7-year-old WWE Fan Reacts to Cody Rhodes Encounter on Raw

WrestleMania 39 headliner Cody Rhodes, one of the fan favorites gave a young fan a lifelong memory to cherish during the latest edition of Monday Night RAW.

As Cody Rhodes made his way to the ring Monday night, he stopped at the end of the aisle and soaked in the electric atmosphere. With thousands of fans screaming inside Van Andel Arena, ‘The American Nightmare’ made his spectacular entrance.

While Rhodes stood at the end of the ramp, one of those screaming fans included the 7-year-old Ava Nawwas of Detroit. She watched her favorite wrestler but didn’t have the slightest clue that it will mark as one of her unforgettable nights. Standing at the guardrail, Ava waved a sign featuring Rhodes’ logo while wearing a shirt featuring the same design. Her mom, Mona, and dad, Ali, were also by her side.

The 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner, was holding a custom-made “Nightmare” weight-lifting belt and looked away from the arena crowd. He turned his attention to Ava. Cody Rhodes, who recently shared his post-WrestleMania plans, stepped toward the railing and extended his arms. He handed his belt to the joyful Ava, creating a beautiful moment shared by WWE on social media.

The fan recalls the moment

“My heart started to beat so fast,” Ava said, recalling how she felt as Rhodes approached her with his arms out. “I was wondering if he was going to give me the belt.”

After Rhodes told Ava to take the belt, he leaned in and gave her a hug before heading to the ring. Ava was emotional once she realized what had just happened.

“I felt love and happiness,” Ava said with a smile, adding that the whole thing felt like a dream come true.

AEW Referee Responds To Ladder Match Criticism

AEW referee has backed fellow officials amid heavy criticism following the latest edition of Dynamite.

Ladder matches are risky gimmick matches in which stars often attempt dangerous spots. Sometimes, the referees could assist the stars in balancing on the ladders. A similar incident happened on AEW Dynamite.

Recently, AEW fans witnessed a jam-packed Face of the Revolution Ladder Match on Dynamite. Powerhouse Hobbs, Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, AR Fox, Sammy Guevara, Action Andretti, Konosuke Takeshita, and Komander competed in the high-stakes match. Eddie Kingston also quit AEW following the match.

It was Powerhouse Hobbs who ultimately won the spectacular contest by retrieving the golden ring. However, various referees held the ladder steady for Hobbs to climb. This incident met with criticism from the fans on social media.

AEW referee Bryce Remsburg responds to Ladder Match Backlash

A user on Twitter called out the spot but, referee Bryce Remsburg came to the defense of his fellow officials.

Check out the conversation below:

Powerhouse Hobbs has earned a shot at the TNT Championship. Samoa Joe will defend his title against Wardlow at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view on Sunday. As it seems, Hobbs will face the winner between Wardlow and the champion Samoa Joe on next week’s episode of Dynamite.

Wardlow and Joe started fighting soon after Wednesday night’s ladder match. After Hobbs’ victory, both Wardlow and Joe destroyed the stage, while Hobbs watched, laughing. Joe, already out to do commentary, was attacked by Wardlow, leading to a massive brawl. It ended with Wardlow hitting a powerbomb on a member of the security team off the stage, sending him crashing into the rest of the security team.

We will now have to wait and see who Hobbs faces in the coming weeks.

Latest on MLW’s Relationship With Reelz

We’ve got an update on Major League Wrestling’s future with the REELZ cable network.

Earlier this week, a report from Variety suggested that MLW Underground will end its tenure on REELZ after the ten-week period. The most recent episode, which aired on February 28, was the fourth episode of Underground thus far.

The distribution deal provides the company the exposure it’s received since MLW relaunched back in 2017. New episodes of MLW Underground air on REELZ Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. EST. Viewership has been quite strong, averaging 83,000 viewers per episode.

REELZ has now released a statement on the future of its relationship with MLW.

REELZ issues statement on MLW

On Thursday, REELZ issued an official statement to PWInsider regarding the future of the New York-based company on their channel. It reads:

“No decisions have been made by MLW or REELZ and we are both committed to a good outcome for MLW, its fans and REELZ.”

The surprising news that MLW’s relationship with Reelz may be limited to only 10 weeks came when Variety reported Peacock is adding the live REELZ feed to their streaming service. The time slot that Underground currently runs will be ‘blacked out’ due to WWE having an exclusive deal with the streaming platform.

MLW has pending litigation against WWE with claims that WWE stopped them from reaching a deal with Tubi and interfered with their relationship with Vice TV. On February 13, the judge on the MLW v. WWE antitrust lawsuit case dismissed MLW’s complaint against WWE. This allowed them to amend their complaint. The ruling came about as the judge believed the company lacked sufficient facts to prove its case.

WWE Files Trademark For Former Star

WWE has filed to trademark the name of another former star, Ezekiel Jackson, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office database.

WWE filed to trademark the name Zack Ryder following the previous lapse in trademark. Matt Cardona(formerly Zack Ryder in WWE) had previously attempted to secure the trademark to his former WWE name but “let it go” when WWE fought his attempt.

WWE files trademark for Ezekiel Jackson

In a trademark application filing dated February 23, the Goods and Services usage description for the “Ezekiel Jackson” trademark includes:

“intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

For those who are unaware, Ezekiel Jackson was signed to WWE under a developmental contract in 2007. He went on to make his main roster debut in 2008. During his run in the company, he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and was the final winner of the ECW Championship. He would part ways with the Stamford-based company in 2014 and announced his retirement in 2015.

Meanwhile, new listings for current WWE stars Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler both for February 23, 2023, are on USPTO.report

NXT Star Wrestles for First Time in 2023

WWE developmental talent Quincy Elliott has finally made his return to the squared circle during NXT tapings this week. This marks their first match in several months. They had been nursing an injury that kept them on the shelf for a considerable period of time.

Quincy Elliott returns to the WWE ring

Fans had been wondering about the status of ‘The Super Diva.’ Elliott made an in-ring comeback at the February 28 NXT Level Up taping, PWInsider. Elliott faced off against SCRYPTS in singles action.

The rising talent’s most recent TV match took place on the October 18 edition of NXT, with Elliott defeating Xyon Quinn via pinfall.

Elliott had also wrestled at the December 17 NXT house show in Tampa, Florida which was also against SCRYPTS, a character which is reportedly inspired from stalker.

It is not known on which episode of NXT Level Up Elliott’s match will air. It is because WWE apparently taped two weeks’ worth of matches during Tuesday’s taping.

Quincy Elliott received allegations of being transphobic

Quincy Elliott had found himself amid controversial matters. They have been a vocal member of the LGBTQ+ community. However, they allegedly used burner accounts to make transphobic comments to a fan.

He previously responded to the accusations. Quincy Elliott had shared a statement on Twitter which read: ‘‘I know some are enjoying the circus, but I want to clarify the topic at question.”

‘’I am being exploited for clout and attention. I am being extorted [for] money by a group of fans hellbent [on] defaming me. I have been harassed for too long and I’m done.’’

Quincy Elliott denied the claims and revealed they are non-binary using They/Them pronouns.

They continued: ‘’I am in no way transphobic. Those who /actually/ know me, know that I am non-binary, and go by They/Them. I have used my platform in hopes to ignite change and inspire, and will continue to be brave for my Besties.’’

MLW’s Deal With Reelz May Be Up After Just 10 Weeks

Major League Wrestling’s partnership with REELZ appears to be a short-term deal, limited to just 10 weeks.

The distribution deal provides the company the most exposure its received since MLW relaunched back in 2017. New episodes of MLW Underground air on REELZ Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. EST. Viewership has been healthy so far, averaging 83,000 viewers per episode.

A new report from Variety suggests that MLW Underground is set to end its tenure on REELZ after the ten-week period. The most recent episode, which aired on February 28, was the fourth episode of Underground thus far.

Earlier this week, news broke that Peacock was adding the live REELZ feed to their streaming service. The time slot that MLW Underground currently runs will be ‘blacked out’ due to WWE having an exclusive deal with the streaming platform.

Court Bauer’s fight league has carved out a niche for itself in an industry dominated by the likes of WWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

The ruling came about as the judge believed MLW lacked sufficient facts to prove its case.

It is uncertain whether MLW Underground will air on a different network following the end of the ten-week run.

Stevie Richards Checks In After Being Discharged From Hospital

Former WWE star Stevie Richards recently got released from the hospital in Florida.

Richards took to his YouTube page on Wednesday to upload a short video clip where he expressed gratitude to those who reached out to him with their best wishes.

“So, as you can see, I’ve been discharged from the hospital,” Stevie Richards said. “We got discharged yesterday afternoon. So thankful and grateful to be back home. The past four to five weeks have been – saying rough is an understatement.”

Furthermore, Stevie Richards revealed that he plans to keep fans up to date with a road to recovery playlist on his YouTube channel. However, the uploads will not be frequent.

Last month, Richards posted an image of himself using a walker and wearing a hospital gown. In the caption for the photo, the 21-time WWE Hardcore Champion said that he was optimistic about being able to recover soon. He promised to reveal the details of what was wrong with him in the near future.

The former ECW star has been treated for a series of health issues. PWInsider reported that he has been dealing with back and spine issues. The report noted that his condition worsened in recent weeks, which is why Richards took a trip to the hospital.

Stevie Richards also suffered a neck injury during an ECW event back in 1997, and Joey Styles noted on WWE.com back in 2008 that Richards had to be on the shelf to get that addressed over a decade later.

Apart from WWE and ECW, Richards has also had stints with TNA/Impact Wrestling, as well as several independent promotions. His most recent match occurred in May 2019 as part of Beyond/WWR Wrestling, where he defeated Anthony Greene, who went by the name August Grey in WWE.

We at SEScoops wish Stevie Richards a full and speedy recovery.

The Judgment Day to Add New Members after WrestleMania 39

WWE star Finn Balor is apparently planning to make new additions to The Judgement Day faction.

The Judgment Day faction comprises of Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, Damian Priest and Finn Balor since last September and they have been one of the mainstays in the programming.

Since Mysterio joined the group, the sinister stable has rarely shown any signs of bringing in additional members. Balor recently discussed the idea of adding more members during the latest edition of WWE’s ‘The Bump.’ It seems that the fans might witness some fresh faces in Balor’s dark stable after the WrestleMania 39 Premium Live Event.

Finn Balor could be expanding The Judgement Day

“We are always planning,” he said.” “The Judgment Day are always planning; we’re always plotting, we’re always scheming. I’m always texting with Damian, we have a group chat with me, Damian, Rhea, Dom. We’re plotting, we’re figuring things out. And trust me, once we get ‘Mania behind us, The Judgment Day will be expanding.”

The Judgement Day was originally created by the WWE Hall of Famer Edge when he portrayed a darker gimmick. He then recruited Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley in order to elevate their position on the roster. However, Edge’s idea backfired when he added Finn Balor to the group. Priest and Ripley turned on ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ ousting him from the group. The latest addition to the heel faction was Dominik Mysterio. He had joined the group after brutally attacking his father Rey Mysterio and Edge.

Finn Balor recently challenged Edge to a match at WrestleMania 39. We are yet to hear what ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ has to say regarding it.

We will have to wait and see what Finn Balor has in store for the fans.

Ric Flair Reveals How Much Money He Made From His Last Match

The two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has revealed that he made a massive amount of money from his last match.

Flair, who is foreseeing a third Hall of Fame induction, is one of the iconic names in the pro wrestling industry. ‘Naitch’ dominated the 80s. His in-ring prowess and mic work set a bar back in the day. However, the hard bumps in the squared circle took a toll on ‘The Nature Boy.’ Over the years he has dealt with several health issues.

However, on July 31, 2022, the 16-time World Champion returned to the ring for the first time since 2011 at the Ric Flair’s Last Match event. He teamed up with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. The event aired on FITE and generated a lot of buzz due to the legendary career of Ric Flair. The match saw some heavy criticism, given his age and the way the legend faked a heart attack during the bout.

Ric Flair reveals how much money he made

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, co-host Conrad Thompson informed Flair that his last match came in third place for the Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic, behind only Vince McMahon’s appearance on WWE SmackDown amid allegations of sexual misconduct and WWE’s continuing relationship with Saudi Arabia.

Ric Flair responded by stating that he made $300,000 dollars with his return to the ring.

“I don’t pay any attention to that. You know what I got to say to that? I made $300,000 dollars. Go f*** yourself. That’s right. I made $300,000 disgusting you. Disgust yourself for $300,000, and get in the shape that I got in. How about that, motherf***ers?” he said.

Flair recently made an on-screen appearance on the 30th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW.

William Regal’s New Role with WWE is a Perfect Fit for the Wrestling Genius

New information is coming out regarding industry veteran William Regal’s recent return to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Regal made his return to WWE on January 4 in the position of Vice President of Global Talent Development. Prior to that, he had a stint with AEW as the on-air mentor of the Blackpool Combat Club.

Regal had asked AEW/ROH President Tony Khan to be let out of his deal with the promotion early so he could return to WWE to work with Triple H again and to be in NXT with his son, who wrestles as Charles Dempsey. He also revealed what he disliked about his AEW run.

William Regal was written off AEW programming during an edition of Dynamite when AEW World Champion MJF attacked him with brass knuckles from behind. This was after Regal turned on Jon Moxley by costing him the title by helping MJF win it from him at Full Gear.

William Regal’s Role in WWE

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has provided some additional details regarding Regal’s new role in WWE. Regal has been at every RAW and Smackdown taping since returning.

The report states that Regal watches and takes notes on every match and meets with talent afterwards to provide coaching on how they can improve their matches. Feedback includes advice on how they can improve their ‘selling’ and physicality.

Regal previously worked with Triple H as an on-screen General Manager for the NXT brand. He also had his duties in recruiting up-and-coming talents. He ended his 22-year run with WWE when he was released from the Stamford-based company in January 2022. As it seems, Regal is having a great time in WWE following his return.

WWE Hall of Famer Wants to Face Rhea Ripley in her Retirement Match

The former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is currently one of the top stars in the women’s division. It has come to light that ‘The Eradicator’ has been considered to be the retirement opponent of a WWE legend.

WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze (a.k.a Madusa) is a trailblazer and one of the greatest female stars to ever grace the squared circle. Her last match was in 2018 when she competed in the 20-woman battle royal at WWE Evolution. She recently expressed her desire to have The Judgement Day member as her last opponent inside the ring.

Speaking to PWMania, Blayze talked about calling out Rhea Ripley. She went on to reveal that they had a backstage conversation during the 30th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW.

Alundra Blayze wants Rhea Ripley as her retirement opponent

“You’re, so funny. I already called her out. And I was walking past the makeup room whenever I was there for Raw XXX and I walked by I said, ‘yo girl looking good.’ Then I came back and stuck my head and I said, ‘you’d probably be a pretty good retirement match.’ She’s like, ‘Oh my God. That’s such an honor.’ She’s so funny. She’s a wonderful girl, though. Woman. Just amazing. I just say girl or kid because probably like 30 years younger than I am. You know?”

Recently, at RAW XXX, Blayze returned to WWE in a backstage segment alongside other legends. She played poker in a tournament put together by fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ron Simmons.

Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley won this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match by last eliminating Liv Morgan. ‘The Eradicator’ has now earned a shot at the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship currently held by Charlotte Flair. They are set to lock horns for the title at WrestleMania 39 this April.

WWE Officials Impressed with NXT Star

NXT star Sol Ruca (real name Calyx Hampton) has been impressing WWE officials in addition to fans of the show.

Coming from a gymnastics background, Sol Ruca is one of the most popular up-and-coming stars to become a fan favorite. She grabbed the attention with her spectacular in-ring moves and sheer athleticism. Her unique finisher Sol Snatcher’ even went viral.

Now, it has been reported that the WWE officials see big potential in her. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE officials are ‘really high’ on Ruca, who will face Elektra Lopez on this week’s edition of NXT.

WWE officials are impressed with Sol Ruca

“That may not be…they’re really high on Solo Ruca for obvious reasons,” Meltzer stated. “Zoey Stark is probably the best opponent to put her in there with, and Elektra Lopez is probably near the bottom of the list of opponents to put her in there with. I guess Lash Legend might be worse.”

Ruca and Zoey Stark are currently entailed in a fiery rivalry that has been boiling in recent weeks. The two faced off in singles action on the February 7th episode, and it was Stark who snatched a cheeky win. However, Sol Ruca made it clear that she wants to face Stark again during a promo segment last week.

Ruca joined the Performance Center in May of 2022. After signing with the company, she made her in-ring debut last June, where she continued to work on the NXT Level Up show. Following a brief run on the show, she made her NXT debut last September.

Dakota Kai Reacts To Losing Women’s Tag Titles on Raw

Dakota Kai is sharing her thoughts about Damage CTRL losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships to Lita and Becky Lynch on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW.

Kai took to Twitter to react to the setback, noting that the pair still have more to give. She wrote, “We have so much more to give. I love @iyo_sky & @itsBayleyWWE with my whole heart.

Becky Lynch and WWE Hall of Famer Lita recently joined forces to win the Women’s Tag-Team Championships. They defeated IYO SKY and Dakota Kai in the main event on this week’s RAW.

Damage CTRL leader Bayley had been interfering in the title match and tried to assist her team in retaining the gold. At one point ‘The Role Model’ used one of the title belts to distract the referee and pulled Lita from the apron to stop her from tagging in.

However, in the closing moments, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus made a shocking return. She ran down to the ring and attacked Bayley to even the odds. ‘Big Time Becks’ locked in the Disarm-Her on Dakota Kai, which gave Lita the opening to hit the Lita-Sault on SKY for the pinfall victory.

Stratus, Lita and Lynch celebrated together in the ring as the show came to a close.

Backstage after Raw, Lita, Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus spoke about the title change.

Britt Baker Talks Current AEW role & Relationship With Tony Khan

Britt Baker is providing a unique look at what it’s like to collaborate with AEW President Tony Khan.

Baker is one of the top female performers in the industry. The former AEW Women’s World Champion been one of the company’s featured stars since its inception in 2019. As she’ll proudly tell you, she is the first woman to get signed by the company.

Baker has been out of action nursing an injury, but she’s remained a mainstay on television. ‘D.M.D.’ is aligned with Jamie Hayter, AEW’s reigning Women’s World Champion.

The first-ever Women’s Owen Hart Cup winner recently spoke with FoxSportsAU about her relationship with Khan, whom she holds a great deal of respect for.

Britt Baker on Collaborating with Tony Khan

“Right now I’m not having weekly matches, I’m not having weekly promos, so it’s a little bit backed off,” said Baker. “I try not to bother him and bug [Tony] because there are 100’s of other wrestlers texting him on a daily basis, I’m sure.”

Baker says Khan has created an environment where talent feel empowered to pitch ideas to him. It’s such a healthy relationship, that he can openly express when he doesn’t love an idea.

“For example, when I was champion, I was texting with Tony several times a week with different ideas, and he was sending me his ideas, and he’s very straight-up with me. He’d tell me ‘Britt, that’s not a good idea, I don’t like that’, or ‘hey, let’s make this better’, and I really appreciate that from my boss.”

Honesty is one of the most helpful tools anyone can ever give you when you’re learning your craft, especially when you’re learning TV professional wrestling. I couldn’t ask for a better boss than Tony Khan and he has helped me so much growing as a performer, as a wrestler, as a human being. He’s really a special guy and we’re lucky to work for him.

Britt Baker on Tony Khan

Britt Baker will be in the corner of Jamie Hayter when she defends her title against Ruby Soho and Saraya at AEW Revolution pay-per-view on March 5.

Jake Roberts Reflects On New Role In AEW

Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts is a pro wrestling veteran with decades of valuable experience. He’s currently signed with AEW and recently began working in a new capacity behind the scenes.

Roberts is regarded as one of the greatest talkers the business has ever seen. His expertise with promos have been studied long after he hung up his boots. He’s now working to impart his mic work mastery on the AEW roster.

The master of the DDT recently spoke with Graham “GSM” Matthews for Daily DDT and opened up on his new role helping talent hone their interview skills.

“They’re not taking the time to develop characters,” Jake Roberts said. “They’ve got a lot of great athletes going out there flying through the air and doing inconceivable things with their bodies, but at the end of the night, nothing sticks. It’s like, ‘What was that? What are they going to do next?’

“It’s because there’s not a character involved and I’d like to see them work on their characters, starting with interviews. That would help a lot. Hopefully I can help some of those guys do better interviews. That’s my new job in AEW and hopefully I’ll do a good job.”

In addition to this, the WWE Hall of Famer clarified that he’s glad to give talent advice if they are inclined to it. Furthermore, he also expressed that it can be “frustrating” to see the same mistakes happen.

Jake Roberts was first featured in the promotion during “The Road to All Out” back in 2019. Following that, he made an appearance on the March 4 edition of AEW Dynamite. The following week, he introduced AEW star Lance Archer as his client.

He has been serving as the manager of ‘The Murderhawk Monster’ ever since. However, Jake Roberts had been dealing with several health issues which put him on the shelf. He also thanked his fans for their support. Both Roberts and Archer returned on the February 24 episode of AEW Rampage. It is also noted that Roberts was featured in the newest edition of A&E’s Biography: WWE Legends, which aired on February 26.

Update On Matt Riddle’s WWE Status Ahead Of WrestleMania 39

WWE star Matt Riddle has been one of the popular stars in the company. He been portrayed as a fan favorite since joining NXT in 2018, but has gotten himself involved in a fair share of controversial matters off-screen.

Riddle was last seen in the WWE ring when he had teamed up with Kevin Owens to face off The Usos on the December 5th edition of Monday Night RAW. Riddle and Owens lost the match. Following the match, it was Solo Sikoa who brutally assaulted ‘The Original Bro’ and he was stretchered out to the back.

At the time, it was widely reported that Riddle was being written off television after failing a drug test and later entered a rehabilitation program.

Matt Riddle Ready to Return

With WrestleMania being right around the corner, WWE typically wants all hands on deck’ to ensure the biggest show of the year features as much star power as possible.

One month out from the big weekend, Riddle is still nowhere to be found on television. On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, “Dave Meltzer provided an update on the former WWE United States Champion and his eventual return.

“He’s been out of rehab for a long time, his suspension has been over for almost a month now, 4 weeks,” said Meltzer. So it may be that they’ve just decided not to use him for Mania & not do anything with him, or maybe they just don’t want to invest in him.”

Despite being off television, Riddle remains active on social media. He recently earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and uploaded a photo of himself showing off his new grill.

Riddle has put a lot of effort into getting himself healthy. SEScoops wishes him the best of luck as he gears up for the next chapter of his WWE career.
