What Happened With Tony Khan After Blood & Guts Episode of AEW Dynamite Went Off The Air

The special Blood & Guts edition of AEW Dynamite has reached its conclusion.

In the main event, the Jericho Appreciation Society took on Blackpool Combat Club in the Blood & Guts match. The action was held inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI.

Unfortunately, there was an injury during the main event. Santana appears to have hurt his leg after landing on it awkwardly while delivering a Uranage on Daniel Garcia. He was eventually helped up the ramp.

The show got started with a singles match between Orange Cassidy and Ethan Page. TBS Champion Jade Cargill also put her gold on the line.

We also got a shocking turn of events as Luchasaurus has turned heel and aligned with Christian Cage.

    After The Show

When Dynamite went off the air, AEW President Tony Khan made his way out to greet fans in attendance. He then explained the rules of the Royal Rampage match, which is set to air this Friday (July 1) on AEW Rampage.

The match will determine the number one contender for Jon Moxley’s interim AEW World Championship.

Here is Khan breaking it all down:

Of course, the AEW ring crew was moving quickly during Khan’s speech to get ready for the Rampage taping. There was a lot of work to do as the Blood & Guts match had its share of in-ring destruction.

AEW Star Injured During Blood & Guts Match on Dynamite

The injuries continue to mount in AEW.

The company held its special Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI. The match featured the Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Blackpool Combat Club, Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz.

BCC, Kingston, Santana & Ortiz won the match but at least one man did not walk away unscathed.

    Santana Hurt

When it was time for Santana to enter the match, he brought in a table and a bat wrapped in barbed wire. He didn’t get much offense in, however, as he quickly suffered an injury.

It appeared to have occurred when he awkwardly landed on his leg while giving Daniel Garcia a Uranage.

Santana tried to make it back to his feet and was able to land one last strike but he simply couldn’t put weight on the injured leg.

Eventually, he was helped to the back and did not appear during the post-match celebration.

We’ll keep you posted with updates on Santana’s injury when they become available.

  • Valerie Loureda Touts Historic WWE Signing

Valerie Loureda Touts Historic WWE Signing

Valerie Loureda is transitioning from MMA to the world of sports entertainment.

Loureda had been a female prospect under the Bellator banner but a big opportunity came in the form of WWE. It was reported by Fightful back in early June that Loureda had been expected to sign a deal with the company and it has now been made official.

This is a historic signing, as Loureda has become the first Cuban American female to sign with WWE.

    Valerie Loureda’s Goals

With her decision to sign with WWE, Loureda is officially done with mixed martial arts competition. During an interview with NY Post, she explained what she hopes to accomplish in WWE.

“Headlining WrestleMania is a dream and I’m gonna conquer that one day, but really my goal in WWE is I’m becoming the first Cuban-American woman, and I want to be a role model and an inspiration to young Latinas who can now see someone from their culture in WWE.

“I want to represent where I came from, my roots, and really bring a new edge into this company that’s never been seen before. This is a big win for Latinas all over the world. I was born and raised in Miami. I come from a family of immigrants. I just want to show young kids who are first-generation Americans that you can do anything as long as you apply yourself, and work very hard, and your dreams can come true — like me.”

Loureda will be featured on the NXT brand once she has her footing in the WWE Performance Center. She has a ton of support from one very important name in the company, Triple H.

“An incredibly driven young woman working hard in sport and business to make a name for herself and her family.”

    Triple H on Valerie Loureda

Loureda walks away from the sport of MMA with a pro record of 4-1. Her last bout took place back in Nov. 2021. She defeated Taylor Turner via split decision.

Loureda is only 23 years so time is definitely on her side. If she can develop at a solid pace, WWE may have a star on its hands.

  • Title Match Added to Tonight’s ‘Blood & Guts’ AEW Dynamite

Title Match Added to Tonight’s ‘Blood & Guts’ AEW Dynamite

An AEW championship match has been added to tonight’s (June 29) Dynamite card.

Dynamite will emanate from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The main attraction of this show will be the big Blood & Guts match involving members of the Blackpool Combat Club and the Jericho Appreciation society.

Eddie Kingston and Santana & Ortiz will also be involved in the match.

That isn’t all for tonight’s episode, however. We’ve also got a title match to look forward to.

    TBS Championship at Stake

TBS Champion Jade Cargill demanded an open challenge for her gold and that’s exactly what she will get. Leila Grey has stepped up to the plate to challenge Cargill.

Going into this title match, Jade has an unbeaten record in AEW of 33-0.

Also featured on the show will be a one-on-one match between Orange Cassidy and Ethan Page of Men of the Year. OC is fresh off a thrilling match with Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door and even though he lost, Cassidy is riding a wave of momentum following his efforts.

We will also hear from Christian Cage just one week after cutting a promo where he mentioned the death of Jungle Boy’s father and seemingly manipulated Luchasaurus.

  • Former AEW Champion Thinks TNT Title Has Gone to “Sh*ts”

Former AEW Champion Thinks TNT Title Has Gone to “Sh*ts”

One AEW star is not impressed by the TNT Championship reigns these days.

The current titleholder is Scorpio Sky. Sky defeated Sammy Guevara to capture the gold but he’s dealing with a knee injury that he hopes isn’t too serious.

Many have criticized AEW’s booking of the TNT Championship ever since Miro’s reign ended. While Miro seemingly helped elevate the title, the championship really hasn’t been treated with prestige since.

Miro Goes Off on TNT Title

During an interview with WhatCulture, Miro slammed the direction the TNT Title has gone in since he lost it last year.

“When I hang onto something, it’s mine and unfortunately, the Sammy Guevara thing came in, he landed on my balls, let’s not forget about that. The finish [of our TNT Title match], he did the four-70,000-do-whatever-the-thing is. I was preparing to protect myself, he landed right on my balls and you can’t kick out of that, nobody can.

“So I don’t even take fault of that but I take fault — I take a fault of maybe being too good of a champion because ever since I lost that title, that title has gone to s**ts and that’s nothing but to blame Sammy Guevara for that, so he’s got to bear the cross for that.”

The former TNT Champion recently competed in a four-way match for the All-Atlantic Championship at Forbidden Door. PAC ended up winning that match to become the inaugural titleholder.

What’s next for Miro remains to be seen but it’s possible he could have a bone to pick with Malakai Black. Miro had PAC in the Game Over submission at Forbidden Door before Malakai entered the ring and sprayed him with mist.

  • AEW Star’s Contract Has Expired

    AEW Star’s Contract Has Expired

One AEW star has seen his contract expire.

Several AEW deals are set to expire this year and it’s been company policy to let the contracts of underutilized performers run out (instead of releasing people mid-contract).

In the case of Alan Angels, he might not be gone from AEW entirely.

Alan Angels’ AEW Contract is Up

Wrestling fans were quick to notice that Dark Order’s Alan “5” Angels scrubbed all mention of AEW from his Twitter bio.

He also sent out a following tweet letting people know he’s looking forward to the next chapter of his career.

    “Excited for what’s next.”

    Alan Angels on his future

Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline confirms that Alan Angels’ AEW contract has expired. With that said, the belief is that Angels might continue working on a per-appearance deal.

    Dark Order is Fine

Alan Angels’ contract expiring is another blow to the Dark Order faction.

The group lost Stu Grayson earlier this year after he couldn’t come to terms on a new deal with AEW.

Evil Uno took to social media and reassured Dark Order fans about the group’s future.

    Another WWE Talent Suffers Injury

With all the injuries piling up, one would imagine the wrestling Gods are not pleased.

It seems promotions just can’t shake the injury bug. The among of injuries, and key ones at that, are seemingly at an all-time high.

AEW has been harder than anyone during this stretch but WWE has also had to deal with some brutal timing when it comes to injuries. Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are out of commission for months due to injury.

One NXT superstar who has quickly been on the rise is now dealing with his own bump in the road.

    Nathan Frazer Injured

Nathan Frazer has been on a roll on NXT. Many have been impressed by the Seth Rollins-trained standout on WWE’s developmental brand.

Unfortunately, he has suffered an injury and has been off the show as a result.

The good news is Frazer doesn’t expect to be out of action for long.

“Dealing with a little injury right now, I’ll be back before you know it.”

    Nathan Frazer on injury

Frazer had been making a splash on the NXT UK brand before making the move over to NXT 2.0.

He challenged Carmelo Hayes for the NXT North American Championship at a live event on June 10, which may have been where he suffered the injury.

  • WWE Title Match Added to Upcoming Event

WWE Title Match Added to Upcoming Event

A WWE championship match has been added to a card set for early July.

The wrestling industry is no stranger to big title matches. WWE has plenty of gold, which means title matches are easy to come by.

There are also three brands under the WWE banner, all of which are on TV networks so there are championships galore.

This latest title match announcement is for NXT.

NXT Women’s Tag Titles On The Line

During the June 28 episode of NXT 2.0, new NXT Women’s Tag Team Title contenders were determined. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter to earn a title opportunity.

They will meet the current title holders, Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) at NXT Great American Bash on July 5.

Dolin and Jayne are in their second run as the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. They’ve held the gold since April.

NXT Great American Bash will be held inside the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Check back on the SEScoops homepage for coverage of the event.

  • Don’t Ask Wardlow Where MJF Is

Don’t Ask Wardlow Where MJF Is

Wardlow has no interest in discussing MJF.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman was the talk of the wrestling world when he no-showed a meet and greet just one day before the Double or Nothing PPV. Conflicting reports later surfaced regarding a flight out of Las Vegas before the show.

Ultimately, MJF showed up at the PPV event and did the job for Wardlow.

Just days later on AEW Dynamite, MJF cut a shoot-style promo where he called AEW President Tony Khan a “f*cking mark.” AEW is running with the storyline but many are wondering where it will go as MJF hasn’t been seen on TV since cutting that promo.

Wardlow Doesn’t Care About MJF Situation

During a K&S WrestleFest signing, Wardlow answered fan questions and naturally, the topic of MJF was brought up.

“Next question,” Wardlow replied when first asked about MJF.

He then said he has no clue about what’s going on with the MJF angle and he isn’t concerned about it.

“I know nothing about nothing. Nobody knows. I don’t care. I personally don’t care. Nobody knows.”

    Wardlow on MJF situation

Finally, Wardlow said that pretty much all AEW stars cut promos to their liking as long as the end goal is met.

“For the most part, we write our own (material). They just hand us microphones and we go out there and say what we want. There’s really no monitoring what we say when we go out there,” he said.

Wardlow had served as MJF’s bodyguard on AEW TV. After being mistreated for months, Wardlow finally had enough and turned on Maxwell.

Despite the turn, he couldn’t get his hands on MJF until Double or Nothing where he decimated him with a series of Powerbombs before scoring the pinfall.

  • WWE RAW Superstar Involved in Bad Car Accident

WWE RAW Superstar Involved in Bad Car Accident

A WWE superstar on the Raw brand was involved in a car accident but fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

WWE often presents its talent as being larger than life. Sometimes, fans forget that behind the characters who come across as superheroes and villains are real people who aren’t immune to some scary situations in real life.

That’s what has happened in the case of one current Raw star and thankfully, she is okay.

    Dana Brooke’s Car Accident

Dana Brooke, the current WWE 24/7 Champion, took to social media to reveal that she was involved in a “bad car accident.”

The reason why I was not on RAW last night was bc I got into a bad car accident the past week.”

    – Dana Brooke

The good news is she says she’s doing well and expects to be back in the ring soon.

Dana Brooke has become a regular on WWE TV with her 24/7 segments. She along with Akira Tozawa, Reggie, R-Truth, and Tamina have essentially taken over the WWE 24/7 Title picture.

As mentioned in her Twitter post, the car accident is to blame for Dana missing the June 27 episode of Monday Night Raw in Laredo, Texas. This edition of Raw celebrated the 20th anniversary of John Cena.

We’ll keep you posted on this situation when more details become available.

Jon Moxley Health Update Following Forbidden Door

There’s an update on Jon Moxley’s status following Forbidden Door.

Moxley went one-on-one with NJPW’s “Ace” Hiroshi Tanahashi on June 26. The match was contested for the interim AEW World Championship. In the end, it was Moxley who scored the win to capture the interim gold.

When the PPV went off the air, Moxley told fans inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois that he may have had a concussion.

This left many fans concerned as Adam Cole suffered a legit concussion earlier in the show and AEW has been hit hard with injuries.

    Jon Moxley is Fine

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer is reporting that Jon Moxley does not have a concussion.

The report notes that Moxley saying he has a concussion was becoming a bit of a shtick with him after a bloody match but he’s likely going to stop doing it so people don’t get worried.

Injuries have derailed a ton of plans for AEW, so this latest bit of news surely comes as a sigh of relief to fans and those within the company.

Moxley is scheduled to compete at Blood & Guts on the June 29 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Watch What Happened With Becky Lynch After WWE Raw Went Off The Air

This week’s episode of WWE Raw is history but did anything go down after the show?

The June 27 edition of Monday Night Raw was a special one. John Cena made his return to a WWE ring in Laredo, Texas. He was in several segments backstage and cut one heck of a promo when he addressed the WWE Universe.

Fans also got to witness two qualifying matches for Money in the Bank. Riddle has been added to the men’s MITB, while Becky Lynch earned her spot in the women’s ladder match.

    Following The Broadcast

There was no post-event dark match. After the show, Becky Lynch addressed the WWE Universe, posed, and was taking selfies with some fans in the crowd.

WWE Raw Talk was also in full swing. The show featured an interview with Riddle following his big qualifying win.

Wrestling legend Jerry Lawler was also featured on the show and he talked about the key factors going into Money in the Bank set for July 2.

On top of that, there was a WWE digital exclusive with Bobby Lashley, who will be challenging Theory for the United States Championship at MITB.

New Member of The Judgment Day Teased on WWE Raw

Could a new member be making his way to The Judgment Day?

Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley made waves when they turned on Edge in order to align themselves with Finn Balor. All three of them kicked Edge out of the group he created.

Ever since Priest laid out Edge with a Conchairto, the “Rated-R Superstar” hasn’t been seen on WWE TV.

While Balor, Priest, and Rhea appear to be formidable on their own, they may be adding a new member.

Dominik Mysterio Joining The Judgment Day?

During the June 27 episode of WWE Raw, Finn Balor and Damian Priest ran into Rey and Dominik Mysterio. Balor and Priest suggested that Dominik has been held back by his father.

This angered Rey, who issued a challenge to The Judgment Day members. It looks like next week it’ll be The Judgment Day vs. The Mysterios.

It has long been rumored that eventually Dominik will turn on Rey but it has yet to happen. Perhaps now is the perfect time to pull it off.

  • Forbidden Door Early PPV Estimate Revealed

Forbidden Door Early PPV Estimate Revealed

An early estimate for the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door buyrate has been revealed.

Forbidden Door went down inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois this past Sunday night (June 26). The event featured top AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling talent.

Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to become the interim AEW World Champion. Jay White successfully retained the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Kazuchika Okada, Hangman Page, and Adam Cole.

The show was heavily praised for the quality of the matches but how about the PPV buys?

    Forbidden Door Exceeds Expectations

AEW President Tony Khan spoke to media members during the Forbidden Door post-event scrum. He revealed that early numbers indicate that the PPV garnered over 100,000 buys.

“The show was a big success. We had ticket sales of over $1.1 million. I think it will be within literally thousands, just behind Double or Nothing, but right there, both over $1.1 million live ticket sales. The pay-per-view, I said if we hit 100,000 worldwide buys, I would feel it’s a big success and I feel very comfortable now, based on the early digital numbers, saying we did 100,000 buys and more. I feel great about that,” Khan said.

It’s quite the victory for AEW and NJPW if the final PPV numbers are indeed over 100,000. There were some on social media skeptical about the success of the PPV going in but early signs indicate the event did quite well.

Khan has said he hopes there are more Forbidden Door shows in the future. Given the success this event had, it’s hard to imagine AEW and NJPW passing up on another opportunity.

Cena is scheduled to make his return on the June 27 episode of Monday Night Raw. The show will take place inside the Sames Auto Arena in Laredo, TX. Cena’s appearance will celebrate his 20th anniversary.

Cena is a megastar and whenever he makes time for WWE, it always feels like a big deal. This time is no exception.

    Excitement Over John Cena’s Return

WrestleVotes is reporting that while WWE higher-ups are obviously pleased with John Cena returning for a boost in business, it goes beyond that.

The report notes that the WWE locker room is also excited about John’s appearance because of his upbeat personality and leadership.

Cena isn’t around much on WWE TV these days. His calling is in Hollywood now and he is never short on filming opportunities. Much like The Rock, Cena was able to break through in the mainstream media beyond wrestling.

Also like The Rock, however, Cena remains passionate about the business and is loyal to WWE.

It’s been reported that WWE is planning on booking Cena vs. current United States Champion Theory at SummerSlam in July.

  • Backstage Update on Ronda Rousey Angle

Backstage Update on Ronda Rousey Angle

Fans may be pleasantly surprised by a backstage update on a recent segment involving Ronda Rousey.

It’s been well known that WWE runs a tight ship. The company often controls everything about the presentation of its shows.

This goes for promos all the way to facial expressions. If Vince McMahon wants it, he’ll get it on his shows.

In some cases, however, there can be a little bit of leeway. Usually, this is reserved for big stars and Ronda Rousey certainly fits that bill.

    Ronda Rousey’s Idea

During the June 24 episode of WWE SmackDown, Natalya walked out dressed as Ronda Rousey. She also had a baby stroller to mock Rousey as she became a mother last year.

Rousey ended up interrupting Natalya and said the closest she’ll ever come to being a main eventer is by dressing like her. The segment ended with Natalya using the stroller as a shield to get away from Ronda.

Dave Meltzer took to Wrestling Observer Radio to report that the segment was actually Rousey’s idea. Meltzer noted that Ronda wanted to do something outside the box and she was given the green light to do so.

The angle garnered praise for making the feud more personal. Both Ronda and Natalya have traded harsh digs on social media to promote their SmackDown Women’s Title match at Money in the Bank on July 2.

  • Rumor Killer on WWE SmackDown Superstar

Rumor Killer on WWE SmackDown Superstar

One rumor surrounding a WWE SmackDown superstar has been squashed.

The rumor mill spreads across many industries and the wrestling business is no exception. This has been heightened even further by social media.

Some have even gone as far as to blatantly lie about a credible source issuing a report.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case here but rest assured it is bogus.

    Aliyah Rumor Killer

Aliyah was scheduled to compete in a Money in the Bank qualifying match on the June 24 episode of WWE SmackDown against Shotzi. She ended up being replaced by Tamina and on the WWE broadcast, it was revealed that Aliyah suffered an injury.

Rumors started spreading that a credible wrestling journalist reported that Aliyah was pulled from the match after being sent down to the WWE Performance Center due to a poor showing in a rehearsal for the match with Shotzi.

That rumor is simply not true as the journalist never reported it.

The real story is Aliyah is in fact dealing with an injury. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed that WWE’s reasoning for pulling her from the match isn’t a storyline.

Details on the injury are scarce at this time.

  • Cody Rhodes Remains in AEW Video Game

Cody Rhodes Remains in AEW Video Game

Cody Rhodes has not been removed from the upcoming AEW video game.

Rhodes sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling industry when he made his return to WWE earlier this year. He appeared at WrestleMania 38 to serve as Seth Rollins’ mystery opponent.

Cody ended up winning the match, making his promotional return a triumphant one.

At the time, many were surprised that Cody, the man who helped build AEW, felt it was time to come back to WWE. While he’s no longer with AEW, there is no bad blood and that is quite evident with this latest bit of news.

Cody Rhodes Staying in AEW Video Game

Kenny Omega has had a big hand in helping with the upcoming AEW video game. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, he revealed that despite leaving the company, Cody Rhodes will still be in the game.

“This may come as a surprise to people, but Cody is still in the game. I was very passionate about making sure his legacy and position within the company were preserved.”

    – Kenny Omega

Omega continued, “We’ve built this game from the ground up, starting everything from scratch. That’s why I thought this game could coincide with the birth of this company. You get to experience AEW from the beginning, from day one. The game is going to reflect a lot of that, even though our locker room is ever-changing.”

The AEW video game doesn’t have a solid release date. It was reported that the company was shooting for a September release but many agree that is a big ask.

Kenny told SI that he’s trying his best to get the game out before the end of 2022.

AEW Star Set For A Major Change

Change is coming for one AEW star.

In the wrestling business, characters often switch things up. Whether it’s a babyface or heel turn, or an entirely new gimmick, change happens all the time in this industry.

AEW has certainly made some adjustments to its performers but Tony Khan’s favorite change seems to be licensed music. That is apparent with this latest transition set for an AEW star.

Orange Cassidy Getting New Theme Song

Fightful is reporting that AEW has secured the rights to use “Jane,” which is a 1979 track by Jefferson Starship. OC used this song while he was on the indies and he will be using it once again.

Orange Cassidy teased “something new” in a Tweet just before the June 26 Forbidden Door event.

“This is tomorrow. Will said he has a special costume. I guess I’ll get something new too. Oh, and the IWGP US Championship.”

Cassidy will be challenging Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door. There will be no physical title, however, as in storyline Juice Robinson hasn’t let go of the championship despite being stripped of it officially.

  • WWE SmackDown Superstars Turn Heel

    WWE SmackDown Superstars Turn Heel

Two WWE superstars on the SmackDown brand have turned to the dark side.

Face and heel turns happen all the time in the wrestling business. Very few stay on one side of the fence for a long period of time. There are exceptions such as John Cena but even he was a heel at one point in his WWE career.

For one WWE tag team, the time spent as babyfaces has come to an end.

    The Viking Raiders Turn Heel

WWE had been advertising the return of former WWE Raw Tag Team Champions, The Viking Raiders. The way the company was promoting the team’s return was sort of like a re-debut.

The Viking Raiders ended up appearing on the June 24 episode of SmackDown with a new attitude.

Erik & Ivar attacked Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Shanky from behind. After the vicious beatdown, The Viking Raiders explained their new no-nonsense approach.

The team said they were tired of being sidelined and claimed that now nobody is safe from their wrath of destruction.

It appears now, The Viking Raiders have gotten into a feud with The New Day.

  • Another Day, Another AEW Star Suffers Injury

Another Day, Another AEW Star Suffers Injury

AEW just can’t catch a break.

The company has been pelted with talent injuries left and right. The promotion’s current world champion, CM Punk, has been sidelined after undergoing surgery.

Bryan Danielson was expected to compete at Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts but that’s now off the table due to an undisclosed injury.

Kenny Omega has been out for months due to multiple injuries. There are plenty of other AEW stars out of commission to the point where a mega list has been created.

You can add another one to the already brutal list.

    Jungle Boy Injured

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reports that Jungle Boy has now sustained an injury. Details are scarce at the moment.

Jungle Boy is in the midst of a personal feud with Christian Cage. Cage had served as a mentor to the Jurassic Express member before turning heel. Christian hit Jungle Boy with the Killswitch after a tag team title loss and then nailed him with the Conchairto.

Jungle Boy is considered to be a top star of the future for AEW. Depending on the length of his injury, it could be yet another devastating blow to the company. If he’s out for a long period of time, it would force AEW to once again change plans.

We’ll keep you updated on the status of Jungle Boy once more details surface.
