Dark Order’s Mr. Brodie Lee has reflected on his recent Dog Collar matchup against Cody. Lee opened up about their bout during a recent episode of AEW’s official podcast, Unrestricted.
Lee confessed how his favorite match of all time is the Dog Collar match between Roddy Piper and Greg Valentine. He added how he had originally pitched the idea of a Dog Collar match between himself and Cody as a joke.
“[…] when discussion of what should the big match be that we do, I almost jokingly threw out, ‘let’s do a Dog Collar Match.’ And everyone goes, ‘yeah, that’s a great idea.’ And I was like, ‘oh my God,’ so then the day of, they say, ‘hey, Valentine’s coming and he wants to talk to you.’ It was unreal.”
Lee shared how Valentine pulled them both aside and praised them for the bout after the match had concluded. He admitted that he has yet to rewatch the match and has only seen clips, revealing that he wants to “leave it as it is” because of how special it is to him.
Brodie Lee On Being “Terrified” Of Promo Time
Brodie Lee also opened up about how he’s been afforded creative freedoms delivering his promos in AEW. He revealed how the promo where he challenged Cody to the Dog Collar match was improvised without the need of a script.
This positive promo experience has led Lee to discover a renewed passion for mic time. Whereas he was once “terrified” of promo time, Lee explained how he now craves it.
“[…] I want that 10-minute promo. I crave it. It hit and it feels good,” Lee stated. “I don’t know the exact moment, but I feel like that promo with Cody and then the BTE leading up to that was kind of the turning point to where we are now.”
FTR member Dax Harwood has shared how he and his partner, Cash Wheeler, lobbied AEW for a matchup against the legendary Rock and Roll Express. Harwood revealed the pitch details during an interview with WrestleTalk, where he noted FTR had “begged” AEW President Tony Khan for the opportunity.
“Both of us have begged him multiple times to please book this match, please book this match. He’s apprehensive and he has his reasons to be apprehensive.”
Harwood noted how Khan is aware of a potential online backlash to FTR’s proposal. He pointed to how COVID-19 was a major contributing factor as the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express are “[…] more susceptible to the virus.”
“I understand that but man, FTR vs. Rock’ n’ Roll is great on the marquee, but also the way that myself and Cash, and I’ve talked about it all the time, but the way that we wanna make people feel, that match would help us make people feel a certain way.”
He noted how people “feel a certain way” about Ricky Morton in the same way as they do for FTR, whether it’s good or bad. He believes those feelings would help “evoke so much emotion” for a bout between the teams.
“That would help us evoke so much emotion… because if we got the chance to beat on Ricky Morton that would help our stock rise. You know, just the Spike Piledriver rose our stock so much more than a year of having great matches, and that would just help us so much if we can ever get that done.”
You can see the Spike Piledriver the FTR member is referencing in the video below:
Former WCW President Eric Bischoff made a surprise appearance during last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. He appeared to ask a question during the Chris Jericho and MJF Town Hell segment, discussing whether MJF should join the Inner Circle. During an episode of his podcast 83 Weeks, Bischoff addressed how his appearance came to be.
Bischoff recalled how AEW reached out to him, asking if he’d be interested in appearing on the show. He admitted he didn’t know what this entailed. Bischoff also noted that he didn’t ask any creative questions regarding the segment.
“They just wanted to know if I was available, and if I’d be interested. And I said, ‘Sure.’ I’d figure it out when it was time to figure it out. And then I found out oh, maybe five days before,” Bischoff revealed. “Just kind of a really brief outline of what that segment or scene, or whatever you wanna call it was going to be. And it was pretty straightforward. Like I said, it’s not like I had to get into character for it or anything. So it was easy, and it was fun. And I watched it last night live, I thought it was fairly effective.”
“Make It Your Own”
Bischoff also explained how he wanted to approach the “political” vibe of the segment with appropriate line delivery. He wanted to ensure he stayed consistent with what the Town Hall was. That being said, he still had some initial thoughts on the material he shared with Chris Jericho.
“I took what had been prepared for me in the notes and I went, ‘Oh yeah. But if I changed it up this way, it won’t change the meaning of anything. It does the exact same thing, it just kind of makes it feel more tuned-in politically, based on the theme of that segment.’”
He explained approaching Jericho with his notes and being given the go-ahead to change whatever he felt was necessary. According to Bischoff, Jericho told him to “make it your own,” which he did after “polishing it up a little bit” in his head.
Eric Bischoff On Not Telling MJF
Despite approaching Jericho about changing lines, Bischoff confessed he forgot to inform MJF.
“[…] it wasn’t until last night when I watched it, did I realize that I smartened up Chris, but I didn’t smarten up MJF. He had no idea that question was coming the way I posed it.”
Bischoff praised MJF’s ability to stay in the moment and improvise as needed without becoming flustered by the change. He stressed how a more experienced wrestler wouldn’t have an issue with the surprise, noting how most younger wrestlers would have been tripped up by the changes.
“[…] I should have gone to MJF and because it was close to showtime, and in my mind it didn’t really change that much, I went ‘Eh, whatever. I’ll just go out and do it.’ I didn’t decide not to do it, I just didn’t think to go smarten up MJF. And man, he just hit that thing like a two-hundred pound softball. Just splattered it. Didn’t miss a beat.”
Eric Bischoff added how MJF is “a very talented guy,” something he noted the wrestler is already fully aware of. Bischoff admitted MJF’s mic skills and improvisational ability left him highly “impressed” with the AEW star.
All Elite Wrestling has announced that Pac will appear on next week’s edition of Dynamite. It is not clear if this will be in a taped segment or if Pac will be live at Daily’s Place, however.
AEW took to Twitter to announce that Pac will be on next week’s edition of Dynamite:
Pac’s AEW Status
Pac hasn’t officially wrestled a match since March 11th. He teamed with his stablemates Pentagon Jr. and Fenix and defeated Private Party and Joey Janela. The Lucha Bros have since aligned with Eddie Kingston and the Butcher & The Blade.
Pac is 7-4-1 in singles matches in AEW and 2-2 in tag matches, giving him an overall record of 9-6-1 in the promotion. He is 2-1 in PPV matches, having defeated Kenny Omega at All Out 2019, lost to Hangman Page at Full Gear 2019, and defeated Orange Cassidy at Revolution 2020.
AEW President Tony Khan addressed Pac’s absence last month during a media call to promote All Out. Khan said everybody at AEW was really missing Pac in his absence. To read more about what Khan said, click on the below link:
Thunder Rosa is not joining WWE any time soon, despite reports to the contrary.
Earlier this week, Serena Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa to capture the NWA Women’s Championship. The unexpected title change set off speculation that Rosa dropped the title in anticipation of joining WWE. Dave Meltzer Wrestling Observer stated that the title change reaffirmed his belief that Thunder Rosa is in fact WWE bound.
Meltzer wrote on his website’s message board, “I think Rosa is going to WWE. I was told 2-3 weeks ago that Deeb was winning and Rosa was going to WWE and the first part just happened. If Rosa was going to AEW, she could keep her NWA title.”
NWA President Billy Corgan has commented on Thunder Rosa’s status on Thursday morning. He wrote on Instagram, that Thunder Rosa is not leaving the NWA because “She’s under contract thru 2021 and there’s a reason for that (it’s called excellence and faith).”
Corgan also took a dig at reports stating that Thunder Rosa was headed to WWE soon. “You have to love press and media reports that don’t contact the company she is under contract to but instead listen to someone who has my email address but doesn’t write and ask.”
Thunder Rosa addressed the rumors of her next move with two videos posted on social media. As seen below, she pulled down her shorts to reveal, “AEW? WWE? NWA?” written on her hip.
The Dark Order’s Brodie Lee was a recent guest on All Elite Wrestling’s official podcast, Unrestricted. During their discussion, Lee spoke about the perceived comparisons between his AEW character and WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon.
After Lee was revealed to be the Dark Order’s Exalted One back in March, he appeared in several backstage segments. According to him, there was rife speculation he was basing his on-screen character on WWE’s Vince McMahon. People pointed to the character’s dress sense, mannerisms, and characteristics as evidence of this.
“The Vince McMahon comparisons flew! That’s all people talked about the first 3 to 4 weeks of my AEW career, and that became I think detrimental to me, and I didn’t like it. I didn’t want it,” Lee stated.
The former TNT Champion continued, “So I tried to get away from the stuff that they were saying so as opposed to a multi-colored suit, I now went with a full tailored to me that I don’t think looks like a Vince McMahon or anybody else. This is my bi-monthly routine now is to go get a suit made, and I love it.”
Lee has denied that he based Mr. Brodie Lee on Vince McMahon. He has claimed that the majority of the gimmick’s characteristics are instead derived from mafia movies.
All Elite Wrestling star Miro has speculated on what Brock Lesnar could bring to the promotion if it decided to pursue him. He also shared his thoughts on whether AEW would “need” a talent like Lesnar.
Sharing his thoughts with Inside the Ropes, Miro had high praise for Lesnar’s ability to perform. He also noted how, when it comes to Lesnar’s star power, “The Beast Incarnate” can “be his own show.”
“I mean, Brock is great,” Miro said. “Brock, whatever he does, he’s an entity, right? He’s the show himself; he can be his own show himself. Would we benefit from it? I absolutely think we would. Do we need him? Absolutely not.”
During the interview, Miro also cast his attention on the rest of the AEW locker room. When asked who he’d consider AEW’s “diamond in the rough,” Miro was quick to name a few talents, stressing how the promotion is frequently giving opportunities for people to shine.
“That’s really hard to say because there’s just too many. We all know how good Ricky Starks is. We all know how good Kip Sabian is. We all know how good, clearly, Hangman is. Hangman is a fantastic guy! I’ve never worked with him, but just watching him–“
Miro also named other stars like Colt Cabana, Matt Sydal, Serena Deeb, and The Young Bucks. He noted how AEW has “[…] so many talented people under one roof and everybody wants to do great that night. We don’t save anything.”
According to him, the locker room all have the same mindset: to give it all that night. It’s this quality that he believes makes the locker room so unique.
AEW Dynamite aired from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. In addition to the takeaways below, Miro and Kip Sabian attacked Best Friends backstage.

Hangman Page Advanced To The Finals Of The Eliminator Tournament
Dynamite kicked off with MJF telling Wardlow that if he becomes champion he will be the AEW Champion because Wardlow is under contract with him. Sammy Guevara interrupted and told MJF that he is going to make sure that he doesn’t join Inner Circle. MJF told Sammy that he should never cut promos and looks like he sells aderrall to middle schoolers. Wardlow then battled Hangman Page in the 2nd round of the AEW Eliminator Tournament.
Match Recap: Hangman went right after Wardlow to start the match off but Wardlow quickly battled back and beat Page down in the corner of the ring. The action spilled to the outside and Hangman shoved Wardlow into the steel ring post. Wardlow responded with a massive Spear that sent Hangman Page through the barricade.
Back in the ring, Wardlow continued to dominate and stomped on Hangman. Wardlow connected with a Gutwrench Powerbomb for a near fall. Wardlow went for a Senton off the top rope but Hangman got out of the way. Hangman Page Clotheslined Wardlow out of the ring and made his way to the top rope.
Hangman connected with a massive Moonsault and both men fell to the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Hangman hit a Shooting Star Press for a one count. Hangman went for the Buckshot Lariat but Wardlow countered with a Clothesline of his own for near fall.
Wardlow hit F10 but couldn’t go for the cover because Page rolled out of the ring. Hangman planted Wardlow with a Fallaway Slam off the top rope and then went to the apron. Page hit the Buckshot Lariat but Wardlow didn’t go down. Hangman followed it up with another Buckshot Lariat for the pinfall victory. Hangman Page advanced to the finals of the AEW Eliminator Tournament.
Eddie Kingston Sent A Message To Jon Moxley
Eddie Kingston battled Matt Sydal tonight. Butcher, The Blade, and The Bunny accompanied Kingston to the ring. Eddie Kingston said that he is sick of talking and wants a fight but AEW Champion Jon Moxley is at home. Kingston called Jon a coward and once again noted that he wasn’t eliminated from Casino Battle Royal. Eddie called Sydal the joker for his epic botch during the Battle Royal.
Match Recap: Kingston refused to lock up with Sydal to start the match. They then locked up and Kingston drove Sydal to the corner. Sydal escaped and hit Kingston with a chop to the chest. Sydal hit a couple Arm Drags then locked in an Armbar. Sydal booted Kingston in the face and followed it up with a Dropkick for a two count.
Kingston slammed Sydal to the mat and hit him with an Elbow Drop as Dynamite went to a commercial break. When Dynamite returned, Sydal hit Kingston with a Dropkick for a two count. Sydal followed it up with a Hurricanrana and then Double Knees for another near fall.
Eddie caught Sydal with a knee to the midsection as Jake Roberts and Lance Archer were shown watching in the crowd. Kingston used Moxley’s Bulldog Choke for the submission victory. Kingston refused to let go of the hold as Butcher, Blade, and Bunny got in the ring. Eddie demanded that Sydal say he quits and Matt did. Kingston will face Jon Moxley at Full Gear in an I Quit match for the AEW Championship.
The Young Bucks Will Not Challenge For The AEW Tag Team Titles Again If They Lose At Full Gear
Excalibur sat down with the Young Bucks and AEW Tag Team Champions FTR were at a different location via satellite. Matt Jackson said that his injury will not stop them from battling FTR at Full Gear. FTR stated that whoever wins at Full Gear will cement their legacy as the best tag team in the world.
Excalibur suggested that what happened to Matt last week was deserved because of the recent actions of the Young Bucks. Matt said that they have been suffering for the last year and there has been something missing. Matt stated that FTR started screwing with their livelihoods and manipulating their friends.
The Young Bucks claimed that FTR has lit a fire inside them and brought back the edge that they were missing. FTR then took off their microphones and left. The Young Bucks announced that if they do not win at Full Gear they will never challenge for the AEW Tag Team Championships ever again.
MJF Can Join Inner Circle If He Defeats Jericho At Full Gear
Tony and Dasha hosted the Town Hall Meeting tonight. Inner Circle made their way to the ring first as the crowd sang Judas. MJF then came to the ring and Luchasaurus asked the first question. Luchasaurus asked MJF how can he add to the earning potential of Inner Circle and MJF presented a chart. MJF claimed that he had all of the top financial advisors help him on it and the chard said that Inner Circle’s earnings would go up if he joined.
Britt Baker and Reba asked the next question. Reba said Jericho has a great smile and is so handsome. Britt told her to stop being weird and shoved her away. Baker noted that MJF has a terrible track record when it comes to friendship and wondered how Jericho felt about that.
Jericho said he is not a dipshit like Cody and will knock MJF’s teeth down his throat if he turns on them. MJF said that they will get a whole lot of green and a lot of gold if he joins Inner Circle. Peter Avalon asked if he could join the Innter Circle and they laughed in his face.
Eric Bischoff returned and asked a three pronged question. Bischoff said president John F. Kennedy said “ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country” and asked MJF what he can do for Inner Circle. MJF simply responded “friendship” and the crowd booed.
Bischoff stated that most consider MJF as nearly a complete package and wondered what Inner Circle could do for him. MJF corrected Bischoff and said he is not nearly a total package, he is a total package. Eric noted that he worked with Jericho for many years and called him a primadonna.
Jericho tried to respond but Schiavone interrupted and told Chris to shut up. Bischoff said MJF was a primadonna as well and said that they just might wind up killing each other if MJF joins Inner Circle. MJF dodged the question and Jericho asked how are they supposed to know that MJF wont stab them in the back.
MJF stated that he gave Jericho the best segment of his career last week on Dynamite. MJF asked Chris what exactly hasn’t he done and Jericho said that he has never beat him. Jericho challenged MJF to a match at Full Gear and if MJF wins he can join Inner Circle. MJF told Jericho that he will do whatever it takes to win the match at Full Gear.
Ortiz told MJF to shut up and that he doesn’t want him in Inner Circle. Ortiz said that he is teaming with Sammy next week to face MJF and Wardlow and that MJF will not make it to the PPV.
Fans now know who will be in the finals of the tournament that will determine the new #1 contender to the AEW World Heavyweight Title.
The semi-finals of the tournament took place on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT at the Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The pair of matches saw Wardlow vs. Hangman Page and Kenny Omega vs. Penta El Zero M.
As seen on the show, Page went over Wardlow in the opening contest while Omega beat Penta El Zero M in the headliner.
It should be noted the Penta replaced Rey Fenix in this contest as Fenix was injured in their first round match that took place. He landed badly on his shoulder and was pulled from the tournament out of medical concern as he has worked injured in the match.
The finals between Page and Omega will see to find out who will be the next in line for the AEW World Title. Some fans knew the finals in advance as the show was taped last Thursday and spoilers got out.
The AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020, in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place.
Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite not only featured a special appearance by Eric Bischoff but also made Chris Jericho vs. MJF official for the upcoming Full Gear show.
Dynamite saw Inner Circle hold a Town Hall Meeting to determine if MJF could join up with the group. Various stars asked questions to figure out whether MJF could be a good fit for the group.
During this, Eric Bischoff also made a cameo to ask a couple of different questions such as how they would know the other wouldn’t attack them once in the group.
This led to Jericho throwing out the challenge for a match at Full Gear. The stipulation is that if MJF beats him then he can join the group, and MJF accepted.
This marked Bischoff’s second AEW appearance as he previously hosted a debate between Jericho and Orange Cassidy. This was at a time where the two AEW stars were feuding and heading into their third match, which just so happened to be a Mimosa Mayhem Match at the All Out pay-per-view event last month.
Jericho stated in a live stream that he came up with the idea to use Bischoff as well as the way he portrayed as the moderator for the segment.
AEW has released new top-5 rankings ahead of tonight’s episode of Dynamite.
AEW Men’s Singles Division
AEW World Champion: Jon Moxley (20-0) TNT Champion: Cody (19-2-1)
Brian Cage (10-1)
MJF (9-1)
Lance Archer (13-2)
Brodie Lee (8-2)
Darby Allin (12-5) (previously unranked)
The #5 ranking in this division is in a state of flux. In recent weeks, Shawn Spears, Scorpio Sky and now Darby Allin has occupied the spot. Allin is scheduled to challenge either Cody or Orange Cassidy for the TNT title at Full Gear. Cody and Cassidy will clash tonight in a lumberjack match with the belt on the line.
4 unranked wrestlers will compete in the semi-finals of the contender tournament tonight. Kenny Omega will face Penta El Zero M and Hangman Page will face Wardlow.
AEW Women’s Division
AEW Women’s Champion: Hikaru Shida (19-1)
Nyla Rose (11-2)
Penelope Ford (9-5)
Abadon (5-1)
Big Swole (10-4)
Dr. Britt Baker (6-6)
There was no movement in the women’s division rankings this week. #5 Britt Baker brought her 2020 singles record back to .500 with a win over KiLynn King on Dynamite last week.
The NWA Women’s Championship will be on the line tonight. New champion Serena Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa last night on the UWN show. She’ll defend against Leyla Hirsch tonight.
AEW Tag Team Division
AEW Tag Team Champions: FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (12-0)
Young Bucks (8-3)
Best Friends (18-7)
The Natural Nightmares (8-2)
Butcher and the Blade (10-5)
Santana & Ortiz (8-5)
#1 The Young Bucks retain their top-ranking in the division this week. They earned a tag title shot against FTR at Full Gear with their win the 4-way tag match on Dynamite last week.
There was no movement in the tag-team rankings this week. There are also no tag matches scheduled for Dynamite tonight, so the rankings for this division will likely stand still going into next week as well.
Thunder Rosa and Serena Deeb met last night on UWN Primetime Live with the NWA Women’s Championship on the line. It was a rematch from an earlier show that saw Thunder Rosa successfully retain her belt. This week, however, it was Serena Deeb who would score the pinfall and win the title for the first time in her career.
Deeb is signed to AEW and shortly after she won the title, Tony Khan announced she will defend it on tonight’s episode of Dynamite. Leyla Hirsch will be Deeb’s first challenger.
The title dates back to Mildred Burke’s reign beginning in the 1930s. The Fabulous Moolah would win the title in the 1950s and become synonymous with it up until the WWWF withdrew from the NWA. Debbie Combs would be crowned the first champion in the new era for the title in 1986.
Jazz won the title in 2016 but vacated it in 2019. Allysin Kay then defeated Santana Garrett at the Crockett Cup in 2019 to become the new champion. She then dropped it to Thunder Rosa at the Hard Times PPV in January. In total, 30 wrestlers have held the title.
All Elite Wrestling’s Miro has shared his feelings on how his former employer has been booking his real-life wife, Lana.
The former Rusev joined Inside The Ropes for an interview where he revealed his thoughts on the subject. When asked if his signing with AEW was the reason behind Lana being put through announce tables, Miro replied, “I don’t book their shows, I have no idea.”
Miro explained how Lana is “[…] most likely tougher than anybody else on their roster because clearly, that’s the first time in history that’s been done. And every single time, she gets the f**k up and keeps going, you know. She doesn’t say, ‘No.’ She doesn’t say, ‘I don’t want to do that.’ She doesn’t sell.”
Miro stressed how Lana will always go out to the ring, be a professional, and do her job to perfection. According to him, “[…] you can see, in that ring, when she gets that time, you can see who’s who and who’s been working, and who’s been sitting on their a***s the whole time.”
He stressed how he’s “so freaking proud” of what she’s accomplished. In Miro’s eyes, Lana has proven herself to be the most talented and underrated person in the wrestling community.
Inner Circle member Jake Hager thinks AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has what it takes to be a successful MMA fighter.
Hager knows a thing or two about success inside the fighting cage. The former WWE World Heavyweight champion has a 2-0 record in mixed martial arts. He fights again this Thursday night against Brandon Calton (also 2-0) at Bellator 250.
The ‘Big Hurt’ spoke with MMANews.com this week to promote the fight. When asked which AEW star he thinks could cross over to MMA, he named Moxley. Hager and Moxley fought for the AEW World Championship in an ‘Empty Arena No Holds Barred Match’ on the April 15th edition of Dynamite.
“I know after wrestling him for that [AEW] championship, for 43 minutes in front of no audience, in the Florida heat, that man has what it takes to go five rounds,” said Hager. “He’s trained just a little bit and I think he’s a natural for (MMA). He definitely has that I don’t care attitude, and I’m ready to fight.”
The respect between Hager and Moxley is mutual. We conducted an exclusive interview with Jon Moxley back in July and he spoke extensively about their No Holds Barred Empty Arena match. Moxley recalls the two of them “beating the absolute hell out of each other.”
“I worked myself up to a point where I think ‘I really hate this guy and I really want to go out there and hurt him.’ So, I guess it’s similar in that way to a movie. You got to bring the energy from within. And then that match, add that nice Florida humidity, and I broke a nice little sweat. I got into a groove, just kind of free flowing and wrestling. And we beat the absolute hell out of each other and it was quite fun.”
Check our full interview with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley below:
Cody Rhodes has tried to make the AEW TNT Title as special as any title that the promotion has to offer. On Monday, it took things up a notch and no doubt got fans talking with a post on his Twitter account. According to the All Elite Wrestling executive, this is the most important belt in all of wrestling over the past year.
Rhodes will make his next title defense against Orange Cassidy this Wednesday night on Dynamite.
If he can get past the fan-favorite star, then he will defend it against Darby Allin at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event on November 7th from Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place. Rhodes was the inaugural champion before dropping it to Brodie Lee only to win it back after a brief absence from television.

Inner Circle Town Hall Meeting to decide if MJF will join the group
We have an update on AEW star Abadon, who was injured earlier this week at a taping for AEW Dynamite. She wrestled Tay Conti at Thursday’s TV tapings from Jacksonville, FL in a match is scheduled to air next week on Dynamite.
The injury took place mid-way through the match, which was cut short before Abadon was sent to the hospital for an evaluation. Brian Alvarez reports (via Wrestling Observer Radio) that Abadon took an elbow to the throat, which rendered her unable to breathe. This made for a very scary situation and
Despite the serious nature of the injury, doctors determined that she will be fine without any longterm damage. We wish Abadon a speedy recovery.
Abadon is the #3 ranked female competitor in AEW. She first competed for AEW back in March in an AEW Dark match against current Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida. She currently holds a 5-1 record.
Former WWE Superstar Ryback recently discussed the contentious AEW Dynamite segment featuring MJF and ‘Le Champion’ Chris Jericho.
The musical segment caused a ton of conversation since it aired on Wednesday, with the actual low rating for that quarter hour of the show adding to the back and forth. It would turn out that the quarter hour had an audience of 676,000 viewers.
Chris Jericho, however, would tout the success of the actual musical number, saying that the minute by minute rating proved it was a success. Jericho tweeted, “Just saw minute by minute ratings for #LeDinnerDebonair. I’m stoked that almost 800k checked out our song and dance! Fifth highest demo for #AEWDynamite as well. Add over a million views on Twitter & it looks like our experiment paid off!”
Ryback’s Take
“I watched the entire thing and was entertained by it” Ryback began on the Shooting Blanks Wrestling podcast. “It caught me completely off guard, I was not expecting that at all. I don’t know if anybody was expecting that!? We’ve ever seen it.”
“I’m not against stuff like that at all” The Big Guy would continue. “Because I think you do need to try things. I mean, that was why I asked that question ‘let’s see what the rating said and if the rating showed an increase? It’s not something you’re gonna do every week. They’re not gonna have Jericho and MJF just do Broadway’s every week you know?”
Ryback would further praise the pair for the creativity of the segment. “I think it was a way to do something outside the box in a creative way at a time where creativity is kind of. We need creativity right now with everything going on. I didn’t hate it at all and I enjoyed it. I watched the entire thing, and I go ‘whoa I’ve never seen anything like this before.’ And I thought, both of them? They pulled that off as well as they could have.”
The Big Guy would finish by discussing how the segment worked from a character standpoint. “They had the the character stuff up front, and I thought it created a really interesting dynamic and story with them. Just how they’re both kind of scumbags and dropping the girls at the same time and doing little things like that. I thought it was really cool and interesting.”
Do you agree with Ryback? Did you enjoy the segment? Will this help the MJF and Chris Jericho feud? Let us know in the comments
AEW’s Abadon was reportedly injured yesterday at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, Abadon was injured while filming a match against Tay Conti and she was taken to hospital.
No further details are currently available other than she is expected to make a full recovery.
Abadon in AEW
Abadon is a 1-year pro from Colorado. She was trained by Rocky Mountain Pro Wrestling. Her unique look and gimmick put her on AEW’s radar early into her career. She made her AEW debut on an episode of Dark in March. She lost to Hikaru Shida but has since won 5 straight and occupies the #3 ranking in the division.
Abadon’s AEW record:
3/4/20: lost to Hikaru Shida
6/11/20: defeated Anna Jay (Dynamite debut)
7/16/20: defeated Skyler Moore
7/29/20: defeated KiLynn King
8/12/20: defeated Red Velvet
8/27/20: defeated Dani Jordyn
Her opponent at the tapings, Tay Conti, was signed to the company this summer. She’s had 4 matches in the promotion thus far:
Tay Conti’s AEW Record:
7/29/20: Anna Jay & Tay Conti defeated Ariane Andrew & Nyla Rose
7/29/20: Diamante & Ivelisse defeated Anna Jay & Tay Conti
9/9/20: Nyla Rose defeated Tay Conti (Dynamite debut)
Chris Jericho and MJF received high praise for their Le Dinner Debonair segment.
The segment aired this past Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. Fans didn’t know what to expect from it going in, but the majority of fans liked it while a minority of the fanbase didn’t.
There was tension as they tried to one-up each other while ordering steaks until they started signing. Jericho took to his Twitter account where he touted the success of it:
Jericho wrote, “Just saw minute by minute ratings for #LeDinnerDebonair & I’m stoked that almost 800k checked out our song and dance! Fifth highest demo for #AEWDynamite as well. Add over a million views on Twitter & it looks like our experiment paid off! The #DemoGod wins again! @The_MJF.”
Dynamite drew 753,000 live viewers on TNT and ranked #13 among the top 150 shows on cable by doing a 0.30 in the 18-49 demographic.

AEW released a video on Friday featuring Eddie Kingston announcing the change. Kingston did not specify the nature of Fenix’s injury, but assured him this is not about him, it’s about ‘the family.’
Fenix defeated his brother and tag team partner this week on Dynamite, but was injured during the match.
The following is an updated look at the tournament semi-finals, which take place next week:
Penta El Zero M vs. Kenny Omega
Hangmna Page vs. Wardlow
The finals of the World Title Eliminator Tournament take place at Full Gear. The winner earns a shot at the AEW World Champion at a future date.
Dark Order member Alex Reynolds has provided another update on his condition after getting ‘knocked out’ during the main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite.
In a statement issued Friday afternoon, Reynolds thanked everyone who has reached out to him this week. He wrote on social media:
“Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for all the concerns for my health. It means the world to me. I truly believe the ref and our doctor handled the situation great on Wednesdays show. Injuries happen in wrestling, but I feel completely safe with our team here. Thanks again and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.”
The incident took place during the 4-way tag team match that closed the show. Reynolds was injured while taking a series of moves from Private Party, which you can see below.
As seen below, Reynolds was tended to after the show went off the air. AEW Executive VP Cody came out to check on him.
At Full Gear on November 7th, 2020, Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara’s feud will continue with an Elite Deletion match. According to comments made recently on Wrestling Observer Radio, this will be a cinematic match taped ahead of time.
“This will be a cinematic match,” said Dave Meltzer on the show. “I don’t know if they are going to do it at the Hardy compound, I didn’t ask. But I know that it’s going to be a taped match and it’s not going live.”
The feud between Guevara and Hardy has been somewhat plagued by injuries. Hardy was busted up on an episode of Dynamite after Guevara tossed a heavy chair at his head. Then at the All Out PPV, Hardy was knocked unconcisous after both wrestlers jumped off a lift through a table. The match was re-started after Hardy was cleared to continue.
“I know that the original idea was to do it at Hardy’s house,” Meltzer continued. “I don’t know that they are or they’re not, I haven’t asked that one yet. That was the plan for this feud going back to March. At the beginning, they couldn’t do it there. So, that may be what this is, the plan they always had and finally getting to do this match.”
“Hardy and Sammy Guevara at the Hardy Compound was an idea that they had dating back well before the pandemic,” he continued. “The idea of them doing a cinematic match was always planned.”

Serpentico is All Elite. The popular independent wrestler confirmed the news to Inside The Ropes earlier this week.
The high flying star spoke to the site and discussed his signing with AEW. The “Snakeman” says he’s beyond grateful to work for a company that cares about their talent.
“SNAKEMAN is ALL ELITE! I’ve been under a deal for a few months now. This is going to sound like I’m playing favorites because I work for the company now but I’m beyond grateful to work for a company that cares so much for the people that work for them. Before signing I was already made to feel at home.”
He added that everyone in AEW has been very welcoming. Unlike other places he’s worked, he feels that you can approach anybody for advice and that is welcomed.
Serpentico made his AEW debut back in March. He has been a regular for AEW Dark since then and has made a number of appearances on Dynamite too.
The newest AEW star has already made his PPV debut for the promotion as well and he faced Joey Janela in a singles match at the All Out Buy-In.
Alex Reynolds was rendered unconscious last night during the Dynamite main event. He was hit with a leg-drop/splash combo off the top-rope by Private Party during the match that knocked him out.
According to comments made on Wrestling Observer Radio, however, Reynolds was feeling fine after the match.
“He left on his own and the word from after the show was that he was feeling great afterwards, whatever that means,” Bryan Alvarez said. “I don’t know how you feel great after that.”
Alvarez would continue to mention that those involved in the match didn’t notice that Reynolds was injured.
“When you see it, it’s inconceivable, but if you watch everybody else in the match, like nobody notices.”
Fans on Twitter noted that Cody came out to check on him after the show went off the air:
Reynolds and his longtime partner, John Silver, were wrestling with a chance to face the tag-team champions at Full Gear. The Young Bucks won the match and will take on the champions at the PPV.
Silver and Reynolds are often featured on episodes of Being the Elite as well. They are the recruitment specialists for the Dark Order. The duo has teamed together since 2011 and are former PWG and CZW tag-team champions.
AEW Dynamite aired from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. It was announced that Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Eddie Kingston in an I Quit match at Full Gear.
