Details On Shinsuke Nakamura’s Injury

More details have surfaced regarding the injury that Shinsuke Nakamura sustained.

As we noted earlier on the site, Nakamura was set to challenge Jeff Hardy for the United States Title in Ontario, CA at the Citizens Business Bank Arena for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live. However, Nakamura was pulled after WWE had announced that he suffered an injury on Monday.

In an update, both Pwinsider.com and Dave Meltzer have been able to confirm that Nakamura was pulled from the show after an incident where he was bitten by a dog. Thus, WWE would not clear him to perform in the ring.

So here’s the situation. Before Monday’s live event Bakersfield, CA, local police brought in a dog to sniff around the building as part of a security check. As the dog passed by Nakamura, the dog sniffed Nakamura and then proceeded to bite Nakamura on the leg.

The sports entertainment company has yet to clear him for in-ring action but Nakamura was backstage at Tuesday’s SmackDown TV event. It was noted that his leg is still very sore from the incident.

Dalton Castle Comments On Cody Rhodes’ Plan For ROH World Title At All In

Dalton Castle is set to make the biggest title defense thus far in his reign as ROH World Champion.

Castle will defend his title against Cody Rhodes and Marty Scurll in a Triple Threat Match at the Best in the World pay-per-view event, which takes place on Friday, June 29, 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland at the UMBC Event Center. The event will air on traditional PPV outlets and the FITE TV app.

Cody has gone on record in the past by stating in previous interviews that he plans to win the ROH World Title at this show that way he can put it on the line against Nick Aldis at ‘All In’ that way it would be a title for title match as Aldis’ NWA World Heavyweight Title would be up for grabs at All In.

“Absolutely not,” Dalton replied when asked if he feels pressure to retain his title during a recent media conference call to promote Best in the World (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc).

“That’s pressure Cody’s putting on himself thinking too far ahead. What’s the saying? Putting the carriage in front of the horse. He has made these plans for this world championship he has yet to win. He forgets that if he wants to bring that title to ‘All In’ and challenge Nick Aldis for his title he has to first get through Dalton Castle.”

It didn’t take long for the son of the late great WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes to respond to the comments made by the ROH World Champion as he wrote the following on his official Twitter account:

WWE Announces TV Deals With USA Network And Fox Sports

WWE has officially announced their television deals with the USA Network and Fox Sports.

This news was first reported a few months ago but on Tuesday afternoon the sports entertainment company made it official.

WWE’s television contract was slated to expire in 2019 with the USA Network, which led to them holding meetings with the USA Network, FOX, Disney, CBS, Amazon, and YouTube.

At the time, there was a lot of speculation that WWE could sign with Fox. The reason for the potential move would be due to UFC leaving Fox as the UFC and WWE’s TV deals expire around the same time. UFC ended up signing their next TV deal with ESPN.

It’s been reported that NBC Universal declined to agree to the deal that WWE proposed to keep SmackDown Live on the USA Network. However, the TV network wanted to keep WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, and would be willing to pay them big money in order for that to happen.

WWE noted in a press release that was issued on Tuesday that Monday Night RAW would remain on the USA Network while SmackDown Live would move to Fox and air each Friday on Fox broadcast network. Both deals are for five years.

It’s been reported that Fox is paying WWE $1 billion over the five years for the rights to SmackDown Live. The deal averages out to around $205 million annually for the broadcast rights. NBCUniversal had reportedly paid around $30 million annually for SmackDown rights back in 2010.

WWE will host a conference call at 8:00 a.m. ET on June 27 to discuss the contents of this release. The Company’s Co-Presidents, George A. Barrios and Michelle D. Wilson, will host the conference call.

Shinsuke Nakamura Injured, Pulled From Title Match On SmackDown Live

An injury has caused a change to a title match involving Shinsuke Nakamura on tonight’s WWE SmackDown Live.

Originally, the sports entertainment company announced that Nakamura would challenge Jeff Hardy for the United States Title. However, that has changed as WWE announced through social media on Tuesday afternoon that Nakamura suffered an injury at Monday’s WWE live event and is not medically cleared to compete on tonight’s show.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on exactly the injury Nakamura sustained or how long he’ll be out of action for. Thus, Hardy will now issue an open challenge for his title on SmackDown Live.

WWE is in Ontario, CA at the Citizens Business Bank Arena for tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live. WWE has already announced two matches for the show – Rusev vs. Xavier Woods and Peyton Royce vs. Becky Lynch. Also, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan will appear on Miz TV.

Shinsuke Nakamura Reveals What WWE Superstars Think Of Roman Reigns

Shinsuke Nakamura has given some insight into how Roman Reigns is received by other superstars in the WWE.

The SmackDown Live star was interviewed by Lillian Garcia at the Ace Comic Con. In this interview, he was asked about who he would like to wrestle to which Nakamura stated that he wanted to have a one-on-one match with Reigns.

“I really want to face Roman Reigns again,” said Nakamura. “So, we wrestled at the Royal Rumble, just like a short moment.”

Although Reigns and Nakamura have yet to have a feud on WWE television, they did compete against each other at this year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event as the 50-Man Royal Rumble match came down to Nakamura and Reigns, which saw Nakamura win the match.

Nakamura went on record by stating that although the fans may boo Reigns, all of the superstars is well liked and respect his in-ring work as a wrestler.

“Everybody want to boo him, but every wrestler says that Roman is a good wrestler,” said Nakamura. “I want to feel it,” and would like to start a program with The Big Dog.

Nia Jax Claims She Wasn’t Expecting To Win RAW Women’s Title At WrestleMania 34

Nia Jax reflected on her biggest moment thus far in her career with the WWE.

During a recent interview with KUSI Newsto to promote this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in San Diego, CA at the Valley View Casino Center on the USA Network, Jax talked about various topics including her match at WrestleMania 34.

If you recall, she beat Alexa Bliss to win the RAW Women’s Title at the show that took place in April. She gave The Rock credit for getting her into the pro wrestling business after watching him wrestle John Cena at WrestleMania 28 in Miami, Florida a few years ago.

She spoke about her WrestleMania match against Bliss where she noted that she was not expecting to win the title that night.

“To be able to go to WrestleMania in New Orleans, and the crowd is so hot and it’s so much fun” said Jax. “I didn’t expect to win that night, and when I was told that I was winning, and I [hit] the Samoan Drop off the second [rope], emotions just came over me and I just balled my eyes out and looked like a hot mess.”

She also credits The Rock’s mom as she noted that she was the person who inspired her to start working for the sports entertainment company.

“She was the one who actually told me that the company needs somebody like me to be here to show young boys and girls that no matter what size, shape, race, color, you should be following your dreams,” Jax said.

Jax will have her rematch against Bliss at the upcoming Extreme Rules event for the RAW Women’s Title.

There was an interesting spot on WWE Monday Night RAW involving Bobby Lashley.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in San Diego, CA at the Valley View Casino Center on the USA Network, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle revealed that the upcoming multi-man match at Extreme Rules had been nixed.

It was then announced that Lashley will take on Roman Reigns in a singles match at Extreme Rules.

This led to a tag team match being booked for the next segment that saw The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) beat Reigns and Lashley.

During the match, Lashley was waiting to get tagged in and the Nike logo was clearly visible on his headband. This led to the referee going over to Lashley and tells him to flip it over.

Big Change To Extreme Rules Raw Main Event

WWE has made a change to a big match at Extreme Rules.

Just last week, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle revealed that there will be a multi-man match to crown the new #1 contender for the Universal Title, which is currently being held by Brock Lesnar, at Extreme Rules. At the time, Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley were the only ones confirmed for this match at the upcoming event.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in San Diego, CA at the Valley View Casino Center on the USA Network, Angle revealed that this upcoming multi-man match at Extreme Rules had been nixed due to a snag in the contract for Lesnar’s next title defense.

Eli Drake Re-Signs With Impact Wrestling

Eli Drake is staying with Impact Wrestling.

The promotion made the news official in a post shared on their official Twitter account on Monday. Impact wrote the following:

“BREAKING NEWS: We’re delighted to announce that dummies will be named and shamed long into the future as @TheEliDrake has signed a contract extension with IMPACT Wrestling.”

Dave Meltzer reported earlier this month in an edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Drake had signed another short-term contract extension, which will keep him with Impact Wrestling through July 31st.

A few months ago, the belief was that if Drake didn’t sign a new deal with Impact then he could be headed to the WWE. With a short extension of his contract, the two sides could be working on a longer deal or Drake will finish up his commitments with Impact through the summer. Time will tell how this plays out.

Ex-WWE Creative Team Member On Vince McMahon’s Memory Lapses During Meetings

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is in charge of several aspects of his sports entertainment company.

Thus, it’s likely that he can forget things from time to time. Former WWE creative team member Kevin Eck was recently a guest on The Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast and during that podcast, Eck talked about a variety of topics about his time in WWE.

He decided to reflect on one interesting story that he had witnessed involving McMahon, which was his memory lapses during creative meetings. At one point, he forgot what the finisher was of Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Keep in mind that McMahon has taken the finisher before on WWE television.

“As Vince has gotten older I think he has become more forgetful with things and there were a lot of instances where he had to be reminded. He would just flat-out ask, ‘What did we do on RAW last week with this guy? What did we do?’ He would need to be caught up to speed. Granted, he was in his late 60s/early 70s at that point and responsible for a lot of programming and seen a lot of angles over the years and seen a lot of TV shows.

One of the funniest things I recall is Vince one time in a booking meeting…it was Brock Lesnar against somebody and Vince was trying to think of what the finish could be and he literally says this in a booking meeting. He said, ‘What’s Brock’s finish again?’ It wasn’t a joke.

There was kind of a pause and somebody spoke up and said, ‘The F-5.’ Then it suddenly dawned on Vince that he had taken that move not too long before that and hurt his hip and made a joke about it, ‘Oh that’s right, my hip didn’t like that movie very much.’ He could not remember the F-5.”

Two Matches Advertised For September’s Hell In A Cell PPV

This year’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is scheduled for Sunday, September 16th from San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center. The show will feature Superstars from both brands and follows SummerSlam, which is arguably WWE’s second biggest event of the year.

With tickets for Hell in a Cell scheduled to go on sale this Friday, San Antonio’s local ABC affiliate KSAT 12 is advertising two big matches for the show.

According to KSAT 12, the card will feature:

  • WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
  • Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens

Of course, fans should always remember “card subject to change” – especially in cases like this, when the event is several months away. It’s unclear exactly where KSAT got the information, as the AT&T Center website does not even have an event page for Hell in a Cell, where such matches would be listed.

Becky Lynch Claims She’s Pitched Women’s Tag Team Titles To WWE Officials

Becky Lynch has attempted to pitch WWE officials an interesting idea.

That idea the SmackDown Live star has tried to get over is about a women’s tag team championship that could be used on both brands, RAW and SmackDown Live.

While speaking with longtime WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia last week at Ace Comic Con in Seattle, the idea was brought up to which Lynch noted that she had been trying to convince WWE officials that it was a good idea for a year if not longer.

“Been pitching it for a year — maybe two,” Lynch stated (transcript courtesy of Pro Wrestling Sheet).

Lynch stated that there wouldn’t be enough competitors to make the titles viable on a single brand and thus the reason it would appear on both brands. She believes that it would set the stage for a larger range of matches and possibilities.

“I think that would get people excited to watch any of the brands, because you wouldn’t know when people would be showing up on either RAW or Smackdown.”

Jim Ross Not Happy With Fan Who Brought Beach Ball To Recent WWE Event

Jim Ross has voiced his frustration with one fan who brought a beach ball to a recent WWE event.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently spoke about the topic during an episode of his podcast, the Jim Ross Report.

The incident went down during the NXT Takeover: Chicago II event where one fan decided it was a good idea to bring the item to the event and started using it during the NXT Women’s Title match between Shayna Baszler and Nikki Cross.

“Whoever brought the damn beach ball and punted that around at the match should have their ass kicked. How can you be — ‘oh I’m a fan, I’m a real fan, I’ve got a tee shirt that’s got a wrestler’s picture on it.’ Yeah right. Why would you bring a beach ball to a live event unless you just needed the attention? That you need to tell your buddies, ‘Hey you see that beach ball man? Hey dude, guess who brought it?’ No, you’re an idiot.

So no more beach balls please….you disrespected the people in the match. That’s not the game. So, no more beach balls please and if you see a beach ball, stick a fork in it. Like [Gorilla] Monsoon would say, ‘It’s done”

It should be noted that Ross is not the only one who has an issue with this trend as Cesaro had similar comments about fans bringing them to events.

EC3 Reflects On His WWE Departure In 2013

EC3 has reflected on his first stint in the WWE.

The WWE NXT superstar was a recent guest on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness to talk with WWE Hall of Famer Edge and former World Champion Christian.

During this interview, he talked about departing from the sports entertainment company in 2013 where he admitted that it was the best thing to happen to him for various reasons and elaborated on them.

“As much as that sucked at the time, it was the best thing that could happen to me for a numerous amount of reasons.” EC3 continued, “and, like, what a better time, what a better opportunity than now? I don’t believe in, ‘ah, everything happens for a reason’. I believe in that in a sense, but the way that everything panned out, played out, worked out, damn, I couldn’t be happier or more excited about what’s to come and where it’s going.”

EC3 did note that his complacent attitude may have been a factor in the decision made by WWE to part ways with him at that time.

“‘What do I have to do to do this?’ ‘This, this, and this.’ ‘Yeah, but…’ ‘What do you mean, ‘yeah but’?’ Yeah, but do it or don’t.” EC3 elaborated, “I mean, we’re all guilty, probably, of ‘yeah buts’ in our lifetime too. ‘Yeah buts’ are probably what got me fired in the first place. There was a sense of complacency. There was a sense of ‘yeah, but, like, you know, I’m not going to get this shot because of this’. And then, yeah, you know what? You get fired, you lose it all, your back’s against the wall, you refuse to accept ‘no’ for an answer. You refuse to let anyone else dictate how you’re going to live your life, how you’re going to make your living, or what you’re going to do. Then you go out and you kill it. You just throw that ‘yeah but’ away and you go, ‘yeah, butts!’”

What are your thoughts on EC3’s comments about his WWE departure?

WWE Creates Stephanie McMahon Themed Merchandise For Ronda Rousey

WWE is being creative with the latest t-shirt for former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.

Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 by teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team Match. In this match, there was a famous scene in which Rousey made McMahon tap out to her armbar finisher.

The reason for the beatdown was due to Bliss attacking her during Rousey’s RAW Women’s Title Match against Nia Jax at the Money in the Bank PPV event. It was later announced that Rousey would be suspended for 30 days as a result of her actions.

Despite being suspended, it’s been reported that Rousey is still scheduled to appear at Monday’s RAW and will likely appear in a dark segment.

The sports entertainment company is advertising Rousey for the following dates including live events:
