Report: Hardy Brothers Likely To Re-Sign With Impact Wrestling

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2arWcLLst4

As previously noted, Drew Galloway and the Hardy brothers’ Impact Wrestling contracts are expiring soon. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, none of them have signed new deals with Anthem Sports as of this week. WWE does have interest in Matt and Jeff Hardy, and with the company expanding in the UK they may have interest in Galloway again.

Dave Meltzer reports that The Hardys will likely stay with Impact Wrestling, where they can have a guaranteed contract that gives them creative control, and full control of their outside bookings. Matt Hardy’s outside bookings have increased substantially since his Broken character took off. The travel schedule is also much lesser with Impact Wrestling.

Galloway has reportedly gotten offers from outside of Impact Wrestling, but indicated on a recent edition of Jim Ross’ Ross Report podcast that he was planning to sign a new Impact deal soon.

Sean Waltman Tells Fan Involved In Randy Orton Gym Incident To “Go F— Yourself”

As noted this week, Randy Orton was involved in an altercation with a fan named Anthony Martin at a gym in Arkansas. Martin spoke to the media after the incident, and former WWE star Sean “X-Pac” Waltman took issue with how Martin handled the situation.

Waltman discussed the story on the latest edition of his X-Pac 1-2-360 podcast, and addressed people who thinks the wrestlers “owe” them something because they’re fans. Waltman started off his rant with some colorful language directed towards Martin.

“Anthony Martin, go f–k yourself! You know, I mean people have headphones on when they’re in the gym and other places for a reason – because they don’t want to f–king talk to anyone,” Waltman said. “I’m not trying to sound like a dick, but I know it’s coming off that way. But you know there’s these things called boundaries. They’re like an imaginary line and you f–king crossed it. Sorry! I know some people are thinking I’m the dick right now for saying it like that.”

Waltman added that apparently Martin thinks “he pays Randy Orton’s bills directly.” The former WWE Light Heavyweight Champion said that he’s grateful for all of the fans’ support, and fans would be grateful for wrestlers destroying their own bodies for their entertainment.

“Nobody owes anyone s–t, OK,” he said. “It’s all about gratitude, and I’m so grateful. But if somebody puts that in my face and tells me they pay my bills, f–k you.”

The Rock To Star In Two DC Comics Movies

Shazam!, the upcoming film from New Line and DC Comics, has now split into two separate films. Back in 2014 we reported that Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson would be playing Black Adam in the film, and now The Rock will also be starring in a film about his character, titled Black Adam. Shazam! is the story of a teenager who can transform himself into a superhero by saying “shazam.”

Black Adam is Shazam’s arch-nemesis, and during the pre-production phase of Shazam! the studio reportedly decided he should have his own film. Shazam! is scheduled to hit theaters in 2019, and there’s no word on a timetable, writer, or director for Black Adam yet.

The Rock wrote on Twitter this month that he’s going to help “usher in a new era” of DC Comics films.

WWE SmackDown Results & Discussion (1/17)

The January 17th edition of WWE SmackDown aired live on Tuesday on the USA Network from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN.

– The cage is hanging above the ring for tonight’s main event, and Shane McMahon is out first to make his announcement. Shane announces that there will be one more stop for the WWE Champion between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Shane reveals that the Elimination Chamber match is returning, and it’ll be for the WWE Championship. With that, AJ Styles comes out with his Title belt to interrupt. AJ complains about having to defend his title in an Elimination Chamber match. Shane says AJ is phenomenal, but his attitude isn’t. Cena interrupts next, but before he can finish his first sentence AJ interrupts and says SmackDown management is out to get him. The Miz interrupts next, with Maryse, and says he plans to walk out of WrestleMania as both the WWE Champion and the Intercontinental Champion. The Miz and AJ get in each other’s faces, with John Cena egging them on, and Shane makes a match.

– Back from commercial, Dean Ambrose is backstage asking Shane McMahon for a one on one match with Randy Orton. McMahon sets the match for later tonight.

AJ Styles vs. The Miz – No Contest: This one is a non-title match with John Cena on commentary. After some chain wrestling early-on, AJ takes control after a forearm to the face. AJ sets up on the apron for a springboard move, but Maryse distracts him and The Miz kicks AJ down to the ringside floor. Back in the ring, The Miz hits a flying clothesline in the corner then pokes AJ in the eye. Styles comes back with a Pele Kick that sends The Miz out to ringside. AJ follows him out and ends up shoving John Cena, which causes the referee to call for the bell. Cena chases Styles through the ring, then turns around and hits the Attitude Adjustment on The Miz. AJ attempts a Phenomenal Forearm on Cena, but Cena avoids it and hits the AA on Styles too.

– Nikki Bella comes out to the ring and calls out Natalya. Instead of coming to the ring, we see footage of Natalya elsewhere in the arena. Natalya walks up to a merchandise stand and complains that all the merchandise is for Nikki Bella, John Cena, and Bret Hart. Natalya starts tearing down their merchandise, then gets jumped by Nikki from behind and they go through a table together. They eventually get separated and are still yelling at each other.

Dean Ambrose def. Randy Orton: Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper are at ringside for this one. After some back and forth action in the opening minutes, Orton knocks Ambrose on top of the commentary table and Ambrose is selling his back. Back in the ring, Orton hits a spinning powerslam and goes for a top-rope superplex. Ambrose fights out and they go back down to the mat where Ambrose drops Orton with a lariat. Ambrose throws Orton outside and goes to follow up with a suicide dive, but Luke Harper pushes Orton out of the way and takes the suicide dive for him. Back in the ring, Orton hits a DDT and sets up for an RKO, but Luke Harper walks in the ring towards Ambrose. Orton and the referee convince Harper to leave the ring, but the distraction allows Ambrose to roll up Orton from behind for the win. After the match, Harper gets back in the ring and faces off with Orton. Bray pulls them apart and punches Harper across the face out of frustration. Harper blames Orton, and Bray gets in Orton’s face next. Harper leaves the ring first, with Orton and Wyatt heading backstage next.

– Becky Lynch cuts a promo backstage on Alexa Bliss and says Alexa won’t be leaving tonight with the Women’s Title belt.

– Jerry Lawler is in the ring for a “King’s Court” segment. He brings out Dolph Ziggler to discuss Ziggler’s attitude change, but Ziggler isn’t interested in talking. He shows Ziggler footage of last week, and Ziggler comes back with footage of him elbow dropping Lawler in 2012 before Lawler suffered a heart attack. Ziggler takes credit for Lawler’s heart attack and threatens to “finish the job” if Lawler doesn’t stop asking him questions. Lawler says that’s too bad because he has one more question: How’s it feel to know that no matter how many times he changes his attitude, he’ll always be a loser? Ziggler answers with a superkick and Lawler goes down. Ziggler walks away and JBL rolls in the ring to check on Lawler. Lawler yells at Ziggler to get back in the ring, if he has any guts. Ziggler declines and walks away.

– Bray Wyatt appears on the screen to announce that not only is the Wyatt Family entering the Royal Rumble, but Orton and Harper will compete in a singles match against each other next week to settle their dispute.

Alexa Bliss (c) def. Becky Lynch: This one is a cage match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. After a couple minutes of brawling, Becky attempts a powerbomb which Alexa grabs onto the cage to stop. Alexa hangs onto the cage and Becky follows her up the wall. They brawl on the wall of the cage until they both fall down to the mat simultaneously. Becky slams Alexa’s head into the cage wall then comes off the middle rope with a missile dropkick for a two count. Becky climbs to the top of the cage, but Alexa grabs her by the hair to pull her down. They stand on the top rope up against the cage wall fighting until Becky kicks Alexa onto the turnbuckle. Becky then gives Alexa a t-bone suplex off the middle rope for another two count. Becky locks Alexa in the Dis-arm-her, but gets distracted by La Luchadora standing in the cage door. Becky directs her attention back on Alexa, but then La Luchadora enters the ring and kicks Becky in the head. Alexa hits Becky with a DDT for the win, then celebrates with La Luchadora. They beat down Becky after the match, but Becky fights back. Becky rips the mask off La Luchadora to reveal that it’s Mickie James. Alexa and Mickie continue the beat-down on Becky and celebrate in the ring as SmackDown goes off the air.

Former Champion Rumored To Return On SmackDown Tonight

Mickie James scheduled to be at this week’s WWE SmackDown Live from Memphis and could be making her WWE television return as soon as tonight.

Mickie signed what was reported to be a 3-year deal with WWE back in December. It was reported that she would be debuting on SmackDown in January and that she was offered the deal due to her great match with Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Toronto in November.

There’s no confirmation on creative plans for Mickie but speculation is that she will be revealed to be the one behind the La Luchadora mask. Announced for this week’s SmackDown is Alexa Bliss defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch inside of a steel cage, which may be the perfect environment for La Luchadora to be revealed.

Discussion: Who would you like to see Mickie James enter a storyline with on SmackDown?

Preview For Tonight’s Episode Of WWE SmackDown (1/17)

The January 17th edition of WWE SmackDown airs live tonight on the USA Network from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN.

Two things WWE will likely follow up on from last week are the in-fighting in the Wyatt Family, and Dolph Ziggler’s attitude change. Also look for the latest in the feud between John Cena and AJ Styles, and for more angles and entrants to be lined up for the Royal Rumble on 1/29.

We’ll have live play-by-play SmackDown results and discussion tonight starting at 8 PM ET.

– Roman Reigns is out to the ring first to open up RAW, and the shark cage for Jericho at the Royal Rumble is up on the stage. Reigns starts talking about how no one can beat him in a fair fight right now, and on that note he’s interrupted by Paul Heyman. Heyman announces that Brock Lesnar is at RAW for the first time since Survivor Series, and says Goldberg isn’t here tonight. Heyman is then interrupted by Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, and then they are interrupted by Seth Rollins. Rollins warns everyone that “anything can happen in the main event of WrestleMania,” and then Rollins is interrupted by Braun Strowman. Strowman gets in Reigns’ face, then Brock Lesnar’s music hits and Lesnar comes out to the ring. As Lesnar is on the ramp, Sami Zayn hits the ring out of nowhere and jumps Strowman. All hell breaks loose in the ring, then Lesnar slides in and hits a German suplex on Reigns. It’s down to Lesnar and Zayn, and Lesnar gives Zayn a German suplex too. Lesnar dares Strowman to come at him, but Strowman backs away. As Lesnar watches Strowman walk away, Reigns comes in and hits a Superman punch on Lesnar. Reigns clears the other wrestlers off the aprons, then turns around into an F-5 from Lesnar.

The heels take control of the match in the opening minutes, with Rusev locking Enzo in a bear hug to slow things down. Enzo breaks free and hits a tornado DDT, then gets the hot tag to Big Cass. Mahal tags in too and Big Cass cleans house. Cass hits a fallaway slam on Cass then follows up with a splash and the Empire Elbow. Enzo throws Rusev outside then tags in, and Cass throws Enzo off the top rope for the Boom Shakalaka for the win.

Ariya Daivari def. Lince Dorado: Austin Aries and Jack Gallagher are on commentary for this one. Daivari controls the opening minutes of the match until he gets distracted talking trash to Gallagher, and Dorad makes a comeback. Daivari dodges a cross body off the top rope and comes back with a stiff clothesline. Daivari gets Dorado in the Cobra Clutch for the win via submission.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson def. Sheamus & Cesaro (c) via DQ: The Tag Team Titles are on the line in this one. Cesaro starts off against Anderson and hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, then he tags in Sheamus who hits a knee drop. Cesaro tags back in and hits a double foot stop on Anderson for a two count. Anderson comes back with a jumping kick to the face, then he tags in Gallows who goes to work on Cesaro. Cesaro comes back with some European uppercuts and a flying cross-body off the top rope onto Gallows on the floor at ringside. Back in the ring, Cesaro hits The Swing on Anderson then locks him in the Sharpshooter. As soon as he locks it in, Gallows breaks it up with a big boot to the face. All four men are in now in the ring and in the commotion Sheamus accidentally knocks out the referee. Gallows and Anderson knock Sheamus to the outside then hit the Magic Killer on Cesaro. Another referee comes out and counts to three, but as Gallows and Anderson are being congratulated, the original referee reverses the decision because Sheamus hit him. Sheamus and Cesaro have now been disqualified, which means they keep the Tag Titles. Gallows and Anderson freak out and hit the Magic Killer on Sheamus before leaving.

Big E def. Titus O’Neal: After some back and forth action early on, Titus takes control of the match with a variation of The Dominator on Big E. After a two count, Titus drops Big E with a powerslam then hits a running leg drop for another near-fall. Titus takes a little too much time to mock Big E, and Big E comes back with a belly to belly suplex. Big E follows up with a running splash, then hits The Big Ending for the win.

Cedric Alexander def. Cedric Alexander: Austin Aries is on commentary for this one. Cedric takes control early on after throwing Kendrick to the outside and hitting a springboard moonsault. Back in the ring, they trade chops to the chest until Kendrick drops him with an elbow to the face. Cedric hits back with an elbow of his own and a kick to the head. Cedric follows up with a springboard cross body off the top for a two count. Cedric goes for a back suplex but Kendrick reverses into the Captain’s Hook. Alicia Fox runs out to ring and tries to help Cedric reach the ropes. Cedric gets distracted by Alicia and Kendrick dropkicks Cedric from behind. It comes down to Strowman and Reigns, and Strowman clotheslines Reigns to the outside and stands tall in the ring. The match officially starts and after some back and forth action, Owens takes control against Sami Zayn. Strowman helps out with a cheap show on Zayn behind the ref’s back. Reigns gets the hot tag and tees off on Owens with a series of clotheslines. Reigns drops Owens with a big boot, then sets up for the Superman punch. Jericho grabs onto Reign’s leg from ringside until Rollins knocks Jericho down. Strowman then knocks Rollins down. Reigns goes for a Superman punch but Strowman hopped up on the apron and grabbed Reigns out of mid-air. Owens follows up with a superkick on Reigns for a two count. Rollins and Jericho get the tags and Rollins hits a Sling Blade to drop Jericho. Rollins follows up with a splash in the corner then a Blockbuster off the middle rope. Bruce Prichard On WWE Never Using The Rock’s Brahma Bull Title Belt, CM Punk’s Attitude

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKlEl72nJ64

Ex-WWE producer and Vince McMahon’s former “right-hand man” Bruce Prichard recently revealed why The Rock’s custom World Title belt never made it to TV. WWE had created a signature WWE World Title belt for The Great One, similar to Stone Cold’s “Smoking Skulls” belt, featuring The Rock’s “Brahma Bull” logo.

Prichard took fan questions on the latest episode of his Something to Wrestle With podcast, and he revealed that The Rock’s signature Title belt took so long to get made that by the time it was completed, The Rock already lost the Championship. The belt has been sitting in the WWE warehouse since then, and the company has never used it in front of an audience.

Prichard also talked about CM Punk’s departure from WWE, and joked that Punk sometimes generated more heat with WWE management than with the crowds. He said he always liked Punk, and feels that he’s a nice guy who sometimes carries himself like an “asshole.” Prichard called Punk an interesting guy and a “hell of a talent.”

WWE Issues Statement On Jimmy Snuka’s Death

As previously reported, WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka passed away on Sunday. Snuka had been diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer, and earlier this month murder charges against him were dropped due to his deteriorating health.

WWE issued the below statement on Sunday evening regarding Snuka’s death:

WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has passed away.

Snuka is regarded by many as the pioneer of high-flying offense because of his Superfly Splash from the top turnbuckle. His dive off the top of the steel cage onto Don Muraco at Madison Square Garden as hundreds of flash bulbs went off will forever live as one of the most memorable moments in WWE history.

WWE extends its condolences to Snuka’s family, friends and fans.

The WWE legend’s final years were his most controversial, as he faced charges for the mysterious death of Nancy Argentino at a motel in Pennsylvania in 1983. In 2015, 32 years after the incident, Snuka was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Snuka was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996, but he was removed from the Hall of Fame website and his WWE Legends contract was terminated following his 2015 arrest.

Jim Ross Predicts That Kenny Omega Will Stay In NJPW

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMvKJnqe2_M

On Jim Ross’ latest Ross Report podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer talked about the possibility of NJPW star Kenny Omega jumping ship to WWE. Omega is under contract to NJPW until 1/31, and Ross is confident that he’s on WWE’s radar.

Ross believes that WWE will try to recruit Omega from NJPW like they did with AJ Styles, but they may not be successful this time. The former WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations predicts that Omega will still be on the NJPW roster when they tour California in July.

“I think Kenny Omega will stick with [NJPW] right now,” Ross said. “But I also don’t know what type of full-court press WWE will do to make him not re-sign with New Japan at the end of January and give them the opportunity to get in the hunt.”

Ross also discussed the upcoming 30-man Royal Rumble match, and feels that the dynamic between Brock Lesnar, Bill Goldberg, and The Undertaker is going to make things interesting. The 2017 Royal Rumble takes place on 1/29 in San Antonio, TX. You can listen to his entire podcast at PodcastOne.com.

Report: Kurt Angle Not Booked For The Royal Rumble

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ruq7YxCTBbY

With the Royal Rumble around the corner and Kurt Angle reportedly telling promoters he’s returning to WWE, rumors have been circulating about the Olympic gold medalist being a surprise entrant in the 30-man Rumble match. According to a new report, those are just rumors as of right now.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that according to backstage sources in WWE, there have been no talks between the company and Angle regarding the Royal Rumble yet. While WWE could always call someone at the last minute for a surprise appearance, it doesn’t sound like the former WWE Champion will be at the Royal Rumble on 1/29 in San Antonio, TX.

According to The Observer, it’s more likely that Angle could appear at WrestleMania 33 on 4/2 in Orlando, FL. Meltzer reported in December that Angle was telling independent wrestling promoters he isn’t accepting any bookings in April because he’s returning to WWE.

If he returns, what would you like to see Kurt Angle do at WrestleMania 33? Comment with your thoughts & predictions!

Mark Hunt Files Lawsuit Against Brock Lesnar & UFC: “He’s A Cheater”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pD_7846GhM

The Nevada State Athletic Commission and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency have both issued their punishments to WWE star Brock Lesnar for a failed drug test prior to his UFC 200 fight against Mark Hunt. Now Hunt has officially filed a lawsuit against Lesnar, the UFC, and UFC President Dana White. Hunt’s lawsuit alleges that they “affirmatively circumvented and obstructed fair competition for their own benefit.”

“[UFC] had a chance to take all the money from this guy, because he’s a cheater, and they didnt,” Hunt told ESPN.com.

There is an option for the UFC to pay an extra fee in order to get the pre-fight tests back before fight day. Because the UFC didn’t take that option, the results from Lesnar’s failed test didn’t come in until after the fight. Hunt’s lawsuit states, “The UFC and USADA were aware of the option to expedite samples for a nominal fee but failed to do so.”

Lesnar tested positive for an anti-estrogen agent called clomiphene. It earned him a one year suspension and a $250,000 fine from the NSAC and a one year suspension by USADA, and his victory over Hunt was reversed to a no-contest. Lesnar was paid a $2.5 million purse, while Hunt was paid $700,000.

Lesnar, who is scheduled to appear on next Monday’s episode of RAW, will be eligible to return to the UFC after July 15th.

WWE RAW Results & Discussion (1/9)

The January 9th, 2017 edition of WWE RAW aired live from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

– Stephanie McMahon is backstage with Mick Foley giving him a performance review. Stephanie expresses concern that Foley will let the fans down by promising The Undertaker will show up tonight. Stephanie says she’s concerned ‘Taker won’t show up, then Seth Rollins interrupts to say he’s entering the Royal Rumble match. Braun Strowman interrupts next and says he wants Goldberg or Roman Reigns, or else. Rollins gets in Strowman’s face for interrupting him and the two men start brawling all over the room until they’re separated by referees. The segment ends with Foley promising Stephanie that Undertaker will be here tonight.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho – No Contest: This one is a handicap match with Roman Reigns’ U.S. Championship on the line. Before the bell rings, Braun Strowman’s music hits and he comes out to the ring. Strowman and Reigns get into it and Strowman ends up dropping the U.S. Champion. Jericho and Owens get in on the action and hold Reigns back for Strowman to kick him. All three of them take turns stomping on Reigns until Seth Rollins runs out with a chair for the save. Rollins throws the chair at Strowman and hits a Van Daminator, then drops Owens and Jericho with it. Reigns grabs a chair and joins Rollins in beating down Strowman with them. Stephanie McMahon comes out to sort things out. She says Reigns’ match is going to take place later tonight so Reigns can recover from Strowman’s interference. Stephanie also books Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman in a match tonight.

Seth Rollins vs. Braun Strowman: Strowman controls the opening minutes of the match until Rollins hits a series of clotheslines and kicks. Rollins goes for a running knee strike, but Strowman catches him and plants him down on the mat with a spinebuster. Rollins rolls out to the apron for a breather, then Strowman hits a running shoulder-block that sends Rollins to the floor at ringside. Back in the ring, Rollins comes back with some kicks and knees to the head. Rollins follows up with a frogsplash off the top, but Strowman kicks out with authority at the two count. Strowman rolls outside and Rollins climbs to the very top of the ring post. Rollins goes flying off for a splash on Strowman, but Strowman moves and Rollins crashes into the fan barricade. Strowman beats Rollins down around ringside until the referee counts them both out at 10. After the match, Strowman attempts to continue beating down Rollins, but Rollins grabs a chair and fights him off.

– Sasha Banks is backstage giving Bayley some words of encouragement. Charlotte and Nia Jax show up and attack them both, leaving Banks and Bayley on the ground. Jax turns on Charlotte and shoves her up against the wall before leaving.

Jack Gallagher def. Drew Gulak: Austin Aries is on commentary for this one. After some solid back-and-forth action to open up, Gallagher does a headstand on the turnbuckle and lowers his boot whenever Gulak attempts to charge at him. Gulak hesitates in confusion, which leads to Gallagher tossing him across the ring and hitting a running heel kick in the corner for the win. After the match, Gallagher cuts a promo on Daivari.

– We see a shot of Shawn Michaels backstage talking to TJ Perkins before the commercial break.

– Backstage, Mick Foley tells Stephanie McMahon that The Undertaker will be here tonight for sure. Stephanie says that his entire performance review hinges on his ability to bring in The Undertaker tonight, and he has one hour to do it.

– WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is out next. Michaels says he misses the fans, and says desire to appear tonight might have something t do with the Royal Rumble being around the corner. Michaels points out that the Rumble this year is in his hometown of San Antonio, TX. Michaels recalls winning the WWE Championship 20 years ago in San Antonio. The crowd starts chanting for “one more match.” Michaels tells the crowd not to peer pressure him, and says he’s here to discuss his new movie The Resurrection Of Gavin Stone. As he continues to promote the movie, he gets interrupted by Rusev, Lana, and Jinder Mahal. Rusev tells Michaels to shut up, and says he should have put Lana in the movie if he wanted it to be successful. Rusev demands that Michaels uses CGI to put Lana in the already-completed movie. The crowd chants for “sweet chin music” but Rusev tells the crowd Shawn doesn’t do that anymore. Rusev calls himself the Bulgarian George Clooney, and demands that Michaels puts his wife in the movie. Enzo and Cass interrupt to back up Michaels. Enzo says Michaels is the realest guy in the room right now, and calls Rusev, Mahal and Lana haters. They make fun of Rusev until he interrupts and calls them “American pigs.” Cass challenges Rusev to a match right. Rusev says he’s got a match, but it’s against Jinder Mahal. Michaels says he’s going to stay at ringside for this match, and if they’re not down with that he’s got two words for them.

Big Cass def. Jinder Mahal: Mahal takes control of the match early on with a series of clotheslines and kicks. Cass mounts a comeback and hits a big splash on MAhal in the corner. Rusev tries to interfere but Michaels drops him with the Sweet Chin Music at ringside. Cass hits the East River Crossing and follows up with the Empire Elbow for the win after a short match. Enzo and Cass celebrate with Shawn Michaels after the bell.

Neville def. Lince Dorado: Austin Aries is on commentary for this one. Dorado springboards off the ropes and hits a variation of the Stone Cold Stunner on Neville, then hits a hurricanrana and sends Neville outside. Back in the ring, Dorado comes off the top rope with a cross body splash for a two count. Neville comes back with a Northern Lights suplex, then starts working on Lince’s left arm. Lince goes for a Frankensteiner, but Neville catches him and reverses into a variation of the Death Valley Driver. Neville follows up with the Rings of Saturn and Lince taps out. After the match, Neville beats down Dorado until Rich Swan cos out for the save. Swan hits Neville with a series of kicks, causing Neville to retreat to the back.

– Backstage, Stephanie McMahon gives Bayley and Sasha Banks a match against Charlotte and Nia Jax next week. Stephanie gets in Sasha’s face, and tells her she’s the real boss on RAW and to get the hell out of her office.

Sheamus def. Luke Gallows: Cesaro and Karl Anderson are both on commentary for his one. Gallows controls the opening moments of the match, but Sheamus comes back with a running Senton and follows up with a running knee drop. They brawl around ringside before heading back in the ring, where Gallows hits a big boot on Sheamus that sends him back out to ringside. Back in the ring, Sheamus and Gallows trade right hands until Sheamus drops him with a kick. Gallows fights back with a knee to the head, but Sheamus comes back with one of his own. Sheamus goes up top and hits a flying clothesline for a two count. Gallows goes for a Samoan Drop but Sheamus gets out and hits a running powerslam for a two count. Karl Anderson attacks Cesaro at the announce table and Sheamus gets distracted. Gallows hits a big boot on Sheamus off the distraction for a two count. Meanwhile on the stage, Anderson and Cesaro continue brawling which leads to Gallows getting distracted. He turns around into a big boot from Sheamus, and Sheamus scores the 3 count.

– Mick Foley comes out and pleads with The Undertaker to come out to the ring. The lights go out briefly, but it’s just Stephanie McMahon, who comes out to the ring and says she’s going to give Foley his performance review right now in public. Stephanie admonishes Foley for some of his failures including allowing SmackDown to beat them in the ratings. Foley starts to apologize, but then the lights go out again and The Undertaker’s music hits. Taker grabs the mic and announces that he’ll be entering the Royal Rumble, and we immediately get a shot of Braun Strowman watching on a monitor backstage. Taker declares that after he wins the Royal Rumble, he’ll return to the main event at WrestleMania, and anyone who stands in his way will rest in peace.

Nia gets the tag and hits a Snake Eyes on Bayley in the corner, then follows up with a splash. Charlotte tags back in and hits a Northern Lights suplex on Bayley. Nia tags in behind Bayley’s back then clotheslines her down and follows up with a running leg drop for the win.

– We see Noam Dar backstage bothering Alicia Fox again. Alicia grabs him and kisses him dramatically, then says he couldn’t handle her and walks off.

– The New Day and Titus O’Neal are in the ring, and Titus apologizes for last week. He asks for another chance to join The New Day. Kofi says they did some research on Titus, and they show a video from him on NXT tripping while running with a beer keg. Instead of a chance to join the New Day, they say they’re going to offer him a chance at redemption. They reveal a beer keg at ringside, and give him another chance to run with it. They set a timer at 12.7 seconds, and Titus gears up to run around the ring with the beer keg. Titus runs around the ring with the keg with 0.6 seconds to spare, but he dropped the keg in celebration right before he ran across the line. The referee says it didn’t count because he dropped the keg. They show the replay, and show Titus celebrating too early and dropping it before the finish line. Titus shoves Kofi, so Kofi challenges him to a match right now.

Kofi Kingston def. Titus O’Neal: Titus takes control of the match early on and hits a variation of The Dominator on Kofi. Titus powerslams Kofi down to the mat then keeps him grounded with a chin lock. Kofi fights back, but Titus drops him again with a big boot for a two count. They exchange slaps to the face then Kofi kicks him in the face. Titus grabs kofi and hits a series of backbreakers across the knee. Titus gets distracted by Xavier playing the trombone at ringside, so he throws Kofi to the outside but the New Day members catch him. Kofi slides back in the ring and hits the Trouble In Paradise on Titus for the win.

Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens def. Roman Reigns: Before the bell, Owens and Jericho brawl with Reigns on the ramp. The shark cage is on the sage, and Reigns tries to lock Jericho in it but Owens makes the safe. They throw Reigns into the side of the cage and the cage falls off the stage. The heels take Reigns back to ringside where they throw him into the steel ring steps. The finally get in the ring and bell sounds. Jericho and Owens control the opening moments of the match until Reigns comes back with a series of clotheslines. Reigns misses a Superman punch on Jericho and goes right into a punch from Owens. Jericho hits a Lionsault on Reigns for two. It looks like Jericho is bleeding from his forehead. Owens tags in and hits a superkick on Reigns. Owens and Reigns attempt to double team Reigns, but Reigns ends up hitting a Superman punch on each one of them. Reigns hits a spear on Jericho but Owens breaks up the pin. Reigns misses a dropkick on Owens and Owens follows up with a superkick. Owens attempts to powerbomb Reigns at ringside, but Reigns reverses into a back body drop then hits the Drive-By. Jericho goes for a springboard dropkick, but Reigns hits a superman punch on him. Jericho comes back with a Codebreaker, then Owens takes Reigns out to ringside and powerbombs him onto the corner of the ring apron. Back in the ring, Jericho hits the Codebreaker on Reigns and scores the three count. Chris Jericho is now the new United States Champion. Jericho and Owens celebrate with the U.S. and Universal Title Belts as referees check on Reigns in the corner.

Rumored Storyline Plans For Charlotte Flair’s Feud With Bayley

On Monday’s RAW, Bayley became the new #1 contender for Charlotte’s Women’s Championship by defeating Nia Jax. According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bayley is in line for a big push.

Bayley is reportedly penciled in to win the Women’s Championship from Charlotte at WrestleMania in April. Bayley’s first title shot is at the Royal Rumble later this month, so it looks like their feud will be lasting at least a few months. The plan is reportedly for Bayley to continually be screwed over by Charlotte in order to keep Bayley’s babyface heat growing.

Unless there’s a change of plans, this means Charlotte will retain the Women’s Title at the Royal Rumble, even if it means losing the match via DQ or count out.

The 2017 Royal Rumble takes place on January 29th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Coachman Says Ronda Rousey Isn’t Mentally Tough Enough For WWE

Former WWE personality and current ESPN anchor Jonathan Coachman recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio to explain his prediction that WWE will never being in Ronda Rousey. Coachman previously went on Twitter and told a fan that she would have “no chance” in WWE after losing in such dramatic fashion at UFC 207. Coachman questioned on Busted Open Radio what WWE could do with Rousey at this point, and says professional athletes’ worth is directly tied to their success in their sport.

“When she lost, not only was she devastated, but she admitted that some thoughts that went through her head were not good ones,” Coachman said of Rousey. “Hopefully, she understands that she’s gone much further than almost any female in really sports in the last 15 years. […] As far as WWE is concerned, they don’t bring in, and I refer to her as a broken star, because that’s what she is, she’s broken from a professional sense.”

Coachman says during his time with WWE he witnessed them only hiring people who fit a certain mental profile, and that they don’t “rebuild broken celebrities.” The Coach says Rousey doesn’t fit the bill, and indicated that he doesn’t think she’s WWE material.

“They go after, if you’re bringing in somebody from the outside, they go after people with a certain type of makeup and Ronda Rousey showed all of us that, how she responded to a loss, showed a lot about what she’s made of,” Coachman said. “I’m not saying that’s good, I’m not saying that’s bad, I’m just saying as far as the kind of person you want to go after and build a program around, to bring her in the WWE and build up this perception of what her reality is not, you can’t do that. And you can’t disappear, guys, for 13 months from the fight game and then come back and expect all of us to think you’re going to be as nasty as you were before.”

Coachman is referring to Rousey telling the press that she was suicidal after her November 2015 loss to Holly Holm. The Coach added that Rousey “lost two movies” last year because of her loss.

SiriusXM’s Busted Open airs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons on channel 93.

Brock Lesnar Officially Receives The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s Punishment

Brock Lesnar has already received his punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and now it’s time for him to answer to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

Lesnar tested positive for banned substances before his fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200 back in July. Lesnar originally won the fight via unanimous decision, but that was reserved to a no-contest after the failed test results came in.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Lesnar for a year and fined him $250,000, and now USADA has announced that they’re matching the NSAC’s suspension. USADA, the official anti-doping partner of UFC, issued a press release this week announcing their one-year suspension. Lesnar’s NSAC suspension is for a year from July 9th, and the USADA suspension is for a year from July 15th.

Below is USADA’s complete press release about Lesnar:

“USADA announced today that UFC athlete, Brock Lesnar, of the Brooklyn Park, M.N., received a one-year sanction, pursuant to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, after testing positive for a prohibited substance on two occasions.

“Lesnar, 39, tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite, 4-hydroxyclomiphene, following an out-of-competition urine test conducted on June 28, 2016, and an in-competition urine test conducted on July 9, 2016, at UFC 200 in Las Vegas, Nev. Clomiphene is a prohibited substance in the category of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators and is prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the WADA Prohibited List.

“Lesnar’s one-year period of ineligibility began on July 15, 2016, the date on which he was provisionally suspended by USADA, and is identical in length to the sanction imposed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on December 15, 2016. In addition, the NSAC overturned Lesnar’s victory at UFC 200 to a no-contest.

“Pursuant to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, all UFC athletes serving a period of ineligibility for an anti-doping policy violation are required to remain in the USADA registered testing pool and make themselves available for testing in order to receive credit for time served under his or her sanction. Furthermore, if an athlete retires during his or her period of ineligibility, the athlete’s sanction will be tolled until such time the athlete notifies USADA of his or her return from retirement and once again makes him or herself available for no-advance-notice, out-of-competition testing.

“USADA conducts the year-round, independent anti-doping program for all UFC athletes. USADA is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental agency whose sole mission is to preserve the integrity of competition, inspire true sport, and protect the rights of clean athletes. In an effort to aid UFC athletes, as well as their support team members, in understanding the rules applicable to them, USADA provides comprehensive instruction on the UFC Anti-Doping Program website regarding the testing process and prohibited substances, how to obtain permission to use a necessary medication, and the risks and dangers of taking supplements as well as performance-enhancing and recreational drugs. In addition, the agency manages a drug reference hotline, Drug Reference Online, conducts educational sessions, and proactively distributes a multitude of educational materials, such as the Prohibited List, easy-reference wallet cards, and periodic athlete alerts.”

Homicide Charges Against Jimmy Snuka Dropped

Murder charges against Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka have been dropped. According to The Morning Call, a Lehigh County judge dismissed criminal charges against the WWE Hall of Famer this week in relation to the death of his girlfriend Nancy Argentino in 1983.

The decision was reportedly made after Judge Kelly L. Banach reviewed Snuka’s medical records. Snuka has been diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and isn’t expected to live beyond six months. The judge ruled that due to Snuka’s poor health, he can’t be tried until his condition improves — if it improves.

Snuka’s attorney Robert Kirwan told The Morning Call that “the medical evidence showed that he was not getting better, and in fact he’s getting worse.” Argentino was just 23 when she died in ’83, and her sister said that she thinks Snuka’s incompetency defense is a “total act.”

Snuka is accused of repeatedly assaulting Argentino at a motel in Pennsylvania and then leaving her in their room to die. Argentino had a skull fracture, which Snuka reportedly told a 911 operator happened outside the motel room when she hit her head on the ground while “fooling around.”
