Peter Avalon vs. Sonny Kiss taking place on the Buy In Pre-Show was announced by the promotion on Wednesday evening. MJF, Shawn Spears and Sammy Guevara vs. Joey Janela, Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc in a six-man tag team match will also take place on the show.
All Elite Wrestling presents Fight For The Fallen from Jacksonville, FL at Daily’s Place Amphitheater this Saturday night live on B/R Live. Proceeds from the show will be donated to Jacksonville’s Victim Assistance Advisory Council, which benefits local victims of gun violence.
The promotion could announce more matches in the coming days. For now, take a peek at what the lineup looks like:

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross serves as a senior adviser for AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and has a ton of experience in the pro wrestling business. During a discussion with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on the latest Steve Austin Show podcast, the two spoke about a wide range of topics including the lessons AEW must learn from WWE’s missteps.
For years now, WWE has used a booking practice that sees heels constantly get heat on a babyface. He pointed out that with Austin being a babyface, he had to deal with this back in his day.
According to Ross, with AEW promising to be an alternative to WWE, he thinks this is one move that AEW should stay clear of.
“I hope we never get in a pattern of this,” Ross mused. “Where Stone Cold gets the win, the heel assaults him and we say ‘We gotta get his heat back.’ Well, what did you do for Austin? ‘he got the win.’ Somewhere along the way, the logic has gotten completely muddled.”
Ross stated that they’re not even talking logic here but rather ignorant to think to the crowd is processing the information the same as the promotion. Ross thinks the face should get the win and get him out of the ring. Then, have the heel cut a promo or get upset. Ross added, WWE does that a lot and I hope we don’t.”
Chris Jericho is scheduled to have a live mic this Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida. The promotion announced recently that Jericho will be on-hand at event, though he has not been scheduled for a match on the card.
Jericho posted the following to YouTube saying he wants to receive a “thank you” from AEW at Fight for the Fallen.
Chris Jericho Still Wants His Thank You
Jericho had the following to say in the video
“I’m Chris Jericho. I built this place, I put it on the map, I got a TV deal with the TNT network, do you think that would have ever happened without me on the AEW roster?” Jericho said. “Yes, I still want my thank you and guess what? If I don’t get it, in Jacksonville you made another mistake because you gave me a live mic.”
Fight for the Fallen Lineup
The following matches have been confirmed for Saturday’s show:
Brandi Rhodes vs Allie
Kenny Omega vs CIMA
Cody & Dustin Rhodes vs Matt & Nick Jackson (the Young Bucks)
Adam “Hangman” Page vs Kip Sabian
Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin & Joey Janela vs Shawn Spears, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, & Sammy Guevara
Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky w/ Christopher Daniels (SCU) vs Pentagon Jr. & Fenix (the Lucha Bros)
Matt & Nick Jackson are gearing up to take on Cody and Dustin Rhodes this Saturday at Fight for the Fallen. The Young Bucks recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet about a wide variety of topics related to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Check out Chris Van Vliet’s YouTube Channel for more of his recent wrestling interviews with stars like Batista, Jimmy Havoc, John Cena, Kelly Kelly, Jungle Boy and more.
CM Punk in AEW:
The brothers were asked about CM Punk during the interview. They echoed sentiment previously express by Cody that the door was open for Punk if he ever wants to return to wrestling. According to the Young Bucks, however, there is no indication Punk is interested.
Nick: We’ll be honest. Of course, we would love him to come to our company. At this time, I just don’t think he wants to.
Matt: When he wants to come back to wrestling, it’ll be his decision.
Nick: Matt talks to him all the time about it but the timing is not right, I guess.
Matt: Professional wrestling is the most demanding thing in the world. You can’t just find yourself back in it one day and be like ‘okay, I guess I’m doing this again.’ You really have to want to do it and that’s up to him.
The “gimmicked” Cody Rhodes chairshot at Fyter Fest:
Shawn Spears hit Cody in the head with a chairshot at Fyter Fest. The result was Cody needed staples to close a wound the chair opened up on his head. Spears will be interviewed by Jim Ross regarding the incident. The interview will play on a future episode of “the Road to Fight for the Fallen.”
Nick: The chair, the middle of it was so thin, it should have probably broke over his head if it was right in the middle. The edge of it happened to nail him right in the back of the head and that’s what cut him up … It would have felt like a cooking sheet, as thin as that. So it should have been like that but it didn’t.
Matt: It hit him at the wrong angle and it busted him open … The lip caught him and it got him good.
Nick: Either way, we knew it would carry controversy.
Matt: We warned him and we were like ‘this is going to be a big thing’ and it was and it had its effect and it worked but I’m just glad he’s okay. It’s scary. Anything messing with your brain, it’s freaky. Everyone was freaked out either way. I’m just glad he’s okay.
Nick: I don’t think Tony will allow that again.
Matt: He was pretty upset about it.
Their Executive Vice President roles in AEW:
Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Cody, & Kenny Omega are all Executive Vice Presidents of AEW. During the interview, the brothers mentioned that Omega in particular was perhaps a little overworked at Fyter Fest.
Matt: We’re such a baby company, still. I think we’re still just trying to figure that out. We’re all wearing 20 hats each.
Nick: We are behind the tag teams that are getting hired and signed. There’s different categories, you could say. Kenny is taking his time on the women’s division. He’s got his hands all over that.
Matt: You should have seen him at Fyter Fest. He worked 3 different matches he had to coach. Plus he had to do our match. He was nuts that day … At the end of the night, he just passed out.
The impact they are having on the wrestling business:
The success the Young Bucks have had in recent years has had a large impact on the wrestling industry as a whole. This fact has not been lost on Matt & Nick Jackson. They had the following to say on their impact on the business:
Nick: We’ve changed the whole pay scale for everyone in wrestling, which is awesome. A lot of our friends are getting paid and they’re finally making money for the first time in their careers. It feels good, it feels awesome.
Matt: The pressure has been put on everybody in the professional wrestling business … Everybody is trying harder now. It’s very competitive again. We need competition again. The industry needs it to survive.
If Being The Elite will continue when AEW TV starts:
It’s not clear if BTE will continue in the fall when AEW weekly TV begins. Matt Jackson indicated there could be formatting changes to BTE if the show does continue in the fall.
Matt: We always say we don’t know but how could it not in some way? I don’t know if it’s going to be the same format. Who knows? I don’t think that we can just get rid of it because it’s so powerful of a tool for us. I think it’s always going to have to be around in some fashion.
The latest on PAC and AEW:
PAC was originally scheduled to face Hangman Page at Double or Nothing. His deal with DragonGate prevented it from happening, however. The brothers indicated it is still likely we see PAC in the promotion, however.
Matt: He’s coming. I mean, eventually.
Nick: It’s a work in progress. It’s obvious that Matt and I are big fans of his. We met him like 10 years ago over in Japan so we’ll always have ties with him and we wanna work things out with him.
Matt: It’s a priority for us and I think we’re gonna make this thing work.
Nick: I think it’s just a matter of trying to fit his schedule with ours and hopefully, things will work out.
What would they be doing if there was no AEW?
The Young Bucks negotiated with WWE before signing with AEW.
Nick: The last options we had before AEW became a thing was going to WWE or starting our own thing and we were probably going to start our own thing.
Was WWE an option?
WWE was an option for the brothers. In fact, Matt Jackson said that at one point they and Omega thought they were going to end up there. Here is what they said about their negotiations with WWE:
Matt: We talked to them endlessly. At one point, I remember me, Nick and Kenny were in a room because all of our deals were up at the same time. We got off the phone one day and we looked at each other and we said ‘I think we’re all going to WWE.’ It was that close. Tony came to us at the right time and he made the right offer. I’m not talking financially, I’m talking ‘hey, you guys can run this thing’ and ‘I want you guys to hire your people.’ It’s like someone saying ‘I want you to make a movie and you can hire all the cameramen. You can hire all the writers, all your friends to be with you.’ He gave us the keys to this thing. You can’t say no to this.
Nick: One thing that took out of the race for going to WWE was the amount of dates that they wanted us to do.
Matt: They even offered us a limited schedule.
Nick: We have young families. Even with the limited schedule, it was like ‘God, I can’t imagine being home [just] for 2 days for my kids.’
WWE’s view of AEW as competition:
According to Matt & Nick Jackson, both WWE and New Japan are not happy with them. In fact, the word “hate” was used.
Matt: I think everybody looks at AEW as competition because we’re this new thing. People are afraid of the unknown. They’re like ‘who are these guys’ and every day you see a new headline about something we’re doing. It’s intimidating. People are fearful of change, I get it.
Nick: We’re gonna stay that way. We’re gonna be the alternative and we really do mean it. We want to be different from every other company that you see. I feel like the first 2 shows that we’ve done, we’ve given a different type of shoe every time we’ve done it.
Is there any talk about making an AEW video game?
Perhaps not surprisingly, the Young Bucks responded enthusiastically that they hope for there to be an AEW video game in the future.
Matt & Nick: Yes
Nick: We’re gonna have a little bit of everything.
After Cody took an unprotected chair shot to head at All Elite Wrestling’s recent Fyter Fest show, discussion has once again resurfaced over the dangers such impact can induce.
Jim Ross recently joined “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on his podcast. The two eventually addressed Shawn Spears attacking Cody with a weapon.
Overdone
“It’s like a lot of things in wrestling,” Ross said. “It’s overdone: A little goes a long way, and some of that stuff that we see and the chair is a perfect example, it’s a shortcut that people use as a crutch, and it’s overused.”
Ross admits he is not an advocate for people getting hit in the head, saying he’s “[…] not a big fan of it.”
“I’ll just come out and say what I would do: I wouldn’t do any more chair shots to the head. We’re done with that business. If I can’t have a team around me that are creative enough to get me the results of what I want in this angle or this storyline without having to scramble somebody’s brains for real, then I need to find some more hands cause we got the wrong staff here. Your last original idea died of loneliness, c’ mon.”
Special Occasions
Austin agreed with Ross’ sentiment that chair shots are overdone. He added that “In this day and age—a one-off here or there, because if you don’t make it so frequent…and it is unimaginative at this point in time.”
He continued, saying “[…] I’m not gonna say ‘in defense of it’ I’m just saying when you’re on the receiving end, it is a calculated risk. If a guy is willing to take that risk, I say more power to him, but then there comes that trust factor as well.”
Jim would give his rebuttal, arguing that the problem lies with everyone wanting to have the chair shot in their back pocket for a “special occasion.”
The problem being that “a special occasion may be different definitively than their special occasion. So as long as they have that option, they’re going to go to it as often as they because ‘this is my special occasion.’”
It appears that Enzo Amore and Joey Janela got into a physical confrontation during a concert. Both were in attendance for last night’s blink-182 show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
According to their Twitter rendition, Janela attempted to introduce himself before Amore slapped Joey’s hands away, challenging him to a fight.
The two confirmed the altercation occurred, allowing the confrontation to spill over onto social media.
The Rock Show
After the event, Enzo Amore wrote the following to Joey Janela:
“I’m glad you introduced yourself cause I couldn’t pick you out of a line up. You don’t want no smoke. And now I know it, there’s only two things that smell like fish. Ones fish. @JANELABABY straight p****y.”
In response, Janela replied, “At least I said hello….”
This incited Enzo all the more, who warned him not to “try & play that wrestling s**t with me,” promising he would “end up on f*****g world star.”
“Where was that energy at? We aint friends @JANELABABY Dont introduce urself to me f***boy I thought u were a fan hahaha the second I realized it was u I slapped ya bitchass hands down & walked @ u w/ MY HANDS UP YA F******N RAN BACKWARDS & told my homey to film it ??? soft af”
Janela addressed the accusation, claiming that they had, what he called, “the s******t fist fight of the year.”
Amore, however, remembers it differently.
“Boy we didn’t have the s******tfist fight of the year, I slapped ur f*****n hands down and walked at u with mine up and u walked away and let me know all that S**t u talk IS A WORK… which is fine if I were a wrestler.”
Janela explained that, with his exclusivity deal starting in October, they won’t have an opportunity to wrestle or fight. All he wanted to do was introduce himself.
That being said, “The Bad Boy” did throw out one last challenge:
Past Heat
The two have had heated Twitter exchanges in the past, with Joey Janela accusing Enzo of making a joke out of the wrestling business.
Janela would lay down a challenge to face Amore in a shoot match at Josh Barnett’s next Bloodsport event. He even promised to do 4-6 months training so he wouldn’t “make a fool out of his art, the way NZO makes a joke out of the wrestling business…”
Enzo, in turn, offered to pay for his classes before Janela shot back, claiming he would want him to blow the last of his money.
This Saturday, All Elite Wrestling presents AEW Fight for the Fallen from Jacksonville, FL at Daily’s Place Amphitheater.

On the latest episode of Being The Elite (seen below), AEW announced a new tag team match for the card. The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon and Fenix) will team up against SoCal Uncensored’s Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky.
With the addition of Lucha Bros vs. SCU, we now have six matches signed for AEW Fight for the Fallen:
Cody & Dustin Rhodes vs The Young Bucks
Kenny Omega vs. CIMA
Adam “Hangman” Page vs Kip Sabian
Allie vs Brandi Rhodes
Joey Janela, Darby Allin, & Jimmy Havoc vs Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Shawn Spears, & Sammy Guevara
Lucha Bros. vs. SCU
There will also be a ‘special appearance’ by Chris Jericho. The Fozzy frontman says he’s pissed off and will be taking advantage of a live mic at the show. “Let’s just say you won’t believe what Im gonna say….”
As Shawn Spears was being ejected from the building at Fyter Fest, he was heard saying if AEW wants an explanation, they could send Jim Ross. He would later follow up the request with a Tweet.
The promotion has since announced that Ross has agreed to interview Spears. The interview will be the first episode of “the Road to All Out” which airs on YouTube.
The next event for AEW will be July 13th’s Fight for the Fallen from Jacksonville. Following the charity event, AEW will not present another show until August 31st’s All Out from Chicago’s Sears Center.
Spears is scheduled to team with MJF and Sammy Guevara against Jimmy Havoc, Joey Janela, and Darb Allin at Fight for the Fallen.
Shawn Spears Attack on Cody
Following his attack on Cody at Fyter Fest, Spears has posted the following to social media:
AEW Fight For the Fallen Lineup
The following matches have been confirmed for Fight for the Fallen:
Kenny Omega vs CIMA
Brandi Rhodes vs Allie
Matt & Nick Jackson (the Young Bucks) vs Cody & Dustin Rhodes
Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Shawn Spears, & Sammy Guevara vs Joey Janela, Darby Allin, & Jimmy Havoc
WWE isn’t just sitting around while its upstart competition gains traction.
The company is well-aware of All Elite Wrestling’s early success. AEW is selling out arenas in record time, landed a big television deal on TNT and has already positioned itself as an alternative place to work for disgruntled talent.
WWE made headlines late last month with the announcement that EVOLVE’s 100th live event will air on the WWE Network head-to-head against AEW’s next show, Fight for the Fallen. This move got under the skin of Kenny Omega, who said it makes him sick that WWE ‘lines their pockets with [Saudi] blood money’ and felt the need to undermine AEW’s event, which benefits victims of gun violence in Jacksonville, FL.
According to Dave Meltzer at F4wonline, WWE has plans to jam up yet another AEW show. Meltzer says we should expect “another major counter by WWE” on August 31st, the night of AEW ALL OUT. It’s worth noting that WWE is holding an NXT UK TakeOver event that day from Cardiff, England.
This latest development shows that the ‘cold war’ between WWE and AEW is heating up. The tension began at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, when Triple H referenced AEW as a “piss-ant” company that Vince McMahon could purchase and shut down if he really wanted to.
WWE forced The Undertaker and Kurt Angle to pull out of Starrcast II during Double or Nothing weekend, which also saw Cody Rhodes destroy a throne with a sledge hammer – a clear sign that AEW isn’t shying down from this confrontation.
WWE is locking in talent to longterm contracts, with pay increasing and mid-card performers scoring lucrative 5-year deals. WWE is shaking up its product in hopes of recapturing the coveted 18-34 demographic ahead of AEW’s premiere on TNT this fall.
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T was scheduled to appear at the next Starrcast convention, which takes place during ALL OUT weekend. According to Meltzer, Booker T pulled out of that appearance because he realized the the WWE vs. AEW situation is “very real” and decided it was best to not get caught in the middle. We’ve reached out to Booker T for comment.
Update: Starrcast III promoter Conrad Thompson wrote the following on Friday in response to Meltzer’s report about Booker T:
All Elite Wrestling has added a new match to their upcoming Fight for the Fallen card. The event will take place from Jacksonville, Florida on July 13th, 2019. AEW announced that MJF, Sammy Guevara, and Shawn Spears will team up to go against Darby Allin, Jimmy Havoc, and Joey Janela.
MJF does not appear happy he will be teaming with the man who split-open Cody at Fyter Fest with a chair shot.
Meanwhile, Darby Allin is referring to his team as the “Mount Rushmore of Violence.”
Why Did Shawn Spears Attack Cody?
We’ve yet to hear from the former Tye Dillinger as to why he attacked Cody at Fyter Fest. Spears and Cody had been tag team partners together in OVW, having won the OVW Southern tag team titles together twice.
Spears insinuated on Twitter that he’ll reveal why he attacked Cody if he is interviewed by Jim Ross.
Updated Fight For The Fallen Lineup
Cody & Dustin Rhodes vs Matt & Nick Jackson (the Young Bucks)
CIMA vs Kenny Omega
Adam “Hangman” Page vs Kip Sabian
Allie vs Brandi Rhodes
Joey Janela, Darby Allin, & Jimmy Havoc vs Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Shawn Spears, & Sammy Guevara
AEW Executive President Cody Rhodes showed off a nasty cut on the back of his head in a photo that he shared on his official Twitter account.
At the time of the incident, it was noted that he had to get 12 stitches. It turns out that he actually had to receive 10 stitches. Rhodes shared this photo along with the update:
The cut happened at the Fyter Fest event over the weekend following his match against Darby Allin, which went to a 20-minute draw. Post-match, Shawn Spears hit Rhodes in the head with a steel chair.
This caused controversy online as Rhodes turned his head and didn’t put up his hands. As a result, Rhodes was bleeding from the back of his head. This was an accident as the chair was supposed to be gimmicked but the back of the chair that wrapped around his head is what caused the cut.
Private Party Signs Full-Time With AEW
Not only did Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) impress fans with their latest match but also AEW officials including The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson).
Matt Jackson noted on Twitter today that he and his brother offered the tag team contracts with contracts following their three-way tag team match that took place on the AEW Fyter Fest pre-show. They join an already stacked tag team division in AEW.
AEW’s Luchasaurus didn’t wrestle at Fyter Fest but he was on-hand to give Jungle Boy a ride to his match. Previously, the dinosaur/wrestler competed in the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing. He spoke with journalist Chris Van Vliet about how Dusty Rhodes was influential in creating his current gimmick and other topics.
“It didn’t come from my brain exactly,” Luchasaurus said regarding his character. “It just kind of molded over time organically and I think that’s why it works. When I was in developmental in WWE, I was working with Dusty Rhodes. He was one of the few guys that really believed in me because he saw this weird guy that had this Master’s degree have an interesting look.”
“He knew there was something like this Luchasaurus in his head and we just couldn’t put our finger on it and every week we’d try something.”
Luchasaurus was released from WWE in 2014. He then wrestled as Vibora in Lucha Underground, a member of the Reptile Tribe.
“When I got to Lucha Underground on the day I started, they were like here we got this character with a giant snake and helmet mask … Before I went out there, I ask them to cut my hair out. So we started to cut it up a little bit and then when I went out there the crowd just started chanting something to me. I thought they were making fun of me … I got to the back and they’re like ‘dude, they were chanting Luchasaurus.”
His tag-team with Jungle Boy has been referred to as “A Boy and his Dinosaur” at independent events.
Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy
Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus attended the same wrestling school in 2009. Luchasaurus also spoke about how he and Jungle Boy finally began teaming together recently.
“Joey (Ryan) said hey I want to put you and Jungle Boy together as a team because I was trying to get Jungle Boy there to wrestle and then I was like wait a minute you’re right, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy sounds like a good combo. So he put us together as a team and we came out to the ring and I said why don’t you come out on my shoulder and let’s do something together.”
The full interview can be viewed in the player below:
Allie wrestled her first match for All Elite Wrestling at Fyter Fest. She defeated Leva Bates on the Buy-In pre-show. Following the event, Allie participated in a post-event media scrum along with Jungle Boy.
“So, I don’t know if you guys could tell but I had the biggest smile on my face and that was so genuine,” Allie said. “I was so excited and so happy, I’m still smiling.”
She was then asked why she decided to leave Impact for AEW.
“I spent a lot of time at Impact and my time kind of came to an end and here was AEW and I was so excited,” Allie responded. “First of all, I love the guys who run AEW and I was so excited for them to start this amazing company and I just knew this is where I wanted to be.”
Allie was then asked to compare Impact and AEW’s locker rooms and asked if AEW has been a better experience than Impact.
“I wouldn’t say better experience here, I mean both locker rooms are amazing. Every single woman on the Knockouts roster is amazing, I loved sharing a locker with them and I’m excited to share a locker with these ladies too.”
Allie In AEW
Allie’s next match for the promotion will take place at Fight for the Fallen from Jacksonville on July 13th. She is scheduled to take on Brandi Rhodes at the event.
Jon Moxley took some time to share a photo on his official Twitter account of the nasty scars that he received during his most recent match.
Moxley was able to pick up a win in his in-ring debut with AEW at the Fyter Fest event that aired on Bleacher Report Live when he beat Joey Janela in a non-sanctioned match.
During the match, Moxley took some crazy spots including getting slammed on barbed wire and thumbtacks. He shared this photo:
AEW will hold their next event, Fight for the Fallen, on July 13, 2019 from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a charity event as the proceeds will be donated to victims of gun violence. As of this writing, Moxley doesn’t have a match lined up for this show. Here is the updated card:
Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie
Kenny Omega vs. Cima
Cody and Dustin Rhodes vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
Hangman Page vs. Kip Sabian
Moxley will be wrestling Kenny Omega in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL, which has already sold out.
We recently learned from a report that WWE is trying to strengthen their grip on the United Kingdom market after AEW signed a TV deal with popular free-to-air channel ITV. (More details here)
We only know that AEW has a weekly television deal with ITV in place and a possible PPV event in the island nation for now, and Young Bucks are here to give more info on the matter.
Speaking to The Independent, Matt explains why having a UK TV deal was a priority for the promotion. “We’ve had a large fan-base in the UK for years. The Khans are popular over there with Fulham FC and, I think, right away we have our foot in the door – we’re definitely looking to come there and present AEW.”
As for the UK PPV event, which will be a first in over 25 years, Young Bucks reveal they already have a working title for the event in mind.
“I don’t want to put out too many spoilers, but we might have already thought of the name for one event!” said Nick.
Matt added, “We already have a working title, if that tells you anything – I can’t take credit for it because a fan gave me the idea! I presented it in the group chat and everybody immediately gave it the thumbs up. “
While nothing is confirmed yet, the company seems to have UK on their bucket list for sure.
“Going over there is a big priority for us; we know there is a large fan-base there and that they want to see All Elite Wrestling,” Matt said.
“We don’t have anything confirmed yet, but I can almost guarantee that we’ll eventually be there.”
With their TV deal with ITV, Matt says AEW wants to become a household name and reach the casual audience.
“My hope is that we’re regularly on television, pulling in good ratings and have developed an even larger fan-base where more casual fans are AEW fans.
Right now we have that cult following, we have the ‘smarter’ fans, but it’s time to appease the children, to reach families and get everyone on board.”
All Elite Wrestling has become the most trending commodity in the world of professional wrestling and everyone has thoughts about it. A particular event made more waves during the company’s Double or Nothing show during which Cody Rhodes smashed Triple H’s throne while making his entrance.
WWE Hall of Famer and Legend Ric Flair who is close friends with AEW President Tony Khan, spoke to WrestlingInc. on their WINCLY Podcast and gave his opinion on Cody smashing the throne with a sledgehammer.
Flair believes that Cody went straight for Triple H because The Game is a top guy. “If you are going to make a statement, Hunter’s a top guy,” said Flair.
“Hunter is a disciple of the business and could not have come along at a better time in wrestling than he did. Then of course marrying Stephanie and he’s got a work ethic just like Vince has. In my mind, if something ever happens to Vince, God forbid, Hunter will be the one running the company.”
And that is how a statement is made, according to The Nature Boy. “So, that’s how you get someone’s attention. You jump on a guy. When they are talking about you, you’re doing something good. That’s a good saying in this business.”
AEW’s second official event is in the books. Fyter Fest took place last night from Daytona Beach. Next up for the young promotion will be Fight for the Fallen on July 13th from Jacksonville.

We will be heading into All Elite Wrestling’s Fight for the Fallen in two weeks as the promotion concludes Fyter Fest.
As Adam Page defeated Jimmy Havoc, Jungle Boy and MJF in a four-way match at Fyter Fest, it was announced that he will go on against Kip Sabian in a singles match at Fight for the Fallen. Sabian had joined the commentary team at Fyter Fest before the four-way and announced that he would face the winner on July 13 in Jacksonville.
AEW Fight for the Fallen will take place on July 13 from the Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. This will be the third event promoted under the AEW banner. Proceeds from the show will be donated to a local charity benefitting victims of gun violence.
The Young Bucks teamed with Kenny Omega last night at AEW Fyter Fest last night. The trio took on and defeated the Lucha Bros and Laredo Kid. After the event, the Young Bucks were asked about potentially introducing trio titles to AEW. Matt & Nick Jackson say they don’t want to oversaturate their title belts, however.
“No, we don’t want to oversaturate the titles,’ Nick Jackson responded when asked about adding trios titles.
“We have one (championship),” Nick continued.
“I think that’s enough,” Matt added. “That’s what I would do, keep it really simple. I mean there are great 6-mans…”
“We don’t need titles for them,” Nick added.
Currently, AEW plans to crown their first World Champion at All Out, have plans for a women’s championship, and will use a tournament to crown their first tag team champions.
The Young Bucks Post Event Media Scrum
The brothers also addressed their Street Fighter themed ring-gear for the event.
“We’re big Street Fighter fans,” Matt said. “Kenny’s the biggest. I kind of dropped off after 2. Nick’s a 2 guy too, I bought him the arcade. We’re just big Ryu, Ken, and Guile fans.”
The Bucks also address time-limits being used in their matches.
“We discussed that yesterday, actually,” Matt said. “That’s one thing I think I like that people do overseas internationally. I don’t know why but it makes it seem more sporty.”
Last night at AEW Fyter Fest, Cody took a chair shot to the head delivered by Shawn Spears. Cody and Darby Allin had just wrestled to a 20-minute draw when Spears appeared in the ring and delivered the blow. After the match, AEW would later Tweet that it took 12 staples to close the wound but Cody did not suffer a concussion.
In a post-event media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan explained that the chairshot to the head was a mistake.
“We called the doctor immediately, it was obviously really regrettable what happened,” Khan said. “I don’t know if this is the time to go into what happened but we had taken precautions in this situation – in that specific situation. A doctor was available and Cody does not have a concussion, he has staples, and we’re all very grateful for that.”
Nick Jackson On Cody’s Chairshot To The Head
During his post-event media scrum, Nick Jackson insinuated the chairshot was not as unprotected as it perhaps appeared.
“You think it was unprotected,” Nick said. “I’ll just leave it at that.”
Tony Khan On Differences Between TV and Streaming Show
Khan would also stress that such violence won’t be apart of AEW TV when it begins in the fall.
“No, definitely not. This was not TV, it was a streaming show,” Khan said when asked if the hardcore wrestling at Fyter Fest would be part of AEW TV in the fall. “It was effectively a PPV in a lot of the world. In the US, it was presented free, but this was a PPV. You can expect different rules for PPV and we said going in these are non-sanctioned hardcore matches.”
“We wouldn’t have offered that on TNT, a 100% no,” Khan stressed.
Khan also addressed time limits, issues related to production, and more:
AEW Fyter Fest aired live from the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Preshow Results:
Best Friends def. Private Party, and SCU in a Triple Threat Match. Best Friends earned a match at WWE All Out.
Allie def. Leva Bates
Michael Nakazawa def. Alex Jebailey in a Hardcore Match
Here are 6 takeaways from the show:
CIMA Outlasted Christopher Daniels
Christopher Daniels squared off against CIMA to start the main show. CIMA connected with a shoulder tackle but Daniels battled right back with an Arm Drag. CIMA knocked Daniels out of the ring and Dropkicked him into the barricade.
Daniels connected with a Northern Lights Suplex onto the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Daniels planted CIMA with a Suplex and followed it up with a Moonsault. Daniels applied a Crossface in the middle of the ring but CIMA was able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold.
CIMA caught Daniels on the top turnbuckle and slammed him to the mat for a two count. Daniels hit a Blue Thunder Bomb and then Angels Wings for another two count. CIMA hit Daniels with an Enziguri and followed it up with a Powerbomb. CIMA connected with the Perfect Driver but Daniels kicked out at two. CIMA climbed to the top rope and hit Meteora for the pinfall victory. CIMA will face Kenny Omega in two weeks at AEEW Fight for the Fallen.
CIMA and Daniels needed to put on a good match to get the crowd back because the last two matches of the Preshow were brutal. Thankfully, they did and I’m looking for CIMA versus Omega in a couple of weeks.
Riho Picked Up A Win
Riho faced Nyla Rose and Yuka tonight at Fyter Fest. Rose dominated early and planted them both with a Suplex. Yuka hit Rose with a Hurricanrana and Nyla tumbled to the outside. Yuka then hit Riho and Nyla with a spingboard Crossbody.
Back in the ring, Yuka climbed to the top rope and connected with a Dropkick on Riho for a two count. Riho hit Yuka with a Double Stomp and then kneed Nyla in the face. Riho followed that up with a 619 and then another Double Stomp off the top rope.
Yuka leveled Riho with a Clothesline and went for the cover but Nyla broke it up. Yuka tried to Clothesline Nyla but Rose caught her and slammed her to the mat for a two count. Nyla planted Yuka with a Suplex and then hit Riho with a Splash in the corner.
Rose hung up Riho on the top rope and hit Riho with a knee to the face as the crowd chanted “holy sh*t!”. Nyla went for a Senton off the top rope but Riho got out of the way at the last second. Riho went for a Crossbody but Rose caught her. Nyla then caught Yuka as well but both countered into a roll-up for a two count.
Yuka went for a Splash but Riho got her knees up. Rose planted Yuka with a German Suplex and then a massive Powerbomb but Riho broke up the cover. Nyla Rose planted Riho with the Death Valley Driver but Riho was able to kick out at the last moment. Riho rolled up Rose to win the match and Nyla attacked her from behind. Yuka and Riho Dropkicked Rose out of the ring and then Riho shoved Yuka to the canvas.
Hangman Page Continued His Momentum
MJF came down to the ring and cut an absolutely incredible promo that insulted the crowd. MJF stated that he used to love video games but then he lost his virginity. He added that he is going to win tonight because he is better than everyone in the crowd and they know it. MJF, Jungle Boy, Jimmy Havoc, and Hangman Adam Page battled in a Fatal 4-Way match.
Jungle Boy hit Page with a Hurricanrana that sent him flying out of the ring. Hangman got back into the ring and planted Jungle Boy with a Fallaway Slam. MJF sent everyone to the outside and made it seem like he was going to flip onto everyone but opted to give the crowd the finger instead. Jungle Boy flipped onto everyone outside the ring in an awesome sequence.
Jimmy Havoc perched Jungle Boy on the top rope and set up for a Superplex. Hangman Powerbombed Havoc at the same time and Jungle Boy wound up landing on MJF. Adam Page Powerbombed Jungle Boy and went for the cover but MJF put Jungle Boy’s foot on the bottom rope.
MJF went for a Sharpshooter but Page reversed it. MJF screamed in pain but was able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold. Jimmy Havoc launched Jungle Boy onto Luchasaurus outside the ring. Havoc then hit MJF with Double Stomp for a two count. Adam Page booted MJF out of the ring and then planted Havoc with Dead Eye for the pinfall victory.
MJF is going to be a huge star once AEW has its weekly television show. After a rough start, this show is back on track with the women’s Triple Threat and then this very solid Fatal 4-Way match.
Shawn Spears Attacked Cody After A Great Match With Darby Allin
Darby Allin battled Cody tonight and Brandi Rhodes was ringside for the match. Cody went for a Hip Toss but Allin countered and sent Cody to the canvas. Cody rolled out of the ring to regroup and took his time getting back into the ring.
Cody got pissed off and slapped Allen in the face. Cody launched Allin through the ropes and to the floor outside. He then did some pushups in the ring while he waited for Darby to return.
Allin slammed Cody’s wrist into the ring post but Cody leveled him with a Clothesline for a near fall. Cody lifted Allin up for a Suplex but Darby grabbed Cody’s injured hand. Allin unloaded punches and headbutts to Cody’s injured hand and then bent it back.
Darby connected with a Suicide Dive but Cody shrugged it off and slammed Allin into the steel steps. Cody hit a Suicide Dive of his own and rolled Allin back into the ring as it was announced that there are five minutes remaining in the match.
Allin climbed to the top rope but Cody clubbed him in the back. Cody connected with a reverse Superplex and both wrestlers fell to the canvas as the crowd chanted “AEW!”.
Darby bit Cody’s injured hand and knocked him to the canvas. Allin leaped off the top rope but Cody got out of the way and Allin landed back-first onto the ring apron. Cody booted Allin in the face and Darby fell into the bodybag he brought to the ring. Cody hit Allin with the Disaster Kick and went for the cover but Darby somehow kicked out at two with one minute remaining in the match.
Cody hit Allin with his belt a couple of times and was able to connect with the Cross Rhodes. Cody went for the cover but the time limit expired at two. Shawn Spears then rushed the ring and hit Cody on the top of the head with it.
I’m sure there will be some debate about wrestlers taking chair shots to the head after this one. I enjoyed because this entire match felt old school. A boot to the ribs and chair shot to the back would have been out of place by Spears here. I honestly knew hardly anything about Darby Allin before this match and now I can’t wait to see more of him. Allin is clearly an unbelievable athlete and showed just a glimpse of what he can do tonight. Cody deserves a ton of credit because he made Allin look like a megastar in twenty minutes. The pace of this match was perfect and I don’t have a bad thing to say about it.
The Elite Defeated Lucha Brothers & Laredo Kid In An Excellent Match
Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) and Laredo Kid squared off against The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. All six wrestlers got in each other’s face during the beginning of the match and a brawl broke out. Lucha Brothers and Laredo Kid connected with a trio of Superkicks that sent everyone out of the ring.
Laredo Kid connected with a Michinoku Driver and then a Moonsault for a two count. Nick Jackson took out Laredo Kid and Fenix before tagging Matt into the match. Matt hit two Northern Lights Suplexes on Laredo Kid and then planted Lucha Brothers with a Northern Lights Suplex as well.
Kenny Omega tagged in and planted Laredo Kid with a Backbreaker for a two count. Laredo Kid went for a Crossbody off the top rope but Omega countered with a Dropkick. The Elite isolated Laredo Kid in the ring and Omega planted him with a German Suplex.
Pentagon Jr. hit Omega with a Backstabber that sent him out of the ring. Laredo Kick took out Nick Jackson with a Suicide Dive as Pentagon hit Matt with a Double Stomp for a near fall. Laredo Kid planted Omega with a Spanish Fly off the top rope and the crowd chanted “AEW!”.
A Superkick party broke out and The Elite knocked Lucha Brothers and Laredo Kid to the canvas. They followed that up with triple Powerbombs for a two count. Nick Jackson hit a ridiculous 450 Splash onto Fenix and Laredo Kid. Omega went for the cover but Pentagon kicked him in the head. Pentagon planted Nick Jackson with a Slingblade outside the ring as Omega hit Laredo Kid with the V-Trigger.
Fenix planted Omega with a Cutter and then got caught with a Neckbreaker from Nick Jackson. Omega hit Laredo Kid with the V-Trigger and then the Tiger Driver 98 for a new fall as it was announced that there are 10-minutes remaining in the match. Omega connected with the One Winged Angel on Laredo Kid for the pinfall victory.
If you are a fan of tag team wrestling, you will love this match. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and it was amazing to watch how great these teams worked together. A tag tournament to crowd the first champs is going to be a major part of the beginning of AEW’s TV show. I simply cannot wait for that.
Kenny Omega Got Revenge On Jon Moxley
Jon Moxley battled Joey Janela in an Unsanctioned Match to close out the show. Moxley got a huge reaction from the crowd as he made his way down to the ring. Moxley hit Janela with a few chops to start things off but Joey quickly fought back and sent Jon to the outside.
Moxley and Janela fought through the crowd and traded chops before making their way back to the ringside area. A fan handed Janela his prosthetic leg and hit Moxley with it. Jon was already busted open and sent Joey into the steel steps. Moxley brought a chair into the ring and Body Slammed Janela on top of it.
Janela tried to flip onto Moxley but Jon got out of the way and Joey crashed onto the chair. Moxley pulled out a chair wrapped in barbed wire from under the ring and brought it inside. Jon set up on Janela and stomped on it as the crowd chanted “you sick f*ck!”.
Moxley took a bow on the apron as Janela got back up. Joey hit Moxley with a Hurricanrana and Jon landed on the barbed wire. Joey then hit Moxley with the chair across the back and went for the cover but Jon kicked out at two. Blood streamed down Moxley’s back as he stumbled to his feet.
Joey set up a table in the corner but wound up hitting a Russian Leg Sweep off the apron and through a table outside the ring. Back in the ring, Moxley lifted Janela up and sprinted across the ring to drive him through the table. Moxley set up a couple tables outside the ring and Janela gave him the finger. Jon called him a mother f*cker punched him the face.
Moxley brought a barbed wire board into the ring and set it up in the corner. Janela lifted Moxley up onto his shoulders and slammed Jon through the barbed wire board. Moxley battled back with a Clothesline but turned around into a Clothesline that sent him to the apron.
Janela brought out a ladder from under the ring and set it up in the ring. Moxley dragged Janela back outside but Janela bounced Jon’s face off the steps several times. Joey set up Moxley on the tables and connected with an Elbow Drop off the ladder for a two count.
Joey set up another barbed wire board from the barricade to the apron and got back into the ring. Moxley hit Janela with a DDT and then delivered a Death Valley Bomb that sent Joey onto the barbed wire. Moxley unloaded a flurry of knees to Janela’s face and brought thumbtacks into the ring.
Moxley took off Joey’s shoes and socks as the crowd once again chanted “you sick f*ck!”. Jon sent Janela flying onto the thumbtacks and then slammed his feet on top of them. Joey flipped Moxley the bird once again and Moxley brought out more thumbtacks. Jon poured them all over the ring and planted Janela with the Paradigm Shift (formerly Dirty Deeds) for the pinfall victory.
The crowd chanted “AEW!” as Moxley hobbled to his feet. After the match, Kenny Omega ran down the entrance ramp and hit Moxley with the V-Trigger. Kenny hit a Piledriver on Moxley onto a table and followed it up with a Double Stomp. Omega hit Moxley with a microphone stand a couple of times and bounced his head off a drum kit.
Omega struck Moxley in the back with a guitar before heading backstage. Omega came back down with a trash can and beat the hell out of Jon with it. Kenny planted Moxley with the Paradigm Shift on the trash can and posed on the entrance ramp to close the show. Moxley was shown laughing on the ramp as Fyter Fest went off the air.
Jon Moxley is a hell of a lot more entertaining than Dean Ambrose. I enjoyed every second of this match and enjoyed the vast majority of this show. What went down in the main event tonight will be far more extreme than what happens at WWE Extreme Rules in a couple of weeks. Moxley and Janela put on a great match to close the show, but Moxley versus Omega has the potential to be special.
The only real criticism I have right now has to do with production. The entrance themes sounded muffled throughout the show and the camera missed a couple of spots again. While WWE’s production value might be superior right now, I’ll take AEW’s style of filming a match all day. I’ve been sick of every WWE match looking like the Bourne Supremacy with zoom-ins at each impact for a long time. If you are an adult that loves professional wrestling but has grown tired of the WWE product, you need to be watching AEW.
Jon Moxley was able to pick up a win in his in-ring debut with AEW (All Elite Wrestling) on Saturday night when he beat Joey Janela in a non-sanctioned match at the Fyter Fest event that aired live on Bleacher Report Live.
Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose from his time in WWE, made his promotional debut at their inaugural pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Moxley will be wrestling former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega in one of the top matches taking place at the AEW All Out pay-per-view event that takes place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL, which has already sold out.
Moxley departed from WWE at the end of April as he decided not to sign a new contract with the company. He finished up with WWE when he wrestled at The Shield: Final Chapter event that aired on the WWE Network from a live event at the Tax Slayer Center in Moline, Illinois.
Moxley has also been working in New Japan Pro Wrestling as he beat Juice Robinson for the IWGP US Championship at the NJPW Best of the Super Jr. Finals event on June 5 at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
It appears that Cody Rhodes has his next feud lined up and it all started during his latest match.
Rhodes went to a draw with Darby Allin in their match at the Fyter Fest event after twenty minutes. This was billed as one of the top matches on Fyter Fest. It was also the highest profile match in Allin’s career up to this point.
Post-match, Shawn Spears, formerly known as Tye Dillinger, hit Rhodes in the head with a steel chair. Rhodes turned his head and didn’t put up his hands. As a result, Rhodes was bleeding pretty good from the back of his head.
Although not confirmed, it appears that the storyline that AEW is telling will lead to an eventual match. This match won’t take place at AEW’s next event, Fight for the Fallen, on July 13, 2019, from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida as Rhodes has a match booked.
He and his brother Dust will take on The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) in a tag team match. AEW could be booked this match at the All Out pay-per-view event in August.
AEW is gearing up for their event, Fyter Fest, as the production staff is already prepared for the show.
The construction on the stage and set is done. A photo of the set up as has surfaced online as well as a quick video from Brandi Rhodes, which you can see here:
Fyter Fest airs live and free on the Bleacher Report Live streaming service tonight at Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The show is co-presented by the Community Effort Orlando (CEO) video game convention.

Christopher Daniels, who is getting ready to face CIMA at All Elite Wrestling’s Fyter Fest event, recently talked about his backstage role as the Head of Talent Relations in AEW and how he managed to transition into a role of managerial capacity.
Speaking to CBS Miami, Daniels described his backstage role at the company. “It’s really just a matter of being a liaison between the talent and the office. Right now my job is a lot of emails, a lot of phone calls. We’re working on visas for international talents and all this stuff for all the regular talent. Trying to find referees, trying to find announcers. Just coordinating all of that stuff. It’s a lot of busy work. But, it’s fun and I’m glad that I was given an opportunity to sort of use my relationships with a lot of these wrestlers in a positive way, to help the company and build from the bottom a good locker room, and a positive feeling between the talent and the office.”
Daniels says that while he hoped he got to work backstage, he never envision it to happen so fast. If the AEW didn’t exist, Daniels would be working in Ring of Honor in a similar capacity.
“If you had asked me two years ago, I probably would have told you that I would be doing something similar to this in Ring of Honor. But you know, this opportunity came around, and when it did, I couldn’t really turn away. Yeah, it’s brand new territory that we’re sort of blazing a trail in, but it’s an opportunity that I couldn’t say no to. And I’m glad. So far the trip has been exciting and amazing and I can’t wait to see how the next couple years go for us.”
AEW will soon be getting its own live weekly TV show. Daniels was asked if he has thought about how he’s going to manage his in-ring and backstage role.
“No. It’s not going to be up to me whether I’m wrestling every week or not. If I’m wrestling every week, so be it. And we’ll see if I can hang or not. We’ll all find out together, but my plan is to wrestle as often as I can, and once the television goes on, it’s all hands on deck. I’m going to continue to go until I feel that I can’t go at a level that is respectable for me.”
