PROGRESS Wrestling will be holding their 78th Chapter on November 11th. Chapter 78: ’24 Hour Progress People’ will be taking place at the O2 Ritz in Manchester.
The company recently announced that a “debut of someone you guys have been asking us to book for literally years” would be taking place at the event. Fans have been asking the question who will the “mystery man” be?
PROGRESS recently replied to a comment on Twitter that claimed “mystery name for Progress in Manchester will be PAC. If he’s doing all these bookings it must be him” (full tweet below). The company outright stated that they would nip the rumor in the bud and say that PAC will not be appearing at the show.
Ireland’s Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) recently announced that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville/PAC would be heading back to the promotion shortly. The company has not confirmed what date the high flying superstar will return but have confirmed that it will NOT be in November. This seems to correlate with the idea that PAC will not be appearing in Manchester.
PROGRESS has announced that wXw Unified Champion Ilja Dragunov will be heading to the O2 Ritz on November 11th.

Fight Network UK has announced that Bound For Glory will be airing on their UK channel for free. The channel will be broadcasting the show on Sunday 28th at 9pm.
Sky users will be able to find the show on channel 192 and Freesat users on channel 161. You can read the full results for the show here.
One of the biggest stories coming out of the show of course emanated from the Austin Aries angle. Aries had everybody guessing whether his bizarre antics from IMPACT’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view were a work or a shoot. The situation unfolded following the main event, which saw Johnny Impact capture the Impact world title. Following the finish, Aries immediately leapt up, exited the right, shouted a profanity at commentator and IMPACT executive vice president Don Callis before flipping off the crowd as he exited the arena.
Aries’ reaction had a lot of people questioning how much of what transpired was scripted. Aries’ feud with Johnny Impact grew increasingly personal in the days leading up to the show, which included deleted tweets about Johnny Impact’s wife Taya Valkyrie.
You can read the full story surrounding Aries here.
Fight Network has also confirmed that their first run airing of IMPACT will be changing. The company’s official Twitter account sent out the following message: “Fans still have three way to watch IMPACT each week – live and free on @GWNapp at 3am on Friday (and any time thereafter), the TV premiere each Friday night at 11pm on @5spiketv and the repeat on Sunday nights at 9pm on @FightNetUK. 3/3 #IMPACTUK #FNUK“

Ireland’s Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) promotion has announced a huge return. Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville/PAC will be heading back to the promotion shortly. The company has not confirmed what date the high flying superstar will return but have confirmed that it will NOT be in November.
Japan’s Dragon Gate promotion recently confirmed their new streaming service which featured PAC in a short promo package hyping the new over the top service alongside his RED stablemates. Fans will be able watch live/past shows for just over $13 a month. PAC made his return to the company earlier this year after leaving WWE’s 205 Live brand.
OTT World Champion WALTER has already challenged the former 205 Live Superstar. The Ringkampf stable member took to Twitter and proclaimed “Come and fight me!” whilst retweeting the initial announcement. PAC’s opponent is yet to be revealed and a bout against WALTER could be a huge match for the independent company. One of the bigger stars that frequently appears for OTT is NJPW’s Will Ospreay. Ospreay has repeatedly made his intentions clear for a match against PAC and the Irish promotion could be the place.

WWE Icon and sure-fire Hall of Famer The Undertaker will be heading to the UK in 2019. Inside The Ropes has announced a very special 3 date speaking tour with the Deadman. The three stops will be in London, Glasgow and Manchester.
Inside The Ropes have held some of the biggest speaking events across the United Kingdom. Stars such as Chris Jericho, Goldberg, Jim Ross, Shawn Michaels and more recently Pat Patterson have appeared for the company over the past few years.
At age 53, Undertaker is regarded as one of the greatest performers in the history of WWE. ‘Taker has been on the biggest stage for over three decades. The Deadman’s legendary WrestleMania streak will likely never be bettered with 21 consecutive wins.
This announcement is all the more impressive considering the stature and nature of ‘Taker, of course the greatest performer in WrestleMania history very rarely appears out of character for these types of events so this will be a very special tour. Interestingly the tour will be taking place after WrestleMania 35 next year.
Tickets will be going on sale next Wednesday October 31st. These will be available at 5pm UK time over at insidetheropes.co.uk. If you are in London, Glasgow or Manchester make sure that you get your tickets in early as this will absolutely sell out.

It looks as though WWE’s Crown Jewel event in November could well be in jeopardy. The show is scheduled to be taking place on November 2nd from King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
One of the Superstars that may not be appearing on the show is 16-time World Champion John Cena. According to Wrestling Observer Radio WWE’s creative team were told on Monday afternoon that Cena wouldn’t be available for the show. Cena was scheduled to take part in the ‘World Cup’ tournament on the card. Interestingly Cena was still advertised for the event on RAW this past Monday night. Whether Cena changed his mind late on Monday or if he may be more inclined to appear on the show if it is moved to a different venue is unconfirmed at this time.
It was mentioned by Dave Meltzer on the WOR show that the Crown Jewel event itself is in “jeopardy.” Reportedly it is a lot less likely to go ahead in Saudi Arabia than it was last week. Tickets were expected to go on sale for the show last Friday but this did not come to fruition.
There are also rumors that Daniel Bryan has also refused to appear at the Crown Jewel event on November 2nd. This however has not been verified and he is still scheduled to face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.

PROGRESS has announced the second title bout for Chapter 77. The show will be taking place on Sunday October 28th from the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London.
ATLAS Champion Trent Seven will be appearing in an ‘open challenge’ segment. This will be Trent’s first defence of the belt since he won it at Wembley Arena. Seven defeated Doug Williams with the stipulation that Williams must retire from proffessional wrestling.
PROGRESS also recently announced the main event for their Chapter 77 event ‘Pumpkin Spice Progress.’
PROGRESS World Champion WALTER will defend his title against New Japan’s Zack Sabre Jr. ZSJ won the Super Strong Style 16 tournament earlier this year. When Zack took the coveted tournament trophy he opted to main event last weekend’s Wembley Arena event. Unfortunately New Japan had an unannounced show in Los Angeles (Fighting Spirit Unleashed) which meant that both he and Will Ospreay could not compete at Wembley. Now that Zack is free to challenge he is taking the first opportunity to do so in October.
WALTER defended his PROGRESS World Championship against Tyler Bate recently at Wembley Arena. The Ringkampf stable member put on an instant classic with Bate that earned it’s place amongst some of the greatest matches in PROGRESS history. When the former wXw Unified World Champion faces ZSJ at the Electric Ballroom in Camden he’ll hope to find more of that magic.

Vince McMahon recently appeared as part of the Smackdown Live 1000 episode celebrations. The CEO of WWE appearing at Smackdown appears to be a fairly rare event these days according to recent reports.
The Wrestling Observer noted that McMahon is usually at home or in the WWE offices on a Tuesday, Vince is still heavily involved in the Monday Night RAW show. McMahon apparently still participates in Smackdown conference calls and oversees the show’s script. The Chairman also adds changes to the script but is not backstage with the blue brand each and every week. Even with this in mind Smackdown is still very much “Vince’s show.” His directions are still followed and the buck still stops with him.
It will be interesting to see if this changes in late 2019. As we now know FOX will be taking the Smackdown Live brand to their own channel on Friday nights. The deal in place for Smackdown is reportedly huge and McMahon may well want to oversee the transition personally. We reported recently how FOX are looking to present Smackdown as more ‘Sports’ than the current presentation style. It is also worth noting that the XFL brand will be returning in 2020. McMahon has previously stated that the XFL returning will not affect his WWE responsibilities…but this could play a factor.

This past week saw the 1000th episode of WWE Smackdown air with a litany of stars from the show’s past. One of the biggest talking points came when Evolution reunited and Batista seemingly goaded Triple H into a match at some point down the line.
Cameras caught up with ‘The Animal’ following the segment and he made some comments on his WWE return. “It was alright, it probably could have gone a little better, but I think considering how nervous I was.” Batista then revealed what he said to WWE owner Vince McMahon before getting in front of the camera; “I told Vince how nervous I was, he said, ‘When you go out there, just tell them, be honest and speak from the heart.’ First thing I said, ‘I’m nervous’ because I was. I didn’t want to pull any punches, I was nervous, man.”
Batista also commented on making his return with the Evolution stable, stating that “It’s a special thing with Evolution, it’s just a special group,” Batista elaborated on this saying that “I know it’s a newer audience, but they can feel it. There’s a special vibe between all of us, there always has been, there always will be. So, it’s a timeless energy.”
The Animal finished by stating that “I miss it here, I miss the energy, the immediate feedback,” Batista continued. “We’ll see where it goes, but it was quite an honor to be a part of this, especially since it was in my hometown.”

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) has announced the second bout for their Uprising 2018 event. The British Heavyweight Championship will be on the line at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.
Tomohiro Ishii will be defending against David Starr. Starr issued a challenge via Twitter earlier this week and Rev Pro management have honoured the request. Starr is already the Cruiserweight Champion of the promotion and will look to become the first two-weight class Champion in company history.
Rev Pro has also announced that Zack Sabre Jr and Minoru Suzuki of Suzuki-gun defend will against Aussie Open on the night. ZSJ and Suzuki have been Champions since January when they defeated Moustache Mountain. Aussie Open are the current Number 1 contenders to the titles.
Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) also debuted on FreeSportsUK this past Friday. The UK based company will be using the nationwide channel as the home for their new TV show going forward.
You can check out the exclusive interview we conducted with Rev Pro owner Andy Quildan here. When we discussed the timing of the new show Andy confirmed that “WoS had no impact on our decision. In all honesty whilst I watch as much product as possible from WWE, ROH, NJPW, CMLL to all the indies here in the UK, aside from learning best (or at times worst) practice I try not to let what others are doing dictate the way I choose to run my business.”

WWE debuted the NXT UK brand show on the Network this past Wednesday. This was a long awaited step in the evolution of NXT in terms of global presence for the ‘developmental’ brand.
NXT UK may not be the only branch of NXT in the European territory. According to the Wrestling Observer WWE are looking at expanding into Germany with a specific NXT Germany brand being considered. The Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) brand are reportedly in the fold in a relationship akin to that of PROGRESS and NXT UK.
WWE are holding a four-day tryout in Cologne next month. WWE Performance Center coach and British legend Robbie Brookside was recently seen at a wXw event reportedly scouting talent. This was all believed to be part of WWE’s planned extension into Germany, whether this means that they will be getting an NXT brand? This remains to be seen.
Opinion: It would be interesting for WWE to introduce a specific German NXT programme. The UK division took a long time to establish and bring to the Network and whilst Europe is a big market it is arguably not big enough to have TWO brands. Could WWE introduce an NXT Europe brand in the near future? This would be far more of a likely and intriguing prospect.

NXT UK debuted on the WWE Network earlier this week. The long awaited show has several shows taped and many were waiting for WWE to pull the trigger and release the content.
The initial rumor and belief was that WWE were waiting for the fate of WoS/World of Sport to be decided before unveiling NXT UK on the Network. Whilst this may be way off base it is interesting that WWE has waited this long to finally unveil their new show. With WoS getting a planned tour in 2019 the show may still be moving forward with a second series on the ITV family of channels but is yet to be confirmed.
Another interesting aspect to WWE’s timing of the release is that Rev Pro debuted on the FreeSports channel this week. FreeSports as a channel is in no way comparable to WoS’s ITV, the viewer base is but a minute of the broadcasting giant that is ITV.
Two of WoS’ stars Nathan Cruz and Kay Lee Ray took to Twitter to congratulate their fellow countrymen/women on the new NXT UK show. Kay Lee Ray stated that it was “good to see a lot of hard work paying off for people.” Cruz had further comments, stating that it was a “hell of a debut show for NXT UK. Won’t lie, it was very emotional seeing so many of my friends and peers in that opening package. So many who deserve that stage. The new boom era for the UK continues. Let’s keep competing, let’s keep improving. It’s bloody brilliant.”

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) debuted on FreeSportsUK this Friday. The UK based company will be using the nationwide channel as the home for their new TV show going forward. FreeSportsUK made the announcement back in August via Twitter where the channel announced that the show initially would be airing “later in September.”
Here’s the results of Episode 1:
- Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger b. Chris Brookes – Liger took the win after hitting a Brainbuster, Brookes turned heel after the bout after kicking Liger low. El Phantasmo came out for the save
Lord Gideon Grey appeared and announced that he had ‘acquired’ the services of The Great O-Kharn.
- The Great O-Kharn b. Harrison Thompson – O-Kharn took the win with the Iron Claw Slam
- Zack Sabre Jr. b. KUSHIDA – ZSJ took the win via submission. Zack locked on the Orienteering With Napalm Death after a great 20 minute bout
You may remember FreeSports as the channel that hosted the ill-fated 5 Star Wrestling earlier this year. Rev Pro is an extremely well established promotion comparatively and will relish the opportunity to be available in UK homes.

NJPW Star Will Ospreay has been announced for a big international bout in November. The former Best of The Super Juniors winner will be heading to the OTT promotion in Ireland on November 10th. OTT confirmed that Ospreay would be part of a tag team bout alongside NXT UK star Jordan Devlin to take on WALTER and Timothy Thatcher of Ringkampf.
Ospreay was initially injured in a bout for Rev Pro. Fans in attendance initially reported that Ospreay appeared to have landed on his neck after a missed Pele kick. This led to a hastily improvised finish soon after, with Chris Ridgeway picking up the victory over the Aerial Assassin. Since then, speculation has indicated it could be a potential intercostal/rib injury.
We recently reported that Ospreay had been pulled from a bout against Cody Rhodes in December. This would’ve been for the debuting Fight Forever promotion in the United Kingdom. Fight Forever sent out the following message earlier this week:
“Some unfortunate news. @WillOspreay has suffered an injury and will not be able to compete at Phenomena on Dec 6th. Let’s band together to send Will our best wishes, and hope he takes the time to rest up and recover. We will soon be announcing a new opponent for @CodyRhodes.”
Ospreay was also recently pulled from the New Japan Road to Power Struggle tour. Ospreay was expected to take part in a NEVER Openweight Championship match against Taichi. The ‘Aerial Assassin’ took a pinfall win over the NEVER Champion and thus gained a future bout for the belt.
