    Update on MJF’s AEW Salary

Some details on MJF’s current pay in AEW have been reported.

MJF is no doubt AEW’s top heel but there has been some dissension as of late. Maxwell’s contract with AEW is set to expire in 2024.

He’s made it no secret that he plans on testing free agency when the time comes. He’s even referenced WWE numerous times on AEW TV.

Reports have surfaced claiming that MJF hasn’t been too happy with his pay as he feels he’s outperformed his current salary.

    What Is MJF’s AEW Salary?

PWTorch reports that MJF signed a starter deal with AEW back in 2019. This ranges from $40,000 to $70,000 per year.

With that said, the report notes that Maxwell is now making “hundreds of thousands of dollars.” It still pales in comparison to the salaries of some big names AEW has hired.

The PWTorch report notes that the gap in pay is a big reason why MJF has been at odds with AEW President Tony Khan.

MJF took the wrestling world by storm during AEW Double or Nothing weekend. He no-showed a meet and greet and had everyone wondering whether or not he’d appear at the PPV.

Ultimately, MJF did show up to do the job for Wardlow and an angle was shot where he was stretchered out of the arena.

AEW Star Flips The Bird at Vince McMahon’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame

One AEW star has given Vince McMahon’s Hollywood Walk of Fame the finger.

It’s no secret that some AEW and WWE stars have engaged in some banter on social media in a show of gamesmanship. Some of the back-and-forth exchanges are in jest while others are a bit more heated.

We’ll put this one in the fun category.

Max Caster of The Acclaimed is in Los Angles for tonight’s (June 1) AEW Dynamite show. He took to Vince McMahon’s Hollywood Walk of Fame and had a little “sign language” as Stone Cold Steve Austin used to say.

Vince received the Hollywood Walk of Fame honor back in March 2008. The honor was awarded to him for years of turning WWE into a TV success.

SEScoops will have you covered tonight with live results for AEW Dynamite from Los Angeles.

Chris Jericho Talks Going Public About his Niece Being Bullied at School

Chris Jericho stood up for every victim of bullying by publishing a video of his niece being attacked at school, the AEW star has claimed.

Last month, Jericho shared a concerning video that showed his niece being attacked outside Mulrennan Middle School while a gathering of other students watched.

Jericho also claimed that Hillsborough County Public Schools had ignored the pleas of his family for help and threatened to take this incident to ABC Action News and WFLA.

During an interview with KTLA, Jericho explained his reasoning for sharing the footage online.

“My niece was bullied very badly in Tampa, there’s video of it which is very brutal. I wanted to try and put some light to it, not just because she’s my niece, but because the situation was horrible. I wanted to stand up for her and everybody else that’s been bullied, every other kid that doesn’t have a famous uncle who can go on Twitter and post that video.”

Jericho added that while the school has taken action, this only came about because of him posting the video online.

“They patted themselves on the back after disciplining the bully. There are warning signs that need to be moved on, and need to be addressed. Action needs to be taken.”

Jericho last competed at AEW Double or Nothing 2022 where the Jericho Appreciation Society defeated Bryan Danielson, Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz and Jon Moxley.

  • Adam Cole Injury Update

    Adam Cole Injury Update

It appears Adam Cole is a bit banged up.

Fans were a bit puzzled when AEW pulled Adam Cole and Jeff Hardy from a tag team match scheduled for the June 1 episode of Dynamite. While Hardy being removed was easier to see coming as he’s been noticeably hurt, that wasn’t exactly the case with Cole.

Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Live that Cole has an injured shoulder. He’s getting some time off from in-ring action to heal.

The extent of Adam Cole’s shoulder injury is unknown at this time.

Cole competed in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup against Samoa Joe this past Sunday at AEW Double or Nothing. Cole scored the pin to capture the specially made championship and trophy.

Adam Cole has confirmed he will be making an appearance on Dynamite this week. He has called out Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil, a popular video game YouTuber and Twitch streamer.

Former WWE Star on Whether or Not He’ll Return to AEW

A former WWE star recently made an appearance on AEW TV and he wonders if he’ll be brought back.

On the May 20 episode of AEW Rampage, Big Damo appeared as a mystery opponent for Shawn Spears. AEW was running a story where Spears portrayed himself as a giant killer en route to a steel cage match with Wardlow.

Spears ended up scoring the pin over Damo, who went by the name “Killian Dain” in WWE.

    Is Big Damo AEW Bound?

Big Damo appeared on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast and expressed his hope that AEW will give him another call.

“Everybody there was so enthusiastic, so you never know. If it happens, great. If it doesn’t happen, then at least I had a cool experience.

“So for me, I wasn’t sure if AEW was ever going to be on the table because they were the one company who never really got in touch when I first got released. I had heard maybe it was because I was having status issues when I first got released. But at the same time, you just start thinking, well, ‘I’ll go on, I’ll do whatever I can elsewhere, and maybe that opportunity can come one day.’”

Damo also said that AEW felt like WWE when it came to production values. He said that a key difference was that he didn’t feel he had to walk on eggshells during his AEW appearance.

Major Update on MJF’s Whereabouts Ahead of AEW Dynamite

Could things be taking a positive turn between MJF and AEW?

MJF was the talk of Double or Nothing weekend. Fans were left wondering if Maxwell would even show up at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the show.

He failed to appear at a scheduled meet and greet on Saturday, forcing AEW to offer refunds and exchanges for those who paid to see MJF.

There was a later disputed report of a flight being booked for MJF out of Las Vegas. Ultimately, Maxwell showed up on Sunday and did the job for Wardlow at DoN.

He was stretchered out of the arena after the match.

MJF In The Area Of AEW Dynamite

PWInsider is reporting that MJF was seen at LAX on Tuesday afternoon. This week’s AEW Dynamite will be taking place in Los Angeles.

This could be a good sign as it was said that MJF and Tony Khan would be having a meeting in Las Vegas. Assuming they had the meeting, MJF’s presence in Los Angles could indicate that the face-to-face talk went well.

PWTorch reported that MJF was “in a bad place” on Saturday and had no business making a public appearance in the state he was in.

Ruby Soho recently spoke about Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out on WWE before an episode of Monday Night Raw. When the walkout happened, many people across the internet and different promotions began to give their own opinions. Sasha and Naomi have not yet commented on the incident. However, Ruby Soho, a former co-worker of theirs, has.

Ruby Soho On Her Relationship With Sasha & Naomi

When speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports, Ruby revealed that she supports both women and how they decided to stand up for themselves and their careers.

Ruby said, “I’m a very firm believer in everybody’s career and everybody’s experiences are different. No matter what company you work for, no matter who you are or what level you feel like you’re on or what level people portray you to be on. I feel like everyone’s experiences are different.

I have for a long time considered Sasha and Naomi to be friends of mine. If that in the moment and in their heart of hearts is what they felt like they needed to do, then I can only understand from an outside perspective because you never know with that kind of stuff.”

Ruby Soho On Sasha & Naomi Walking Out

The AEW star continued, “You never know what they’re experiencing, what their journey is like to that point, and why they felt like they needed to do what they needed to do. But at the end of the day, you can only just try and see them for who they are as people, and I adore them. So whatever they felt like they needed to do, I understand. Everybody handles things differently. Everybody has different experiences. So until you’re in the shoes of that person, you can’t always say what you would do.

It’s definitely one of those things where I’m glad that they did what was best for them and what they felt was right at the time. I’m always for people standing up for themselves regardless of the circumstances. So if that’s what they felt like they needed to do. 100%.”

MJF Missed AEW Meet & Greet As He Was “In No Place To Be In Public”

A recent AEW Meet & Greet had to go ahead without MJF as the “Salt of the Earth” was in “no place” to meet the fans.

MJF has been at odds with AEW President Tony Khan over his current contract, which MJF has made clear will expire in January 2024.

The Dynamite Diamond Ring winner has also teased joining WWE though some have questioned if this is all part of his character.

During a recent PWTorch.com audio show, Wade Keller detailed the issues between MJF and Khan and why the wrestler no-showed the recent Meet & Greet prior to Double or Nothing 2022.

“The way it was portrayed to us is MJF was in no place to be in public. He was in a bad place. And so it just seemed if not mutually agreed upon [it was] pretty obvious to everybody that it would be good for him to not make a public appearance.

“People in AEW were hoping that Tony and MJF could sit down and hash out their differences. There was just hope that cooler heads would prevail. Tony Khan on social media can come across sometimes as defensive.”

“MJF was in no place to be in public. He was in a bad place.”

    Wade Keller

The issue between MJF and Khan is reportedly over money as the wrestler is earning substantially less than others in the promotion.

Keller explained that while MJF has received a raise, it is still less than several free agents signed to AEW contracts over the past year.

“MJF was given a raise once since he signed with AEW. So he’s making substantially more than the starter contract, like hundreds of thousands of dollars but it is modest compared to the contracts of more than a half a dozen free-agent signings AEW has made over the past year.”

Keller named Christian, Mark Henry, Malakai Black, Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk as just some names signed to better deals than the “Salt of the Earth.”

He added that while MJF’s segments do better than most, his pay doesn’t reflect that performance.

MJF appeared at Double or Nothing 2022 where he lost to Wardlow, who earned a contract with AEW due to his win.

MJF was stretchered out of the arena after the match, indicating that he is being written off TV for the time being.

  • Update on Jeff Hardy’s Condition During AEW Double or Nothing

Update on Jeff Hardy’s Condition During AEW Double or Nothing

An update on Jeff Hardy’s condition during the AEW Double or Nothing PPV has surfaced.

The Hardy Boys took on The Young Bucks at DoN this past Sunday night and fans weren’t exactly left with an instant classic. In fact, many felt that Jeff look quite lethargic throughout the match.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer is reporting that Jeff Hardy was a “mess” going into that match. It’s been said that Jeff’s Owen Hart Cup quarterfinals match with Darby Allin really did a number on him.

At one point in the match with Darby, Jeff went for a Swanton Bomb but Darby got out of the way and Jeff’s back landed right on the stairs.

Many have grown concerned with Jeff Hardy’s use in AEW.

Approaching the age of 45 in late August, Jeff is still allowed to do high spots that many agree he should not be doing at this point in his career.

It’s become quite clear that The Hardy Boys have been pulling out their greatest hits collection since they know this is their final run.

CM Punk Addresses Botches During AEW World Title Win at Double or Nothing

CM Punk may have captured his first World Championship in nine years at last weekend’s Double or Nothing event, but the match with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page did see some mistakes.

During the match, Punk attempted Page’s Buckshot Lariat twice and botched both attempts.

On both occasions, the former WWE Champion failed to land the front flip over the top rope that sets up the move.

While Punk followed through with the lariat the second time the fans weren’t impressed by the error.

Speaking on the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum, Punk said that this was his first time botching the move.

“That’s one of those f*cking things. That’s the only time that I’ve missed it since I’ve tried it, and I did it on TV, and I just didn’t hit it for whatever reason, and it sucks. But that’s the fun thing about pro wrestling, I’m more comfortable when sh*t goes f*cking sideways, and not everything needs to look perfect, in my opinion. I’ll probably beat myself up about it way too much, but, you know, mistakes happen.”

“That’s one of those f*cking things. That’s the only time that I’ve missed.”

Matt Hardy Details Conversation With Vince McMahon Before Leaving WWE

Matt Hardy had an honest conversation with Vince McMahon before leaving WWE. According to him, the boss appreciated his honesty.

The AEW star talked about the end of his last WWE run on the latest episode of his podcast. He claimed that while Mr. McMahon still saw value in him, the boss had started seeing him more as a producer than an in-ring talent.

Hardy on the other hand thought that he still had gas left in the tank. So he decided to just tell this directly to the chairman of the boards:

“I just told him, ‘I know how you see me,’ you’re trying to move me to a producer role, and I’m not ready to do that quite yet. I’m ready to still finish up in the ring, I know I have a few more years left and I’m going to go until it’s time for me to step out.”

Revealing Mr. McMahon’s reaction to the conversation, Matt Hardy said that the boss respected this truth because so many people try to lie to him:

“He absolutely respected that and he said ‘Well, thank you for being honest,’ because so many people just bullsh*t him all the time … They knew where I was going to end up.”

Matt Hardy also revealed that Triple H had pitched the idea of him leading a faction in NXT while also working as a coach for younger talents to try and keep him in the company. Hardy left WWE in March 2020.

There is no word yet on why either of these names were removed from the match. It’s possible that one of them may not have been cleared to compete and the other was simply removed to balance things out.

Jake Atlas Arrested, Charged With Domestic Assault

Jake Atlas (Kenny Sanchez) has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery (domestic assault).

The police report obtained by PWinsider.com notes it happened on May 23 after police responded to the domestic violence call at 12:57 AM.

Atlas was out drinking and called his partner to come pick him up, which led to him wanting his partner to drink with him and then go with him back to a female friend’s house to take part in sexual activities. His partner said in the report, “he [the partner] showed the female half more attention than Atlas, which upset Atlas. This started a huge verbal argument between him and Atlas.”

Atlas allegedly became physically aggressive and charged his partner. A witness stepped in to prevent an attack. Although Atlas’ partner left, he followed and attempted to attack. Atlas scratched his victim and tore his tank top before the witness separated them.

The witness agreed to let Atlas in to get his dog but didn’t leave. His partner then called the police, feeling Atlas would not leave or calm down. Atlas signed a no-contact order agreeing to have no communication and to stay 500 feet away from the victim on the same day he was arrested. He was released from jail and is set to appear before Orange County, Florida court on June 28 where he will be officially arraigned.

Atlas is currently recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered during an AEW Rampage taping in January and underwent surgery in February.

This caused AEW officials to scramble at the last minute and offer refunds and exchanges to fans who paid for the session.

  • Tony Khan Says The Length of AEW Double Or Nothing Helped Make The Show A Commercial Success

Tony Khan Says The Length of AEW Double Or Nothing Helped Make The Show A Commercial Success

Last night AEW held their annual Double or Nothing pay-per-view from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas Nevada, the promotion’s first major event from Sin City since the inaugural Double or Nothing back in 2019.

Company President Tony Khan spoke with the wrestling media in the post-Double or Nothing scrum, where he touched on a number of different topics, including addressing fan concerns that the event ran too long. It clocked in at around 4 hours and 40 minutes.

Khan begins by admitting that he did add some length to Double or Nothing to help them out commercially as the show was going up against Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

“I ended up adding a little bit to the length of the show to help the show commercially and help the show make money. I think it made, if not a seven-figure difference, at least a six-figure difference.”

On that subject he adds that if not for the stiff competition he may have ended the show a little sooner, which would coincide with the length of previous AEW PPVs.

“I probably would have ended the show the same time they always end. We’ve done a lot of the best pay-per-views anyone’s ever done, they’ve all ended between 11:40 and 11:55-ish, 11:56, 11:57 on the east coast.”

While Khan seems pretty happy with the show length he isn’t opposed to shortening events in the future. He tells the media that fan feedback is important to him, and he will do his best to listen and adjust for the future.

“I will listen to the feedback of the fans. Revolution had pretty good response and commercially the show was really successful, and had similar length bell to bell… But like I said, I’ll listen to the feedback. This was a unique circumstance.”

Double or Nothing saw the crowning of the Owen Hart tournament come to an end, the debuts of Athena and Stokely Hathaway, and CM Punk becoming the promotion’s fifth world champion.

William Regal On Who Talked Him Into Joining AEW

William Regal was ready to finally take some time off from wrestling after over three decades following his WWE release, but Bryan Danielson talked him into joining AEW.

The former NXT General Manager recently had an interview with Talk Sport. He discussed things such as the formation of the Blackpool Combat Club and more.

Speaking about his release from WWE, Regal said that he was ready to take a year off to just guide his son. However, Bryan reached out to him about joining AEW:

“I was ready to just have a year off and do nothing but talk with my son and guide him through what he’s doing. And then Bryan called me. And if it hadn’t of been Bryan calling me, I wouldn’t probably be here now. Nobody else would have talked me into this.”

William Regal said that Danielson is like another son to him. He then explained how quickly his AEW deal was put together:

“We have a 22-year relationship, but he is like another son to me. There was just no questions asked. It was to come and do something with Bryan, but they didn’t even tell me what. ‘Course I will, yeah.’ A few days later, I was having conversations with AEW and then two weeks later I was at the pay-per-view,”

Regal was released from his WWE contract in January this year. He made his surprise AEW debut during the Revolution PPV in March. He broke up a fight between Danielson and Jon Moxley and later formed a team with them.

‘It’s F*cking Bullshit’: Tony Khan Fires Back At Eric Bischoff For Saying CM Punk Is A Financial Flop

Tony Khan has fired back at Eric Bischoff for calling CM Punk ‘the biggest financial flop in wrestling history.’

The Double or Nothing PPV saw AEW finally pulling the trigger on the Straight Edge star. He beat Hangman Page to become the new AEW world champion. After the show, Punk was asked about his very public feud with the former WCW president. Khan, however, took it upon himself to reply to Bischoff and claimed that it’s ‘f*cking bullshit’:

“That’s fucking bullshit.” said Tony Khan, “I can tell — there’s only one person who can attest to that. I don’t what other people — I can only attest to what’s happened here, and in public record, and some of these things are a matter of public record, because of things of freedom of information and stuff. We do have over the years a good amount of financial data in pro wrestling.”

No One Has Made A Bigger Difference: Tony Khan

It all started when Eric Bischoff said that AEW needs to stop catering to a specific audience. CM Punk responded by saying that fans should let “bad-take carnies” die in the dark. This is when the former wrestling promoter called out Punk and claimed that he has not been a financial success. Though according to Tony Khan, their new world champion has made a more positive impact than any other star:

“I can tell you, like no one wrestler has ever come in and made a bigger plus-delta financial difference in the history of my company going into, this is the third-year anniversary this week, going into year four no one person has ever made a more positive impact. We just did a record pay-per-view buy. Every PPV we’ve done, he’s done a four PPV cycle now, ever one of them was the record.”

Tony Khan also noted how CM Punk was the guy he put on Rampage when they clashed against SmackDown last year. He mentioned that WWE admitted to their loss in that face off and it’s a ‘matter of record in a f*cking court.’ The AEW Owner said that Punk is ‘the biggest part of financial success’ in the history of his promotion.

  • Update on MJF’s Status Following AEW Double or Nothing

Update on MJF’s Status Following AEW Double or Nothing

MJF made a quick exit after AEW Double or Nothing and an update on his immediate future has surfaced.

The weekend of DoN was a hectic one for AEW officials. MJF and Samoa Joe failed to attend meet and greets but their situations couldn’t have been more different.

Joe didn’t attend Fan Fest because he was accidentally double-booked. He already had voice commitments during that time so he isn’t at fault.

MJF, however, no-showed the festivities due to lingering issues with AEW.

The situation was tense enough that Fightful reported there was a plane booked for MJF set to fly out of Las Vegas one night before Double or Nothing.

PWInsider later reported that the plane was indeed booked for Newark, New Jersey but MJF stayed in “Sin City.”

    MJF’s Future With AEW

MJF did indeed show up at DoN and was squashed by Wardlow in the opening match. An angle was then shot where MJF was stretchered out of the building.

PWInsider is reporting that MJF isn’t expected to be on the road for the next several weeks. That period could be even longer, the report notes.

Fightful also reported that MJF showed up at T-Mobile Arena just before the match and immediately made his exit after.

Tony Khan Declines To Comment On MJF Situation

Tony Khan has decided not to make any public comments about the MJF situation that occurred before the Double Or Nothing PPV this Sunday.

The AEW president and owner took part in the post-media scrum after the big event. As expected, the very first question he was asked was about the young star but he declined to comment on the situation:

“I’m not gonna comment on that,” said Tony Khan, “I’ve got a lot of stuff from the pay-per-view that I can comment on, but I’m not going to comment on that.”

MJF has been unhappy with his current contract for a while. He has been looking to get a raise and has made public comments about how he should be paid more.

The situation escalated yesterday when the 26-year-old missed a scheduled meet and greet event and officials couldn’t contact him.

This started many rumors about his status for Sunday’s PPV. He wasn’t seen in the arena early in the day. AEW also stopped advertising his match with Wardlow for a bit and people were not sure about his status for the show hours before the event.

MJF did finally show up and competed in the opening match of the night. However, a report from Fightful select noted that he arrived “shortly before his match, left right after, and has a lot to think about.”

Now Tony Khan’s refusal to comment on the whole situation reaffirms that the dispute between the two parties is real. There is a lot of work that needs to be done before they are on the same page again.
