Former MMA fighter and UFC legend Tito Ortiz recently revealed that he trained at the WWE Performance Center back in 2020. Speaking to SportsMattersTV, Ortiz thanked Shane McMahon and Triple H for allowing him to spend some time at the state of the art facilities.
“Last year in February, before this pandemic came about, I was actually at the WWE training facility” Ortiz began. “I was there for fourteen days; So I put in a lot of work and I learned a lot of stuff in a quick amount of time you know?”
“I think we worked 13 days, every day” Tito Ortiz continued. “And I was learning stuff that guys were learning who been there eight or nine months that were just learning. The coach is like you ‘catch on really, really quick.’ That’s always been a commodity for me that I am able to learn quickly; I am a fast learner with everything I do.”
Tito Ortiz Talks WWE and TNA
Ortiz also mentioned when he worked for TNA. This was back in 2013 as part of the Aces & Eights storyline. “It goes back to working hard; working for TNA was a blessing in disguise. I had an opportunity to sit down with Hulk Hogan, meet Hulk Hogan for who he truly is, a human being,” Ortiz mentioned.
Tito Ortiz finished by thanking Shane McMahon and Triple H in particular for giving him a chance to train at the WWE PC. “Once again, I got an opportunity to train at the WWE training facility and I loved it; I liked it, I thought it was great and I would fit in perfect [there],” Ortiz said.
“The pandemic came about and everything got to a halt, a stop where there was no audience. I understand I don’t want to take someone’s job who’s trying to take care of their family. I dunno, we will see what happens in the future” Ortiz added.
New IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay has made an official challenge to CM Punk. The British wrestler appeared at a post-show press conference for Sakura Genesis and relayed a number of topics for fans regarding the future of the Championship and his stable the United Empire.
“Before I was champion, a man who sparked a whole lot of interest in pro-wrestling, CM Punk said he’d like to face Will Ospreay” The new IWGP Champion noted. “Now I have the biggest prize in pro-wrestling, so if you really want to prove you were the best in the world and not the best of a bad bunch, come over here and try and take this.”
CM Punk did once say that Ospreay was an opponent he would consider facing IF he were ever to return to the squared circle. Punk made the comments during the Swing and Mrs. radio show back in March 2020.
CM Punk on Will Ospreay
“For people I haven’t ever wrestled before? I think Will Ospreay” CM Punk noted on the show. “I would listen to your idea. But there’s — like, I said, there’s a lot of moving parts. But I’m busy doing other stuff.”
“And nobody, I think, has found the right combination of ways to approach me” Punk continued. “It’s not all up to me, ladies and gentlemen. It’s up to the people who actually run the companies.”

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed another unbelievable story during the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast.
During Angle’s rookie year he was involved in a love triangle storyline with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Kurt Angle would end up kissing Stephanie backstage whilst she was ‘concussed,’ and Angle revealed how Vince McMahon had to direct the scene.
“This was ridiculously weird,” Angle began on the podcast. “To come backstage with Stephanie and have to do a pre-tape that was going live so we weren’t going to tape it, it was going to be one take. I think Vince did that on purpose so we only had to kiss once.”
Kurt Angle Talks Vince Backstage
“We got backstage and Vince wants to direct it” Angle continued. “I was like holy s–t, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon’s father is going to direct me kissing her during a pre-tape.”
“I was nervous as hell” Kurt Angle added. “Vince was four feet way, his eyes were open and I was like ‘this is so weird man. I don’t know how I’m going to do this.’ I went down to kiss her and we caught eyes and then we went to kiss and I stuck my lips out, I didn’t want to go with an open mouth because Vince was there and I didn’t want to disrespect Triple H or Stephanie.”
“After the pre-tape she goes ‘you kiss like a fish.’ I was like ‘what’d you expect Stephanie? Your Dad is here watching, he’s directing and your dating Triple H. What did you want me to do?’”
Triple H apparently put the ixnay on that storyline shortly after, but this has never been confirmed publicly.
New Japan Pro Wrestling’s latest big event Sakura Genesis took place today from Ryogoku, Japan.
The main event of the show saw Kota Ibushi defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against NJPW Cup winner Will Ospreay. Ibushi was 2-1 heading into the match against the British sensation.
Will Ospreay defeated Kota Ibushi to become the second IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in the company’s history. The IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships were ‘retired’ earlier this year and made way for this new top belt in NJPW.
Will Ospreay – New Champion
Ospreay took the win after hitting a Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker to get the pinfall and win his first singles IWGP Championship in New Japan.
Following the match, Will Ospreay called out Kazuchika Okada. The former IWGP Champion appeared but before he could speak Shingo Takagi demanded that he get a shot at the champion first.
Takagi defeated Okada in the first round of the New Japan Cup, so he asked why Okada would deserve the title shot over him. Ospreay agreed and said that he would defend the belt against Shingo first and then come for Okada.
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been going back and forth on Twitter with former UFC 2-division Champion Daniel Cormier.
Cormier is a massive pro wrestling fan, and he has expressed interest in switching over to WWE in the past.
During a conversation with Ariel Helwani, Roman Reigns said that he is able to ‘smash anyone.’ “I’ll smash anybody one-on-one, whether it’s Daniel Bryan, Edge one-on-one. DC one-on-one, I’ll smash ’em all one-on-one, it don’t matter.”
“Get him (Daniel Cormier) from behind the table” Reigns continued. “Get him in the gym, maybe. Maybe he could have a chance, I dunno. It’d be a short story, I’ll tell DC.”
Daniel Cormier vs Roman Reigns
Cormier responded to Reigns on Twitter, saying “Watch your mouth @RomanReignsWWE! I’ll dance with the big dog! @arielhelwani @espnmma @wwe.”
After Reigns replied saying “that announce table has made him soft,” Daniel Cormier seemingly sent out an ‘official’ challenge to the Big Dog.
“My advisor @arielhelwani is waiting by the phone” Cormier wrote. “It’s time to stop talking and let’s make this real! I’m 42 years old with a bad back and I’m whippin’ you any day of the week. Your move @VinceMcMahon, @HHH this my yard , I’m the big dog!”
New Japan Pro Wrestling has confirmed that another new Championship will be coming to the company.
The NJPW Strong Openweight Championship was revealed on this week’s episode of NJPW Strong. This Friday’s episode saw the Road to New Japan Cup USA 2021 begin; and it was revealed exactly what each of the eight competitors in the single elimination competition this April will be fighting for.
The 2020 iteration of the New Japan USA Cup was held to determine who would go on to face IWGP US Heavyweight Championship Jon Moxley. That tournament was of course won by KENTA.
NJPW Strong Openweight Championship
English language NJPW website NJPW1972.com sent out the following regarding the brand new title.
The title represents the pinnacle of competition on NJPW STRONG on Friday nights, and will be contested for by wrestlers of any weight class. Things are going to get even more exciting going forward on NJPW STRONG; who of the eight in this year’s tournament will become the first holder of the gold?
New Japan also recently unveiled the new IWGP World Heavyweight Championship belt. Many fans weren’t happy with the design, saying that it resembled the old WWE Divas ‘butterfly’ belt.
Do you think the new Openweight belt looks better than the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship? Let us know in the comments
New Japan Pro Wrestling’s latest big event Sakura Genesis will be taking place on Sunday 4th from Ryogoku, Japan.
The main event of the show sees Kota Ibushi defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against NJPW Cup winner Will Ospreay. Ibushi is currently 2-1 in their overall record.
There following preview for the massive bout comes from NJPW1972.com:
Ospreay’s number one contendership status was earned after a 30 minute war with Shingo Takagi. That bout showed off the Commonwelath Kingpin’s effortless ability to change gears between high flying high risk offense and intense, focused punishment.
It’s an ability that has evolved within Ospreay since making the transition to heavyweight; a transition that arguably began with the first ever in ring meeting between these two men.

WWE Superstar MVP recently took to Twitter to discuss people ‘attacking’ his criminal past on social media.
“I’m amused by people who come at me on social media from the anonymity of a keyboard” MVP began. “My favorite is when they attack me about my criminal past and prison time.”
“It really doesn’t hurt my feelings because I’ve overcome all of that” MVP continued. “And now I’m an example and inspiration to others.”
MVP Talks Criminal Past
“I think there are a number of people out there that resent very deeply that a convicted felon who came from poverty is a globally known professional wrestler that has accomplished more than they have despite my baggage. Says more about them than me” MVP added.
MVP is referring to a nine-and-a-half year prison sentence that he served as a teenager. Montel Vontavious Porter was part of a cruise ship robbery and the prison term was for armed robbery and kidnapping.
It was apparently a corrections officer, who was also an independent wrestler, who gave MVP the idea to try his hand at pro wrestling. The ‘manager’ of Bobby Lashley joined WWE back in 2005 and he was assigned to their developmental territory Deep South.

WWE Hall of Famer and one third of the WrestleMania 37 main event Edge recently spoke to app.com. The ‘Ultimate Opportunist’ discussed a number of topics during the interview, including fans finally being back in attendance for a major PPV at WrestleMania 37.
“Our audience, it’s our phantom limb” Edge began. “Without them there, it doesn’t feel quite the same yet. It’s not going to feel the way it’s supposed to until we get there that night and you actually hear a rumble and a roar out there from an audience. Then it will become fully real to me, I think.”
“Right now, as a company, we’re all kind of flying blind” Edge continued. “Because we have these stories and we have this creative but we don’t know what the actual reaction is going to be. When we walk out there, who knows how they’re going to react?”
Edge on Roman Reigns
Edge also talked about how the heel version of Roman Reigns will be affected by fans being there live. Reigns has not yet had the opportunity to unleash his ‘Tribal Chief’ persona on a live crowd since making the turn last year.
“An audience has never seen this (version of) Roman Reigns, and I think this is the Roman Reigns they’ve wanted to see for a long time” Edge claimed. “So how are they going to react? We don’t know. How are they going to react to me at this stage and kind of flipping the switch on finding the old Rated-R Superstar? Who knows.”
“I think the bottom line is you’ve just got to hope they react” The Rated R Superstar concluded. “And I’d like to think, as starved as we all are just for entertainment and a walk back into whatever our new normal is, I’d like to think that’s going to be a pretty ravenous crowd, reaction-wise.”
Last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW ended with Bobby Lashley standing over his WrestleMania 37 opponent, Drew McIntyre. Lashley had issued a reward for any talent who could take McIntyre out of contention for their ‘Mania match in just over a week.
Both Ricochet and Mustafa Ali stepped up near the end of the show and faced the Scottish Superstar. Both men were unsuccessful against Drew McIntyre, but SmackDown Superstar King Corbin appeared right at the end of the programme and took out his former stable-mate.
King Corbin sent out a tweet saying why he chose to take up Bobby Lashley’s offer and attempt to take out McIntyre.
King Corbin on Drew McIntyre
“We used to run RAW” King Corbin wrote on Twitter; referencing when he, Lashley and McIntyre were a trio for a short time. “We destroyed monsters and punished everyone. Then one guy sold out and wanted to sell T-shirt’s.”
“Bobby Lashley made an offer and I showed up!” King Corbin concluded.
It has not been confirmed if King Corbin will now be a RAW Superstar. It’s also not been confirmed if he will be in Lashley’s corner at WrestleMania 37.
It was confirmed at the start of RAW that The Hurt Business stable as it stands is now disbanded; with Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander getting booted from the group.
We used to run #WWERaw, we destroyed monsters and punished everyone.
Ring of Honor has confirmed that former company champion Dalton Castle has re-signed with the company.
ROH issued the following regarding the re-signing of Castle:
Ring of Honor is pleased to announce that Dalton Castle has re-signed with the company.
There had been speculation in recent months regarding Castle’s future, but after his victory over Josh Woods at the 19th Anniversary pay-per-view on Friday, the former ROH World Champion told backstage correspondent Quinn McKay: “I ain’t going nowhere. I’m staying in Ring of Honor.”
Dalton Castle Stays With ROH
Castle, one of the most charismatic and colorful athletes in pro wrestling, made his ROH debut in 2013. He competed in the 2015 Top Prospect Tournament and has been a fixture in ROH ever since.
Castle reached the pinnacle of the sport when he won the ROH World Championship from Cody at Final Battle 2017. He also is a former co-holder of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title.
It was previously believed that Dalton Castle was potentially looking at ‘what else is out there’ in terms of signing a long term deal.
WrestlingINC recently confirmed that Ring of Honor had offered Castle a new deal. The new contract was said to be “good,” but at that point there were no specifics.
As aforementioned, Castle was considering the offer but wanted to see “what else is out there.”
It was recently confirmed that WWE and USA Network will be moving the NXT program to Tuesday nights starting on April 13. Triple H recently spoke to Joe Otterson of Variety regarding the move.
“We now feel like we’re in a good place where we can move that consistent fanbase over to Tuesdays,” Triple H began. “We believe they’ll follow us. That way we can grow the brand more given the lead in from ‘Monday Night Raw,’ which we’ve seen in the past.”
Something that the company is likely not going to discuss is the ‘Wednesday Night Wars.’
The ‘wars’ saw AEW consistently beat NXT most Wednesdays in the overall rating and also in the key 18-49 demographic.
Triple H Talks NXT on Peacock
It was also confirmed that NXT will be airing on the NBC Peacock streaming service every Wednesday going forward. Triple H also discussed how this will help further the reach of WWE’s Gold brand.
“The ability for us to be on [Peacock], a bigger platform where so many more people have the opportunity to experience it and and to let it grow into something more, is very exciting,” Triple H noted. “And once you sample it? We believe that the product is something that people will stick with and become involved in.”
The move of NXT to Tuesday nights has been a wish of fans over the past few months. With NXT and AEW arguably being some of the best weekly programming in North American pro wrestling; this gives fans the chance to watch both on a live basis going forward.
IMPACT Wrestling star Josh Alexander recently spoke to TSN’s This is Wrestling on TSN 1200. The former tag team partner of Ethan Page discussed his The North tag team partner moving to All Elite Wrestling.
“I didn’t even think about it because I hadn’t been watching AEW really too intently,” said Josh Alexander. “And I haven’t been keeping up with storylines or anything. I looked up the pay per view, I think it was the day before, and I saw that they had the ladder match and it was a mystery for it. And I knew that, of course, they were teasing a different ex- Hall of Famer to debut as well.”
“So I just remember looking at it like, I bet it’s going to be him” Alexander continued. “You know what I mean? I just wanted to be left in the dark like everybody else so I can be a fan. I love watching wrestling as a fan if I’m pleasantly surprised by something like that happening.”
“I miss the old music. I will say that,” Alexander continued, discussing The North. “But otherwise it was just awesome to see because I know how much hard work has gone in to get him there. He’s going to be nothing but successful.”
With IMPACT and AEW now working in tandem, there’s a chance that the two former tag team partners could work together again.
Stone Cold Steve Austin recently spoke to WrestlingINC and confirmed his status for WrestleMania 37.
“They didn’t reach out to me this year,” Austin revealed to Nick Hausman. “I think they got their hands full with what they’re doing. I think it only makes sense for me to come back maybe in Texas or LA.”
“It’d be great to go back to Dallas” Stone Cold continued. “So we’ll see what happens there, but I’m fine sitting at the house watching this one.”
Steve Austin Talks WrestleMania 37
“We’ve been trying to move out of LA and move permanently over here to Nevada” Austin noted. “So we’ve had a ton of stuff going on. I’ll be watching. I’m okay not being there.”
Stone Cold Steve Austin has been appearing sporadically in WWE over the past year years. With WWE looking to get WrestleMania 37 ‘back in business’ they will likely be looking to bring back some major names.
Hulk Hogan has already been confirmed as a host for the show alongside Titus O’Neil. Beyond that it has not been confirmed if any other legends will be returning for the two nights in April.
It was confirmed on Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown that Kevin Owens will be facing Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 37. The two men have a storied past and look set to add another chapter in April at the ‘Showcase of The Immortals.’
Appearing on Talking Smack, Kevin Owens discussed the upcoming bout against his long-time frenemie.
“It’s really hard to put into words what it means to our careers because we’ve been joined at the hip since we met, in what, 2002. That’s almost 20 years ago,” Owens noted on Talking Smack.
“I like to say we’re more like brothers than friends because we never chose to be friends with each other, right?” Kevin Owens continued. “Sami and I, where we came from, Quebec, it was really hard for people to get outside of the province and make their names in wrestling. But when we started getting a bit of a buzz.”
Kevin Owens on Sami Zayn
“All these wrestling companies — independent companies — would bring us together, and we had no choice” Owens added. “They’d say, ‘We want the best two, and that’s you two.’ That’s why I like to say he’s more of a brother than a friend.”
Kevin Owens finished by saying that Zayn is one of the ‘best in the ring,’ and he hopes to ‘knock some sense’ into the conspiracy theorist when they meet at WrestleMania 37.
“Of course, the last few weeks — last few months — the Sami Zayn that’s been coming out is not exactly the guy I’ve known for almost the last two decades” Owens said.
“Yeah, sure, maybe he’s a prick, but I’ve always respected the hell out of him. But the problem I’ve had the last few months is this conspiracy theory stuff that he’s harping about in this alternate universe that he seems to live in. It’s taken him away from being one of the best in the ring. At WrestleMania, I get to knock [some] sense into him. If I’m going to do that to my brother, I can’t think of a better place to do it at than WrestleMania.

Rapper Bow Wow recently appeared on the Heels Pops Chairshots podcast. The rap star discussed a number of topics during the interview, including the recent Twitter ‘beefs’ between rappers and some WWE Superstars.
“I had to call Soulja,” Bow Wow began, discussing the ongoing ‘feud’ with Randy Orton. “I said ‘Soulja you made fun of Randy Orton! This guy has 6.5 million fans. He’s not one of those guys that needs your retweets. Randy Orton is a star. He’s there. Leave him alone! Go after The Miz!’”
Bow Wow also discussed how Bad Bunny has been used on WWE programming over the past few months.
“I love what Bad Bunny is doing,” stated Bow Wow. “But I want to see Shaquille O’Neal stuff. I loved that. It was so entertaining.”
Bow Wow on Shaq
Bow Wow continued talking about Shaq’s appearance on AEW Dynamite, where he took a hellacious bump through two tables to the outside in his match against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.
“He got hit in the back with a chair, then he turned around and started whooping everyone” Bow Wow recalled. “Then he took the fall through the table. That’s a once in a life time opportunity to do that.”
Bow Wow has reportedly been considering training to join WWE in the near future. It has not been confirmed how far along, or even if he has begun, training to get inside the squared circle.
Christian Cage recently spoke to TVInsider. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion discussed a number of topics during the interview, including which AEW stars he sees as having the most potential.
Captain Charisma says MJF and Darby Allin stand out to him as two guys who have the ‘it’ factor to become huge stars.
“MJF gets it and understands what he’s trying to convey at all times,” said Christian. “He has that poise and confidence that is hard to teach. He just has it.”
“I look at Darby Allin, who has that cool factor about him” Christian Cage continued. “That Jeff Hardy feel where people just gravitate to him. It will be interesting to get that newer Jeff Hardy-type feud against Darby.”
Christian Sees Potential
He also named a few women that he believes will be the foundation of the AEW women’s division.
“I look at the women,” he continued. “Jade Cargill has all the tools to be a huge star. Britt Baker is doing great things. She is the face of the women’s division. She really stood out to me as well as Thunder Rosa. Their match was unbelievable. The future is pretty set up here in AEW.”
Christian and Kazarian have actually crossed paths before. Shortly after AEW announced this match, Impact Wrestling tweeted the following clip from 2007:
Check out Christian Cage vs. Kaz from Genesis 2007.
New All Elite Wrestling signee ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page recently held a Q&A session on his YouTube channel. This was the first Q&A since Page was confirmed as an AEW star back at the Revolution PPV.
Ethan Page first answered who in the promotion he is looking forward to face in the ring. “I would love to wrestle Rey Fenix,” said Page. “He’s a wrestler that clearly makes his opponents better and make them raise their game a little bit. I think he’d be an awesome match. There’s the obvious choice of me and Ricky Starks just posing, looking into the camera, doing a runway walk. Or me vs. MJF in a trash talk centric match.”
“Then there’s the obvious choice; me vs. Christian or Chris Jericho” Ethan Page continued. “Me being the number one up and coming Canadian wrestler right now, I think that be iconic to have a bunch of Canadians in a match together. That be cool. I would say those are my options.”
Ethan Page on WWE vs AEW
Page finished by saying why he opted to choose AEW over going to WWE.
“I’m going to give you a very lazy answer,” Page began. “I wanted to go to AEW from the chance that I even thought about wanting to move one place to the other. AEW was always at the top of the list.”
“First of all, in WWE I would not be able to do this stream with you guys tonight” Page noted. “I wouldn’t be able to answer these questions, do my vlog, Twitch; any outside stuff like that. And I think AEW gives their talent very good creative freedom to be who they are. You’re going to see All Ego Ethan Page.”
AEW President Tony Khan recently confirmed that AAA star Laredo Kid will be returning to the promotion this Wednesday.
Laredo Kid first performed in All Elite back at Fyter Fest 2019. The AAA star’s appearance on Wednesday will be his debut on AEW’s Dynamite show.
“Nearly 2 years after his AEW debut in a classic match at Fyter Fest 2019; Laredo Kid will return for his AEW Dynamite debut this Wednesday LIVE on TNT” Tony Khan wrote on Twitter.
Tony Khan on Laredo Kid
Khan confirmed that Laredo Kid will be joining Death Triangle members Penta and Rey Fenix. Kid replaces PAC who was injured at the AEW Revolution PPV, hurting his ankle.
“Reuniting with the Lucha Brothers Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero M to battle World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and Brandon Cutler.”
PAC and Rey Fenix are the number 1 contenders to The Young Bucks’ AEW Tag Team Championships. It has not been confirmed when the match for the titles will be taking place.
“With PAC recovering from injuring his ankle at Revolution, he’s not yet cleared for the tag title shot with Rey Fenix v. The Young Bucks” Khan continued on Twitter. “So Death Triangle are bringing back the Lucha Brothers’ original Trios partner Laredo Kid to get the edge ahead of the title match!”
With @BASTARDPAC recovering from injuring his ankle at Revolution, he’s not yet cleared for the tag title shot with @ReyFenixMx v. @youngbucks, so Death Triangle are bringing back the Lucha Brothers’ original @AEW Trios partner Laredo Kid to get the edge ahead of the title match! pic.twitter.com/GswJejW1rG
WWE CEO Vince McMahon is known for not liking much sleep, and spending as much time as possible in the gym.
The company’s corporate trainer Michael A. Monteforte recently shared some footage of Mr McMahon training over the weekend and ripping it up in the WWE gym.
From the footage that was shared, Vince McMahon does not skip leg day. Monteforte mentioned the workout that McMahon was put through, saying “we did Leg Press, & Hack Squats before doing 20 Reps with 5 plates on each side. 10 Reps with 6, 5 Reps with 7, before trying our 1RM : Total 22, 45lb. Plates.”
Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre recently spoke to WFLA-NBC. The man who will go on to face Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 37 in April discussed a number of topics during the interview, including WWE’s presentation during the ‘pandemic’ era.
“We have our fans back virtually” Drew McIntyre began. “We can hear them over the speakers. It’s so cool to see them on the screens reacting, but there’s nothing like our fans being their live. Our WWE Universe. Our secret sauce, they’re our number one Superstar, they create that atmosphere that’s so unique to WWE.”
Drew McIntyre on WrestleMania 37 Fans
McIntyre also talked about the expectation of fans finally being back in attendance for WrestleMania in April. Drew of course won the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar in an empty Performance Center at 2020’s iteration of the event.
“They (the fans) have been kept away from what they love for over a year” McIntyre said. “There’s a lot of pent-up reactions that are going to come out at WrestleMania. It’s going to be loud. There might only be 25,000 limited capacity…but it’s going to sound like 200,000 people on April 10 and 11 at Raymond James Stadium.”
Drew McIntyre finished by saying that he wants to get ‘that moment’ at WrestleMania in front of fans finally. “In the end, I want my moment with the fans, with the title” McIntyre stated. “Standing on the top rope with those fireworks going off, the moment I didn’t get last year.”
NJPW star Will Ospreay faced Shingo Takagi in the main event of today’s New Japan Cup event. The British star defeated Takagi to secure his shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Title and Kota Ibushi at Sakura Genesis on April 4.
After beating Takagi, Ospreay was confronted by Ibushi in the ring. As proof that the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship means more to him than anything, Ospreay hit an OsCutter on his partner Bea Priestley.
Following these events, the Rev Pro British Heavyweight Champion talked to NJPW media and made his thoughts clear on the current IWGP Champion, Kota Ibushi.
Will Ospreay on IWGP Title
“I’m sure you’ve got a lot of questions that need answering” Will Ospreay began, speaking backstage. “I can answer some questions. I love the idea of being the best wrestler in the world.”
“As much as this trophy means a lot to me It doesn’t make me the best wrestler in the world, does it?” Ospreay continued. “Being the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion means you’re the best wrestler in the world, does it not?”
“And I love that more than I love anything, or anyone. So if I can give an OsCutter to a woman I love more than anything in the world? A woman that’s been in my life now for five years; I have a house, I have a family with that girl…but it means nothing to me.”
Will Ospreay finished by emphatically stating that he wants to get the title at Sakura Genesis. “The only thing that matters to me. The only thing I love, is to be IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.”
