Dasha Gonzalez & Rachel Ellering To Compete In AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup

AEW broadcaster Dasha Gonzalez, formerly known as Dasha Fuentes in WWE, will be wrestling as part of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup. Dasha was on-hand for the latest drawing of partners for the tournament when it was revealed that she will be in the tournament herself.

The 32-year-old was originally signed to NXT as a wrestler in 2014 but transitioned to broadcasting following a knee injury.

Dasha was introducing the latest drawing for the tournament when Madusa came out to inform her she will be in the tournament. Her teammate will be Rachael Ellering, who will also be making her AEW debut in the tournament. They will face the team of Ivelisse and Diamante tonight on the show.

Footage of Dasha finding out she’ll be wrestling in the tournament is below:

AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup: The Deadly Draw

The second episode in the tournament takes place tonight on YouTube. Last week, Allie and Brandi Rhodes defeated Penelope Ford and Mel. Anna Jay and Taynara Conti also defeated Nyla Rose and Ariane Andrew.

Veda Scott made her AEW debut on commentary during last week’s episode as well. Additionally, Shaul Gerrero made her first AEW appearance on the card as a ring announcer.

Jim Ross Comments On WWE’s Interest In Eric Angle

Jim Ross recently addressed WWE’s interest in Kurt Angle’s older brother Eric Angle in the early 2000s. Eric Angle was signed to a developmental deal with the company before being released in 2003.

“Kurt was certainly for his brother getting work,” JR said on the show.

Eric Angle made his WWE debut at the Survivor Series 2000, helping his brother retain the WWE Championship against the Undertaker.

“He just didn’t have Kurt’s charisma or his athleticism,” JR continued. “I’ll give you an example, the Funk brothers, Dory and Terry. One, Dory was a much better fundamentalist, traditionalist. Terry was much better at the extraneous, brawling, you know, the sizzle.”

“To be an Angle, you can’t be ordinary, you can’t be average. We knew Kurt was going to be a Hall of Fame guy, if he could stay healthy.”

Eric Angle did have some matches on WWE live events in 2002 but never returned to WWE TV following the Survivor Series 2000 PPV.

“It wasn’t going to work out. Was Eric a good athlete? Yeah, but as we know he’s had some issues and those are troublesome.”

Eric Angle was arrested in September of 2019 for distribution of anabolic steroids.

“I think as time has moved on those thoughts have been proven out.”

Matt Jackson Reveals Reason The Young Bucks Left Twitter

Many wrestlers have been leaving Twitter as of late. Some have said this is due to the frequent toxic messages they have received on the app. Matt Jackson recently posted to his Instagram stories a message of support for anyone who chooses to leave Twitter. He also noted the reason why he and his brother chose to do so.

“I applaud anyone who decides to take a break from social media. Especially the toxic world of Twitter specifically,” Matt Jackson wrote. “We logged off when threatening messages were sent to us regularly & finally the last straw came when google map images of our homes were being tweeted to us. It’s been a nice break for our mental health. If someone decides to sign off, good for them!”

Screen Shot 2020 08 10 at 9.01.54 AM

Jackson’s comments may be in regard to Brandi Rhodes recently having deactivated her Twitter account. He also wrote a note on Instagram about this subject back in December when he and his brother left Twitter.

“My brother & I decided to leave Twitter permanently a few days ago. We realized it took precious time away from our families who’ve already sacrificed enough time as it is. Also, we’ve noticed how it seems to stifle our creativity. Lastly, after taking numerous breaks this past year from Twitter, we found it to be healing to our mental health, so getting off completely was the next step.”

Chris Jericho Responds To Criticism Of Fozzy Playing Sturgis Rally

Chris Jericho has performed at the Sturgis motorcycle rally a few times in his wrestling career and this weekend his band Fozzy did the same. The rally has come under criticism for an apparent lack of social distancing. There are those currently criticizing Jericho for taking part in the show considering he will be part of upcoming AEW tapings in Jacksonville as well.

Jericho responded to this criticism on a YouTube stream over the weekend.

“It’s been so great to be back on stage again after 7 months,” Jericho said. “The last gig we played was on the Jericho cruise, which is so hard to believe. It was like on a different planet, back in the days before the ‘Rona’ changed everything.”

Jericho also said that indoor venues at the rally were kept at half-capacity. He also noted that temperature checks were taken and masks were handed out.

“The venues are either outside or they are half-capacity,” Jericho said on his live-stream.

“We hand out masks at the door, do temperature checks, all that sort of stuff. We basically just stay on the bus all day and everyone in the Fozzy camp, crew, and band has been tested.”

People have been Tweeting about Jericho attending the Sturgis rally:

Brandi Rhodes Comments On First AEW Heels Event

The first event for the Brandi Rhodes led all-female fan club initiative, AEW Heels, took place on Friday night. The event featured a Q&A session with Aubrey Edwards and a Respect, Inclusion, and Empowerment in the workplace session with Keisha-Ann Gray.

Brandi took to Instagram to declare the first event in the initiative a success.

“AEW Heels was a massive success last night. We exceeded the number of membership sign ups necessary to continue to move the fan club onward and upward,” Brandi wrote.

“The biggest takeaway is that people were happy. Countless posts have been created letting the world know they felt they got more than their money’s worth. That is the whole point. Heels promised a positive space to be yourself, share more, make connections, enjoy exclusive offerings, partake in exclusive events and connect with AEW women from the roster to the executive team…and it delivered.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDoxPm7pkCD/

In an interview with SI.com, Brandi explained why she created the AEW Heels Fan Club:

“The idea came from me watching people interact on social media,” said Brandi. “I saw women getting bashed for having an opinion just because they were a woman having an opinion. That inspired me to create a place where female fans can voice their opinions.”

“Don’t let someone take your opinion away from you. Don’t let that ever shut you down, talk about what you love. This platform is a place where women can be themselves as wrestling fans, create friendships, and learn. We can create a movement,” she continued.

Big E Responds To Booker T’s Comments About Changing His Character

Booker T recently offered his opinion that Big E might be well-advised to change up some of the comedic elements of his character to be taken more seriously as top-tier Superstar. Big E recently spoke to the Bleacher Report about Booker’s comments.

“This is not a shot at Booker at all. I am so thoroughly entertained by his career, but this man had a world title around his waist as King Booker doing a faux English accent. You know I mean? Let’s put things in perspective here,” Big E said.

Recently on Smackdown, Kofi Kingston encouraged Big E to go on a singles run. This came after it was revealed Kofi would be out of action for 6 weeks. Big E defeated Miz in singles action the following week.

“I know Booker is a supporter, so this is not supposed to be a shot at him,” Big E continued. “We’ve had conversations too where he’s said some really nice things to me to my face, so I’m not here to take shots at him. I learned a lot from watching him, he’s a guy I loved watching as a kid. He meant so much to so many of us as someone who was a great talent and a great entertainer, but for me, it’s going to be about telling a story that makes sense. It doesn’t make sense to me to suddenly be serious.”

Booker T’s Comments About Big E

“Big E still trying to be the New Day is not going to work for him as far as him working at the top of the card. I’m talking about being the main attraction. I’m talking about being the guy that the company has put in position to be the guy,” Booker says in the below video.

AEW Adds Stipulation To Chris Jericho vs Orange Cassidy

All Elite Wrestling has announced a stipulation to the Chris Jericho vs Orange Cassidy match on the upcoming Dynamite. Previously, it had already been announced that if Jericho wins, Orange will have to pay $7,000 for damaging Jericho’s jacket. AEW has now added the stipulation that The Best Friends and the Inner Circle will be banned from ringside.

AEW posted out news of the added stipulation recently:

Chris Jericho vs Orange Cassidy II

Jericho defeated Orange Cassidy at Fyter Fest. It was the 3rd singles match Orange Cassidy has dropped in AEW. His singles record in the promotion is 5-3. Orange has defeated Jimmy Havoc, Jason Cade, Peter Avalon, Will Hobbs, and Serpentico. His 3 losses were to PAC, Fenix, and Chris Jericho.

Jericho is 8-1-1 in AEW singles matches. His victories have come over Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, Darby Allin, Cody, Scorpio Sky, Pineapple Pete, Colt Cabana, and Orange Cassidy. His loss came to Jon Moxley and he also went to a time-limit draw with Jungle Boy.

Bianca Belair Attacks Zelina Vega During Twitch Stream

Zelina Vega was streaming on Twitch recently when she was attacked by Bianca Belair. During the stream, Zelina can be heard asking her cousin to get the door. She then can be heard saying “what the hell are you doing in my house?”

At this point, Bianca Belair attacked her and the two tumbled off screen. Belair can be heard yelling “You know what you did!”

Belair’s husband Montez Ford recently collapsed on RAW. It was later revealed that he had been poisoned. With the Street Profits scheduled to face Andrade & Angel Garza at SummerSlam, one might assume Zelina had something to do with the poisoning.

Footage of Belair attacking Zelina during the Twitch stream can be viewed in the Tweet below:

Bianca Belair On The Main Roster

Bianca Belair is 10-0 on the main roster so far. She’s 7-0 on Main Event, and 3-0 on RAW.

She made her RAW debut on the April 6th, 2020 episode, teaming with the Street Profits to beat Angel Garza, Austin Theory, and Zelina Vega. She also defeated Santana Garrett on RAW in singles action on April 20th. On July 3rd, she teamed with Ruby Riott and defeated the Iiconics.

On Main Event, she’s defeated Catalina, Ruby Riott (3x), Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Jessi Kamea.

Pat McAfee Comments On Upcoming Match At TakeOver XXX

Pat McAfee recently appeared on ESPN’s Get Up and spoke about his upcoming match at TakeOver XXX against Adam Cole.

“2 weeks away, SummerSlam weekend, NXT TakeOver XXX Saturday night,” McAfee said. “I got 2 weeks to prepare for this guy who has been wrestling for 12 years.”

McAfee punted Adam Cole in the head on last week’s NXT. The former NXT Champion appeared to have been knocked out by the blow.

“Getting to do this is going to be awesome,” he continued. “It’s going to be a dream come true.”

McAfee then continued to talk about having had some wrestling training. He has a wrestling ring up at his house and has trained with Rip Rogers.

“One night when I was a little bit intoxicated I bought a wrestling ring, a full-sized wrestling ring and I put it in my barn. It showed up at my house a couple of months later, I’d forgot that I bought it. I sent that thing up and I’ve ran the ropes a couple of times, I’ve taken a couple of bumps. I’ve trained with a guy named Rip Rogers.”

“I have to not look like an idiot like the Saturday Night Live guys that have gotten in there before.”

McAfee’s comments can be heard in the player below:

Big E Talks What Xavier Woods Means To New Day

Big E is about to go on a singles run on Smackdown that has many fans excited. He recently spoke to SI.com about New Day, the group possibly breaking up, and just want Xavier Woods has meant to the act.

“There’s no New Day without him. If Woods doesn’t come up to me in 2014 and say, ‘Hey, I have an idea for a group. You want to join me?’ If that doesn’t happen, who knows where my career is right now, who knows if I’m even still employed here. He changed our lives. And the fact that he got the trombone over in wrestling? That’s incredible,” Big E said about Woods.

“I think it’s cool that our story is about men that care about each other,” Big E continued. “That’s different. We’re each unique, but we make sense together. And there is so much to be excited about in our future.”

Big E also spoke about how him going on a singles run doesn’t mean the group will break up. He also said he doesn’t plan on changing who he is for a potential run at a world title.

“I’m not going to let down the people that support me,” Big E said. “This run is about being authentic to myself and who I am. I still want to make people laugh and entertain them, and there is also this underlying determination. I’m excited to make the most of it.”

MVP Signs New Multi-Year Deal With WWE

46-year-old WWE Superstar Hassan Hamin Assad, better known to wrestling fans as MVP, has signed a new deal with the company. He announced on social media recently that he has signed a new multi-year agreement with WWE.

“Tonight, I’m drinking “the good stuff”. Yamazaki 18 from @suntorywhisky is the spirit of choice. I have come to terms with @wwe on a multi year deal. MVP is in #thehurtbusiness for the foreseeable future! Kampai!” he wrote on Instagram.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDnC7BkjDss/?igshid=2ik9pgb9glmy

MVP was a surprise entrant in this year’s Royal Rumble. He then lost a match to Rey Mysterio on RAW the next night. He would send a thank you message to fans that night on social media in a post that seemed to imply he was retiring. MVP kept hanging around, however, and now his Hurt Business stable has become one of the featured acts on WWE RAW.

Most recently on RAW, MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin appeared to take over RAW Underground. Fans will likely find out more about the stable’s relationship with the new RAW segment next week.

MVP is a 2x United States champion. He ranks 5th all-time in terms of days spent with the title (419) and most among active competitors. MVP and Matt Hardy are also former tag champions.

Brandi Rhodes Deactivates Her Twitter Account

AEW’s Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes has deactivated her Twitter account. Comments on her Instagram account have also been limited. While Brandi has not made any statement as to why she has left Twitter and limited comments on Instagram, many are speculating it has to do with the reaction to her AEW Heels fan club initiative.

Some fans were upset with the $50 price tag attached to the club. Many of these fans voiced their negative opinion on Twitter.

Screen Shot 2020 08 07 at 11.19.42 AM

Brandi’s initiative was motivated by her desire to create a safe space online for female wrestling fans. The negative reaction she received for this may have resulted in her leaving social media, at least temporarily. She spoke to SI.com about what led her to want to create a fan club for women.

Brandi joins the Young Bucks and several other wrestlers to abandon the app in recent months. Mauro Ranallo also left Twitter following criticism lobbied against him by Corey Graves.

Vickie Guerrero Officially Signs With AEW

Vickie Guerrero is officially a member of the AEW roster. She was recently announced as the new manager for former AEW Women’s Champion, Nyla Rose. Guerrero spoke to Fansided on her deal with the company.

“I retired from WWE in 2014. My focus was not to return to them. We just had a lot of just difference of opinions and things going on. If it wasn’t going to be for AEW, I don’t think I would be anywhere else, but when AEW presented that there was some opportunity, I gave 100%, just my whole being. I said, ‘I’m here for you and I can’t wait to be a team player with the company.’”

She would continue to say that she has a lot of friends in AEW and that is what kick-started negotiations between the two sides.

“I have a lot of great friends that I’ve known from past years, Cody Rhodes, and Dean Malenko, gosh, just me collaborating and being at different appearances. There’s been conversation back and forth.”

Guerrero accompanied Nyla Rose to the ring recently on the debut episode of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup on YouTube. Her daughter, Shaul Guerrero also made her AEW debut as a ring announcer on the show. Longtime independent wrestler Veda Scott also made her AEW debut on the show in the commentary booth with Tony Schiavone.

Update On Impact Wrestling’s TV Ratings

Impact Wrestling on AXS TV’s audience is skewing older than the audiences of other wrestling companies at the moment. Average monthly ratings for the promotion were recently published in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Impact Wrestling Average Monthly Viewership:

* Key demo is people aged 18-49

  • January 2020: Averaged 169,000 viewers per show (0.04 in the key demo)
  • February 2020: Averaged 181,000 viewers per show (0.04 in the key demo)
  • March 2020: Averaged 161,000 viewers per show (0.03 in key demo)
  • April 2020: Averaged 144,000 viewers per show (0.02 in key demo)

  • July 2020: Averaged 153,000 viewers per show (0.03 in key demo)

What is notable is that the percentage of Impact’s fans that fall into the key demo is lower than for AEW or WWE shows. Impact’s key demo was just 28.8% of its audience for July. In comparison, 38.2% of RAW’s audience is from the key demo, 32.7% for NXT, and 34% for Smackdown. More than half of AEW’s audience is in the key demo at 51%.

Impact is also reportedly the most-watched show on AXS TV. Anthem Sports and Entertainment purchased the station last September.

Brian Pillman Jr. Seeking His Release From MLW

Brian Pillman Jr. is hoping to be released from his MLW contract. The 26-year-old holds no ill-will to the promotion but as MLW isn’t holding any shows right now, Pillman is hoping they can reach a deal for his release. Pillman spoke to the WINCLY podcast regarding the situation.

“I’ve been actively trying to request my release and free myself of the obligations of MLW,” he said. “Again, no hard feelings but they have obligations towards me too. They have to have so many shows take place in order for my end of the contract to be valid too. So, I think that would also free them up of some responsibility. I think it would be a win-win situation if they released me.”

Pillman’s contract with MLW only restricts him from working shows for WWE or NXT. He was adamant during the interview that he loves MLW but the situation is what it is.

“As far as I’m concerned, there’s not any guarantee on any shows happening. I understand it’s a pandemic and it’s just business. There’s no hard feelings and I absolutely love that company and wrestling has been nothing but good to me for my whole career.”

MLW has not run any shows since March. Court Bauer has stated that they will not until they are certain it is safe to do so.

Pillman has recently been performing on episodes of AEW Dark. This week on the show, he teamed with Griff Garrison in a match against FTR. He’s also wrestled Shawn Spears and Brian Cage in AEW. Additionally, Pillman has been wrestling for Al Snow’s OVW promotion. Earlier this week he participated in TV tapings from Jefferson, Indiana for the company.

Pillman’s comments can be heard in the podcast player below:

Update On Rey Mysterio’s Future, Including Strong Offer from AEW

Rey Mysterio Jr. has been negotiating with WWE and AEW in recent weeks, with both organizations making strong offers to retain his servies.

The 45-year-old free agent recently “lost an eye” at WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view. The angle gave WWE a chance to write Mysterio out of storylines if he did not re-sign with the company. As it turns out, Mysterio is expected to remain in WWE.

Mysterio has yet to put pen to paper, but him remaining with the company is said to be a done deal.

“It’s as close to official without confirmation of it being official, and obviously Dominik is a big part of that deal,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“AEW made an offer that equaled the WWE’s per-match offer, but the WWE offer was higher because it was for more dates.”

There are no firm details available regarding the length of deal Mysterio is looking at signing. It is expected to be more than 18 months but less than 5 years, however.

Mysterio’s son Dominik is scheduled to face Seth Rollins at SummerSlam this month. It will be his first professional match.

Rey Mysterio Expected To Stay In WWE

Wrestlers from both AEW and WWE have commented on Mysterio during his free agency period.

“The one thing Chris Jericho and I can agree on is that there is nobody greater than Rey Mysterio,” AEW’s Cody Rhodes said to Si.com.

“I just watch him, the kind of person he is, and I learn because that’s the kind of legacy I want to leave behind in wrestling,” Kevin Owens said to ESPN about Mysterio. “His son is now getting involved and it’s been great to see his son around. He’s everything a wrestling veteran should be.”

Update On Excalibur’s Status With AEW

AEW announcer Excalibur has been absent from the last two broadcasts of Dynamite. The reason for his absence has been speculated as stemming from a controversial wrestling angle from over 15 years ago. Excalibur used racially insensitive language in a promo for the angle. Footage of Excalibur using such language recently surfaced. Others involved in the angle say Excalibur was pressured into making the comments he did, however.

According to a recent update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Excalibur is expected to rejoin the AEW broadcast team for next week’s episode of Dynamite.

“Regarding Excalibur, he will be back. Nobody has officially said anything but we were told he was flying to Jacksonville for next week’s television and unless things change would be back on the first show taped that airs on 8/12,” wrote Dave Meltzer.

It had previously been reported that both Excalibur and Kevin Steen were pressured into giving racially charged promos.

“In that angle, Human Tornado, who was kind of being pushed as a top babyface,” wrote Dave Meltzer previously. “He would often ask for guys to do heavily-racial promos on him and he asked them to use the word.”

Human Tornado sent the following Tweet out in support of Excalibur and Kevin Steen:

The Rock Responds to Daniel Bryan’s Challenge: “Let’s Do It”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson provides the voice for the character of Maui in Disney’s Moana. In the film, he sings a song titled “You’re Welcome.” Daniel Bryan’s child’s fondness for the song has led to the Smackdown star stating he would like to wrestle the Rock.

“I would love to do a match with @TheRock based solely on how many times my daughter has made me listen to “You’re Welcome.” And then of course it’s stuck in my head and I sing it all day,” Bryan Tweeted.

The Rock then responded to Bryan:

“I can see the writing on this wall from miles away – I’ll be jobbing again in the spirit of being a girl dad. Let’s do it. And congrats brother on the new arrival. We’re thrilled for you, Mama B and the fam,” Rock responded.

The Rock has previously revealed that Maui’s appearance in the film was inspired by his grandfather, “High Chief” Peter Maivia. He posted the following about the character in 2017:

Marty Jannetty Provides Further Details On Bizarre Killing Confession

A Facebook post by Marty Jannetty yesterday made the claim that he made someone disappear in 1973 when he was 13. TMZ reached out to the local police department in Georgia who said they would be looking into the claim.

Jannetty has since appeared on Boston Wrestling MWF and provided further details on the claim he made in the post.

Marty claims the man tried to molest him so he beat him with a brick.

“I can’t say he deserved to die, but he deserved to get his ass beat,” Jannetty said. “And, when I was beating him in the head with a brick, I was only trying to beat his ass, I wasn’t trying to kill him.”

“Can you imagine dragging a guy — he’s just tried to f*** you in the ass — can you imagine dragging him to the river and throwing him in? And, then finding out on the news the dude’s missing. You know the dude. And, you know more than that. That affected me bad, bro.” Transcriptions via TMZ.

Jannetty’s comments can be heard in the player below:

Chris Jericho’s New Metal Supergroup Covers Iron Maiden’s “Aces High” (Video)

Chris Jericho has formed a new rock band comprised of some of the most talented musicians around, The Wheelblocks.

The Inner Circle leader is the lead vocalist. Other members include Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss, former Machine Head guitarist Phil Demme, Avenged Sevenfold’s Johnny Christ, and drummer Josh Villalta.

The bands first single will is a cover of Iron Maiden’s classic Aces High. You can listen to it below:

The Wheelblocks

Jericho dropped a few hints about the project recently during an interview with Rock 95. He hinted that Nita Strauss or someone from Alice Cooper’s band would be involved.

“It’s kind of still under wraps,” Jericho said about The Wheelblocks. “But it’s another supergroup. If [Jericho’s other side project] KUARANTINE is the worst supergroup ever, I’d have to say THE WHEELBLOCKS is a lot more star power in that one. And Alice Cooper is not involved, but a prominent member of his band is involved. It’s probably the second most recognizable person from that band, if you’ve seen Alice Cooper live over the last three or four years.”

Of course, Jericho is also the lead singer of Fozzy.

Triple H Challenges Pat McAfee To Wrestle Adam Cole At TakeOver XXX

Last night on NXT, Pat McAfee punted Adam Cole in the head, seemingly knocking the former NXT Champion out cold. Today, Triple H appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” and challenged the former NFL kicker to face Cole at TakeOver XXX on August 22nd.

Tensions between McAfee and Cole date back to an NXT live event in 2018. Cole then appeared on the Pat McAfee Show 2 weeks ago and things got heated between the two.

Cole and McAfee appeared to have patched things up before last night’s edition of NXT. McAfee was then on commentary during the Imperium vs Fish & O’Reilly match and made several disparaging remarks that Cole heard from ringside. Cole then confronted McAfee during the match and a melee ensued. During the chaos, McAfee found an opportunity to kick Cole in the head.

“Adam Cole and Pat McAfee have had a history here,” Triple H said on the show.

“Pat, now is your opportunity, you want to be famous? Just so happens, coincidentally as things happen in WWE and NXT, we have a big TakeOver PPV in a few weeks. August 22nd, NXT TakeOver XXX. My call out to Pat McAfee is put your money where your mouth is, let’s see how bad you are. Pat McAfee vs Adam Cole, on that stage, massive match.”

Adam Cole also commented on why it was Triple H challenging McAfee on the show and not him.

So far, the only matches scheduled for TakeOver XXX is Io Shirai vs Dakota Kai for the women’s title and the ladder match for the North American title.

Lance Storm Says Inter-Gender Matches Should Stop

Lance Storm has been on Twitter today talking about inter-gender wrestling. Storm says that he has heard from many women who are uncomfortable taking part in such matches. He continued to say that these women often go along with the bookings as inter-gender matches have become the norm.

“I see some discussion on intergender wrestling matches again. In light of #SpeakingOut I think these matches have to stop. I’ve heard from so many women who were uncomfortable doing these but felt obligated to get booked because these matches were accepted ‘norms,'” Storm Tweeted.

“I sat with countless female students/wrestlers and had long conversations with them about their struggles on the Indy scene and being pressured into these matches came up a lot. Claiming I dont pay attention is such an ignorant statement,” Storm said in another Tweet.

Lance Storm Tweets On Inter-Gender Wrestling

Storm has been responding to people critical of his opinion online.

https://twitter.com/LanceStorm/status/1291375398299684865

Storm has had a hand in training some of the top female athletes in wrestling today. With that being said, his comments do run counter to what has been said by others regarding inter-gender wrestling. Storm says this is because those who are opposed to inter-gender wrestling or uncomfortable taking part in the matches are afraid to speak up about it.

https://twitter.com/LanceStorm/status/1291376135687692294

Storm also responded to a fan who said that it should be up to the women to decide. He responded that the pressure would still be there for the women to perform in such matches even if it was presented to them as optional.

“The pressure is there to force those who don’t want to do it. Especially when the women are green and are terrified to say no to what is asked of them by the Booker/promoter,” Storm Tweeted.

Storm also responded to someone who noted Lita, Chyna, and others taking part in inter-gender matches in WWE.

Jon Moxley On Match Against Darby Allin, MJF’s Interference

Following the conclusion of last night’s AEW Dynamite, the cameras kept rolling as the AEW World Champion was still in the ring. Moxley picked up a microphone and spoke about his opponent Darby Allin and the interference by Maxwell Jacob Friedman in the match.

“Not for nothing, Darby Allin, you are a persistent little bastard aren’t you?” Moxley said. “You are relentless. Dude, one day, mark my words, I know what I’m talking about, one day Darby you are going to be a world champion. You will win many championships. But it ain’t going to be on my watch, this is my time.”

“One of these days you’re going to take me out and I know that but today ain’t that day. There’s a lot of fake, disingenuous, just any insult you can think of, there’s a lot of crappy people in wrestling. There’s a lot of bad dudes in this company who does bad things. You are a loner like me. You can ride with me anytime you want.”

Moxley then addressed MJF’s interference in the match last night.

“It’s a little scrambled in my brain right now, I’m not sure exactly what happened but I got a pretty good idea. There’s a kid out there with no heart and even if he did, it stops beating real soon. He’s a dead man.”

MJF responded to an AEW tweet about the promo as well:

Marty Jannetty Being Investigated By Police After Murder Claim

A bizarre post on Facebook by Marty Jannetty has led to an investigation by police. The former member of the Rockers posted a story about having made a man “disappear” when he was 13.

“That was the very first time I made a man disappear. They never found him. They shoulda looked in the Chattahoochie River,” Jannetty says in the post. The post has since been deleted but several outlets grabbed screenshots of it before it was taken down.

Local police responded to TMZ stating that they would be looking into the matter.

“We are going to look into this,” a Police representative said to TMZ. “The first step will be seeing if we have any missing persons or unidentified remains cases that match the limited information in the post.”

The police department also noted that they have “several current active homicide investigations underway and they will have to remain the priority.”

Jannetty is 60-years-old. The alleged incident would have happened in 1973 if he has his age correct in the post.

Jannetty teamed with Shawn Michaels as the Rockers from 1985 until 1992. They were voted the Tag Team of the Year by subscribers to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in 1989.

AEW Rankings Report 8/5: FTR Debut In #1 Spot

AEW has released new rankings ahead of tonight’s episode of Dynamite. FTR debut in the rankings at the #1 spot after being officially signed to contracts last week.

Here are this week’s AEW Top-5 rankings:

AEW Men’s Singles Division

AEW World Champion: Jon Moxley (14-0)
TNT Champion: Cody (17-1)

  1. MJF (8-0)
  2. Lance Archer (10-1)
  3. Brian Cage (6-1)
  4. Brodie Lee (5-1)
  5. Darby Allin (7-4)

There was no movement in the men’s single’s rankings this week. Many of the top stars of the division had the week off. TNT Champion Cody did successfully defend his title against Warhorse on last week’s Dynamite, however. He’ll team with Matt Cardona tonight to go up against the Dark Order.

#5 Darby Allin teamed up with World Champion Jon Moxley last week to defeat #3 Brian Cage and Ricky Starks. After the win, it was announced that Allin will face Moxley this week for the title.

  1. Nyla Rose (7-2)

Champion Hikaru Shida picked up a win last week over the unranked Diamante.

The Women’s Tag Team Cup kicked off this week. #1 Nyla Rose’s team with Ariane Andrew was ousted in the first round by the Dark Order’s Anna Jay and the debuting Tay Conti. Allie and Brandi Rhodes also picked up the victory over #3 Penelope Ford and the unranked former member of the Nightmare Collective, Mel.

#2 Big Swole is suspended and #5 Britt Baker is injured.

#2 The Best Friends will also take on the unranked Proud and Powerful on Dynamite tonight.
