Rick Martel Pushing For WWE Hall of Fame Induction

Wrestling legend Rick Martel is eager to take a place in the WWE Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments in the squared circle. When the ’80’s Wrestling’ account on X asked its followers if Martel deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame, Rick himself made his views clear.

Martel also re-tweeted a post asking fans if he deserves a spot in WWE’s Hall of Fame. Many fans were all for the idea for both his work inside the promotion and in other territories.

Rick Martel: WWE Hall of Famer?

Martel certainly had a fulfilling career in the ring before he officially retired in March 1999. Martel is a former AWA World Champion, WCW TV Champion and three-time WWF Tag Team Champion. Martel also held gold in the NWA, Puerto Rico’s WWC, Georgia Championship Wrestling and Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling. In 2011, Martel’s accomplishments were recognized as he was inducted into the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame four years later.

The WWE Hall of Fame selection often comes under scrutiny by fans, with many names inducted seen as ‘undeserving’ of the accolade. Similarly, many names fans hoped to see inducted have yet to be given the nod, including the likes of William Regal and the late Owen Hart. As for whether ‘The Model’ gets a nod, time will tell, but Martel is ready to make an acceptance speech if WWE gives him a phone call.

Peacock Scrubs Controversial Carlito Line From WWE Raw Episode

A controversial comment by Carlito made during the October 21, 2024, edition of WWE Raw has been removed from Peacock’s upload of the show. The comment, made during a segment with Adam Pearce saw Carlito say “I gotta learn Chinese” after IYO SKY and Kairi Sane left the room.

Many took issue with the line, believing it played on harmful stereotypes about Asian people, as SKY and Sane are both Japanese, not Chinese. On Peacock, the segment has been edited and now Pearce simply asks Carlito what he wants, without the comment from the Judgment Day member.

The line was not scripted, with those who heard it within WWE’s production said to have been in disbelief over what was said. This line and backlash came about during a time when Triple H’s creative direction had come under great scrutiny by fans. The WWE CCO was criticized for his  his answer on the lack of representation of black talent on WWE Premium Live Events.

Peacock Removing Content

This isn’t the first time Peacock has edited WWE content that it feels may not reflect its values. Other examples of WWE content you won’t find on Peacock include:

  • DX’s parody of the Nation of Domination, which included the use of blackface.
  • Vince McMahon’s use of the N-word in a segment with John Cena and Booker T.
  • Roddy Piper painting half his body black for his feud with African-American wrestler Bad News Brown.
  • Mickie James licking her hand after grabbing Trish Stratus’ crotch at WrestleMania 22.

Now, Carlito’s controversial line has been cut from Peacock, years after a ‘fan’ told SKY during a WWE NXT match to ‘Go Back to China.’ Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest from WWE.

WWE’s Jade Cargill Signs with Paradigm Talent Agency’s Sports Division

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill is the latest Superstar to join Paradigm Talent as part of the agency’s new ‘Sports Group’ division. Paradigm will search out major roles for Cargill outside of the ring, and she follows in the footsteps of past signings including Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan, Tiffany Stratton, Damian Priest, and CM Punk.

Cargill is already familiar with blending the worlds of pro wrestling and non-wrestling entertainment as she often donned cosplay in AEW. From She-Hulk to Storm to Cheetara, Cargill was able to demonstrate her creative side by embodying other characters but is waiting for the right moment to do the same in WWE.

Jade Cargill: The Storm

Signing with Paradigm is the latest major move for Cargill, who has risen through wrestling’s ranks since her debut in 2020. In 2022, Cargill became the first TBS Champion and would boast a 60-match undefeated streak in AEW which was ultimately shattered by Kris Statlander.

2023 saw Cargill continue to grow as she joined WWE but waited until the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble to make her in-ring debut. Cargill would quickly fall into an alliance with Bianca Belair, and the pair are two-time (and current) WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Cargill is also a force to be reckoned with outside of the ring, with nearly two million social media followers and a master’s degree in child psychology to her name. Cargill is part of a real-life power couple as she and her husband former MLB star Brandon Phillips, co-own the Women’s Professional Fastpitch team, the Texas Smoke.

Now, Cargill is poised to take another step in her rapidly expanding career, this time outside of the squared circle. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Jade Cargill and her future, both in and out of the ring.

First Look at Dwayne Johnson’s Maui in Live Action Moana Adaptation

Movie fans have caught their first glimpse at Dwayne Johnson as Maui in the live-action adaptation of Disney blockbuster success Moana. Johnson will portray Maui in the film, the same character he voiced in the 2016 Moana animated film.

Moana’s live-action adaptation is scheduled to land in cinemas in July 2026 and will see Catherine Laga?aia in the titular role. The film is expected to follow the plot of Moana (2016,) which sees a Polynesian chief’s daughter search for a mystical relic to save the island she calls home.

Fans won’t have to wait until 2026 to see Johnson as Maui, as the actor will voice the character once more for Moana 2, a sequel to the initial animated film. Moana 2 will release on November 27, 2024, and sees Auli?i Cravalho and Johnson return to voice Moana and Maui.

The Rock And WWE

While Maui is a fun-loving, easy-going character, Johnson has been anything but since his transformation into the heel ‘Final Boss’ earlier this year. The Rock returned to WWE TV at Bad Blood in a tense staredown with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Talk continues to grow about The Rock being at WrestleMania 41, with the Brahma Bull decrying “bull****” reports that he has told WWE he won’t make the show.

Whether he’s handling business in the ring, providing his voice for major animated projects, or electrifying in person on the big screen, Dwayne Johnson remains a leading man in entertainment. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Johnson, both in the ring and on the silver screen.

Giulia Sets Sights on Rhea Ripley, Discusses Transition To The U.S.

WWE NXT Superstar Giulia may have only recently arrived in the silver brand, but the Japanese sensation already has her eyes on the main roster. Speaking to Bully Ray on Busted Open After Dark, Giulia shared who she plans to face in WWE.

“I want to wrestle the Japanese girls and Rhea Ripley. I love Rhea Ripley.”

Giulia may have to wait some time before she gets the chance to face Ripley as WWE reportedly has huge plans for her in NXT’s women’s division. On this week’s WWE NXT, Giulia vowed to become this year’s Women’s Iron Survivor winner at NXT Deadline. Ripley also had a huge week as ‘Mami’ returned from injury on Raw to attack Liv Morgan and will join Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Naomi, and IYO SKY in WarGames.

Transitioning to America

After being seen in the crowd at Stand & Deliver, Giulia made her official NXT debut at No Mercy after making a massive name for herself in Japan. On the podcast, Giulia contrasted her time competing in Japan to the United States.

“[It’s] Very different, the style, all different. Here [it is] very important, the TV program. There [they] don’t have TV program. Also, the audience [is] so different.”

Whether it’s in the United States or Japan, Giulia is continuing to win over audiences around the world as the ‘Beautiful Madness.’ Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Giulia as she has big plans for NXT and beyond now she’s part of WWE.

MVP: WWE Planned to Turn Hurt Business into Nation of Domination 2.0

In WWE’s Pandemic Era, the Hurt Business was a highlight of programming, but MVP had to fight to stop it from turning into a revamped Nation of Domination. On X, MVP said that WWE not only intended to turn the group into ‘NOD 2.0’ but planned to bring in Nation alum Mark Henry and Ron ‘Farooq’ Simmons.

https://twitter.com/the305mvp/status/1858983369444618466

MVP’s post spawned several responses. When one fan asked why Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque was reportedly against bringing the group back, MVP admitted he hadn’t spoken with WWE’s CCO.

Another commenter suggested that the Hurt Business’ inspiration did not come from race, but seemed to be akin to Def Jam: Fight for New York.

Though the Hurt Business only featured African-American talent, the topic of race never played a factor in their role on-screen. The Nation of Domination often made reference to race, including in 1997 when Farooq claimed Vince McMahon did not want a black man to be a World Champion.

The next year, D-Generation X would parody the Nation in a segment that saw several members of DX use blackface to mock the Nation. While the segment has often been presented by WWE as a highlight of Raw’s Attitude Era, the segment has stopped being shared in recent years as tastes have changed. In 2021, WWE scrubbed the segment from its media library as part of its move to Peacock.

Now, MVP has revitalized the Hurt Business as the Hurt Syndicate alongside Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. Once again, the topic of race has not come up in AEW and fans are eagerly awaiting Lashley’s in-ring debut with Swerve Strickland at Full Gear this weekend. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on MVP and his efforts to define the Hurt Syndicate in All Elite Wrestling.

Goldberg Calls This Adam Sandler Film One Of His Greatest Experiences

After retiring from the ring in 2004, WWE legend Bill Goldberg turned to acting, with several unique movie credits to his name. In 2005, the former World Champion found himself on the Big Screen with Adam Sandler, which proved to be one of the greatest experiences of the wrestler’s life.

The film in question was The Longest Yard, which sees disgraced NFL quarterback Paul Crewe (Sandler) try and survive in prison. On the Cat’s Corner podcast, Goldberg gushed about working with the comedy actor.

“It was one of the best experiences of my life because I was able to work alongside Burt Reynolds and Adam Sandler and Nelly… Just the whole eclectic group of people was awesome. Adam took great care of everybody.”

Goldberg plays Joey ‘Battle’ Battaglio, one of the many cons who joins Crewe for a prisoners vs. guards game of football. Goldberg is hardly the only wrestler fans will spot in the film, which includes Bob Sapp, The Great Khali, Kevin Nash, and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

Goldberg’s Final Match

Eleven years after his role in The Longest Yard, Goldberg returned to wrestling as part of WWE and is now gearing up for his retirement match. The WCW legend has already named GUNTHER the front-runner for his final-ever opponent, though has stopped short of confirming a match with the World Heavyweight Champion. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest from Goldberg as the legend prepares to say goodbye to the ring in 2025.

Vince & Linda McMahon Are Separated, Says Linda’s Attorney

Former WWE heads Vince and Linda McMahon are separated, according to an attorney for the latter who spoke this week. In a statement to the Washington Post, Linda’s attorney, Laura Brevetti stated that the 76-year-old and Vince are separated.

This news comes amid reports that President-Elect Trump will nominate McMahon as Education Secretary in his next administration. Linda served as Trump’s Small Business Administration chief from 2017 to 2019 and has remained supportive of his initiatives, including his attempts to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election. McMahon served on Connecticut’s Board of Education from 2009-2010 but has no history in teaching.

Much was made of the relationship of Vince and Linda following the 2022 ‘hush money’ scandal that saw Vince step away from WWE in June of that year. While McMahon was able to force his way back into WWE in January 2023, he stepped down in January 2024 due to Janel Grant’s lawsuit. McMahon was tight-lipped during the recent Mr. McMahon docuseries by Netflix which explored some of Vince and WWE’s past controversies.

The Ring Boy Lawsuit

The McMahons, alongside WWE and TKO, are facing another lawsuit regarding the ‘Ring Boy’ scandal, which alleges that underage boys were groomed, exploited, and abused by Mel Phillips at wrestling events and other locations. In a statement, Brevetti said the following about her client’s ties to the suit.

“This lawsuit based upon thirty-plus-year-old allegations is filled with scurrilous lies, exaggerations, and misrepresentations.”

Linda and Vince married in 1966 when she was 17 and he was 21. The pair have two children, both of whom are married, and six grandchildren. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Linda McMahon.

WWE Raw Netflix Debut: Venue, New Theme, Surprises

We are just weeks away from WWE Raw’s debut on Netflix. As WWE embarks on its multi-billion-dollar deal with the streaming juggernaut, all eyes will be on the promotion to get things right and kick off this new era with a strong start.

Star Power

For such a historic episode of Raw, WWE is certainly not shying away from bringing in the stars, with John Cena, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns all confirmed. One name fans will also see is rap artist Travis Scott, whose role was confirmed this week alongside WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.

New Theme by Travis Scott

Not only will Scott be live at the show, but he will also provide the new theme song for the brand, so it was only fitting that ‘Cactus Jack’ was recently gifted a custom Hardcore title.

Scott’s involvement is the latest example of WWE’s ongoing momentum in appealing to the mainstream. Megan Thee Stallion and RM of BTS have provided the theme to WWE SmackDown, while Cardi B has been promoting SummerSlam 2025 with Bianca Belair.

The Netflix Effect

With over 60 million households tuning in to the recent Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight, Netflix certainly has the edge when it comes to attracting a global audience compared to Raw’s current broadcast partner, USA Network.

Though Tyson vs. Paul had streaming issues, WWE has reportedly been informed this won’t be the case for Raw. One WWE source is reported to have said that WWE would hardly be against tens of millions of fans tuning in each week, even if it leads to technical issues.

TV-14

This week, Raw was listed as TV-14 on Netflix, which allows for cruder dialogue, greater violence, and more suggestive themes compared to what fans receive today. WWE changed to TV-PG in 2008 in a move that, while financially sound, led to criticism from many fans who took issue with the ‘toning down’ of the product. AEW Dynamite has been TV-14 since the show’s inception in late 2019.

Stay tuned for more news on WWE Raw as the wrestling world prepares for the red brand’s premiere on Netflix on January 6.

The New Day’s Secret To A Decade Of WWE Tag Team Dominance

For nearly a decade, The New Day has been one of the most beloved and enduring teams in all of professional wrestling. From hosting WrestleMania 33 (2017) to their very own Booty O’s cereal brand, the group has done it all. What is the secret to their longevity?

Speaking to the New York Post, Kofi Kingston said that the group has stayed strong since 2014 because their friendship is real.

“a lot of tag teams get thrown together… All of us, we really strive to push our brothers, to lift our brothers up. That’s what The New Day is all about. It’s all about brotherhood. And we really believe that to our core.”

In addition to their accolades as a trio and in tag team combinations, each New Day member has achieved success independently. Kofi and Big E each won the WWE Championship (in 2019 and 2021, respectively). While Xavier Woods has yet to hold singles gold, he won King of the Ring in 2021, a concept Woods himself advocated to return.

Kingston acknowledged that he and Woods haven’t exactly been seeing eye-to-eye as of late, but said such issues are ‘typical’ with sibling relationships, as he considers the New Day to be a brotherhood.

Latest On Big E

Since March 2022, the New Day has been down a member, as Big E has been out of action with a broken neck. Kingston explained that Big E literally came within an inch of his life, as even the slightest of changes could’ve made his situation so much worse.

“If his neck had broken one way, a degree, he would have had a stroke. If he would have broken it a degree, the other way, he would have been paralyzed a degree.”

It has been “motivating and inspiring” to see Big E get to where he is mentally, as the powerhouse has routinely displayed the New Day’s signature optimism since the unfortunate accident. Kingston even said that its easy to forget Big E was ever injured in the first place, such is the positivity of his fellow ex-WWE Champion.

The Odyssey Jones Exit

Earlier this year, WWE attempted to bring Odyssey Jones into the fold, seemingly as a Big E replacement, though that didn’t work out. Jones was removed over domestic violence allegations, an act that left Kingston and Xavier Woods having to adapt.

“Once Odyssey was out of the mix, we just had to figure out a way to pivot and keep the story going and keep on moving forward, because, as they say, the show must go on.”

WWE has a special New Day episode of Raw planned to celebrate the group’s 10 years, in spite of the issues between Kingston and Woods on TV.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on The New Day as they prepare to mark a decade of dominance in WWE’s tag team division.

Mickie James Is Ready To Make WWE & TNA Return Happen

Mickie James is an undisputed legend of the ring, and the former Women’s Champion is ready for one more match in either WWE or TNA Wrestling. When a fan on X shared their hope to see James back in either promotion, the 45-year-old wrestler teased that this could happen down the line.

James has a successful history in both promotions with several championship reigns to her name. James’ most recent match for WWE was as part of the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, though she entered as a representative for TNA (then Impact Wrestling.) James’ most recent match for TNA came at October 2023’s Bound for Glory event, where she challenged Knockouts Champion Trinity (now Naomi.)

As a legend of women’s wrestling, a return to either company would be huge for James and allow her to work with familiar opponents as well as talent she’s never stepped in the ring with. A return to WWE could also see James reunite with real-life husband Nick Aldis who joined WWE this year as SmackDown’s General Manager.

With WWE and TNA partnering in 2024, fans can’t count out James appearing in both promotions as part of this teased return to the ring. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Mickie James and the next steps in her pro-wrestling journey.

Alexa Bliss Eager for WWE Return, but it’s Out of Her Control

Alexa Bliss is reassuring fans that she is eager to return to WWE, but unfortunately the timing of her comeback is out of her hands. On Monday, Bliss shared a “Where’s Alexa” meme on social media, sparking a wave of responses from fans who are excited to see her back in the ring.

In response to one fan, Bliss clarified that she isn’t the one deciding when she returns.

She also addressed another fan’s comment suggesting she wasn’t interested in wrestling anymore, revealing instead that she’s been dealing with health issues since her last appearance.

Bliss’s most recent WWE match took place at the 2023 Royal Rumble PLE, where she faced then-Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Despite a post-match segment with Uncle Howdy hinting at a new storyline, Bliss disappeared from TV shortly afterward due to her pregnancy.

In November 2023, Bliss and her husband, Ryan Cabrera, welcomed their daughter Hendrix Rouge Cabrera.

Despite the personal milestones and challenges Bliss has navigated during her nearly two-year absence, the 33-year-old remains enthusiastic about her in-ring return. Fans continue to hope for her comeback, and Bliss’s updates have kept the anticipation alive.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest updates on Alexa Bliss’s WWE future.

Triple H Gifts Custom Hardcore Title To Travis Scott At Latest Concert

Travis Scott’s wrestling fandom is no secret and now the rap artist has been gifted a custom Hardcore Championship, courtesy of Triple H. At Scott’s latest concert, the WWE’s Chief Content Officer stunned attendees with his surprise appearance and his unique gift for the founder of Cactus Jack Records.

Scott could bring his brand new championship to Monday Night Raw when the show debuts on Netflix on January 6. WWE has confirmed that the show will air from LA’s Intuit Dome and that Scott will appear live.

Last month, it was reported that Scott had been in talks to appear on the debut Raw of 2025. The rap artist has never shied away from his WWE fandom and performed at the recent ComplexCon which also featured CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, and other WWE names.

Scott is already a huge name in the world of music and his role with WWE will provide the opportunity for more crossover for rap and wrestling fans. Whether Travis Scott defends his Hardcore Championship, that remains to be seen, but expect plenty more from the artist, especially when Raw moves to Netflix in January.

WWE Confirms Intuit Dome and Music Star For Raw’s Debut On Netflix

WWE Monday Night Raw’s new era on Netflix will kick off from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, with a very special guest. On X, WWE confirmed the location for the much-anticipated January 6, event and shared that Travis Scott will be there live. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, November 22, and will be available via Ticketmaster.

This confirmation comes after months of reports that the Intuit Dome would be the venue of choice for Raw’s new era on the streaming juggernaut. The 18,000-capacity venue opened its doors in Inglewood, California in August of this year is the home venue of the Los Angeles Clippers. The state-of-the-art facility will also host Olympic basketball during the 2028 Summer Games.

Last month, it was reported that Scott had been in talks to appear on the debut Raw of 2025. The rap artist has never shied away from his WWE fandom and partnered with Rey Mysterio at Fanatics Fest in August.

WWE Raw on Netflix

WWE’s lucrative deal with Netflix is valued at $5 billion over ten years and will see the red brand host all of its weekly events on the platform from January onwards. Fans outside the United States will also receive WWE SmackDown, NXT, and Premium Live Events.

WWE Raw will have a new logo to match its new era, and despite streaming issues during the recent Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson fight, WWE has been assured that these problems won’t affect their show. With John Cena set to kick off his farewell tour when Raw moves to Netflix, the January 6, show will be the place to be for wrestling fans with a deluge of wrestling stars and more promised for the hotly-anticipated event.

Cody Rhodes Hints at The Rock’s Role at WrestleMania 41

The Rock will have a key role to play at WrestleMania 41 next April, whether he’s in the ring or not, so says WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Speaking to Adrian Hernandez at ComplexCon, Rhodes addressed the possibility of the Final Boss being involved in next year’s two-night spectacle which will take place from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

“Whether he’s in the ring or not, he is very much still involved with what happens at 41. I know when he comes back, I know who he’ll come looking for, and I know what to expect.”

Rhodes’ comments come one month after a report that Johnson had informed WWE that he’d be too busy to make WrestleMania due to his Hollywood commitments. Johnson himself refuted the claim with some choice language on his Instagram.

Rhodes has already teased an unexpected WrestleMania 41 main event, with fans eager at a potential singles showdown with The Rock. The two came face-to-face on the post-WrestleMania 40 Raw during which Rock vowed to return and come for The American Nightmare. The Rock fulfilled that promise at WWE Bad Blood 2024 following Rhodes and Roman Reigns’ win over The Bloodline.

Cody’s Invite To Steve Austin

Whether The Rock appears or not, another name fans could see next April is Steve Austin, who missed this year’s festivities in Philadelphia. During the interview, Rhodes hoped that the Rattlesnake will be around for WrestleMania 41.

“The invitation’s there. He’s also not far, I mean, we could helicopter him 3 hours away, Great American Bash style… I just would like him to be around to see how we’re doing…. I hope he’s proud of all of us because he really has set the table for us.”

Whether he’s in the ring or not, fans can expect The Rock to play a pivotal role in next year’s Showcase of the Immortals, while Rhodes intends to headline the event for the fourth time. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on Cody Rhodes and The Rock as their paths seem destined to cross next April in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dwayne Johnson Gifts Custom Bus to Watts Empowerment Center

WWE’s final boss and Hollywood A-Lister Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has once again shown his generous side by giving the kids at the LA Watts Empowerment Center a brand new bus. On Instagram, Johnson shared a video of the special gifts to the kids, many of whom have never left their neighborhoods or enjoyed a fun day at the beach.

The kids will be traveling in style in their custom-made bus to a cinema to see Johnson’s new movie Red One, as he also gifted them tickets with popcorn. The kids also received $100 gift cards as the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment’s generosity knows no bounds.

This isn’t the first time that Johnson has flexed his generous muscles as the ‘Final Boss’ is always ready to give to a good cause.

The Watts Empowerment Center in Los Angeles aims to help children, youth, and families within Watts Housing Projects. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Dwayne Johnson and his major moves, both in and out of the world of entertainment.

Samantha Irvin Hits Back At Claim She ‘Burned Bridges’ With WWE

Samantha Irvin’s unexpected departure from WWE took many by surprise, as have her comments about her views on ring announcing since her exit. This week, Irvin once again responded to a fan critical of what she’s had to say post-WWE and doesn’t believe she has ‘burned a bridge’ with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

Responding to an online commenter who said that Irvin and Ricochet have both burned bridges with WWE, Irvin said that she took to AI service Grok to find any proof of this.

Irvin later added that she tried to inject some personality into her role as a ring announcer with a comparison to the late comedy actor Robin Williams. Irvin believes those criticizing her now were hardly fans of her during her time with WWE which ended last month.

What Has Samantha Said?

Some online commentators have taken issue with Irvin’s post-WWE comments, but here is what she has actually said:

  • In her initial farewell statement, Irvin shared love for the WWE fans and those working in the company. She said that she was grateful to Triple H for trusting her in the ring announcer role and that she was “proud to have used my voice” as part of WWE.
  • Irvin later clarified a false report about when she notified WWE of her exit. While the report said she only told WWE mere hours before an episode of Raw, Irvin actually informed higher-ups months earlier.
  • Irvin later said she didn’t like announcing, and had initially seen the role as a way into other WWE performances like a manager or GM. Irin made clear that she loves watching WWE action.

Kurt Angle Laments WWE Wasting Baron Corbin After Retirement Match

Kurt Angle has voiced disappointment over WWE’s handling of Baron Corbin’s career after the Lone Wolf was victorious in Angle’s final match. Speaking to Wrestlezone, Angle didn’t hold back on his view that Corbin was wasted in WWE despite his WrestleMania 35 victory.

“For me, it makes me feel like I did that for nothing. It’s not like, ‘Screw you Angle’, but, it kinda is.”

Corbin’s win appeared to be a launching pad for the former NFL star, who would capture the King of the Ring crown that same year. Unfortunately, momentum quickly faded for Corbin, who slipped further and further down the card. Angle himself predicted that Corbin’s post-WrestleMania 35 season would see him reach new heights which never materialized.

“I thought they were gonna run with the kid, I thought they were gonna make him one of the top tier guys and he was on his way.”

Corbin’s career only began to pick up once more after a return to WWE NXT in 2023 which saw him win the NXT Tag Team Championships with Bron Breakker. This month, Corbin was informed that his WWE contract will not be renewed when it expires, ending his 12-year tenure which saw the promotion ‘fumble’ the former U.S. Champion.

The choice of Corbin as Angle’s final opponent was a controversial one at the time, with many hoping for John Cena or another classic rival from the Olympian’s past. Angle has said he wishes Cena had been his final opponent instead, as what WWE did with Baron Corbin left a lot to be desired according to the WWE Hall of Famer.

AEW to Run NYC’s Iconic Hammerstein Ballroom Next Month

AEW/Ring of Honor is set to take over the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom next month for a duo of exciting shows in the iconic venue. This week, it was reported that ROH Final Battle 2024 will take place from the Hammerstein Ballroom on December 20. Now, Andrew Zarian reports that the December 21, edition of AEW Collision will also take place from the venue inside the Manhattan Center.

Though this will be AEW’s first event in the venue, ROH is no stranger to the Hammerstein Ballroom. Seven of the 22 ROH Final Battle pay-per-views have been hosted from the Hammerstein Ballroom, more than any other location in the show’s 22-year history. Four events have taken place at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom.

Outside of ROH, the venue is known for hosting ECW’s final two pay-per-views, Massacre on 34th Street in December 2000 and Guilty as Charged the following year. It was only fitting that ECW One Night Stand 2005 and 2006 was hosted from the ballroom. In September 2010, TNA Wrestling hosted a show from the ballroom.

Now, AEW and Ring of Honor will join the promotions that have set foot in the venue. While no details have been confirmed for either Collision or Final Battle, fans can expect two huge nights in Manhattan, New York next month. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest from AEW Collision as the show prepares to land in the Hammerstein Ballroom.

How Australia’s Female Stars Paved The Way For Grayson Waller

Grayson Waller’s WWE career may have never been a reality had it not been for the success of the women from his native Australia. Speaking this week to Insight, Waller explained how, as a fan, there was very little representation of Australian talent to inspire a future in the ring.

“Nathan Jones fell over at WrestleMania! That’s who I wanted to be.”

Jones’ sole year on WWE’s main roster saw him win no titles and often play second-fiddle to talent like The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and A-Train. Waller later explained that it wasn’t until The IIconics gave a seminar post-joining WWE that he started to realize that he could make it.

“It didn’t seem like a possibility. But then, when I saw Peyton [Royce] and Billie [Kay] get on NXT, they’re from the same school as me. Then I was like ‘Oh wow.’ Then they come back to do a seminar, I think ‘It’s possible.'”

The IIconics may have shown Waller that a future in WWE was possible, but it was the work of Rhea Ripley who showed Grayson that his dreams could come true.

“Rhea’s the one who really cemented it. I’d met her just before she left [Australia.] And then she was doing such big things. I think she showed the rest of Australia ‘Hey, this is possible.’ And that opened the door. And then you’ve got Bronson [Reed.] You’ve got Indi [Hartwell.]”

Nowadays, Waller has cemented himself among WWE’s crop of Australian talent, which recently welcomed Zaria to WWE NXT. With the success of Elimination Chamber: Perth this past February, WWE clearly has a huge following ‘down under’ and don’t count out future Superstars coming from the country.

The Rock Reflects on WWE’s Evolution, WrestleMania 40, and Family Legacy

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is honored to remain a fixture of WWE today, and is proud that his family still has a place at the table of Sports Entertainment. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Red One and Moana 2, WWE’s resident Final Boss addressed how WWE has changed since he got his start.

“My grandfather and my dad used to wrestle up here at [Madison Square Garden] in the ‘70s, and here I come along, not trying to screw anything up with their legacy. Then all of a sudden, the business has grown into what it’s grown into. TKO now owns WWE, and I have the honor of sitting on the board of TKO. What a full-circle moment.”

Johnson also reflected on his return to WWE in 2024 and his leading role in WrestleMania 40 and the shows preceding the two-night spectacle.

“I had such a great time. Cody and Seth and Roman, it was just wild. I grew up in that world of pro wrestling. There’s nothing like when that music hits and the crowd goes crazy.”

When Fallon suggested that Johnson feels at home when he’s performing, the A-lister said it was a “good way to put it.”

It’s unclear when The Rock will return to WWE screens after his most recent appearance in the closing moments of Bad Blood 2024. That segment did make clear that The Rock is far from finished with Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns, who aligned on the night to defeat Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest from The Rock and his career both inside and outside the world of wrestling.

The Miz Returns on Raw, The Final Testament Lay Out The Wyatt Sicks

The Miz made an impactful return during the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, and was able to orchestrate a beatdown on The Wyatt Sicks. Recently, The Miz was kidnapped by the faction and was being questioned during last week’s show by Bo Dallas. The segment made reference to Bo’s time in the ‘Miztourage’ and Karrion Kross was confident that the A-Lister was “dead for sure.”

During this week’s Raw, Miz told Karrion Kross that he’d apologized and promised to change his ways and that was enough for the Wyatt Sicks to let him go. Kross did not believe him, and was going to have AOP break his legs in the ring before The Wyatt Sicks arrived.

Miz snuck up on Rowan, hitting him with a chair in the back, and revealing that this had been an ambush all along. Final Testament laid out Wyatt Sicks, but Uncle Howdy laughed through the pain.

The Final Testament and The Wyatt Sicks have been at odds for some time now, though Bo Dallas told The Miz that he was his group’s only target. Now, expect to see plenty more from these two factions on WWE TV, with The Miz firmly on the side of Karrion Kross, AOP, Paul Ellering, and Scarlett.

JBL Reveals Commentary’s NSFW Reaction to The Undertaker’s Streak Ending

WWE’s commentary team was just as shocked as the fans when Brock Lesnar conquered The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak in April 2014. Speaking to Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass, John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield shared just how in the dark everybody was on that fateful night in New Orleans.

“I just assumed the Undertaker was going to win, and so did Michael [Cole.] When Brock pins the Undertaker, Michael Cole says something to the effect of, ‘And the streak…’ He was going to say continues, is what he was going to say. Then we saw the three and Michael said, ‘has ended.’ He just looked at me, ‘What the f***.”

Layfield, who battled The Undertaker over the WWE Championship in 2004, admitted that while he was surprised, that only made his performance on the night better.

“All of a sudden we realize the streak has ended, then we saw the reaction and the crowd. Sometimes your reaction is so much better when you don’t know what’s out there.”

The match itself was an unfortunate send-off to The Undertaker’s streak with the Phenom suffering a concussion early into the contest that hampered his performance. Vince McMahon infamously left WrestleMania early after the match as the Deadman was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out. Many backstage were angry to see The Streak end the way it did, The Undertaker revealed a one-man-show last December.

Fans have debated for years as to whether The Streak should have ended, with some believing it never should’ve been broken. Others, however, believe that Lesnar’s legitimate fighting skills made him the perfect choice to end The Undertaker’s series of wins. Whichever way fans may feel, the end of The Streak was certainly a shock, both to the fans and those within WWE at the time.
