Read Vince McMahon’s Memo to WWE Employees About his Retirement

Vince McMahon sent an internal message to WWE talent informing them of his retirement from the company, in addition to his tweet and WWE’s press release.

The memo was shared by an Reddit insider and confirmed by F4Wonline.com. McMahon noted that he enjoyed sharing his passion with talent and encouraged them to be everything they can be as a person and a performer.

“To all WWE Superstars: as I approach 77 years old (OMG am I really that old?), I feel it’s time for me to retire. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing my passion, wisdom, and love of the business with you. No longer will you see the smiling, docile, level-headed, calm presence at Gorilla every week.

Your dedication to WWE will ensure that our company will continue to grow and prosper. Our organization is nothing without you. You are WWE’s only natural resource, chosen to perform in front of a global audience.

You are all WWE Global Ambassadors. Carry the WWE flag wherever you go. Wave it high and proud. And bust your ass to be all you can be as a person and as a performer.

One other thing-I won’t be with you, but I’ll be watching. Remember to keep your hands up, grab a hold, and sell. Btw, SmackDown airs live tonight at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central on FOX.

Vince”

Although McMahon is retiring as WWE’s Chairman and CEO and is no longer in charge of creative, he will continue to be WWE’s majority shareholder. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan are WWE’s new co-CEOs.

All of this comes after the reports from the Wall Street Journal about the WWE Board of Directors investigating McMahon over a $3 million settlement that McMahon had agreed to pay a former employee who he allegedly had an affair with and him paying more than $12 million to four women formerly with the company to “suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.”

Wrestling World Reacts to Vince McMahon’s Retirement

Several wrestlers have reacted to the bombshell news on Friday afternoon that Vince McMahon has retired from WWE.

McMahon’s decision to step down as Chairman and CEO came after the Wall Street Journal stories about him paying out $12 million in hush money to cover up alleged sexual misconduct with former talent and employees.

Vince will no longer be involved with the WWE creative process. It remains to be seen how Vince’s retirement affects the day-to-day operations, especially with the weekly TV shows. He still owns the majority of WWE stock, but will no longer be seen backstage at WWE shows. Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon will serve as co-CEOs going forward now that Vince is out.

AEW President Tony Khan wrote an interesting tweet shortly after the news was made where he noted that he is “grateful to now be the longest-tenured CEO in pro wrestling.”

You can see the reactions below:

Brock Lesnar Leaves SmackDown Amid Vince McMahon’s Retirement Announcement

Shortly after the announcement made today by WWE and Vince McMahon that he is retiring from the company, Brock Lesnar made headlines.

F4Wonline’s Bryan Alvarez reported on Twitter that Lesnar left tonight’s SmackDown from TD Garden in Boston, MA.

Alvarez also tweeted out, “Brock’s line was some derivative of, ‘If he’s gone, I’m gone.’”

Fightful Select reports there were immediate internal rumors that Lesnar was “very pissed off” about the news and left SmackDown. They’ve also heard this rumor.

WWE had been promoting Lesnar for this show since last week to further build to his match at SummerSlam where he will challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for the title in a last man standing match.

WWE is still advertising Lesnar for the show along with the following:

  • Maximum Male Models debut Maxine Dupri & their beachwear collection
  • Liv Morgan & Ronda Rousey have a face-to-face confrontation
  • – Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ludwig Kaiser

WWE had a talent meeting with everyone backstage at SmackDown. Triple H, Nick Khan, and Stephanie McMahon are there for it. There will be more fallout throughout the evening.

Another WWE Hall of Famer to be Backstage at Monday’s Raw

WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix are expected to be back on television soon.

As previously reported, WWE is bringing Edge to Monday’s Raw from Madison Square Garden. It’s been rumored Edge will return to resume his feud with Damian Priest and Finn Balor of The Judgment Day after they attacked him several weeks ago as a way to write him off television.

The Judgment Day has promised to crash Rey’s 20th-anniversary celebration when they take on  The Mysterios

Pwinsider.com reported today that WWE is also bringing Phoenix to Raw as well. The married couple is booked to be at WWE SummerSlam. It’s still not confirmed whether they will be wrestling at SummerSlam, but this will be Raw’s go-home edition for SummerSlam so it’s likely.

With Phoenix in the mix, it’s possible WWE does a mixed tag team match with Edge & Beth against Priest or Balor & Rhea Ripley. The former Raw Women’s Champion has been out of action since mid-June with a brain injury.

The married couple last teamed together at the WWE Royal Rumble back in January when they defeated The Miz and Maryse. It also marked Beth’s first match since the 2020 Royal Rumble Match and her first tag team match since WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

Steve Austin On Ric Flair’s Last Match: ‘It’s Gonna Turn Out Great, I Can’t Wait To Watch It’

Steve Austin has weighed in on Ric Flair working his last match over SummerSlam weekend at the ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ event at Starrcast.

The WWE Hall Of Famer is set to team with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in the show’s main event.

Austin, who came out of his retirement and worked his first match in 19 years against Kevin Owens in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Night One, noted in an interview with SportsKeeda’s Bill Apter that he’s looking forward to the match.

“Well, it’s gonna be his final match, so I guess he’s in the mood to have one more go and to prove he was the man,” Austin explained. “I’ve said before, I think he was the greatest traveling world champion that there ever was. There’s a reason he had the belt as many times as he did, because he was that damn good. He lived the lifestyle on the road to the nth degree, let’s say.

“For him to have his final match, I wish him nothing but the best. I hold him in the highest regard and have the highest respect for him,” he continued. “I’m behind everything he does in the ring. So, I look forward to seeing it. I wish I could be there in person. Again, I’m not traveling anywhere right now, but I wish him all the best and I know it’s gonna turn out great and I can’t wait to watch it.”

Edge Returning To WWE TV With His Old Gimmick

Edge is reportedly slated to return to WWE television on next week’s episode of Raw.

On Today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez was asked whether Edge appearing on the show will end up being a swerve with the WWE Hall Of Famer re-joining The Judgment Day stable.

Alvarez said that Rated-R merchandise has already been made for his return.

“I think they’ve already got Rated-R Superstar merch, so I’m pretty sure he’s returning as the Rated-R Superstar. Now what that means as a babyface [or as] a heel, I don’t know. I don’t think he’s coming back to Judgment Day. Especially because he left Judgment Day, he left because he didn’t want to be involved with anything spooky, but then they haven’t done anything spooky [with Judgment Day].”

WWE has been airing vignettes for Edge’s return to TV for weeks, featuring old memorabilia from past rivals such as Randy Orton, John Cena, The Dudley Boyz, and others.

Edge was written off after being attacked by The Judgment Day and replaced by Finn Balor. Considering Edge is returning with his old gimmick, it looks like he will also have his “Metalingus” song instead of continuing to use “The Other Side.”

Wardlow Wants To Bring Back AEW TNT Title Open Challenge

It’s been a big year for Wardlow as he won his freedom from MJF at AEW Double or Nothing before becoming the new TNT Champion after defeating Scorpio Sky a few weeks ago on Dynamite.

Wardlow wants to be a fighting champion like original TNT champ Cody Rhodes was in 2020. His number one goal right now is to bring back the open challenge gimmick that Rhodes did.

He also stated that he doesn’t plan on changing the design of the TNT Championship belt, similar to what past champions Scorpio Sky and Sammy Guevara did.

“That’s actually my number one priority. I want to bring back the open challenge,” Wardlow said in a recent interview with Telegram & Gazette. “I’m not sure if that’s what we’re going to do, but I would definitely like to bring that back. Right now, I have the original design, which I love, and I don’t have any plans to customize it. If they give me the opportunity, maybe I will, but I do love the original.”

Wardlow made his first defense of the TNT Championship a week ago when he took on Orange Cassidy and successfully retained the title.

Wardlow’s next challenger has yet to be determined, and he has not been announced for tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

WWE NXT 2.0 Results (7/19): Title Match, Battle Royal

The July 19, 2022 episode of WWE NXT 2.0 aired live on the USA Network from Orlando, Florida at the Capitol Wrestling Center.

WWE NXT Results

  •
  • JD McDonagh def. Cameron Grimes.
  • Roderick Strong def. Damon Kemp.
  • Axiom def. Dante Chen via pinfall
  • Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen def. Pretty Deadly  to retain the NXT UK Tag Team Championships.
  • Zoey Stark won a battle royal

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

Cora Jade Speaks

Cora Jade broke her silence on this show after costing Roxanne Perez last week in her match against Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Title. Jade previously attacked Perez in the parking lot, but it was a mystery as to who did. After Rose beat Perez thanks to outside interference by Jade, Perez’s former best friend attacked her.

Jade did a promo in the ring about how she should have turned on Perez a lot sooner. She said that fans were originally behind her and she wanted to take her best friend along with her for the ride. The fans were behind Perez and they turned on Jade. She said Perez used her to get to NXT and Perez is a selfish bitch. Jade threw the Women’s Tag Team Title in the trash.

Ready To Rumble

A 20-woman battle royal to determine the new top contender to Mandy Rose’s WWE NXT Women’s Championship took place. Those part of the match included Yulisa Leon, Sloane Jacobs, Lash Legend, Tatum Paxley, Tiffany Stratton, Elektra Lopez, Arianna Grace, Valentina Feroz, Kianna James, Sarray, Wendy Choo, Amari Miller, Fallon Henley, Indi Hartwell, Cora Jade, Alba Fyre, Nikkita Lyons, Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, and Ivy Nile. Zoey Stark made her return.

Rose successfully retained the championship on last week’s show after Jade turned on challenger Roxanne Perez.

The match came down to Tiffany and Stark. They did some near elimination spots including when Tiffy’s foot hit the ground. Stark eliminated Tiffany and then Jade came out of nowhere to try to eliminate her, but it backfired and Zoey eliminated Jade for the win.

Axiom Debuts

Axiom (A-Kid) made his debut on this show when he beat a jobber in a one-sided bout.

There have been vignettes hyping his arrival. The latest one that aired last week featured a wrestler who was shown in a comic book store, then in a ring in a mask.

A-Kid last appeared on WWE programming on the May 26 episode of NXT UK where he lost to Charlie Dempsey in a match taped in April.

JD McDonagh vs. Cameron Grimes

JD McDonagh vs. Cameron Grimes in a singles match took place.

The match opened the show and was a fun back and forth match. JD went over with his finisher.

Last week, they had a confrontation as Grimes was interrupted when he was talking about his failure to capture the NXT title from Bron Breakker at The Great American Bash. McDonagh taunted Grimes over his loss. The two ended up getting into a brawl.

Later in the show, Breakker came out and cut a promo about how he hasn’t forgotten about what JD did to him. This led to JD appearing on the screen where he had a dummy and talked about the ligaments in the shoulder. JD said Grimes hurt Bron, but he will take him out.

Bron said if one day JD will have to face him. JD said an unnecessary evil has arrived in NXT. Bron called him out for a match.

Title Match

NXT UK Tag Champions Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen defended their titles against Pretty Deadly.

WWE set up this match last week when Briggs & Jensen were shown with Fallon Henley at their barwhen Pretty Deadly walked in, dressed like cowboys. They traded words before Henley stopped the fight and said if Pretty Deadly wanted a match, they could get it.

The match took place in the second hour and ended in outside interference thanks to Fallon helping out her guys.

Seth Rollins on Cody Rhodes Wrestling With Torn Pec: “I Didn’t Expect it to Look Like That”

Seth Rollins headlined the WWE Hell in a Cell event in June with Cody Rhodes, who had a torn pectoral muscle.

The pectoral muscle was completely off the bone ahead of the match, and Rhodes, who defeated Rollins inside the Hell in a Cell structure, had a huge bruise covering his upper body.

While speaking with Stephanie Chase for Digital Spy, Rollins noted that he didn’t expect Rhodes to look how he did and felt the same as everyone else in attendance.

“It was pretty gnarly. I don’t think I expected it to look like that. I’ve had some torn muscles in my day, and I know that the blood seeps down, gravity just takes over, but I had never seen anything like that. I remember Triple H had torn his pec some time ago at an event and shared a picture of it, and it was pretty brutal but nothing like what we saw from Cody at Hell in a Cell.

“His bicep, tricep, shoulder, pec it was down to his belly button almost, it was pretty gnarly. It was definitely shocking and I think the way I felt about it was how the audience in Chicago felt. They were just very uncomfortable for the first little bit. I think people were even wary just to cheer for him because it was so wild.”

Rollins stated it’s one of those things that he has never encountered before and was completely new to him to prepare for.

“It was a full hurdle thrown my way that I’d never seen before and so trying to wrap ourselves around it was an interesting process. I think what we got out of it was magic, how we got there wasn’t ideal but that’s life, you gotta roll with the punches sometimes.”

Rollins will face Riddle in a singles match at SummerSlam on July 30 in Nashville.

Chris Jericho Reveals His Funny Nickname For Triple H

Chris Jericho and Triple H were heated rivals in WWE for most of their careers in the promotion. They most notably feuded in 2002 when they headlined WrestleMania 18 for the WWE Title and later worked inside Hell in a Cell.

Although they had moments of animosity behind the curtain, it didn’t stop Jericho from having fun at the expense of Triple H.

During an appearance on the “True Geordie” podcast, the AEW star discussed the nickname he had once bestowed upon Triple H.

“I used to call Triple H ‘Prince Charles,’” Jericho said. “Prince Charles [isn’t] king, right, until the Queen passes away. And she’s been there 30, 40 years. She ain’t going anywhere. Triple H is the Prince Charles of wrestling in that he’s supposed to take it over, but it might be a long time. I think Vince [McMahon] is 78, so it could be another 20 years. And he’s not going anywhere. I don’t think Vince will ever give up the throne.”

For years, Triple H has long been considered a potential successor for his father-in-law, Vince McMahon. A decade ago, he started spending more time at WWE Headquarters instead of on the road, where he transitioned into being an executive.

He has served as Executive Senior Advisor, Executive Vice President, Talent and Live Events, Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative, and in his current role as Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development.

Triple H also launched NXT and transformed their developmental program, although his power with the brand has declined following his health issues last year.

Britt Baker Shares Injury Update On Adam Cole

Adam Cole is just one of the names on the AEW roster that have been bitten by the injury bug over the last few months, with the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Kenny Omega on the shelf while recovering.

Cole last wrestled during the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, where he took the pinfall in a Fatal 4-Way match. He suffered a concussion in that bout.

Before that, Cole had suffered a labrum injury as far back as his AEW World Title program with Hangman Page that he has been working through.

Fellow AEW star and Cole’s girlfriend, Britt Baker, shared an update on his recovery while speaking with Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda.

“Well, he’s definitely recovering and healing, so I hope just like everybody else, that we get to see him back in the wrestling ring soon, but he definitely has to take some time to recover,” she said.

Cole and Baker were the inaugural winners of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournaments amonth before Forbidden Door. For most of June, Cole was not getting physical on AEW television.

They both came up short in this year’s men’s Money In The Bank Ladder before Bobby Lashley & Riddle defeat Seth Rollins & Theory on last week’s Raw. They’ve also been working house shows since late June, with Riddle going over in the majority of their matches.

WWE presents the SummerSlam event on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, that will air on Peacock. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show over the next week. Here is the updated card:

Ric Flair’s Last Match Revealed

The main event for Ric Flair’s Last Match has been revealed.

It was announced tonight that Flair will team with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal with Karen Jarrett in their corner in a tag team match. There was a bloody angle shot to set up this match.

When news broke of Flair wrestling again, it was rumored to be a six-man tag team match with Flair and FTR taking on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. However, Steamboat turned down the match.

Flair made disparaging remarks about Lethal on his podcast after claiming Lethal’s frustration when he found out he wouldn’t be booked for the show. They have a history going back to their time in TNA Wrestling.

Regarding Jarrett, Flair began poking fun at him during a press conference to promote the event and went as far as to hand him a pair of free tickets to the show.

Ric Flair’s Last Match: Final Card, How to Order

Backstage Update On Edge’s WWE TV Return (Spoiler)

It looks like Edge will be making his return to WWE television shortly after being kicked out of the Judgment Day faction.

The WWE Hall Of Famer was last seen when he was attacked by Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley, and Damian Priest on the June 6 edition of WWE Raw.

Since Money in the Bank, eerie vignettes have been airing, appearing to point to the return of the Rated-R Superstar, as there have been various items that point to Edge’s past rivals.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports WWE has internal plans to bring Edge in for the Madison Square Garden WWE Raw event next Monday night. They have yet to confirm whether or not the plan is for Edge to appear on the actual episode.

This will be Raw’s go-home show for SummerSlam, which will air from Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on July 30. WWE is not advertising Edge for the premium live event.

It’s possible WWE books Edge vs. Priest at the event or goes with Edge teaming with Rey Mysterio against Balor and Priest in a tag team match as The Judgment Day has been trying to recruit Dominik Mysterio into their group.

Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing bout at SummerSlam.

Daniel Cormier Had Talks With WWE About Working With NXT Stars

Former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier has been linked to pro wrestling despite never stepping foot inside of the squared circle for a match.

He was supposed to fight Brock Lesnar and even had a tryout as a commentator for WWE. He’s also good friends with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Since retiring from MMA competition, he has transitioned into the UFC commentary booth.

During a Twitter Spaces with Monster Energy, Cormier was asked about potentially working with WWE, and he noted that he had talked with the company a few times about working with NXT Tag Team Champions The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed).

“I actually talk to them quite a bit. I’m friends with a lot of people that are in that company. I speak to Triple H. I’ve got some friends that are competing. My brothers, not my actual brother, one of my friends, Jacob Kasper [Julius Creed], he’s part of the Creed Brothers. They are in the WWE and the NXT Champions. They are the smaller league champions. I’ve been asked a couple of times to do stuff with them for the promotion, but I haven’t been able to make it work. It’s something I want to do,” he said.

The Creed Brothers have been the champions since NXT In Your House 2022.  Cormier trained with Julius, a two-time NCAA All-American at Duke, ahead of his UFC 214 fight against Jon Jones.

Injury Bug Continues to Bite AEW

Andrade El Idolo is the latest AEW star to be sidelined with an injury.

He hasn’t wrestled since his victory over Rey Fenix on the June 22 episode of AEW Rampage, which marked Rush’s AEW television debut as he helped him to score the win.

On Friday’s episode of Rampage, Andrade is set to accompany Private Party to ringside when they take on the Lucha Brothers.

Certain fans have criticized the promotion for how they booked Andrade since he arrived in the company last year. When fans noticed he was being used as a manager on this show, one fan asked AEW President Tony Khan why the former NXT Champion wasn’t wrestling himself.

Khan responded to the fan on Twitter by noting that Andrade has been injured since his Rampage match with Fenix.

“He’ll be ringside for Private Party vs Lucha Bros on #AEWRampage on @TNTdrama tonight, he’s been hurt since the classic vs @ReyFenixMx 3 weeks ago. He got @IsiahKassidy & @Marq_Quen to help him tonight, & Lucha Bros both still want a piece of @AndradeElIdolo & @rushtoroblanco too.”

Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Darius Martin, and Jungle Boy are just some of the wrestlers injured. You can see our updated injury tracker with the full list of names.

The Rock Comments on Daughter Ava Raine Making History in NXT

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s daughter, Simone Johnson, is going under the Ava Raine name in WWE NXT after signing with the company in February 2020. She appeared at two live events this past weekend.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his latest movie, “DC League of Pets,” Johnson commented on Simone’s recent debut at a set of NXT live events.

“She’s made history. Very, very proud of her. She is fiercely independent. It’s very important for her to make her own way, blaze her own trail, blaze her own path. She doesn’t come to me looking for a lot, which I respect that. And I’m here watching and supporting.”

The Rock also praised Montez Ford in this interview by noting that he thinks the former WWE Tag Team Champion is the total package thanks to his charisma and athleticism. He also was asked about wrestling again, and Johnson said he is always open to that.

It’s still unclear when Raine will make her WWE NXT television debut. “DC League of Pets” will be released in theaters on July 29th.

Santana Will Miss the Remainder of 2022

Santana will be on the sidelines for the rest of the year after he suffered a knee injury whilst trying to perform a Rock Bottom during the Blood and Guts match on the June 29th episode of AEW Dynamite between The Jericho Association Society and The Blackpool Combat Club.

The Blackpool Combat Club went over in the match thanks to Claudio Castagnoli picking up the win. Santana’s injury kept him out of action for the majority of the match.

During his appearance on the “True Gordie Podcast,” Chris Jericho updated fans on how long Santana will be out of action.

“He f**ked up his knee from doing a simple Rock Bottom,” Jericho said. “That’s not on top of a cage, that’s not falling off a cage, that’s not getting hit with a barbed wire bat, or whatever. It’s doing a wrestling move, and he’s out eight months.”

Santana and Ortiz made their AEW debut at All Out in 2019, beating down The Young Bucks and The Lucha Bros after their ladder match that saw The Lucha Bros win the titles.

The former LAX members have yet to win gold in AEW. Konnan recently confirmed rumors that the tag team is suffering from a frayed relationship as they have not worked a normal tag team match thus far in 2022 and won’t for the rest of the year now with Santana sidelined.

Santana joins several AEW stars who are injured. You can see our updated injury tracker with the full list of names.

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

Cameron Grimes Speaks

Bron Breakker successfully retained the WWE NXT Title against Cameron Grimes last week in the main event of Great American Bash. Post-match, Breakker was attacked by JD McDonagh.

Grimes came out for a promo where he talked about how he learned from last week and doing the right thing can still not be enough. He said losing the North American Title was just life and losing to Breakker was just life. He said he is destined to be a loser and crashed into the sun.

Out came JD McDonagh who talked about how after Grimes lost to Breakker, Cameron became old news. He said he was the latest news. Grimes called him an a**hole. They started to brawl before JD ducked out of the ring.

Mandy Rose vs. Roxanne Perez

Last week, Perez and Cora Jade defeated Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne for the Women’s Tag Titles. Following the bout, Perez announced that she would be cashing in the title shot that guaranteed her of winning the Breakout Tournament.

At the start of the show, Perez was attacked in the parking lot. Later in the night, Rose came out for the match and cut a promo about Perez isn’t women enough to step up and challenge her tonight. She said she runs NXT and that will never change. Cora Jade came out and said Rose can shut up because her night isn’t over yet because the fans were promised a championship match. Jade said she would step up and take the title from Rose. Perez came out and was selling her ribs.

The match started with Rose beating down Perez. Jade hit Perez in the back with the title and Rose hit the running knee strike for the win. Jade told Perez that she was shelfish before hitting her with the skateboard, which broke in half before it made contact.

Apollo Crews vs. Giovanni Vinci

Apollo Crews vs. Giovanni Vinci was booked in a singles match.

Their bout was set up in an in-ring promo segment on last week’s show. Vinci interrupted a Crews monologue and challenged him to face him.

The match opened the show and was one of the better matches of the night. Crews was distracted by a fan’s phone and then Xyon Quinn attacked Crews o the outside that led to Vinci hitting a powerbomb for the win.

Von Wagner vs. Solo Sikoa

Von Wagner vs. Solo Sikoa in a singles match took place.

This match was made official after Sikoa interrupted a backstage promo segment involving Wagner last week.

The match ended in a double count out. Post-match, they continued to brawl. We are getting a rematch after that finish.

Latest On Vacant WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

There’s been no recent discussion about the vacant WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

The titles have been vacant since WWE stripped Sasha Banks and Naomi in mid-May after the two stars walked out of the company and were suspended independently.

On an episode of SmackDown that same week, WWE announced that a tournament would be held to crown new Women’s Tag Team Champions, but that was the last word spoken of the titles on WWE programming.

Fightful reports that talent they’ve spoken with have noted they’ve received no word of when or if the tag team title tournament will happen. Since that announcement, talent claims they’ve also heard no discussion regarding the titles.

The titles were introduced in February 2019, with Sasha Banks and Bayley being the inaugural champions. Banks and Naomi were the 13th set of champions in the history of the titles, with their reign ending at 47 days.

In the weeks before the titles were vacated, Natalya had been moved into a singles title program with then-SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, while Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley were split up, reducing the number of teams in the women’s division.

Update On The Good Brothers’ Status With Impact Wrestling & NJPW

The Good Brothers will stay with Impact Wrestling for a little longer than expected.

Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson recently confirmed that their current Impact contracts are set to expire this summer (July 17th). However, this has changed since then. Fightful Select reported today that the tag team will stay with the company until “at least late in the summer.”

They originally signed with Impact after being released by WWE in 2020. They were given the same deal Impact offered when they were impending free agents in 2019 before deciding to re-sign with WWE. Gallows and Anderson have also worked a few dates for NJPW this year.

Anderson defeated Tama Tonga to win the NEVER Openweight Championship at Dominion. Regarding their status with NJPW, they are committed to NJPW through at least Wrestle Kingdom in January.

The Good Brothers became the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions for a third time last month at Slammiversary when they defeated The Briscoes for the titles.

It’s still unclear where Gallows and Anderson will work in the United States after their contracts with Impact ends, but the report noted they were told a return to Impact is possible.

Jersey Shore’s Angelina Pivarnick Accuses Carmella of Stealing her Gimmick

Jersey Shore star Angelina Pivarnick has publicly called out Carmella and accused her of gimmick infringement.

Last last week’s episode of WWE Raw saw Carmella interrupt a segment exclaiming ‘umm hello?’, a catchphrase famously used by Angelina in the first and second seasons of the hit MTV reality series.

Angelina took to Twitter to call Carmella out: “Hey @CarmellaWWE you’re using my line !!! Wtf. Sooo you’re from Staten and you’re using ummmm hello too Hmmmmm #weird #comeupwithyourowns**t.”

Carmella replied to Angelina’s tweet with a Mariah Carey ‘I don’t know her’ GIF.

Angelina claimed that Carmella had based her whole gimmick on her in this tweet: “Bitch please. You know exactly who I am and your whole gimmick is based off of me and Staten Island lollllll @WWE @CarmellaWWE Please take several seats girl. Lol. Get your own s**t and cut the crap already. We spoke years ago when u first started with wwe lolllll. Bye.”

Carmella fired back with another GIF of Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino calling Angelina a ‘dirty little hamster’ on the reality show.

Angelina added that she’d be willing to fight Carmella for free: “I will fight her for free. F**k the money. Shows how serious I am. I’m sick of her trying to be me with the umhello catchphrase! Catch these hands for free. Everyone thinks I’m starting s**t which I’m not. She starts all the time with me then pretends she doesn’t know who I am.”

The reality star went off at Kayla Braxton, who had attempted to defend Carmella:

“Well I’m sure the two sides are organizing a civil debate as we speak… Probably…”

Carmella & Natalya lost to Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair & SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan on last week’s Raw.

Netflix’s Vince McMahon Project Has Been Scrapped (Report)

Following two reports by the Wall Street Journal in the last month, Netflix has reportedly scrapped a documentary planned about the life and career of Vince McMahon.

Denise Salcedo reported Friday evening that the McMahon Netflix documentary has been pulled and is off the programming spreadsheet at Netflix. One source at Netflix confirmed it is no longer being listed on their spreadsheet, while another source at Netflix said, “that s**t’s out of here.”

Another source indicated the project had already been “deep” in post-production with several talent interviews conducted months ago, and millions were spent on the project.

WWE first announced during its third-quarter 2020 financials call that they’ve teamed up with Netflix to air a docuseries on the life and career of McMahon.

Bill Simmons served as the executive producer, while Chris Smith, best known from Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, was the director. At the time, WWE touted it as the highest-budgeted Netflix docuseries of all time.

The first report by the Wall Street Journal came out about McMahon allegedly paying a former $3 million in a settlement to stay quiet regarding their sexual relations. The Board of WWE is also investigating other nondisclosure agreements involving misconduct claims made by former female WWE employees about McMahon and WWE’s head of talent relations John Laurinaitis.

McMahon was in the headlines again after The Wall Street Journal reported he paid $12 million in hush money to four women in the past 16 years.

Vince McMahon Traveling to See John Cena (Report)

Vince McMahon is set to meet with John Cena just a few weeks after the former WWE Champion made an appearance on Monday Night Raw.

Over the next few months, Cena is set to begin filming the second season of HBO Max’s “Peacemaker” in Vancouver, BC. Fightful Select reports that McMahon is scheduled to travel from Fort Worth, TX, to Vancouver later tonight after WWE SmackDown.

The word is McMahon flying to the city likely has something to do with Cena, and the word going around backstage at SmackDown is that Cena is the reason for Vince’s planned travel.

During Cena’s return on Raw for his 20th Anniversary celebration, he did not set up his match with Theory at SummerSlam, which had been speculated about due to the stars publicly teasing a match. Instead, nothing was announced regarding his WWE future, as Cena stated he wasn’t sure when he would wrestle again.

WWE has since announced Theory vs. WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley for SummerSlam. As of last week, Cena wasn’t confirmed for SummerSlam, but there had been rumblings the company wanted to lock him in for a WrestleMania 39 match in Hollywood next year.
