Following their hellacious unsanctioned Lights Out match at All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear pay-per-view this past Saturday, Kenny Omega has not been medically cleared to wrestle.
Taking to Twitter, “The Best Bout Machine” shared the news. Omega wrote, “I lost and doctors won’t clear me for TV. The problem is that you left me alive and I’ll be back. I win. #AEWFullGear #AEW”
In the run-up to their bout, Moxley shared how he believed their bout would be the “money match” of the night.
“I’d say this is definitely the money match right now,” Moxley stated. “You can tell when there’s a spark between two guys in the ring and there’s this combustible energy, an electricity you can feel. Our lives intersecting at this exact moment, it’s hugely fortunate for all involved. It seems like fate.”
The matchup was a long-awaited confrontation between the two. They were originally set to wrestle back in August at All Out. Moxley, however, was forced to pull out of the match due to a case of MRSA in his elbow. This issue following during his time competing in New Japan’s G1 Climax tournament.
Moxley emerged victorious from their brutal clash that saw liberal use of barbed wire, mousetraps, tables, brooms and even an ice pick.
Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian won the AEW tag team title tournament and successfully defended the titles last night in a triple threat match. While SCU is a 3-man unit, Christopher Daniels is not considered a tag team champion and the champs will not be utilizing the “Freebird rule” which allows for any 2 wrestlers in a 3-person group to defend the belts.
SCU commented on the matter during the post-event media scrum from Full Gear.
“As long as the Freebirds don’t wrestle here, I don’t think so,” said Kazarian when the question of the Freebird rule was brought up.
“No, these guys earned the belts,” said Daniels in reference to Scorpio Sky and Kazarian. “Their names are on the belts, I’ll get my own belt when the time’s right.”
Christopher Daniels Coming For Pentagon
Christopher Daniels noted he’s feeling great and that he’s focussed on getting revenge on Pentagon for taking him out before the tag title tournament could begin. He said dressing up as Pentagon was just the first step and that he will show Pentagon how bad he can get.
“They call me the Fallen Angel for a reason,” Daniels said. “I used to be a pretty good guy but I’m not really anymore and I’ll show him how bad I can get.”
SCU also talks facing Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara on Wednesday, the Rock N Roll Express and more. The full interview can be viewed in the player below:
Cody hit the entrance ramp headfirst at Full Gear and the result was a gash above his eye. All Elite Wrestling issued a health update for the 34-year-old earlier today. According to AEW, Cody needed 8 stitches, has a costochondral separation and is not currently cleared for competition.
Cody lost to Chris Jericho last night at AEW Full Gear. MJF was cornering Cody and threw in the towel as Jericho had the challenger locked in the Lion Tamer. Following the match, MJF then delivered a low-blow to Cody. Neither Cody nor MJF have posted on social media following the event and neither took part in post-event media scrums.
AEW Injuries Following Full Gear
AEW President Tony Khan noted in his post-event media scrum that no other serious injuries were sustained last night including in the Lights Out match between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega.
“It was pretty gruesome,” Khan said. “I was very concerned for both guys because they are obviously two of the biggest stars not just two of the biggest stars in AEW but two of the biggest stars in wrestling.”
“We were concerned about it for sure but it was a great match and we’re really happy with it.”
Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega tore the house down as the final match at Saturday night’s AEW Full Gear pay-per-view. This installment of our Statistical Analysis feature takes a deep dive into this hardcore clash between two of AEW’s most violent competitors. Let’s take a look at the key factors that led Jon Moxley to victory.
Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega Unsanctioned “Lights Out” Match AEW Full Gear (November 9th, 2019)
One of two matches on the Full Gear card dating back to Double or Nothing, the build for this match has spanned seven months. AEW fans have anticipated this match from the moment Jon Moxley attacked Kenny Omega in the final minutes of Double or Nothing.
Cancelled at All Out due to Moxley’s Mercer infection only heightened fans desire to see these two clash in an AEW ring. After six weeks of spotlight on AEW Dynamite, the build to this match has simmered to boiling point. To say that it finally boiled over at Full Gear would not do it justice!
Omega vs Moxley: The Numbers
This match was a very violent and painful 38 minutes 45 seconds and contained 165 offensive manoeuvres. Thus meaning viewers witnessed, an often brutal, offensive action ever 14 seconds! Kenny Omega was the man who dealt out the majority this collective offence with 58% of it coming from him.
As previously mentioned, this was an extremely violent match. In fact, 64 of the 165 offensive actions would have been illegal in a traditional match, that’s 39%.
Omega was not out of his depth in this kind of contest with 40 of his 96 manoeuvres fitting the criteria of this category, 42% of his total offensive moves. In comparison, Moxley’s numbers were 24 of 69, 35%. Not many people would have expected Kenny Omega to be the more violent participant in this match up.
Statistically, Kenny Omega owned Jon Moxley in this match up. He out did him when we examine strikes, dives, reversals and use of usually illegal offence. There was a small advantage for Moxley through use of submission and they cancelled each other out when it came to the use of grapples. When we look at these numbers it is far from clear how Moxley won this match.
The Margins of Victory
Part of the story here is Moxley’s ability to absorb the kind of punishment he endured in this match from his years of experience in these types of encounter. This was illustrated by the pre-match video package. Kenny Omega does not have the same level of experience.
Another strand of this Moxley-victory is the simple fact he hit the Paradigm Shift, twice. The Paradigm Shift is easier to execute than Kenny Omega’s more deadly One Winged Angel which Moxley did escape from in this match. The same was often true in Omega’s encounters with Okada who often benefitted from the hit-rate of his finishing move as opposed to the effectiveness of Omega’s.
Both Moxley’s ability to absorb extreme levels of punishment and the swiftness of the Paradigm Shift are undoubtedly factors. However, ultimately, it could be suggested that Kenny Omega was almost drunk on violence and was more interested in proving himself Moxley’s equal in this type of match than only securing the win.
This is evidenced by the fact Omega dealt out 18% more of the match’s offence but went for the same amount of pin attempts as Moxley and spent less time on submissions. A more visual piece of evidence? He needed three members of the Elite to bring out a pre-meditated additional object of violence.
This installment of our Statistical Analysis examines the ‘sanctioned’ main event of AEW Full Gear, the highly anticipated AEW World Championship bout between Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes. (7 Takeaways From AEW Full Gear)
AEW World Champion Chris Jericho AEW Full Gear (November 9th, 2019)
The first AEW Pay-Per-View to have a weekly television build has been built around the main event rivalry of the ‘American Nightmare’ Cody and ‘Le Champion’ Chris Jericho. This rivalry has reached levels of animosity rarely seen, even in the competitive world of professional, in recent weeks seeing Cody even feel the need to put his eligibility for future World Championships opportunities on the line.
This match has dominated Dynamite on TNT over the last six weeks with fans enjoying some of the hottest confrontations and promos in the entire industry. The magnitude of this match was heightened by the big match feel added to by the addition of time limit draw separating judges. For this match they were revealed to be legendary wrestlers Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson and The Great Muta!
Cody vs. Jericho: By The Numbers
In a contest lasting almost half an hour, coming in at 29 minutes and 35 seconds, 141 offensive manoeuvres were hit with a further 37 being reversed and another 18 classified as fouls. This meant viewers saw an offensive move every 12.5 seconds. The majority of which came from Chris Jericho.
Jericho was the dominant force in this match, with 77 offensive actions to Cody’s 64 giving him 55% of the matches offence which does not take into account the 17 fouls, he and Hager managed to get away with.
The majority of Jericho’s offence came from strikes and submissions. He won the striking battle 56 to 49 with 6 knockdowns to Cody’s 4. He contained Cody in submission holds for 59 seconds longer than the reverse, 74 seconds in comparison to 15.
Cody was very much fighting from underneath for a significant amount of this match. This was illustrated by Jericho’s advantage in overall offence delivered. Cody dealt with this admirably and reversed more manoeuvres than Jericho, 20 compared to 17. Offensively he dealt more damage from grapples and dives however his exploits with the latter may have led to his eventual downfall.
The Margins of Victory
Commentary teams across the many arenas of professional wrestling draw attention to the risk taking nature of competitors who employ diving manoeuvres in their in-ring repertoire. Cody hit four of these attacks during the course of this match but it may be the one that he missed that cost him victory and any future chances at the AEW World Championship.
A mere eight minutes into the contest, Cody attempted a dive over the top rope but crashed face first into the elevated entrance ramp. This bloodied the challenger and supplied Jericho with a target for the remainder of the match. This mistake from Cody allowed Jericho to dominate the match to such an extent that ultimately it led to his downfall.
When a match is decided but the duplicitous actions of an outside party, it is hard to point to a competitive factor as being the margin in the competing performances that led to the victory. MJF threw in the towel at a moment during which it would be believable for an ally of Cody’s to do so.
For MJF to believably throw in the towel, Cody had to be losing and in this match it was not a guarantee that he would end up with a loss but at this stage in the contest he certainly was losing. Jericho was able to beatdown Cody to a stage where he was able to apply his submission finisher not once but twice.
All this can be traced back to that early missed dive at eight minutes and two seconds.
Tony Khan spoke with the media following last night’s AEW Full Gear PPV in Baltimore. Khan confirmed that no serious injuries took place during the event, even during the “Lights Out” match between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley.
“Tonight’s PPV, I’m just really happy for the guys,” Khan said backstage. “Everybody’s fine, (there were not) any serious injuries, thankfully. I’m really happy for them.”
Later in the interview, Khan addressed Moxley vs Omega specifically.
Tony Khan Media Scrum Notes
Khan also stated that nothing about MJF throwing the towel in on Cody changes the stipulation that Cody can no longer challenge for the AEW World Championship.
Signature PPVs “Double or Nothing” and “All Out” will continue to be held in Las Vegas and Chicago respectively.
Khan is happy with the ratings but even more pleased with the quality of the AEW Dynamite shows.
They’ve never changed anything on their shows based on what NXT is doing and do not have a monitor backstage keeping track of what is on the other show.
Trent is someone Khan believes in and the Best Friends have done well in the ratings.
The ratings in Canada are strong and they hope to run a show there next year. Same with London, England but he doesn’t have exact dates.
Bringing in the Rock N Roll Express was the Young Bucks idea but Khan was all for it.
Lots of people loved Chris Jericho’s video on Dynamite this week but Khan was surprised that many didn’t notice it was a shot-for-shot remake of Cody’s video from a previous show.
“We’ve shifted wrestling, Wednesday night is the night to watch wrestling now,” Khan also said during the scrum. “Think of what we’ve done in a year. We’ve done a few of the best PPVs I’ve ever seen and what we’ve done for TV has shifted the landscape completely.”
Tony Khan Fantasy Booking In Baltimore Arena
Khan was also asked about throwing an event in the famous Baltimore Arena (now known as the Royal Farms Arena). The AEW President admitted he’s fantasy-booked plenty of events in the arena before so it was nice to do it for real with Full Gear.
“It’s really cool because I followed events my whole life in this building, it’s a great building with a lot of history in wrestling and I’ve frankly – it’s no secret I’ve played around writing wrestling shows my whole life and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t written a lot of shows here. It’s my first Full Gear here, I’ve done a lot of Dynamites here.”
Tony Khan’s full media scrum can be viewed in the player below:
Shortly after the conclusion of AEW Full Gear last night in Baltimore, both Chris Jericho and AEW President Tony Khan told media there would be a tag-team title match this Wednesday on Dynamite. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara will take on SCU for the belts.
Tony Khan confirmed the match last night during the Full Gear post-event media scrum.
“This week on Dynamite, it will be Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara versus Scorpio Sky and Kazarian for the tag team titles and we’ll see if the Inner Circle can take all the championships in AEW and it was big for Chris, it was a big night, it was his birthday. For him to lay down the challenge, I think SCU wants the match and that’s a huge match for Dynamite,” Tony Khan said.
Also during his post-event media scrum, Jericho took issue with the AEW tag team rankings, noting he and Sammy Guevara are undefeated when teaming together.
“I think that the rankings for the tag team division is a bunch of s**t because Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho are undefeated as a tag team and we’re not even in the top-5,” Jericho said.
Khan would also confirm that another match between Hangman Page and PAC will take place on this week’s Dynamite.
“Hangman Page came in and he wants a rubber match with PAC and the last time they were in the scrum it went very differently,” Khan said regarding the match. “Even though he won tonight and a lot of people thought he’d feel like he settled it, he feels like there’s unsettled business so that’s definitely going to be another huge match on Dynamite.”

AEW Tag Team Championships: SCU (c) vs Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara (Inner Circle)
Last night at AEW Full Gear in Baltimore, Chris Jericho successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Cody. The match ended when Cody’s cornerman, MJF, threw in the towel while the champ had the challenger locked in a Lion Tamer. Jericho spoke to the media following his victory.
“He was going to give up anyway, that’s a pretty stupid question, of course, I’m satisfied,” Jericho said when asked if he was satisfied with the victory. “I’m still le Champion. I don’t want this to be stuck on the fact that MJF threw a towel in the ring because if you saw what happened, Cody was beat up, bleeding all over the f***ing place, plus he was so tied up like a pretzel, there was no escape. So throw the towel in, don’t throw the towel in but don’t diminish the victory that Chris Jericho had over Cody Rhodes tonight.”
When asked if MJF could possibly join Jericho’s Inner Circle Faction, here is what Le Champion had to say:
“There’s always room for more as long as they’re as good as all the guys in my Inner Circle. MJF would be a probable candidate, a possible candidate whether the events happened tonight or not. We’re always looking for good members because like I said we’re taking control of AEW.”
Jericho also talked about the type of bubbly he would go with for his victory celebration, what he said to Dean Malenko, and the inspiration he received from the Living Legend Soultrain Jones while in the Olive Garden. The full media scrum can be viewed in the player below:

Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho once again in the middle of the ring and MJF grabbed a towel and threw it into the ring to end the match. After the match, MJF broke down in tears as Cody got to his feet. MJF then hit Cody with a low blow and smirked as the crowd booed. A fan launched garbage at MJF as he was on top of the entrance ramp.
I thought that this match was awesome. The pace and storytelling was near perfect and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I figured that MJF was going to turn on Cody but I was expecting him to attack Cody ending the match in a DQ. That way Cody would win the match but not the title and could get a future title match down the line. As of now, Cody can no longer challenge for the AEW Championship because of what he said on Dynamite.
Jon Moxley Defeated Kenny Omega In An Insane Match

Omega bashed Jon in the head several times with the trash lid to break up a choke hold. Jon then brought in an ice pick and Omega hit him with the chain. Moxley tried to stab Kenny with the ice pick but Omega got out of the way and the ice pick went into the trunbuckle pad.
Moxley hit a Back Drop that sent Kenny crashing onto the chain. Omega battled back with a Snap Dragon Suplex and followed it up with another one. Jon bit Kenny’s face but Omega broke free and hit a third Snap Dragon Suplex. Omega wrapped the chain around Jon’s throat and choked him over the ropes.
Omega then flipped onto Moxley and they crashed through the table set up against the barricade. The fans chanted “both these guys!” as Omega grabbed a bag of broken glass from the table Moxley hit him with the Paradigm Shift through. Kenny cut Jon in between the fingers and then stomped on the bag of glasas. Omega then hit him with a Spinebuster on top of the glass for a two count.
Kenny locked in a Sharpshooter and Jon crawled through the broken glass to reach the ropes to get himself out of the hold. Kenny put glass in Moxley’s mouth but Jon hit him with a German Suplex on the glass. Kenny hit Moxley with the V-Trigger and glass went flying out of Jon’s mouth.
Moxley crawled up the entrance ramp and Omega grabbed the ice pick or screwdriver out of the turnbuckle pad. Kenny cut Moxley’s head with the pick as the crowd chanted “you sick f*ck!”. The Young Bucks, Hangman Adam Page tried to reason with Omega to stop but Kenny talked them into going to get something.
They then brought a gigantic structure that was absolutely covered with barbed wire and set it up next to the ramp. I’m the kind of person that loves matches like this but I can understand if this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. This was absolutely insane and it capped off a hell of PPV. There were some down moments throughout the show but overall AEW Full Gear was great.
This was a long-awaited showdown that was delayed from taking place back in August. The reason for that is due to Moxley having to pull out their scheduled match at the All Out event at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL that aired on pay-per-view.
Moxley had a serious case of MRSA in his elbow that was picked up during his time in the NJPW G1 Climax.
On the October 30th episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT, All Elite Wrestling announced the stipulation for the contest due to the storyline bad blood between the two stars.
Cameras followed Moxley into the office of AEW President Tony Khan’s office where it was revealed that this scheduled match had to be an unsanctioned lights out match as AEW can no longer sanction the match.

Cody Rhodes wasn’t the wrestler to dethrone Chris Jericho as AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
Jericho successfully retained the title over Rhodes in the headliner of the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. The three judges for the contest were Great Muta, Arn Anderson, and Dean Malenko.
The stipulation coming into this match was the fact that if Cody didn’t beat Jericho then he will never allow himself to challenge for the AEW World Title again. MJF threw in the towel while Jericho had Cody in the Walls of Jericho, which resulted in the finish.
Post-match, MJF kicked him in the nuts and stood over Cody.
This contest was set up due to Rhodes having the best singles record in the promotion at the time as All Elite Wrestling protected his character on-screen to elevate him as the top babyface title challenger.
Jericho became the inaugural AEW World Heavyweight Champion when he beat Hangman Page in the headliner of the All Out pay-per-view event back in August at the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago.
At this same show, while on the undercard, Cody defeated Shawn Spears to improve his singles match record.

This match was originally slated for the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25, 2019. However, plans changed.
There was an angle done at a WrestleGate show in Nottingham, England involving PAC and Page earlier this year to present the match that had been built up because the match didn’t take place at Double or Nothing.
Page agreed to fly to England and do the match to make up for the hyped match. It was released on YouTube. At the time, it was reported that it was nixed due to creative differences and PAC was pulled from the card.
At Double or Nothing, Page drew the Joker card in the Casino Battle Royale allowing him to enter at lucky number 21 where he would win the contest and become a competitor to wrestle for the chance to become the first-ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion. He lost to Chris Jericho at All Out.

The Young Bucks didn’t get their revenge on the Inner Circle members Santana & Ortiz.
At the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, Santana & Ortiz beat Nick & Matt Jackson in a tag team match. This served as the opening contest on the main card.
This feud kicked off at the All Out event from the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL that aired on pay-per-view in August. It happened after the Lucha Brothers beat Young Bucks to retain the AAA Tag Team Titles.
Post-match, two masked men attacked Lucha Bros then Nick Jackson. The former team known as LAX was revealed as the masked men.
The Young Bucks lost to Private Party in the opening round of the AEW Tag Team Title tournament. Santana and Ortiz didn’t compete in the tournament.
Time will tell whether AEW continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the future.
The fallout from this match will be presented on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite on TNT from Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
What are your thoughts on the winners of this match? Was this the right call by AEW officials or should it have gone the other way? Sound off in the comment section.

Ahead of the show, check out our expert staff predictions:
AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes took part in a media call on Friday afternoon to hype Saturday night’s AEW Full Gear pay-per-view from Baltimore, Maryland. Cody will challenge Chris Jericho for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship in one of the most anticipated bouts in AEW history.
Cody said he was just being himself this week when he delivered what many are calling the best promo of his career. He’s not hiding who he is, he’s not hiding the fact that he’s one of the key power players behind the scenes in AEW. “Wrestling is best when it’s real, so I don’t know if you can even call it a promo. It was just a real statement from me, and I’m glad it resonated with fans. I really am.”
Following up on his announcement that he’ll never challenge for the AEW Championship if he does not defeat Chris Jericho, Cody said the stipulation is authentic.
AEW’s production style:
AEW’s lead producer Keith Mitchell helps them deliver an “an element of danger, spontaneity, and grit.” He spoke about the importance of building a “family” relationship between the producers and the talent and named Darby Allin as someone who is very hands on with his presentation.
The possibility of an AEW mid-card championship:
Cody said he does not like the term “mid-card” but acknowledged they are considering a different route for recognizing rising stars. “I think it’s very possible within the next month or so, there will be a prize of some sort for the guys rising through the ranks,” he said. Cody stressed the importance of protecting AEW’s existing championships, which were only established recently.
“It’s not willy-nilly, handing these belts out, handing these prizes out,” he said. “They matter, and the next one will matter just as much.”
AEW Top 5 Rankings
AEW will begin announcing Top 5 Rankings for each division (Men, Women and Tag Teams) starting this Friday afternoon. The plan is to update the rankings every week.
Improving AEW Dynamite
A lot of work goes into each week’s episode of AEW Dynamite and they are constantly striving to improve the product. After each show Cody sends out a company-wide email detailing areas they need to work on. He enjoys getting constructive criticism from fans on social media.
Audio Issues on AEW TV
Cody acknowledged they are still working on getting the audio balancing where it needs to be. Some viewers have complained that entrance themes are too low, but they don’t want to pipe theme music into the television feed like WWE does, because he thinks it will drown out the crowd noise.
“There’s a lot of fire in that audience, and we want to hear them,” he said. “At the cost sometimes of not hearing the music, we would rather hear the fans as loud as they are, because they’ve been so generous and we’re so grateful for them.”
AEW’s Women’s Division
AEW plans to feature women more prominently in the months ahead. This includes not just in-ring action, but also interviews and vignettes. Fans can expect this initiative to be rolled out starting next week. They’ve wanted to feature even more international talent than they already have, but have dealt with some work visa issues so far.
Dynamite’s Television Ratings
Cody said many wrestling journalists are ‘stuck in the past’ as it relates to gauging AEW’s popularity. It’s not just about TV ratings anymore. “We’re not only looking at our Nielsens, we’re looking at our social Nielsens, we’re looking at our ITV representation, we’re looking at our FITE usage, we’re looking at an amazing amount of data.”
They are satisfied with AEW’s success so far, but sees a lot more room for improvement as fans learn about the product. “Six weeks in a row, we’ve gone head-to-head with WWE, the biggest wrestling company in the world, and six weeks in a row, they’ve been on the losing end.” Cody believes this solidifies that AEW is in fact a revolution.
The Panel of Judges for Full Gear’s Main Event
Cody commented on the 3-judge panel that will be ringside for his match against Chris Jericho at Full Gear. He assured everyone the judges will be of “championship caliber” and fans will be excited when they see who will show up. He’s not sure if they will continue the judge panel concept for future championship matches, but it’s something they’re trying out.
Future AEW Special Events
In addition to AEW’s “big four” pay-per-views (All Out, Double or Nothing, Full Gear and another show likely in February), they are interested in doing other smaller ‘special events’ like we saw this year with Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Jon Moxley was recently interviewed by Yahoo! Sports to talk about several topics.
Moxley is slated to take on Kenny Omega at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event. This comes after their original match at the All Out event in August was nixed due to Moxley dealing with a staph infection in his elbow.
According to Moxley, he thinks this is the money match of the card.
“I’d say this is definitely the money match right now. You can tell when there’s a spark between two guys in the ring and there’s this combustible energy, an electricity you can feel. Our lives intersecting at this exact moment, it’s hugely fortunate for all involved. It seems like fate.”
Omega cut a promo in storyline about Moxley pulling out of their original match. Moxley was replaced by PAC at the show, who went over Omega.
For Moxley, he thinks it was a great creative thing for the promotion and something that they used heading into Full Gear. He sees it as a scenario where a curveball was thrown at them and that allowed them to make it a real situation that can go in any direction.
Moxley continued, “You don’t have to worry about going through red tape, using big words, reading a paragraph or something like that. If you have something to say in AEW, you just say it. Now we’ve got this legitimate thing that happened and it’s become part of the story now. It’s pretty cool. You can’t write it.
We could have sat in a room and thought, man how do we make this match even bigger. We could have never figured out a way that was as good as almost killing me with a staph infection and taking the match away.”
AEW holds the Full Gear pay-per-view event this Saturday at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
All Elite Wrestling returns to the pay-per-view arena this weekend with their AEW Full Gear show from Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
The top matches heading into this Saturday’s AEW show are Chris Jericho vs. Cody for the AEW World’s Heavyweight Championship and an unsanctioned “Lights Out” match between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley.

SEScoops.com Round Table Writers For AEW Full Gear
As is the case before every major pay-per-view event, SEScoops.com compiles a handful of pro wrestling journalists to provide their in-depth insight and analysis into each match scheduled on the card in our SEScoops.com Predictions Roundtable feature.
Joining us for this AEW Full Gear installment will be veteran staff writers Ian Carey, Andrew Ravens and Jeff Moss.
Without further adieu, let’s take a look at our official AEW Full Gear Predictions.
Buy-In Pre-Show: Britt Baker vs. Bea Priestley
Ian Carey: I’m a little torn on this one. Baker just lost to Riho and they will likely want to rehab her from that but on the other hand, Bea Priestley seems like the biggest star they have in the division. They have to push her to a shot at Riho, right? It’s also weird this is on the preshow considering the role Baker seems to have and the rivalry that’s been brewing. I’m picking Bea but I’m not super confident about it. (Prediction: Bea Priestley)
Andrew Ravens: I think this is a pretty easy pick from all of the matches on the card. Baker should and will win. She is being groomed as a top star under the AEW banner in the women’s division. Outside of Riho, she is their biggest women’s talent that they have. I like this matchup, which will be a fun match. (Prediction: Britt Baker)
Jeff Moss: What’s interesting about this match is that Britt Baker, sorry, DOCTOR Britt Baker is a dentist, and AEW managed to go almost a whole show without mentioning it! Seriously though, Baker has a bit of payback to exact over the concussion she suffered courtesy of Priestly at Fight For The Fallen, so there’s a grudge to be settled here. With that said, I’d take Baker — who is totally a dentist — in this one, for the best reason of all: Revenge. (Prediction: Britt Baker)
CONSENSUS: 2-1, Britt Baker
Shawn Spears vs Joey Janela
Ian: Both of these two need wins. Actually, I’m not certain Janela actually needs to win his matches to be popular but all the same. Spears has one singles win against Michael Nakazawa but it seemed like they would push him harder than they have after he aligned with Tully Blanchard. Perhaps, Full Gear will be the start of a winning streak for Spears. I wouldn’t be that surprised to see Janela pull off an upset though. (Prediction: Shawn Spears)
Andrew: A late addition to the card and this is just a random thrown together match that I’m not sure why was added than other to fill time. They have no program but will be wrestling with each other. Following his match with Cody Rhodes at All Out, Spears has fallen off a cliff on television and seems to have no direction. I think a cheap win can get him back on track. (Prediction: Shawn Spears)
Jeff: Another match that has the potential to get bloody, fast. I can’t stress how much I’m enjoying Asshole Tye Dillinger. Just being associated with Tully Blanchard makes him even more snake-like in my book. That said, Joey Janela is hardcore. I’d rather see Spears go over here, mainly so he doesn’t find himself back in an enhancement talent role, so we’ll see how things shake out. (Prediction: Shawn Spears)
CONSENSUS: 3-0, Shawn Spears
SCU vs. The Lucha Bros vs. Private Party
Ian: After Private Party won the bronze medal match against Dark Order this week, they were added to this match here. Triple threats are great for having a team win without them having to actually beat another team. For that reason, expect SCU to get the pin over Private Party and not the Lucha Bros, that way Pentagon and Fenix stay in the tag title picture. I’m predicting a successful title defense for SCU, followed by a post-match beatdown by the Lucha Bros, followed by a run-in save by Christopher Daniels. (Prediction: SoCal Uncensored)
Andrew: Since SCU just won the titles, I don’t see why a title change would take place here. They have a built-in story with SCU vs. The Lucha Brothers but since they made it a three-way, I think they didn’t want Lucha to eat the loss but wanted to continue this story. Thus, they put Private Party in the contest for them to take the fall. With that said, SCU should and will retain the straps here. (Prediction: SoCal Uncensored)
Jeff: SCU just won the titles on Dynamite, so I can’t see them dropping them so quickly here. I expect them to win, but the Lucha Brothers will do something spectacularly dangerous, if for no other reason than to upstage the Bucks in their match. Adding Private Party to the mix here adds an element of the unknown, but regardless, the titles stay put. (Prediction: SoCal Uncensored)
CONSENSUS: 3-0, SCU
Riho vs. Emi Sakura (AEW Women’s Title)
Ian: As much as we’d all love a Freddie Mercury cosplayer as champion, it feels as though the belt will stay on Riho here. Riho garners such sympathy whenever she takes a move that I have to imagine she’ll eventually drop the title to one of the divisions larger women, such as Awesome Kong or Nyla Rose or possibly to Bea Priestley. I just can’t see her dropping it here. (Prediction: Riho)
Andrew: Riho wins. This is a no brainer as Riho is a big fan favorite especially with women and young girls. The ratings back that up. Sakura is a talented star but is still unknown to most fans who watch the AEW product. It will be interesting to see if fans in attendance believe any of Sakura’s offense against Riho. (Prediction: Riho)
Jeff: I honestly didn’t know much about Riho when she first won the Women’s title, but I’ve grown quite fond of her. As we watch Brandi Rhodes slowly descend into madness, I like the idea of Riho establishing herself as a champion. This will be a really fast, cool NJPW match between two rising stars in North America, but in the end Riho retains. (Prediction: Riho)
CONSENSUS: 3-0, Riho
Hangman Page vs. PAC
Ian: So between the match they had in England and the match they had on Dynamite, these two are 1-1 against each other. The thing with Page is, he’s not going back to the world title picture anytime soon, at least I don’t think. It feels like Page chasing the title is a long-term plan, whereas they want PAC in the title picture soon. For that reason, I think PAC gets the win and moves closer to a title shot. (Prediction: PAC)
Andrew: So between the match they had in England and the match they had on Dynamite, these two are 1-1 against each other.
Jeff: Honestly? I’d watch PAC fight a potted plant and call it match of the year. The dude is practically unrecognizable from his NXT Champion days, and twice as entertaining. British Strong Style? More like BASTARD PAC STYLE. He’s the next contender for the AEW title in my mind, so I’d expect him to win decisively and brutally here. (Prediction: PAC)
CONSENSUS: 3-0, PAC
The Young Bucks vs. Santana & Ortiz (AEW Tag Titles)
Ian: After dropping the semi-final of the tag tournament to Private Party, it feels like the Young Bucks could use a big win here. A loss for Santana and Ortiz this early after debuting isn’t great but losing to the Young Bucks never hurts anyone too hard. I’m fairly certain both of these teams will be in the title chase not long after this PPV. (Prediction: The Young Bucks)
Andrew: This is one of the hardest matches to pick as Santana and Ortiz should win and will likely do so but The Young Bucks lost at All Out and then in the Tag Team Title Tournament so they need a big win. I will take Santana and Ortiz only because they are part of the Inner Circle as Jake Hager could cause a distraction for the win. (Prediction: Santana & Ortiz)
Jeff: This should be a really fun match, with lots of hard hits, high flies, and of course tassels. The Bucks know how to put on a show, and Santana & Ortiz were one of the highlights of TNA (I’m told). This is a great match to forward the Elite Vs Inner Circle feud that’s taking over AEW storylines, so while the stakes aren’t that high on paper, overall it should have some impact. I have to take the Bucks in this one. (Prediction: The Young Bucks)
CONSENSUS: 2-1, The Young Bucks
Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega (Unsanctioned “Lights Out” Match)
Ian: This is a tough one to pick because it seems like AEW will want to push both of these guys into the world title scene sometime soon. Omega has lost to PAC and Jericho already and probably can’t afford another loss. Moxley hasn’t lost yet but did go to a time-limit draw with PAC. I think it makes sense for Omega to get the win and then we get a triple threat with these two and PAC with the winner earning a title shot. Otherwise, Omega is really going to have a hard time making up for some of these early losses. (Prediction: Kenny Omega)
Andrew: This is going to be a fun match but a more interesting finish to it as both guys need to win. Yes, Moxley has been more protected than Omega up to this point and could eat a pinfall but I see Moxley heading to the world title picture quicker than Omega. I think Omega will lose here but I don’t agree with it. Prior to the launch of AEW, Omega was booked as a bigger deal and to the hardcore fans, he still is but in the eyes of the casual fans, he’s a top mid-card guy, which isn’t good. Moxley goes over. (Prediction: Jon Moxley)
Jeff: It’s been months in the making and this match is the leading candidate for match of the night for me. This should include some crazy spots, hardcore action and I’d expect a whole bunch of blood. If I had my way this match would be the official “Return of the Cleaner” and let Kenny Omega go full Omega on the guy who would take it the best (non-PAC division) Jon Moxley. I wonder if they will put this match on last, or save it for the title bout? At any rate, Kenny Omega will (and needs) the win here. (Prediction: Kenny Omega)
CONSENSUS: 2-1, Kenny Omega
Chris Jericho vs. Cody (AEW World Title)
Ian: Well, up until Dynamite this week I would have said that Jericho is winning this match but now that’s all up in the air. Cody’s announcement that if he doesn’t beat Jericho then he’ll never challenge for the title again changes things. It’s possible Cody could lose and just decide he doesn’t want to ever book himself to win the title or he could win and become the 2nd ever champion. I’m betting he wins the title but then loses it back to Jericho fairly quickly after, similar to what his Dad used to do with Ric Flair. (Prediction: Cody)
Andrew: This is the rightful main event and the right #1 contender to the AEW World Title. While Rhodes is an executive in the company, he was the right star to be chosen for this spot at the moment. His win record backs that up and since AEW puts a focus on it, this was the right call. This has been a great build-up as both guys are great talkers and while it might not be the best match on the card, it will live up to expectations. There’s no reason to take the title off of Jericho right now as he’s the biggest star that AEW has right now. I don’t like the stipulation that Rhodes added as that means there will have to be a screw job finish to this contest. (Prediction: Chris Jericho)
Jeff: If the fact that Chris Jericho is universally beloved “Shampiown” right now, and Cody is the EVP of the company weren’t enough to telegraph the result of this match, adding a “I’ll never challenge for it again” stipulation certainly seals the deal. Who wins then? Well, I’d expect Cody to win, but Jericho to keep the title in what will assuredly be a DQ, run-in and outside interference filled match. (Prediction: Cody via DQ)
CONSENSUS: 2-1, Cody

All Elite Wrestling World Champion Chris Jericho has stated that the promotion is no longer hiring new talent at this point in time. “Le Champion” divulged the information during an interview with ScreenGeek.
“We’re not looking to hire anybody else right now,” Jericho shared. “If someone comes along that makes sense, we will, but we have so much talent that people don’t even know, they don’t even know the Young Bucks yet! That’s what I’m saying, you have to understand, this is our first show, you can’t assume that everyone knows who these guys are.”
He continued, “I haven’t been on TV for two years. What’s the first line I ever said on AEW TV? ‘My name is Chris Jericho, and I am the champion of AEW’. That pretty much tells the tale. ‘Oh, who is that guy? Oh, he’s the champion?’ Boom. Done. It’s like a good movie poster that tells you what it is.”
Rather than inflate their roster with every available free agent, Jericho believes it’s more important to establish those who already a part of the promotion.
“[…] it’s really important to establish who these guys are, so that when people see them they’ll freak out as to why they’ve never heard of them before and just how good they are because they’ve been doing this for years and chose NOT to go to WWE. The secret to AEW is that we all have passion to be here because we want to be.”
Jericho defends his AEW World Championship against Cody Rhodes at AEW’s next pay-per-view Full Gear on November 9th.
The sixth week of the WWE NXT vs. AEW Dynamite war is in the books.
Viewership data has been released for the November 6th editions of AEW Dynamite on TNT and NXT on the USA Network.
Here is the breakdown of the live and same-night DVR viewership, courtesy of Showbuzz Daily:
WWE NXT
WWE NXT averaged 813,000 viewers, which is up from the 580,000 viewers that the show drew last week on the USA Network. In the 18-49 demos, the show drew 0.30, up from 0.18 from last week.
Matches that took place on the NXT show included Pete Dunne vs. Damian Priest, Shayna Baszler vs. Dakota Kai, Angel Garza vs. Tony Nese in a WWE NXT Cruiserweight Title #1 Contendership Match, and Keith Lee, Matt Riddle & Tommaso Ciampa vs. The OC in the headliner.
AEW Dynamite
AEW Dynamite that aired during the same time slot on TNT pulled in 822,000, which is up from last week’s episode that did 759,000. The key number is the 18-49 demos that saw AEW draw 0.35, up from the 0.33 last week.
Top matches on AEW included PAC vs. Trent, Private Party vs. The Dark Order, and Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Adam Page & Kenny Omega in the headliner.
Last week, both shows were down as expected as they went up against game seven of the MLB World Series Game on FOX that drew 23.013 million on FOX.
This marks the closest margin of viewership between the two shows to date. NXT and AEW went up an NBA game on ESPN that drew 1.491 million viewers.
WWE and AEW will attempt to increase viewership with next week’s episodes, which should be interesting to see what number it pulls in. AEW will have its post-show of Dynamite for the Full Gear pay-per-view event.
For fans who want different sets for both AEW television and pay-per-view events, Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks has some good news.
A fan asked Nick on Twitter if AEW will have individualized sets for their PPVs, which is where he confirmed the news that a new set will be used starting at Full Gear.
AEW has been using the same stage set for both Dynamite, which is their weekly television show that airs on TNT every Wednesday night, as well as PPV events. The current set has a titantron in the center with two separate rampways on each side for heels and babyfaces.
Nick will team up with his brother Matt to take on Santana & Ortiz of The Inner Circle in a tag team match at Full Gear.
Speaking of Full Gear, AEW announced a new match for the show in the AEW CountDown special that was released on YouTube. This match will see Joey Janela vs. Shawn Spears.
