Lucha Bros Win AEW Tag Team Titles At All Out

AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks made their latest title defense against the Lucha Bros at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena.

The steel cage match saw a chaotic pace. Various spots into the fence were done. Nick hit a cutter to Fenix then Matt hit a stunner off the top rope to Penta. Moments later, Fenix hit a double cutter to Matt. Moments later, Matt put on a shoe that had thumbtacks on the bottom of it so he could superkick Penta. Fenix with a crossbody off the top of the cage. Luchas hit a tag team move for the win.

This was a rematch from All Out 2019 where Penta and Fenix won by beating the Young Bucks in an Escalera De La Muerte ladder match for the AAA Tag Team Titles.

The Lucha Bros won the AEW World Tag title eliminator tournament on the August 27th edition of Rampage by beating Jurassic Express. Before that, Penta and Fenix beat Private Party in the opening round to advance to the finals.

The Young Bucks previously defended the titles on pay-per-view against Chris Jericho and MJF at the AEW Revolution event this past March and Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston at Double or Nothing.

Last November, the Bucks won the tag team titles from FTR at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event last November.

Time will tell whether AEW continues this feud or goes in a different direction heading into Wednesday’s Dynamite.

  • Britt Baker Keeps AEW Women’s Title In All Out Defense

Britt Baker Keeps AEW Women’s Title In All Out Defense

Kris Statlander was the latest wrestler in the women’s division to step up to challenge Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s Title.

It happened at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena. The match saw both ladies get an equal amount of offense in and seemed to go through quick spots early. They nearly botched a suplex off the top rope.

Baker hit the Pittsburgh Sunrise then the stomp for a near fall. Baker won with the locked jaw.

Statlander had been out of action for nearly 10 months thanks to a knee injury, but returned this past April. To get this title shot, she racked up a sixteen-match winning streak in AEW in singles matches.

Baker won the title at the Double or Nothing PPV on May 30, where she ended Hikaru Shida’s title reign of over a year.

Many fans were hoping to see Baker wrestle Thunder Rosa at this show, but they will have to wait until 2022 to see the much-anticipated rematch.

It was recently reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the plan is to build up for a major match in early 2022 although it was not said if this will be on pay-per-view or on a special episode of Dynamite.

Their first match took place a few months ago during the bloody unsanctioned main event match on an episode of Dynamite.

  • Miro Keeps TNT Title At AEW All Out

Miro Keeps TNT Title At AEW All Out

Eddie Kingston was the latest challenger to step up to TNT Champion Miro.

As seen at Sunday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view event, Miro went over to retain the title. The match saw Kingston bring the fight to him early with chops. However, things turned around for Miro when he caught Kingston off the apron and hit a slam to the floor. Kingston fought back until Miro went for his submission finisher and Kingston got to the ropes. Miro got the win with a superkick.

    https://twitter.com/AEW/status/1434670002188206082

All Elite Wrestling made this match official on the August 28th edition of Rampage as Miro was attacking Fuego Del Sol when Kingston ran out to make the save. They had a brief pull-apart to set up the bout for All Out.

Miro became the TNT Champion when he beat Darby Allin on AEW Dynamite on May 28th. Since that time, he has beat Dante Martin, Lance Archer, Evil Uno, Brian Pillman Jr., Lee Johnson and Fuego Del Sol in successful title defenses.

The previous time that Kingston had been in a title match was when he and Jon Moxley fell short to The Young Bucks with the Tag Team Titles on the line during the July 7th edition of Dynamite.

  • CM Punk Wants To Team With Bryan Danielson To Face The Young Bucks

CM Punk Wants To Team With Bryan Danielson To Face The Young Bucks

CM Punk is adding fuel to the fire.

Bryan Danielson reportedly signed a deal with AEW. Bodyslam.net was the first to report the news and claimed the initial plan was to have him debut on the Sept. 22 Dynamite show in New York City. He has since updated the report, claiming Bryan’s debut has now been bumped up to the All Out PPV on Sept. 5.

Danielson has mostly remained silent since his last WWE appearance at WrestleMania but CM Punk has been dropping hints. During an appearance on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast, Punk expressed interest in teaming with Bryan Danielson to take on The Young Bucks.

“I wanna wrestle the Young Bucks. I’ve gotta find the right tag partner for that. I mean, if we’re fantasy booking, it’s…when does this come out? Saturday? Okay…I don’t think it’s necessarily giving away spoilers, it’s just me putting my booker hat on,”

“Of all the possibilities, I would do CM Punk and The American Dragon vs. The Young Bucks. It’s so obvious that’s what you do.”

As of now, Matt and Nick Jackson are the AEW Tag Team Champions. That could change tonight as they will defend their gold inside a steel cage at All Out.

Stick with SEScoops tonight as we’ll be providing coverage of All Out. We’ll be bringing you results as well as any updates on surprise appearances.

CM Punk to AEW Haters: “We Don’t Need You, So STFU”

CM Punk addressed the crowd at the conclusion of the latest episode of AEW Dark.

As Jurassic Express was hanging in the ring after their match, Cult of Personality hit and Punk headed tot he ring. He grabbed a microphone and said he thinks it’s super cool how involved the audience is. They sing wrestlers’ entrance songs, they’re chanting AEW and it’s an amazing party-like atmosphere. “It helps, it really does,” said Punk.

“I’m Super Grateful, Humble Punk now”

    – CM Punk

Punk said he’s been tasked with “sending the crowd happy” and led the crowd to sing the ‘Golden Girls’ theme song.

Last week in Milwaukee, he addressed an AEW crowd and told them, if you enjoyed the show, great, tell your friends about it. If you didn’t enjoy the show, “shut the F up.”

He wanted to clarify what he meant by that. He doesn’t mind criticism. In fact, he welcomes criticism, because that’s feedback on how they can improve. However, there is a segment of wrestling fans who are negative for the sake of being negative.

“The part about shutting the f–k up is for the people who hate watch stuff and have nothing good to say, or nothing good to add to the conversation. We don’t need you, so shut the f–k up.”

    https://twitter.com/AEW/status/1434309653949816836

CM Punk wants Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view to be like a “gigantic party” that makes people wish they were there in person.

“At the end of the day, ya’ll are our bosses,” Punk added. “If you’re not having a good time, please let us know. But if you like what you see, you let us know and we’ll give you all that we have. So, sing those songs, cheer for these guys, boo for the ones you don’t like. And if you don’t like it…”

CM Punk battles Darby Allin tonight at AEW All Out. It will be Punk’s first match in over 7 years.

  • Kurt Angle Can’t Believe WWE Let Bryan Danielson Leave for AEW

Kurt Angle Can’t Believe WWE Let Bryan Danielson Leave for AEW

Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle spoke with Nick Hausman this past week for the Wrestling Inc Daily podcast. They discussed a variety of current events, including AEW’s popularity and reports that Bryan Danielson will soon be All Elite.

Kurt Angle was one of the top Superstars during the Attitude Era, a time when WWE attracted young adults in droves. In recent years, WWE has toned down the product and is geared to be more family-friendly. Angle thinks that AEW is gaining ground with the demographic that brought WWE monster success twenty years ago.

“WWE are losing the young adults,” said Angle. “The 18 to 40 years olds that WWE had during the Attitude Era, that’s more the way AEW’s direction is right now. They’re swearing on the air, they’re putting up the middle fingers. It’s more of an Attitude Era attitude.”

Kurt Angle on Bryan Danielson to AEW

Angle also commented on the rumor that Bryan Danielson will be joining AEW in the near future. Angle says he’s very surprised by this development and never thought WWE would let him go.

“Daniel was a big part of the company for the past ten or so years,” said Angle. “He was literally the top babyface in the company for a few years, so, I’m really surprised they let him go. But Daniel is probably happier in AEW for whatever reason. I don’t know if it was money or if he wasn’t happy with the direction of his character, but it had to be something that made him leave.”

As of this writing, Bryan Danielson remains a free agent and has not yet appeared for All Elite Wrestling.

  • CM Punk says he would “love” to see AJ Lee back in wrestling

CM Punk says he would “love” to see AJ Lee back in wrestling

New AEW signee CM Punk recently appeared on WFAN’s Moose & Maggie. The straight edge star discussed several topics during the interview, including his wife AJ Lee and her potential return to pro wrestling.

Although CM Punk did previously say that there’s no chance of the former WWE Divas Champion returning, he would “love” to see it.

“I would love to see it,” Punk began, “I get asked that question every single time I do an interview and I love it. I absolutely love it, I don’t (think she wants to do it), because she’s a teeny tiny person and she has a bad neck.”

    CM Punk on AJ Lee

“So I think the shelf life for females in wrestling, wrestling a full schedule, is a lot shorter, it’s a lot smaller than men” Punk continued. “And I think she’s so focused on what she’s doing now, writing screenplays.”

“She’s working on a million different projects, being pulled in so many directions. I think she would probably, maybe be receptive to the idea of coming back, but that can’t even enter her vocabulary right now. She’s so focused on the movie scripts and TV adaptation of a book she’s working on” Punk concluded.

CM Punk is set to make his in-ring debut for AEW at tonights All Out PPV event from Chicago, Illinois.

AEW: Julia Hart Out Of Women’s Casino Battle Royale, Replacement Set

Julia Hart no longer has a spot in the All Out Casino Battle Royale.

Hart was going to be one of the participants in the match on Sept. 5. Plans have changed. On the pre-All Out edition of AEW Dark, Hart was attacked by Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill backstage. Nyla placed a chair on Hart’s leg and Jade stomped on it, so AEW is running an injury angle to explain Hart’s removal.

“BREAKING: AEW doctors won’t clear Julia Hart to compete in tomorrow’s Casino Battle Royale due to the injuries from this attack by Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill
    earlier on AEW Dark.”

Hart has been replaced by Skye Blue, who wrestled Red Velvet in a losing effort on AEW Dark. Tony Khan made his way out to announce that Blue will be entering the match this Sunday night.

“Because of the attack on Julia Hart earlier by Nyla & Jade, there’s an opening in tomorrow’s Casino Battle Royale & AEW GM Tony Khan, impressed w/ Skye Blue’s losing effort vs Red Velvet, adds her to the match!”

The match was initially set to be featured on the Buy In show before the All Out PPV begins. The match was promoted to the main card after visa issues postponed Pac vs. Andrade “El Idolo.”

  • Eddie Kingston On CM Punk: I See Someone Who Is Hungrier & Happier

Eddie Kingston On CM Punk: I See Someone Who Is Hungrier & Happier

Eddie Kingston believes that CM Punk has his smile back.

Punk made his return to the wrestling industry after being away for seven years. The self-proclaimed “Best in the World” left WWE in early 2014. Punk returned on the Aug. 20 edition of AEW Rampage.

Kingston spoke to Inside The Ropes and gave his take on Punk’s return to the wrestling business under the AEW banner.

“I found out because you hear whispers. Certain people who have certain stroke and control were also into the whispers and it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s happening.’ Without them telling me it was happening, it was, ‘Oh, it’s happening.’ I got super excited. I first met Punk when I was 21 when he came to CHIKARA for a special seminar. He’s one of the rare guys that has a name that the name brings people in. Nowadays, it’s AEW, that name or WWE, that name or NWA, that name.

“When you put CM Punk, you’re coming for CM Punk. He’s become an old-school name. I love that he’s here. When I look in his eyes, I see old Punk. I see someone who is hungrier and happier. Mentally, in his eyes, I can see he’s in a better place than he was when I saw him while he was with WWE in the end. I ran into him and he didn’t seem like himself. Now, he seems better than himself. That’s good for the locker room because a lot of people can learn from him. That’s good for AEW because a lot of people are going to come and tune in now and they’re going to see everybody and not just him. People coming to see Punk is good for the company. Also, it’s fun. Why do something when it’s not fun? This is fun. I’m living a dream and having him here to help with that dream, selfishly, is amazing.”

Punk is set to have his first match since Jan. 2014. He will go one-on-one with Darby Allin this Sunday night (Sept. 5). The match will be featured on the All Out PPV card inside the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

  • CM Punk Says WWE Reached Out To Him In December

CM Punk Says WWE Reached Out To Him In December

According to comments CM Punk made to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, WWE reached out to Punk in December through intermediaries. This occurred shortly after Punk had removed himself from the UFC’s USADA drug-testing pool.

“Punk said WWE had been reaching out to him about a return as well, through intermediaries,” Raimondi wrote. Punk continued to say that while he listened to WWE’s overtures, things did not advance far.

“I remember one of the first things I ever said to them was, ‘Above all, don’t play games,’” Punk said. “And they played games. Some things never change. … When you enter a conversation with people you have a past with and you know who they are, how seriously can you take it? I know exactly who they are and they just continue to prove it. I’m trying to be as diplomatic as I possibly can.”

Punk made several comments about his former employer (without referring to them by name) during his appearance at the First Dance last month. Punk then spoke about his comments regarding WWE during an appearance on The Angi Taylor Show.

“The reality is you can’t talk to me, coming back after seven years, without bringing up the place I used to work,” Punk said. “I’m just trying to do my best to not sling mud so to speak because everything I say about them is 100% the truth.”

    https://twitter.com/Arda/status/1433763823689797633

Punk will take on Darby Allin tomorrow at All Out. It will be his first official match in over 7.5 years. The show will take place from the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The arena was formerly known as the Sears Center and was the venue of All In on September 1st, 2018.

  • The Acclaimed Perform “Scripted Rap” During Dark Tapings

The Acclaimed Perform “Scripted Rap” During Dark Tapings

Max Caster made his return to AEW after about a month away during last night’s AEW show at the NOW arena. The Acclaimed came out for their usual entrance only this time Max Caster let everyone know that his rap had “been approved by AEW management.” He read the lines from a script.

“Yo, this rap has been approved by AEW management,” Caster began. “We’re the Acclaimed and we came to say that we’re feeling pretty darn good today.
These two guys are formidable opponents but against us, they don’t have the components. How about the Jaguars? They sure are great…”

At this point, Anthony Bowens grabbed the microphone from Caster and called for the music to be turned off.

“Are they scripting our promos now, Max?”

Bowens then read from the scripted rap as well and plugged the Rhodes to the Top reality show. Eventually, the team tore up the script and continued with their usual entrance. Footage of the Acclaimed’s entrance can be viewed in the Tweet below:

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, Caster was sent to sensitivity classes following a rap of his on Dark being deemed offensive.

“After what happened last week and the fallout, Max Caster has been sent to sensitivity training,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

  • CM Punk Signed His AEW Deal ‘About 30 Minutes’ Before Debut

CM Punk Signed His AEW Deal ‘About 30 Minutes’ Before Debut

CM Punk made his AEW debut back on the August 20th edition of Rampage from Chicago, Illinois, which marked the first time in seven years that he has worked for a pro wrestling company since he left WWE.

ESPN has an article looking at the signing and included some interesting details. It was noted that Punk actually signed his contract “about 30 minutes” before showtime.

Punk arrived early at the United Center and got a text from his lawyer while there to tell him that he should probably sign his AEW contract before appearing on television.

Punk didn’t sleep for two nights before the big moment. He was nervous and anxious backstage to the point where he was questioning things such as his choice of sneakers.

In February, CM Punk responded to a fan on Twitter who asked him which AEW stars he’d want to face. He listed names such as Powerhouse Hobbs, Darby Allin, Brian Pillman Jr, Ricky Starks, and Jungle Boy.

AEW President Tony Khan texted Punk that he liked his list. Within a few weeks, they started talking about money and how he would debut.

Punk will make his AEW in-ring debut against Darby Allin at Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view event from Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena. It will be his first match since the Men’s Royal Rumble bout in January 2014.

  • Adam Cole Had ‘Non-Negotiable’ Request To WWE Before His Contract Expired

Adam Cole Had ‘Non-Negotiable’ Request To WWE Before His Contract Expired

Adam Cole is now on the free-agent market after he let his WWE contract expire and is still exploring his options.

Cole’s original deal expired back in July but agreed to a short-term extension that would last through August 31st as a way for him to finish up his storyline with Kyle O’Reilly.

Fightful Select reported today that Cole had made it clear well ahead of his contract even coming up in July that he was not willing to give up his Twitch account.

This is something that WWE has asked several wrestlers to do and some of them did just that. However, for Cole, it was said to be “non-negotiable.” The report stated that higher-ups weren’t excited to talk to him about it in general, because they didn’t have much leverage on the situation.

When Cole’s deal expired, it was reported that WWE was trying to re-sign him. Not only is All Elite Wrestling an option for him, but it appears to be the most likely place that he’ll end up as he has friends working for the promotion, and his girlfriend, Britt Baker, is currently the Women’s Champion.

It’s also possible for him to join other promotions such as NJPW, ROH, and Impact Wrestling, although AEW does have working relationships with NJPW and Impact so if he wanted to work some matches for those promotions, it could be arranged.

  • Tony Khan Says Nobody In AEW Has ‘Creative Control’

Tony Khan Says Nobody In AEW Has ‘Creative Control’

During a recent AEW media call to promote All Out, Tony Khan stated that while wrestlers in his company have creative input, not one person on the roster has creative control. This includes the newly signed CM Punk.

“Not one person, including Mr. Punk and everyone on the roster, has creative control. It’s not like WCW and that is one of the issues with WCW. When you have a person who has creative control in their contract, it can hold up the show. I don’t know how you get through TV doing that,” Khan said.

Khan continued to say, however, that he encourages wrestlers to come and talk to him if something they are being asked to do doesn’t make sense.

“I’ve told (Punk) if I ever ask you to do something that doesn’t make sense, it’s not coming from a malicious place, if something doesn’t make sense, tell me and we’ll talk about it. That’s generally how I am with everyone,” he continued.

“Just because nobody has a contractual right to tell me ‘you can’t make me do that, you can’t put me in that match,’ doesn’t mean I want to put people in bad situations or do things that don’t make sense to them or for their career or for the fans,” Khan further explained.

Wrestlers Speak On AEW’s Creative Freedom

While creative control isn’t something anyone in AEW has in their contract, many on the roster have spoken about the creative freedom they do enjoy.

“It feels really good that I’m in a place now where my creative mind can be utilized versus stopped, and controlled, and being presented in things that I know are not gonna work,” said Malakai Black on Twitch earlier this summer.

Ethan Page also spoke about the creative freedom in AEW during an interview with Chris Van Vliet.

“It’s amazing, now being in AEW, the creative freedom and I guess trust that they give their talent to kind of let them do what they want,” he said.

Ring announcer Justin Roberts also commented on the creative freedom he’s given in AEW.

“If there’s a scale of creative freedom, and there’s a one and a 10, I guess I’m at 100, since day one, it’s just one of those things where I’ve never been handed a script, or I’ve never been told what to say on anything starting from the first show when,” he said on the AEW Unrestricted podcast.

  • Britt Baker Not Interested In Wrestling Outside Of AEW

Britt Baker Not Interested In Wrestling Outside Of AEW

The “Forbidden Door” has led to many intriguing matches and angles but don’t expect Britt Baker to show up for a promotion outside of AEW.

Baker is the reigning AEW Women’s Champion. She captured the gold back in May at Double or Nothing when she defeated Shida. Britt’s victory ended Shida’s 372-day title reign.

As of late, we’ve seen AEW work with a slew of different promotions. We’ve seen cross-promotion with the likes of NJPW, AAA, Impact Wrestling, and NWA. It has led many fans to think of potential fantasy matchups.

Speaking at Planet Comic-Con, Britt said that if anyone wishes to wrestle her from another company, they will have to make the trip to AEW.

“I’m not going anywhere because I’m in the hottest professional wrestling company on the planet. I don’t need to go anywhere. They can come here, and that’s fine, but I have no desire to go anywhere because they can all come to us.

“Everyone has their own different path. I’m the baddest b*tch of the block in AEW and, again, if they want to come to me I welcome them all with open arms. Please step foot in my ring.”

Britt Baker is scheduled to make her third title defense against Kris Statlander. The championship match will take place this Sunday night (Sept. 5). It’ll be a part of the All Out PPV inside the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Karl Anderson Stirs Drama Following Rant On WWE

Karl Anderson has gone on quite the Twitter rant and many fans aren’t pleased.

Anderson once worked under the WWE banner along with his tag team partner Doc Gallows. The two even signed a lucrative contract extension but were released shortly after WrestleMania back in 2020.

Anderson now works for Impact Wrestling and has appeared on AEW TV with The Elite. Anderson and Gallows are the current Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions.

Anderson found himself at the center of controversy on Twitter. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful tweeted the news that WWE has sent out a memo offering talent mental health counseling services in the wake of Daffney’s passing.

Anderson rubbed people the wrong way in a since-deleted response to Sapp’s tweet. Anderson said, “They suck bro.”

He went on to rant about NXT. “What happened to the Wednesday night wars? F*ck they gave up quick. NXT was putting out [a] sh*t product constantly, this is on them and Hunter.”

Anderson later responded to a ton of Twitter users who have criticized him for his comments. He has even threatened some fans, saying he can’t wait to meet them in person, and then used a fist emoji.

Karl Anderson was seen on the Sept. 1 edition of AEW Dynamite. He joined Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and the rest of The Elite in their beatdown of Christian Cage and The Lucha Bros.

Riho Joins Women’s Casino Battle Royal at All Out

Former All Elite Wrestling Women’s World Champion Riho will enter the Women’s Casino Battle Royal at AEW All Out this Sunday.

Tony Khan revealed in a media call today that Riho will compete in the 21-woman Battle Royal. He was going to delay the news until AEW Rampage on Friday but decided to share today. Riho is the 20th participant that will compete in the match.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gDiUIVrups

Rules of the Women’s Casino Battle Royal

The Women’s Casino Battle Royal will be the second women’s battle royal in All Out history. The rule of the match is that five-woman will start the match, and every three minutes, another five-woman will join. The way to eliminate opponents in the match is by throwing them over the top rope and making their feet touch the floor. Participants are grouped based on their suit from cards like hearts, clubs, diamonds, and hearts. When all 20 participants have entered the match, the Joker will join, who makes up the 21st competitor. The surviving participant of the match is the winner and gets an AEW Women’s World Championship match.

Nyla Rose became the first woman to win the match at the inaugural AEW All Out event on August 31, 2019. She will also be competing in the match on Sunday.

Who Will be the last Participant

While revealing that Riho will be in the match, Khan didn’t share who will be the 21st participant. The last competitor could also not be on the active AEW roster. AEW may not reveal who it would be until the match has started.

AEW President Tony Khan Confirms AEW Dark move to Universal Studios

All Elite Wrestling will record episodes of AEW Dark at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

AEW President Tony Khan conducted a media call today ahead of All-out, which takes place this Sunday. Khan confirmed that AEW would record episodes at Universal Studios. He also hasn’t ruled out doing some episodes at arenas, depending on AEW’s schedule.

    AEW Dark Moving Location

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer reported on Twitter that Dark would be recording at Universal Studios. However, it’s unclear when AEW will begin taping shows at Universal Studios. The August 31st episode took place at UWM Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Khan, inspired by World Championship Wrestling, wanted to use a studio for wrestling like WCW Worldwide.

More Focus on AEW Dynamite and Rampage

The introduction of AEW Rampage on TNT has achieved great reception from viewers. Showbuzz Daily’s Mitch Metcalf reports that the August 27th episode of Rampage did 722,000 in viewership. Unlike Rampage and Dynamite, Dark is available on AEW’s Youtube Channel. It also hasn’t delivered on the same numbers that Rampage or AEW Dynamite has in viewership. The August 31st episode hasn’t reached 400,000 views yet, as of today.

Khan also shared in the call that he sees Dynamite and Rampage as the A-shows. While AEW will record Dark at Universal Studios, major AEW stars will still appear on the show.

During an interview with WFAN, Punk addressed the rumors of Bryan potentially debuting in the company. “Listen, the 7 years I was gone, if you told me who is the one guy that could get you back to wrestling, you just have one match with them, it would be him,” Punk said when asked about Bryan on the show.

“I don’t know if that answers your question or not. The guy was in the WrestleMania main event 6 months ago, so that would be a huge acquisition. I think he could, just like me, I think he could do everything he wants to do.”

“For a guy like him and me, pro wrestling is art, this is our art.”

Tony Khan was also asked about the rumors of Bryan Danielson during an interview on Wrestling Observer Radio. Khan opted not to answer questions about Danielson during the discussion, however.

“I can’t answer that question. It’s fair for you to ask that question but it’s not anything I could address on the Observer today but it’s fair enough for you to ask it. He’s one of the all-time greats,” Khan said.

CM Punk Sees “Big Money Matches” Awaiting Him in AEW

CM Punk continues to do the media rounds ahead of Sunday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view from Chicago. Punk appeared on Busted Open Radio this week. He had a lot to say during his chat with hosts Dave LaGreca and Tommy Dreamer.

There is still a lot of curiosity surrounding CM Punk’s motivation to return to pro wrestling with AEW. Punk has repeatedly touted the company’s young roster. When asked who he is looking forward to working with, he gave a more general answer than we’ve heard previously. “Lame answer: Everybody,” said Punk.

CM Punk said he’s never worked with Kenny Omega or the Young Bucks. He wrestled Cody Rhodes in WWE back in 2008, but sees that as another interesting match-up.

    CM Punk in AEW

Earlier this week, Punk told Angi Taylor that he never considered returning to WWE. Throughout his 7-year hiatus from wrestling, Punk said, “I don’t think going back to WWE was ever really, logically, on the table.”

WWE is the premiere wrestling organization in the world. Despite its loaded roster, CM Punk saw way more “big money matches” awaiting him in AEW.

“Why wouldn’t I want to go there?  You talk about ‘Big Money Matches’, there are way more in AEW than anywhere else for me.”

Punk added that AEW has a “punk rock” feeling to it. Some of the younger performers are a bit rough around the edges, which he sees as a very good thing. They have trained around the world under a variety of different styles, unlike WWE which has a very specific style they expect wrestlers to conform to.

Ric Flair Comments On A Possible 4 Horseman Reunion In AEW

Ric Flair recently took part in an interview with Renee Pacquette for her Oral Sessions podcast. During the conversation, Flair was asked if he would like to take part in a 4 Horsemen reunion in AEW.

“Let me tell you something,” Flair said (transcriptions via 411Mania). “If you’re at AEW and the Four Horsemen get together, everyone in the world watches. You’ve got Arn [Anderson], Tully [Blanchard], Barry [Windham] is sitting about a mile from here, and JJ [Dillon], you fly him in. You do a half-hour interview with [Tony] Schiavone and Jim Ross.”

Flair was also asked if he wants to get in the ring and wrestle again. The 16x World Champion noted that he would want to receive Vince McMahon’s blessing beforehand if he did.

“Get back in the ring and entertain? Absolutely,” Flair responded. “I would ask [Vince] first because I owe that to him.”

Will Ric Flair Wrestle Another Match?

We are coming up on the 10-year anniversary of Ric Flair’s last official match. He lost to Sting on an episode of Impact on September 12th, 2011. Flair got physical during the Andrade vs Kenny Omega match at TripleMania, however, as he and Andrade put Omega and Konnan in duelling figure four leglocks at one point.

During the podcast with Renee, Flair said while he likely couldn’t do a match of his own, he’d be happy being part of a match.

“No. I could be part of a match. I’d be happy doing that,” Flair said when asked if he wanted another match. “There’s another example, me and Andrade against Sting and Darby. What a great deal that is. The other day they were doing that thing where they were tapping their chests and stuff like that. I can see Sting is having the best time of his life. He’s one of the best guys to ever come along in our business.”

Flair most recently appeared on the NWA 73rd Anniversary show at the Chase Ballroom in St. Louis this weekend. He cut a promo during the PPV and came out at the end to congratulate the new champion, Trevor Murdoch.

  • Max Caster’s Status With AEW Revealed (Spoiler)

Max Caster’s Status With AEW Revealed (Spoiler)

The status of Max Caster in AEW has been unveiled.

Caster was at the center of controversy during an episode of AEW Dark back in August. Caster dropped a rap referencing the mental health issues of Olympian Simone Biles and the 2006 Duke lacrosse rape case. The rap was edited out of Dark and Caster hasn’t been seen on TV since.

Many have wondered about the status of Caster and we now have a clear answer. During an AEW Dark taping, Caster appeared to help his tag partner Anthony Bowens get a victory over Griff Garrison.

It was reported by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio that Caster was sent to sensitivity training due to the rap.

“After what happened last week and the fallout, Max Caster has been sent to sensitivity training,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Khan made it clear that he will be overseeing the editing process of AEW Dark going forward. He wants to avoid situations like this from happening again.

Caster is set for a rap performance on Sept. 2. He’ll be inside the Bottom Lounge in Chicago, Illinois. The performance takes place just three nights before AEW’s big All Out PPV inside the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Anna Jay Returns, Set to Compete In Casino Battle Royale At All Out

Anna Jay has made her return to AEW just before the All Out PPV.

On the Sept. 1 edition of Dynamite, Tay Conti went one-on-one with Penelope Ford. Ford recently aligned herself with The Bunny. Ford’s interference cost Conti a match against The Bunny on Rampage. Conti got some revenge with a victory over Ford on Dynamite.

After the match, Ford and The Bunny attacked Conti. Jay’s music hit and she cleared the ring to save her friend. It was then announced that Anna Jay will be competing in the Women’s Casino Battle Royale on Sept. 5 at All Out.

Jay had suffered a shoulder injury, which was announced back in February. She underwent successful surgery.

“Hi everyone, I just got out of my shoulder surgery, and all is well. For the next two days I will most likely sleep and eat only ice cream and soup. But after that…I will be working my ass off in any way I can. Thanks for all of the support and well wishes.”

The Women’s Casino Battle Royale was initially set for the Buy In preshow. The match has been bumped to the PPV portion of All Out after Pac vs. Andrade “El Idolo” was postponed.

SEScoops will be providing coverage of All Out this weekend. Be sure to stick with us for results and updates throughout the show. All Out takes place inside the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

  • CM Punk: I Don’t Think WWE Return Was Ever On The Table

CM Punk: I Don’t Think WWE Return Was Ever On The Table

CM Punk believes that a return to WWE was pretty much out of the question.

Punk made his return to the pro wrestling industry after being away for seven years. The self-proclaimed “Best in the World” appeared on the Aug. 20 episode of AEW Rampage. He addressed his decision to return and revealed he will be wrestling Darby Allin at All Out on Sept. 5.

Appearing on The Angi Taylor Show, Punk explained not mentioning WWE by name in his return promo.

“I understand life’s tough and not everybody can do it, but I’m just somebody that will just never compromise myself. And I say the place I used to work because I don’t feel it’s specifically necessary to mention them when I don’t have to. I am full of anxiety and stress doing press for AEW right now that I’m inadvertently going to say a whole bunch of stupid stuff. People are going to break it down and use out-of-context quotes for clickbait.

“But the reality is you can’t talk to me, coming back after seven years, without bringing up the place I used to work. I’m just trying to do my best to not sling mud so to speak because everything I say about them is 100% the truth. I just want to focus on and highlight the positives of the new place I work, AEW. I’m trying here, I’m trying.”

Punk went on to say there was a time when he didn’t even think about making a return to the ring before AEW got started. He also made it clear that he doesn’t feel a WWE comeback was ever going to happen.

“I don’t think I considered it. Three years ago, five years ago I don’t think AEW even existed. I don’t think going back to WWE was ever really, logically, on the table.”

Punk made his exit from WWE following the 2014 Royal Rumble PPV. Punk was said to be destined for a WrestleMania match with Triple H that year. CM Punk told Colt Cabana that he was scheduled to win that match but he was burned out by that point.
