TNA president Billy Corgan has openly stated that he wants to purchase the company, but one person in his way is Dixie Carter. TNA’s shareholders currently consist of Carter, Corgan, and Aroluxe Productions. The latter two shareholders got their stakes by providing emergency funding for tapings and a pay-per-view. Without their funding, the shows wouldn’t have happened and TNA could have gone under. The cost for TNA to run a set of tapings falls in the ballpark of three quarters of a million dollars.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dixie Carter wants at least $4 million for her share of the company. Aroluxe tried putting together a deal to buy out the company this summer, but they weren’t able to raise the funds.

Corgan indicated in a recent Facebook live chat that he plans to take full control of the company and use his celebrity status to build better relationships with advertisers. One of the issues TNA currently faces is a lack of advertising revenue.

  • Report: WWE Planned To Hide News Of Orton’s Concussion

Report: WWE Planned To Hide News Of Orton’s Concussion

WWE had originally hoped that Randy Orton would be cleared to return to the ring in time for Backlash. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that if he would have been cleared, they likely never would have announced the news of his concussion.

While Orton has been in the mix on TV and downplaying his injury, he hasn’t done much physically since SummerSlam. Orton didn’t take much offense during his tag match at a house show on Monday where his partner, John cena, carried most of the match. Some sources say that Orton even taking the bump of an RKO could be hurtful to his brain while suffering from a concussion.

Kane ended up replacing Orton and defeating Bray Wyatt at Backlash. Kane was reportedly always the back-up plan if Orton didn’t get cleared.

  • Report: WWE Made A Recent Offer To Buy TNA, How Much Is TNA Worth?

Report: WWE Made A Recent Offer To Buy TNA, How Much Is TNA Worth?

TNA Wrestling is for sale and the company is fielding offers from some familiar competitors. According to the New York Post, both WWE and Sinclair Broadcast Group (Ring of Honor’s parent company) are rumored to have made recent offers to buy TNA.

Over the past year or so, WWE has acquired the talent that defined TNA over the past decade, including AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and Eric Young. The real value for WWE would be acquiring TNA’s tape library to enhance the WWE Network archives. How much would that cost? The Post speculates TNA would sell for $40 million, but industry insider Dave Meltzer says that figure is far too high. “Nobody is paying $40 million. Take one zero off.”

In addition to majority owner and Chairwoman Dixie Carter, Billy Corgan, Aroluxe Marketing and Canada’s Fight Network all have equity stakes. This is the first time we’ve seen the Fight Network’s stake in TNA publicly acknowledged.

With TNA’s long standing financial struggles and Billy Corgan taking over Dixie Carter’s role as the leader of Impact Wrestling, Corgan hopes to expedite a sale and get on with the next chapter of TNA’s story. “I would love nothing better than to stand up in front of everyone and give a clear picture of where this company is and where it’s going,” he said.

JBL went on to say that while he feels the economy is currently in bad shape, he doesn’t think it’s a depression because the stock market still thrives. When asked what stock people should buy, Layfield predicted that GoPro (GPRO) will do well.

  • Ryback Opens Up About His Beef With CM Punk & Mocking Him In Chicago

Ryback Opens Up About His Beef With CM Punk & Mocking Him In Chicago

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY5qO1s0wt8

Ryback, who has legally changed his name to that from Ryan Reeves, recently spoke out about his past issues with CM Punk in an interview with Sports Illustrated. Back in 2014, CM Punk made it known on a podcast that he didn’t like Ryback and thought he was an unsafe worker. Ryback feels that Punk’s comments were untrue and hurt his career.

“Those Punk comments did a lot of damage to me,” he said. “CM Punk has a tremendous following. When you have as many followers as he has, and you say something about somebody, they’re going to believe everything you say. To this day, I don’t know why Punk tied me in with his whole thing against the WWE. I feel like part of it was he was his unhappiest with the company when he was working with me, and I kind of got tied into all of it.”

With CM Punk’s large fan base turned against him, Ryback felt that WWE management didn’t have his back. While Ryback got support from his peers, he says WWE should have told fans that Punk’s comments were untrue.

“I was always upset that the WWE never went out of its way to say, ‘That’s not true about this guy,’” said Ryback. “Guys like Jericho, who have been in the ring with me, went to bat for me, and I can’t thank them enough for that – but why couldn’t the company do that, especially when I took the hit on that? That always bothered me that they never tried to clear that up.”

Ryback noted that his imitation of CM Punk’s entrance at Payback in Chicago was to get more heat from the crowd, and he felt it worked. Ryback noted that management was “furious” at him for the imitation.

“Punk and I are two entirely different human beings, but I think we shared some of the same viewpoints toward the WWE as far as business,” Ryback concluded.

The Miz def. Apollo Crews: Dolph Ziggler is on commentary, making fun of Miz for not fighting him last week. AJ is very displeased with the footage airing again, and Ambrose explains that he was just trying to give him a high pitched voice to go with his “soccer mom haircut.” AJ says he’s going to take Ambrose’s title belt on Sunday, just like he took Cena’s headband by beating him clean in a WWE ring. Ambrose says he beat AJ before and he’ll beat him again. Ambrose calls him “the face that comes in second place,” so AJ delivers a kick to the groin of Ambrose. AJ stands over Ambrose as SmackDown goes off the air.

  • Paige Reportedly On Her Way Out Of WWE

It sounds like Paige’s days in WWE may be numbered. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio on Monday that things are looking really bad for Paige in the company. Meltzer expects that Paige and WWE will negotiate her release in the near future.

Back in August, it was reported that Paige had “significant” issues with company management. This month it was reported on MLW Radio that a WWE executive approached both Paige and Alberto Del Rio and indicated that the office wanted them to break off their relationship. Mister Saint Laurent of MLW Radio claims that WWE actually threatened to fire Paige if she didn’t end things with Del Rio.

Paige is currently serving a 30-day suspension from WWE for violating their Wellness Policy. Alberto Del Rio’s lawyer gave notice to WWE earlier this summer that Del Rio would be opting out of his contract with the company, and will be free to work elsewhere at the end of September.

Owens says Rollins has been a failure since his return from injury, and Rollins decks him. Owens leaves the ring, and Stephanie suspends Rollins indefinitely. Rollins reaches the ropes to break the hold, then hits a couple kicks to the head of Jericho. Rollins misses a frogsplash off the top rope and Jericho capitalizes with a Lionsault for a near-fall. They trade kicks until Rollins ducks one and pulls out a Pedigree out of nowhere for the win.

They bring out three actors impersonating what The New Day might look like in the future in a retirement home. The actors in grey wigs with canes and walkers get microphones and say that Gallows and Anderson beat the power of positivity out of them. The real New Day comes out and trashes Gallows and Anderson. Sasha says the bad news wasn’t about herself but was for Charlotte, and she’s going to get her Women’s Title back.

  • Batista’s Latest Film Hits Screens This Weekend (Video)

Former WWE Champion Dave Bautista’s most-recent film hit select theaters and VOD this weekend. Bautista stars alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme and Georges St Pierre in Kickboxer: Vengeance.

Kickboxer: Vengeance is Bautista’s thirteenth film and is directed by John Stockwell, who is best known for Top Gun. The sequel, Kickboxer: Retaliation, is already in production and will see Batista resume his role from Vengeance.

Below is the official synopsis for the film:

Eric and Kurt Sloane are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. Kurt has always been in older brother, Eric’s shadow, as he lacks the instincts needed to become a champion. Against Kurt’s concerns, Eric accepts a paid offer and travels to Thailand to challenge the Muay Thai champion Tong Po and fails with dire consequences. Kurt sets out for revenge. He trains with his brother’s mentor, Master Durand, for a Muay Thai fight against the merciless champion, Tong Po. Durand first thinks Kurt is impossible to train, but through a series of spiritual exercises and tests, Durand discovers that Kurt has a deeper strength that will carry him through his final showdown with Tong Po.

Batista’s most-recent WWE contract expired late last year after having creative differences with the company. Batista turned down a role at WrestleMania 32 this year, but indicated he would be interested in working untelevised events for the company.

  • Several Major Companies Interested In Signing Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio is reportedly on the way out of WWE, and already has several options lined up once he’s free from his contract later this month.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lucha Underground has been reaching out to people associated with Del Rio to send out feelers about bringing him back. Lucha Underground may not have the kind of money Del Rio would want to sign on, however.

Despite his rocky relationship with AAA in the past, the company has serious interest in bringing him back. Del Rio had kept his WWE return a secret from AAA and left the company without losing their title belt last year. There is also speculation about AAA’s current financial status and if they’d be able to afford Del Rio’s typical contract or not.

TNA does reportedly want Del Rio, but also may have trouble affording his contract. TNA had previously courted Del Rio and promised him a headlining role in the company, but Del Rio declined. In an interview earlier this year, Del Rio indicated that money was a factor in his decision to return to WWE rather than joining TNA and taking outside bookings.

The other company expressing interest in Del Rio is New Japan Pro Wrestling. Of the companies pursuing him, NJPW would most likely be able to offer Del Rio the kind of money he would expect at this point in his career.
