Brandi Rhodes On Win Over Allie: “I Won, That Means I’m Good”

Brandi Rhodes didn’t have much to say regarding her victory over Allie from Fight for the Fallen. The match was Rhodes’ in-ring debut for the promotion as she improves her record to 1W-0L. As for her opponent Allie, she now drops to 1W-1L after having defeated Leva Bates on the Fyter Fest pre-show.

“I mean, I won, what else are you looking for?” Brandi said after the match. “I won, I pinned her in the middle of the ring, the count of 3 happened. That means I’m good now.”

“A lot of people like to think oh you know Brandi because I saw one match of hers a hundred thousand years ago, she sucks. Well, I won, so there’s that,” she continued.

Rhodes’ full post-match media scrum can be watched in its entirety below:

    Brandi Rhodes and Awesome Kong

“I hate to be a broken record but I won,” Brandi continued.

Rhodes was asked about utilizing the services of Awesome Kong during the bout. Kong provided multiple distractions on the outside, eventually allowing Rhodes to hit Allie with a spear for the win.

“I think it’s all fair game,” Brandi said. “There are no rules that say you can’t have a friend at ringside. The rules say the friend can’t interfere.”

In terms of Awesome Kong’s future with AEW, all Brandi would say is that Kong is there when she needs her to be there.

“Allie could have brought a friend, nobody stopped Aja (Kong) from coming in.”

  • Cody On Working With His Brother In AEW: “It’s Real To Us”

Cody On Working With His Brother In AEW: “It’s Real To Us”

Last night at AEW Fight for the Fallen, Cody and his older brother Dustin fell to the team of Matt & Nick Jackson, the Young Bucks. The win was the 3rd straight for the Young Bucks but the Rhodes brothers have not been as successful in the new promotion. Cody’s record is now 1-1-1 after having defeated his brother, went to a time-limit draw with Darby Allin, and now lost to the Young Bucks. Dustin has lost to his brother and now lost to the Young Bucks, dropping to an 0-2 record.

Following the event, Cody spoke to the media about

“Heavy, it’s a heavy feeling,” Cody responded when asked how he’s feeling after his match with the Bucks. “There’s no words.”

Cody would continue to talk about what it means to have his brother with him in AEW.

“These moments that are in this entertainment world that we live in, they are real to us,” Cody said. “I know that sounds crazy, it’s all real, but those moments are even more particularly just potent. To be able to share the ring with him, I mean he’s just so good, so good. I want to keep doing these reunions because they never get old to me.”

    Cody vs Shawn Spears

Earlier in the show, Shawn Spears did what Cody was not able to do at Fyter Fest: pin Darby Allin. Spears pinned Allin in a 6-man tag match after delivering a Death Valley Driver. At Fyter Fest, Spears’ chairshot to Cody required 10 staples too close. The Bucks would show no mercy to Cody during the main event, however, super-kicking their Elite teammate in the back of the head at one point.

Spears has offered up the following reasons as to why he targeting Cody at the last show:

Tony Khan Talks South Park Inspiring Fight For The Fallen Look

Tony Khan took part in a post-Fight for the Fallen media scrum last night. He spoke about what AEW on TNT will look like, signing new talent, and how South Park inspired the look of Fight for the Fallen.

Khan was asked about the unique look the stage had at Daily’s Place for the show last night. He then mentioned the look had been inspired by an episode of South Park.

“Who has seen the wrestling episode of South Park?” Khan asked the media in attendance.

Tony Khan On AEW Using Open-Air Amphitheatres In The Future

“My thought is with an amphitheater the challenge is where do you put the ring and how do you present to the crowd and to me what’s great about it is you put the ring in the pit you open up so many possibilities for what you can do with the staging.”

Khan mentioned that the type of open-air amphitheatre venue could be used in the future.

“It opens up a lot of venues but obviously this is like our home venue.”

Chris Jericho Talks Delivering His First Unscripted Promo In 20 Years

Chris Jericho attacked Adam “Hangman” Page last night at AEW Fight for the Fallen in Jacksonville. Later in the evening, he came out with a live microphone and talked about how AEW wouldn’t exist without him. He also mentioned during the promo that if he were to lose to Page at All Out, it might be the beginning of the end of Jericho’s career.

Following the show, Jericho said his promo was unscripted.

“Tonight – I said this to Dean Malenko – is the first time in 20 years that I’ve ever done a promo with no script, no approval of what I’m going to say and really no idea of what I’m going to say,” Jericho said. “Just knowing I have a point and some directions that I may or may not want to go. When Hangman got busted open, that changed the entire design of the promo. It was very liberating.”

“If you want creative freedom, we can give you that in AEW,” Jericho continued.

Chris Jericho Says He Has To Beat Hangman Page

Last night at Fight for the Fallen, Jericho delivered a promo first saying he wanted his thank you for creating AEW. He didn’t want a thank you from the many in attendance who attempted to give one to him, however.

“A thank you doesn’t mean anything,” Jericho said on the show. “Because what I’m going to do from now is get my thank you one at a time by beating the crap out of every single person here in All Elite Wrestling starting with the Hangman.”

  • 8 Takeaways From AEW Fight For The Fallen

8 Takeaways From AEW Fight For The Fallen

AEW’s Fight for the Fallen aired live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida on July 13th.

    Pre-Show Results:

    • Sonny Kiss def. Peter Avalon
    • Shoko Nakajima & Bea Priestley def. Britt Baker & Riho

Here are 8 takeaways from the show:

Shawn Spears, MJF & Sammy Guevara Picked Up The Win

MJF, Shawn Spears, and Sammy Guevara battled Darby Allin, Jimmy Havok, and Joey Janela in a 6-man tag team match. Janela started things off with a Hip Toss and a Dropkick to MJF. Shawn Spears mockingly clapped in MJF’s face as Jimmy Havok tagged in.

Havok bit MJF’s finger and then stomped on it. The crowd chanted “f*ck him up Jimmy!” as Havok bent MJF’s finger back. Havok gave MJF the middle finger and rolled him up for a two count. Guevara and Janela tagged in and Sammy connected with an Enziguri.

Guevara went for a Crossbody but Janela got out of the way and planted Sammy with a German Suplex into the bottom turnbuckle. Havok tagged in and Sammy hit him with a knee to the face. Havok hit Spears in the face and turned around into another knee to the face from Guevara.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150201151511552000

Shawn Spears tagged in to a chorus of boos and Darby Allin pleaded from a tag. Darby got a tremendous reaction from the crowd as he got into the ring. Spears looked at Allin for a moment but decided to tag Guevara back in and rolled out of the ring.

Darby hit Sammy with an Arm Drag and sent him to the corner. Janela tagged in and bounced Guevara’s face off the turnbuckle. Janela went for a Splash and slammed into the turnbuckle. Janela battled back with a Hurricanrana but Guevara shrugged it off and hit a Dropkick.

MJF tagged back in and was greeted with boos from the crowd. MJF leveled Janela with a forearm that sent Joey tumbling to the floor outside the ring. Spears tagged himself in and stomped the hell out of Janela in the corner. Spears hit a Back Body Drop and tagged Sammy back in.

MJF tagged himself in and argued with Shawn Spears before getting into the ring. MJF mocked Spears’ perfect ten taunt and gave him the finger. Janela capitalized with an elbow to MJF’s face and tagged Havok in. Jimmy Havok sent Guevara into the turnbuckle and then slammed Spears on top of MJF.

Havok sent MJF into Spears in the corner and delivered a Superplex off of MJF’s back that sent Guevara to the canvas. Darby tagged in as MJF sent Janela into the turnbuckle. Havok leveled MJF with the Acid Rainmaker but turned around into a Backstabber from Guevara.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150202947638370306

Guevara hit Janela with a Superkick and followed it up with a Suicide Dive. Back in the ring, Sammy planted Allin with a Standing Spanish Fly for a two count as the crowd broke out in an “AEW!” chant. Sammy made his way to the top rope but Janela caught him and slammed him onto the apron. https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150203659453685766

Fight for the Fallen started off with a solid 6-man tag match. There were some sloppy moments but the wrestlers overcame it and won the crowd over by the end of it. Shawn Spears looked great again and I’m looking forward to an eventual feud with MJF down the line. Thankfully, AEW also fixed their entrance music issue and it didn’t sound muffled as it did at Fyter Fest and Double or Nothing.

    Awesome Kong Helped Brandi Rhodes

Brandi Rhodes faced Allie tonight at Fight for the Fallen. Awesome Kong came down to the ringside area before the match started and Rhodes tried to capitalize with an attack from behind. Allie battled back and connected with a Russian Leg Sweep for a near fall to start off the match.

Allie rolled out of the ring and got in Awesome Kong’s face. Rhodes capitalized with a Dropkick through the ropes and then laughed on the ring apron. Rhodes poured a bottle of water on Allie and bounced her face off the ring apron several times as Awesome Kong laughed ringside.

Rhodes booted Allie in the face and went for the cover but Allie kicked out at one. Brandi connected with a terrible looking kick for a two count and followed it up with a few punches to Allie’s face.

Allie connected with a Neckbreaker and both wrestlers crashed to the canvas. Allie sent Rhodes to the corner and hit a sliding forearm for a near fall. Allie connected with a Bulldog and went for the cover but Brandi kicked out at two. Rhodes hit a Suplex and went for the cover but this time Allie was able to kick out at the last moment.

Brandi charged at Allie but caught a Superkick to the face. Allie followed that up with a Death Valley Driver and went for the cover but Awesome Kong dragged Brandi to the apron. Rhodes tried to capitalize with a roll-up but Allie kicked out. Allie locked in a Dragon Sleeper and Rhodes tapped out but the referee was distracted by Awesome Kong. Rhodes then hit the Bionic Spear for the pinfall victory.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150208310446084097

After the match, Rhodes attacked Allie and Awesome Kong joined in. Aja Kong came down to the ring and had a staredown with Awesome Kong as AEW officials rushed the ring.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150206587551830017

This match was absolutely atrocious and the ending of this match highlighted that. Rhodes had to stop mid-sprint because Allie wasn’t in position to take the Spear. Brandi then ran to the ropes again and hit the Bionic Spear but it looked terrible. Aja Kong versus Awesome Kong has the potential to be great, but the staredown doesn’t make up for how bad this match was.

I thought this match was very entertaining. I can’t wait for AEW to arrive on television every week so we can learn more about these teams during the tournament to crown the first AEW Tag Team Champions.

    Chris Jericho Attacked Hangman Page

Hangman Adam Page faced Kip Sabian tonight at Fight for the Fallen. Sabian and Page traded punches to start things off. Page got the better of the exchange and Clotheslined Kip to the outside.

Kip planted Page with a Tornado DDT for another two count. Hangman leveled Sabian with a Lariat and Kip rolled to the ring apron. Page followed him there and planted him with a Backbreaker on the apron. Hangman climbed to the top rope and hit Sabian with a Moonsault.

Lucha Brothers Challenged The Young Bucks To A Ladder Match At All Out

SCU faced the Lucha Brothers at AEW Fight for the Fallen. Christopher Daniels was ringside from the match. Both teams killed the first few minutes of the match by trading taunts.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150224862922903552

Pentagon and Fenix isolated Kazarian in the ring and hit him with double Superkicks. Lucha Brothers hit Daniels with Superkicks as well and then hit him with a chop that echoed throughout the arena. Daniels hit Lucha Brothers with a Moonsault and then rolled Fenix back into the ring.

Christopher Daniels hopped on the apron and referee Aubrey Edwards ejected him. Kazarian charged at Fenix but ran into a Superkick. Pentagon tagged in and planted Frankie with a Slingblade. Lucha Brothers took out Scorpio with a couple of kicks and tied him up in the Tree of Woe.

Pentagon hit him with a Senton and followed it up with a Double Stomp off the top rope for a two count. Kazarian hit Fenix with a German Suplex and then hit Pentagon with a Backstabber. Frankie perched Pentagon on the top turnbuckle and planted him with a DDT for a two count. Pentagon hit Scorpio Sky with the Canadian Destroyer for a two count. https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150227376334344192

After the match, Lucha Brothers brought a ladder into the ring and bashed Daniels and Kazarian in the face. Pentagon asked for a microphone as Fenix climbed the ladder. Pentagon joined him on the ladder and challenged The Young Bucks to a Ladder Match at AEW All Out.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150227772335411200

While I enjoyed this match, there were a couple of head-scratching moments. Christopher Daniels wasn’t involved in the match, but interfered right in front of the referee and SCU wasn’t disqualified. Fenix either had a brain fart in the middle of this match or the timing was off with Kazarian.

Fenix bounced off the ropes and completely stopped in the middle of the ring. He then did that again, shook his head in disgust, before finally flipping onto Kazarian on the outside. Botches happen in wrestling all the time, but it had to be pointed out because it completely took me out of the match for a bit. Having said that, this was still a fine match and the Ladder Match at All Out will likely be special. AEW’s tag team division is already miles ahead of WWE.

    https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1150235700396208128

AEW once again put on a very good show tonight and All Out is shaping up to be a must-watch show on August 31st. There are definitely some things AEW has to iron out before they are on TV every week. The commentary wasn’t good enough on tonight’s show and didn’t add much to the show. Alex Marvez brings zero energy and often times simply just makes noises during a match. The women’s matches were not that good at all tonight. Britt Baker actually tagged Shoko Nakajima instead of Riho during the Pre-Show and it was incredibly embarrassing.

There were several times during the show where the wrestlers seemed to have their timing off and that trend continued as the closing promo had to be rushed at the end of the show. WWE might be putting on lackluster shows every week, but we rarely see them rush through a segment due to timing issues. I’m sure AEW will continue to get better and will have everything sorted out once they reach television every week. Overall, Fight for the Fallen was still a very good show for a great cause.

Tony Khan Says AEW Fight For The Fallen Won’t Earn A Profit

Tony Khan says Fight for the Fallen’s show tonight is not designed to make a profit. Rather, Khan says a large amount of the proceeds will be donated to the Victims Advisory Assistance Council in Jacksonville.

Khan spoke with First Coast News in Florida recently about the event.

“I know we’re all here for the wrestling but we’re doing some other really awesome stuff with it too,” Khan said during the interview. “A great example of that is Fight For the Fallen. We’re donating a very large amount of money and this show is not designed to make a profit, it was never designed to make a profit, it’s not going to make any money. We’re in fact going to donate money made to the Victims Advisory Assistance Council, which the mayor has set up. And the VAAC will help benefit the victims of local crimes.”

Last August, the city was rocked by a shooting at Jacksonville Landing which left 2 dead and 10 injured. The shooting took during a gaming tournament featuring Madden NFL 19.

“We were looking for a partnership with the city where we could take the money we make from this event and donate a large portion of what we take in to benefit these people who have been victims of very unfortunate things.”

Khan would then continue to say that the shooting at the Jacksonville Landing and his commitment to the city is his motivation for throwing tonight’s charity event.

AEW Fight For The Fallen: How To Watch Tonight, Live Results At SEScoops.com

Alright fans, the time has come! All Elite Wrestling returns with the third event under the AEW promotional banner, as they present AEW Fight For The Fallen tonight from Daily’s Place Amphitheater at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.

It’s worth noting that tonight’s show is not only jam-packed with a line-up consisting of action-filled matches and entertaining segments, but that the reason behind the event in the first place is one that deserves a proper amount of attention.

AEW Event In Jacksonville For Good Cause

The proceeds from the gate for AEW Fight For The Fallen will benefit Jacksonville’s Victim Assistance Advisory Council (VAAC).

The Mayor’s Victim Assistance Advisory Council (VAAC) coordinates and encourages cooperative efforts among social service, criminal justice, mental health and other agencies to provide assistance to crime victims and their families.

The Council is composed of a chair and 26 members appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Members serve terms of three years each.

The 27 members represent a cross-section of representatives of community mental health, social services, criminal justice, education, the medical profession, crime victims and their advocates, and members of the general public.

“Last year Jacksonville endured a horrible mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing, and the VAAC was a tremendous support for the community,” said Tony Khan, AEW President, who also spoke with First Coast News for a 20-minute sit-down interview ahead of tonight’s AEW Fight For The Fallen event in Jacksonville (Watch Video Below).

“When we decided to host Fight for the Fallen, there was no question that AEW would stage the event here in Jacksonville and would give back to the organization that helped so many people during that incredibly tragic time.”

“We are extremely grateful to All Elite Wrestling and the ‘Fight for the Fallen’ event for this generous donation,” said Lenny Curry, Jacksonville Mayor.

“Making sure victims of violent crimes and their families have the support they need at one of the toughest times in their lives is a top priority for me. This donation is crucial in helping continue our efforts and providing victim assistance services when it is truly needed the most.”

“Farah & Farah” AEW ‘FFTF’ Presenting Sponsor

Serving as the Presenting Sponsor for AEW Fight For The Fallen will be longtime Florida / Georgia-based personal injury law firm, Farah & Farah.

The firm has been around for over 40 years and is featured regularly on local commercials at almost any given time of the day on any given channel.

As noted in the AEW announcement of Farah & Farah the Presenting Sponsor for AEW Fight For The Fallen, the integrated sponsorship with the law firm will include a number of cross-promotional efforts.

Among them are cross-promotional activities with AEW talent, customized co-branded graphics, signage on the ring apron / in-venue, as well as a number of various digital and social media efforts.

“We have a moral obligation to give back to the communities in which we live,” said Eddie Farah, Managing Partner of Farah & Farah (@FarahAndFarah).

“The fact that a mass shooting occurred here in Jacksonville just a few blocks from our office last year makes that moral obligation even stronger.”

Eddie continued, “We make it our mission to help protect injured people and their families, and supporting AEW’s Fight for the Fallen is one of the ways we actively live out that mission.

“When we saw that the proceeds of this event would be used to support victims of crime and their families – connecting them with crucial supportive services – we had to be part of this.”

“Eddie Farah started the firm in Jacksonville 40 years ago, and has been giving back to the community ever since,” said Tony Khan, President and CEO of All Elite Wrestling.

“Everyone at AEW cares deeply about the vibrancy and safety of Jacksonville, and we think that Farah & Farah is the perfect presenting sponsor of Fight for the Fallen as we all endeavor to raise money for the Victim Assistance Advisory Council.”

  • Dustin Rhodes Says Match Against Cody Was Greatest Of His Career

Dustin Rhodes Says Match Against Cody Was Greatest Of His Career

Cody vs Dustin Rhodes stole the show at AEW’s inaugural PPV event Double or Nothing in Las Vegas. The match has been praised by critics and wrestlers alike. Tonight, the two brothers will team together to face Matt & Nick Jackson the Young Bucks at Fight for the Fallen.

Dustin sat down with SI.com to speak about his match against Cody and his upcoming match against the Young Bucks.

“That match with Cody at Double or Nothing was the greatest thing I’ve ever done in 31 years,” Dustin said. “The crowd started the ‘Dusty’ chant right at the beginning of the match, and I thought, ‘Holy s—, this is f—ing incredible.’ From that moment on, everyone in the arena disappeared. They were there, so I could see them, but I couldn’t see them. I could hear them, but I couldn’t hear them.”

Dustin would continue to speak about the crowd’s impact on his match with Cody at Double or Nothing.

“Cody and I were so focused in the moment, and it was one of those nights where the stars aligned. We told a story with two interviews before the match, and we continued that story throughout the match. We built it up to where everybody was standing on their feet, wondering what was going to happen next.”

Dustin Rhodes Comments On Match Against Cody

The match was given a 5-star rating by Dave Meltzer. The recognition was not lost on Rhodes.

“To get a five-star rating from [The Wrestling Observer’s] Dave Meltzer, at my age, I was very proud of it. It’s one of the best storytelling matches in the past five years, and it did wonders for me at 50. I was honored to do it and honored to be in there.”

    Dustin Rhodes’ Favorite Matches

Rhodes was asked to compare his Double or Nothing bout against his brother with his WrestleMania “Hollywood Backlot Brawl” with Roddy Piper.

“Here’s the deal, by the end of 2015, there were three matches that were my tops. As soon as we did The Shield vs. The Brotherhood in 2013, that took the first spot,” Dustin said.

“But before that, there was the War Games with Sting’s Squadron vs. the Dangerous Alliance in 1992 and the WrestleMania XII match against Roddy Piper. That match was number one with me for a long time because it put me on the map as Goldust. It was before its time and it was legendary, the Hollywood Backlot Brawl, and it did a lot for me. It was one of the key moments that skyrocketed my career, but personally, this match with Cody has topped them all. I could quit happy now if I wanted to. There is nothing I could do to top what I did with Cody at Double or Nothing.”

Cody and Dustin Rhodes vs the Young Bucks is expected to headline tonight’s show from Jacksonville.

  • Darby Allin Says Shawn Spears Stole His Moment At Fyter Fest

Darby Allin Says Shawn Spears Stole His Moment At Fyter Fest

Darby Allin put on a great performance in his debut match for AEW at the recent Fyter Fest event. He wrestled Cody Rhodes in a singles match and while Darby wasn’t able to beat Cody, he took him to the absolute limit and the match ended in a time limit draw. However, his phenomenal performance was overshadowed by Shawn Spears’ attack on Rhodes.

Allin, who will be facing Shawn among others at this Saturday’s Fight For The Fallen event recently posted a video and hyped his upcoming bout. He mentioned how his debut was overlooked by Spears’ chair shot and claimed that the former WWE Star stole his moment and now he has a problem with Allin:

“Derby Allin’s debut in AEW became an afterthought. Shawn, I don’t think you understand what you did when you climbed in the ring at the end of my match, you stole my moment. You may have a problem with Cody but now you have a problem with me. Just because you don’t have what it takes, doesn’t mean you gotta steal from others”

Darby Allin will now be teaming up with Joey Janela, and Jimmy Havoc to face the trio of Shawn Spears, MJF, and Sammy Guevara at the Fight For The Fallen event at Daily’s Place Amphitheater in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s worth mentioning that the Allin-Spears rivalry is not the only dynamic in the match and it would be interesting to see how MJF is able to co-exist with Spears in a tag team after the attack on his mentor.

AEW Fight For The Fallen Predictions

In addition to WWE Extreme Rules, there will be an All Elite Wrestling (AEW) show this weekend, as AEW Fight For The Fallen goes down from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday night, July 13th.

The special, which will stream live via B/R Live service with a “Buy-In” pre-show leading into the main event, features a stacked lineup with several high-profile matches and segments.

On tap for Saturday night’s show is a tag-team bout pitting The Young Bucks against The Brotherhood, Cody and Dustin Rhodes, as well as singles action with Kenny Omega going one-on-one against CIMA and “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Kip Sabian, a “Live Mic” segment with Chris Jericho, women’s singles action with Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie, SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) vs. Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) and The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) vs. Angelico & Jack Evans vs. Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus in a three-way tag-team match with the winning team advancing to AEW All Out for a chance at a first-round bye in the AEW World Tag-Team Championship Tournament.

Scheduled for the AEW Fight For The Fallen “Buy-In” pre-show leading into Saturday night’s main card will be Sonny Kiss vs. Peter Avalon (with Leva Bates) in one-on-one action, Britt Baker & Rihno vs. Bea Priestly & Shoko Nakajima in a women’s tag-team bout and Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin & Joey Janela vs. MJF, Sammy Guevara and Shawn Spears in a six-man tag-team match.

SEScoops.com writers Andrew Ravens, Ian Carey and Matt Boone have come together to offer their insight and predictions for all of the matches for Saturday night’s show (Editor’s Note: The women’s tag-team match on the “Buy-In” pre-show was announced after this feature was compiled). Check out their breakdowns and picks for AEW Fight For The Fallen below.

Sonny Kiss vs. Peter Avalon (Pre-Show)

Andrew Ravens: A last minute addition to the AEW Fight For The Fallen card that I don’t think many fans are excited about. Avalon and Bates caught a lot of backlash over their characters after fans saw them in action at the Fyter Fest event a few weeks ago. I have Avalon going over with some cheap heat help by Bates to barely get by Kiss. (Prediction: Peter Avalon)

Ian Carey: I feel like the reason this match got added was specifically because of the poor reaction the librarian gimmick has received. It sort of seemed that way this week on BTE when Leva told the Bucks how great she feels the gimmick is getting over. It’s possible this match is being done specifically to get Jim Cornette all worked up. Regardless, Sonny Kiss should win what will be a rather silly match. (Prediction: Sonny Kiss)

Matt Boone: This one is your comedic relief match for the “Buy-In” portion of the AEW Fight For The Fallen event. Should be some more character development and storyline advancement in this one, with some goofy spots mixed in to keep it wrestling~! (Prediction: Peter Avalon)

    CONSENSUS: 2-1, Peter Avalon

Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin & Joey Janela vs. MJF, Sammy Guevara & Shawn Spears (Pre-Show)

Andrew: This should close the pre-show and a match that has fun written all over it with such personalities in it. I have MJF, Sammy Guevara & Shawn Spears going over just because they’re heels that have more potential than the babyfaces. MJF should be a talent that is protected in his booking as he could be a megastar for them once they get on TV. Thus, that’s the reason behind my belief. (Prediction: MJF, Sammy Guevara & Shawn Spears)

Ian: Expect some conflict between Shawn Spears and MJF during this match. MJF says that Cody is his mentor and Spears walloped (took me awhile to determine what word to use) Cody in the head with a chair at Fyter Fest. I’m expecting MJF and Spears to be too concerned with each other and not concerned enough with their opponents. (Prediction: Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin & Joey Janela)

Matt: Should be an interesting dynamic playing out on one team between MJF and Shawn Spears after Spears ripped Cody’s head open with a steel chair at the last AEW show. As far as inside the squared circle, this one should absolutely deliver from bell-to-bell, both in terms of entertainment and good wrestling action. (Prediction: MJF, Sammy Guevara & Shawn Spears)

CONSENSUS: 2-1, MJF, Sammy Guevara & Shawn Spears

Dark Order vs. Jack Evans & Angelico vs. Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy

Andrew: A late addition to the card that should see some excellent in-ring action with these three teams. Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy have more upside in my opinion that makes for a fun dynamic of a tag team. Jungle Boy has a ton of potential and could be a real star under the AEW banner. I see officials getting behind him and it could start at this show. (Prediction: Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy)

Ian: I’m expecting Evans and Angelico to pull out the win here. Dark Order are debuting but I expect they will be kept strong by attacking and getting heat on Jungle Boy during and after the match. Angelico and Evans are a fantastic tag team and likely one AEW will want to build up before the tag tournament begins in the fall. (Prediction: Angelico & Jack Evans)

Matt: This one should be good for what it is. They are really trying to make this tag-team tournament something special, and I think the slow-build over multiple shows is a smart way to do it. It helps showcase multiple teams and individuals by the time all is said-and-done. Who out of three makes the most sense moving forward? It’s actually a pretty tough one to pick. (Prediction: Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy)

CONSENSUS: 2-1, Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy

    Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie

Andrew: A tough pick here as this match does mark Brandi’s in-ring AEW debut and if they plan for her to be a top star, which I would assume to be the case, then you could make the argument that she should go over here. The dynamic of these stars should be interesting regarding the heel/face roles. Rhodes goes over in a win that doesn’t hurt Allie. (Prediction: Brandi Rhodes)

Ian: This will be Brandi Rhodes’ first match for the promotion but Allie is coming into this one having defeated Leva Bates at Fyter Fest. Something tells me Brandi has it out for Allie more than she is letting on. I’m expecting Allie to pull out the win on Saturday and the frustration from the loss haunting Brandi for the weeks that lay ahead. (Prediction: Allie)

Matt: Is it more important for Allie to go 2-0 and remain an undeated emerging singles star in AEW’s women’s division, or does AEW want Brandi Rhodes to start off her AEW career with a “W?” We’ll find out on Saturday, but I’ll assume it will be the latter. They could pull a swerve and have Brandi become a scorned women’s executive / authority figure after the loss, but I don’t think that will happen. (Prediction: Brandi Rhodes)

    CONSENSUS: 2-0, Brandi Rhodes

SoCal Uncensored vs. The Lucha Bros

Andrew: While SoCal will have a role in the tag team division, Lucha Bros are such money and one of the top teams in the division going forward. I don’t see a reason as to why Lucha Bros would lose here unless AEW is just going for a surprise. With that said, Bros go over in an entertaining bout. (Prediction: The Lucha Bros)

Ian: SCU comes into this one having defeated the Strong Hearts but also having not won the tag team triple threat at Fyter Fest (won by the Best Friends). The Lucha Bros come into this one 0-2 after having lost to the Bucks at Double or Nothing and then lost to the Bucks and Kenny while teaming with Laredo Kid at Fyter Fest. The Lucha Bros really need a win here and I’m expecting they get it. (Prediction: The Lucha Bros)

Matt: Like Ian and Andrew, I feel it’s time for the team of Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix to get their hands raised and their profiles strengthened in the minds of the AEW fanbase, and I believe that begins this Saturday night with a win over SCU in what could be a “Match of the Night” candidate. (Prediction: The Lucha Bros)

    CONSENSUS: 3-0, The Lucha Bros

    Hangman Page vs. Kip Sabian

Andrew: Another example of an easy pick as Page should go over here to keep him strong heading into the biggest match thus far in his pro wrestling career when he takes on Chris Jericho for the World Title at All Out next month. I wouldn’t rule out though Jericho costing him the match to further their feud that needs some heat. (Prediction: Hangman Page)

Ian: Hangman Page is 2-0 in AEW having won the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing and then defeating MJF, Jungle Boy, and Jimmy Havoc in a fatal 4-way match at Fyter Fest. Sabian defeated Sammy Guevara at Double or Nothing leading to this clash between unbeatens in the promotion. Page has the PPV main event coming up in late August, so he’ll get the win here. (Prediction: Hangman Page)

Matt: Screw it, I like to be different. While I agree with Andrew and Ian in the sense that Hangman Page should win here to keep his stock strong heading into the first-ever AEW World Championship match against Chris Jericho at AEW All Out, I feel with Jericho at the show for his “Live Mic” segment, he’ll also be used in an angle shot at the end of this match. I see Jericho costing him the match, heating up their personal issue heading into their already booked match in August. (Prediction: Kip Sabian)

    CONSENSUS: 2-1, Hangman Page

    Chris Jericho “Live Mic” Segment

Andrew: I would assume that Jericho is going to cut a heated promo about how much credit he should get for AEW’s success. I also see him hyping his match against Hangman Page at All Out next month. Should be fun.

Ian: With Jericho building up that he’ll have a live mic at Fight for the Fallen, expect him to have something noteworthy to say. Jericho isn’t the kind of performer who will build something up only for it to be a letdown when it happens.

Matt: If this is held before the Hangman Page / Kip Sabian match, I expect an entertaining heel-promo from Chris Jericho demanding his outstanding “Thank You” owed to him by the AEW fans from the inaugural AEW Double Or Nothing show. If this is scheduled after the Page-Sabian match, I see Hangman hitting the ring at some point to have a big pull-apart brawl segment leading to cool footage for the Jericho-Page video package for AEW All Out. We shall see!

CONSENSUS: 3-0, This should be awesome

    Kenny Omega vs. CIMA

Andrew: Omega should go over here. In my mind, there’s no reason for CIMA to win here despite how talented he is. Omega is a bigger star in the promotion now and going forward. AEW also needs to have him as strongly booked as possible heading into All Out next month against Jon Moxley. (Prediction: Kenny Omega)

Ian: Omega needs a win here after dropping Alpha vs Omega II to Chris Jericho at Double or Nothing. CIMA defeated Christopher Daniels at Fight for the Fallen and a win over Omega could catapult him into possible title contention. It feels like this match might be AEW trying to rehabilitate Omega after the loss to Jericho, however. Unfortunately, Jon Moxley won’t be anywhere near this match as he will be in Japan for the G1. (Prediction: Kenny Omega)

Matt: There a couple of really solid matches on paper on the AEW Fight For The Fallen card, but this one still stands out. I expect nothing less than a blockbuster in-ring outing from two excellent in-ring performers in what is essentially the featured singles match of the evening. I can’t see Omega losing here. (Prediction: Kenny Omega)

    CONSENSUS: Kenny Omega

The Young Bucks vs. The Brotherhood

Andrew: Does it really matter who wins in this match that appears to be a one-off? While you could make the case that The Young Bucks should go over here as they are the future of the tag team division, I see them wanting a feel-good ending to this show and that’s why Cody and Dustin go over here. It’s likely Dustin’s last match for the near future so why not have him get sent off in the right way? (Prediction: The Brotherhood)

Ian: This match will steal the show and be something fans talk about all the way up until All Out on August 31st. There are so many possible places this match could go but in the end, expect the Rhodes brothers to come out on top. The Bucks are 2-0 in AEW and can take a loss. With a win the Rhodes brothers and Young Bucks rivalry will continue as weekly TV begins and a tournament to determine the promotion’s first-ever tag champions commences. (Prediction: The Brotherhood)

Matt: I can’t wait for all four guys to be in the ring and for the bell to sound. This one has been built-up really well from day-one with the emotional embrace after the violent bloodbath Cody and Dustin Rhodes had at AEW Double Or Nothing. Anything The Young Bucks are involved with lately is entertaining as hell. This should have a bunch of bells and whistles and cool spots, and when all is said and done, I can’t imagine there won’t be at least a half-a-dozen “Holy Sh*t!” chants in the books by the time the bell sounds a second time and The Rhodes Brothers get their hands raised to end AEW Fight For The Fallen. Whoops, did I give up my pick already? (Prediction: The Brotherhood)

    CONSENSUS: 3-0, The Brotherhood

  • Jim Ross Critical Of Fyter Fest Pre-Show

Jim Ross Critical Of Fyter Fest Pre-Show

Jim Ross has never been one to shy away from voicing his opinion, even if it’s an observation on the company he’s working for.

Despite the hype and goodwill surrounding All Elite Wrestling (AEW), especially ahead of their October television debut and All Out event, Ross isn’t afraid to criticize if he thinks a match or segment isn’t up to scratch.

That’s precisely what he did when speaking to Sirius XM’s Busted Open Radio regarding Fyter Fest’s pre-show.

“Honestly, I wasn’t crazy about it,” Ross admitted. “I do not think it sold enough of what we were doing on the main show. I didn’t think it was what we needed to be doing.”

He continued, “Now, I like comedies—when I’m drinking those are my go-to. I think we have to be selling a good sampling of what we do in the main show. If you have a pregame show for a pay-per-view, those matches shouldn’t just be filler, they should be something.”

Wanting to improve the pre-show output from AEW isn’t the only thing Ross intends to focus on. He also wants to ensure that the entire AEW locker room is prepared for the reality of live TV and a touring schedule, something he claims the majority of wrestlers with an independent background are unfamiliar with.

  • Capitol Wrestling Executive Talks Losing Top Talents To AEW

Capitol Wrestling Executive Talks Losing Top Talents To AEW

So far AEW has signed a number of well-established names such as Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho. However, these are not the only stars they have signed and the company has also contracted many famous indie names from various companies such as Joey Janela, Brit Baker and more.

These signings mean that many indie companies lost their top stars and the co-founder of one such wrestling company recently spoke about it. The Executive Producer and Co-Creator of Capital Wrestling Matthew Ryan recently spoke to WrestlingInc, and revealed his reaction to the signing of Sonny Kiss and Nyla Rose:

“[Sonny Kiss’ success] makes me really happy. When I heard about it, I went, ‘Oh no! We lost our top guy.’ And then we lost Nyla Rose, I went, ‘Oh God! Two things we were trying to build are gone.’ But it’s the wrestling business and you deal with it, you alternate,” Ryan stated. “I found out Sonny and Nyla got signed while having the initial conversation for our Nashville show, and I’m right in the financial district and I went, ‘Oh s–t! They signed Sonny and Nyla.’

Though continuing on the topic, Matthew claimed that he couldn’t be happier. According to him Sunny and Nyla are two people who deserve the opportunity and deserve to be on an international stage. Apart from this, Matthew Ryan also talked about reviving the Capital Wrestling name, working with Seth Rollins’ wrestling school and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

  • Cody Rhodes Reveals The Worst Match He Has Ever Had

Cody Rhodes Reveals The Worst Match He Has Ever Had

Among the preparation for his upcoming match against the Young Bucks and his role as the Executive Vice President of the company, Cody Rhodes somehow still found time to do a small Q&A session.

The former WWE Star held the session from his Twitter account and he answered questions related to things like the worst match he has ever wrestled and more.

He started with a question about AEW when a fan asked what is the one thing that has happened within their upstart All Elite Wrestling promotion which he is thankful for.

Replying to it, the company EVP said that he is thankful for the whole thing. He said that nothing like this has happened in decades and as a fan of wrestling, this is a dream as well as a responsibility.

During the session, Cody also revealed the worst match he has ever had claiming that a tag match with Zack Ryder in Charlotte, North Carolina was his worst.

Explaining the reason behind it, Rhodes revealed that they had a sold-out show with a hot crowd but their match had to be stopped 10 seconds after it started because Ryder got a nose bleed and per Rhodes, he caused a scene backstage due to it.

Apart from this, Cody also talked about his ring gear for Fight For The Fallen and All Out, his favorite wrestlers of the Joshi Style and more. You can head over to his Twitter profile to check out the full session.

  • Cody Rhodes’ Second Children’s Book Comes Out On July 15

Cody Rhodes’ Second Children’s Book Comes Out On July 15

Cody Rhodes has been busy ever since leaving WWE. In between establishing himself on the independent circuit and becoming acquainted with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), he would also help to birth All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Somehow, despite his calendar being so full and his time so in demand, Cody has managed to find the time to write another children’s book.

Titled ‘Cody Heart of the Mountain,’ it is the second in the Elite Team Series. The story will feature younger versions of Cody and his Elite stablemates experiencing another adventure—this time dealing with the magical properties of a mystical summit.

Speaking on the release of the book, Cody said:

“Bringing this story to life was a labor of love. It was truly special watching Dylan Coburn masterfully bring the words to life as well as working with Trism Books to provide a positive message to children and adults alike. I hope you enjoy.”

Cody Heart of the Mountain will come out on July 15th for a suggested retail price of $16.95.

Both Cody and Brandi Rhodes will be attending book signings in support of its release for the next few months. They will be in Jacksonville, FL; Atlanta, GA; and Chicago, IL. Future cities are still to be announced.

  • Jim Ross Calls Jon Moxley AEW’s “Biggest Get,” Talks About Getting AEW Roster Ready For TNT Debut

Jim Ross Calls Jon Moxley AEW’s “Biggest Get,” Talks About Getting AEW Roster Ready For TNT Debut

Jon Moxley’s departure from WWE has allowed him to explore new opportunities. Since leaving, he has appeared in both New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Despite a roster showing off Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Cody, and The Young Bucks, he was an undeniably significant acquisition for the burgeoning AEW.

According to Jim Ross, he may just be the “biggest get” for them.

Speaking to SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, Ross explained how Moxley’s presence in the locker room will bolster the company, both backstage and in the ring.

“[…] it’s the biggest get yet, for us,” Ross claimed. “Because of the timeliness of him coming fresh off WWE television, I know he wasn’t always overwhelmed with his creative, but he got a lot of TV time, he has a lot of name amenity, and more importantly he’s young, athletic, and passionate. And he seemingly comes into work with a chip on his shoulder, he’s perpetual motion at TV, he’s full of energy. He’s a big get, man.”

“They Ain’t Been To The Big Dance, Yet”

Looking to the future, Ross opens up about the reality facing the locker room when AEW debut on TNT.

“They [the AEW roster] may have great reputations in the independent scene. They may have cult followings with a small smattering of fans here, there, and yon because of their work in the indies, but they ain’t been to the big dance, yet,” Ross explained.

“We’re gonna get them to the big dance in October when we go on TNT every week. Live television, prime time, every week, in October. So hopefully we can help continue to mold, mentor, coach ’em up, be a good listener, give ’em some love and some positive attention and motivation, and by October, whoever sticks with the roster by then, is going to have a whole different perspective.”

He stressed that come October, the entire roster are in for a shock if they aren’t prepared for the schedule and reality of what a live TV show entails, and so they are working towards helping them adjust to that ahead of time.

Adam Page Discusses Knee Injury Ahead Of All Out Match With Chris Jericho

Adam Page is slated to face off against Chris Jericho to determine the first-ever All Elite Wrestling (AEW) World Heavyweight Champion. The two will compete for the honor at AEW’s All Out event.

Page recently competed during AEW’s Fyter Fest, winning a Fatal 4 Way against Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Jimmy Havoc, and Jungle Boy. This win saw him earn even more positive momentum with his match against Jericho on the horizon.

After the match, he caught up with Alex Marvez backstage and addressed his health status ahead of his championship opportunity.

“Yeah, knee’s good,” informed Page. “Knee’s 100% healthy, healthy as a damn horse, I’ll say this time for sure. Knee’s good, I’m looking forward to it. A lot of training to do between now and then, but 100% healthy.”

Before All Out, however, Page will have another matchup against Kip Sabian. Their bout takes place at this coming Saturday’s Fight For The Fallen show.

Fight For The Fallen takes place on July 13th from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

    Fight For The Fallen Card

    • Kenny Omega vs Cima
    • Cody and Dustin Rhodes vs The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)
    • Brandi Rhodes vs Allie
    • Adam Page vs Kip Sabian
    • Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin, and Joey Janela vs MJF, Sammy Guevara, and Shawn Spears
    • SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) vs Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix)
    • Sonny Kiss vs Peter Avalon w/Leva Bates
  • Jim Ross Believes Chairs As Weapon Have ‘Run Its Course’ In Pro Wrestling

Jim Ross Believes Chairs As Weapon Have ‘Run Its Course’ In Pro Wrestling

The brutal chair shot at AEW’s Fyter Fest event has ignited a hot debate among wrestling fans on whether or not wrestlers need such unprotected chair shots to the head.

A lot of people believe that such shots should be banned completely and during his recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, wrestling legend Jim Ross provided a very different argument against the use of chairs in wrestling.

Ross said that he believes chairs as a wrestling weapon have run their course and unless someone can find a way to make them more innovative, they should get rid of it.

The former WWE Star explained his comments saying that chairs were useable objects back in the day because everybody, including the ringside fans and the studio audience, were sitting on them, so they were easily accessible.

However, nowadays nobody sits on a steel metal folding chair. The audience sits on much nicer chairs and using the older chairs as a weapon exposes the business.

Apart from this, Jim Ross also discussed the importance of protecting wrestlers from CTE, how wrestlers will need to start using their moves to win matches rather than going from one point to another and more.
