Colt Cabana Opens Up On His Friendship With CM Punk

Colt Cabana has opened up on his friendship with CM Punk.

Cabana recently appeared on Busted Open Radio to talk with Bubba Ray Dudley and Dave LaGreca. During the interview, he was asked about the status of his friendship with Punk following their recent lawsuit that was brought against them from WWE doctor Chris Amann.

We’re… we’re what we are, you know? Yes. Of course we are.” Cabana continued by stating, “Me and Punk [are] like you and Taz,” said Cabana (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc).”We’re friends.”

Following his second pro-MMA loss to Mike Jackson by unanimous decision at the UFC 225 pay-per-view event, there has been some speculation that Punk might make a return to professional wrestling.

Cabana made it clear that he doesn’t think Punk will go back to the WWE but never say never.

“I think he has no desire to ever go to WWE, but, you never know,” said Cabana. “In 10 years, something can be different. His mindset could be different, his pocket book could be different, these are factors that I don’t know. Like, right now, I think he hates wrestling, and everything is kind of… it’s weird, because it’s done everything for him, and it’s also done everything against him. So, I think he has a bad taste for wrestling in his mouth but, you know, in four, five, 10 years, who knows?”

Cabana added that Chris Jericho’s involvement with NJPW this year goes to show that there are other options other than being in the sports entertainment company. Cabana added that he feels sad for Punk because after becoming so successful in the WWE, it ultimately cost him to lose his passion for wrestling.

Daniel Bryan Believes He Could Beat CM Punk’s Latest UFC Opponent On The Ground

Daniel Bryan kept a close eye on the latest MMA fight involving CM Punk.

The former WWE Champion fought Mike Jackson in a welterweight bout at the UFC 225 pay-per-view event on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

As seen in the fight, Jackson dominated it and although Punk showed a ton of heart he was winded after the first round. Jackson was able to pick up the unanimous decision win after a dominant performance.

Bryan made it well known during Brie Bella’s live Instagram video that was recently posted on the social media platform that he’s willing to fight Jackson, who holds a pro-MMA record of 1-1.

Bryan stated in the video, “I could beat him on the ground for sure. If WWE would let me fight in UFC, maybe.”

Finn Balor Discusses Not Portraying His Demon Character At WrestleMania 34

WWE fans are always intrigued to see when Finn Balor will bring back his alternative character.

The former WWE Universal Champion made his Demon character popular while on the independent scene but only portrays it when a certain feud or match calls for it.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Balor was asked about not portraying the character for his Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 34 in April against Seth Rollins and The Miz.

If you recall, Balor instead, wore his “for everyone” shirt,” which saw 20% of the sales from each of those shirts is donated to GLAAD during an entrance that showed support for the LGBTQ community.

“A lot of people maybe thought going into WrestleMania, ‘Well, if Finn’s not gonna be the Demon, it’s gonna suck. I think what we did at WrestleMania is a lot more important than any Demon could have been.”

Balor also noted that he worked on the shirt and idea for about six months. After seeing his Instagram post with a rainbow version of the Balor Club symbol with the text, “BálorClub is for EVERYONE,” Stephanie McMahon contacted him about it.

“I feel like—not that they were excluded, but sometimes they felt like they weren’t included. That’s something I felt a responsibility for, to use the platform that I have for good and to help maybe a small amount of people for the right reasons.”

“It’s crazy because it was kind of a couple months of me talking, then as soon as the right people heard it, it was almost instantaneously, ‘We gotta have this shirt out next week and we gotta talk to GLAAD ASAP and we’re gonna roll with it.'”

ROH Looking To Run Madison Square Garden Next Year

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. CEO Chris Ripley revealed the interesting plans that ROH has for 2019.

The Baltimore Business Journal has reported that Ring of Honor is looking to hold an event at the world famous Madison Square Garden in New York City next year. The reason for this plan is due to the successful sell-out of All In.

The article would go onto to credit WWE’s upcoming television deals with NBCUniversal to keep their flagship show, Monday Night RAW, on the USA Network and moving SmackDown Live to FOX for ROH to have a more relevant name value in the industry.

Ripley stated that the plan that the company has to grow the Baltimore-based promotion is to take advantage of a “very passionate fanbase.” He noted that they want to start running bigger venues, which started when they sold out 10,000 seats in less than an hour in Chicago. Thus, the reason they want to run MSG.

“We have been scaling in terms of our production quality,” Ripley said.

Ripley would go onto talk about why they would be open to selling the promotion if a ridiculous offer came about, WWE’s TV deal and more. You can check out the full article here.

The Miz Explains Why He’ll Never Be A Locker Room Leader In The WWE

The Miz understands his role in the WWE

The former WWE Champion recently appeared on Bust Open Radio on Sirius XM to speak with Dave LaGreca and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry about various topics.

During the interview, he was asked if he is a locker room leader. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc).

“No. I don’t think I will ever be a locker room leader like The Undertaker or John Cena. That is just not my role. I am not someone that sits in the back watching the monitor and observing everyone. I have to get in the ring to feel exactly how you are. That is how I teach. I teach by example, instead of saying to them what they did wrong. I need to get in the ring with them and be able to feel what the are doing, so that is how I am able to teach.

I am not one of those people that people go to and people ask for my advice. I don’t know, it’s tough for me to give a person advice when I wasn’t in the ring with them. I don’t know what their mindset is. I don’t know why they did what they did and when they did it. I have to hear an audience, and feel an audience to know exactly why I am doing something.”

The Miz then shifted into how his confidence has grown over the years.

“It feels like now that I have been in WWE for over 12 years, I have developed this confidence where whatever situation I am in I know what to do. I don’t think I have had that type of confidence.

I think that it takes a lot of time; a lot of matches and a lot of years to develop that type of confidence where no matter what situation you are in, you know exactly what to do, get the crowd to wherever you want them and be so confident that even if you fail it is still a success.”

The Background

The Miz was drafted to the ECW brand in 2007 where he formed a partnership with John Morrison. Together, they won the WWE Tag Team Championship and World Tag Team Championship.

After being drafted to Raw in 2009, he won the United States Championship twice, tag team titles with John Cena, Damien Mizdow, and twice with Big Show, as well as the 2010 Raw Money in the Bank ladder match. He cashed in his briefcase to win the WWE Championship in November 2010 and went on to hold for six months. He is also the third longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history by combined days, behind only Don Muraco and Pedro Morales.

If you recall, the biggest match of The Miz’s career was when he defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship back at WrestleMania 27 in 2011 in the main event.

Dana White Confirms When Brock Lesnar’s WWE Contract Expires

UFC President Dana White has confirmed when Brock Lesnar’s contract with the WWE expires.

Earlier this year, White teased that Lesnar could be making a comeback to the UFC. Since then, White has gone on record several times by stating that Lesnar would be making a return to the MMA promotion.

Moving along to Monday, White stated in an interview that Lesnar’s contract with the WWE is slated to expire at the end of this summer. He also claimed that both Lesnar and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones are interested in fighting each other.

“I know that Brock’s WWE deal is up at the end of the summer, I think,” White told TMZ. “I know he wants to fight so I’m sure we’ll end up getting that figured out.”

“That’s [Lesnar vs. Ngannou] a fun fight, absolutely,” White added. “Obviously there’s a lot of options. Jon Jones is very interested in Brock Lesnar and Brock Lesnar is very interested in Jon Jones.”

“I don’t know [when the hearing is], I’ll end up figuring that out in the next month. I don’t know how that’s gonna play out. That’s up to USADA. USADA’s going to decide that. Oh yeah, they both want it, it’s a fun fight.”

The current WWE Universal Champion retained his title against Roman Reigns in the main event of the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company, WrestleMania 34, in April.

Shortly after that match, it was revealed that Lesnar had signed a short-term contract with the WWE and then went on to defend his title against Reigns at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in a Steel Cage Match.

Lesnar has competed just once inside of the cage since 2011. He returned to the Octagon for a heavyweight bout against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016 where Lesnar won a unanimous decision that night which was subsequently overturned when it was revealed he failed two USADA issued drug tests before the bout.

In order for Lesnar to fight again, he must enter into the USADA testing pool, which would force him to be tested for six months before fighting again. The Universal Champion is expected to defend his title under the WWE banner at SummerSlam in August.

Daniel Bryan Reflects On Warning WWE Officials About Fan Backlash Before 2015 Royal Rumble

Daniel Bryan has been an underdog in the eyes of the WWE fans for several years now.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and SmackDown General Manager recently did an interview with Inside the Ropes. During this discussion, Bryan talked about how he warned WWE officials that being eliminated quickly in the 2015 Royal Rumble would be a mistake. Here is what he had to say (h/t to Wrestling Inc)

“When they told me what was going to happen, I was like, ‘this isn’t gonna work out well for you guys. But, you can do what you want,'” said Bryan. “Like, I don’t run the company, right? If it’s bad — I feel bad for certain people who were negatively affected by that. The year before, 2014, Batista was negatively affected by it.

“So like, I always try to say like, ‘hey, I think this is gonna happen,’ and sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m wrong. But I think, like in that specific case, like I had said that, like I don’t think this is a good idea, and it doesn’t matter what I think, right? And so, I just go out there, and I do my job, and I play the hand that I’m dealt with.”

Also, Bryan stated that his time teaming with Kane as part of Team “Hell No” was the most important moment of his career. The fan favorite would go onto state that the reason he believes that is due to him being able to gravitate to the fans and allow the “Yes” Movement to grow in popularity.

“I think the vital part of my career, like maybe the most important part of my career, was [teaming with Kane],” said Bryan. “I mean, there are certain bullet points you can see like, okay, I needed this to happen. Like a certain chain of events for me, of all people, to main event WrestleMania 30. I needed a certain series of events to happen in this specific timeline for it to work. It was very, like, luck type thing. And one of the things was getting paired with Kane.”

Bryan is slated to take on Big Cass in a singles match at the upcoming WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena.

Sasha Banks Talks Her Favorite WWE Firsts, Who She Wants To Wrestle

Sasha Banks was interviewed at the WWE For Your Consideration 2018 Emmy nomination campaign.

While at the event, the former WWE RAW Women’s Champion spoke about various topics including being part of so many first time things in the women’s division under the banner of the sports entertainment company. Here is what she had to say: (transcript courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com):

“That’s such a hard answer, I only dreamed I’d be a part of all these firsts,” Sasha said. “First woman to main event a PPV, that could be up there. Being a part of WrestleMania 32, having my cousin Snoop Dogg walk me down the aisle, that’s pretty cool. … I can’t just pick one because they all helped me grow and helped me understand this dream can be so much bigger.”

Despite being in the WWE for a short period of time (2012), Banks has achieved many things and wrestled a lot of Superstars. However, there are still some talents she wants to work with to have a solid one-on-one match in WWE.

“With NXT we have so many women all over the world that I haven’t got to be in the ring with yet,” Sasha responded. “On Raw and SmackDown, I’ve got to wrestle quite a few … I feel like I haven’t had that great singles match with Naomi yet, because she’s on SmackDown Live. Natalya, I don’t feel like I’ve had a good singles, one-on-one match with her.”
