Update On Shawn Michaels’ Role At The WWE Performance Center

Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman were guests on the latest edition of the Kevin Gill Show podcast, where Nash broke some news about fellow Kliq member Shawn Michaels. During the interview, Nash implied that Michaels is now one of the top trainers at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

“[Michaels] is moving to Florida with his family and everything,” Nash said. “If you thought that NXT was something wait til that son of a bitch gets down there and gives them his magic.”

Nash said there is “nobody better” than Michaels when it comes to in-ring work and psychology, and says the fellow Hall of Famer joining the Performance Center staff will be a “game changer.”

Michaels has already been working as a trainer at the Performance Center, but former WWE Superstar Matt Bloom (Albert/A-Train, Tensai) is still in charge.

  • WWE To Cut Back On Number Of Pay-Per-Views In 2017

WWE To Cut Back On Number Of Pay-Per-Views In 2017

It sounds like changes are coming to WWE’s pay-per-view schedule starting next year.

According to a report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE will be cutting back on the amount of pay-per-view events they host. This is reportedly in-part due to declining WWE Netwok subscription numbers. There’s no word on exactly how many or which events will be cut, but the company will reportedly be removing a “few” pay-per-views from the schedule.

By the end of 2016, WWE will have produced 15 PPV events this year, not including 5 other Network-exclusive events.

This Week’s SmackDown Viewership Down Against U.S. Election Coverage

Shane McMahon On Survivor Series Addition, Why Lebron James Snubbed Undertaker In Cleveland

    – As noted earlier, on Tuesday’s SmackDown there was an injury storyline with Baron Corbin that pulled him from Team SmackDown for Survivor Series. He was replaced with SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon who will now wrestle at the November 20th pay-per-view instead of Corbin. McMahon wrote the following on Twitter to promote the news:

    – As noted last month, The Undertaker appeared at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ NBA Championship ring ceremony in his full wrestling gear. Undertaker was accompanied by Dana Warrior and her kids, and his wife Michelle McCool. He met with several NBA stars, but not Lebron James, who famously wore an Undertaker t-shirt during the NBA Finals. Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com recently addressed fan questions about why Lebron James didn’t meet with ‘Taker, saying that Lebron may have purposely avoided the photo op.

Vardon noted that if someone who isn’t a personal friend of James doesn’t have an appointment with him, the chances of meeting him before or after a game are slim. Vardon added that James is wary of companies purposefully trying to attain money or press through him. Vardon said that James wearing an Undertaker t-shirt was “enough” for James.

James Ellsworth Speaks On His WWE Contract Status & Interactions With Vince McMahon

James Ellsworth was recently interviewed for the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast and he shed some light on his future with WWE. When asked if WWE will be offering him a full-time contract, Ellsworth said he’s been hearing whispers about it but isn’t “counting his chickens before they hatch.”

“I don’t know what the future holds, I hope it’s bright,” Ellsworth said. “I’m having the time of my life and am thankful for every opportunity that [WWE] gives me. I am learning so much just being there and it has been such a blast, and everything has been going so well that I hope to be there in the WWE as James Ellsworth until I’m about 75 years old.”

Ellsworth has had limited access to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, but when he does cross paths with Vince he makes sure to ask for feedback. Ellsworth explains that every week after SmackDown ends, he approaches Vince to ask “hey, sir, how did I do?” Ellsworth says Vince has given him “nothing but great feedback” thus far.

“I don’t get to speak to him for an extended amount of time. It’s literally I walk up to him and ask if I do okay and is everything was good?” Ellsworth explained. E”very week he’s said ‘good job kid’ and ‘see you next week.’ That’s what it’s been every week and coming from him it means the world because he is the man. He is the main guy in this profession. He’s the top guy that nobody is over, and I have so much respect for him and what he has done with Sports Entertainment. It is just cool to get that little conversation with him every week but I always make sure to go to him and I always will no matter what.”

  • Details On What Started Jericho-Sin Cara Fight & Which Superstar Was Kicked Off WWE’s Tour Bus

Details On What Started Jericho-Sin Cara Fight & Which Superstar Was Kicked Off WWE’s Tour Bus

On late Monday morning some new light was shed on the real-life altercation between Chris Jericho and Sin Cara during WWE’s European tour. According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Sin Cara was to blame for starting the incident and was kicked off WWE’s tour bus for his actions.

Meltzer reports that the fight between Jericho and Cara occurred on the tour bus while the RAW crew was traveling from Leeds to Glasgow. Cara was allegedly being loud and annoying the other WWE workers on the bus, which prompted several people to tell him to stop. When he didn’t stop, Jericho apparently told Cara to stop in a more aggressive manner than before. In response, Cara told Jericho to “f*** off,” and more heated words were exchanged between the two. Cara reportedly threw a right hand at Jericho before others jumped up and pulled them apart. During the scuffle, Jericho reportedly grabbed Cara’s hand and began biting one of his fingers.

One witness says it appeared that Cara snapped without warning or good reason, and he was kicked off the WWE tour bus as a result. Before Cara was kicked off the bus, Jericho was apparently yelling at him that he won’t be working for WWE much longer because of his actions.

Report: Chris Jericho Bit Sin Cara During Backstage Altercation

More details are coming out about Chris Jericho and Sin Cara’s backstage altercation this weekend during WWE’s European tour. While the cause of the friction between the two has yet to be revealed, PWInsider.com now reports that the backstage fight escalated quickly from a heated conversation to punching and biting.

According to PWInsider, Sin Cara (real name Jorge Arias, aka Hunico) threw the first blow when he struck Jericho in the head with a punch. The two were quickly pulled apart, but not before Jericho allegedly bit Sin Cara. The version of the story PWInsider heard also has Jericho yelling at Cara after the fight, telling Cara he’ll likely get fired for hitting him. As previously noted, Jericho stated that he wasn’t knocked out in the fight as one source claimed.

Neither men are strangers to backstage altercations. Sin Cara has reportedly gotten the better of Simon Gotch and Sheamus in real-life fights in the past, and Jericho famously stepped to the much physically-larger Brock Lesnar and Goldberg on separate occasions.

The story of Jericho and Cara’s altercation is already receiving media attention from outlets like The Sun and the International Business Times.

Jericho fired back, calling @MLW “stupid idiots” and accusing them of “shoddy, uninformed journalism.” Jericho claimed that he “hasn’t been knocked out since 1994.”

There’s no word on what caused the fight of if either performers will be disciplined by WWE management.

Former WWE Champion and Chicago native CM Punk is getting some mainstream media coverage for some verbal shots he directed towards three-time NBA Champion Lebron James.

During a World Series victory parade for the Chicago Cubs, Punk appeared on CSN Chicago to comment on his local team’s championship win. Punk took the opportunity to voice his displeasure with Lebron James, and accused the Cleveland Cavaliers Forward of being a bandwagon fan.

“He’s a guy who was criticized because maybe six months ago he was at a [Cleveland] Indians game wearing a Yankees hat, and he’s proud of it — taking it off and showing everybody,” Punk said. “Wearing a New York Yankees hat while going to an Indians game, to me, is kind of crazy. Now all-of-a-sudden Lebron James is all ‘Cleveland against the world,’ and I think he maybe jinxed his team a little bit.”

  • Santino Marella Speaks On His Release From WWE & A Possible Return

Former WWE star Santino Marella recently spoke to Main Event Radio about his release from the company this summer, and if he’ll return to either RAW or SmackDown. Santino explained that WWE had an option to extend his contract while he was out with his injury, but decided not to and let his original deal expire.

“It was a weird day,” Santino said of his release from WWE. “I was about to leave on a trip to Florida with my wife and I saw the office calling. That was it, the run came to an end. It was liberating though, life after WWE here we go,”

He said that the company treated him and his family well, and that there were talks of him taking on a regular non-wrestling role. Santino says that fans approach him in public all the time to say WWE “isn’t the same without” him. Santino says fans related to him from his debut storyline where he came from the crowd as an underdog.

“I was the real people’s champion,” he said. “I came from the audience, 5’10, not overly muscular. I see a lot of kids looking up to me. Every dog can have it’s day, miracles can happen.”

Santino noted that he’s had laser back surgery and “feels great” now, but that his neck still isn’t 100%. You can listen to his entire interview on Main Event Radio.

TNA Reportedly Struggling To Find New U.K. TV Network

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOISC3_Z_Bw

TNA recently lost their TV deal in the U.K. on Challenge due to declining ratings, and it appears they’re having trouble finding a new channel to air Impact Wrestling.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA knew the deal was in trouble and started looking into other UK networks in the summer. TNA executives had one meeting with a pay channel in the U.K., Premier Sports, but the channel declined. Premier Sports reportedly did their research and didn’t like how TNA executives handled their departures from Spike TV and Destination America. With Premier Sports officially out of the running, it’s unknown if Impact Wrestling will get picked up in the U.K. at all.

TNA’s only major source of revenue now is their TV deal in India, which pays them approximately $5 million annually. According to the Observer, that deal may also be in jeopardy because there’s a clause that requires TNA to tour India annually. TNA canceled last year’s tour of India and hasn’t been there this year.

The Challenge TV deal was worth slightly over $1 million per year to TNA.

  • Scott Hall Speaks On Seth Rollins’ Reputation As An Unsafe Worker

Scott Hall recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about allegations that Seth Rollins is unsafe in the ring — something that fellow WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart publicly criticized Rollins for. Hall disagrees with Hart, and explained to Sports Illustrated why he doesn’t label Rollins a dangerous performer.

“Certainly Seth was never intending to hurt anybody, and you’ve got to remember that Sting hadn’t wrestled much in the past five years and he was in his fifties,” Hall said, referencing Sting’s career-ending match against Rollins.

“It’s really becoming en vogue for a lot of these new guys to do moves on the apron,” Hall said of Rollins’ wrestling style. “That’s becoming really trendy, and that’s where the ring is really hard. Powerbombing someone on the apron or into the turnbuckle, those are not moves Sting and I grew up with. He wasn’t really conditioned to take it, he hadn’t practiced it, and I think he whiplashed his 56-year-old neck. It’s a shame to see a guy of that caliber go out with an injury, but he had a great run. But no, Seth is not reckless.”

Hall felt that the injury Finn Balor suffered in a match against Rollins was particularly devastating to Balor because of the timing. Balor had just joined the main roster and was immediately being put into main event storylines.

“I’m such a fan of [Finn Balor],” he said. “I was so sorry to see him get hurt right at the zenith of his push.”

Hall also mentioned Kevin Owens and Shinsuke Nakamura when asked who else he’s a fan of in WWE. You can read his entire interview at SI.com.

Stephanie said she hopes Rousey will consider WWE as a career option, and joked that she still has to get back at Rousey for putting her in an armbar at WrestleMania 31.  McMahon didn’t indicate if WWE had reached out to Rousey yet, but says she’s certainly going to try.

    https://soundcloud.com/siriusxmrush/ric-flair-on-his-daughter-charlotte-i-think-shes-the-best-worker-in-the-company-man-or-woman

Ric Flair recently appeared on Sirius XM’s Busted Open Radio where he discussed his daughter Charlotte’s victory over Sasha Banks at WWE’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. The Nature Boy feels that Charlotte is among the best workers in the company, male or female, and shared some backstage details on her Hell In A Cell match.

“They took two huge spots out of the match,” Flair said. The Nature Boy said the company made some changes to the plans for the match because they “were afraid Sasha was going to get hurt.” Flair wouldn’t say what the cancelled plans were, but that “one of them involved a moonsault.”

Flair credited Vince McMahon for putting the Women’s Championship match last on the pay-per-view, and said it’s a good thing he did because “nothing could have followed it.”

As far as who Flair views as the top talent in the company, he listed his daughter along with Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and Triple H. You can listen to his entire interview on demand on SiriusXM.com.

  • Scott Hall Predicts That Hulk Hogan Will Return To WWE, Shares WCW Story

Scott Hall Predicts That Hulk Hogan Will Return To WWE, Shares WCW Story

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Scott Hall says that fellow Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will return to WWE again. WWE removed Hogan’s name from almost everything they could last July after transcripts with racial slurs from his sex tape leaked online. Recently the company started using a clip of Hogan’s voice in a WWE Network commercial, which lead some fans to speculate that the company is opening up to working with him again.

Hall firmly believes that Hogan will once again work for the McMahon empire. When asked, he definitively answered, “Yes, Hulk will be back.” The former Intercontinental Champion says that if WWE’s door isn’t open for Hulk again yet, it should be soon.

“After a thirty-three year relationship with the WWE, he had a bad day—and that bad day was nearly ten years ago,” Hall explained. “That sex tape happened during a brutal time in his life. He was going through a divorce, his son Nick was in a car crash, paralyzed his buddy, and was facing jail time. His daughter was starting her hip-hop career, and Hulk was backing that, paying money out of his own pocket for that. The whole world was coming down on him, and he slipped up. He said the wrong thing. I’ve been around Hulk a lot and never seen that side of him. I’ve only seen a kind, generous guy.”

Hall also touched on some of his experiences with Hogan in the now-defunct WCW. He shared a story about Hogan’s long-rumored “creative control” coming into play in his career. In late ’97, Hall won a 60-man battle royal, which should have earned him a WCW World Title shot in the main event at SuperBrawl.

“I won at World War 3, and I was supposed to get the title shot at SuperBrawl,” explained Hall. “That was traditionally a big draw for WCW, and I was supposed to be the main event there vs. Sting. But Hulk c***blocked that and he took the main event spot and I never got the title match. That’s WCW in a nutshell.”

The November 1st episode of WWE SmackDown aired live on the USA Network from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

    – SmackDown opens up with Dean Ambrose calling out James Ellsworth to the ring. Ambrose gets in Ellsworth’s face and Ellsworth apologizes profusely for costing Ambrose his match last week. AJ Styles interrupts quickly and tells Ellsworth that Ambrose is just using him, and AJ says that he respects Ellsworth more than Ambrose does. Ambrose says the reason he likes Ellsworth is because he doesn’t take the cheap, easy way out like AJ does. Ellsworth tries to stop Styles and Ambrose from fighting, but AJ pushes Ellsworth out of the way and drops Ambrose with a kick to the head. AJ throws Ellsworth out of the ring, then hits the Phenomenal Forearm on Ambrose in the ring. AJ picks up his World Title belt and heads to the back.

    – Mauro introduces a video package highlighting the history between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, with Orton turning on Kane last week. Orton vs. Kane in a No Disqualification Match is up next.

    – Dean Ambrose is yelling at James Ellsworth backstage until Daniel Bryan walks on screen and tells them to calm down. Bryan gives Ambrose a rematch against AJ Styles tonight, and orders Ellsworth to stay backstage during the match and stop getting involved.

Randy Orton def. Kane: This one will be a No DQ match. Orton and Kane roll outside as soon as the bell rings and being brawling around ringside. Kane smashes Orton in the back with a steel chair then throws him back in the ring. Kane sets up for a chokeslam, but the lights go out and The Wyatts interfere. Kane is able to fight them off, but the distraction allows for Orton to hit an RKO for the win. After the match, Luke Harper hits a spinning lariat on Kane. Harper and Orton push Kane into Wyatt and Wyatt hits the Sister Abigail. Orton, Wyatt and Harper celebrate in the ring as Kane lays motionless.

Alexa Bliss & Carmella def. Becky Lynch & Nikki Bella: After some back and forth action with Nikki and Alexa in the opening minutes, Becky and Carmella tag in and Becky hits a t-bone suplex and pins. Alexa runs in and breaks the pin, then drags Carmella to the corner and tags herself in. Becky hits another suplex on Alexa and pins, but Carmella distracts the referee. Becky gets up and grabs the referee, but turns around right into a DDT from Alexa for the win. After the match, Alexa and Carmella talk trash about the women of RAW.

    – Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are talking in the back about who should be the leader of their women’s team at Survivor Series. Daniel wants Becky Lynch to lead the team, but Natalya walks on and volunteers. Shane seems to think it’s a good idea for Natalya to lead the team, and he convinces Daniel Bryan. Bryan makes it official that Natalya will be the coach for the women at Survivor Series.

American Alpha def. The Spirit Squad: The Spirit Squad gets some offense in on Gable in the opening minutes, but Jordan quickly gets the hot tag and cleans house. He hits a series of suplexes, but then misses a spear on Kenny in the corner and hits the ring post. Gable and Mikey tag in and Gable throws Kenny outside. Gable and Jordan hit the Grand Amplitude for the win after a short match.

    – The Miz and Maryse bring out Daniel Bryan to talk about Survivor Series on Miz TV. Daniel Bryan starts off by joking that he might cancel Miz TV which gets a big pop from the crowd. The Miz wants to know who will be on the men’s Survivor Series team. Bryan announces that the team will consist of Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, and AJ Styles. The Miz gets upset that not only is he not the team captain, but he didn’t even make the team. Bryan says they considered The Miz, but they need wrestlers who are “willing to fight” on the team. The Miz tells Bryan he is going to lead Team SmackDown to a loss, and that Bryan is the one who’s scared to fight. Goldberg Says He Hugged Vince After RAW Return, What’s Next After Lesnar Match

Bill Goldberg recently appeared on Booker T’s Heated Conversations podcast to discuss his upcoming match against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Goldberg expressed that returning to the ring is a huge risk for him, but at least it “shouldn’t be too difficult” to live up to the standard of his last match with Lesnar, which was nearly universally criticized by fans.

“There’s a lot to take into consideration, dude,” Goldberg told Booker T. “Am I going to be able to do it physically? Am I going to be big enough? Am I going to be strong enough? Am I going to break something, pull something, tear something? Am I going to be able to do the things that I used to do? I mean, the list is a million things long. But, hey, dude, I don’t have a problem with obstacles.”

Goldberg returned to WWE earlier this month for the first time in twelve years. He says that despite his differences with Vince McMahon in the past, he gave the WWE Chairman a big hug when he returned backstage after delivering his comeback promo on the October 17th edition of RAW.

“I’ve had some issues with them. Everybody has,” Goldberg said. “But, I can tell you, once I went through ‘Gorilla’ [position] after I delivered a promo that I didn’t think I had the ability to do, with the help of a lot of people, I gave him an embrace I never thought I’d be giving and it was one of appreciation that he gave me the opportunity to be that guy again.”

He noted that WWE only offered him a one-match deal and he’s treating it like the last match of his career. Goldberg says that after Survivor Series he’ll be thinking about “what’s next” for him.

“The minute after the match is over, I won’t bask in it,” he told Booker T. “I’ll think about what’s next. If it’s anything else in the wrestling world, I’ll consider that. If not, hey, man, it’s not like I’ve looking for something to do the last 12 years by any means.”
