“As of today August 1st I am no longer under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling and I will not be re-signing with the company at this time.“
Karl Fredericks announces NJPW departure
“Though there is disappointment in the ending of this chapter I am grateful for the last four years traveling the world and growing with my best friends. I want to say thank you to the company for the opportunities and especially thank you to Shibata-San for believing in me and bringing me along his journey with the LA Dojo.
“Last but not least thank you to my fans and thank you to the NJPW fans for Your support over these years. I hope you will continue to support me along my path wherever that may lead.”
Logan Paul has made some serious waves within WWE already.
Paul has had just two matches but it’s become quite clear that the social media star is a natural. In his first match at WrestleMania 38 back in April, he teamed with The Miz to take on Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
In that match, Paul was praised for his heel character work and his awareness, mocking Rey Mysterio with Eddie Guerrero’s Three Amigos and Frog Splash moves.
His second match was an even bigger challenge as he went one-on-one with The Miz. In the first singles match of his young pro wrestling career, Paul shined again.
Logan hit a moonsault from the ring apron to the floor, a Blockbuster, a springboard forearm, and more. Paul’s biggest spot was hitting a Frog Splash from the top turnbuckle onto the announce table.
Logan Paul is a babyface on the WWE roster but many feel he has been miscast since the WWE audience tends to dislike him. During an interview with DailyDDT, Paul said that he doesn’t care if he gets cheers or boos.
“I gotta do this sh*t, for real, for a very long time,” he said about how he can win over the audience. “I don’t think a win will change their mind on anything… The WWE fans are unpredictable. I get booed sometimes and I get cheered sometimes. I’ll be talking on the mic and I’ll hear someone hurl a derogatory insult at me. I make a joke and he laughs and says, ‘Ah, he is funny.’ So, I don’t know, but it’s like a tornado out there and I’m in the middle of it.
“I don’t care [about being booed or cheered.] I don’t care, man. I’ve been loved. I’ve been hated. I’m completely indifferent to both. As long as there is a reaction, and trust me, there will be a reaction, we’re good.”
Logan Paul on WWE fan reaction
“I’m unbothered,” he said about the reactions. “I don’t care. I’m here to prove myself right more than anyone telling me what I can and can’t do and I’ve done it time and time and time again. If you look at my track record, my whole life is a series of me doing stuff people telling me I can and can not do or will not do and this is just another one of those things. Like I said, just time in that ring.
“Months, years, decades. God willing, who knows what happens with this sport. That’s where the real respect is. There’s a reason why Roman Reigns, John Cena, Stone Cold and guys like that get the respect they get. It’s because they’ve dedicated their lives to a certain craft, and while I’m totally willing to do that, this is only match number two.
“I can’t focus on whether I’m loved or hated right now and focus on doing the best I absolutely can and putting on a killer performance.”
Undertaker was joined by his wife Michelle McCool and their child, Kaia Faith Calaway. Ric Flair’s Last Match event took place inside the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
In the main event, Ric Flair teamed with Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
The event was promoted by Starrcast under the Jim Crockett Promotions marketing.
Reports had surfaced this weekend revealing that The Undertaker was indeed in Nashville for WWE SummerSlam. He didn’t make an appearance on that show but his time in Nashville wasn’t done on Saturday.
Ric Flair’s Last Match event has been full of surprise appearances and you can add Jerry “The King” Lawler to the list.
The special event is taking place inside Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The undercard features a slew of matches featuring wrestlers from different renowned promotions all over the world.
In the main event, Ric Flair will have what is being billed as his final match. He will team with Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
During the event, an interview was conducted inside Jeff’s dressing room. Jeff was joined by his father Jerry Jarrett and none other than Jerry Lawler.
“The King” gave Jeff a pep talk, saying Flair stole his strut from Jackie Fargo. He said he wanted Jeff to do the Fargo strut over Flair’s unconscious body by the end of the night.
It’s been a busy weekend for both Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett. Lawler was featured on the Kickoff show for WWE SummerSlam, while Jarrett served as a special guest referee during that same event for the Undisputed Tag Team Title match.
WWE SummerSlam 2022 is in the books and this is what went down after the show went off the air.
This year’s SummerSlam event was held inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 30. The main event featured a memorable Last Man Standing match.
It was Roman Reigns putting his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship on the line against Brock Lesnar. At one point in the match, Lesnar lifted up the ring with a tractor.
Lesnar’s efforts ultimately weren’t enough as he had to fend off Reigns, The Usos, Paul Heyman, and Theory. It was too much for Brock, who couldn’t beat the ten-count.
What Happened After SummerSlam
After the Peacock broadcast went off the air, Brock Lesnar put on his cowboy hat and got back inside the elevated ring.
He posed for the fans to show that he was alright following the brutal title match with his rival.
Here are some clips from fans who were in attendance:
This was billed as the final encounter between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Whether or not WWE will stick to that claim remains to be seen.
The general consensus, however, is that Brock and Roman hit a home run with their latest match. Some are already calling it the best match between the two.
More SummerSlam Fallout
Here are some more news coming out of WWE SummerSlam:
WWE SummerSlam is tonight and the spoilers are pouring in.
The company’s hottest event of the summer goes down inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. There is a lot of buzz around the event and that has certainly been boosted by the fact that there is a new regime in WWE.
This will be the first SummerSlam event without Vince McMahon. Vince resigned from WWE amid an investigation. His daughter, Stephanie McMahon, is now the Chairwoman and co-CEO, a title she shares with Nick Khan.
WWE is known for having a few surprises for major events and tonight looks to be no exception.
Edge is in Nashville
(via WWE)
PWInsider is reporting that Edge is backstage for SummerSlam.
It had been previously reported by another outlet that Edge was set to return for the July 25 episode of Raw in Madison Square Garden in New York City. WWE ended up altering those travel plans.
It left many to wonder if Edge was being saved for SummerSlam. It looks like we now have our answer.
Edge has been out of action since he was kicked out of his own group, The Judgment Day. Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley ousted Edge in favor of Finn Balor.
Priest put Edge out of commission with a Conchairto.
Tonight, The Judgment Day will take on The Mysterios. This may be the perfect time for Edge to get some payback.
Keep it locked on the SEScoops homepage as we’ll be providing live coverage of WWE SummerSlam.

Seth Rollins was pulled from media obligations during WWE SummerSlam weekend.
Much has been made about the status of Seth Rollins going into the big July 30 premium live event. WWE’s biggest show of the summer will be held inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Rollins was expected to share the ring with Riddle. Instead, WWE ran an injury angle where Rollins stomped Riddle’s head onto steel steps. In storyline, the injury was bad enough to cancel the match.
The angle reportedly wasn’t done to hide a real injury, it was simply a creative change.
Seth Rollins Yanked From Media Obligations

Seth Rollins was expected to attend media day on the Friday before SummerSlam. While Seth was in the area and witnessed WWE tryouts, he ended up being pulled from his planned media interviews. Fightfulbrought word of the news.
At this time, it is unknown why Rollins was pulled from media obligations. There also hasn’t been an update on whether or not he will remain on the card.
Speculation has run rampant on who Rollins’ opponent will be if he still has a match for the show.
Names such as Dolph Ziggler and top free agent Johnny Gargano have been rumored. Nothing has been confirmed at this time.
Social media has been buzzing about WWE SummerSlam and one former superstar is rumored to be making his return.
While no one has reported that this individual will be returning to the company, some fans have speculated that with Triple H taking over the creative reins, the timing could be right.
At this moment, Seth Rollins doesn’t have an opponent for SummerSlam. WWE ran an injury angle with Riddle, which has led to his match with Seth being canceled.
Rumors have been running rampant on who could wind up sharing the ring with Seth Rollins inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 30.
One name mentioned has been Dolph Ziggler, the other is a doozy.
Johnny Gargano Speaks Out on Rumors
(via WWE)
Johnny Gargano is well aware of rumors on social media about a potential return to WWE. After all, Gargano is widely considered to be the hottest free agent in wrestling right now.
Gargano made it clear to those asking questions on his Twitch TV channel that they should probably refrain from asking him if he’ll appear at SummerSlam.
“So you guys hear any good rumors lately or what? The comments section is going to be a wild one tonight, I am sure of it.
“Yeah. Look, I know what to expect, the moderators I’m sure are going to be watching and deleting a lot of things, but I will obviously address the elephant in the room up front.
“You know the general rule on this channel, and how this thing goes, I talk very openly about professional wrestling, I talk very openly about a lot of things, but if you’re expecting to come here and me to flat out say that ‘I’m coming back here’ or ‘I’m coming back there’, ‘I’m doing this’ or ‘I’m doing that’, that’s not gonna happen. (Laughs)”
Johnny Gargano on rumors of SummerSlam appearance
“So, to save the moderators some time and effort here, if that is your question, I will answer a lot of questions, ask whatever you want, talk about wrestling, talk about all that good stuff, I have no rules as far as that goes, but if you’re going to ask me the questions that I’m definitely not gonna answer, just save yourself some time, ask me something better than that, and I will happily answer it.”
Gargano went on to say that while he isn’t in peak shape at the moment, he is physically fit to show up on TV at any moment.
“I will say, that I am about, I’m pretty much what I would like to call ‘TV lean’, I’m not ‘Takeover lean’ yet, but I am TV lean to where I could show up on television, at any point, and I could be in good shape. I know that’s gonna take a life of itself that I’m saying this, but I’m being honest with you guys. (Laughs) I’m not gonna say that I’m not.”
Johnny Gargano recently made a surprise appearance on IMPACT Wrestling. Fightful reported that the appearance was simply a favor for a friend and he is not in talks with IMPACT.
It was reported that a top free agent, who is a former WWE talent, would be more willing to return to the company now that Triple H is in charge of creative.
Whether or not the star in question is Gargano remains to be seen.
CM Punk thinks two AEW stars have a chance at persuading AJ Mendez to return to the ring.
AJ retired from in-ring competition back in 2015. She cited damage to her cervical spine as the reason for her retirement.
Fast forward to 2022 and AJ Mendez revealed in an interview with superfan Izzy for Women of Wrestling that she can technically still go in the ring. With that said, AJ made it clear that she wishes to support the new generation of female wrestlers instead.
Is there still room for a comeback?
Can Someone Convince AJ Mendez to Return?
(via WWE)
Skewed & Reviewed was able to interview CM Punk at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con Convention. During the interview, Punk named AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill and Britt Baker as two names who may be able to convince AJ Mendez to return.
“That’s a question you gotta ask her… I do have insight but it’s a delicate thing. I don’t push it on her. She watches the show… and she’ll be like, ‘tell me when the girls are on.’ She’s a big fan of Jade, I think women like Jade and Britt [Baker, D.M.D.] especially if she’s ever gonna want to wrestle again, they’re the ones that could draw her in, based on looks and ability and the work and that.”
CM Punk on AJ Mendez possibly wrestling again
There was a time when AJ was the top female star in WWE. She went by the name “AJ Lee.”
AJ was the longest reigning Divas Champion before that record was broken by Nikki Bella. The decision was made by WWE in an effort to attract more female viewers to its programming through Total Divas.
Now, AJ Mendez serves as an executive producer and color commentator for WOW.
Paul Heyman also addressed WWE fans before being interrupted by Brock Lesnar. Money in the Bank briefcase holder Theory tried to attack Lesnar from behind but he paid the price and was sent out of the ring.
Drew McIntyre then ran down the ramp to deliver a Claymore to Theory, which was payback for Theory attacking him earlier.
After The Show
When the FOX broadcast went off the air, fans inside the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA were treated to a dark match. It was Raw superstar AJ Styles taking on Happy Corbin.
Ultimately, AJ hit the Phenomenal Forearm for the three-count.
After the match, Styles celebrated inside the ring and took pictures with the fans. This is the final WWE match before SummerSlam.
Much has been made about Max Dupri’s status with Maximum Male Models. It was reported that Dupri was replaced by Maxxine Dupri as the mouthpiece of the faction.
Dupri reportedly rubbed some people the wrong way as he questioned the material of his scripts. The last word from Wrestling Observer is that Vince McMahon pulled him from the group as he wasn’t a fan of his delivery during promos.
Now that Vince is gone, Max Dupri isn’t going anywhere.
During the July 29 episode of WWE SmackDown, the Maximum Male Models unveiled the 2022 Beachwear Collection.
At the end of the segment, Max Dupri appeared to the surprise of fans inside the State Farm Arena and color commentator Pat McAfee.
"To titillate the juices of your guilty pleasures."
One superstar on the WWE SmackDown brand wasn’t able to make it to the show.
The go-home episode of SmackDown just one night before SummerSlam took place inside the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA. The show opened with a barn burner Donnybrook match between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
One match that was expected to take place was Lacey Evans vs. Aliyah. That didn’t end up happening.
Lacey Evans Misses SmackDown
(via WWE)
Aliyah made her way out for a match but it wasn’t against Lacey Evans.
SmackDown play-by-play commentator Michael Cole revealed that Evans wasn’t medically cleared to be in action. As a result, Shotzi replaced Lacey and actually picked up the win over Aliyah.
Evans recently turned heel on WWE TV. She hasn’t had a match since the Money in the Bank women’s ladder match on July 2.
Instead, Evans has been cutting heel promos and laid out Aliyah in two segments but never took any bumps.
We’ll keep you posted on what’s going on with Lacey Evans once more details become available.
Drew McIntyre has punched his ticket to Clash at the Castle.
McIntyre and Sheamus collided in the opening match of the July 29 episode of SmackDown. The two clashed in a good-old-fashioned Donnybrook match.
The winner would receive a shot at the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at Clash at the Castle on Sept. 3.
When the dust settled, it was McIntyre who emerged victorious. He will meet whoever holds the undisputed gold by the time WWE heads to Cardiff, Wales.
The current titleholder, Roman Reigns will put his gold on the line against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match. That championship match will serve as the main event of SummerSlam on July 30 inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
WWE has teased the possibility of Theory cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the show.
Plans for Drew McIntyre’s opponent at the big September premium live event have been reported. To save you from spoilers, we won’t post that info in this piece.
If you’d like to find out who Drew McIntyre will reportedly face for the WWE Undisputed Universal Title, click here.
One WWE superstar has made the trip to Nashville despite his match being canceled.
We are officially in the midst of SummerSlam weekend. WWE has opened up media availability and a lot of questions are being answered.
This will be the first major premium live event under the new regime in WWE. Stephanie McMahon is the new Chairwoman and co-CEO, sharing that title with Nick Khan.
Triple H is in charge of creative and he’s already made his presence felt when it comes to one big SummerSlam match that was originally planned.
Seth Rollins at SummerSlam Location
(via WWE)
The first major move Triple H made was putting the hammer down on an initially scheduled SummerSlam match between Seth Rollins and Riddle. An angle was done on the go-home episode of Raw where Rollins injured Riddle by giving him The Stomp on steel steps.
The injury is just for entertainment as Triple H reportedly has bigger plans for the match at Clash at the Castle on Sept. 3 in Cardiff, Wales.
The good news for Seth Rollins fans is that he has been spotted in Nashville for the WWE tryouts. Whether or not he’ll stay on the card remains to be seen.
Rumors have been swirling about a potential new opponent for Rollins on the show. Names such as top free agent Johnny Gargano and Dolph Ziggler have been rumored.
Nothing has been confirmed on that end at this time.
One current member of the WWE roster has been approached about a possible showdown with Mike Tyson.
Tyson may be 56 years old but he is more marketable than ever before. The former undisputed heavyweight champion of boxing has become a pop culture icon.
This of course has many promoters fawning to try to get him to fight again. Back in Nov. 2020, Tyson took on fellow boxing legend and Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout.
While a winner wasn’t determined, the general consensus is that Tyson got the better of Jones.
Could a WWE superstar be next for “Iron” Mike?
Mike Tyson vs. Bobby Lashley?
(via WWE)
Bobby Lashley is the current WWE United States Champion. While his MMA days have been behind him for a few years due to his WWE exclusivity, he hasn’t lost the itch to compete again.
Promoters are aware of this, which is why he was approached with an offer to fight Mike Tyson.
Fightful was told by Lashley that a rep from a bare-knuckle boxing company put out a feeler to see if such a bout would be possible.
Lashley said that the promotion in question had listed Madison Square Garden in New York City as a possible destination. Fightful wasn’t able to confirm which company approached Lashley.
Even though Lashley would be clearly outmatched by Tyson on the feet, “Iron” Mike isn’t a spring chicken these days. TMZ Sports recently recorded footage of Mike Tyson moving around NYC with a cane.
The outlet received word that Tyson is dealing with a sciatica flare-up. The source for TMZ claimed that this wasn’t due to a new injury, but rather wear and tear over the years.
A major possible spoiler for the WWE SummerSlam main event has surfaced.
This year’s big SummerSlam event will be taking place inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The show is going down on July 30.
In the main event, WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns will put his gold on the line against Brock Lesnar. For weeks, WWE has been teasing the idea of having Theory cash in his Money in the Bank contract to close out the show.
As it turns out, the main event may have been spoiled ahead of the big night.
Spoiler Alert
(via WWE)
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the plan as of now within WWE is for Roman Reigns to enter Clash at the Castle as the Undisputed Universal Champion going up against Drew McIntyre.
Of course, that would mean that Reigns would defeat Brock Lesnar in their Last Man Standing match and avoid a successful cash-in from Theory if the company plans to have the briefcase holder show up after his United States Title match against Bobby Lashley.
WWE has been building up Drew and keeping him away from The Bloodline for months in order to build towards the big Sept. 3 show in Cardiff, Wales.
This seems to be the perfect time for Reigns to drop the gold and give McIntyre that big feel-good moment that he was robbed of back in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Time will tell if WWE will actually go through with having Drew McIntyre dethrone Roman Reigns.
One WWE superstar doesn’t believe “go away heat” is an actual thing.
We’ve heard that term used throughout wrestling circles for many years. There was a time when fans referred to it as “X-Pac heat.”
The idea behind this term is that fans wouldn’t boo a heel for a job well done. Instead, “go away heat” means fans simply think the performer playing the heel isn’t very good at all and fans are booing to get rid of the wrestler.
For a current WWE superstar on the SmackDown roster, this term doesn’t truly exist.
Happy Corbin Slams “Go Away Heat”
(via WWE)
During an appearance on Bleav In Pro Wrestling, Happy Corbin expressed his belief that “go away heat” is a myth.
“That’s a make-believe term. Go-away heat would be silence cause they wouldn’t care; they don’t want to see you. But when my music hits, that’s the difference. People have to sometimes go out there and do something to get booed. The second my music hits, they are booing. That is when you have — that is when people don’t like you. It doesn’t take me punching John Cena in the face and going out and telling the crowd I’m better than John Cena to get booed.”
Happy Corbin on “go away heat”
Corbin went on to discuss the crowd reaction that Theory has been getting.
“It’s a rare trait for guys to go out there and truly want to be booed and hated because it’s 24/7 your life at that point — you are getting it on social media, you’re getting it in arenas, you’re getting it in public,” Corbin said. “Like, it is a lifestyle, and it is hard for a lot of people. For some reason, it doesn’t bother me and it doesn’t seem to bother [Theory].
“I think it’s hilarious that people hate him because the WWE Universe is always begging for new stars, new players, new talent, and this guy came in, and he’s getting a push and they’re like, ‘This — no! This isn’t what I want. I didn’t want this guy. He’s getting pushed too far’… They hate him because he’s exactly what they wanted. They wanted a fresh new star, and Austin Theory is a new star in WWE.”
It seems two AEW stars were none too pleased with a fan during a recent taping.
There have been plenty of incidents involving performers and fans in the wrestling industry for many years. Some fans have overstepped their boundaries and even attacked wrestlers.
It appears another ugly incident took place during the taping for Rampage but not much is known at this time.
Lee Moriarty & Stokely Hathaway Take Issue With Fan
(via AEW)
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio is reporting that there was some sort of altercation involving Lee Moriarty, Stokely Hathaway, and a fan. The report noted that this was more than simply two heels jousting with a member of the audience.
Details are scarce at this time but Meltzer doesn’t expect the incident to air when Rampage hits TNT this Friday night.
As of late, we’ve seen Moriarty turn to more underhanded tactics on AEW TV. He has aligned himself with Hathaway, who will serve as his manager.
Moriarty will take on Matt Sydal on this week’s edition of Rampage.
This week’s edition of Dynamite was held inside the DCU Center in Worchester, MA. The show featured an interim AEW World Championship match between Jon Moxley and RUSH.
Fans also witnessed two FTW Title matches with Danhausen failing to defeat Ricky Starks for the gold but HOOK succeeding.
Afterward, a massive babyface turn took place and it was caused by the break up of a tag team.
Post-Show
The main event of Dynamite featured the return of Bryan Danielson, who didn’t have a match since Anarchy in the Arena back in May due to injury.
Danielson shared the ring with Daniel Garcia and the match was very well received. It also had a shocking ending.
Jake Hager ended up holding Danielson’s leg, allowing Garcia to capitalize with a piledriver. He then locked in a Sharpshooter and Danielson passed out from the pain.
That’s right, Daniel Garcia defeated Bryan Danielson.
SEScoops correspondent Jaychele Nicole was in attendance and she captured footage of what transpired after the TBS broadcast went off the air.
As expected, AEW has introduced trios titles. The announcement was made during the July 27 edition of AEW Dynamite.
A tournament to crown the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions will begin soon. The finals will take place at the upcoming All Out pay-per-view from Chicago on September 4th.
AEW has no less than a dozen teams who could participate in a trios division. For a full list of all the trios teams in AEW, visit our AEW Roster page.

#AEW World Trios Championship Tournament is coming soon to AEW, the finals will be at #AEWAllOut Sunday, Sept. 4th LIVE on PPV! ? at https://t.co/UN1cNj1kQq
Here’s a closer look at the new belts, created by Ron Edwardsen of Red Leather:
AEW Trios Titles
AEW President Tony Khan told TSN back in May that the AEW World Trios Championship had been created a while back.
“I made them a long time ago, to be honest with you They’ve never been seen, and I did have them made. I do have more championship belts in my possession that have never been unveiled than anybody might suspect. The TBS Championship was in my office for months at the shows before anybody knew it was going to be unveiled, for example, recently.”
“The Ring of Honor purchase and now the great stable of champions[hips] and IP and, not only the legacy of past events, but the great slate of, I think, potential future events we can do with Ring of Honor and all that was kind of a surprise to everybody that we kept under wraps. That came together more quickly, whereas the trios championships are something I’ve thought about for a long time.
“But there are more championship belts than people might think that I’ve had up my sleeve and the trios championship are, arguably, the foremost.”
There’s a lot of speculation on who could be in contention. Fightful recently brought word that Kenny Omega will be making his return soon. It’s possible that he will align with The Young Bucks to go after the newly-announced gold. With that said, The Young Bucks have also been seemingly trying to get back in Hangman Page’s good graces.
Of course, the potential formations are simply speculation at this time.
An AEW star has turned face, while his former tag team partner caused their split.
The July 27 episode of Dynamite went down inside the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. On the show, Ricky Starks put the FTW Championship on the line against Danhausen.
Starks successfully retained the gold but he wasn’t done there. He demanded another title challenger on the spot.
HOOK answered the call.
It didn’t take long for HOOK to get the submission win to pick up the first championship of his pro wrestling career.
After the match, the two showed respect for one another.
Powerhouse Hobbs Turns on Ricky Starks
When the show returned from commercial break, Starks gave a passionate speech about making the FTW Championship relevant again.
He said he was tired of waiting around for a big opportunity. It seemed he was ready to reveal his intentions to go for an official AEW singles title.
Before he could finish his promo, Powerhouse Hobbs attacked him.
Hobbs left Starks laying in the center of the ring after landing a spinebuster.
The next title challenger for Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship has been revealed.
Moxley was in action to open the July 27 episode of Dynamite. He put the interim AEW World Championship on the line against RUSH. Despite interference from Andrade El Idolo, Moxley was able to score the win and retain his gold.
After the match, Moxley’s next title challenger made his entrance.
Jon Moxley vs. Chris Jericho
That title challenger turned out to be Chris Jericho. He made his way out with fellow Jericho Appreciation Society members.
Jericho laid down the challenge to Moxley for the Quake by the Lake episode of Dynamite on Aug. 10 in Minneapolis, MN.
Moxley accepted but on the condition that Jericho leaves his fellow JAS members behind and doesn’t show up as “The Wizard.”
Instead, Moxley wants to see the return of “The Lionheart.”
There is a lot of history between these two. Jericho was the inaugural AEW World Champion. Moxley would eventually end his reign.
The “Grandest Stage of Them All” is WWE’s biggest yearly event. This year’s WrestleMania two-night event took place inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas back in April.
The 2023 WrestleMania show will be held inside SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
But what about the 2024 location?
The City of Brotherly Love
(via Philadelphia Eagles)
WWE has announced that WrestleMania 40 is scheduled for Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 in 2024. Playing host to WWE’s biggest event will be Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.
In a press release, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney expressed his excitement:
“We are proud to welcome WWE fans from around the world to Philadelphia to be a part of the historic 40thWrestleMania in 2024,” said Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney. “The week-long series of events will help put a global spotlight on our great city while also generating a major impact for our local economy.”
Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau President & CEO Gregg Caren was also ecstatic over the news and he welcomes WWE fans to the “City of Brotherly Love.”
“Philadelphia is excited to host WrestleMania for the first time in 25 years,” said Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau President & CEO Gregg Caren. “The combination of Philadelphia’s passionate fans joining forces with WWE’s worldwide fan base will create an incredible electricity throughout the city for the events at Lincoln Financial Field, Wells Fargo Center and the Pennsylvania Convention Center.”
Now, Stephanie McMahon is the Chairwoman and co-CEO, a title she shares with Nick Khan. Triple H is the Head of Creative. When it comes to Triple H’s role, fans have already noticed subtle changes that bring hope for the future.
It may be enough to sway one top free agent.
Top Free Agent Signing With WWE?
(via SIPA USA/AP)
Fightful reports that there is a top free agent who is now seriously considering putting pen to paper with WWE now that Triple H is at the helm of creative.
The report didn’t mention who the free agent in question is but speculation has already run wild.
Also noted in the report is that this individual has plenty of options on the table.
In a previous report, Fightful spoke with a slew of former WWE performers who had been with the company dating back to 2016. The overall feeling from those talents is that had Triple H been in charge sooner, they’d still be with the promotion today.
SEScoops will keep you posted as this story develops.
