  • What You Didn’t See On Raw: Dark Match, Farewell Lilian

Thanks to reader James Cohorn for sending in these live notes from last night’s WWE Raw from Little Rock, Arkansas:

Pre-Raw Dark Match: The dark match was Eric Escobar vs. Jamie Noble. Escobar received a lot of heel heat and Noble was receiving a surprising good reaction. Noble won with a flying legdrop from the ropes.

WWE Superstars Match: Chris Masters wrestled Primo.

Live Notes: I would estimate the crowd at around 8-10,000 people. The crowd was pretty live for most of the night. I was sitting near the stage area and could see Brian Christopher and I believe Scott Taylor in the backstage area. My friend saw Rodney Mack and Jazz in the concourse before the show so i guess they were visiting. Mack and Jazz run a weekly independent show In Jonesboro, Arkansas, which is about 2 hrs from Little Rock.

I enjoyed the opener and then the beatdown that Legacy put on DX. The contract signing segment seemed to drag on and on until Show and Jericho and MVP & Henry came out. The Cedric and Chavo match was pretty boring. I can’t believe that are still giving us this Hornswoggle and Chavo crap. The crowd seemed to eat it up when Horny came out from under the ring. I am not sure who the tall masked guy was.

Post-Raw Dark Match: The dark match main event was DX & John Cena vs. Randy Orton & Legacy. Orton & Legacy started triple teaming Cena before DX ran out. After DX came out they had Orton cornered and Legacy left. All of the faces hit their signature moves on Orton, who then left, so there was really no match. DX then started to do their speil with Cena. Triple H said that Cena needed to move his hips so he could get in the flow. As they started saying for the 1,000’s in attendance and the millions watching at home, Triple asked what time it was. Someone in the audience said that it was 10:18. Michaels said that they were not live so that it was just the 1,000’s in attendance.

Goodbye Lilian: Triple then started again but said that something was missing. They then brought Lillian in. Triple then started a Shopzone spiel. Triple H then said for the 1,000’s in attendance and the millions not watching around the world and Lillian Garcia because it may be her last night. They then proceeded to the two words part. Lillian then joined in with DX on the if your not down with DX part. DX then left and shook hands with the fans.

After DX left, they started playing the Eisley Brothers song “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life” for Lillian. Her fiancé then came out to the ring and they started dancing to the song while in the ring. Lillian left and then shook hands with the fans. This was truly a great moment.

Xplosion Match: Kiyoshi vs. Amazing Red
Red wins after a running shooting star press when Kiyoshi misses a top rope moonsault.

    Impact:

Show of course opens with the M.E.M. Already in the ring. Kurt says most of the Mafia retained their dominance, but claims he didn’t lose the title to AJ, he was screwed by Matt Morgan who “turned on him” during the match.  Kurt announces himself vs. Morgan at BFG.  Out comes World Elite arguing that THEY are the most dominant force noting that Eric saved Kurt from Hernandez and tonight Kurt will return the favor and help EY take Hernandez out.  Booker takes the mic tearing down W.E., Angle stops Booker and says he is a man of Integrity and will team with Eric Young tonight.

    Street Fight: Suicide vs. Pope
Pope attacks Suicide during his entrance. Few funny spots with of all things, a tambourine. Crown was totally into this one chanting out weapons for both men to use.
Suicide wins after a DOA on a trash can.
(Just a side note, Pope is WAY over in the Impact Zone)

    Rhino vs. Brother Devon
Devon attacks Rhino during his entrance. Match ends in a no contest. They both are busted open and brawl til security comes out and tries to separate the 2.  Brother Ray comes in and orders to security to leave the ring. Ray screams at the two saying they should be fighting together. They stand in the middle of the ring and Ray raises both their hands and while Devon isn’t looking Rhino gores Brother Ray.

Backstage Segment with Mick and JB talking about finding the person who ruined the Tweet and Tweak Picture in Mick’s office.  Someone is selling their trading card for $300, they think this person is their perp

Coming out is the NEW TNA Champion AJ Styles. Saying after 7 LONG years he is champion.  The whole Impact Zone chants, “You deserve It.” He dedicates the title to the Fans and Sting as well.  AJ asks Sting to join him in the ring. Sting told its not about him its about him its about AJ. AJ recognizes Sting not pinning Kurt and going after Morgan so AJ can get the win. Sting gave AJ nothing and he earned the title. They go back and forth and AJ says he is going to do something for Sting so he gives Sting an opportunity to wrestle him for the World Title at Bound for Glory. They shake hands and its on.

Knockout Tag Titles: champions Sarita and Taylor Wilde vs. ODB and Tara
Great back and forth match. Kong comes out and fights Tara to the back. Champs win with the spring board dropkick/german suplex combo. Tara comes out and tries to explain to ODB what happened and they get in each others faces and Tara knocks the flask out of ODB’s hand.

Backstage JB and Mick interrogate Lethal Consequences about the picture. They don’t think it was them but accuse Alex Shelley.

X Division Title: Daniels vs. Homicide vs. Joe
Lots of working together between Joe and Homicide before they turned on each other. Finish was Homicide tapping out to the rear naked choke.  Funny note: Homicide went to get a chair out of the crowd and the person he got the chair from was none other than Vince Russo…oops, that probably won’t make the air!

Eric Young (w/ Bashir and Kiyoshi on commentary) and Kurt Angle vs. Hernandez and Matt Morgan
Morgan and Hernandez win after Angle pulls Young in front of a bicycle kick.
Post match Bashir and Kiyoshi confront Angle and Angle lays them out. British Invasion comes down and stares Kurt down and then Booker and Steiner come out and stand at the top of the ramp. Kurt walks right past British Invasion to Steiner and Booker and the 3 leave together.

Backstage, Foley and JB with the Guns. Sabin says the duo would never make CSI because they were at ringside doing commentary when the picture was destroyed. The Guns point out the surveillance camera in Mick’s office and they will review that.

    Jethro Holiday vs. Bobby Lashley
Lashley wins by submission and the 2 shake hands after the match.

Main Event Tag Title Match: Steiner and Booker vs. Foley and Abyss
Foley comes out with the surveillance tape and puts it with Taz and Mike Tenay. Foley double arm DDTs Abyss and then tags him in so Booker and Steiner get the win and retain. Foley gets a mic, Abyss destroyed the picture and Foley attacks Abyss and breaks it over his head. He blames him for stealing his bat, costing him the Legends Title, and destroying his most prized possession. JB comes out and tells Foley he’s learned his lesson. Foley goes to leave with JB but grabs his barbed wire bat instead and goes back in the ring to destroy Abyss to close the show.

  • Al Sharpton Hosting Raw, Kanye West Rumor Killer

Jim Ross updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. In the blog, JR confirms a big name hosting Raw next week, addresses the rumor of Kanye West to WWE and discusses whether the planned Jeff Hardy DVD has been shelved.

Next week’s Raw guest host: “The Reverend Al Sharpton is guest hosting Monday Night Raw next week for the show that emanates from Albany, New York. Reverend Al is a charismatic individual who definitely elicits a response out of a wide spectrum of individuals. It will be interesting to see how Reverend Al defends himself when the main stream media comes after him asking Sharpton why he’s appearing on Monday Night Raw. Hey, I think it’s a fun idea as Sharpton has a quick wit and can be awfully entertaining at times and I will definitely watch Raw to see how things go but you can bet your last rib that Reverend Al will be raked over the coals by some near sighted good on one of the seemingly endless news programs because of next Monday’s Guest Hosting role.”

Kanye West To WWE?: I even saw on the ‘net that it was alleged that WWE had offered Kanye “$10M” to step in the ring and wrestle which is so outlandish and ridiculous that it’s insane. I can see why some wrestling websites do all they can to distance themselves from other sites as I read recently where I was in another state having a clandestine meeting with a company which was totally untrue. There was no meeting nor was I in the city that I was, according to a wrestling website, seen by eye witnesses.

Whether WWE has canceled the planned DVD on Jeff Hardy or not: “To the best of my knowledge, the WWE hasn’t pulled the plug on the Jeff Hardy DVD as of yet. With so much legal maneuvering still ahead I can see this project become slowed until more info is available or postponed. However, as has been said many times in this and many other businesses, controversy creates cash. As I understand it, and this is certainly subject to change, the Jeff Hardy DVD will be released prior to the holidays around the first of December.”

  • Lacey Von Erich Signs With TNA Wrestling

Independent women’s wrestling promotion Wrestlicious has announced they have released Lacey Von Erich out of her contract early so she can sign with TNA Wrestling. The following press release includes quotes from the wrestling diva:

WRESTLICIOUS AND TNA ELEVATE LACEY VON ERICH PLATFORM
(Los Angeles, CA)  September 21, 2009

In a landmark arrangement, Wrestlicious LLC has agreed to release Lacey Von Erich from her exclusive contract 45 days prior to its’ expiration.  This move will allow Lacey to pursue an immediate roster position with TNA Entertainment.  The third generation wrestler and actress made headlines by signing with the action/comedy television show “Wrestlicious” in mid 2008.

Under the Wrestlicious/TNA agreement, Lacey will continue to tape segments for Wrestlicious, and will appear as part of the ensemble cast in the series’ upcoming television episodes.  She is expected to debut on TNA “Impact” this week.

“We realized that this is a terrific opportunity not only for Lacey, but also to enhance both brands” stated Wrestlicious Senior Producer Johnny Cafarella “We worked together with TNA Director of Talent Relations Terry Taylor and his great team to make it  happen.”

“Hopefully, this will encourage a new spirit of cooperation among professional wrestling organizations with respect to talent contracts” Cafarella continued. “The Von Erich name transcends individual company boundaries which makes Lacey Von Erich the perfect candidate with which to launch this initiative.”

“I am super excited about working with TNA, and really thank Wrestlicious for their support, flexibility, and bringing me to the wrestling forefront.” Lacey Von Erich enthused. “I feel like Wrestlicious recognized my potential early on and gave me the chance to prove myself”

“We enjoy working with Lacey, she is a beautiful person. We extend our sincere best wishes and congratulations to her” said Wrestlicious founder Jay Vargas. “We hope for her continued success in her new endeavor, which would be a win-win-win situation for Lacey, TNA and Wrestlicious.  We’ve always known Lacey is Wrestlicious, now she’s a Knockout, too!”

Lacey joins fellow Wrestlicious alumnus Ashley Simmons and Shannon Spruill in TNA.

Since then, it has been rumored that TNA President Dixie Carter was looking to shake up the company’s creative structure. There were several familiar faces backstage in Orlando on Sunday for TNA’s No Surrender Pay-Per-View and the new structure is starting to take shape.

Former WWE and WCW writer Ed Ferrara was backstage at the PPV and was working on pre-tape segments for the show. Jeremy Borash has also been added to the TNA creative team, according to PWInsider.com. At this point, it appears the new creative team consists of Vince Russo, Ed Ferrara, Matt Conway, and Borash.

  • Undertaker’s Health In Question – Retirement On The Horizon?

    Source: PWInsider.com

After his work in Puerto Rico several weeks ago, there is backstage concern about the health and long-term viability of The Undertaker.

In terms of his last hiatus from the ring, several sources are claiming that The Undertaker actually had hip replacement surgey after WrestleMania, not minor surgery which was originally reported. Regardless, there was concern at the time that the problem may stop him from competitive in the ring again.

Many wondered why his match at Breaking Point only ran around the nine minute mark, and it is because he has been complaining of suffering from pain lately and his visibly slowed down as a result.

Considering all of this, there has been talk that Taker may be looking at retirement after next year’s WrestleMania.

    Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida
Report by: Sean Hopkins of Wrestling News World

We get a video highlighting all of the feuds going into tonights pay-per-view to start things off.

The Beautiful People vs. Taylor Wilde & Sarita
Finals of the Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament

It look like the Women’s tag team match will be starting things off tonight as TNA will look to crown their first ever Knockouts Tag Team Champions. Mike Tenay and Taz reference TNA and Angelina Love parting ways, to explain why Rayne is tagging with Sky once again. All four women are shown the tag team belts, and for some reason Earl Hebner makes his way to the ring to confront Slick Johnson. Henber sends Johnson to the back and it looks like Hebner will be refereeing this match. Sarita and Wlde get the jump on the beautiful people and they’re able to keep their advantage, using some pretty impressive double team work. Rayne tags in and quickly falls victim to a drop toe hold from Wilde. Sarita tags in, but Rayne grabs her hair and sends her down to the mat. Rayne kicks away at Sarita in the corner and tags in Sky. The Beautiful People tie up Sarita’s arms and slam her to the mat. Sky chokes Sarita with her boot and goes for the pin, but she can only get a two count. Rayne tags in and hits a quick neckbreaker, trying for an unsuccessful pin of her own. Sky tags in and Sarita gets a second win, hitting a big momentm changing DDT. Sarita tags out to Wilde who comes in and cleans house on the Beautiful People, hitting a big backbreaker on Rayne. Wilde and Sarita hit a big double team finisher, Sarita hits a springboard dropkick right into a German suplex from Wilde. Wilde bridges into a pin and gets the three.

Winners and NEW Knockouts Tag Team Champions: Taylor Wilde and Sarita

Lauren is backstage with Taylor Wilde and Sarita. Wilde says she knew it, ever since she stepped into the Impact Zone with Sarita. Sarita says they plan on having the belts for a long time. Jeremy Borash is backstage with the World Elite. Apparently EY has been telling people there’s a chance that Hernandez will be joining the WE, and how he thinks that’s still possible. EY says that he cares about Hernandez because he’s their brother. EY says he isn’t even dressed to wrestle, and he will not touch him, and he’ll take his best shot to prove that he’s sincere. EY says Hernandez will come home to the WE.

    Hernandez vs. Eric Young
    Grudge Match

Eric Young is out first in a suit, followed by Hernandez who comes out with his Feast of Fired case in hand. Hernandez attacks Eric Young right off the bat, sending him over the ropes to the outside with a massive shoulder block. EY is still not fighting back. Back in the ring, Hernandez hits a big border toss and covers EY for the three count.

    Winner: Hernandez

JB is backstage with Matt Morgan, he reminds him that Angle said tonight it will be every man for himself. Morgan says no more tricks, no more head games, just pure violence. Morgan says tonight is about him and Angle. Morgan says tonight is what the world’s been waiting for. He says he can feel the burn in his hand from the torch he’s going to rip out of Angle’s hand.

    Samoa Joe (c) vs. Daniels
    TNA X Division Championship Match

There’s an excruciatingly long video package (that’s already been show about five time in the pre-show), and Taz and Tenay also decide to break down the match even further, eating up more and more time before Daniels finally makes his way to the ring. Joe makes his way out to the ring where he poses with his title. Both men lock up and Daniels uses his speed to try and get the advantage over Joe, but ever a couple of dropkicks is unable to bring Joe to his knees. Joe takes Daniels down with a big shoulder block, and he sets Daniels up in the corner where he immediately beats him down with lefts and rights. Joe sets Daniels up on the top rope, but Daniels fights back and takes Joe down with a big hurricarana that sends Joe to the floor. Daniels is quick to follow out with a big dive through the ropes. Back in the ring Daniels tries to make the most of his advantage with a neckbreaker. Daniels takes Joe to the corner and tries for another high risk move, but Joe catches Daniels and sends him straight down to the mat. Joe kicks Daniels square in the chest and drops a big knee before going for a cover, but Daniels is able to kick out at two. Joe locks in a nerve hold and the crowd is trying to get behind Daniels.

Daniels finally fights out of the submission, but he falls victim to another shoulder block, and Joe is right back to the nerve hold. Daniels fights out of the submission again, but the time gets hit with a big powerslam. Joe goes for a cover, but he can only get two. Joe wails away on Daniels with some big chops, but Daniels fights back with a jawbreaker and a quick enzugiri. Daniels and Joe fight in the middle of the ring, with Daniels getting the advantage with a jumping leg lariat. Daniels hits a big bulldog and goes up to the top rope. Daniels hits a big guillotine leg drop and Joe rolls to the outside, where Daniels follows with a split leg moonsault. Daniels has a hard time getting Joe back into the ring and Joe uses that to his advantage, sending Daniels into the ringpost, and then the steel steps. Joe puts Daniels on the ring apron and when Daniels stands up, Joe hits him with a clothesline to the back of the knee. Back in the ring, Daniels tries to fight back against Joe, but Joe uses an innovative knee buster to put Daniels back on the mat. Joe locks in an ankle bar that causes Daniels to scream, but he’s able to make it to the ropes and force Joe to break the hold. Joe picks Daniels up and hits a big powerbomb, which he rolls over into the STF. Joe abandons the STF and locks in a single leg Boston crab, but Daniels in able to get into the ropes again and force a break. Daniels is able to fight back with a neckbreaker and both men are down on the mat. Daniels is first to his feet and both men square off in the middle of the ring, with Daniels getting the upperhand with a flurry of offense. Daniels trips Joe and goes up top for a top rope clothesline which he quickly follows up with a pin but Joe kicks out at two. Daniels hits a lungblower, but again it’s only good for a near fall. Daniels tries for a suplex but Joe fights out and hits a big half nelson suplex which is only good for a near fall.

Daniels fights back with an STO and he tries for the BME but Joe moves out of the way. Daniels lands on his feet but Joe hits a kick to the head. Joe tries for the muscle buster but Daniels fights out. It’s just a crazy series of reversals, that culminates in Joe locking in the rear naked clutch. Joe wraps his legs around Daniels’ body and forces him to tap out.

Winner and STILL TNA X Division Champion: Samoa Joe

JB is backstage with Mick Foley. He says Foley looks a little distraught. Foley says he walked into his office last week and someone destroyed the caricature of he and JB. Foley says you can’t just duplicate something like that. Foley says he will find the perpetrator and he will take action after he does guest commentary for the Nash/Abyss match. Lauren is backstage with Dinero who talks about why the match is going to take place tonight. Dinero talks a bunch of nonsense, that prompts Lauren to ask him what he’s talking about. Dinero drinks some 6 hour Power drink and Suicide attacks him from behind and I guess this match is on.

    D’Angelo Dinero vs. Suicide
    Falls Count Anywhere Match

Suicide and Dinero brawl out in the back and Dinero throws Suicide into a wall before climbing some boxes backstage and hitting a big elbow drop. Suicide fights back and locks in a small package but Dinero is able to kick out at two. This really isn’t anything more that just a fight. Dinero sits Suicide down in a chair and he beats on him. Dinero charges Suicide but he gets backdropped into a trash dumpster where Suicide gets a near fall. Dinero gets into a golf cart and he tries to run over Suicide, but Suicide dodges is and pulls Pope out, continuing the brawl all around the backstage area. The two men finally make their way into the Impact Zone where Dinero is able to get the jump on Suicide. Dinero lays Suicide’s head on the ring bell and hits it with the hammer. Things finally move into the ring where Suicide hits a springboard missile dropkick that scores him a near fall. Pope rolls to the outside where he’s caught with a springboard crossbody. Suicide goes for a table, but Dinero is able to stop him with a dropkick through the ropes. Dinero sets up the table next to the ramp and he hits a big suplex on the ramp. Dinero tries for a cover, but Suicide kicks out at two. Dinero tries to suplex Suicide off the ramp onto the table, but Suicide fights out and takes Dinero down with a clothesline. Suicide tries for his finisher, but Dinero fights out. Dinero almost knocks Suicide off the ramp, but instead he catches Dinero with a big dropkick.

Suicide goes backstage and brings out another table which he sets up on the entrance ramp. Suicide hits a Finlay roll on the entrance ramp after going for it once and failing. Suicide puts Dinero on the table and Suicide looks to the top of the entrance tube that the wrestlers come out of. Suicide goes to the top of the entrance tube and he comes off with a big leg drop but Dinero moves out of the way. Dinero covers Suicide and the ref counts to three.

    Winner: D’Angelo Dinero

    ODB vs. Cody Deaner
    TNA Women’s Knockout Championship Match

Tenay and Taz have some technical difficulties, and they aren’t too professional in handling them (Tenay talks back to his producer). Apparently they’re dropping the tale of the tape and just going straight into the match. Deaner is out first to not much fanfare, but ODB gets a ton of support from the crowd when she comes out. ODB rubs Deaner’s t-shirt and hat in her crotch before hitting him with a couple of chops. Deaner tries for one of his own, but ODB ducks it and hits a couple more chops. ODB chops Deaner until he begs her to stop, Deaner goes for a low blow, but it doesn’t affect ODB who comes back with another chop. Deaner bails to the outside but ODB follows with a cross body from the top rope. Deaner tries to run up the entrance ramp but ODB brings him back to the ring, where she slams his head on the apron and sends him back in the ring. ODB goes for the dirty dozen, but Deaner grabs her leg and sweeps her off of the top turnbuckle. Deaner teases hitting ODB, but he pushes her to the mat instead. Deaner chokes ODB on the middle rope and he hits a delayed body slam. Cody grabs ODB’s flask and takes a drink before climbing to the second rope, but when he jumps off, ODB gets a ‘crotch claw’ and sends Deaner across the ring. ODB connects with the dirty dozen and hits a Thesz press from the top rope; she goes for the pin but Deaner kicks out at two. Deaner goes for a quick pin with his legs on the ropes but the ref catches it. The ref and Deaner get into an argument with the ref shoving Deaner and it causes a near fall.

ODB goes for a sunset flip but Deaner gets to the ropes, instead of breaking it the ref kicks Deaners arms and causes another near fall. ODB gets Deaner on her shoulders but Deaner fights out and hits ODB with a big punch to the face. Deaner goes for the cover but ODB kicks out at two. Deaner goes to the top rope and dives off but ODB moves out of the way. ODB hits a big TKO and covers Deaner for the three count.

Winner and NEW TNA Knockout Champion: ODB

Lauren interviews ODB on the ramp. She says she may not like the women in the back, but she’s proud to honor the title, so let the party begin.

Kurt Angle is backstage with JB. Angle is talking about Morgan saying he’s big, bad and brainless. Angle says if height and body mass were the measure of a champion, Morgan would be the champion. Angle says that he guarantees tonight will not have a happy ending because it’s going to be real, damn real.

    Kevin Nash (c) vs. Abyss
The Legends Championship vs. $50,000 Bounty

Mick Foley is first out as he goes to the announce table with his barbed wire wrapped bat. Abyss is out second to a decent pop from the crowd, Tenay references Abyss wearing flannel to the ring. Kevin Nash is out last to the ring where he checks out the money in the duffel bag before handing over his title to the referee. Nash starts things off burying his knee in Abyss’ midsection and following up with a couple of elbows and forearms. Abyss ducks a lariat and fights back with a couple of strikes of his own, but he quickly falls victim to a big forearm that sends him to the mat. Nash pounds on Abyss in the corner and chokes him with his boot before continuing to bury his knee in Abyss’ midsection. Abyss is able to fight back with a big splash on Nash, but a second attempt doesn’t go as well and Abyss ends up being clotheslined out to the floor. On the floor, Nash slams Abyss’ head into the steel steps and goes for a chair. Nash swings the chair, but Abyss moves and Nash connects with the ring post. Abyss uses the distraction to his advantage sending Nash into the barricade and hitting a head butt. Abyss rolls Nash back into the ring, and Dr. Stevie makes his way out to the ramp and sets up a chair. Nash uses this distraction to hit a big boot to change the momentum.

Nash continues to work over Abyss with a couple of big back elbows in the corner. Nash tries to set up for a chokeslam but Abyss fights out and hits a flying forearm to knock Nash to the mat. Abyss hits a big splash in the corner and follows it up with a sideslam; he gains a near fall that brings Stevie to the ring. Daffney is in the ring with a tazer, but she’s caught with a black hole slam instead. Abyss grabs the tazer and teases tazing Daffney, but Stevie comes in and takes the tazer. Richards runs away and that allows Nash to whack Abyss in the back of the head with a chair, but when Nash goes for the pin Abyss kicks out. Nash tries for a jack knife powerbomb, but Abyss fights out and hits a chokeslam that’s only good for a two count. Abyss calls out to Foley to bring him the barbed wire bat and Foley tries to bring it to Abyss. While Abyss reaches for the bat, Nash tazes Abyss in the groin and Abyss falls to the mat. Nash covers Abyss and gets the three count. After the bell, Stevies grabs the cash out of Nash’s hands and Nash replies with a jack knife powerbomb. Nash walks out with the Legends Championship and the $50,000

Winner and STILL Legends Champion: Kevin Nash

JB is backstage with Scott Stiener and Booker T, he asks them about their relationship with the British Invasion. Stiener says that they don’t like any foreigners and that the BI better just stay out of their way. Booker says that they’re the best in the business and they want to lock them in a cage with weapons. Booker and Steiner both yell ‘Can you dig it’ in Borash’s face before they leave.

Beer Money, Inc. vs. Team 3D vs. Scott Steiner & Booker T vs. The British Invasion
    TNA Lethal Lockdown

Entrant Number One in the Match is Doug Williams who makes his way to the ring wearing the IWGP Championship around his neck. James Storm is the first participant for his team, and Williams makes his way to the ramp and the fight is on. Storm spits beer in Williams’ face and hip tosses him on the ramp before throwing him into the barricade and hitting his face on the steel stairs. On the way into the ring, Williams is able to watch Storm off guard with a knee to the sternum. Both men try to send each other into the cage, but neither is able to. Storm goes to the top turnbuckle and hits a modified DDT on Williams. Storm tries for a cover, but covers don’t count right now. Williams fights back against Storm hitting him with a European uppercut and choking Storm with his t-shirt. Storm fights back against Williams and catches him with a back body drop. Storm hits the eye of the Storm and grabs the t-shirt choking Williams. Williams fights out with a low blow and tries for a suplex, but Storm won’t budge and he hits a clothesline instead. Williams tries to send Storm into the cage but Storm blocks so he hits a European uppercut instead. Storm begins to fight back at the ten second mark and he sends Williams into the cage and chokes him with his boot.

The next participant is Brutus Magnus. Storm kicks the cage into Magnus’ face, but the BI counter. Williams whips Storm into the door and Magnus slams the door into his face. Williams and Magnus double team Storm, posing in the ring and catching big time heat from the crowd. BI send Storm into the cage and Storm is cut open. The next participant is Robert Roode.

Roode runs down to the ring and leans house on the British Invasion. Roode backdrops Williams and hits Magnus with a spinebuster to turn the tide of the match. BMI hit a double team catapault DDT. BMI double team Magnus and get their chance to pose in the middle of the ring. BMI go for a double suplex on Williams, but Magnus breaks things up. BMI change things up and hit an atomic drop back stabber combo. The next participant is Scott Steiner.

Steiner runs to the ring and the tide turns once again as he comes in and hits a big suplex on Storm. Steiner charges Roode into the corner where he gets caught with a boot. Roode goes to the top turnbuckle, but Steiner catches him with a Frakensteiner. Steiner and BI use Storm and Rood as battering rams sending them both face first into the cage walls. The next participant is Brother D-Von.

D-Von comes into the ring and it’s his turn to clean house. He takes down Steiner with a shoulder block and uses a modified Thesz press to take out Magnus. D-Von chokes Steiner with his boot and this match has just become a whole lot harder to cover. D-Von and BMI continue to dominate, as D-Von and Roode take out Steiner with a double clothesline. The next participant is Booker T.

Booker T is slow to make his way to the ring, instead he decides to pose at the top of the ring. Booker T makes his way into the ring and takes down Roode first, and D-Von second, since it’s his turn to change the momentum. Booker hits Storm with a big kick while Stiener squeezes Roodes head in the cage door. The last participant is Brother Ray.

Ray is attacked by Big Rob from the BI who knocks Bubba into the crowd and attacks him with a chair. Big Rob forces the technician to lower the top of the cage with the weapons and the BI and MEM continue to dominate D-Von and BMI. Brother Ray is still down on the floor and the heels go to the top of the cage to grab some weapons. Brother Ray finally makes his way back to his feet and hits Big Rob with a chair, Ray makes his way into the ring and takes out all of the heels with chair shots, since it’s his turn and all. Bubba hits the heels with another round of chair shots before putting a trash can in between Booker’s legs and slamming it with a crutch. Magnus climbs out to the top of the cage and Storm follows him out where they fight. Magnus sends Storm to the side of the cage and Storm is barely hanging on. Roode is on the top of the cage and he saves his partner by hitting Magnus with a crutch. BMI hit Magnus with a big double team suplex on top of the cage.

In the ring, Stiener falls victim to a 3D, but Booker hits Bubba with a trash can lid and follows it up with a Book end. Booker tries to hit Roode with a trash can, but he accidentally hits Williams. Storm sets Booker up for a blockbuster from Roode. BMI hit a DWI on Williams and Storm gets the pin, securing the win for his team.

Winners: Team 3D and Beer Money Inc.

Lauren is backstage with Rhino, she asks him if he has any comments about his match with Lashley tonight. Rhino says he doesn’t care about MMA because real men lace up wrestling boots. He says when you look out there you don’t see an octagon, you see a TNA wrestling ring. Rhino says Lashley is in his house and he won’t have gloves or kick pads. He says people call him the war machine because he’s an animal and he won’t quit; also because he doesn’t feel any pain and because tonight he’s going to rip Lashley in half with a gore.

    Bobby Lashley vs. Rhino
    Lashley’s PPV Debut

Rhino is out first and he runs to the ring where he poses and gets a fairly decent pop from the crowd. Lashley is out next to a pretty good pop (I was expecting a heck of a lot more). Rhino tries to get the jump on Lashley at the bell, but Lashley blocks and unleashes a flurry of strikes on Rhino. Lashley hits a big snap suplex and he tries for a splash in the corner but Rhino gets his elbow up. Lashley hits a shoulder block that sends Rhino to the floor. Lashley follows and he slams Rhino’s head on the ring apron. Rhino sends Lashley into the steel guard rail. Rhino sends Lashley back into the ring where Lashley starts to fight back, but he gets caught with a spinebuster. Rhino pounds on Lashley in the corner and he chokes Lashley to draw a bit of heat from the crowd. Rhino chokes Lashley with his boot and hits a knee drop. Rhino locks in a rear chin lock in the middle of the ring and the crowd tries to get behind Lashley. Lashley fights out of the submission, but he gets cut off by a clothesline from Rhino. Rhino goes back to the rear chin lock as he tries to wear Lashley down. Lashley fights out again and this time he catches Rhino with a back elbow and both men are down. Rhino tries to charge Lashley in the corner but Lashley moves and hits a hip toss. Lashley charges Rhino in the corner and buries his shoulder in Rhino’s midsection with some big shoulder blocks. Lashley picks Rhino up and takes him down with a modified gut buster and Rhino is busted open. Lashley goes for the gore but Rhino moves the ref in the way. Rhino hits the gore and another ref is in but Lashley kicks out. Rhino goes for another gore, but Lashley catches him with a knockout punch. Lashley pins Rhino and gets three count.

    Winner: Bobby Lashley

JB is backstage with AJ Styles and Sting. He asks Styles where his mind is at. AJ says he only has one thing on his mind, winning. AJ says Sting woke him up from the funk that he way in. AJ says he’s going to go out and prove that he’s the best in the world at what he does. Both he and Sting only have one goes, to walk out of the building TNA Champion. Sting says he hopes tonight will be, for one of them, the first day of the rest of their lives.

Kurt Angle (c) vs. Sting vs. AJ Styles vs. Matt Morgan
    TNA Championship Match

Knowing TNA, it’s going to be a good long while before this match starts, as they like to do long, long, excruciatingly long build ups to their title matches. AJ Styles is out to the ring first and he gets his own nice little video package, on top of the video package they already played about the four men in the title match. AJ comes out to the ring to a big pop from the crowd. Matt Morgan is out next, but not before his very own video package. Sting is out third to a very nice pop from the crowd, but can you guess what happens before he makes his way to the ring? That’s right! Video package! Last out to the ring is Kurt Angle, but obviously, it wouldn’t be fair if he didn’t get his own little video package for the night (I’m guessing the guy who puts these together for TNA gets paid by the hour). Also, because individual video packages, and a video package about the match and the four men involved, we also get nice, very professional ring introductions from Jeremy Borash, who is determined to make sure this match does not start before 10:30.

Before Borash announces Angle’s name, Hernandez’s music hits and he says he didn’t come all the way here to wrestle for five minutes, so he’s cashing in his Feast of Fired case. Hernandez is in this match! Angle slaps Hernandez in the face, so Big Mex responds by shoulder blocking Angle across the ring, and the just throwing him to the other side. Hernandez hits a big, big delayed suplex and everyone else just stands by watching. Hernandez hold Angle up for over 30 seconds before finally dropping him down. Hernandez sends Angle to the outside and follows and Sting and AJ team up on Morgan in the ring. Morgan fights back against Sting and AJ and TNA goes to their horrible split screen that makes things 20 times harder to cover. Hernandez and Angle fight out the the entrance ramp where Hernandez almost hits a border toss before Eric Young makes his way out, hits Hernandez with a pipe to the knee and follows it up with a piledriver on the ramp. Sting and Angle beat on Morgan in the ring and they hit a double suplex on Morgan. Sting and AJ square off in the ring while people check on Hernandez on the ramp. In the ring, AJ hits Sting with a beautiful dropkick. AJ jumps off the apron on top of Angle. Angle and Morgan decide to team up against Sting and AJ. Sting and Morgan fight on the outside while AJ and Angle fight in the ring. Angle goes for a piledriver but AJ counters, but Angle counters that with an ankle lock, but AJ is able to fight out and send Angle to the floor where he sends him to his back with a headscissors. Morgan and Sting make their way into the ring where Morgan knocks Sting around in the corner with some nasty elbows before just dropping Sting to the mat.

Angle and Morgan gang up on Sting, taking turns pounding on him. AJ tries to make his way back into the ring but he’s cut off by Angle. AJ makes his way back into the ring with a springboard clothesline to Angle and AJ starts to work over Morgan. Morgan catches AJ though and hits him with a big fall away slam. Morgan stands up just in time to catch a couple of kicks to the knee from Sting, who then sends Angle to the outside with a clothesline over the top rope. AJ starts to work over Morgan in the corner but he turns right around into a big suplex from Angle. Angle sends Sting to the outside and he and Morgan continue to double team AJ. Morgan and Angle take turns trying to top each other, seeing who can harm Styles more, but AJ is able to sidestep Angle, causing him to run shoulder first into the ring post, Morgan is left the last man standing in the ring though when he takes AJ down. Morgan gets a near fall on Styles, but Styles is able to connect on a Pele out of nowhere that sends Morgan to the floor. Styles gets caught by a German suplex from Angle, but Angle immediately gets caught by a missile dropkick from Sting. Sting fights off both Angle and Morgan, hitting both with body slams before hitting them with Stinger splashes in the corner.

Angle goes for the Angle slam, but Styles counters into the Styles clash. AJ goes for the pin, but Morgan is able to break it up before three. AJ and Morgan fight in the ring, AJ goes to the second rope and jumps off but Morgan catches him with a big boot. Morgan connects with the hellavator on AJ and goes for the pin but Sting breaks it up. Sting connects with a scorpion death drop on Morgan but when he goes for a pin it’s broken up by Angle. Sting goes for the scorpion death lock on Angle but Angle counters with the ankle lock. Morgan breaks up the submission with the carbon footprint to apron. Morgan charges Sting but Sting sends Morgan to the floor with a low bridge. Sting goes to the floor to go for Morgan, AJ hits a springboard 450 splash, pins Angle and gets the three count!

Winner and NEW TNA World Champion: AJ Styles

Daniels makes his way to the ring and a group of fans rush the ring. Everyone picks AJ up on their shoulders and confetti falls from the ceiling. Borash tries to get an interview with AJ, but technical difficulties prevent that from happening. The pay-per-view ends with AJ in the middle of the crowd of people, getting hugs from everyone.

  • JR Blog: Flair Wrestling Again, One More Match For Austin?

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. JR talks about what Steve Austin is upto these days, Ric Flair’s decision coming out of retirement and whether he would follow in the footsteps of Jesse Ventura, Jerry Lawler and Linda McMahon ever consider a career in politics. The highlights:

Steve Austin: “Steve Austin is on the cover of the current Muscle and Fitness Magazine. Great story on Steve in the prestigious publication about his new career in film. Steve is attacking his movie roles with the same intensity, preparation and attention to details as he did when he was wrestling. Steve is in awesome physical condition which always leads fans to speculate if he will come back for ‘one more match.’

“Officially, only Austin can definitively answer that question but I know him pretty well and I think he made his last foray in wrestling at WM25 with the possible exception of a guest shot, non wrestling, here and there but even that is my own personal speculation. Hopefully, fans of ‘Stone Cold’ will support Steve’s movie work as religiously as they did his hell raising inside the ring. We talk regularly this time of the year and 90 percent of our discussions concern college football of which we are both major fans.”

Ric Flair Coming Out of Retirement: “It looks like the ‘Naitch’ may be joining Hulk Hogan’s upcoming tour. What a reality show this tour would make if we never saw a single wrestling match. I’d watch it!”

Getting into Politics: “I got an email asking if I had any political aspirations such as The King, et al and I said not just no but HELL no. Being an elected official would cut into my BBQ and Football time not to mention my ‘day job’ of being Todd Grisham’s sidekick on Smackdown.”

  • JR Blog: Ted DiBiase’s Ear, SvR2010, WrestleMania in Miami

Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Some highlights:

Ted DiBiase’s Ear: “The ear controversy. What’s up with Ted DiBiase’s nasty looking ear? From what I was told the ear got infected for some unknown reason and when young Ted went to get it checked out the doctor discovered that DiBiase had tubes inserted in his ears as a child and they were never removed! However, if you are operating some of the dubious wrestling websites that exist in cyberspace feel free to make up what you choose regarding this matter much like you have about my professional future.”

SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 Roster: “If you are wondering why some WWE Superstars are on the Smackdown vs Raw 2010 video game and others aren’t it’s because this particular decision has to be made long in advance and several months ago the point of no return and going with what was there came and went. I had the same issues when I was the head of Talent Relations and made those decisions. One is damned if they do and damned if they don’t when one has to work with such long lead times. This matter will never be resolved in my view and there will always be some wrestlers who make the game that don’t deserve to and some that are left off that deserve to be included.”

WrestleMania in Miami?: “I read where Miami, Florida is interested in hosting Wrestlemania in 2011 or 2012. I assume many cities are in the bidding process as ‘Mania brings in big money to the host city. However, if the trend is to go into stadiums for Wrestlemania events, how does one address the issue of rain especially with South Florida’s lovely but rainy, at times, climate. No, I did not forget WM24 in Orlando but that was a hold one’s breath deal as it related to the weather and how to deal with rain not only for the talents but for the many  fans who traveled thousands of miles and paid healthy dollars to attend the show. Don’t get me wrong, I love visiting Miami (well, last January wasn’t so great when the Tim Tebow Gators trounced my Sooners) and have for years but it would seem to me, and no one has asked me to offer this opinion, that cities with domed stadiums would have the greatest chance of hosting the event.

  • Mike Adamle Talks About His Time In WWE & More

Monday Night Mayhem radio with Mike Adamle
Hosts: Big Mosh, Blade, Todd Vincent
    Available at MondayNightMayhem.com.

Blade started things off by asking one of the most-frequently asked questions from the members of The Mayhem Nation, which goes back to Mike’s first night with World Wrestling Entertainment, at The 2008 WWE Royal Rumble at Madison Square Garden. Just who is “Jeff Harvey?” Adamle wished to inform The Mayhem’s listening audience and wrestling fans across the globe the simple truth that he does indeed know that it is “Jeff Hardy” and not “Jeff Harvey.”

Mike was very candid about his debut with the company at “The World’s Most-Famous Arena,” and looks back on the night with as a learning experience. “You’re exactly right about that. I have no excuse except to say that was my first night I was on the air, and I have a good friend Mike Harvey, and I was talking to him prior to that…and thus, the maloprompt. But then there were a lot of maloprompts after that…

As many fans of the WWE product are already aware of, Adamle left World Wrestling Entertainment after just one year, one that unfortunately saw more disappointment than critical success. Many hardcore fans of professional wrestling and sports-entertainment did not take him seriously, and even some talent took him to task…sometimes on the air. Was Adamle’s departure mutual, or was it more one-sided, whether it be him or the WWE?

“I think it was a matter of them seeing my career as far as it could go with WWE. I wasn’t quite sure what they brought me in for. I know that JR (Jim Ross) was an icon for the WWE and an icon in broadcasting professional wrestling over the years, and I heard through the grapevine that he was getting older and they wanted a young guy, but I wasn’t quite sure that exactly was it. They then put on ECW. Covering play-by-play for professional wrestling is a completely different animal than getting ready for a college sports broadcast.

“I had asked them once they had decided that’s what they wanted me to do is for my sake send me down to Tampa (Florida Championship Wrestling), and let me call matches till I’m blue in the face, until it rolled off my tongue. It didn’t, and I suffered a little bit, I’ll be honest, on the air, and I got a lot of criticism from ECW fans, but you take it in stride. And eventually by just being man enough to get all the boos, they start liking you, and I think Vince (McMahon) took advantage of this guy who’s a ‘bumblehead’ so they made me the ‘bumblehead of ECW,’ and a guy who was prone to make mistakes, and I went along with the gag.”

“The Chairman Of The Board” Todd Vincent asked Mike if Vince McMahon or those in the back fed him wrong lines in his headset (as has been reported over the years with Taz and Mick Foley) to increase the “bumblehead character” that they portrayed as Adamle.

“They tried to feed you lines, and I kinda went along with it. I actually liked it (playing the lovable dunderhead) and I grew to enjoy the ECW people. A couple of times they had me walk off, which was not my idea. The first time I walked off, left Taz in a lurch, and the following week, I came out made an apology and said that I couldn’t stand off the heckling that was going on behind me. And I actually got accepted, the responses for me kinda changed, and I went from kinda a heel to a babyface announcer.

“Just the whole experience, I wish I had to do it again because now I know some things about how it all works and I’m not sure I’ll ever get another chance but I got nothing but great things and memories from the WWE.” The big question: Would he want another chance to go back? “I’d go in a heartbeat. If you’re any kind of athlete, you’ve been knocked down not once, not twice but hundreds of times and you get out of the game when you don’t want to get off the canvas anymore. So I got knocked down to the canvas a couple of times, but I wanna get up, and I’ll too throw a few punches again. My greatest regret is that I was never able to get in the ring. I wanted to be chokeslammed a couple of times.”

Adamle took over for the beloved Joey Styles on ECW, and he had mixed feelings about taking the role that first defined him in the WWE.

“One of the guys that befriended me right away was Joey Styles, and I knew who he was, and I knew he liked doing play-by-play. I don’t think he particularly cared to go into the dot.com business for WWE, but being the consummate professional did exactly that.”

Mike said he was fortunate enough to be placed in the roles that he was (from an announcing perspective) that he felt comfortable with and based on the relationships that he had formed with both JR and Joey.

The man behind the majority of ECW’s success, Paul Heyman, wrote an article last April about Adamle in The UK Sun, with Mike having the chance to read the finished product. In discussing the contents of the article, Mosh called the piece “interesting,” but Adamle had his own words.

“Interesting is not quite the word. Inflammatory was, it was a degradation kind of article. And he was right, he is entitled to his opinion. I always wanted to talk to him in person just to tell him a lot of the things that he said, are right on. So I have no problem with him…I have no problem with the criticism that I received. I think much of it was warranted. But what Paul had to say was right on. I know that he and Vince parted in a very acrimonious way. A lot of it was because he (Paul) was not in the mainstream anymore. But with that being said, I respect him greatly, and people are entitled to their opinions.”

Throughout the past several months, Monday Night Raw has been seeing much critical success from bringing aboard the idea and concept of a “Guest Hosts for their program on a weekly basis. Speculation was rampant leading into last Monday night’s Raw (at The Allstate Arena outside of Chicago) that Mike’s name was debated as a candidate for the spot, which ended up being given to the long-time host of “The Price Is Right,” Bob Barker. Adamle was asked about the rumors, if they were true, and if he has been approached to host a future edition of Raw.

“I’m always ready for anything that may happen. I wasn’t contacted for the last week’s show. Do I expect to contacted? I have no idea but if it happened, I would love it.”

Former WWE/ECW Superstar, Colin Delaney, called into The Mayhem Line to give his best wishes to Mike, in addition to giving his thoughts about Mike’s tenure in the WWE. “I always thought that Mike was thrown into an awkward position, and everyone just immediately, like in most things in wrestling, when you do well, they’re so-so to praise you but when you do wrong, they’re immediate to jump on you and jump down your throat. I always thought your announcing skills were top notch. Some of the information, whether they gave it to you or information you had, was a little off, but that’s things they could fix up. As an announcer, I thought you were great. You took a lot of unnecessary flack for a lot of things that might not have necessarily been your fault.”
So much more is contained in this near hour-long exclusive interview with Mike Adamle, including his uncensored comments on what he would do if given another opportunity with the WWE (and if that does not come to fruition, why he would consider being a part of TNA Wrestling), why his role as RAW General Manager did not last as long as he hoped (and what some of the potential ideas were for him in the final chapter of his WWE run), why his debut @ MSG was more intimidating than having to replace Joey Styles, why he wanted to take a page out of Jonathan Coachman’s book and actually get into the WWE squared circle, why he classifies wrestling fans as the most-knowledgeable of all fans out there, his takes on memories of watching professional wrestling live as a child in Cleveland, his thoughts on the opening weekend of the NFL’s 2009 season, as well an “American Gladiators” reunion live on The Mayhem airwaves, featuring Dan “Nitro” Clark and Raye “Zap” Hollitt. Remember Mayhem Nation, all-new “American Gladiators (The Original Series): The Battle Begins” DVD is now available! Log onto www.ShoutFactory.com for more information on this exciting DVD, including how you can purchase your very own copy and make it part of your DVD library!

Monday Night Mayhem returns live next Monday night, beginning @ 8PM ET/7PM CT, as WWE Hall Of Famer/former WWE Champion, Bret “Hitman” Hart will join the program to discuss his forthcoming appearances for Ring Of Honor next weekend (in Boston, MA and New York City), if he potentially sees himself taking over the role left behind by “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair in ROH, and his thoughts on the “screwjob” ending of the Breaking Point PPV in Montreal from last weekend. In addition, the current Ring Of Honor World Heavyweight Champion, Austin Aries, will step into The Mayhem’s squared circle to discuss his reign as ROH Champion, the remaining dates lined up in the company’s “Final Countdown ’09,” the departures of “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness (and their futures in the WWE), and so much more.

After some back and forth between the two legends, Hogan issued the challenge to Flair to end his retirement and face him on the tour. Hogan said, “You put your name on the dotted line and we’ll have the epic battle. Ric Flair, I’m throwing out the challenge to you, brother. Do you accept?” Without hesitation, the Nature Boy responded, “Ric Flair accepts on the grandest level of all. Australia in search of a real legend, Ric Flair is on his way!”

Hogan later joked with the hosts, “I’ll need your attorneys to put the deal together because I’m flat broke till I get the advance from the promoters!”

  • WWE’s “RAW” Trademark In Jeopardy?

The following press release was issued today:

Muscle Flex to Seek All Infringement Damages Against World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) After It Was Successful in Defending Its “In the Raw®” Trademark Against the WWE’s “Raw” Trademark

LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire – September 17, 2009) – Muscle Flex Inc. (PINKSHEETS: MFLI) (www.MuscleFlexInc.com) has announced to investors that it will be seeking all infringement damages against the World Wrestling Entertainment for its unauthorized use of “Raw” in Canada which it has used without permission for over 10 years. Muscle Flex has accumulated significant evidence which it believes proves undeniably that the WWE procured the sale and distribution of “Raw” labeled products that infringed on the “In the Raw®” wares and services over a period of many years and continue to this day. In 2002, a Cease and Desist order was issued but was ignored by the WWE as they continued to sell “Raw” branded merchandise in Canada knowing that ‘In the Raw’ was a registered trademark.

In a press release dated July 20, 2009, Muscle Flex Inc. disclosed that it was in possession of WWE “Raw” labeled items that it believes directly infringe on its ‘In the Raw’ trademark. Items include: various CDs, VHS tapes and a number of apparel items. According to the WWE’s most recent reported financial quarter, combined sales of WWE’s consumer products and digital media business segments produced $40 million in global revenues. In previous quarters, these numbers were even higher.

The multi-year dispute between Muscle Flex’s “In the Raw” and WWE’s “Raw” trademark concluded in April of this year when Muscle Flex successfully defended its “In the Raw®” trademark against WWE “Raw” trademark application 1,153,018 in a final Federal Court appeal by the WWE. Previously, on June 18, 2008, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) Opposition Board issued its final decision with respect to the WWE Canadian trademark application for “RAW.” The ruling confirmed that certain wares listed in the RAW trademark application 1,153,018 were confusingly similar and thus lacked distinctiveness from the “In the Raw®” registered trademark.

“If someone steals your car and decides to drive it for 15 years knowing it was yours, how would you react?” commented Danny Alex, CEO of Muscle Flex Inc. “Now that the appeal process has concluded, Muscle Flex has begun the process to fully monetize all elements of its ‘In the Raw’ trademark including all infringement and potential damages caused by the WWE in its unauthorized use of ‘Raw’ in Canada. This has been a very long process and I fully intend to bring full and complete restitution to Muscle Flex shareholders… full stop.”

Danny Alex continued, “We are measuring the specific potential damages the WWE has caused over the years and the dilution of our ‘In the Raw’ brand in Canada as a result of WWE’s infringement. In 2002, we issued a Cease and Desist order that was ignored by the WWE as they continued to sell ‘Raw’ branded merchandise, and continue to do so in Canada, knowing that ‘In the Raw’ was and is a registered trademark in Canada and has been for many years prior.”

Muscle Flex Inc. is in the process of developing its first generation of “In the Raw” logo designs that will appear on all branded merchandise. Details of the Muscle Flex ‘In the Raw’ brand are expected to be released shortly.

  • Jim Cornette Fired From TNA After Fight With Vince Russo

According to a report on The Sun website, Jim Cornette’s contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling was terminated after throwing one temper tantrum too many. Reportedly, he caused a major scene at the most recent Impact television taping during an argument with head writer Vince Russo.

Cornette directed his anger toward the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion during a production meeting calling for more focus on Eric Young on television.

“Everyone was in a production meeting with Russo running down the show, but Cornette went nuts screaming ‘why are we pushing Eric Young?’,” according to The Sun’s source. “Russo reacted calmly and said it wasn’t a big deal, but Cornette wouldn’t let it go and kept screaming about it, really causing a scene. He just wouldn’t stop. Even after the meeting broke, Cornette was walking around complaining to everyone who would listen.”

A few concerned co-workers went to management to voice their displeasure over their belief that Cornette had been acting unprofessionally. Apparently, this was “his latest refusal to be a pro,” so the organization decided to release him from his contract.

Similarly, Cornette was released by World Wrestling Entertainment in July 2005 after slapping current WWE star Santino Marella for breaking character and laughing at The Boogeyman during a live Ohio Valley Wrestling show.

“This wasn’t politics or anything to do with Jeff. It was purely a decision prompted by the same behaviour that got Jim fired in WWE,” the source said.

  • Jeff Hardy’s MySpace & Twitter Pages Taken Down

    — In the wake of Jeff Hardy’s 9/11 arrest for drug trafficking, the former WWE superstar’s MySpace and Twitter pages have been taken down.  Jeff posted a message on his Twitter the day of the arrest assuring fans that he would tell his side of the story and make a statement “later,” but now that his primary outlet for speaking to his fans is gone, we’ll see if that ever happens.

    — It’s also worth noting that the Twitter account of Beth Britt, Jeff Hardy’s fiance, is still active, all the content has been removed. It appears they have shut the accounts down due to the attention stemming from Hardy’s arrest.

    — There were rumors over the weekend that Matt Hardy had been sent home by WWE management. After speaking with a source within WWE, we can confirm those rumors are false. Matt was backstage at Tuesday’s SmackDown tapings from Hamnilton, Ontario but was not used on television.

  • WWE CEO Linda McMahon Steps Down To Run For U.S. Senate

WWE has announced Linda McMahon is leaving her post as Chief Executive Officer to begin her senate campaign:

WWE’s Linda McMahon Resigns to Run for U.S. Senate

World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. today announced that Linda McMahon has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer after announcing her candidacy for the United States Senate, representing the state of Connecticut. Vince McMahon assumes the duties of Chief Executive Officer in addition to his current position as WWE® Chairman. McMahon will be supported by the seasoned executive management team already in place and led by Chief Operating Officer and board member, Donna Goldsmith.

Linda McMahon has also launched her campaign website at Linda2010.com. Here’s her first campaign video:

Notice how Linda says, “I’ve been in business for over 30 years. I was the CEO of a publicly-traded company that has created over 500 jobs right here in Connecticut” yet does not mention WWE by name. Let the distancing game begin!

Several mainstream media outlets are covering the story of Linda McMahon running for the United States Senate:

Associated Press | New York Times | Wall Street Journal | The Greenwich Post

Most of them are pretty neutral in the coverage, Politico.com says Linda will have a hard time escaping WWE’s marketing of sex and violence. Politico also includes a link to a YouTube video of Linda getting tombstoned by Kane on Raw from several years back, which you can see here.  That footage should make for some nice anti-Linda campaign videos.

  • Several Charges Against Kurt Angle Dropped, Assault Charge Still Pending

TNA Champion Kurt Angle appeared in a Robinson Township, PA court on Tuesday morning and was found not guilty of harassing his ex-girlfriend, Trenesha Biggers (TNA Knockout Rhaka Khan). District Judge Carla Swearingen also dismissed charges of driving with a suspended license and posession of Human Growth Hormone (he had a valid prescription), which was inside his vehicle at the time of his arrest.

Biggers was present at the hearing but did not comment publicly afterward.

Angle still faces an assault charge against Biggers and will be back in court next month to defend himself. He maintains that he’s never physically harmed Biggers.

After leaving the courthouse, Angle spoke to the media and said, “I will continue to live my life by the law, as I always have.”  To watch video of Angle’s emotional comments to the media, visit <a href=”http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/video/20925703/index.html” target=new><b>ThePittsburghChannel.com</b></a>.
