Kurt Angle Reflects On WWE Debut

Kurt Angle has had one of the most successful careers in the history of professional wrestling. The Olympic gold medalist is a six-time WWE World Champion and former Intercontinental, United States, Tag Team, and European Champion. He was inducted into the WWE Hall OF Fame in 2017.

Taking to Instagram yesterday (Sun. March 3, 2019) Angle reflected on making his televised WWE debut on an episode of Saturday Night Heat. Angle participated in a segment with Tiger Ali Singh. Singh attempted to pay Angle to blow his nose into the American flag. Instead, Angle blew his nose into Singh’s flag before attacking him.

Here’s what Angle had to say about his debut 20 years ago:

“20 years ago, I made my debut on Saturday night heat. I just started my wrestling training at the time. I never imagined I would be back in WWE 20 years later. Im getting old. Lol.”

Fighting With My Family Becomes U.K.’s Number One Film

It looks like ‘Fighting With My Family‘ is doing very well in Paige’s native United Kingdom. The biopic based on the former Diva’s Champion has become the U.K.’s number one film. Director Stephen Merchant took to Twitter to react to the good news, thanking fans for their support:

  • David Arquette Suffered Heart Attack Before Wrestling Return

David Arquette Suffered Heart Attack Before Wrestling Return

The decision to put the WCW World Heavyweight Title on David Arquette was arguably the worst in professional wrestling history. Arquette’s title win was a huge mockery to the title’s lineage and was just one of several factors that eventually led to the promotion’s demise.

Now, nearly 20 years later, Arquette is back in the professional wrestling game, attempting to restore some legitimacy to his career and ease the blow of the embarrassment that was his World Title run. However, it looks like he suffered from some serious health concerns before getting back in the ring. Arquette’s sister, actress Patricia Arquette, was recently a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

During their interview, Patricia revealed that her brother actually suffered a heart attack shortly before revamping his professional wrestling career:

“Well, he was the world champion of wrestling many, many years ago, so this is a revival of his wrestling career,” Patricia said. “So he started wrestling again, and it is scary.

“He’s older now, he had a heart attack, and now he’s wrestling. It really scares me. I actually don’t watch the matches because it would terrify me too much.”

Arquette has actually impressed many fans since his return to the industry. He visited WWE headquarters recently to do film work for an upcoming project. Arquette was also backstage for Monday Night RAW this week in Atlanta.

    Arquette’s Motivation

Speaking to People Magazine, Arquette revealed that the criticism from his World Title win has driven him to want to prove and stand up for himself. He doesn’t want to be known as just another “punk from Hollywood”:

“Eighteen years ago, I won a WCW World Heavyweight Belt,” Arquette said. “But that win was a big disgrace to the belt and the wrestling community and ever since people have been criticizing me.

“I really wanted to prove myself and stand up for myself. I was sick of being bullied and for people thinking I’m just some punk from Hollywood.”

What are your thoughts on Arquette’s return to the professional wrestling industry?

Bruce Prichard Confirms ‘Something To Wrestle’ Will Continue

The future of one of the professional wrestling community’s favorite podcast’s, “Something To Wrestle”, has been called into question as of late. Of course, that all started when it was announced Bruce Prichard had been re-hired by WWE to re-join creative. Prichard will be joining the company on a full-time basis once again and had his first show back this week on Monday Night RAW from Atlanta, Georgia.

However, with Prichard now fully committed to WWE again, how much time does that leave him to keep up with “Something To Wrestle”? He got the opportunity to clear some things up in a recent episode of the show. Prichard said that the show will not be canceled and will continue to go on. He did admit that some changes could occur as far as scheduling, which will take time to iron out:

“We’re going to figure out what it’s going to be, where it’s going to be and all of that good stuff,” Prichard stated.

“All those questions are still to be answered. We’re working our way through it. We’re going to experiment with some things and have some fun and see where we go.”

What do you think about Prichard returning to WWE?

Currently, Lana has 52 items up for sale, with prices ranging from $100 to $2,000. Some of the attire includes Lana’s WrestleMania 30 outfit, her WrestleMania 32 photoshoot outfit, some of her wrestling gear, and some worn Rusev Day shirts.

Lana has also autographed some of the items. According to the site, Lana has been selling these items since December of last year.

    Ric Flair’s Wildest Interviews (Video)

On tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW, two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair will celebrate his 70th birthday. The likes of fellow Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels has teased stopping by for the segment. Also, there has been speculation that the angle will be used to help progress Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch’s storyline.

Flair replaced the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner at WrestleMania against Ronda Rousey. “The Rowdy One” will defend her RAW Women’s Title against Flair at “The Show Of Shows” in New Jersey. The overall expectation is the match will end up being a Triple Threat.

In preparation for Flair’s 70th birthday celebration tonight, WWE posted some of Flair’s best interviews on their YouTube channel. Check it out here:

  • Shawn Michaels Teases RAW Appearance Tonight

Shawn Michaels Teases RAW Appearance Tonight

WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels could be stopping by for tonight’s (Mon. February 25, 2019) episode of Monday Night RAW. Ric Flair will be holding his 70th Birthday Celebration segment during the program. Michaels took to Twitter to respond to a Tweet from WWE hyping tonight’s segment. He teased he could be stopping by to help celebrate with “The Nature Boy”:

Michaels has been in the United Kingdom over the weekend for WWE’s NXT UK TV tapings. Perhaps “The Heartbreak Kid” will stop by the State Farm Arena in Atlanta to celebrate with the man he retired from WWE at WrestleMania 24 in 2008.

It has been speculated that tonight’s Birthday Celebration for Flair will be used to progress the storyline between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Vince McMahon suspended Lynch until after WrestleMania 35 in April. He then replaced the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble winner with Charlotte Flair. As it stands, “The Queen” will face Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Title at MetLife Stadium from East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7, 2019.

The overall consensus is the bout will wind up being a Triple Threat bout between Rousey, Lynch, and Flair. It’s also expected to be the first women’s match to ever headline a WrestleMania.

Do you think Michaels will appear on tonight’s Monday Night RAW?

  • Second XFL Head Coach Officially Revealed

Second XFL Head Coach Officially Revealed

It was announced earlier this month that former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops will be coaching the XFL’s Dallas team. This was the XFL’s first coaching announcement since revealing the team’s cities in December. Now, we have another head coaching announcement to pass along. Pep Hamilton will be coaching the XFL’s Washington D.C. franchise:

Hamilton has experience working with NFL teams such as the Browns, Colts, Bears, 49ers, and Jets. He has also worked in college football with the Michigan, Stanford, and Howard University programs. Hamilton’s job in Dallas is his first opportunity at head coaching a team. He released the following statement in response to the news:

“I’m excited to join the XFL and lead the team in Washington, a city with which I have a lifelong attachment. I appreciate the confidence Vince McMahon and Oliver Luck have in me, providing an opportunity to be the head coach and placing the football operations of their Washington team in my hands.

“We plan to put together a terrific, hard-working staff, and a great football team for fans in and around our nation’s capital.”

With Washington and Dallas now having announced their coaches, only six cities have yet to do so. Those being Houston, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Seattle, and Tampa Bay. The XFL’s re-launch season is set to kickoff on Saturday, February 8th and Sunday, February 9th, which is the weekend after the NFL’s Super Bowl.

What do you think of how the coaching staff is shaping up for the XFL?

  • Two More WWE Stars Released From Company

Two More WWE Stars Released From Company

Two more WWE stars have been granted their releases from the company today (Fri. February 22, 2019). WWE announced that they have come to terms on the release of former Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins and 205 Live star Hideo Itami. WWE did not wish either man good luck in their future endeavors.

Perkins signed with WWE back in 2016 after winning the inaugural Cruiserweight Classic tournament. With the tournament win, he also captured the Cruiserweight Championship. He’d go on to lose the strap to Brian Kendrick at that year’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view (PPV). As for Itami, he has been rumored to be leaving the company for quite some time now.

It was reported last month that the Japanese star asked for his release from the company. This came after his loss to Akira Tozawa on the January 29th episode of 205 Live. Itami was reportedly unhappy with the way he was being used. As of this writing, four releases were granted today by WWE. Those being Arn Anderson, Tye Dillinger, Itami, and TJP.

This makes things particularly interesting now that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is on the rise. Perhaps some of these names could be seen at Double Or Nothing in May.

What do you think about WWE’s decision to release TJP and Itami?

  • Seth Rollins In-Ring Status Forced RAW Changes This Week

Seth Rollins In-Ring Status Forced RAW Changes This Week

It looks like 2019 Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins was the cause of a few changes to this week’s Monday Night RAW. Rollins was expected to get physical on RAW this week but was not cleared to compete, per Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer. As a result, some re-writes to the show were made.

Rollins was initially to be heavily featured on Monday night. Instead, he did an interview segment with Charly Caruso backstage. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey had been penciled in for a squash match with Alexa Bliss. She instead headlined the program opposite Ruby Riott in a more long-form contest. Re-writes reportedly began around 1 or 2 P.M. local time when Vince McMahon arrived at the arena.

The actual script wasn’t complete until 30 minutes after RAW had already begun. Changes were still being made an hour and a half into the program.

    Rollins’ Injury

Rollins has been dealing with back issues for some time now. The injury does not require surgery, only rest, and, likely, stems. “The Architect” is close to being cleared to return to action, but was unable to do so for this week’s show. He’s still scheduled for all RAW TVs until WrestleMania, but is not being advertised for house shows. Rollins hasn’t wrestled a match since facing Dean Ambrose on the post-Royal Rumble episode of RAW.

What do you think about Rollins not being cleared forcing changes to RAW?

  • Report: Daniel Bryan Facing Kevin Owens At WrestleMania

Report: Daniel Bryan Facing Kevin Owens At WrestleMania

For those of you hoping Daniel Bryan will defend his WWE Title against Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35, we have some bad news. Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter reports that, as of yesterday (Tues. February 19, 2019) the plan is for Bryan to face the returning Kevin Owens in New Jersey:

    https://twitter.com/jeremybotter/status/1097991241990590464

This makes sense considering a previous report from Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, who suggests Owens will be returning as a babyface. Owens has been out-of-action for the past several months due to injury. WWE has been teasing his return with selfie promos in recent weeks.

On last night’s episode of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon confirmed Bryan vs. Kingston for Fastlane. The New Day member has risen tremendously in popularity as of late. He was one of the final two, along with Bryan, in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match this past weekend.

Unfortunately, Kingston came up just short of his first-ever World Title in WWE. However, he’ll get a one-on-one shot at Fastlane from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on March 10, 2019. As always, plans change frequently in WWE all the time. With that being said, perhaps there’s still hope Kingston will get his WrestleMania moment after all.

What do you think about a possible WrestleMania match between Bryan and Owens?

  • WWE Pitched Young Bucks “Invasion Angle”

WWE Pitched Young Bucks “Invasion Angle”

If The Young Bucks had decided to go to WWE, rather than sign with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), WWE had an interesting idea to introduce them to the company. Dave Meltzer reports on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that a full storyline was pitched to Nick and Matt Jackson before they ultimately decided to sign with AEW. The storyline was described as an “invasion angle” during WrestleMania 35 season.

Meltzer didn’t indicate that any other talent would be involved in the storyline. However, it’s hard not to assume the likes of Kenny Omega, Cody, and Adam Page weren’t involved. Of course, all of those men turned down WWE deals to sign with AEW. The Young Bucks reportedly turned down a three-year WWE deal that would’ve seen the brothers making AJ Styles money.

The deal also included a spot for “Being The Elite” on the WWE Network. If that wasn’t enough, WWE included a unique six-month window in which The Young Bucks could opt out of their deal if they were unhappy.

    “Aggressive” Offer

Speaking to CBS recently, The Young Bucks revealed WWE was very “aggressive” in their pursuit of their services:

“Yeah, we could say that their offer was very aggressive,” Nick Jackson said.

Matt Jackson admitted that, for a moment, he believed he and his brother were WWE-bound:

“I’ll tell you this. For a moment, I thought that we would probably be going to WWE. That was the closest that it’s ever come to us going there, for sure. And they were great. They were respectful, and they told us what our value was.

“I think it was really like a wake-up call for us. It was almost like, wow. It’s good to be wanted. These guys, they’re teaching us we are valuable and we’re worth this much. It was definitely something we were considering, and it was hard to turn down, because it would have been life-changing.”

What do you think about WWE pitching an “invasion angle” to introduce The Young Bucks to the WWE Universe?

  • Chyna’s Mother Reacts To WWE HOF Announcement

Chyna’s Mother Reacts To WWE HOF Announcement

WWE legend Chyna will finally take her rightful place amongst the company’s elite. It was announced that D-Generation X will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame prior to WrestleMania 35 this year. Chyna, one of the founding members of the group, is included in that induction. Fans have been calling for Chyna (real name Joan Laurer) to be inducted for quite some time.

However, the demand certainly heated up after her untimely passing. Her mother, Jan LaQue, has been a big advocate for Chyna going into the Hall Of Fame. After the news broke that it will finally be happening, LaQue reacted in a recent interview with Pro Wrestling Sheet:

“I am absolutely thrilled. And so is my husband. We have been invited to the ceremony and will be so proud to be there and celebrate this awesome occasion. She certainly earned this, to say the least.”

Chyna was found dead in her Redondo Beach, California home in April of 2016. She was 46-years-old. It was determined that her cause of death was due to an accidental drug overdose. Chyna helped break down barriers for women in professional wrestling. Especially given the emphasis being put on women’s wrestling today, there’s no better time to induct “The Ninth Wonder Of The World” than now.

What do you think about WWE finally putting Chyna in the Hall Of Fame?

Stephanie McMahon Congratulates Banks & Bayley

Last night (Sun. February 17, 2019) Sasha Banks and Bayley won the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Banks and Bayley outlasted other teams like Nia Jax & Tamina, Sarah Logan & Ruby Riott, Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose, Billie Kay & Peyton Royce, and Carmella & Naomi inside the Elimination Chamber. The victory also resulted in a fairly interesting bit of history.

Shortly after their victory, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon took to Twitter to congratulate The Boss N Hug Connection. She also had some nice words for all the other women who competed in the historic bout:

Finn Balor Takes Shot At Sam Roberts

Also at Elimination Chamber last night, Finn Balor captured the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush in a 2-on-1 Handicap match. This was Balor’s first singles title victory on the main roster since becoming the inaugural WWE Universal Champion back in 2016.

Unfortunately, Balor only held that title for one day before vacating it the following night on Monday Night RAW due to injury. During his interview for WWE’s YouTube channel after his win, Balor took a shot at Sam Roberts:

“Well, unlike Sam Roberts, I like to do my talking in the ring,” Balor said. “And, you know, I know Sam Roberts has a face for radio, so maybe he should stay on it.”

  • Chris Jericho Reveals Amazing Offer IMPACT Wrestling Made To Him

Chris Jericho Reveals Amazing Offer IMPACT Wrestling Made To Him

Chris Jericho is currently under contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, “Y2J” certainly had great interest from other promotions as well. One of those being IMPACT Wrestling. Speaking to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Jericho revealed that IMPACT offered him a four-match mid-seven-figure deal to sign with them:

“In my mind, from a pure business standpoint, I’m worth as much as Brock Lesnar to WWE as far as what I bring to the table. That’s the watermark that I had. For me to go back to Vince, I want that kind of a deal.

“When I was starting to talk with Tony (Khan) and New Japan and Impact as well– Impact offered me a hell of a deal for a four match series. We’re talking mid-seven figures. They have some cash as well. When they believe in something, they have money for it.”

Of course, Jericho has now signed on with AEW and will take on Kenny Omega in his first match for the promotion. That match will go down at their Double Or Nothing pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 25, 2019. Jericho will be part of a promotion that’s expected to really shake up the professional wrestling world.

Many believe AEW has a chance at eventually competing with WWE and pushing the professional wrestling juggernaut to be better. Only time will tell if that ultimately proves to be the case. Check out the current line-up for Double Or Nothing below:

  • Clarification On Undertaker’s WWE Status

    Clarification On Undertaker’s WWE Status

We now have some clarification regarding The Undertaker’s WWE status. It was announced that “The Deadman” would be appearing at Starrcast II during AEW Double or Nothing weekend. Naturally, fans had some questions. According to PWInsider, The Undertaker is still associated with WWE and has not left the company. He now has the power to take outside signing appearances.

Along with his appearance at Starrcast, The Undertaker will be doing a tour with “Inside The Ropes” in the UK. Undertaker knows he can command some stiff appearance fees for outside bookings. Because of that, expect similar appearances down the line. Given that, the former World Champion’s relationship with WWE seems to be fine.

The Undertaker’s appearance at Starrcast has been described as a “standalone experience”. Conrad Thompson made it very clear from the jump that Undertaker’s appearance at Starrcast in no way affiliates him with AEW. Thompson said, “We have wrestlers appearing from every promotion from all over the world, and Starrcast isn’t just for All Elite Wrestling fans, it’s for all wrestling fans.”

We’ll pass along more details regarding Undertaker’s “standalone experience” as soon as it’s available.

What do you think about Undertaker taking bookings outside WWE?

  • Interesting Fact After Sasha Banks & Bayley’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Win

Interesting Fact After Sasha Banks & Bayley’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Win

We have an interesting fact to pass along about Sasha Banks and Bayley’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Title victory. Banks and Bayley captured the inaugural titles at last night’s (Sun. February 17, 2019) Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

The Boss N Hug Connection outlasted the likes of Nia Jax & Tamina, Sarah Logan & Ruby Riott, Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose, Billie Kay & Peyton Royce, and Carmella & Naomi. However, with their victory, it turns out that all current WWE Women’s Titles were initially won by members of The Four Horsewomen Of WWE (Bayley, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair).

Charlotte Flair won the WWE Women’s Title at WrestleMania 32, which has since been rebranded as the RAW Women’s Title. Becky Lynch was the first-ever SmackDown Live Women’s Champion. And now, Bayley and Banks are the first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

It should be noted, these new titles do not share the same lineage as the old Women’s Tag Team Championships from the ’80s. It will be interesting to see if the Four Horsewomen Of WWE eventually match-up with The Four Horsewomen Of MMA (Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir).

What do you think about The Four Horsewomen being the first title holders of all current Women’s Titles?

  • Bray Wyatt Reportedly Nearing WWE Return

Bray Wyatt Reportedly Nearing WWE Return

It looks like former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt is nearing his return to WWE TV. PWInsider is reporting that the word going around is that “The Eater Of Worlds” is hoping to get clearance from WWE doctors very soon.

Wyatt last worked during a live event in December. He defeated Baron Corbin in singles action. That was Wyatt’s first match since working the November Starrcade live event, in which he also defeated Corbin.

There’s currently no word or indication as to what WWE has planned for Wyatt once he returns. He hasn’t been seen since losing the RAW Tag Team Championships with Matt Hardy last summer.

    Not Staying Quiet

Just because Wyatt hasn’t been on WWE TV in the past several months, however, doesn’t mean he has been keeping quiet. The Wyatt Family leader took to Instagram just a few short weeks ago to offer some advice to young talent. The gist of Wyatt’s message – “F*** what anyone thinks of you”:

“To all those who are up and coming, I remember what it’s like for everyone on the planet to think you are the most amazing new thing they have ever seen. I remember even more the feeling of everyone turning on you.

“Saying you are a one hit wonder, overrated, boring. Every time my life is screwed up I find my genius. My calling to this world. To all those up and coming, f**k what anyone thinks of you.

“The greatest satisfaction is showing up more ready than anyone thought you’d ever be. Revenge is a confession…….For #Knash

A title match is set for the kickoff pre-show of this weekend’s (Sun. February 17, 2019) WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV). The show goes down from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. WWE announced that the Cruiserweight Championship bout between defending champion Buddy Murphy and Akira Tozawa will take place on the kickoff pre-show.

The WWE’s one-hour pre-show kicks off at 6:00 P.M. ET. Also on the main card is an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. Daniel Bryan defends his title against Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, and Kofi Kingston. In the other Elimination Chamber match of the night, the first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions will be crowned.

The teams of Nia Jax and Tamina, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, Billy Kay and Peyton Royce, Bayley and Sasha Banks, and Carmella and Naomi will compete for the honor.

    Elimination Chamber Card

    Main Card:

    • WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships: (C) Shane McMahon & The Miz vs. The Usos
    • WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Elimination Chamber Match: Nia Jax & Tamina vs. Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan vs. Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose, Billie Kay & Peyton Royce, Bayley & Sasha Banks, Carmella & Naomi

  • Dean Ambrose vs. Nia Jax Advertised For WWE Live Event

Dean Ambrose vs. Nia Jax Advertised For WWE Live Event

On last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Dean Ambrose was defeated in a bout by Seth Rollins. After the match, Ambrose began to cut a promo in the ring before being interrupted by Nia Jax and Tamina. The two had a standoff for a brief moment, before Ambrose attempted to leave the ring. However, Jax clocked “The Lunatic Fringe” with a forearm and sent him through the ropes and out the ring.

Shortly after, Ambrose was interviewed backstage to get his reaction to the situation. Ambrose said he’s going to forgive Jax and accept what he believes was an apology when Jax screamed at him from the ring as he left. Now, WWE will be using the incident at an upcoming house show.

A commercial promoting an upcoming WWE live event in Jonesboro, Arkansas on February 22nd is advertising an intergender match between Ambrose and Jax. Check it out here:

    https://twitter.com/flairsnia/status/1094044544566476802

It remains to be seen if the feud will make its way to WWE TV, but the company certainly wouldn’t be against it. Jax interacted with male Superstars physically during the Men’s Royal Rumble match last month.

She entered at number 30 after attacking R-Truth and taking his spot in the match. Jax proceeded to eliminate Mustafa Ali. However, she was then attacked by Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, and Randy Orton. After eating a finisher from each man, Jax was finally eliminated.

What do you think about Ambrose being advertised for an intergender match with Nia Jax?

  • Update On Brock Lesnar’s WWE Schedule

Update On Brock Lesnar’s WWE Schedule

As you might expect, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar isn’t scheduled for any dates with the company anytime soon. He’s not being advertised for WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV) next week. Lesnar is neither scheduled for Monday’s episode of RAW or WWE Fastlane, the final WWE PPV before WrestleMania 35.

“The Beast” was initially scheduled for the post-Elimination Chamber episode of Monday Night RAW on February 18th. He was also advertised for Monday Night RAW the following week in Atlanta, Georgia on February 25th. However, WWE has since removed Lesnar from those dates. As of this writing, Lesnar is only being advertised for the March 18th episode of Monday Night RAW from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This is the only pre-WrestleMania show Lesnar is currently advertised for. Of course, this could all change at any time.

It should be noted that Lesnar didn’t compete at either Elimination Chamber or Fastlane last year either. Of course, Fastlane was a SmackDown single-brand PPV last year, meaning Lesnar wasn’t supposed to work it anyway. Lesnar’s last match took place at the Royal Rumble last month when he successfully defended his Universal Title against Finn Balor.

Now, he’s expected to defend his throne yet again, this time at WrestleMania 35 against 2019 Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins. WrestleMania 35 goes down from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7, 2019.

What do you think of Lesnar’s WWE schedule as it currently stands?

  • WWE Confirms Dates For Next Superstar Shake-Up

WWE Confirms Dates For Next Superstar Shake-Up

WWE has confirmed when it will hold its next Superstar Shake-Up. A commercial aired earlier this week during Monday Night RAW in Canada to promote the upcoming RAW and SmackDown tapings on April 15th and 16th in Montreal. The commercial was promoting “the first international Superstar Shake-up” for the shows. After much speculation on social media, WWE has finally confirmed the news to be true.

They released the following YouTube video:

Last year’s Superstar Shake-Up took place on April 16th and 17th. Some of the more notable names to switch brands included Jeff Hardy, Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, Samoa Joe, The Bar, Jinder Mahal, Baron Corbin, and more. It will be interesting to see which names move where this year.

Especially with SmackDown Live heading to FOX in October, and WWE likely having big changes planned for the program. It has been reported that FOX would like to have former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and current RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey on the blue brand.

FOX aims to present SmackDown as more of a sports show than a comedy. The presence of figures like Rousey would certainly help out in that aspect.

Kenny Omega Officially Signs With AEW

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) continues to take the professional wrestling world by storm. Earlier today (Thurs. February 7, 2019) AEW held its “Double Or Nothing” Ticket Announcement Party from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. To close out the event, AEW announced its biggest signing yet.

Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega has officially joined the promotion. Following months of speculation regarding where he may end up, Omega has joined his fellow former Bullet Club members, Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks. Along with serving as a talent, Omega has also been named an Executive Vice President of AEW.

Omega told the Las Vegas crowd that he only put pen to paper this morning. He is now a full-time member of the AEW roster. Omega said he looks forward to finally being able to change the world alongside the cast and crew of AEW. “The Cleaner” was then interrupted by Chris Jericho, who came face-to-face with Omega before attacking him.

Now, the pair will wrestle one another in their first match under the AEW banner at Double Or Nothing. The pay-per-view (PPV) goes down from the MGM Grand on May 25, 2019. AEW’s official Twitter account hyped the match-up with the following:

  • News On WWE Programming Coming To FOX Cable Channel

News On WWE Programming Coming To FOX Cable Channel

As we’ve noted, FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collie spoke to media during FOX’s presentation at the Television Critics Association 2019 gathering today (Wed. February 6, 2019). While he shed some light on FOX’s plans for what day of the week SmackDown Live will air, he also made an interesting comment. It was noted that “other” WWE programming could air on FS1. As to what programming Collie was referencing was not made clear.

However, it has long been rumored that NXT could be making its way to cable television. NXT is received by some as WWE’s best product. With all the success it has seen on the WWE Network, as well as its TakeOver events, the potential for the program on a platform such as FS1 is huge. WWE signed a five-year broadcast deal with FOX to air SmackDown Live this year. The deal is set to kick in on October 4th. However, the deal is only for SmackDown Live content at the moment.

It wouldn’t be entirely surprising if WWE and FOX were also working on bringing additional content, such as NXT, to some of FOX’s other various platforms. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

Do you think Collier was referencing to NXT heading to FS1?

  • Friday Night SmackDown On FOX Could Be Temporary

Friday Night SmackDown On FOX Could Be Temporary

During today’s (Wed. February 6, 2019) Television Critics Association 2019 gathering, FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collie spoke to media during FOX’s presentation. Collie revealed that SmackDown Live would be replacing FOX comedies on Friday nights, per PWInsider. Those shows will then be moved to other nights on the network. Collie also noted that SDL being on Fridays was “short term”. With that being said, that means it’s still possible the blue brand is moved yet again.

    WWE’s SDL Deal With FOX

WWE’s five-year deal with the FOX network kicks in on October 4th, 2019. It has been reported that FOX wants SmackDown Live to have more of a sports-oriented feel rather than comedy. With that, FOX would like to retain the services of current UFC commentator and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. “DC” worked as an analyst for the UFC on FOX before the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion moved to ESPN.

Also, FOX would like Ronda Rousey to be a member of the blue brand, if WWE decides to keep brands separate after SmackDown officially makes the move. WWE will likely oblige, as they’re under pressure to put up good numbers. This week’s SmackDown Live was the least viewed episode since the brand went live in 2016.

What do you think about SmackDown Live possibly moving from Fridays on FOX?

  • UFC Champ Daniel Cormier Takes Shot At Brock Lesnar

UFC Champ Daniel Cormier Takes Shot At Brock Lesnar

The beef between UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar continues. Cormier took to Twitter today (Tues. February 5, 2019) to take a shot at “The Beast”. “DC” simply posted a photo of he and Lesnar’s recent encounter inside the Octagon, captioning it with “Fat neck!”:

Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight championship in the main event of UFC 226 this past summer. After the fight, Lesnar, who was seated cageside, entered the Octagon. The pair engaged in a shoving match, before Lesnar said he was coming after the heavyweight title again. Lesnar won the UFC heavyweight title back in 2008 when he defeated the legendary Randy Couture.

After two successful title defenses, Lensar was defeated by Cain Velasquez in October of 2010. Lesnar’s last UFC fight took place in July of 2016, in which he defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision at UFC 200. However, the fight was later overturned to a No Contest after Lesnar failed a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test.

He’s expected to defend his title against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 in April. Talk of a UFC fight between he and Cormier has been speculated for several months now. It remains to be seen what “The Beast” will decide to do next.

Do you think Cormier and Lesnar will fight each other in the near future?
