  • Report: Batista Turns Down Second WrestleMania 32 Offer

WWE is still pursuing Batista for an appearance at WrestleMania. We first reported in January that Batista had declined an offer to wrestle a match, and now WWE is pitching him non-wrestling roles for the big pay-per-view.

When Batista was backstage visiting at last week’s SmackDown taping in Tampa, where he lives, he had a meeting with Vince McMahon. PWInsider.com reports that Vince pitched Batista a special guest referee role for WrestleMania 32, which Batista also turned down. The referee role was reportedly for Roman Reigns vs. HHH. There’s no word on if WWE plans to have someone else fill the role of guest referee for the WrestleMania match.

Back in November, Batista stated that during his last WWE run, he was “constantly butting heads with them creatively.” In an interview to promote 007 Spectre, the wrestler-turned-actor says WWE’s creative direction made the fans rebel against him.

“I’m the worst babyface ever,” Batista explained, “but I’m a good heel, I know how to be a heel, I’m comfortable being a heel and the fans want me to be a heel. But they tried to shove me down everybody’s throats, and they rebelled. They are not idiots and they don’t like it and they don’t want it. So, it just makes them rebel more. ”

The former WWE champ also recalled another negative experience he had with the company, where a cameraman wouldn’t call Batista by his name. Batista will be filming the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie for Marvel over the next few months.

Many WWE fans know Pat Patterson as a ring legend, WWE Hall of Famer, and one of Vince McMahon’s “stooges” during the Attitude Era. But Patterson is no stooge. He has long been one of Vince McMahon’s trusted advisors, his impact and importance to the nascent stages of WWE nearly comparable to the Chairman himself. Still active in WWE today, Pat delivers his no-holds-barred story from unknown to WWE luminary.

  • Bret Hart On Why Owen Hart Isn’t In The Hall Of Fame, His Cancer Diagnosis

Bret Hart doesn’t think his brother Owen will be joining him in the WWE Hall of Fame any time soon. In a recent interview with Ring Rust Radio, Bret explains why he doesn’t think Owen will be inducted, despite the release of WWE’s DVD set about the late Hart Foundation member.

“I can confirm it to a certain degree, but no one has told me officially,” Hart said about reports that Owen will not be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame this year. “I have heard from various family members that are closely tied in with WWE that it doesn’t look like Owen is being inducted. I think it’s a real shame and it breaks my heart. The main obstacle I think is his widow Martha, who is really obtuse and kind of a bitter woman that never understood that it wasn’t the wrestling fans or wrestlers that killed Owen. It’s pretty easy now to look back on it and see that it was really just an unfortunate accident. I think Martha is guilty of burying and doing nothing to help keep Owen’s memory alive. Wrestling fans have every right to remember Owen and cherish his career. A lot of people loved Owen just for the type of person he was and not just the wrestler he was. A lot of wrestling fans got to know him over the years and miss him. I just think it’s really sad that Martha is still so obtuse and has it in her head the only ones that can grieve over Owen are her and her kids and everyone else can go to hell. The rest of us miss him too and I don’t agree with her and her idea on how to remember Owen. It’s a shame that she can’t accept that fans love him and miss him just as much she does.”

Hart also spoke about being diagnosed with prostate cancer, which he announced to the public on Monday.

“I think just by being open and honest about it. Letting people know that I’m in the fight, and as I go through it, I’ll show people just that,” Hart said. “Hopefully in the near future I can prove to people that I will overcome this battle and be on the better side of it in six months or so. Hopefully, people will gain strength from that and use me as somebody they can look up to if someone in their family or themselves goes through it.”

  • James Storm & Bobby Roode Speak On WWE vs. TNA, Advice For TNA Creative Team

James Storm & Bobby Roode Speak On WWE vs. TNA, Advice For TNA Creative Team

Beer Money (James Storm and Bobby Roode) were interviewed by The Huffington Post while in the UK for TNA’s latest tour. When asked about WWE trying to lure away TNA talent, they made it clear they feel wrestlers don’t need to be in WWE to be successful. Here’s what they had to say about WWE signing TNA wrestlers:

James Storm: “For me, it only makes smart business. If they’re able to do it because they have the financial backing then so be it. However, it’s also big props to the guys that don’t go. A lot of people are always hating on the guys that don’t go or leave or something. It’s like you don’t have to wrestle in WWE to be successful. A lot of people can’t live with that.”

Bobby Roode: “The one thing that you learn in this business is that perception is reality. What you see on TV or what you read about the business isn’t always true. As James said, you don’t have to go to WWE to make money or to be happy. I’ve been in TNA for nearly fifteen years. I’m very happy, financially I’m doing well and it’s been very successful. In this business were all one big happy dysfunctional family. It doesn’t matter which company you work for, everyone wishes everyone else the best. Nobody ever wants to see a company fold. I don’t know why some fans want to see the company do badly. On social media, people are bashing TNA. Why? If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. When I was a kid, I would have wanted wrestling on every singly night. It didn’t matter what it was.”

JS: “If the company does go out of business, WWE might not pick up your favourite wrestler you were watching on the other company. Now you don’t get to see the guy you wanted to see.”

When asked if they have any advice for TNA’s creative team on how to improve their television, they had similar ideas: Don’t rush the storylines.

JS: “Just consistent storylines. There’s been a lot of times here in TNA where things have been hot-shotted or just rushed. When I was growing up watching wrestling, story’s took a while. In this day and age, with TV and TNA not running as many Pay-Per-Views as other companies, storylines are kind of rushed. I think when they’re really good and drawn out that keeps the audience involved.”

BR: “The storylines are really important. Wrestling has changed so much with TV – its wrestling for the ratings now. So it’s hard not to hot-shot an angle sometimes but it would be nice for a story to evolve. James and I, our story lasted over a year and it was an intriguing one. If it lasts over a year and a half people can sink their teeth into something. Already people are saying they want to see us wrestle the wolves but that’s something you can build up to and get to that point.”

Cyber Defamation Lawsuit Filed Against Brooke Hogan

There’s now even more legal drama surrounding the Hogan family. Hulk Hogan’s daughter Brooke has been named in a lawsuit for “cyber defamation,” which means slander conducted through the internet. The lawsuit alleges that Brooke Hogan went on Instagram and accused the plaintiff of being involved in dog fighting.

On Tuesday, South Florida law firm Sackrin & Tolchinsky issued a press release detailing their lawsuit against Brooke Hogan. According to the press release, the lawsuit is in reference to “social media posts Brooke published to her public Twitter and Instagram accounts in April, 2015, falsely accusing Alexis “Lexi” Williams of involvement in dog fighting.”

While the Complaint in this case was filed on September 11, 2015, service of process has not yet been perfected on Brooke due to Brooke’s intentional efforts to evade service.

“We attempted to arrange service in private with Brooke’s agent and manager. Brooke responded by deleting the posts in question, and hiding in Jack’s house when a process server came to the door,” said attorney Adam Sackrin, of the ongoing efforts to serve Brooke.

Ms. Williams is seeking compensatory damages and plans to ask for punitive damages.

Brooke has appeared on both WWE and TNA television alongside her father. Hulk is still involved in a huge legal case with Gawker over his sex tape.

  • Stephanie McMahon Discusses Women In WWE On Good Morning America

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo5sxW1cvwY

Stephanie McMahon appeared on Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s Good Morning America. She spent a lot of time discussing women and gender in WWE. “Women play an integral role in WWE, both in the corporate side as well as, you know, on television …,” McMahon told Good Morning America’s Amy Robach. “There’s a lot of girl power at WWE. And we’re proud of it.” Here are the highlights from her appearance:

On women’s contributions in the male-dominated world of wrestling:

“I think what women bring to the table is perspective,” McMahon replied. “I think that it’s so important for women to have a voice at the table and in the room. And oftentimes, women feel insecure, like they don’t belong at the table with men. And why? Is your opinion any less valuable than anybody else’s? No. It’s actually more valuable because you’re the only woman … And I think that the best way to really come to the best decision is to have that diversity in the room.”

On whether she had to fight particularly hard for anything because of her gender:

“I think not only because I’m a woman, but because I’m the boss’s daughter, there is a perspective that everything’s been handed to me. So that makes me have to work and fight that much harder to prove why I belong,” she said.

On her character on WWE television:

“I think that there’s nothing more fun than what I get to do. WWE’s mission is to put smiles on people’s faces. Now, those smiles are usually at my expense in my character role, because I play a villain. I’m mean. I am really hateful,” she said, chuckling. “So it’s good if you don’t like me when you’re watching the show, it means I’m doing my job.”
