  • Randy Orton Reviews Thursday’s TNA iMPACT! Show

WWE champion Randy Orton wrote on Twitter that he checked out TNA iMPACT! this week for only the “second time ever” and shared his thoughts on the TNA product.

“Samoa Joe can move. Miss working with (Kurt) Angle and Jeff. Coulda done w/o the JWoW segment tho. I enjoyed the backstage stuff for the most part anyway. Something about the realness of the conversations between some of the talent was really well done.”

When a fan seemed surprised that Orton was praising TNA, Orton responded:

“Who said that I do not like TNA? I surely didn’t. Never approved of the 8(sic) sided ring tho. Competition is a good thing.”

Orton put over TNA TV Champion AJ Styles:

“never met him. Can do some amazing things in the ring. IMO has alot to do with tna’s early success.”

He finished with some comments about Ken Anderson, who was outspoken against Orton following his WWE release:

“The only prob I ever had with Ken was him telling the Internet that I used my ‘pull’ to get him fired. Not tru, I have no pull.”

In a 2009 interview with ESPN 540’s “Pro Wrestling Report,” Anderson said he and Orton became  “very good friends” in WWE before their relationship turned sour. At the time, he seemed to blame Orton for his WWE release:

“The fact that he made such a big stink about supposedly dropping him on his head. He literally blew up in front of all the talent including Vince and Stephanie and began to lecture me about how I had to be careful and his health was very important. It just doesn’t make sense to me.”

Sonia, who’s real name is Su Yung, has wrestled for various independent wrestling promotions in the United States including Memphis Ladies Wrestling, LadySports and Glory. She signed a developmental contract with WWE in May and debuted last month in FCW under the name Vannah.

Thomas is British-based women’s wrestler Vickie Skeeles. The 23-year-old was signed to a developmental contract in August and had recently debuted in FCW.

Li is 27-year-old Texas-based independent wrestler Li Fang, who the company recently signed to a developmental contract. Myers formerly competed as Kris Logan in Florida Championship Wrestling prior to being released last year. He was recently re-signed to a developmental contract.

  • J-Woww Talks About iMPACT! & Says She Might Appear Again

Jersey Shore star Jenni “J-Woww” Farley spoke to RadarOnline.com this week about her appearance on tonight’s episode of TNA iMPACT!

Related: Pictures Of J-WOWW From TNA’s iMPACT! Tapings

J-Woww tells RadarOnline that tonight’s appearance may not be a one-time deal:

“Never in a million years would I ever think I would be at TNA so it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m glad I did it. You know, I never thought I could be able to do it; it’s pretty intense, but after getting in the ring and, you know, going in there, the adrenaline rush I could definitely see myself doing something like this in the future.”

A TNA representative commented on working with J-Woww:

“We would definitely love to have her back. She’s a black belt, she’s very athletic and she was very good at this. TNA has worked with countless celebrities and lots of ex-professional athletes…and she got it! She was a very quick learner. She was as physical and ring-smart as you could be given the fact that she’d never done it before and she knows the entertainment side of it.”

  • Booker T Talks About A WWE Return, TNA’s Booking & More

    Busted Open with Booker T
Hosts: Dave LaGreca and Doug Mortman
Mondays and Wednesdays 2-4 PM ET
Sirius 125, XM 241 (note: new channels)

Here are some highlights of what Booker T said about:

Whether He Would return To TNA or WWE: “I’m a free agent… It’s about making a phone call. I left on good terms. I’m pretty good friends with Terry Taylor. I left on good terms with Dixie Carter. But I don’t want to get back on that WWE schedule… I would be willing to do commentary. I’d be willing to work behind the scenes (with WWE).

Why He Went To TNA: “I went there to make those young guys a lot better, guys like A.J. (Styles), (Robert) Roode, Black Machismo, and the list goes on and on… The Main Event Mafia could still be going today… The wrestling business is all about the young guys coming up and taking those spots.”

TNA Rehashing Old Angles: “I feel the past should left in the past. You cannot recreate WCW. TNA was in a great position to move up to the next level.”

Rumors of Him Leaving a Live Event and Not Putting Over Matt Morgan: “It was one live event, overseas, and there was not any security. The fans were throwing full cans of beer. I felt unsafe working in that environment… I did not want to put over Matt Morgan that night because I had never had a segment with Matt Morgan.”

  • Bobby Lashley Talks About His MMA Future

Former pro wrestler turned Mixed Martial Arts fighter Bobby Lashley spoke to Sherdog.com this week about his future in MMA.

Lashley, who suffered his first MMA defeat this summer at the hands of relative unknown Chad Grigg, says he’s planning to fight again in December whether its for Strikeforce or another company:

“This year has been tough with the injuries I’ve had; plus I got mono. I’ve started back with my training and there have been a couple of fights come up that I’ve given a thumbs up to, and I’ve tentatively got a fight scheduled. It’s December 10th or 11th, but I have to wait on saying who it’s with. There’s two different organizations that I’m talking to. I have to get out there and fight.”

Lashley says he asked Stikeforce for a rematch with Griggs, but isn’t sure if that’s in the cards:

“I asked Strikeforce for a rematch (with Griggs), but I’m not sure if it’s in the works. I don’t really know what’s in my contract. The last thing I want to do is do something to violate my contract. After my last fight, I owe it to Scott Coker and to the world to come back stronger.”

  • JR Blog: Batista’s MMA Career, Nexus, Bragging Rights

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Nexus: “The Nexus storyline has been one of the better ones in the WWE in a long while. Now as it maturates and moves forward guys like Justin Gabriel, who had a nice bout with Orton Monday Night, needs to become known for more than his dynamic 450 Splash. Same for Otunga and Slater. What are their lasting claims to fame going to be? Now is a pivotal time for these members of NXT to begin to erase the prominent ‘sidekick’ logo that’s figuratively stamped on their foreheads and either take a more impactful role with NXT leader Wade Barrett or begin to subtly move away from Barrett’s reign.”

WWE Bragging Rights: “Why is it exactly that MNR and SDown have such a fierce rivalry? What’s at stake other than ‘Bragging Rights?’ Has SD been bragging about their tag team victory since last year’s PPV?  Would it be more viable if something tangible was at stake to the winning team in the Raw vs. Smackdown Tag Bout on the October 24 PPV that emanates from Minneapolis?”

Batista Doing MMA: “As I have written before, Dave Bautista is serious about his MMA career and is realistic in that Dave knows that by getting such a late start in the game that he will have to accelerate his training and then maximize the time that he has to be physically productive in a MMA environment. UFC would not be a good place to seek employment for Dave but his negotiations with Strikeforce do make sense. If the two sides can strike a win/win financial deal and Showtime finally figures out how to promote a fight and make it be perceived as special while at the same time build a star on all the platforms that are available to them, then a Bautista-Strikeforce arrangement could help all involved.”

  • Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas Returning to Ring of Honor

Ring of Honor sent in the following announcement on Tuesday:

Ring of Honor is proud to announce that Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, the World’s Greatest Tag Team, have been signed to appear at the ROH on HDNet national television tapings in Louisville, Kentucky December 9th and 10th. The events, “ROH–TWO NIGHTS ONLY”, will mark the first time ROH’s TV program has been taped outside Philadelphia, and was selected for two nights in a row in Louisville because of the tremendous demand for seats at the July debut event.

Haas and Benjamin are both looking forward not only to returning to Ring of Honor, but to the city in which both of them lived and wrestled early in their careers. Shelton, in particular, underwent his first wrestling training in Louisville in 2000 with Ohio Valley Wrestling under ROH executive producer Jim Cornette and OVW Owner Danny Davis.

“I can’t wait to come back to the Davis Arena”, Shelton said, “because the Louisville fans and OVW are like home. In New York, the ROH fans took to Charlie and I like we’d been there all our lives. Mix them both and these will be two really big nights for us.”

Charlie is equally as excited. “The ROH fans reignited my passion for wrestling, the passion I had when I was wrestling for Danny Davis in Kentucky and Les Thatcher in Ohio in developmental. We wouldn’t miss the chance to come see those people again.”

There are five other ROH stars appearing on those tapings that might have an interest in the appearance of the two men that many call The World’s Greatest Tag Team–the current ROH Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling with their manager Shane Hagadorn, and Mark & Jay, the Briscoe Brothers. All three of these teams have a claim to being the best tag team in wrestling, and many supporters to back them up. It’ll be interesting to see all of them under the same roof, along with 25 other superstars and 12 big matches each night, at the home of OVW — The Davis Arena at 4400 Shepherdsville Road in Louisville.

A select number of VIP seats remain, as well as general admission, but we expect demand for tickets to exceed capacity on Thursday, December 9th and Friday December 10th, so please make your advance ticket orders if you are coming to avoid being left out. The Champions’ Table package is still available for the December 9th event. You get two leather recliners with a table, on a riser less than 15 feet from the ring, comes complete with waittress service and all 2 can eat or drink from the concession stand all night, for only $150. To purchase the Champion’s Table, you must call the office directly at (215) 781-2500. All other tickets are available to purchase at https://www.rohwrestling.com/store.php?sec=cat&cat=30.

  • Details On Batista’s MMA Debut & Meetings With Strikeforce

We’ve got some details on former WWE superstar Dave Bautista’s Mixed Martial Arts debut.

Bautista was backstage at Saturday’s Strikeforce MMA show in San Jose, California and met with several company officials, including CEO Scott Coker. According to various sources, Buatista is said to be very close to signing a deal with Strikeforce and plans to make his professional MMA debut in early 2011.

He has been training MMA full-time since leaving WWE earlier this year and is said to be very eager to show everybody what he’s capable of inside the cage.

There have been reports that Batista was looking to get $500,000 for his MMA debut. A name that’s been thrown a lot as a future opponent of Batista is fellow former WWE star Bobby Lashley, who is currently negotiating a new contract with Strikeforce.

  • What Happened After RAW, WWE’s Reaction To J-Woww In TNA

    – In a dark match that took place after Monday’s WWE RAW went off the air, WWE Champion Randy Orton defeated Sheamus and Wade Barrett in a three-way match after Orton hit the RKO on Sheamus for the win.

    – Joey Styles took a shot at TNA on his Twitter last night:

“Zack Ryder reminds me of MTV’s Jersey Shore. By the way, who do you think is dumber, Jersey Shore’s Ronnie or whomever writes TNA?”

    – Speaking of Jersey Shore and TNA, the buzz within WWE about TNA landing Jersey Shore star Jenni “Jwoww” Farley for a television appearance has been minimal. Many within WWE feel that the J-Woww appearance won’t help TNA much,  because the media views WWE as the only real wrestling promotion.

  • Mickie James Denies She Caused Problems At Bound For Glory

New TNA Knockout Mickie James has responded to Internet reports that she was causing problems backstage at Sunday’s Bound For Glory PPV. According to various reports (and our own sources), Mickie James became very angry when she saw the referee shirt she was supposed to wear did not have her logo on the back. She, however, denies the reports. She wrote on Twitter Monday night:

“I usually don’t even bother to entertain ignorance. But to report blatant lies is quite humorous… Anyone who knows me… Knows I would never behave like that… And they also know I respect & appreciate everyone as we all work hard as a team to make an incredible product. Fact! The seamstress already knew she was putting the logo on the shirt Thursday. Fact. I bought a ref shirt to make but when Earl gave me one of his official TNA shirts I couldn’t resist. Fact. Post match I gave the shirt to the trading card company to be cut up and added to the new cards coming soon. =)”

  • Sheamus Liked, Taker-WM27, Ideas To Raise PPV Buyrates

    – RAW superstar Sheamus is well-liked by many backstage in WWE, including influential power players Triple H, John Cena and Randy Orton. Each of them had feuded with Sheamus and gave his his in-ring work and overall attitude high praise. The belief is that he’s one of the true success stories of WWE’s recent youth movement and he’ll be a main eventer in WWE for a long time.

    – WWE officials are already discussing who will wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVII. As of last week, the top pick to face the “Dead Man” next April is Sheamus. John Cena has also been discussed as a possible opponent.

    – One of the biggest stories of the year has been the steady decline of WWE PPV buyrates. Many say there are too many PPV events, they’re too expensive and the gimmick-based shows just don’t work. WWE is working on ideas to help buyrates, but none of them address these issues. One idea being tossed around within WWE recently is to go back to holding a live pre-game show to push late buys for the event. The company used to do this for years (Sunday Night Heat0 and later dropped it when it wasn’t considered to be cost effective.
