  • Sheamus Involved In Incident With Fan At WWE Live Event

Sheamus was involved in an incident with a fan at Sunday’s WWE live event that caused a bit of scene.

At the house show in Huntington, WV, a fan threw an empty bottle at the WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s head after his match with Roman Reigns that ended in a DQ. There was a commotion when security grabbed the fan and dragged him away. WWE always looks to prosecute fans for these types of incidents.

As previously noted, security at the event was beefed up with extra measures that included searches and metal detectors.

  • Austin’s Advice To Cesaro: “Come Back Guns Blazing, F*ck All The Politics”

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin was joined by Wade Keller on his latest podcast to discuss several topics. One subject the WWE Hall of Famer went off on was Cesaro.

Austin expressed disappointment that Cesaro is on the injured list right now, saying it’s unfortunate because it was time for WWE to “give him the ball” and run with it. Now that he’s forced to take time off due to a shoulder injury, Austin says Cesaro should use that time to sit back and come up with ideas to re-invent himself. Austin said,

“Time for this guy to come back both guns blazing. F**k all of the politics. I’m going to the top.”

Legend has it that Austin came up with his “Stone Cold” name and character while sitting at home when frustrated with what the WWF was coming up with for him.

Stone Cold also praised Cesaro’s in-ring work, but said he’s a guy who’s been “lost in the shuffle” of the storylines. Austin’s advice for Cesaro was to stay home and not only rest his body, but his brain, and use the time on coming up with something fresh for his character on WWE TV.

Cesaro underwent shoulder surgery on November 23rd, and is expected to be out 4 to 6 months.

  • Bret Hart Says Roman Reigns Is Like Kevin Nash, Heyman Is “Best Manager Ever”

Bret “The Hitman” Hart recently did an interview with Sports Illustrated where he gave his thoughts on Roman Reigns, and who he thinks is the best wrestling manager ever. Here are some highlights:

    On Paul Heyman:

“Paul Heyman is the best manager in wrestling, ever,” said Hart. “But he also loves the business. In order to be as smart a guy as he is about wrestling, you need to first be a really big wrestling fan. He was a kid who grew up watching wrestling. We share that, and we both have an appreciation for everything–from guys like Abdullah the Butcher to Rey Mysterio, and all kinds of different styles, shapes, and sizes. You need to have a whole assortment of chocolates in the box.”

    On Roman Reigns:

“Reigns is just like Kevin Nash,” said Hart. “If you look back at Reigns, his character was getting over really good on his own. Then they rushed him into a babyface turn and crammed him down everybody’s thoughts, and people rejected him. It wasn’t his fault. It was kind of like with Kevin Nash. He was slowly getting over, and I wrestled him at [the 1994] King of the Ring and we had a really good match. All of a sudden, by August, they were ready to make him the new champion. And I’m going, ‘He’s not ready yet. Give him a little time and let him get even more over.’ Why is there a rush? Reigns got dealt a bad set of cards. It has nothing to do with his work rate–he’s a really good worker and his style is really good. He just needs to be himself.”

  • Ric Flair On When He First Knew Shawn Michaels Would Be A Star & How Evolution Came Together

On episode 28 of Ric Flair’s WOOOOO! Nation podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer recalls his match with Shawn Michaels in 1991, and being in Evolution with HHH, Batista and Randy Orton. Here are some highlights:

If he knew Shawn Michaels had something special after their first encounter:

“Yes, I sure did. We only had four minutes to wrestle [on WWF Prime Time], but I knew. I’d seen him and he was still in the tag team situation. But yeah, he was tremendous. Yep, I sure did.”

    On how Evolution came together:

“Evolution, [the] complete idea came about as a result of Hunter wanting to bring up some young guys. And Hunter and I were very close friends and he said, ‘what do you think about this and that?’, and I didn’t know Randy [Orton] and Dave [Batista] at the time. And they got there, Hunter came up with the name, and talked about different names. And it just was a fresh start for those guys, a fresh start for me, it gave me an opportunity to position myself with some great young athletes and, at that time, probably the best worker in the business, Hunter, either it would be Hunter or Shawn, and I couldn’t be in a better place. But we had a lot of fun together. Just Randy and Dave were just great guys and to this day, I remain very friendly with them.”

“There [are] not any Evolution stories. I couldn’t get Hunter to have a glass of wine if I had a million dollars. It didn’t happen. Now, Dave Batista, I did go out with a few times, Randy a few times, but I was very conservative. Those guys, both wonderful guys. Now Dave, I did get him to take off his shirt a few times in a bar when Hunter wasn’t around.”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoM2C_Yze-8

On this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling, Kurt Angle announced that he would be retiring during TNA’s tour of the UK in January. There is some ambiguity about whether he’s announcing that he’s retiring from pro wrestling or just from TNA.

In September, Angle indicated he would be taking time off from wrestling after leaving TNA, while in October he mentioned he’s looking at a career in education or coaching.

Angle is scheduled to be a commentator for Bellator MMA’s live Spike TV show on February 19. The main event is Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock, and Kurt Angle has stated he may take a fight with Shamrock later next year.

  • TNA Issues Statement On Postponing Tour Of India

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYiR7ZXAFW8

TNA has issued a statement on the status of their tour of India.

We reported earlier that the tour has been indefinitely postponed for “logistical issues.” Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported that a TNA source told him the real reason for postponing was “safety concerns,” although Meltzer noted he doesn’t entirely believe the source’s claim.

Here’s TNA’s statement they sent out about the postponement on Thursday:

Postponement of ‘TNA One Night Only: Mumbai’ Event

    Information note:

    Mumbai, Thursday, 26 November, 2015 – 11 AM IST:

Multi Screen Media (MSM) and TNA Wrestling, the international professional wrestling entertainment organization, jointly announced today that the TNA One Night Only: Mumbai live event has been postponed.

The live event that was scheduled to take place on December 4, has now been postponed to 2016 to a yet-to-be decided date. The postponement is primarily due to logistical issues around the timing of the event.

As soon as the new dates are firmed up, it will be announced in an update.

While TNA is looking forward to coming to India soon, MSM is geared up to host the entire entourage of TNA in India.

    Event background:

MSM & TNA Wrestling announced their partnership for India’s first ever LIVE televised wrestling event last month in a pioneering move to bring an internationally broadcast sporting event to India featuring the Stars and Knockouts of IMPACT WRESTLING, TNA’s flagship, to be broadcast LIVE in India, the United States and all around the world.

  • Report: TNA Not Getting Paid By Pop TV For Programming

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCNDDYeVrRI

TNA’s deal with Pop TV may not be a very lucrative one for the #2 wrestling company in America. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Pop TV is not actually paying TNA for their programming under their new deal.

This appears to put TNA in a worse position than when they were on Destination America, as they were being paid by them for their programming. The cancelled shows in India could also be more bad news for TNA. The tour of India was being organized with their sponsor Sony Six, and losing them could be a major financial blow.

TNA has cut most of their expensive contracts, and more budget cuts may be on the way with no cash flow coming in from television programming in the U.S.

Pop TV brought in $71 million dollars in ad revenue in 2014, and they get just 2 cents monthly per home from cable & satellite providers. Destination America had $55.4 million in ad revenue in 2014, but got 7 cents monthly per home from service providers.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYiR7ZXAFW8

TNA’s big tour of India has been postponed. TNA sent an email out to their talent last week, explaining that they had to postpone the tour due to “logistical issues.”

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that a TNA source told him “safety concerns” were the real reason. Meltzer said he does not entirely believe what that source told him. It’s worth noting that in the past when TNA has cancelled domestic shows for “logistical issues,” it really meant poor ticket sales.

This tour is said to be important for TNA’s relationship with their TV partner India Sony Six. It will be interesting to see if the tour being postponed indefinitely has any effect on their deal together.

Many members of the TNA roster are now scrambling to find bookings for that weekend on short notice. TNA talent was supposed to fly out to India this weekend.

  • WWE Lands A Major New Sponsor

In what some might consider to be an odd pairing, jewelry store chain Kay Jewelers is now an official sponsor of WWE.

This is out of the ordinary for WWE, as high dollar sponsors traditionally don’t go for pro wrestling. This is why you typically don’t see many car commercials on WWE. Dodge recently bought ads on WWE shows that performed so poorly they were owed “make good spots” to make up for it. As previously reported, an advertising representative who worked with Dodge was quoted as saying “I do understand [that WWE has changed to a PG-rated image], but WWE doesn’t make sense for Dodge Dart. WWE is very trashy and not appropriate for our target.”

WWE switched to a PG-rated format in 2008 in hopes of winning better advertisers after earning only $7.4 million in ad revenue that year. By 2013, WWE’s sponsorship income had rose to $20 million.

The upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view is being sponsored by Kay Jewelers as well as Toys R Us. In addition to TV ads, the companies are also being promoted across WWE’s social media pages.

  • The Real Reason WWE Released Brad Maddox: Foul Language?

As reported earlier, WWE announced the release of Brad Maddox from his contract on their official website today. It now appears there was something specific Maddox did this week that got him in hot water with WWE management.

PWInsider reports that Maddox was released due to language he used on the microphone before a dark match at this week’s SmackDown tapings. Prior to his dark match against R-Truth, he used the phrase “cocky pr*cks” in a promo.

WWE officials were so upset with the language, they issued Maddox his release from the company the day before Thanksgiving.

Maddox hadn’t been regularly used on WWE TV since he was fired as the on-air GM in 2014. He had been working house shows and dark matches prior to his release, and recently took part in The Undertaker’s skit on The Tonight Show.

  • Report: All Tentative WrestleMania 32 Matches Scrapped By WWE Creative Team

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported on Wednesday that all plans for WrestleMania 32 were scrapped by the WWE creative team on Sunday. He says the company had a list of tentative matches for the big event, and they all fell apart for one reason or another. In other words, Meltzer says reports circulating the web on potential matches are just guesses at this point.

“Anyone reporting on a ‘Mania card now is guessing,” Meltzer said on F4WOnline.com. “They had a complete top six matches and everything fell apart. Everything changed again on Sunday.”

We previously reported that John Cena and The Undertaker were being booked in a match for ‘Mania. As far as The Rock goes, right now it’s considered highly unlikely that he will even appear at the show, let alone wrestle at it. WWE is trying to stack WrestleMania 32 with star power to sell out the 100,000+ seat AT&A Stadium.

WrestleMania 32 takes place on April 3, 2016, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

  • Bubba & Devon Dudley Say WWE Needs To Have The Rock At WrestleMania 32

The Dudley Boyz were recently interviewed by Talk Sport’s Gorilla Nation podcast and explained why they feel WWE must have The Rock at WrestleMania 32.

Bubba says in order to get the 100,000+ tickets sold that Jim Ross and others have predicted, they need some serious star power.

Here’s what he had to say:

“If you’re going to try and put 100,000 people into the AT&T Stadium and have the biggest Wrestlemania of all time, to me that’s an all hands on deck show,” Bubba said. “Rocky, [Steve] Austin — whoever you can possibly get to be there to out 100,000 people in there.”

“You have Rocky on the show, and that means more people want to buy the show, more people want to come and see the show — bigger payoffs for everybody.”

“At the end of the day, it is business. Having guys like that with their superstar name power works for the show and is best for business, I say great,” Devon said.

“Rocky versus anybody is going to be entertaining. Rocky and Hunter — yes, we’ve seen it before, but those guys will definitely put on a match that’ll tear the house down.”

  • Former NXT Writer Rants About Current WWE Product

Former NXT creative team member Rob Naylor recently vented on Twitter about his frustrations with WWE’s direction. One of Naylor’s main complaints was that WWE shows use the “same template” every week, and that the company needs to change their method of pushing new blood on TV.

Naylor, who was hired by WWE in 2011 after working as an announcer for Dragon Gate USA, also complained that when employees speak up against the WWE product, they get punished. Naylor says he would be told he’s not a “good soldier” when he would complain about the material on RAW. He says it will take a “highly influential writer” to put their career on the line and tell Vince McMahon “how bad things are.”

He went on to say he has no doubt WWE will get better if they take a fresh approach. Here’s what Naylor had to say, in screenshot form in case the Tweets get deleted:

  • Jim Cornette Says He Would’ve Fired HHH & “Mental Case” HBK For MSG Curtain Call

The Madison Square Garden “curtain call” incident happened at a WWE (then WWF) live event on May 19, 1996 when Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash all broke character in the middle of the ring and hugged. Jim Cornette says if he was in charge of the company, Triple H would have been fired that same day.

The subject of the Kliq’s kayfabe-breaking incident at MSG recently came up on Cornette’s Corny’s Drive-Thru podcast on MLW Radio, and Cornette says he would have handled the incident a bit differently than Vince McMahon did.

With Kevin Nash and Scott Hall leaving the company for WCW immediately after the incident, he would have had to deal with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Cornette says he would have dealt with the lowest wrestler on the card first. Back in May ’96, this was current WWE executive and now Vince McMahon’s son-in-law Triple H.

“Yeah, I would have fired [Triple H], because he was a(n) … underneath mid card guy at best, that wasn’t necessarily really getting over at that f*****g point like gangbusters,” said Cornette. “And why the f**k that he would think that he had the status in the community just because he hung around with these guys and rode in a car with them and liked him being around because that way they could preserve their pecking order … There’s a hundred – a thousand other wrestlers who would love to be in Madison Square Garden tonight. And you think that you’re a special motherf****er after being here only a year or 18 months that you can go out … and expose the business?”

In regards to Shawn Michaels, Cornette said he would have booked him to lose his championship and put over other wrestlers, before eventually getting rid of him. Here’s what he had to say about the Heartbreak Kid:

“I would have said, ‘Okay, his two f**king friends are gone to WCW and they’re going to have some influence because they’ve got these big money contracts.’ They’re going to be pitching him so they can all be together. My champion. His loyalty is going to be suspect because he’s never proven to be loyal anyway. So while I’ve got him under contract right now, I need to figure out who is going to carry the belt in his place, I need to systematically get that guy over and get him ready to take it off [Michaels] and then I need to start beating the f**k out of this guy to get some other people over on his way out and then get rid of that f**king mental case, too, and then I’ll have much more peace and quiet in my f*****g locker room.”

  • Mick Foley About To Give Up On WWE, Sick Of Talent Being Portrayed As “Jokes”

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is on the verge of becoming a “former WWE fan” because he can’t stand how his favorite wrestlers are portrayed on TV. In a message posted on Facebook, Foley says the guys he roots for (Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and Kevin Owens) are treated like jokes and it’s no longer a good thing to be called up to the main roster. Foley wrote:

“I am one of those people on the verge of becoming a former WWE fan. I’m tired of being told through Raw, Smackdown and PPV’s that WWE superstars I have rooted for – from Ziggler to Cesaro to Kevin Owens aren’t top stars – no matter how strongly crowd reaction seems to disagree. I’m tired of NXT stars getting their big ‘break’ in WWE, just to be treated like jokes.”

Six months ago, Foley traveled 12 hours to see Sasha Banks wrestle Becky Lynch at NXT Takeover and thought it was one of the greatest women’s matches of all time. Last night, the two of them wrestled for 4 minutes on RAW in a throwaway match with little consequence. Foley says that if a long-time die-hard fan like him is ready to give up, it does not bode well for WWE’s mainstream appeal.

“If I leave, it’s not just one disgruntled former fan; finding something else to do on Monday nights. Instead, losing a long-time, die-hard fan like me might well be an indication of a larger exodus from WWE. I guess we’ll see what tale the ratings tell. I want to stay. I really do. So please WWE – next week on WWE Raw… Just give me a reason.”

As we reported earlier, Foley also made it clear on Twitter he was disappointed with WWE not giving Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch enough time for their match on RAW.

WKMG-TV in Orlando has obtained footage from the Performance Center shooting back in August. The video aired on their local newscast on Monday, and showed the moments leading up to a deputy shooting a crazed fan outside the building.

The trespasser is 29 year old Armando Montalvo, who had been showing up to the Performance Center multiple times. He at the time was reportedly “fixated” on an unnamed female NXT performer who was not present on the day of the incident. The police knew who the suspect was, as he has a criminal record involving violence and robbery. The police were called that day after he showed up to the Performance Center “acting deranged” with a knife.

He got shot in the chest after charging at a deputy. The video ends right before the shot is fired. His father would later tell investigators that Montalvo suffers from bipolar and manic depressive disorders.

Montalvo already had an injunction barring him from the WWE Training Center due to prior incidents. Montalvo had applied for a job but was rejected. In the newly released video footage, you can hear Montalvo yelling “Why don’t you train me to become your undisputed, best, NXT wrestler of all (expletive) time?”

Montalvo is out on bond and is scheduled for trial in February at the Orange County Courthouse.

    — Taz was recently interviewed by Wrestling Inc and gave his thoughts on what WWE should do with Roman Reigns’ character after Survivor Series. Here’s what he had to say about the possibility of turning Reigns heel:

“I knew there would be a tournament gimmick, and that’ll work perfect. It’s an opportunity for a guy like Roman Reigns, and people called in and said it was a great opportunity for Roman Reigns to turn heel. My point about that it’s cool if Reigns turns if he can, but you don’t turn a guy until he’s at his peak as a babyface. Roman Reigns is not at that spot. John Cena all those years has been, but usually you don’t turn him unless everyone’s connecting to him. Reigns has heat with some fans, and some love them.”
