  • Low Ad Rates For Impact Wrestling On Pop TV Revealed

Low Ad Rates For Impact Wrestling On Pop TV Revealed

The advertising rates for Impact Wrestling on Pop TV have been released online, and it may shed some light on why certain cable channels are hesitant to do business with TNA. James Caldwell of PWTorch.com reports that Impact Wrestling commands less money for commercials than lower-rated programming on the network, such as Days Of Our Lives reruns, or an airing of the 1998 movie You’ve Got Mail.

Caldwell reported the following ad rates for the March 29th episode of Impact Wrestling, compared to other programs on Pop TV.

    TNA Impact 3/29 first-run airing revenue: $18,414
    Avg. cost for a 30-second ad: $335

Days of Our Lives 3/29 revenue: $44,135
Avg. cost for 30-second ad: $1,100-1,250

Another example Caldwell reported was a 30-second ad during You’ve Got Mail costing $406. It was reported that TNA’s only revenue from Pop TV is a cut of the ad revenue, so Pop TV might be ending up with less than the numbers mentioned above for Impact Wrestling commercials. Pop TV recently removed the Tuesday night replay of Impact Wrestling.

  • Dolph Ziggler Speaks On Disagreeing With John Cena, His WWE Career

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler says he and John Cena don’t always see eye on eye when it comes to their opinions on wrestling. In an interview with GetMoreSports.com to promote his new movie Countdown, Ziggler talked about his relationship with Cena, and getting advice from The Rock.

“A lot of times John and I, when it comes to wrestling or sports entertainment, don’t always see eye to eye, but it’s also great to have someone whose been through that Attitude Era and we get to talk about his movies and getting better at wrestling,” Ziggler said of picking The Rock’s brain. “It’s very motivational because it’s all positive and they’ve been through it all. Those guys going through it is only good for all of us and just gives us a chance to get our foot in the door.”

Ziggler also talked about his career path in WWE, which included being in an all-male cheerleader group The Spirit Squad.

“When you come into a business and hope that you can get any chance that there is to make it to the main roster and then you make it to the main roster as either a golf caddy or a cheerleader, it’s is a little disheartening. You know the hard work that went in, you know the 20 years of collegiate experience that you have of breaking records. You can show up like The Shield for two years and beat everybody up, talk about how great you are every single night and then the world knows you as the guys who win all the time and who are great at talking. You can come on as me, whether you’re a cheerleader or a caddy, and you get beat up all the time and lose every single night and you have to overcome that to be taken as a credible threat on our show. But it also drove me for years. It made me become that much better. Now I don’t need to be motivated, I already am motivated.”

  • Report: TNA Being Evicted From Old Office, In Serious Financial Trouble

We reported yesterday that TNA is in the process of moving out of their offices at Cummins Station in Nashville and into the ShopTNA.com warehouse. PWInsider.com originally reported that the move had been planned for a while, but there appears to be more to the story.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that TNA is actually being evicted from the building, and their only choice is to move all of their business operations into the ShopTNA warehouse. Dixie Carter had offices in that same space for her old public relations company for years before she got involved in TNA, and TNA took over the space from her PR company. TNA has until the end of the month to move out.

The company reportedly needs to raise money if they want to be able to pay for airfare for their next Impact Wrestling TV tapings in Orlando. TNA does have an investor willing to put money into the company for controlling interest, but Dixie Carter reportedly isn’t interested in giving up her control right now.

  • WWE RAW Results – April 11, 2016

The April 11, 2016 edition of WWE RAW aired live on the USA Network from the Staples Center in Las Angeles, California. For the second week in a row, Shane McMahon will be on-air to run the show.

    – Shane McMahon comes out to the ring to open up RAW. Shane says tonight there are going to be more new stars and new match ups. He books Natalya vs. Charlotte, AJ Styles vs. Sami Zayn, and a tag team tournament for #1 contendership for the titles. Kevin Owens interrupts and says Sami Zayn doesn’t deserve the opportunity, he does. Shane books Owens in a match against Cesaro for #1 contendership for the Intercontinental Title, and it’s up next.

Cesaro def. Kevin Owens: The winner will face The Miz later tonight for the IC Title. Cesaro controls the opening moments, until Owens starts working on the injured shoulder of Cesaro. Cesaro comes back with a series of uppercuts and a dropkick for a 2 count. Owens gets Cesaro in a crossface crippler but Cesaro gets out and puts Owens in a Sharpshooter. Owens hits a superkick and goes up top and hits a frogsplash for a 2 count. Cesaro springboards off the middle rope for a spinning uppercut and swings Owens a few times before his shoulder gives out. Cesaro hits the Neutralizer for the 3-count.

    – Ric Flair and Charlotte are talking backstage when Dr. Phil interrupts. Phil says Flair is corrupting his daughter by getting her to cheat all the time, which leads to Flair and Phil having a woo-off.

The Dudley Boyz def. The Lucha Dragons: Before the match, The New Day comes out and cuts a promo saying no one in the tag team tournament can beat them. The Dudleys throw Kalisto to the outside early on and he sells a shoulder injury on the floor. Sin Cara gets some offense in on D-Von back in the ring, including a springboard moonsault for a 2 count. Eventually Bubba gets the tag and they hit the 3D for the win. After the match, Enzo and Cass come out and cut a promo on the Dudleys.

    – Roman Reigns comes out and cuts a promo about how he’s going to beat AJ Styles at Payback. The League of Nations interrupts and hits the ring. The Wyatt Family comes out to even the numbers and they clear out the members of the League. Shane McMahon comes out and says Reigns and the Wyatts will team up later tonight against the League.

Natalya def. Charlotte via DQ: Dr. Phil is out to ringside for this one. Charlotte and Natalya go back and forth until an armbar forces Charlotte to roll to the outside to regroup. Charlotte comes back with a neckbreaker and some knee drops. Charlotte gets Natalya in both the Figure 4 and the Sharpshooter, but Natalya gets out of them. Natalya comes back with a German suplex and a clothesline. Charlotte misses a moonsault and Natalya puts her in the Sharpshooter. Ric Flair pulls the ref out of the ring, which gets Natalya the win by disqualification, and lets Charlotte keep the Women’s Championship. After the match, Dr. Phil cuts a promo about Charlotte not being a good role model.

The Usos def. Curtis Axel and Heath Slater: Bo Dallas and Adam Rose are at ringside. Heath slater gets some offense on Jey and the Outcasts start prematurely celebrating. This leads to Jimmy getting the tag and rolling up Slater for the quick 1-2-3. After the match, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson hit the ring and jump the Usos.

    – In The Miz’s locker room, Maryse is freaking out about there being blue M&M’s in a bowl and the wrong bottled water. The Miz talks about how he is Cesaro’s kryptonite. Cesaro interrupts and says he just wanted to take a look at the guy he’s going to beat at WWE Payback.

AJ Styles def. Sami Zayn: They go back and forth with arm locks and arm grabs in the opening minutes until AJ hits a dropkick to take control of the match. AJ elbows Zayn to the outside, then knees him in the face from the apron. Back in the ring, Zayn sends Styles to the outside and follows up with a suicide dive over the top. Back in the ring, AJ hits a series of big strikes and a pumphandle slam for a 2 count. Zayn hits a cross body splash off the top and a tornado DDT, both for 2 counts. Styles hits the Pele kick, but Zayn gets up and hits the spinning powerbomb for a 2 count. After what looked like a botched sunset flip spot off the top rope, AJ hits the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.

    – Chris Jericho is out for the Highlight Reel, and his guest is himself. Jericho says no one of the WWE roster can touch him right now, which brings out Dean Ambrose. Ambrose informs Jericho that the Highlight Reel has been cancelled by Shane McMahon and replaced with Dean Ambrose’s Ambrose Asylum. Jericho hits the mic out of Ambrose’s hand, so Ambrose hits the Dirty Deeds on him before heading to the back.

    – R-Truth and Goldust are arguing in the back when Dr. Phil walks in. Dr. Phil looks at them and decides he’s not even going to bother and walks off.

Apollo Crews def. Adam Rose: Rose tries to keep Crews grounded, but he mounts a comeback after a vertical suplex. Crews hits a standing enzuigiri and a spinning sit out powerbomb for the 3 count.

Roman Reigns & Bray Wyatt def . Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio: Bray and Reigns take turns tagging each other in as they beat down on Sheamus. Eventually Sheamus hits a backbreaker on Bray, which Del Rio follows up on with a double foot stop off the top. Reigns takes 11 clubs to the chest from Sheamus and a kick to the head from Del Rio for a 2 count. Sheamus gets some more offense in on Reigns, but Reigns eventually hits a Samoan drop and tags in Bray. Bray hits a Rock Bottom and a senton drop on Del Rio then sets him up for the Sister Abigail. Del Rio gets out and Rusev kicks Bray in the head when the ref isn’t looking for a 2 count. The Wyatt Family comes out and lay out Rusev. Bray hits the Sister Abigail on Del Rio for the 1-2-3 while Reigns spears Sheamus. Wyatt and Reigns stare each other down as RAW goes off the air.

The move was likely made after finding out from WWE’s attorney Jerry McDevitt last week of a contract that they were not aware of that Goguen signed in 2011. Stratus revealed that she still keeps tabs on what’s going on in the WWE Universe. She says she still watches RAW and Total Divas every now and then.

“I’m going to kick back,” Sting said after signing nearly 1,000 autographs at Big Time Wrestling’s show in Webster, MA on Saturday. “I’ll pick and choose some events, but I won’t be traveling as much. These grassroots shows remind me of my humble beginnings–even the smell of the building reminds me when I started. It’s an honor to still be in front of the fans.

“It’s been an incredible ride with those who supported me,” he added. “I said it at the Hall of Fame, and I’ll say it again–thank you. My hat is off to you. I wouldn’t be here unless for the fans, and that’s not a cliche, it’s true.”

The WWE Hall of Famer also talked about about what may go down as his most memorable moment in WWE: His match against Triple H at WrestleMania 31, which he lost.

“People took the loss personally, but in this business, you have to learn real quick not to take anything that personally,” said Sting. “For me, it was a memory just being in Levi Stadium in California, my home state, with that crowd there.”

  • Cena Talks About Meeting Vince McMahon For The First Time, Attitude Adjustment

Cena Talks About Meeting Vince McMahon For The First Time, Attitude Adjustment

Prior to WrestleMania 32, John Cena was interviewed for Centerstage on the YES Network in New York City. The interview will finally air on April 12th at 11 PM, with several replays afterwards, and the YES Network sent along some highlights from the transcript. Cena spoke with them about how big WrestleMania has become, and went all the way back to his humble beginnings in the wrestling business. Cena recalled the first time he met Vince McMahon, saying it didn’t happen until the very night of his WWE debut.

“I got to meet Vince McMahon in Chicago in 2002, which is where I made my (mainstage, WWE television) debut, and it was the night of my debut, and my debut shouldn’t have even happened,” Cena revealed. “Kurt Angle was supposed to wrestle a fellow named The Undertaker that night, and The Undertaker actually could not make the show. He was extremely ill and didn’t show up, and they needed a replacement, and somebody threw my name out there because it would just be like a single match and it would do more for Kurt Angle than anybody else and Vince said “Okay,” so they brought me in to see Vince, and I had a long, horrible, badly-dyed mop haircut at the time. And my first meeting with Vince McMahon went something like this: I was shoved into a room and someone over my shoulder said, “What do you think?” And he (McMahon) turns around and goes, “Cut his hair.” That was my first meeting with my boss. I love him. I admire him as a human being. I think he’s … just a wonderful example of hard work paying off. To this day he does not need to show up. He is always hands on. He always shows up. His drive is incomparable.”

Cena was asked about his signature maneuver the “Attitude Adjustment.” Cena talks about getting the move from Tommy Dreamer and just changing the name.

“I actually got a signature move from a guy named Tommy Dreamer. A local guy. A New York guy. And he was using a move, that is a fireman’s carry, and you basically pick somebody on your shoulders and drop them down to the mat, and he gave it to me and I gave it a name and then changed the name and now it’s the Attitude Adjustment.”

PWInsider.com reports that the company’s response including citing wrestling wearing facepaint dating back to the 1980’s with the Road Warriors, and various wrestling with clown-esque paint. The company also made a point to mention that wrestlers with painted faces are often placed together in stables.

The cease & desist alleged that Crazzy Steve and TNA ripped off his likeness, including mannerisms, costumes, face paint and the red mist. TNA reportedly has no plans to pull Crazzy Steve, who currently holds the tag team titles with Abyss, from TV.

WWE Teasing Shane McMahon Appearance On RAW, Dr. Phil Speaks

Dr. Phil tweeted on Sunday about his appearance on Monday’s RAW in Los Angeles. Phil said he’ll be “behind the scenes,” which means he may not come out in front of the live crowd at the Staples Center.

WWE.com is teasing an appearance by Shane McMahon at Monday’s RAW, while Triple H, Vince & Stephanie McMahon have all been pulled from their listing for the event. Shane originally wasn’t advertised for any shows after WrestleMania 32. Here’s the teaser they posted involving Shane:

Even though he failed to defeat The Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania, Shane McMahon was still granted a temporary reign as Raw’s showrunner — by Mr. McMahon, of all people. His first night at the helm of Monday night’s hottest show brought us a new Intercontinental Champion, several new Superstar debuts and the return of the fan-favorite Cesaro.

It’s clear that WWE’s Prodigal Son didn’t fall on his face as The Chairman had hoped, and it’s equally clear that the WWE Universe likes the way Shane runs things. Will the risk-taking Shane-O-Mac have the opportunity to give us another crowd-pleasing edition of Raw? What might Shane’s success last week mean for The Authority?

We’ll have live results from RAW at the Staples Center in Los Angeles right here on Monday night.

  • Jim Ross Speaks On Bobby Roode & Eric Young Possibly Joining WWE, Maryse

Jim Ross says Bobby Roode and Eric Young would both be good additions to NXT to help teach the younger talent just starting in the wrestling business. In a new blog entry on his website, the WWE Hall of Famer said Roode is one of the best ring hands in wrestling right now.

“WWE is smart to be looking to sign Bobby Roode who I feel is one of the best in ring hands in the biz. Hiring Eric Young would be a nice ‘get’ too. Both can perform with any talent no matter that talent’s skill set,” Ross said of the two former TNA stars possible joining WWE/NXT. “Young talents cannot improve working regularly with people of the same skill set or less than them.”

The former WWE VP of Talent Relations also commented on Maryse returning to help her husband The Miz on RAW. Ross says their current storyline reminds him of Marc Mero and Sable in the Attitude era.

“Smart booking by WWE at first glance of placing Maryse with her husband The Miz on WWE TV after Wrestlemania,” Ross said. “Miz needed a bit of new, sizzle and his lovely wife looks like she may well be the answer. Reminds me somewhat of Marc Mero and his then wife Sable.”

Charles Robinson On Randy Savage Collapsing His Lung, Favorite WrestleMania Moments

Chris Jericho talked to veteran WWE referee Charles Robinson on episode 233 of his podcast Talk Is Jericho. Before getting to his favorite WrestleMania moments, Robinson flashed back to WCW in 1999 when took an elbow drop from the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage that took him two weeks to recover from.

“In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, I believe it was, Flair and I teamed up [and] took on Savage and Medusa.” Robinson added, “we had a tag match and it finished with the elbow drop onto me, Savage elbow drop, which I didn’t know how to position myself, whether to hold my chest or breathe. I just laid there and took it. And he landed in on me and put me in the hospital for two weeks. Yeah, collapsed lung.”

Robinson was hired by WWE after their purchase of WCW, and went on to referee several major WrestleMania matches. Robinson revealed his three favorites so far, and they all involved Shawn Michaels: Flair vs. Michaels at WrestleMania 24; The Undertaker vs. Michaels from WrestleMania 26; and, Jericho vs. Michaels at WrestleMania 19.

“Well, WrestleMania 19 was pretty good. It was Shawn Michaels against some Canadian [Jericho]. Yeah, I had my haircut real short. I’ll never do that again. That was the worst haircut ever. [Michaels’] hair was pretty bad too. [Jericho] had the best hair. But that was a great match. But that, [and] WrestleMania 24, Flair and Shawn Michaels when Flair retired. [It was] certainly the biggest honor, but who else could they’ve used though? Right? It was very nice of them to let me do it. I think we were crying about a minute into the match.” Robinson continued, “but the last one, the last match that was big was Shawn Michaels against The Undertaker [at] WrestleMania 26, I believe. That’s where Shawn retired. So it’s Flair and Shawn, Undertaker and Shawn, and [Jericho] and Shawn. Huh, it’s Shawn. What a coincidence, so it means a lot that Shawn was in all three matches.”
