Bullet Club Member Injured

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Taiji Ishimori is currently injured. The Bullet Club member was scheduled to perform at today’s Road To Power Struggle event but was pulled hours before the event.

NJPW confirmed via their English language site NJPW1972.com that “Taiji Ishimori will not participate in the event in Shizuoka at the Twin Messe Shizuoka South Building today, Thursday November 1st, due to a left ankle injury, which happened during the event in Nagano on October 31st.

Ishimori has been teaming with Robbie Eagles for the Super Jr Tag League 2018 tournament. Eagles took part in a singles match against Yota Tsuji for the Shizuoka show. Eagles took the win over Tsuji with a Turbo Back Pack.

The severity of Ishimori’s ankle injury has not yet been revealed. Ishimori was not yet booked in a bout for the upcoming Power Struggle event in Osaka this Saturday. Ishimori and Eagles have already been eliminated from the Super Jr tournament so their involvement in the show would possibly been in a multi-man tag bout at best. We’ll be able to update you further as the story develops.

Becky Lynch Talks Crowd Reaction and When WWE Officials Took Notice

Becky Lynch has become one of the biggest fan favourite performers in the WWE this year. This, despite WWE’s seemingly asinine attempts to position her as a ‘heel’ character have actually propelled her to the top of the card.

Lynch recently spoke to Sam Roberts and had some interesting comments on her fan reaction. Lynch said “I will say that I think around Money in the Bank was when it kind of came to light and people were behind me and people have really supported me along the way. There was a time when I was down and wasn’t really doing anything. I was doing interviews at WrestleMania, so 2017 wasn’t really my best year.” Lynch followed this stating her plans going forward; “I am trying to change that now. I think that at Money in the Bank 2018 people were caring and people really wanted me to win Money in the Bank. When I climbed that ladder, they were heavily cheering me and it was noticed [by WWE officials].

Cheered as a Heel

Roberts asked Becky if she was surprised by the crowd reaction given her booking as a heel character. Becky replied by saying “I don’t know how surprising that is to me because, like I said, anybody can identify with that story. Anybody can identify with the story of feeling overlooked and feeling frustrated after doing the right thing for three-and-a-half years and not going anywhere with it.” Lynch elaborated by saying that “you finally realize, you know what I am tired of this crap, I am going to do what it takes because I have been cheated out of championships and cheated out of opportunities because there were lines I wasn’t willing to cross, but now it doesn’t matter. I am willing to cross any line to take what I want.”

NXT UK Preview (10/31)

NXT UK will be airing on the WWE Network later this evening with some top bouts already announced.

The feature bout will see Noam Dar face Zack Gibson. Gibson appeared during last week’s episode and labelled Dar an “embarrassment.” NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint made the match between the two Superstars for this week. Both men are stalwarts of the UK scene and this could be a barnburner, Noam Dar has been criminally underused since joining WWE and Gibson is one of the best heel characters in the world right now.

‘Flash’ Morgan Webster will be taking on Mark Coffey. Webster broke up an assault from The Coffey Brothers on episode 1 two weeks ago, the brothers were attacking Mark Andrews after he challenged Joe Coffey.

Jordan Devlin will also be in action when he takes on Tucker. This will be Devlin’s debut match for the new WWE Network series. The Irish Superstar has been one of the standout performers on the UK independent circuit this year, having blow away matches for Over The Top (OTT) wrestling as their Champion. Devlin has also been in action for PROGRESS, scoring an incredible bout against Will Ospreay for their ‘Got Got Need’ card earlier this year, a potential Match of the Year candidate.

You can check out the results from weeks 1 and 2 here:

RIPTIDE Announce Brighton Championship Match feat. NXT UK Superstar

RIPTIDE Wrestling has announced Chuck Mambo’s first Brighton Championship defence. Mambo will be heading to RIPTIDE’s ‘Black Water’ event this Friday to face NXT UK Superstar Eddie Dennis.

Dennis has been one of the highlights of the UK scene over the past year. Since ending his career as a school headteacher Dennis has moved from strength to strength, culminating in an incredible bout against Mark Andrews for PROGRESS’ Wembley Arena event back in September. Huge appearances for the likes of ATTACK and his featured promo slots on NXT UK have put Dennis on the map in the United Kingdom.

Mambo also has excellent momentum during a stellar 2018. The Brighton Champion also appeared for PROGRESS at Wembley Arena and won the pre-show Battle Royal, eliminating Spike Trivet. Mambo won the Brighton Championship back in August at the Brighton Championship Tournament. Interestingly Mambo actually defeated Spike Trivet at the event to become the inaugural champion. Fans swarmed the ring following the match and actually crushed it under their weight.

Other matches confirmed for the show this Friday include Kris Wolf vs. Kurtis Chapman, Cara Noir vs. Mike Bailey, Chris Brookes vs. David Starr, Gideon Grey vs. Jordon Breaks and Aussie Open appearing in an open challenge.

PROGRESS Chapter 78 Main Event Announced

PROGRESS has announced the main event for their Chapter 78 show ’24 Hour Progress People.’ PROGRESS World Champion WALTER will be taking on the Number 1 contender Mark Haskins for the coveted title.

Haskins became the number 1 contender after this past week’s ‘Pumpkin Spice Progress’ show. Haskins defeated both Chris Brookes and Jimmy Havoc to earn this shot at the Austrian powerhouse.

PROGRESS Wrestling has also announced a top international bout for Chapter 78. wXw Unified Champion Ilja Dragunov will be heading to the O2 Ritz on November 11th to take on ‘The Product’ David Starr.

This will be Dragunov’s second bout for the UK promotion. Former promoter of Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) Christian Michael Jakobi appeared during PROGRESS Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 event earlier this year and challenged the reigning WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne to a bout against the wXw World United Heavyweight Champion. First Match Confirmed for PROGRESS Chapter 78 ’24 Hour Progress People’

PROGRESS Wrestling has announced a top international bout for Chapter 78. wXw Unified Champion Ilja Dragunov will be heading to the O2 Ritz on November 11th to take on ‘The Product’ David Starr.

This match took place at Wembley Arena and Dunne was victorious via submission.

Dragunov became the wXw Champion during the company’s 16 Carat Gold 2018 event back in March of this year, he defeated then Champion John Klinger and WWE linked star WALTER in an incredible bout that headlined day two of the tournament. This marked the return of Dragunov to the company and he received a thunderous reception from the wXw fanbase.
David Starr is one of the most in demand independent stars in the world. ‘The Product’ has been appearing for PROGRESS more frequently this year and had a standout bout against WALTER in Manchester earlier this year. With NXT UK taking off PROGRESS may be looking to established independent stars going forward, no two are more exciting than Starr and Dragunov.

Doug Williams Heading to NOAH for Final Japanese Bout

Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced that Doug Williams will be heading to the promotion for one final bout. The British wrestling legend appeared in a retirement bout for PROGRESS at Wembley Arena back in September.

Williams spoke to SportBible before the retirement bout against Trent Seven and made these comments:

“It was more their decision than mine,” Williams said. “They approached me with doing a different kind of storyline, which was a disgruntled veteran that was bitter about the new guys taking over. But I switched it on them and said I’m thinking about retiring next year anyway, why don’t we do a storyline that could culminate in that possibly happening?”

Williams will be taking part in a Special single match against Ogawa Yoshinari. The bout will be taking place on December 16th at Yokohama Bunka Gymnasium. This will be Doug’s first bout in NOAH in around a decade.

Doug Williams’ 25-Year Career

Williams started working as a teenager in the 90s with NWA UK Hammerlock. He was then a member of the Ring of Honor roster started their first year in 2002. He would remain with the promotion until 2007.

By 2009, he had already appeared with Impact Wrestling a few times. The promotion would then make the UK a bigger priority and Williams was cast in the British Invasion faction.

Earlier this month, Williams had a chance to earn an NWA World Heavyweight Championship match against Cody but lost to Nick Aldis.

NXT Superstar Returning to wXw for One Night Only

German based promotion wXw has announced that Axel Dieter Jr will be returning for one night only. The former Ringkampf stable member will be joining the 18th Anniversary show on December 22nd in Oberhausen.

Dieter Jr left wXw back in April of 2017. The German Superstar made his way to NXT but as of yet has not been heavily featured on the WWE Network programme. Dieter Jr finally made his NXT debut in August of this year in a losing effort against Keith Lee.

As well as his time in wXw, Dieter Jr had an impressive run for the UK’s PROGRESS promotion. Bouts against The London Riots, The South Pacific Power Trip (TK Cooper and Travis Banks) and The Hunter Brothers alongside WALTER gained him a strong following. Dieter Jr also faced British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) alongside Timothy Thatcher and WALTER.

Axel’s opponent has not yet been confirmed for the show. A headline grabber against one of his former Ringkampf stablemates could be on the cards. If wXw do decide to go down this route then a match against WALTER or Timothy Thatcher could be a potential match of the year candidate. We’ll update as and when wXw confirm Dieter’s involvement this December.

Latest On John Cena/Daniel Bryan’s Crown Jewel Status

WWE’s controversial Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia is now less than a week away. We reported previously that John Cena may not be appearing at the event and we may well have an update.

Nothing has changed regarding Cena’s status for Crown Jewel according to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer. Meltzer stated that WWE may confirm Cena’s status on tonight’s RAW show. WOR are claiming that WWE creative and staff elsewhere in the company are not even aware of what is happening with Cena in regards to Crown Jewel, but that we should have an answer after tonight’s RAW. Cena was scheduled to take part in the ‘World Cup’ tournament on the Crown Jewel card.

A potential rumored replacement for Cena’s World Cup spot is Bobby Lashley. Lashley is currently dealing with a shoulder injury that he is working through as long as possible.

Meltzer also commented on the rumors of Daniel Bryan not appearing at Crown Jewel. According to WOR no announcement will be made by WWE about Bryan not appearing at the event. It is likely that an angle will be shown on the day of the event or at this week’s Smackdown taping to explain Bryan’s absence. Bryan’s status for the show is very much “up in the air” but will not be addressed until closer to the event either way.

PAC/Neville Announced for Top UK Promotion

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) has announced that PAC will be returning to the promotion. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion will be appearing at the Portsmouth Guildhall on November 22nd. Tickets for the show are available to purchase via Rev Pro’s official website here.

The company has not yet announced PAC’s opponent for the show. The Portsmouth shows for Rev Pro are big events but not on the level of their York Hall extravaganzas. It is likely that PAC will be in a top feature match but not on the level that you would expect at a venue like York Hall. With Rev Pro’s New Japan links it would be ideal for PAC to take on one of the top NJPW stars but it is more likely that he faces a Rev Pro ‘homegrown’ talent such as El Phantasmo or Josh Bodom.

In other PAC/Neville related news Japan’s Dragon Gate promotion recently confirmed their new streaming service which featured PAC in a short promo package hyping the new over the top service alongside his RED stablemates. Fans will be able watch live/past shows for just over $13 a month. PAC made his return to the company earlier this year after leaving WWE’s 205 Live brand.

Ireland’s Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) promotion has also announced a huge return for PAC. The company has not confirmed what date the high flying superstar will return but have confirmed that it will NOT be in November.

Rev Pro ‘World of Pro Wrestling’ Episode 2 Results

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) debuted on FreeSportsUK just over a week ago on Friday 19th. The UK based company will be using the nationwide channel as the home for their new TV show going forward. FreeSportsUK made the announcement back in August via Twitter where the channel announced that the show initially would be airing “later in September.”

Here’s the results of Episode 2:

  • Colt Cabana b. Greg Burridge
  • Roppongi 3k (SHO and YOH) b. HxC (Dan Head and James Castle)
  • Chris Brookes b. El Phantasmo – Brookes took the win after a distraction by his CCK stablemate Jonathan Gresham

You may remember FreeSports as the channel that hosted the ill-fated 5 Star Wrestling earlier this year. Rev Pro is an extremely well established promotion comparatively and will relish the opportunity to be available in UK homes.

You can check out the exclusive interview we conducted with Rev Pro owner Andy Quildan here. When we discussed the timing of the new show Andy confirmed that “WoS had no impact on our decision. In all honesty whilst I watch as much product as possible from WWE, ROH, NJPW, CMLL to all the indies here in the UK, aside from learning best (or at times worst) practice I try not to let what others are doing dictate the way I choose to run my business.”

Triple H Discusses Why Roman Reigns’ First Leukemia Battle Wasn’t Made Public

Roman Reigns recently relinquished his WWE Universal Championship due to his ongoing second battle with Leukemia. WWE COO recently appeared on the Elvin Duran Show and discussed Roman’s decision to make his condition public and the reasons why his first battle with the disease was not made public.

Triple H stated that “Very few people knew about [his first battle]. He and I had spoken about it and this was something that he didn’t want to put out there until he had reached a certain point in his career because he didn’t want people to feel like he was being pitied or given things for a certain reason.” The Game elaborated further and claimed that “He wanted to be able to come out at the end and say, ‘Look, I’ve dealt with this the whole time. You can do anything. This is not an end sentence.

Triple H also spoke about RAW on Monday and what he and Roman discussed during the show, stating that “As we talked about on Monday, [I told him] ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making plans.’ The rest of the stuff happens and it didn’t work out the way he thought it would. It’s back and now’s the time to spread that message.
