Jake Roberts Gives Details On His New Client

Jake “the Snake” Roberts shocked the wrestling world last week on Dynamite by coming out to confront Cody Rhodes. Roberts told Cody and the live crowd that he was not there to praise Cody but rather to slay him. He then said he was once told to never turn his back on someone he is afraid of or someone he respects before doing exactly that to Cody.

Roberts mentioned that he has a new client he will be managing and that client is going to face Cody. The legend posted the following details about his new client to his Instagram stories:

Previously, Roberts had posted a picture of his appearance on Dynamite last night with the following caption:

    “Beware AEW…The Darkness has arrived.
And to answer your questions: Yes I wrote what I said. No I don’t ever do “practice runs.” On the first shot I give you my heart and soul. I’m not giving up my sobriety. And…I have so much more left to do…the time is NOW.”

    Jake “the Snake” Roberts

Roberts is arguably one of the most compelling wrestlers of all time and his debut on Dynamite last week garnered a strong response online from fans and those in the wrestling industry alike.

With speculation that Matt Hardy could be AEW bound running rampant, the free agent teased that we could find out more about his future soon..

Hardy and the Young Bucks have been building a story via YouTube as of late. With Dynamite set to air tonight, Hardy is teasing that “Today is the Day.”

He followed that Tweet up to state that a special episode of #FreetheDelete will be available later today:

    Matt Hardy’s Free Agency

Hardy recently spoke to SI.com about his free agency. He mentioned that he has spoken with Impact, NWA, and NXT in addition to AEW.

“My goal is to legitimately surprise people and draw emotion from them. I always want to entertain the audience and keep them guessing. I’ll make a decision within the next 30 days, and it could be by next week. It all depends on how everything comes together,” Matt would say. “I am speaking with AEW, and I am very close with the Young Bucks. We’ve been great friends for a long time. They understand this business and know how to break the fourth wall and have fun with all of this. They really are special. I’ve also spoken with IMPACT and I spoke with the NWA. I had great conversations just this week with Triple H about NXT.”

Hardy’s time in Impact Wrestling came to a bit of tumultuous end but he has since offered much praise to the promotion. He seems to be into the angle with ICU:

Hardy also recently took the time to compliment the team of Jurassic Express, who wrestled last night on AEW Dark:

  • AEW Rankings Released For 3/11/20

    AEW Rankings Released For 3/11/20

AEW has released its weekly rankings for March 11th, 2020. The promotion releases new top-5 rankings every Wednesday for its men’s, women’s and tag team divisions.

    AEW Men’s Division

    World Champion: Jon Moxley (7-0)

    2. MJF (3-0)
    3. Kenny Omega (1-0)
    4. PAC (3-2) (+1)
    5. Cody Rhodes (3-1) (-1)

The only movement in the men’s single’s division this week saw PAC move up to the #4 spot after defeating Chuck Taylor. MJF and Cody didn’t compete this week. Kenny Omega is on the shelf with an injured hand so he didn’t compete this week either. Jericho picked up a win in the main event of Dynamite as he and Sammy Guevara defeated Darby Allin. Jon Moxley was supposed to be Allin’s partner but was attacked pre-match by the Inner Circle.

    AEW Women’s Division

    Champion: Nyla Rose (4-1)

    1. Hikaru Shida (4-1)
    2. Riho (3-1)
    3. Kris Statlander (2-2)
    4. Yuka Sakazaki (1-1)
    5. Britt Baker (2-2)

There was no movement in the women’s rankings this week. Big Swole picked up a win over Leva Bates on Dynamite this week so she might have earned some votes but still sits outside the top-5. Hikaru Shida defeated Abadon this week on Dark to retain her #1 ranking.

    AEW Tag Team Division

Champions: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page (6-0)

    1. The Dark Order (5-0)
    2. The Young Bucks (2-0)
    3. SCU (2-3)
    4. Best Friends (3-2)
    5. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara (1-0) (previously unranked)

Private Party falls out of the top-5 rankings this week. They picked up a win on Dark against Brandon Cutler and Sonny Kiss but Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara) crack the rankings after their win over Darby Allin & Jon Moxley in the main event of Dynamite, although Moxley never did make it to the match.

The Dark Order lost in 8-man tag action this week to SCU and Colt Cabana but that doesn’t count to their 2-on-2 record. Jurassic Express picked up a win on Dark as well over Kip Sabian and Peter Avalon but still sit outside the top-5.

  • Chris Jericho Comments On Coronavirus, Fozzy Tour

Chris Jericho Comments On Coronavirus, Fozzy Tour

Former All Elite Wrestling World Champion Chris Jericho won’t allow coronavirus concerns to derail his upcoming Fozzy tour. Speaking with TMZ Sports, Jericho explained how the tour would still be going ahead, stating how he doesn’t think the public should be panicking the way they are.

“Why wouldn’t it?” Jericho said after being asked if the tour was still on. “I don’t think the public should panic so much. [We’re still going on] unless the cops tells us we can’t.” He then referred to the coronavirus situation as “mass hysteria.”

    Chris Jericho’s Tour Dates

Jericho reportedly chose the dates of the upcoming tour so that there would be no conflict with his AEW commitments. Fozzy’s “Save The World” tour begins on Thursday, April 16 in Savannah, GA. It will culminate on Sunday, August 9 in Sturgis, South Dakota.

His words come in the wake of multiple events, conventions, attractions and other tours being shut down in order to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Chris Jericho lost the AEW World Championship to the current titleholder, Jon Moxley, during AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view on February 29. Jericho recently competed in a match on AEW Dynamite. He promised that if Moxley walked away of his own accord, he would take a leave of absence from AEW for 60 days. Last week’s episode of Dynamite ended with the Inner Circle power bombing Moxley off the ramp and through a table.

Kenny Omega Not Medically Cleared, Hangman Page to Team With Mystery Partner Next Week

One week out from AEW Revolution, All Elite Wrestling has announced that Kenny Omega is still not medically cleared to compete.

Omega, one half of the AEW tag team champions with “Hangman” Page, injured his hand last weekend at Revolution during their successful title defense against the Young Bucks.

AEW has announced that Omega will will be kept out of action for another 1-2 weeks. As a result, he will be unable to compete this coming week on Dynamite.

Hangman Page will now select a mystery partner for a non-title match against Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara Wednesday night from Salt Lake City, UT.

Ahead of next week, catch up on our 6 Takeaways from last week’s broadcast:

  • AEW’s Latest Dark Order Message Teases Matt Hardy As The Exalted One

AEW’s Latest Dark Order Message Teases Matt Hardy As The Exalted One

All Elite Wrestling has released another cryptic message teasing the forthcoming arrival of the Dark Order’s mystery leader, The Exalted One.

The message, seen below, depicts a disturbing image of what is to come once the Exalted One’s identity is revealed.

MADE FROM THE VOID OF HOPELESSNESS
AND FROM TIME SPENT AWAY WITH THE SHADOWS
THIS IS WHAT IT TOOK FOR ME TO ARRIVE
    THE CALLING….

    HELLO?
    ARE YOU THERE?
    READY & WAITING
    DARK ORDER WELCOMES ME
    YOU ARE HERE

As you may have noticed, the first letter of each sentence spells out, “MATT HARDY.” Matt Hardy is in fact a free agent and is expected to join AEW in the near future.

Matt Hardy: Exalted One of AEW’s Dark Order?

Hardy seems like an obvious contender to be the Exalted One. His out-there ‘broken brilliance’ character could add an exciting creative dimension to the Dark Order storyline. Alternatively, the Matt Hardy teases could be a red herring. The Dark Order is a cult that preys upon people with psychological manipulation. For all we know, the Exalted One could be Luke Harper, Lance Archer, Jake Roberts, Raven or someone else entirely – and it’s Broken Matt Hardy coming in to declare war on the Dark Order.

Whoever the Exalted One is, hopefully we find out in the next couple weeks. The ‘iron it hot’ and it’s time for AEW to strike and deliver the payoff.

Nyla Rose Admits ‘Online Flak’ Helped Motivate Her After Title Win

Nyla Rose defeated former champion Riho to claim the AEW Women’s Championship a few weeks ago on AEW Dynamite. Not everyone was happy about her victory, however. Speaking with TV Insider, Rose spoke about AEW’s attitude towards having a transgender Women’s Champion. She also addressed the backlash she has received, admitting that the “online flak” has helped motivate her.

Rose explained how AEW doesn’t make her transgenderism a “checkmark.” Instead, it’s just one of those things that is simply there. She noted how “Everyone knows about it, but nobody talks about it. That’s not a matter of us wanting to be hush-hush or hide this. They’re not making it a thing because it shouldn’t be a thing. You are a person and a performer first. That’s what I love so much and makes me feel so proud to be part of this company because they are helping normalize these ideals.”

    Nyla Rose On “Onlike Flak”

When it comes to her championship win, Nyla reflected on her first promo after having won the belt. She confessed that she was well aware of the online reaction to her.

“Some of the motivation came from a lot of the online flak you see out there. A lot of pushback. That added fuel to the fire,” Rose said. “I was trying to wrap everything up and have it make sense. I wanted to keep it short and sweet and to the point. I wanted to put all the competition on notice that I’m not going to take this lightly. I’m not going to take anything lying down.”

Nyla Rose recently defended her AEW Women’s Championship against Kris Statlander at AEW Revolution.

  • Six-Man Tag Team Match Announced For Next Week’s AEW Dynamite

Six-Man Tag Team Match Announced For Next Week’s AEW Dynamite

Another match has been added to the lineup for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

PAC, Pentagon Jr., and Ray Fenix will have their first match as a trio, which is named Death Triangle, that was recently formed.

AEW announced Thursday on social media that the group will face Private Party and Joey Janela on the show from Salt Lake City, Utah on TNT.

This comes after PAC picked up a win over Chuck Taylor on this week’s Dynamite via submission in Broomfield, CO at the 1stBank Center. After the match, Trent went face to face with PAC only to get pushed aside by Orange Cassidy.

Cassidy, who lost to PAC at AEW Revolution pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center, wanted to wrestle PAC one more time. However, the Lucha Bros then ran out and attacked the Best Friends.

On the flip side, on last week’s AEW Dark episode, Private Party picked up a win over Shawn Spears and Brandon Cutler.

Here’s the updated card for Dynamite next Wednesday night:

    • Cody vs. Ortiz
    • MJF/Butcher & The Blade vs. Jurassic Express
    • The announcement of the rules for the Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite
    • The Death Triangle vs. Joey Janela and Private Party

  • Darby Allin ‘Hospitalized’ After AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley Storyline Update

Darby Allin ‘Hospitalized’ After AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley Storyline Update

Storyline updates have surfaced online about Jon Moxley and Darby Allin.

This comes after their tag team match on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Broomfield, CO at the 1stBank Center on TNT.

They took on Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. At the end of the match,  Jericho connected with his spinning back elbow finisher, Judas Effect, to Allin, who went for a suicide dive on Jericho.

The elbow caught Allin in the head before he crashed to the ground.

After the show, Allin noted on his official Twitter account that he went to the hospital. It should be noted that he mentioned the following day that he was back to skating.

    https://twitter.com/DarbyAllin/status/1235442164793896960

Regarding Moxley, after the main event, The Inner Circle attacked the AEW World Heavyweight Champion and led to him getting power bombed off the stage through a table.

AEW mentioned on Twitter that “doctors refuse to clear Moxley to wrestle until he passes their examination. Nevertheless, the champion told AEW that he won’t take any time off (“Over my dead body!”). Moxley will speak next week on #AEWDynamite.”

These angles will be followed up on next week’s episode of Dynamite.

  • Jake Roberts Makes Appearance On AEW Dynamite, Teases Talent Arrival

Jake Roberts Makes Appearance On AEW Dynamite, Teases Talent Arrival

All Elite Wrestling had a surprise in store for fans watching Dynamite on Wednesday night and that was Jake “The Snake” Roberts.

Cody Rhodes came out for a promo near the end of the first hour on TNT in Broomfield, CO at the 1stBank Center.

He did so to call out MJF, who beat Rhodes at Saturday’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view event. Instead of MJF coming out, the WWE Hall of Famer did.

This is where Roberts cut a promo about how he was tired of hearing Rhodes complain and had a message for him. He won’t take on Rhodes but his client will. Roberts never revealed who his client was but referred to the person as The Dark Side.

He noted that they were here to not take the whole company but rather just Rhodes’ piece of the pie.

Roberts ended his promo by stating, “Never ever turn your back on somebody you respect or you’re afraid of” before walking away and tossing the microphone behind him as he exited the ring.

For those who may have forgotten, back at last year’s All Out, Roberts had made an appearance in an AEW video that announced some of the participants for a women’s Casino Battle Royale.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on who Roberts’ client is or when the person will be revealed.

Zenith is the name of Hardy’s broken “essence.”

“You were the only two that have been able to separate Zenith from my body,” Hardy says in the video. “There are great higher powers out there that believe in me and if I believe in them then I’ll have everlasting life, everlasting broken brilliance. Zenith is infected. Zenith is dying. I need you two to come to the Hardy Compound and remove Zenith from my body again and bury us both.”

“In the meantime, I’m going to get my affairs in order in case anything goes wrong. Thanks, see you soon.”

Newly signed All Elite Wrestling (AEW) talent Lance Archer has lashed back at online critics. Having teased his interest in multiple promotions including NXT and Ring of Honor, the former IWGP United States Champion eventually signed with AEW.

Taking to Twitter, Archer promised that he doesn’t intend to block social media trolls and haters. Instead, he will simply ignore their very existence. He added how they can catch him performing on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday nights.

“To all the trolls n haters. I will not block you. I will not respond to you. I will not acknowledge your existence. I will ignore you and let you and your maybe 20 followers disappear into insignificance. Buh buh now. Watch me on Wednesdays on TNT and keep hating.”

    Lance Archer Is All Elite

Previously addressing his decision to sign a multi-year contract with AEW, Lance Archer said:

“I’ve been in the business for almost half of my life, but with AEW, I’m setting my sights on the best chapter of my career so far. This company champions the creative, competitive and electrifying environment that I’ve been waiting for my whole career. No matter where I go—no matter who steps in front of me—I’m the one you should be afraid of at AEW.”

  • Konnan Offers Insight On AEW/AAA Relationship

Konnan Offers Insight On AEW/AAA Relationship

One year ago, All Elite Wrestling announced a strategic partnership with Mexico’s AAA promotion. Since that time, AEW talent has appeared on AAA shows. Last summer’s AEW TripleMania show saw Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and the Lucha Bros. in action. AEW tag team champion Kenny Omega is the reigning AAA Mega Champion. However, we never saw an influx of AAA stars on the AEW roster.

On the latest episode of his Keepin It 100 podcast, Mexican wrestling legend Konnan shed some light on the situation. According to Konnan, he believes AEW put the AAA partnership on hold when they realized the grind of doing weekly television.

“When (AEW) first started they were very high on El Hijo del Vikingo, they were very high on Laredo Kid,” Konnan said.

Disco Inferno then interjected that Vampiro has been high on Vikingo as well.

“Well he actually discovered him, Vamp’s the one that discovered him. When I got to AAA, Vamp hadn’t used him. I was like ‘how come you’re never on TV? How long has it been since you’ve been on TV? He said ‘like 5 months’ I was ‘bro, you need to be on TV every week.’ So, he was just one of the guys I started to push.”

Konnan on AEW Using AAA Talent

Konnan then continued to talk about how AEW wanted to sign Laredo Kid.

“They wanted El Hijo del Vikingo, they talked to Laredo Kid and then just as Laredo Kid was about to sign, he got on this humungous reality show in Mexico and he was there for like 3 or 4 months, so they’ve been interested.”

Konnan then continued to talk about his feeling that AEW discovered the weekly grind of TV and that changed their approach to dealing with AAA temporarily.

“This is what I think, I think that once they got in there and they saw the grind of what weekly TV is and everything that it entails, they’ve got bigger things to do than right now bring in AAA wrestlers but I’m sure they’re going to bring in some people in the future and we’re going to keep bringing in people from AEW.”

Matt Hardy Teaser Featured In Being The Elite, His Response To WWE’s Statement

After months of speculation as to what Matt Hardy will do when his contract with WWE expires, he made his decision and now there’s a new AEW teaser.

Early Monday morning, the longtime pro wrestler announced via YouTube that he would indeed not re-sign with WWE. Instead, he would hit the free-agent market.

While there have been rumblings that he could return to WWE should a new deal get reached, there’s also been speculation that he could be headed to All Elite Wrestling.

    Matt Hardy Teaser

This is something that was teased during the latest episode of Being The Elite. Near the end of the episode, Matt Jackson got a call from a 910 area code. This is the code for North Carolina, which is where Hardy lives.

The person on the phone asked him to go somewhere and Matt agreed to do so before hanging up. Matt told his brother, Nick, it looks like they aren’t going home quite yet, they gotta make a quick stop.

WWE also issued a statement on Hardy’s departure from the company:

Matt Hardy’s contract with WWE has expired.

A trailblazer throughout his 19-year WWE career, Matt and his brother Jeff pioneered the first tag team Ladder and TLC Matches in WWE, stealing the show at WrestleMania on several occasions. Matt, who competed in his first WWE match in 1994, captured nine tag team titles with Jeff, in addition to two other reigns with MVP and Bray Wyatt.

He is also a former ECW, United States, European, Cruiserweight and Hardcore champion, and he won the Fifth Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34.

But Matt is perhaps most revered for the uncanny connection he has cultivated with the WWE Universe over the years, even as his character has transformed. From a gravity-defying daredevil willing to take any and all risks to becoming one of the most eccentric personas ever seen as “Woken” Matt Hardy, all incarnations had one thing in common — the adoration of WWE fans.

WWE thanks Matt Hardy for his contributions to sports-entertainment and the WWE Universe and wishes him the best in his future endeavors

Hardy took to his official Twitter account where he gave his response to their statement:

  • Colt Cabana Comments On Signing With All Elite Wrestling

Colt Cabana Comments On Signing With All Elite Wrestling

Colt Cabana has commented on signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Taking to Twitter, Cabana shared his thoughts following his AEW appearance this past weekend at Revolution.

“As @TonyKhan said last night, I’ve signed with @AEWrestling & @AEWonTNT. I’ve had different goals & ideas throughout my career in Wrestling. Right now, to be involved on a national TV show & product with my Friends and Equals… it’s all I can ask for! This will be fun! Thankssss”

    Colt Cabana Helps SCU

Colt Cabana ran out during Revolution’s pre-show. After his music hit, he came out to make the save as he aligned himself with SCU against the forces of the Dark Order. Despite their best efforts, however, the Dark Order was able to get the advantage.

That is until the arrival of Christopher Daniels, dressed in a black robe as he pretended to be the long-awaited Exalted One. Daniels then joined the fray, teaming with his SCU teammates and Cabana to fight off the Dark Order members.

Following the conclusion of the pay-per-view, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that Cabana had signed a deal with the promotion. Their agreement reportedly allows Cabana to wrestle for promotions outside of AEW, but only with Khan’s approval.

Colt Cabana has previously appeared on AEW, only not in a physical role. He provided guest commentator duties during an episode of AEW’s YouTube show, Dark, last December.

  • Cody Comments On His Neck Tattoo

Cody Comments On His Neck Tattoo

Cody Rhodes has made many bold decisions in recent years. Leaving WWE, starting a new company, announcing a stipulation that he can never challenge for the AEW World title again, and now he’s tattooed the Nightmare Family logo on his neck. He tends to go “All In” on things.

The former NWA and ROH World Champion took to social media to better explain his most recent decision.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B9NvpJWFd1Y/?igshid=1btf56j904wm6

“I’m humbled by the run I’ve been on and the love of the fans. Incredibly lucky man.”

Cody commented on his tattoo with the following statement in the post:

“It was very simple, I wear a lot of brands…I wanted to make sure mine was one of them. And I wasn’t hiding it. More details on tomorrow’s “Road To Denver”… – thank you @inkanddaggertattoo@craigbrocktattoo for taking the design and making it a reality!”

Brandi Rhodes commented on Cody’s new tattoo during the AEW Revolution post-event media scrum.

“I’m the one person that doesn’t like the neck tattoo, I don’t like it,” Brandi said. “I’ve said it, there it is.”

“I know a lot of wives like to be really hands-on,” Brandi continued. “My husband makes his own decisions. He’s allowed to make his own decisions. So, if I decided to do something crazy, he can just let me make my own decisions.”

Brian Pillman Jr. offered up perhaps the best reasoning as to why Cody got the tattoo where he did.

Tony Khan also commented on Cody’s new ink. Khan said the tattoo looks great if Cody just wants to be a “badass wrestler” but might make it difficult for him to get some acting roles.

Dustin Rhodes Moving To Tag Division With QT Marshall & Brandi

Dustin Rhodes lost to Jake Hager last night at AEW Revolution. Following the match, Rhodes spoke to the media backstage at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena. During the post-event media scrum, Rhodes announced that he is moving to the tag team division. He also announced QT Marshall as his new partner.

“I’m a little bit upset right now, not going to lie about,” Dustin said backstage.

“I think it may be time for me to reach out and take a partner, for a little while,” Rhodes continued. “QT Marshall has been there with the Nightmare Family for quite some time and I want to give him a chance.”

“You are going to be seeing a lot of us together. It’s going to help my body tremendously.”

Dustin then said they have a secret weapon and that weapon is Brandi Rhodes.

“Brandi will also be there as our manager and help us on our path,” Dustin continued.

“The Natural Nightmares maybe,” Dustin said regarding a possible team name.

Rhodes and Marshall teamed up recently on AEW Dark and defeated the team of Peter Avalon and Shawn Spears.
