Seth Rollins Talks Using Curb Stomp Again, Recent Shield Reunion, Potential Feud With Roman Reigns

The Shield, which featured Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns, was a different kind of stable that was created with NXT Superstars.

The group teamed together for a few years until WWE decided to split them up June 2014, after which Reigns entered singles competition. Ever since the group split up, fans have turned on Reigns despite him being portrayed as a babyface.

The WWE Intercontinental Champion recently spoke with Newsweek to talk about various topics.

During the interview, he was asked about a potential feud with Reigns and if he thinks Reigns can beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event.

“I would love to see Roman take down Brock Lesnar and bring the Universal Championship to RAW. It would be a huge coup for our television show, the live events, for everything. I’m team Roman 100 percent. I’m not worried about my position or the Intercontinental championship. I know what I bring to the table and what the Intercontinental title brings to the table. I think having Roman with the Universal title on RAW every week will only add to the show and the prestige we do every week.”

“I’d absolutely love to get into the ring again with Roman. Without a doubt, he’s one of the top competitors in the entire world and being in the ring with him, whenever any of the SHIELD guys are in the ring at the same time, there’s a special feeling involved. We’ve had some very classic matchups in the past and we’ve gone back and forth before. I think it would be a great time and I’m certainly up for the challenge and I’m certain he would be too.”

When The Shield first made their way onto WWE television, they were an instant hit with the fans. From the way that they looked at how they worked in the ring to their promos.

Just late last year, Reigns, Ambrose, and Rollins had a short-lived Shield reunion on WWE television.

“Getting back with Dean and Roman was incredible in itself. We had the band back together and we were ready for a few months run, and then things happen. That’s just the nature of the business and life, really. You can’t plan for those things. We had that six-man tag match against The New Day at Survivor Series, which was a lot of fun. I think all three of us would like to have another opportunity to have that classic six-man, but at the end of the day it afforded us some crazy opportunities. We teamed with Kurt Angle in that wild TLC match, and then teaming with Triple H on the European tour. Who would have thought you’d see those guys in SHIELD gear? It’s a super interesting situation that didn’t start the way we wanted, but it ended up pretty cool and had some cool moments.”

When asked about his finisher, The Curbstomp, being banned after using it for the majority of his career in WWE up until a few years ago, Rollins expressed his happiness with the move being back.

“You know, I can’t divulge the entire story. Maybe some other time. It’ll be good for a DVD or a Network special or something like that. I will say that I was very happy to see it come back. It wasn’t a long-term plan, I knew way in advance, but I was happy to get it back. That is another thing this year that really put me on a very good trajectory. It felt good, man. The surprise in the audience and the reaction I got online was really cool, too. I’m glad to take it around the world now, it’s been a good experience.”

Baron Corbin Talks WWE’s Decision To Move Him To RAW, Greatest Royal Rumble

WWE is going all out for their upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event that takes place this Friday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah International Stadium and will air on the WWE Network.

Baron Corbin recently spoke with Brian Fritz of Sporting News to promote this show. Corbin has been slowly but surely pushed as an important member of the main roster while under contract with WWE since 2012.

He is the winner of the third annual André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 and won the Money in the Bank match in 2016 for a WWE Championship opportunity. As a result, he became the third wrestler to fail to win his cash-in match.

Corbin is slated to compete in the upcoming Royal Rumble match and he believes that this feels like a WrestleMania caliber event.

“It definitely does. The magnitude of this is insane. It’s crazy to comprehend because I haven’t been over there yet to see the building, the arena, and the atmosphere of the people. When you get to WrestleMania and you’re walking around, you just feel that energy from the people in streets and in restaurants and buildings. Everywhere you go, everyone is on that energy level with you. They’re excited for the show and they’re excited for every part of it. I’m excited to get to Jeddah and experience that energy that the people are going to have. I think that elevates it and that makes it have that WrestleMania mentality. It’s unbelievable what we’re doing.

Then you look at the card — a 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble match — when you look at the magnitude of the matches. You have a Casket Match between ‘Taker and Rusev. Like, that’s crazy. When was the last time we had a Casket Match? It’s been a little while, so we’re breaking out a lot of big things for this. I can only imagine that it’s going to reach the level of WrestleMania.”

“(laughs) All I can really do is laugh because I have no idea. I have no idea how this is going to go. I was in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania and we started with 30 guys standing in the ring and I was like “holy moley, I can’t even move”. I just started swinging at everybody. I don’t know how the structure for this is going to be. Are we starting with guys in? Are we going every 60 seconds? 90 seconds? How close to the Royal Rumble are we going? I have no idea. I’m just going to have to have my head on a swivel and see what it throws at me and just but I know it’s going to be madness, that’s for sure.”

The sports entertainment company held this year’s Superstar Shake-Up on Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live last week. WWE moved Corbin from SmackDown Live to RAW.

“You know, it was kind of bittersweet. I feel like we were really building something amazing at “SmackDown Live” and you get into a routine. My week has been completely screwed up this week because I keep thinking I’m a day ahead of what I actually am. I woke up this morning getting ready to take the trash out and I was like ah, it’s not Friday yet, it’s Thursday because I came home on Tuesday. My internal clock is out of whack. That’s taking some adjusting.

I think as far as my career, it’s the correct move for me. I think it’s the correct path, the correct place to go because you’ve got guys over there who will elevate you to a whole other level. AJ Styles is amazing and I think we’ve had some amazing matches, especially when I took the United States Championship off him. That was amazing and it did a lot for my career but I want to get over and mix it up with guys like Roman Reigns. He’s unbelievable. I’m looking forward to his Cage Match with Brock (Lesnar) in Saudi Arabia on Friday. It’s gonna be a war. If you saw what they did at ‘Mania, I can’t imagine how physical it’s going to get.

But I want to go and stand toe-to-toe with a guy like Roman or Brock or Seth Rollins. I think there’s unbelievable competitors on “RAW” and people look at “RAW” and say that’s the primetime, it’s the jewel of WWE. I want to be in those conversations — who are our top guys? Who’s the guy that can lead WWE into the future? I want my name in that conversation. I think “RAW” is a place I can solidify that.”

Goldberg Comments On Hulk Hogan Potentially Returning To WWE

The debate about whether or not WWE Chairman Vince McMahon should bring back Hulk Hogan to the sports entertainment company continues.

Hogan’s latest run with the WWE was a short one. On February 24, 2014, on Raw, Hogan made his first WWE in-ring appearance since December 2007 to hype the launch of the WWE Network.

At WrestleMania 30, Hogan served as the host and came out at the start of the show to hype up the crowd. Steve Austin and The Rock ended up coming out to have a memorable segment with him. However, he was later fired over racist remarks made in a leaked sex tape.

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg recently appeared on CBS Sports’ In This Corner Podcast. During the interview, he was asked about the potential return of Hogan to the WWE. Here is what he had to say:

“Oh, that’s not for me to judge. I think everybody deserves a second chance. I think you put [Hogan] in the locker room and give him the floor and let him speak his mind. That’s what he deserves. Who knows what happens from there but it’s not for me to say by any means. I can just give you my opinion and say that he deserves the floor and who knows where it goes from there.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Confirms His Entry Into Greatest Royal Rumble Match

You can add another big name confirmed to be working the upcoming 50-Man Royal Rumble Match at the upcoming WWE Greatest Royal Rumble event.

That star is former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. If you recall, the WWE Hall of Famer hinted that he would be wrapping up his career as an in-ring performer in WWE when the WWE Network aired an episode of “Table For 3” last year.

The episode featured Henry and WWE Hall of Famers Ron Simmons and The Godfather. During the show, Henry dropped a bombshell by revealing a bit of information regarding what’s to come in his WWE career.

The longtime Superstar officially announced later that his 21-year in-ring career is coming to an end. He will transition from being a WWE Superstar to a WWE employee to help all of the up-and-coming male and female talent develop and become successful in the company.

He confirmed his status for this upcoming event by posting the following on his official Instagram account:

Braun Strowman Discusses Vince McMahon Being Hands On With His Character

Braun Strowman has risen up the ranks in WWE in a short amount of time after making his main roster debut just a few short years ago as part of The Wyatt Family.

He has learned as he goes to be a top Superstar. It’s well known that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is a fan of big men. Strowman recently appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast.

During the interview, he discussed McMahon being such hands on his character on the sports entertainment company’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW. Here is what he had to say (h/t to Wrestling Inc for the transcript):

“Vince McMahon is a genius and he has been hands on with the development of Braun Strowman and all of the stunts that we do and the segments, and it’s working. There is no ‘ifs,’ ‘ands’ or ‘buts.’ I am enjoying the process. I am having such an amazing time travelling around the world, entertaining my fans and seeing the kids and everything. It is really humbling to me,” Strowman said. “I am a country boy in a little small town of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina and I have an unbelievable job.

Every big stunt that you have seen, he [McMahon] has been there. It’s funny, because a couple of times we have had to edit him out because he’d make the accidental Stan Lee appearance in the thing, and you see him stepping out, but yeah, he steps out from meetings and everything and tries to go out there and tries to put RAW together and make sure everything is perfect in how he wants it, which is why it is working.”

Impact Wrestling is once again in a rebuilding period and has changed the product around.

The promotion held their Redemption pay-per-view event on Sunday night (April 22nd, 2018) in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios on traditional PPV outlets and the FITE TV app. It was a solid show with some good wrestling and booking, which is a trend that has started to bring back fans.

Before the show went live on pay-per-view, they showed off the new designs for their championships. At the show, two titles changed hands.

Pentagon Jr. won the Impact World Championship against Austin Aries and Fenix in a Triple Threat Match. Eli Drake and Scott Steiner won the Impact World Tag Team Championship from LAX.

Jinder Mahal Discusses Being Somewhat Disappointed With His WrestleMania 33 Role

Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal transformed his career between his first and current run with the sports entertainment company.

In April of 2011 Mahal made his main roster debut and would eventually find himself as a member of the Three Man Band (3MB) trio alongside Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater.

In 2014, however, his run with the WWE came to an end when he was released from his deal. He would return to the independent circuit for two years, where he would reinvent himself creatively and physically, before being brought back to WWE around the time of the Superstar Shake-Up last year.

Mahal was recently a guest on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia. During the interview, he was asked about being put in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal which saw Mojo Rawley win the match last year at WrestleMania 33. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc):

“It was cool, definitely, but part of me, I’d be lying if I’d say it wasn’t disappointing in a way because I wanted to be on the main show. Actually, one of the things that I did in this last year is that I write down my goals. Every day I write down ‘Main Evented WrestleMania,’ along with writing, ’10-Time World Champion,’ I have all these goals. I write down what my net-worth is going to be, how many properties I’d like to own. Every day I write this down,” Mahal said. “One of my goals is main eventing WrestleMania. Right now, I write ’10-time World Champion.’ Before I became WWE Champion I used to write down ‘Become A Champion in WWE,’ because I was so low on the card, to even hold a championship in the WWE I would think that it would be so cool. I can be Intercontinental Champion, U.S Champion, but I should have written ‘Become a World Champion.’ I’m a firm believer that if you put it on paper and it reminds you to work hard every day, especially every day if you write down your goals.”

Scott D’Amore Opens Up On Alberto El Patron’s Impact Wrestling Departure

The fallout from Alberto El Patron’s departure from Impact Wrestling is still a discussion.

El Patron failed to appear at the Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground event at WrestleCon earlier this month during WrestleMania weekend. At the show, he was originally scheduled to team with Penta El 0M against Austin Aries and Rey Fénix.

This led to the promotion releasing El Patron due to him not appearing at the show.

SI.com recently interviewed Impact Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore. During this interview, D’Amore opened up on the release of the former world champion.

“It was obviously an unfortunate situation. When Alberto failed to show up to the event, we made our decision on a new main event for the show. It was important for us to give our fans, in a capacity crowd at the Sugar Mill in New Orleans, a great event, and we did not want them to focus on someone who wasn’t there.

We wanted them to focus on the match we were giving. Those three guys went out, were so professional, and put on an amazing match. Then we sat down and huddled.”

Bruce Prichard Reveals If Roman Reigns Has The It Factor To Be Top Guy

Since 2014, WWE has attempted to establish Roman Reigns as their next “face of the company.”

Reigns had headlined multiple major WWE pay-per-view events, including the last four WrestleManias (31 lost to Seth Rollins, 32 beat Triple H, 33 when he defeated The Undertaker, and 34 where he lost to Brock Lesnar.

There has never been a babyface that has been pushed like Reigns that is disliked more by fans in the history of professional wrestling. Historically, when a babyface is not getting over with the crowd, the promoter or booker would turn them heel. Reigns is truly a different case in that sense.

Bruce Prichard spoke with Sporting News on his thoughts about various topics. During the interview, he was asked about Reigns and his future in the sports entertainment company.

“Roman Reigns has ‘it.’ Roman Reigns is going to be the guy. He’s got all the tools. Love him or hate him, they care about him. I have no problem with Roman Reigns being the next guy to take it to the next level because he’s a stud.”

Goldberg Responds To Booker T’s Challenge For Match

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has challenged fellow Hall of Famer Goldberg to a match.

On Twitter, while working out at the gym, Booker T, who is slated to return to WWE television this coming Monday for RAW to fill in for Jonathan Coachman on commentary, decided to challenge the former Universal Champion to a match at either the Greatest Royal Rumble event or WrestleMania 35 next year.

As for the reason? It’s due to Goldberg telling him backstage at WrestleMania 34 that he needs to get back in the gym after the former WCW World Champion was seen riding a hoverboard.

Booker T told him that he was just using the hoverboard for fun and wanted to let Goldberg know he was indeed in good shape.

Obviously, this was just a joke as you can tell with Goldberg’s response to the challenge below:

Triple H On Why Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa Headlined NXT Takeover: New Orleans

Ever since Triple H came up with the idea for NXT, he has had a certain vision in mind. For years, WWE would sign top stars in other promotions during the territories era as well as create their own stars from the ground up.

When WWE and WCW got hot in the 1990’s and started the Monday Night Wars, they went after other promotions for their top stars. This led to the independent scene soaking up all of the talents that WWE and WCW didn’t want.

However, when Vince McMahon decided to buy his competition, there became a monopoly in the professional wrestling business. It seems pretty clear what Triple H’s vision for the developmental brand is. Sign athletes, who have no pro wrestling experience and train them to become WWE Superstars.

Also, he wants to sign the best of the best talents in the world and have them learn the WWE playbook then shine not only in NXT but on the main roster. Just look at the main roster in WWE right now.

ESPN has an article about the success of NXT and the level of growth that the brand has had over the past few years with some quotes with “The Game.”

“It’s just a classic story, you know, you don’t even have to say wrestling,” said Levesque. “Classics never get old, it’s authentic and it’s real. It was done with passion and emotion and feel. There’s a ring of truth to all of it, right? We put Gargano and Ciampa together and they weren’t best of friends, but they became it. He was in his wedding and all that is legit.

“And to go forward from there, the injuries and just the story… part of it was the plan, and then part of it was just working around the nuances of life to get there,” Levesque continued. “But it almost made it better in some way, right? To me this is one of those things that I love because it is the classic bad guy-good guy… to me, that’s the art of what we do — and I do consider this an art form, in every sense of it. Sometimes you hit magic.”

As seen at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans event earlier this month at the Smoothie King Center on the WWE Network, Johnny Gargano battled Tommaso Ciampa in the main event. Some believed that the NXT Title should always be in the main event but Triple H explained why Gargano vs. Ciampa was the perfect fit to be the headliner of that show.

“I feel like any of them could have [main evented], and this was a debate. A lot of points of view on it. There’s a part of me that goes, ‘Whoa, the title should close,’ and then there’s a part of me that goes, ‘You cannot pass that emotion.’ You just can’t. No level of moonsault, no level of flip off a ladder, no level of any of that is gonna pass that level of emotion and feeling — that level of emotion of the storytelling.

“I don’t know how you could have gone off the air better than Gargano gets his life back and his wife’s in there,” said Levesque. “Unless I have Ciampa run back in there and piledrive her, that’s the end. There’s always next time.”

Aleister Black Talks His Desire To Wrestle Finn Balor, Wanting To Make It To WrestleMania

Current WWE NXT Champion Aleister Black has taken the sports entertainment company by storm since signing back in June of 2016.

As seen at WWE NXT TakeOver: New Orleans event on earlier this month in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Smoothie King Center on the WWE Network, Black defeated Andrade Almas to win the NXT Title. This marks the first time that Black has held the title.

Black recently appeared on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness. During the interview, he talked about his goal of making it to the biggest event of the year for the WWE, WrestleMania as well as his desire to wrestle former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor.

“WrestleMania, that’s that one picture I have in my head, especially now, coming here.” Black said, “Like when I had that first match and I had that first taste of what WWE brings to the table, and I saw that grand stage the day after, I was like, ‘right there. That’s it. That’s the one.’ That’s what I’m aiming for.”

He continued, “And I know it sounds cliche, but I feel as any professional wrestler, any performer that works in this industry, I think that should be your goal. With all due respect to anyone who thinks different, but, for me, in my opinion, that is where it’s at. Right there.”

“That’s definitely something that [has] been inside my upper chamber as well.” Black said, “that’s definitely something that has been on my mind for sure because I think the contrast yet similarities are fantastic and that guy, his wrestling ability is on a different level. He is truly unique.”

Braun Strowman Opens Up On If His WrestleMania 34 Match Was Disappointing

Braun Strowman has risen up the ranks in WWE in a short amount of time after making his main roster debut just a few short years ago as part of The Wyatt Family.

He has learned as he goes to be a top Superstar. It’s well known that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is a fan of big men.

At WrestleMania 34 earlier this month in New Orleans, Strowman and a kid that was picked out of the crowd defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the Raw Tag Team Titles. It was later revealed that Strowman and Nicholas had to vacate the titles due to Nicholas being a fourth-grade student.

After the event, Strowman appeared on Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast to talk about various topics including the match that the sports entertainment company booked him in at the biggest event of the year. Here is what he had to say (H/T to Wrestling Inc):

“A lot of it is WWE Creative really hitting the nail on the head that we do, and the other half is just my work ethic. I want to be the best. I don’t believe going out and competing for second best,” Strowman said. “If I can’t be the best at something then I don’t want to do it, and that has always stuck with me. I had that mentality when I competed at World’s Strongest Man. I brought that mentality here. I am going to be a WWE Hall of Famer. I am going to main event WrestleMania and that’s just the fact of it.”

“That’s the thing, everyone is like, oh you should be main-eventing, but I’m like, I’m just getting started. I’m just wetting my beak right now,” he said. “We have a lot more to do and why rush everything right now? The machine is behind me. The Universe is behind me. Let’s enjoy this. Let’s have fun, and let’s go out there and do it together.”

Steve Austin Explains Why Wasn’t A Fan Of ‘Nicholas’ At WrestleMania

You can add the name of WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin to the list of people still talking about WWE’s decision for who Braun Strowman’s tag team partner was at WrestleMania 34 earlier this month in New Orleans.

At the show, Strowman and a kid that was picked out of the crowd defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the Raw Tag Team Titles. This marks the first time that Strowman has held the title in his career. It was later revealed that Strowman and Nicholas had to vacate the titles due to Nicholas being a fourth-grade student.

Austin expressed his thoughts on a recent episode of The Steve Austin Show.

“Braun Strowman is over like rover, a lot of potential, a lot of momentum, a lot of great storylines for him,” said Austin. “But the fact that he goes out there in the crowd and picks some kid, it’s almost like a disservice to Cesaro and Sheamus who’ve been working their a**es off. Two physical specimens, have really gotten some chemistry together as a team. Not to be taken lightly. Braun’s a big guy, but you know, Cesaro’s one of the strongest guys in the locker room. Sheamus is a brute.

“They can’t monetize this person who was picked from the crowd. And, I don’t know, I wasn’t really down with it, and that’s with respect to a d**n good tag team like The Bar. And then Strowman picks someone [from the crowd], I just, man you’re walking a fine line with him, because you have this brute force killer who’s legitimately one of the biggest, strongest men in the world. It didn’t do much for me.”

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Hartford, CT at the XL Center on the USA Network, Bray Wyatt, and Matt Hardy beat The Revival to earn shot at the vacant Raw Tag Team Titles.

Wyatt and Hardy will now challenge The Bar for the titles at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Goldberg Talks Potential WWE Return, His Relationship With Vince McMahon

Even though it’s only been a year ago, fans still want to see Goldberg work one more match under the WWE banner.

He finally went to work for WWE Chairman Vince McMahon between 2003 and 2004 where he became a one-time World Heavyweight Champion in the latter.

After twelve years away from the company, he returned to WWE in 2016 and headlined Survivor Series against Brock Lesnar, and Fastlane against Kevin Owens where he won the WWE Universal Championship.

He lost the title to Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 last year in Orlando, Florida. He was last seen on WWE television the night after Mania on Raw.

Goldberg, who was inducted into the 2018 class of the WWE Hall of Fame, spoke with The New York Post to talk about various topics. During the interview, he was asked about a potential return.

“If I never stepped in the ring again, I’m content, dude. I’m completely at peace. I really am. Would I like to do it again? Who knows. It would have to be the right fit. I’d love to do it again for my son [Gage]. Let’s be honest. Everybody knows that. But at the end of the day, you have to be smart about it.”

“There’s no question it would have to be the right opponent. What I was able to accomplish last year was really special, and I don’t want to take anything away from that by any stretch of the imagination, devalue my place in the Hall of Fame and my stature to the fans.”

Goldberg was also asked about his relationship with McMahon. He stated, “I never wanted to anything with this business ever again after my first [WWE] tenure and to experience what I experienced this last time, he’s the man that made it happen, period, end of story.”

New Match Added To Impact Redemption PPV, Updated Card

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion To Appear At Greatest Royal Rumble Event

WWE fans can expect to see one popular former WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event.

By now it’s obvious that the sports entertainment company is loading up this show to make a first good impression with their partners in Saudi Arabia.

PWinsider.com is reporting that Rey Mysterio is slated to appear at the event. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if he will be wrestling at the show.

If you recall, the former World Champion was set for a meeting with Triple H at WWE headquarters several weeks ago to finalize a new contract after his big surprise return at the Royal Rumble in January. However, that meeting did not happen due to the fact that Triple H needed to go to Saudi Arabia to finalize the new contract there that would see WWE produce live events.

Then it was revealed that Rey had suffered a torn bicep and was pulled from his match with Jushin Liger at NJPW Strong Style Evolved. Even though he didn’t wrestle at the event, the former WWE Champion did do an in-ring promo.

As of this writing, Mysterio has yet to make a deal with the WWE.

Chris Jericho Reveals Why Vince McMahon Dropped Numbers From WrestleMania

Chris Jericho discussed various topics on a recent edition of his podcast; Talk is Jericho.

Jericho has done it all under the sports entertainment banner. He has been under contract with the sports entertainment company off and on since 1999. He is also a record nine-time Intercontinental Champion.

Jericho is the first Undisputed WWE Champion, and thus the final holder of the World Championship (formerly the WCW World Heavyweight Championship), having won and unified the WWE and World titles by defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock on the same night in 2001.

It’s safe to say that his opinion should be taken into consideration as he’s one of the biggest stars that has ever been created in pro wrestling. During the podcast, he explained why WWE Chairman Vince McMahon made the decision to drop numbers from WrestleMania.

For example, although the media adds the numbers to the name of the event, the WWE just references it as WrestleMania instead of this year’s WrestleMania 34.

“The reason why, and everybody at home, is that Vince does not like the numbers after the WrestleMania because he feels like it dates it.” Jericho explained, “also, you’re not allowed to call it ‘The Grandaddy Of Them All’ because he feels that it makes it seem old. So yeah, Super Bowl 75, he does not like the number, so you cannot refer to it as ‘WrestleMania 34’. You just refer to it as ‘WrestleMania’. One of those classic Vince McMahon quirks.”

Austin Aries Reacts To WWE’s Jab At TNA On Monday Night RAW

Up until recently, WWE has been hesitant from using the name of TNA or Impact Wrestling on television.

Outside of former TNA President Dixie Carter doing an interview for WWE Hall of Famer and current General Manager of WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, Kurt Angle’s WWE 24 special that aired last year on the WWE Network, the sports entertainment company has gone out of their way of not mentioning the promotion.

Just look at Jeff Jarrett’s Hall of Fame speech last week, he didn’t mention TNA at all, which is a bit odd considering that it could be argued that is his biggest achievement of his career.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Smoothie King Center on the USA Network, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn approached Angle about wanting a job with the red brand after they were officially fired from SmackDown following WrestleMania 34 loss to Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan.

Angle did name TNA during the backstage segment as he first told Owens and Sami that the RAW tag team division was full, but he heard “TNA is hiring.”

During Wednesday’s Impact conference call, former WWE star and current Impact World Champion Austin Aries responded to WWE’s jab at TNA. Here is what he had to say:

“It’s cool man. We are hiring. If you come here, we won’t test you, or take money out of your pocket for smoking marijuana.”

Corey Graves Admits He Weighed His Options After Daniel Bryan Was Medically Cleared

WWE color commentator Corey Graves had some interesting feelings about the news of former WWE SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan being medically cleared to return to in-ring action after a history of suffering concussions.

The reason for such feelings is due to his career as an active wrestler being cut short because of the same reason. In August of 2011, Graves signed a developmental contract with WWE and he was sent to WWE’s developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).

In the Spring of 2014, he was pulled from action in NXT after suffering a concussion, which caused him to be absent from television for several months. He announced his official in-ring retirement due to his concussion issues in December of that year. It was a bittersweet moment as the door on his wrestling career shut while his career as a commentator began.

Following the 2016 WWE draft, it was announced that Graves would be joining the RAW commentary team. Since then, Graves has brought his entertaining analysis to the main roster by breaking down the matches and storylines on both RAW and SmackDown Live.

Graves was interviewed by Justin LaBar of Triblive to talk about various topics. During the interview, he revealed that he considered trying to get medically cleared to in-ring action after Bryan’s return was announced.

“That day was tough for me. I didn’t know about it. Nobody gave me a heads up. For Bryan, I was stoked. He’s a friend. He’s incredible in the ring. That’s where he belongs. It caught me off guard. I started asking questions to myself, Should I? What if? I had a few conversations with few people [in WWE] who put it out there. If you want to pursue this maybe we can look into it. So I spent about a week and a half weighing the options. It was, do I become a wrestler again and what happens?”

“Exactly. Again, this is all potential of would this work out, do I end up on the sidelines. I talked to my wife, talked to some friends. I think as much as I don’t believe in fate, this all kind of worked itself out so I think this is where I belong so why step out of it?”

Grave also talked about his first night as a color commentator on WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, and more. You can read the entire interview here.
