  • Jim Ross Criticizes WWE’s Use Of Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler

WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross took to his blog at jrsbarbq.com to express his frustration over how WWE is handling Seth Rollins’ character on TV. He’s also scratching his head over why Dolph Ziggler isn’t used in a better position on WWE television. Here are some highlights:

On WWE’s booking of Seth Rollins:

“The booking of WWE Champion Seth Rollins to rarely win on TV and to be an enhanced chickensh!t heel is a head scratcher. I thoroughly understand the concept of the vulnerable antagonist but for one’s champion to rarely win on TV is questionable. The booking of Rollins needs addressing IMO.”

On John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler:

“Thought Cena and Ziggler stole the show but unfortunately the show stealer came early. Great opportunity for WWE to advance Ziggler to the US Title with Cena preparing to leave WWE for a short sabbatical. No idea why Ziggler isn’t used more prominently. He’s a helluva talent.”

On the booking of WWE diva Charlotte:

“Seemed as if WWE anointed Charlotte as their top female when she won the title but since then she’s not been featured. What am I missing here? I do like the way that the females have more people talking positively about them than in quite some time.”

Austin’s podcast with Lesnar is scheduled to be on the WWE Network directly following Raw.

  • Cesaro Speaks On The “Cesaro Section,” His Favorite Wrestlers to Work With, & More

Cesaro recently spoke with Upvoted.com to promote WWE and NXT. Here are some highlights:

    On the “Cesaro Section” trend:

“The first time I saw the Cesaro section was a couple years ago in Nashville and it was very cool. Since then, it has become even stronger. My favorite part about it is that it came organically and was the fans’ initiative in support of me which is very humbling and makes me proud. It is something that connects me with the fans and motivates me to keep doing what I’m doing.

I was not expecting that huge show of support [at the San Jose RAW taping] because it kind of slowed down at one point. After my two matches with John Cena it started to gain momentum again. When I walked out for the MIZ TV segment it was crazy and there were Cesaro Section signs everywhere—which was one of the coolest feelings I have had since joining WWE. After that, it just kept growing with more and more cities picking it up.”

His favorite wrestlers to work with:

“There are a lot of Superstars I love being in the ring with. I tend to have great chemistry with whomever I step in the ring with because of the way I train and came up in this business. If I had to name a few, I would say people like Sheamus, Kevin Owens, and John Cena are all great guys to be in the ring with.”

On NXT’s popularity, and his match with Sami Zayn at Arrival:

I would like to think it had some type of influence [on NXT’s popularity]. It was an honor to be the first match on the first live WWE Network special. That is something nobody can take away from me and it was a huge milestone I was involved in. That is something I am very proud of and is part of my “body of work” as Dream would say. It has helped make me who I am today, and it is definitely one of my favorite matches I have been a part of in WWE.

Marvel released the premise of the first issue of his new series today:

He lets his bloodthirsty quest for revenge take the pilot seat, of course! Determined to find and kill Thanos once and for all, Drax is ready to take on the universe. But when you’re tooling around the universe in a ship aptly named “The Space Sucker”, an unwavering desire for bloodshed isn’t enough to keep a mission from derailing. Drax crash lands into his wildest adventures ever, encountering foes no one will ever expect! The depths of space may not be big enough to contain this much grit, vengeance and all-out action!”

Here’s a look at the cover of Drax #1:

Hulk Hogan was recently interviewed by “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair for Ric’s WOOOOO! Nation podcast. The two Hall of Famers discussed their time in both WWE and TNA. You can stream or download the podcast here.

He has nothing bad to say about Vince or WWE, and says he knows he created some great memories there.

The two ring icons also got into the subject of TNA, where they both worked at the same time. Hogan was a member of the creative team during their runs in the company, and recalled the time he convinced Ric to take a clothesline from him while Ric was rolling down the ramp in a wheelchair. Flair was glad the crowd popped huge for the clothesline, because he says it’s hard to make the old Impact Zone pop as there are a lot of non-wrestling fans in attendance.

Dixie Carter is another person Hulk says he has nothing bad to say about, because she supported him through some tough surgeries. He did concede that being in TNA was a “tough gig.”

Flair put over James Storm and Bobby Roode as great talents. Flair also said that the decline for the company is due to “inconsistent booking” and having, “too many cooks in the kitchen.”

The Nature Boy revealed that TNA had him and Hulk delivered to and from the arena each night, and that most of their time in Orlando was spent at the hotel bar across the street.

  • Charlotte Speaks On NXT’s Growth, Calls Being Ric Flair’s Daughter A “Mixed Blessing”

WWE Divas Champion Charlotte recently talked to Busted Open Radio about her life in wrestling and being the Divas champ. Here are the highlights.

Charlotte on being Ric Flair’s daughter in the wrestling business:

I’m going to be honest – mixed blessing. First of all, having my dad there, following in his footsteps, winning the Divas Championship, him saying that this was probably the biggest thing that’s ever happened in his wrestling career knowing everything that he’s accomplished, knowing what we’ve been through as a family the last three years and winning – oh, I’m getting teary-eyed now. So it was a really big deal for us as a family and a huge moment for me that I will absolutely never forget. But I think too, it’s hard – mixed blessing, when I say that – is just because it’s like, dang, my Dad’s always around. So you kind of feel that, you feel the whole ‘Ric Flair’s daughter’ thing a lot. That’s what I mean by a mixed blessing. But in terms of ‘Seriously, I wish someone would pinch me and be like is this real?’ because I seriously can remember my first day in Tampa at FCW and when I stepped in the ring with Norman Smiley, I was legitimately shaking. I was so nervous. I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest. So I was like, ‘Oh my god, what did I decide to do?’ and then being Divas Champion three years later, I’m so blessed.

On being part of the NXT movement:

Honestly, it’s – I don’t know. I want to say destiny because, honestly, I never grew up wanting to be a wrestler. Watching both my brothers struggle in the wrestling business, being Flair’s kid. It wasn’t something that I ever was like, ‘I want to be the next Trish Stratus or I want to be the next Lita’. Triple H started NXT and then me being a part of it and then being there. A couple months later, Sasha [Banks] comes in and then Bayley comes in and then Becky Lynch and then the Four Horsewomen. It’s just something that must’ve been part of my plan, my bigger picture, but being able to see the growth of NXT and being able to look back in ten years and say, yeah, I was a part of – Paige was the first, I was the second, and then debuting and being on the first live event outside of Florida. Then, being on – I didn’t necessarily wrestle on that first special where it was Paige and Emma. But I had a backstage segment leading up to – I was going to feud with Paige, but then she became dual champion and then vacating the NXT title. I’m honored to be a part of that process and to watch it. Actually, I told someone the other day, I’m kind of jealous that NXT gets to go overseas and I’m not on NXT anymore. But being the Divas Champion, nothing tops that. I am beyond proud of what NXT has accomplished. It’s amazing.

    Being the Divas Champion:

It’s been two weeks now since the pay-per-view. I’m actually looking forward to all of the duties because I want to empower women. I want and I know, collectively, all the girls want to say we’re just not Divas. We are athletic, strong, intelligent athletes. Yeah, we’re Divas, but we’re also WWE Superstars and that we have the capability to main-event just like Sasha and Bayley are in NXT this week. They deserve to main-event. That will be a match of the year candidate. To be able to be on the main roster now as Divas Champion, I know when I was in NXT watching us slowly – Sasha and I Main Evented Philly, then them Main Eventing a special, me being Divas Champion up here. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that I have lofty goals and that I just want to open the doors for women in terms of Main Eventing on a bigger scale, the main roster, and what we’ve been able to do at NXT and gain the respect like we did at NXT on the main roster.

Busted Open airs Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-4PM EST on Sirius XM Channel 93 and on the SiriusXM App.

  • Jimmy Snuka’s Attorney Says Murder Investigation Was A “Sham”

    Jimmy Snuka trial

Jimmy Snuka appeared in court today for a hearing in LeHigh Valley, PA where the prosecution and defense both agreed they would bypass preliminary hearings in the case against Snuka. The WWE Hall Of Famer is charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the 1983 death of his then girlfriend, Nancy Argentino in Allentown, PA.

Snuka’s only comment to the public came through his attorney Robert Kirwan, who said the death was “simply an unfortunate accident, not murder.”

“The sooner this gets brought to court, to a jury, the better,” Kirwin said. “It’s not a day he dreads. It’s a day of freedom for him.”

Kirwan said Argentino’s death investigation by the grand jury was a “sham,” because hearsay testimony was allowed.

“He is not dreading this trial. He’s looking forward to clearing his name. and I expect him to be found innocent of all charges,” Kirwan told The Morning Call.

Kirwan noted that Snuka’s health has improved following surgery. He was hospitalized to remove 3/4ths of his stomach and several lymph nodes. Snuka will be starting chemotherapy and possibly radiation treatments, as long as his health allows.

    Snuka is currently awaiting arraignment.

  • Hogan On New Gawker Case Developments: “It’s A Beautiful Day”

A third party forensic investigation of Gawker’s computers has been approved. There will be an in-depth search of their offices to discover whether the company had illegally leaked transcripts of the Hulk Hogan sex tapes to the National Enquirer and RadarOnline.com, which led to Hogan’s WWE firing.

According to F4WOnline.com, Gawker could lose the equivalent of a summary judgment if they were found to be behind the leak, which would be the best case scenario for Hogan, as it would avoid having to go through a highly public and embarrassing trial.

Hogan was so happy with these proceedings he exclaimed that “It’s a beautiful day,” as he left the courtroom. Prior to the forensic investigation being approved, fifteen separate documents were sealed in the interest of Hogan’s privacy.

These developments are clearly not in Gawker’s favor and they vented their frustration over the judge’s decision to keep most of the lawsuit’s confidential records sealed in an official statement afterwards:

“Given the obvious public interest in this case, it is truly unfortunate that a large number of records remain hidden, and that the public is prevented from seeing both sides’ arguments and the basis for many of the court’s most significant rulings, The public should be able to know what happens in its court system.?”
