Things paid off for Cody as he was finally able to defeat Black. After the match, the “House of Black” took to his Instagram account to explain why he feels even in defeat, he has won.

“The entire world is a graveyard, and if you think this was about putting my shoulders on the mat; you’re rudely mistaken. My job was to destroy you and your world. The entire world hates you, you’ve become the beast I set out to make you, and I was willing to sacrifice my blood for it. Enjoy the seeds I planted for months. House always wins.”

Black decimated Cody on the Homecoming edition of Dynamite when they first met. Cody teased stepping away from the ring for a while when Malakai Black nailed him with Black Mass after the match. Black then won their rematch at AEW Grand Slam by spitting mist in Cody’s eyes and rolling him up for the pinfall.

Last night’s episode of Dynamite saw the former champion facing Kingston in a first round AEW world title eliminator tournament match. At one point during the bout, Lance Archer tried to hit a moonsault off the top rope. However, he couldn’t rotate completely and landed on his head.

The referee and Doctor Sampson both checked on the AEW star. The officials then wrapped up the match quickly and Kingston rolled his opponent for the win. The injured star will obviously be going through more testing. Though his tweet and the fact that he was able to walk back to the locker room area by himself are positive news for his fans. We’ll keep you updated on his status.

  • Former WWE Champion Appears On Dynamite

Former WWE Champion Appears On Dynamite

Former WWE cruiserweight champion Tony Nese made an appearance on this week’s Saturday night Dynamite. He was shown as a part of the crowd during the opening bout of the night.

The show opened with the AEW world title eliminator tournament match between Bryan Danielson and Dustin Rhodes. The former WWE star was shown on the screen during the bout and referred to as “one of the hot free agents in pro wrestling.”

After wrestling for promotions such as Impact Wrestling and others for a few years, Nese made his WWE debut as part of the cruiserweight classic tournament in 2016.

He made his main roster debut during the September 26 episode of Raw the same year. He lost a singles match against the then cruiserweight champion T.J. Perkins.

Tony Nese became a regular member of the cruiserweight division after this. He wrestled on main event and later 205 live in addition to Raw.

He won a tournament to determine the #1 contender for the cruiserweight title prior to WrestleMania 35. The high-flying star went on to defeat Buddy Murphy for the championship in the pre-show of the PPV.

Tony was released from his WWE contract on June 25. Now we will have to see what AEW has planned for him.

New AEW Full Gear Championship Match Announced

All Elite Wrestling has confirmed that Dr. Britt Baker will defend the Women’s World championshipC against Tay Conti at the upcoming AEW Full Gear PPV.

This week’s episode of Rampage saw the current champion successfully defending her title against Anna Jay. She then unleashed a post-match assault on Jay.

Conti came out to make the save for The Dark Order member. She held the women’s title high after sending Baker in retreat, suggesting that she is next in line for a shot at the belt.

AEW then confirmed on this week’s episode of Dynamite that the #1 ranked female star on the roster will get a chance to win the championship at the upcoming PPV.

The episode also featured a Britt Baker interview segment hosted by Tony Schiavone. The champion claimed that Toy Conti has done nothing in AEW except showing off her a%* and she will beat her at Full Gear.

This is the second championship match that has been confirmed for the show. Hangman Page previously won a ladder match to earn the right to challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW world title at the upcoming PPV.

AEW Full Gear this year will be taking place on Saturday, November 13. The show will air live from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  • Tony Khan Recalls Pitching Darby Allin Pairing To Sting

Tony Khan Recalls Pitching Darby Allin Pairing To Sting

AEW founder Tony Khan has reflected on the time he first pitched teaming up with Darby Allin to Sting.

Sting and Darby have been aligned since late 2020. Many believe the two are a perfect pairing and that Sting’s wealth of knowledge has been a great asset to Darby.

Speaking to Z100 New York, Khan looked back at the time he first told Sting about the idea of pairing him with Darby Allin.

“When he first talked to me, I said, ‘There’s a young kid, please look at him because I think you’d be so great together and it’d be such a great pairing.’ And now, in real life, they’re such close friends, and they’re such a big part of each other’s life. They have so much in common. They’re both these straightedge, gray-hearted people who do all this great work, charitable stuff for kids. Neither of them does drugs, drink, nothing, and they’re both completely straightedge, and they’re both just so cool and have so much in common. But they had never met, and bringing them together and now seeing what it’s become to people around the world, it’s one of my favorite things about wrestling.”

Since making his AEW debut, many have been surprised by Sting’s performances in the ring. After all, he suffered a scary injury in a match against Seth Rollins back in 2015 and it appeared his in-ring career was over. Sting has since had a few matches in AEW and most agree he’s looked better than he has in years.

    Not bad for a 62-year-old.

As for Darby, he’s one of the bright young stars of AEW. He’s currently involved in a feud with another young star in MJF. The two are expected to clash at the Full Gear PPV on Nov. 13.

Paul Wight Teases Wrestling On Tonight’s Dynamite

Paul Wight is teasing lacing up his boots and stepping back inside the squared circle for a match during this week’s episode of Saturday night Dynamite. The heavyweight star recently had an interview with Brandon Kravitz podcast. He discussed having ring rust before his AEW debut match after not having wrestled for over a year and more.

Wight also teased getting physical at the Dynamite episode from Orlando. He said that he is having the itch to lace up his boots once again this Saturday:

“I might be lacing up my boots this Saturday, it’s about that itch. It has been a little bit so I’m bringing my gear bag with me, So if you come to the event in Orlando, you might see my big ass in the ring. Where else are you going to see 400lbs of spandex, brother? That alone is worth the price of admission. ”

This will be only the third match for Paul Wight if he does wrestle at Dynamite tonight. He made his in ring debut against QT Marshall at All Out and then defeated CPA, RSP & VSK in a three-on-one handicap match on September 22 Elevation.

Though it’s worth mentioning here that AEW has not officially announced a match for the former champion as of this writing. So his status for the show is still up in the air.

While Renee Paquette is open to joining the AEW roster one day, she doesn’t have any immediate plans for it. According to her, she hasn’t talked to president Tony Khan about the possibility.

The former WWE star recently spoke to Ariel Helwani. She discussed things such as her decision to leave WWE, how she feels watching Jon Moxley in the ring, and more.

She was then asked the question everyone has in mind about a potential AEW signing, now that her WWE non-compete is up. Paquette was asked if she has had any talks with Khan, to which she replied negatively:

“No, I’ve never talked to Tony Khan about it, ever. It’s never come up, I’m sure there could be a million different things that I could do there. I’m certainly open to the opportunity.”

Paquette discussed how a lot of her friends are in AEW. She said that maybe one day the other shoe will drop and she will join the company. Though she isn’t sure when that might happen.

  • Quote: I Feel Dan Lambert Is Getting X-Pac Heat

Quote: I Feel Dan Lambert Is Getting X-Pac Heat

One well-known wrestling host believes that Dan Lambert’s type of heat isn’t the good kind.

Depending on who you ask, Lambert is either taking others to school with his promo work, or he’s getting “go away” heat. Lambert has been brought in to manage The Men of The Year, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. Page and Sky have been enjoying great success as a team, scoring two victories over The Inner Circle.

Chris Van Vliet Thinks Dan Lambert Isn’t Getting “Real” Heat

During an interview with Wrestling Inc, Chris Van Vliet expressed his belief that the chorus of boos Dan Lambert gets each week probably has little to do with his character or his mic skills.

“Now is he getting real heat or is he getting ‘X-Pac heat? Maybe it’s a combination of both, but I was watching the other day, and Dan Lambert comes out to cut a promo and people just instinctively hate him and I feel like that is X-Pac heat. This is no disrespect to X-Pac who we both love and have a tremendous amount of respect for, but we understand what the terminology means here.

“I think it’s more that it did feel like it came out of nowhere. It felt like it came out of nowhere, and he was getting all of this mic time when I felt like there were all these other people on the roster that could have really benefited from this mic time. And you’re making him the manager for Ethan Page, tremendous on the mic himself, Scorpio Sky, tremendous on the mic himself. It’s not like they really needed a mouthpiece, and I just thought it was strange.”

Regardless of how you feel, Lambert has a prominent role on AEW TV. He has brought in members of his MMA gym, American Top Team such as Jorge Masvidal, Junior dos Santos, and Paige VanZant. We’re likely going to get a 10-man tag team match at Full Gear between all members of The Inner Circle and The Men Of The Year, who could be teaming up with three members of ATT.

Chris Jericho Responds To ‘Cosplay Competition’ Remark From Eric Bischoff

Chris Jericho has responded to Eric Bischoff calling the rivalry between AEW and WWE a cosplay competition. His boss Tony Khan previously called the remarks amusing. The former world champion took on his Twitter to respond to the former WCW president. He claimed that AEW has decreased the market share of their competitors:

“Not sure what a “cosplay competition” is Eric, but @WWE market share has definitely been decreased by @AEW. To the point whenever they forced themselves into “real head to head competition” w us (most recently last Fri) they lost. I’m gonna shut the fuck up now & keep wrestling.”

Eric Bischoff On The Competition Of AEW and WWE

The comments Chris Jericho is referring to came during a recent episode of 83 weeks. Bischoff claimed that he was actually having a real competition with Vince McMahon:

“And by the way, Tony, in 1996 I was kicking WWE’s ass. Every week! In a real head-to-head competition, not a cosplay competition.”

Bischoff was discussing how Tony Khan said he wouldn’t make the mistakes of WCW. The WCW official also claimed that Khan is inventing some new mistakes. His advice to the AEW owner would be to shut up and focus on his own product.

Chris Van Vliet On His Contractual Status With AEW

Chris Van Vliet has revealed that his deal with All Elite Wrestling was on per appearance basis and he is not under contract with the company.

The Emmy-winning TV host recently had an interview with WrestlingInc. He discussed things such as the current landscape of professional wrestling and more.

Speaking of his appearance on the Inaugural episode of Dynamite in 2019, Van Vliet revealed that he was only asked to be a part of that one episode:

“I was only asked to be part of the first show, I was asked to be part of that first episode of Dynamite October 2 live from Washington D.C., and that was it.”

Chris made another appearance for the promotion a few weeks later but he hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since. Revealing his contractual status with them, the wrestling journalist claimed that he never signed a contract to begin with:

“I never signed a contract. It was just like, ‘Do you want to be part of the first episode?’ I went, ‘Yes I do.’ It was so cool. Here we are, Dynamite just had its two-year anniversary recently. So cool to think that was two years ago.”

Chris Van Vliet also discussed how the wrestling landscape has changed since the Dynamite premiere and commented on the faults of the current TV rating system.

  • Tony Khan Reflects On Meeting Dan Lambert & Jorge Masvidal

Tony Khan Reflects On Meeting Dan Lambert & Jorge Masvidal

AEW founder Tony Khan has taken a look back at how he first met Dan Lambert and Jorge Masvidal.

Dan Lambert runs the renowned American Top Team MMA gym. Masvidal is a UFC fighter who trains at ATT. As of late, we’ve been seeing both Lambert and Masvidal appear on AEW TV. Masvidal has even landed his famous flying knee on Chris Jericho twice.

Tony Khan Was Introduced To Dan Lambert By Jorge Masvidal

During an interview with Z100 New York, Tony Khan discussed how it was Masvidal who introduced him to Lambert.

“The way it happened is, and I’ve never told the whole story before– about a year and a half, a few months before the pandemic, in the beginning of 2020, I had dinner with [Jorge] Masvidal in Miami and we just talked business,” Khan revealed. “We had a great talk, and then they told me, ‘American Top Team, Dan Lambert, have you heard of him?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, from Impact? He was Bobby Lashley’s manager in Impact. He did a really nice job,’ and they said, ‘He’s a huge fan in real life. And that’s the deal, he’s the biggest wrestling fan.’ I was like, ‘Oh, really? He’s pretty good, with a good personality. I’d love to meet him sometime,’ and they’re like, ‘Do you want to meet him right now?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, have him come over and hang out.’ So he came over to where we were having dinner. Fastest friends ever.”

Khan went on to say that he and Lambert became good friends. The AEW boss praised ATT’s leader for his love and knowledge of the wrestling business.

Lambert currently manages The Men of the Year, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. The team has two victories over The Inner Circle and is trying to make it three in a row. The Inner Circle has issued a 10-man tag team match challenge to The Men of The Year and ATT.

Eric Bischoff Believes Tony Khan Is ‘Not Serving His Business’ With His Tweets

While Tony Khan is highly excited with Rampage beating SmackDown in the key demo ratings during their recent competition, Eric Bischoff believes it wasn’t really a victory for AEW. The former WCW president continued talking about the outspoken nature of the AEW owner on his 83 weeks podcast.

He first said that he is pulling for AEW to be hugely successful. However, Bischoff then claimed that Khan predicting their win in advance was a bad choice. He went into the statics and explained how it wasn’t really a victory for AEW:

“To come out and predict that AEW was going to defeat SmackDown on FS1 was a bad choice. SmackDown delivered somewhere just under 800,000 viewers, AEW delivered just under 600,000 viewers. Not a good look. It wasn’t slightly; it was to the tune of 30-35%, that’s not insignificant. Even more so, that all happened on FOX Sports One.

[Tony Khan’s] tweet didn’t do AEW any favors.” said Eric Bischoff, “You might have served the internet fan base but you’re not serving your business well because you got your ass kicked on Friday night. Simple as that.”

The former SmackDown director also reiterated his comments saying that the wrestling audience wants a Monday Night War version 2.0 so bad that they are all participating in a cosplay competition.

Tony Khan hasn’t been quiet about the remarks from Eric Bischoff either. He recently responded to the former TNA star saying that he was amused by the comments Bischoff made about the competition between the two companies.

  • Chris Jericho Speculates On When AEW Could Make UK Debut

Chris Jericho Speculates On When AEW Could Make UK Debut

Chris Jericho has given his take on when we could be seeing AEW make its way to the United Kingdom.

It’s no secret that fans in the UK love some wrestling. The crowds always seem to be red hot for WWE shows in the UK and even Impact Wrestling had success there under the reins of Dixie Carter. AEW had plans of making the trip to England in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to that idea.

Chris Jericho spoke to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT and discussed when he believes AEW will finally put on a show in the UK.

“It’s kind of out of my pay grade. I do know that we just saw a WWE tour in England. I know that Fozzy is coming to England in December and I know that we’re almost 100 percent sold out the whole tour, like 14 gigs or whatever. So that’s a good barometer that people are waiting to see us again.

“Obviously with the connection of Tony and Fulham and his relationship in the UK, we have a place to go in Craven Cottage for a stadium show. I think it’s just a matter of time. I’d say probably, if I had to guess, probably in the summer when all questions are gone. I think once the Khans start going to England to attend some of those games, that’s a good indication because I don’t think they’ve been to the UK since.”

Tony Khan did tell Busted Open Radio that he’s hoping to pull off an international tour in 2022. Khan didn’t have an exact date in mind but it definitely appears to be a goal for next year.

  • Tony Khan Fires Back At Eric Bischoff: ‘I Was Amused’

Tony Khan Fires Back At Eric Bischoff: ‘I Was Amused’

AEW head honcho Tony Khan has returned fire on Eric Bischoff.

There was a time when Bischoff was the top mover and shaker outside of Turner executives for WCW. He helped lead the charge that defeated Vince McMahon and WWE for 83 straight weeks in the TV ratings. While his success during that period of time will never be forgotten, neither will WCW’s rapid implosion.

Khan and Bischoff have been both cordial and combative towards one another over the past couple of years. Bischoff recently took issue with Khan saying he won’t repeat WCW’s mistakes. Eric believes that Khan has been creating new problems and should just “shut up and wrestle.”

Tony Khan Hits Back At Eric Bischoff

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Khan offered the following response to Bischoff.

“I was amused by Eric’s comments. I like Eric when we’re together, but this is the ultimate example of glasshouses, knowing how Eric conducted himself when he was the President of WCW and he did ask for the head-to-head competition, he said publicly I should be going to that, but I don’t decide when these shows are on.

“This time slot, we looked at a couple of different slots and this was one they thought would do well and I was supportive of because it allowed for a good block of wrestling on Friday night and I knew there would be a good amount of people watching on Friday and it was effectively an opportunity for people to watch everything in one night. When we got the head-to-head competition, I thought we need to respond and need to win. We did.”

Khan went on to say that Bischoff’s remarks are “laughable.” He reminded the former WCW President that he was the man who challenged Vince McMahon to a fight on his own show and had himself lowered from the ceiling on a motorcycle. Tony Khan believes Bischoff is simply putting on an act and trying to stir up controversy.

Jim Ross: Vince McMahon “Believes He Owns The Genre”

Vince McMahon believes that he owns the wrestling genre and that’s why he doesn’t like losing to any other company such as AEW, according to Jim Ross.

JR discussed the end of Wednesday Night Wars on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast. Ross says McMahon is a fiercely competitive person and didn’t take kindly to NXT coming up short against AEW.

Discussing how WWE moved NXT to Tuesday nights after their long losing streak against AEW Dynamite, Ross said that he respects and appreciates the competitiveness of his former employer:

“He didn’t like getting his ass beat every Wednesday night. And I know we didn’t win every Wednesday night, but we won most of them. Winning one is too many for him. He’s very competitive; he believes he owns the genre. He is the godfather and I get it, I understand it, and I respect and appreciate his competitiveness.

He works better when there’s a little pressure on him and I think that’s been proven time and time again. He’s a different breed of cat when it comes to that stuff.”

The AEW commentator continued by saying that Dynamite beating NXT in ratings for most nights was definitely an issue leading to WWE switching nights. Jim Ross also discussed the recent big AEW signings such as Bryan Danielson, CM Punk and Adam Cole. He said that competition is ultimately good for the industry.

CJ Perry Says Miro Won’t Allow Her To Create OnlyFans Account

Miro loves to mention both his God and his hot and flexible wife in his promos these days. According to comments his wife CJ Perry (FKA Lana) made during a Highspots live signing, Miro didn’t want his wife creating an OnlyFans account.

“I stay open to all forms of entertainment except for OnlyFans because my husband doesn’t allow me,” Perry said during the signing. “Every time he’ll be like, ‘Do what you want!’ I’m like, I guess that means don’t do it.”

The former Lana continued to say that she has suggested Miro could be involved in the account. This was not something the former TNT Champion was interested in, however.

“I was trying to get Miro to do OnlyFans and [shakes head no]. Really? I feel like you just have to find your group of people. But there might be a ton of people that might want to see Miro’s naked body. Or not even naked, just those jacked thighs. But also he loves himself so much. I wasn’t going to do totally nude, anyways. With him, it’s just the idea and just the name, even. I’m like, ‘I wouldn’t be naked, it could be just your feet.’”

Finally, Perry continued to say that Miro loves to flex and do other things in front of the mirror frequently. The “helicopter” was even mentioned.

“Also, with Miro, the thing is he loves himself. Truly, I love my husband. I adore him, but I really think that no one — like when Miro looks in the mirror, no one loves himself more than he does. It’s also so entertaining that I walk into a room and he’s like standing in front of the mirror flexing and doing the helicopter naked.”

Miro has yet to wrestle since dropping the TNT title to Sammy Guevara. He returned to AEW programming recently and cut a promo indicating he is looking to regain his championship.

Miro’s TNT title reign lasted for a total of 140 days. That ranks 2nd all-time behind Darby Allin’s 186-day reign with the belt. Miro also defended the title 8 times before dropping it to Guevara. He had successful title defences against Dante Martin, Lance Archer, Evil Uno, Brian Pillman Jr., Lee Johnson, Fuego Del Sol 2x, and Eddie Kingston.

Cody Rhodes Reveals Rule For Rhodes To The Top Camera Crew

With Rhodes To The Top in full swing, Cody Rhodes revealed to Busted Open Radio the one rule that the camera crew must follow.

“I mean no disrespect to Shed media or our friends at Warner Media, but it’s very annoying. The annoyance of it is a great complaint to have that these people want to document this company as it grows, and they want to document our family as it grows. It did get to the point where some of the reasons I think the show is real quality, is it got to the point where I said, ‘Hey guys, I’ll wear this mic and you can follow me with that camera, but don’t stage anything. Don’t ask me to repeat something. Don’t ask me to frame something up. Just film. If you just film, you’ll be very happy ultimately with what you get.’”

On AEW TV, Rhodes has been feuding with Malakai Black. Cody is down 0-2 against Black. Their third meeting will take place on the Oct. 23 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Cody’s real-life workload has played a role in his storyline with Black. Cody’s mentor, Arn Anderson, has told the former two-time TNT Champion that he’s too Hollywood these days and needs to snap out of it in order to defeat Malakai Black.

“Roman Reigns lost in the key demographic to Ruby Soho, and Ruby Soho sucks so I don’t know what to tell you,” he said. “Don’t get me wrong, that’s not me shitting on Roman Reigns. I think Roman Reigns is a hell of a performer, he really is.”

He added, “I think [Reigns] is absolutely incredible. Am I better than him on the mic and in the ring? Sure, but I’m not gonna go out of my way and talk shit about him because I respect him.”

“I know that they’re all watching our stuff.”

    – MJF

WWE executives have said they do not consider AEW to be competition. MJF isn’t buying it.

MJF is under contract with AEW until 2024. He loves working for AEW, but he’s a businessman first and foremost. He’d consider jumping to WWE (for the right price) and would welcome the chance to work with Roman Reigns.

“Again, someday I might work there. I’m also sure if he sees this, he’ll pretend he doesn’t know who I am because that’s what they do over there. When in reality, I know that they’re all watching our stuff. Again, I cannot stress this enough, a huge fan of Roman Reigns. I think he’s great. Would love to work with him one day.”

WWE extended last Friday’s episode of SmackDown an extra half hour to go head to head with Rampage. Though despite putting out a segment between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, the company still lost to Tony Khan’s promotion in key demo ratings. You can check out a detailed breakdown of numbers from Friday here.

Junior dos Santos Feels Appreciated In AEW Compared To MMA Career

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos has taken a liking to the folks in AEW.

We’ve been seeing members of the renowned MMA gym American Top Team feud with The Inner Circle. Among those members have been dos Santos and UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal. ATT has aligned itself with The Men of The Year, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky.

Junior dos Santos Is Quite Happy With AEW

Junior dos Santos appeared on The MMA Hour and told Ariel Helwani that he’s feeling the love from AEW.

“I like playing the bad guy in pro wrestling because it brings me a kind of comfort. I was feeling so excited for this debut. In the MMA world I was feeling a lot of pressure with people demanding things all the time and not caring about you and now I was there [in AEW] and I was being appreciated to be there so I felt amazing and I said man this is an amazing feeling, this is something that I felt at the beginning of my [MMA] career and the middle of my career when I became champion and it’s great to be feeling it again.”

On the Oct. 15 episode of AEW Rampage, dos Santos made his in-ring debut. He teamed with The Men of the Year to take on Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Jake Hager. Despite being put through a table, dos Santos and his team picked up the win thanks to inferences from Paige VanZant and Jorge Masvidal.

The Inner Circle appears to be throwing down a challenge for a 10-man tag team match. It looks like it could be all members of Inner Circle vs. The Men of the Year and three members of ATT. One has to figure that dos Santos will be back to participate in that match.

Daniel Garcia Is All Elite: Garcia & Tony Khan React

    Daniel Garcia is All Elite.

Garcia has been featured prominently since his recent arrival. He’s mixed it up with some of AEW’s top stars including CM Punk, Jon Moxley, and Darby Allin. He’s come up short in each of those matches, but he’s been booked strongly nonetheless.

Tony Khan announced on Tuesday that the 23-year-old mat technician has signed with the company. Garcia has put pen to paper and is officially a full-time member of the roster.

TK says Garcia came in with a great reputation and has built upon the hype since arriving in AEW. “He’s shown no fear, never backing down from anything, even the best in the world,” wrote Khan.

Garcia says he didn’t want to sign with a promotion just because. He was looking for a place to call home, a company that would help him become the best wrestler in the world. “I plan on being a major player in this company for a very long time,” he wrote.

During a recent interview with Fanbyte, Garcia had this to say about his time in AEW thus far:

“I really think that I have the potential right now to be a major player in AEW in the very near future. I feel like they handed me the ball and I just keep running with it.”

  • CM Punk Fires Back At Sasha Banks After Rampage Tops SmackDown

CM Punk Fires Back At Sasha Banks After Rampage Tops SmackDown

CM Punk has dealt a “receipt” to Sasha Banks following AEW’s impressive showing against WWE last Friday night.

The Internet has been buzzing about the Friday night ratings showdown between AEW Rampage and WWE SmackDown. Rampage aired in its usual time slot, while SmackDown aired on FS1 instead of the Fox broadcast network. WWE took the fight to AEW by extending SmackDown an extra 30 minutes (commercial-free) to go head-to-head with the first half of Rampage.

Prior to the showdown, Sasha Banks tweeted, “It’s Clobberin time #SmackdownonFS1” – a clear reference to CM Punk’s famous catchphrase.

Sasha Banks’ match against Becky Lynch went head-to-head with CM Punk’s match against Matt Sydal. The overlapping half hour also included The Bunny vs. Ruby Soho for AEW and a blockbuster contract signing between Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar on SmackDown.

Overall, the 2 1/2 hour SmackDown broadcast averaged 866,000 viewers. The 60-minute Rampage show did 578,000 viewers. Both shows did a 0.24 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic, which caught many people by surprise.

Even more surprising was the 30-minute block when Rampage and SmackDown went head-to-head. Looking at that key demographic, AEW Rampage actually topped WWE SmackDown 328,000 viewers to 285,000, a 15% margin.

CM Punk has since responded to Sasha Banks’ tease that it would be “clobbering time” when WWE and AEW went head-to-head for 30 minutes. With AEW coming out on top, Punk agrees: “Indeed, it was.”

  • Jorge Masvidal Praises AEW Roster: ‘Lots Of Savages’

Jorge Masvidal Praises AEW Roster: ‘Lots Of Savages’

Jorge Masvidal likes what he sees from the AEW roster.

Masvidal has been making some appearances on AEW TV. He’s been involved in a storyline with his American Top Team coach Dan Lambert. Lambert and ATT have aligned themselves with The Men of The Year, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. Right now, the group is feuding with Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle.

ATT is a renowned MMA gym known for training world champions. Jorge Masvidal is a UFC welterweight who trains under ATT.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani for The MMA Hour, Masvidal said that AEW is chock full of talent but he’s willing to take out anyone standing in Dan Lambert’s way.

“There’s a lot of savages over there on the AEW side, a lot of savages. I’m here to domesticate them. You do the rest. I don’t know who, when and where, but I’m a hired gun.”

The man known as “Gamebred” went on to say that he’s having the time of his life in AEW.

“(I’m enjoying) the f*ck out of it. I’m having a blast. Dan loves American Top Team so much, he wouldn’t trade it for nothing in the world, for no amount of money. The only thing that comes comparable to that is pro wrestling. Dan loves pro wrestling. So when the opportunity came and I get to be next to the general Dan Lambert, I was like, ‘Yeah, let’s go, let’s beat people up.’”

On the Oct. 15 episode of AEW Rampage, Masvidal’s teammate and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos made his in-ring debut. It was The Men of The Year and dos Santos taking on Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Jake Hager.

The Men of The Year and dos Santos won the match after Masvidal ran in and nailed Jericho with a flying knee. The referee was distracted by Paige VanZant, also of ATT. It appears this is all leading to a 10-man tag team match between all Inner Circle members against The Men of The Year and three members of ATT at Full Gear.
