Vader “Real F–king Mad” At Diamond Dallas Page, DDP Responds

Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vader recently took to Twitter to comment on an issue with WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page. Page had reportedly reached out to Vader for him to come start working out at the DDP Yoga Training Center, but Vader isn’t happy with one of Page’s conditions.

That condition is that DDP wants Vader to stop wrestling in order to heal, but Vader says he must continue to pay the bills. Vader wrote on Twitter that he feels Page’s stipulation is “bulls–t” and that he’s “real f–king mad.”

Dallas gave a comment to Raj Giri of WrestlingInc.com that he is willing to help Vader, but it would be next to impossible for his program to be effective if Vader continues to do Vader Bombs.

“I can’t heal you with the program if you’re constantly continuing to beat up your body wrestling, the program wouldn’t have helped Jake [Roberts] or anyone else,” Page said. “I worked with Leon and he’s really beat up from all the years of football and wrestling. […] Anybody who knows me at all knows I would never turn anyone down to work with them at my PC, especially one of the boys. Leon just needs to return my call.”

Page currently operates the DDP Yoga Performance Center in Smyrna, Georgia.

WWE Announces New Cena Action Figure To Raise Money For Make-A-Wish (Video)

WWE issued a press release today announcing their partnership with Make-A-Wish, Mattel, and Toys’R’Us on a new John Cena action figure. The companies will donate a portion of the sales revenue to Make-A-Wish to help grant more wishes for sick children.

The special edition action figure will be produced my Mattel and available exclusively at Toys’R’Us stores beginning August 15th.

Here’s the press release from WWE:

Mattel®, Toys”R”Us® and WWE® Join Forces to Grant Wishes for Children with Critical Illnesses
PHOENIX (July 11, 2017) – Three national corporate sponsors of Make-A-Wish® are coming together to support the organization that grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Mattel®, Toys”R”Us® and WWE are partnering to launch a new John Cena action figure – available exclusively at Toys”R”Us stores nationwide beginning Tuesday, August 15. The presale for the limited-edition collectible begins today, July 11, online at Toysrus.com.

For every purchase of the action figure, Mattel will donate a portion of the proceeds to Make-A-Wish to support the wish granting efforts of the organization.

The figure features John Cena looking match-ready in red, white and blue, stars-and-stripes ring gear. The patriotic color scheme is the result of input from Alex, a Make-A-Wish kid from Los Angeles, Calif. Alex worked with the teams at Mattel and WWE to put his personal design on the new action figure. Alex is an example of the hundreds of wish kids who have wished to meet John Cena and have been forever changed as a result. Having granted more than 500 wishes to date, Cena is the most popular celebrity wish granter in Make-A-Wish history.

“Having the opportunity to meet Alex and witness first-hand his vision behind the action figure was an incredible experience,” said WWE Superstar John Cena. “There is nothing more humbling than a child who could ask for anything in the world asking to meet me, and I will continue to grant wishes as long as I am asked.”

“At Make-A-Wish, we have heard over and over again how wishes have the power to bring families and communities closer together for the better,” said David Williams, Make-A-Wish America president and CEO. “This is a case where wishes have inspired three of our sponsors to work collaboratively to bring the life-affirming nature of a wish to more wish kids, and we could not be more excited.”

In conjunction with the pre-sale of the action figure, now through Monday, July 31, Toys”R”Us will host a social media fundraising initiative benefitting Make-A-Wish America. For every retweet or share of the retailer’s #GivingIsAwesome posts, the company will donate $1 to the organization, up to $25,000.

Another fundraising opportunity will come in late August when five John Cena autographed action figures will be auctioned off to the public on eBay with 100% of revenue generated through the auction benefitting Make-A-Wish.

Mattel, Toys”R”Us and WWE each have a longstanding history with Make-A-Wish as corporate sponsors on a local and national level. Mattel, a national sponsor since 2007, has donated thousands of toys for wish activities and developed co-branded toy items with some of its most popular brands like Hot Wheels® and Barbie®. Toys”R”Us regularly donates toys and gift cards for shopping sprees in addition to providing annual grants from the Toys”R”Us Children’s Fund – leading to more than $3.5 million in donations in nearly 20 years. In addition to providing monetary support, WWE has granted thousands of wishes to meet Superstars as well as donated event tickets since the early 1980s.

He calls out Styles, Lesnar, Nakamura, Rollins, Reigns and others, saying you can line ’em up and he will knock them all down. Cena says he’s a man with nothing to lose, the champ is back, and it couldn’t be on a better day because today is our Independence Day. With that, Rusev interrupts, also making his return to TV. Rusev says while Cena was off doing his movie, Rusev was working so hard that he got injured. Rusev is upset that he didn’t get comeback commercials like Cena did. Rusev says Cena won’t take his opportunities away from him, and Cena’s American dream is a lie just like America is a joke. Referee Breaks Silence On Controversial WCW Starrcade 1997 Finish

WCW Starrcade 1997 marked the payoff of a year-long feud between Sting and Hollywood Hulk Hogan. It was WCW’s highest-grossing pay-per-view ever, but the finish to their main event bout left some fans confused.

The match was supposedly booked to finish with a worked screwjob in Hogan’s favor, featuring referee Nick Patrick counting a pin fall too quickly. Patrick ended up counting the pin at a normal pace, resulting in the appearance that Hogan had beaten Sting cleanly and a deviation from the plan. Bret Hart then ran down and claimed the finish was a screwjob, and restarted the match with Sting winning after the restart.

20 years later, Nick Patrick has broken his silence on the confusion. On Dave Penzer’s Sitting Ringside podcast, Patrick blamed the situation on backstage miscommunications and tensions.

“What happened was two people, Sting and Hulk, they were the two franchise guys and the two franchise guys were butting heads at that point in time,” Patrick said. “One guy came up to me and told me to fast-count it to get some heat and give him an out, and the other guy said ‘Don’t fast count it. Keep it nice and slow.’

“So the person that was in charge evidently didn’t want to make a call, didn’t want to pick a side, and made themselves scarce all night long to where I couldn’t find them to ask them ‘Hey, what do you want me to do?’”

Patrick went on to work for WWE after their purchase of WCW in 2001. He remained on the WWE referee crew until his release in August of 2008 after more than six months of inactivity due to a chronic back injury.

There is a lot of great talent right now. I would love to be able to mix it up with them. Hopefully, eventually it will happen down the line.”

Angle last wrestled for WWE in 2006, and he says the company has improved how they cater to the talent since then, which leads to a happier roster.

“There are so many things they do now,” he said. “They have a masseuse there all day. Catering goes all day and night; not just one meal a day. It’s a better atmosphere for the talent, and I think that is a great thing. The atmosphere is great. The talent there is no negativity. Everyone wants to work together. It’s a good crew. I also have to say it’s one of the most talented crews I’ve ever seen.”

Angle added that he’s honored to follow in the footsteps of Goldberg, Sting, The Ultimate Warrior and others as the pre-order character for the new WWE video game.

WWE SmackDown Live Results & Discussion (6/27)

The June 27th, 2017 edition of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA.

    – SmackDown opens up with GM Daniel Bryan coming out to the ring and asking the crowd if they’re ready for a great night tonight. Bryan says he’s proud of the evolution of the women’s division on SmackDown, and he promotes Naomi vs. Lana for the Women’s title, and then the Money In The Bank rematch. Carmella interrupts and says she should still have the Money In The Bank briefcase, and Daniel Bryan has no right to take it from her. Daniel Bryan asks the crowd if they think he should cancel the match and give Carmella the briefcase back, and they boo. The crowd chants “Yes” for the Money In The Bank rematch tonight, which prompts James Ellsworth to interrupt. Ellsworth says the fans make him sick and they are the villains, controlling their “stupid puppet” Daniel Bryan. Ellsworth says Bryan is just as pathetic as the fans, and he no longer looks up to Bryan. Ellsworth says Bryan isn’t a man now, he’s a gutless, spineless, coward who has no grapefruits to cut it in the ring so he made up a hokey injury. Bryan says he should just fire Ellsworth, but tonight it’s not about him it’s about the real wrestlers of SmackDown. Bryan says not only is he going to ban Ellsworth from ringside, but he’s banned from the entire arena. Security comes down and forcibly removes Ellsworth. Bryan wishes Carmella good luck tonight then leaves.

    – The Hype Bros are shown backstage getting ready to come out to the ring.

The Usos def. The Hype Bros: If The Hype Bros win, they get a shot at The Usos’ tag title. Mojo clotheslines Jey to the outside early on, then tags in Ryder who hits a suicide dive onto both Usos at ringside. On the way back in the ring, Jey boots Ryder in the face to take control of things. We cut to commercial, and when we come back we see Jimmy Uso get the victory with a frog splash off the top rope. After the match, The New Day comes down the ramp. They cut a promo saying they’re proud of The Usos for winning a match instead of running away from it. Big E starts to cut Booker T’s classic “Hulk Hogan, we comin’ for you…” promo, but Xavier cuts him off. The New Day and The Usos get into a rhyming battle which ends with The New Day’s music hitting and the Usos walking away.

    – Tamina is backstage warming up for later tonight.

    – In the latest edition of The Fashion Files, Tyler Breeze and Fandango have The Ascension in an interrogation room. Orton says he wants a rematch for the WWE Title, and if he doesn’t get it he’s going to beat the hell out of Jinder Mahal in the locker room, the parking lot, the airport, then all over again next week. Orton gets ready to head to the back to look for Jinder, but he’s interrupted by Shane McMahon. Shane steps in the ring and tells Orton that they’re live and they can’t have Orton threatening the safety of the WWE Champion. Orton says he doesn’t care if he gets arrested or sued because Jinder disrespected his family and he has to pay the consequences. Orton asks Shane to make it easy and give him a rematch, instead of taking the hard way. Shane points out that The Singh Brothers crossed the line, but that Orton had used the same tactics in the past against Shane’s own family. Shane says he knows how Orton feels and gives him the rematch at the Battleground pay-per-view. Shane says the stipulation will be chosen by Jinder Mahal. Orton says he doesn’t care what the stipulation is because the WWE Title is coming back to him, which prompts Jinder Mahal to come out to the stage to interrupt. Jinder says Orton is a snake and isn’t worthy of a rematch. Jinder says something in his native language about Orton, which prompts the crowd to chant “USA.” Jinder says the crowd is prejudice, and that for his stipulation he will take inspiration from The Great Khali.
