  • Ric Flair: MJF Could Be the Next Randy Orton, He Should Stay with AEW

Ric Flair: MJF Could Be the Next Randy Orton, He Should Stay with AEW

MJF could have a career as impactful as Randy Orton if two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is to be believed.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Wrestling Classic, Flair praised the efforts of MJF and compared the AEW World Champion to WWE’s Apex Predator.

“He’s got a great interview, he’s got a great look, he’s worked hard. I think he has the confidence in real life that he portrays on TV and I think the future is unlimited for him. He’s really good. He could be the next Randy Orton. That’s about as high of praise as I can give him.”

Flair also recalled meeting MJF and sharing his positive take on the young wrestler face-to-face, not that the AEW World Champion needed to hear it.

“He’s pretty confident in himself. He doesn’t need a pat on the back and that’s what makes him a little bit different.”

Flair added that he hopes MJF sticks with AEW for the long run. While the Salt of the Earth has teased leaving for WWE multiple times, it is believed he has already signed a multi-year deal to remain with AEW. Despite this, MJF has continued to insist that he has not re-signed with AEW despite his deal being days away from expiring

    What’s Next?

MJF’s next high-profile match will take place this week on AEW Dynamite. During the New Year’s Smash show, MJF and unlikely ally Samoa Joe will defend MJF & Adam Cole’s ROH World Tag Team Championships against two of the Devil’s minions. MJF and Joe will face off at AEW Worlds End with MJF’s AEW World Championship on the line. Current betting odds from Bet Online state that MJF is the favorite to retain in his native Long Island, New York.

  • Don Callis Expresses Morbid Wish Of Uncertain Execution For Chris Jericho

Don Callis Expresses Morbid Wish Of Uncertain Execution For Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho recently stirred up a bit of controversy online with his tirade against Stephen P. New and non-disclosure agreements. It appears that Don Callis is aware of this, and he has something to say.

The Story Behind Don Callis’ Disturbing Post

Don Callis joined AEW when Kenny Omega won the AEW World Title in December 2020. As a top heel on the AEW payroll, drawing more boos than most of the roster combined, Callis has maintained a feud with Chris Jericho that continues to this day. They have a lot of history with each other, which Callis has helped draw from in their rivalry.

The recent online dispute involving Chris Jericho, CM Punk and Ace Steel’s lawyer Stephen P. New, and the NDA claim has escalated tensions. Chris Jericho had a few unfiltered posts about the subject.

Jericho publicly denied signing a non-disclosure agreement related to the Brawl Out incident, prompting a swift response from Stephen P New. He has since trended as fans discuss this topic with their own agendas attached.

The famous attorney asserted that everyone who was involved in the backstage brawl signed lifelong NDAs. The dispute then took a turn against Jericho when New stated that an NDA in written into the AEW Employee Handbook.

Don Callis’ Morbid Wish For Chris Jericho

Amidst this ongoing drama, Don Callis took to X and expressed his desire for Chris Jericho to face an uncertain execution date. He likened this to death row inmates who are unaware of their execution date.

In certain countries it is reported that death row inmates are not told their execution date. They wake up everyday wondering if that day is their last day on earth. I wish this for Chris Jericho

Don Callis then found another post he wanted to share. That particular post shows a man getting stepped on by an elephant. The caption for that post was quite explicit.

Execution by elephant was an old method of capital punishment in South and Southeast Asia, particularly in India, where Asian elephants were used to crush, dismember or torture captives in public executions.

The animals were trained to kill victims immediately or to torture them slowly over a prolonged period.

Most commonly employed by royalty, the elephants were used to signify both the ruler’s power of life and death over his subjects and his ability to control wild animals.

    https://twitter.com/Morbidful/status/1739334539472720261

Don Callis re-posted that image and caption, along with his own thoughts: “On second thought. I would like to introduce Jericho to an elephant,”

Don Callis is playing up quite a heel on AEW television. He may have some honest feelings of resentment that he is also able to let slip out there with posts like this.

    What’s Next For Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho said that he will pick a new tag team partner to take on Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. The Wizard said that he still has a contract for a match, and he will replace Omega after The Cleaner was taken out due to diverticulitis.

AEW fans may find out who Chris Jericho is replacing Kenny Omega with very soon. AEW Worlds End is going down on December 30th, so he only has a few days to make that call.

  • The Iron Claw’s Ric Flair Actor Panned In Ruthless Fashion

The Iron Claw was released to theaters on December 22nd, and reviews are coming in. While some have taken digs at historical inaccuracies in the film, condensing events, and not focusing on certain elements of the story, the internet has zeroed in on their own target: Aaron Dean Eisenberg.

Ric Flair Actor In The Iron Claw Panned

Aaron Dean Eisenberg plays Ric Flair in The Iron Claw film, and the reviews for his performance were not kind at all. Even Don Callis saw this performance, and he couldn’t find anything good to say at all.

Don Callis ripped on Aaron Dean Eisenberg’s Ric Flair walk, his cadence, and said that Will Ferrell would have done a better job portraying The Nature Boy.

Wow. Brutal. He couldn’t even get the walk right. Literally Will Ferrell doing Ashley Schaefer is far superiort

The Internet Wrestling Community had a field day with this. Many were mocking Aaron Dean Eisenberg’s performance, and they were expectedly savage about it. After all, pro wrestling fans aren’t known to be gentle critics.

The Iron Claw’s Box Office Performance

The Iron Claw didn’t do tremendously in the box office, pulling in around $5 million, which put them under much larger films like Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom ($28,100,000), Wonka ($17,700,000), and Migration ($12,310,000).

The Iron Claw may not have performed in an outstanding way, but it did well for an R-Rated film. In fact, it achieved a notable box office milestone, aligning with its estimated $20 million budget, meaning that the film will hopefully be profitable in time.

  • Eric Bischoff Breaks Down Situation If AEW Loses Warner Bros Discovery Deal

Eric Bischoff Breaks Down Situation If AEW Loses Warner Bros Discovery Deal

AEW’s television deal with Warner Brothers Discovery is set to expire at the end of 2024. The next year will be a very important one for Tony Khan, as he looks forward to what is next for his television shows. Tony Khan is committed, but that brings a very important question about WBD’s interest.

    AEW Possible Television Problem

Tony Khan has commented in the past about how strong AEW’s deal is with Warner Brothers Discovery. Still, the possibility is out there that AEW may not retain that platform for their next set of television deals.

During 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff discussed how Tony Khan is committed to the product and ‘in it for the long haul, but he also questioned what that means if they don’t get renewed by Warner Bros Discovery.

“Let me make it simple. If in fact, they lose WBD, Warner Brothers Discovery, if they’re no longer part of that platform. I’m not sure where they’re going to go. It’s going to be a smaller cable outlet. I don’t see a big cable outlet [picking them]. And this whole thing with Paramount and WBD, that’s such a wildcard. I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of variables that’s gonna throw into the equation. It could be really good for AEW. Whenever that is, the Paramount WBD thing if it actually becomes a reality. Because it’s too soon to know if it’s real or not. But if it becomes a reality, and there’s a merger there, it can either be the absolute stake through the heart of AEW or it can be the golden ticket. We don’t know. But in a case where it’s not the golden ticket and AEW finds itself on the outside looking in and WWE is now the television partner for Paramount WBD or whatever that ends up looking like.”

“I don’t know where Tony’s gonna go. Because the world is getting so small. Vertical integration, you’re looking at probably two or three companies that own everything. Where are you going to go? What cable outlet are you going to go to that isn’t owned by NBC Universal, Paramount. Where are you going and what do you have to sell? Not much. Here’s what you get to sell, ‘Hey, we were on Turner for five years and prime time. Over the last five years, our audience has deteriorated. But we want to be on your network.’ I don’t want to sell that. I wouldn’t want to be the person assigned to try to sell that story.”

Nothing is set in stone yet, and this is all hypothetical at this point. Still, it is enough to get people talking, because there are some big rumors about the upcoming television landscape, and where AEW falls into that.

Warner Brothers Discovery Interested In WWE RAW

There is reported interest in WWE from Warner Bros Discovery. WWE has not found a new home for RAW yet, and that new deal will go into effect in October 2024.

The recent rumor is that CM Punk’s WWE return brought WBD interest. That could present another obstacle for Tony Khan if WWE is able to secure Warner Brothers Discovery as the new home of RAW.

  • The Iron Claw Opening Box Office Number Did Not Reach Expectations

The Iron Claw Opening Box Office Number Did Not Reach Expectations

The Iron Claw finally arrived after decades of pro wrestling fans proclaiming that the Von Erich Family’s incredible story deserves their own feature film. Now, we are getting the numbers after the film’s first few days in the theaters.

The Iron Claw Opening Weekend Box Office

The Iron Claw dropped on December 22nd, but their opening weekend box office did not deliver as many expected. The R-Rated film also received a ton of promotion, with trailers playing during commercial breaks for weeks.

According to Dave Meltzer’s update on FW Daily Update, The Iron Claw is estimated to bring in $5.06 million in 2,774 theaters in week one. That number equals out to around $1,824 per screen.

    About The Iron Claw

The Iron Claw tells the story of the Von Erich brothers in the fiercely competitive world of professional wrestling during the early 1980s. Amidst moments of tragedy and triumph, the brothers strive for larger-than-life recognition on the grand stage of pro wrestling. All the while, they must navigate the influence of their authoritative father and coach.

MJF was an executive producer on The Iron Claw, and he also played Lance Von Erich in the film. He didn’t have a ton of screen time, which some fans commented on as well.

    The Iron Claw’s Competition

According to The Numbers, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom brought in $28,100,000 and Wonka earned $17,700,000. Also, Migration brought in younger fans as well, with $12,310,000.

The Iron Claw isn’t finished making money yet. There is still streaming and DVD release market after its theatrical run. Still, it didn’t pull in a ton of money in its opening weekend.

  • Chris Jericho: I’m Not Bound by AEW Brawl NDA, Punk’s Lawyer is A Mark Who Should Shut Up

Chris Jericho could be prepared to spill the beans regarding what happened backstage at AEW All Out 2022, provided he is allowed.

At the September 2022 pay-per-view, CM Punk captured his second AEW World Championship, besting Jon Moxley in the show’s main event. After the show, Punk would shoot on several members of the AEW roster. Backstage, Punk, Ace Steel, The Elite, and others would participate in a backstage fight that resulted in all parties being suspended.

    Chris Jericho and the NDA

This week, it was reported that all those involved in the backstage fight at All Out 2022 were dealing with a non-disclosure agreement. The only exception, according to these reports, is Lucy Guy, the wife of Ace Steel, who was present at the backstage altercation. On Twitter, Chris Jericho claimed that he is not bound by an NDA, implying that he could soon speak about the backstage fight.

This comment caught the attention of Steve New, the legal representative of both Ace Steel and CM Punk. New claimed that Jericho will have some sort of NDA in his employee handbook unless he has a very special agreement with AEW. New also offered to comb over Jericho’s contract.

Jericho didn’t take too kindly to New’s comments. In a fiery response, Jericho claimed New was trying to be a bully and added that New “should shut your mark ass up.”

    Chris Jericho & the Brawl

Chris Jericho was one of the most vocal critics of CM Punk following what transpired last year in Chicago. Jericho called CM Punk a “cancer” following All Out, a comment that would be echoed by WWE’s Seth Rollins months later. Jericho would reportedly be part of a team that tried to prevent Punk’s return but the Chicago-Made wrestler was brought back in June of this year. After Punk’s firing from AEW in September, Jericho called Punk’s departure regrettable

  • Toni Storm’s ‘Timeless’ Character Work On Full Display In Hilarious Christmas Q&A

Toni Storm is having an incredible run in pro wrestling right now with her current angle. Her Timeless gimmick may be the best current character work from any female in the entire pro wrestling landscape. She doesn’t stop delivering top quality entertainment, and that includes viral videos.

    Toni Storm’s NSFW Holiday Traditions

AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm recently participated in a holiday interview where she shared insights into various aspects of the festive season, including traditions, meals, presents, movies, and more.

During the interview, Toni Storm opened up about her favorite holiday traditions. She made reference to having a key party in the interview. Then she was asked about her favorite meal.

Toni Storm said that she “loves a bit of spotted dick.” Then Storm admitted that was the reason why they had to cancel their key parties. This topic is a bit NSFW, so we will let you Google search what a key party is, but spotted dick is a well-known British dish.

Toni Storm was also asked about her favorite Christmas gift, and she had a good answer. She really liked the binoculars she received one year, because they helped her in some voyeuristic endeavors.

Then Toni Storm was asked, “What is the best way to spread Holiday cheer?” She said: “Eagle.” Yep, she really did.

    What’s Next For Toni Storm

Toni Storm will defend her AEW Women’s World Title against Riho at Worlds End on January 30th. She has been hyping that match by flaunting her Timeless character on-screen.

Mariah May, who recently debuted for AEW after a good run in STARDOM, is also by Toni Storm’s side. May will likely provide even more insurance for Storm, as the AEW newcomer fights for the Timeless One’s attention.

Toni Storm is underestimating Riho right now, but Storm has the potential to carry that title for a long time, or at least until Mariah May turns on her down the line.

  • Matt Jackson Confirms Wife Dana Massie’s AEW Departure With Heartfelt Post

Matt Jackson Confirms Wife Dana Massie’s AEW Departure With Heartfelt Post

Dana Massie, who is also the wife of AEW EVP Matt Jackson, played a key part in overseeing merchandise, managing The Young Bucks’ empire before AEW. She made a transition to AEW, and had a big hand in the company’s early stages, as she was there from the very beginning. She is moving on, and Matt Jackson has confirmed it.

Matt Jackson Speaks On His Wife, Dana Massie, Leaving AEW

Matt Jackson posted to his Instagram stories to address his wife’s AEW departure. He included a photo of Dana Massie backstage at an AEW event, with a sleeping child on her shoulder, while doing her duties as Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer and mother at the same time.

In the caption with the post, Matt Jackson also expressed his gratitude for Dana Massie’s contributions. He then thanked her for being a huge part of AEW’s early foundation, while acknowledging the challenges of her sometimes thankless job.

“End of an era. You were in the first conversations, when this was all only an idea. One of the main builders of our empire. Always positive in at times was a thankless job. Glad you got to do it all, and leave on your terms, by your own choice. It’s been fun working with you. See you at dinner.”

AEW saw some significant departures in 2023, with Dana Massie being the latest to disclose their exit. Her role as Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer was very important to AEW since the beginning. She will be missed on the road, but Matt Jackson will still see his wife at home.

Dana Massie left AEW on her own terms, and it doesn’t appear that there is any ill-will there. Whoever gets Dana Massie’s responsibilities next will have big shoes to fill.

AEW Had Some Key Departures in 2023

With Dana Massie’s departure from AEW, and the upcoming exit of Vice President of Live Events and Touring Rafael Morffi, AEW faces changes in key positions. QT Marshall is already gone from the company, and he held a role as Tony Khan’s right-hand man for a time as well.

  • Jon Moxley Not Happy About IWGP United States Title’s Destruction

AEW afforded Jon Moxley the opportunity to pursue his interests in other pro wrestling companies, and he has made the most of that. During his time on AEW television, Moxley made his way to the ring on many occasions with the IWGP United States Title over his shoulder. It was his title to hold throughout the pandemic, but it’s nobody’s title anymore.

Jon Moxley won the IWGP United States Title from Lance Archer at Wrestle Kingdom 14 on January 4, 2020. Then the pandemic struck, and he held that title until July 21, 2021, when he dropped the title back to Archer at AEW Fyter Fest in a Texas Death Match.

Moxley actually held the IWGP United States Title prior to that. On June 5th, 2019, Jon Moxley won the belt at the Best of the Super Juniors 26, but he dropped it a short time later after failing to make the trip back to defend it due to Typhoon Hagibis.

    IWGP United States Title Destruction

The IWGP United States Title was destroyed by David Finlay in a shocking move on December 11th, 2023. In its place, the company will have the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. Still, to see the US Title go in such a way was hard to watch.

While speaking to NJPW’s website, Jon Moxley opened up a bit about the IWGP United States Title’s abrupt deactivation. He understands the business, but he did put everything he could into representing that title while he held it.

There are a lot of belts in this business. A lot of championships, and a lot of guys walking round with all kinds of gold and silver on their shoulder or their waist. But a championship is what you make it. It’s how you represent yourself. The championship you wear is a representation of who you are. Your guts, your heart, your fighting spirit, and where you draw the line in the sand between you and your opponent. It says that you will give no quarter and no-one will take it from you.

I put a lot of heart and soul and hard work into that IWGP United States Championship, and I do not take kindly to David Finlay smashing it with a big stupid Mario Kart hammer.

Belts hold up your pants, but championships are a much different thing. The gall it took for Finlay to do what he did, I kind of admire it, but it really does piss me off.

What Happened To The IWGP United States Title

David Finlay destroyed the IWGP U.S. and U.K. titles at Power Struggle. NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi later announced during the Wrestle Kingdom 18 press conference that a replacement title would be introduced.

The jury is still out on how the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship will be represented. Jon Moxley still might have a bone to pick with the Bullet Club leader over how he treated the US Title.

  • Danhausen Ruins Christmas In Hilarious Video

It’s Christmastime, and that calls for a new roll-out of Holiday specials. AEW fans are in luck, because a unique episode of Hey-EW dropped on Christmas Eve for their viewing pleasure.

RJ City had no idea who he would be interviewing for his Christmas special. Little did he think that Renee Paquette would lead him straight into a one-on-one session with Danhausen. This isn’t the first time AEW put out a special Christmas video with RJ City and Danhausen, but RJ City wasn’t expecting a repeat.

    Danhausen Ruins Christmas … Again!

The Very Nice, Very Evil AEW star was excited about the Holidays. While dressed as Santa Claus, he proclaimed “Happy Christopher Massachusetts!”

During the segment, Danhausen and RJ City read an AEW parody version of “The Night Before Christmas.” Those lines were switched up a bit to give it a little AEW flair, and you can read a portion of the poem below.

Twas the day before Christmas and all through the show, all the wrestlers were angry like Ruby Soho.

The Hangman was hung in tight denim pants, as Eddie Kingston did one of his loud New York rants.

The Ass Boys were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of Prince Na Na swerved in their heads.

Renee Paquette made a large pronouncement, as Tony Khan himself announced he was making an announcement.

The Night Before Christmas parody continued, and it’s worth a watch. They also took a bit of time between each line to comment on the poem.

Danhausen and RJ City don’t really hate each other, but they certainly work well on camera while keeping up that act. If anything, this will give AEW fans another Holiday program to watch this year as they prepare for Santa Claus to arrive.

We’d like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from everyone at SE Scoops. May your day be as jolly as Danhausen in this latest video drop. You can also watch Danhausen ruin last year’s Christmas below.

  • Thunder Rosa used famous lowrider car for her big AEW return at Collision

Thunder Rosa returned to in-ring action on the December 23rd episode of AEW Collision. She also did so with a memorable entrance, as she rode on a low rider. It turns out that car had a bit of history behind it as well.

The tag team match, where Skye Blue and Julia Hart took on Thunder Rosa and Abadon, provided a preview of Julia Hart’s TBS Championship defense against Abadon. Of course, in San Antonio, the attention was on Thunder Rosa.

    Thunder Rosa’s Special Entrance

Thunder Rosa’s low rider entrance had a unique touch, as many fans called out the fact that it looked like the car featured in the 1997 film “Selena.” Many fans will remember that car if they’ve seen the Jennifer Lopez movie.

In the “Selena” movie, their  tour bus breaks down, but they soon find help. A low rider shows up, and they can’t believe that they get to help Selena out of a jam. Many fans know that low rider by the unique paint job, and that is exactly what showed up on AEW Collision this week.

Although it is unconfirmed whether it is the exact car from the film, the ‘Selena car’ is known to make appearances around the San Antonio area. This adds credibility to the possibility that Thunder Rosa used either the actual car for her entrance. Regardless.

    Thunder Rosa’s AEW Hiatus

In the end, Thunder Rosa’ team secured the win on AEW Collision, marking a successful comeback to the ring. Thunder Rosa hadn’t wrestled since August 10th, 2022 prior to that. Needless to say, fans in San Antonio had a night to remember.

Thunder Rosa was still working for AEW during her time away from the ring. She provided Spanish language commentary for the show. It’s unknown if she will continue that gig after her in-ring return.

  • Adam Copeland vs Christian and More Announced For AEW Worlds End

AEW Worlds End is just a week away and it has been made official that Adam Copeland will face Christian Cage at the pay-per-view. Two more title matches have been announced as well.

Following a surprising defeat in the headlining match in Montreal, Quebec, on AEW Dynamite, Adam Copeland issued a challenge to Christian Cage to a no-disqualification match. On last night’s AEW Collision which emanated from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, Christian Cage gave his response.

Cage also accepted Copeland’s challenge and the match will see Cage put his TNT Championship on the line. During the show, Shayna Wayne also explained why she helped Cage defeat Copeland.

Cage said he would accept Copeland’s challenge to a fight because according to him, it’s not a challenge as he’s already beaten him.

Meanwhile, Hook also accepted a challenge from Wheeler Yuta, and the match will take place for the FTW Championship in an FTW Rules match at Worlds End. Hook, while accepting the challenge stated that he would do it under his rules.

It was also confirmed that TBS Champion Julia Hart will defend her title against Abadon, as the two have ignited a feud in recent weeks. On Saturday’s Collision, Thunder Rosa and Abadon teamed up and faced Julia Hart and Skye Blue in a winning effort.

The fully updated card for AEW Worlds End is as follows:

    • AEW World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Samoa Joe
    • AEW Women’s World Championship: Toni Storm (c) vs. Riho
    • AEW TNT Championship No Disqualification Match: Christian Cage (c) vs. Adam Copeland
    • Triple Crown Championship (AEW Continental Classic, ROH World & NJPW STRONG Titles): Gold League Winner vs. Blue League Winner
    • TBS Championship: Julia Hart (c) vs. Abadon
    • FTW Championship: HOOK (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta

AEW Worlds End is set to take place on Saturday, December 30 at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island.

  • Eddie Kingston Reflects On Competing In His First G1 Climax

Wrestling fans were surprised when New Japan Pro Wrestling announced on June 4 that Eddie Kingston would compete in the G1 Climax 33. It was Kingston’s first time participating in the tournament and a goal he wanted to accomplish for his career. Although he didn’t make it to the semi-finals, Kingston has shared that the experience was something he’ll never forget.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated Justin Barrasso, Kingston reflected on competing in his first G1 Climax. He also admitted to being nervous to the point of throwing up before his first match against Shingo Takagi at NJPW G1 Climax in July.

“I threw up before my match against Shingo,” said Kingston. He explained, “I always get nervous before matches, but I’ve never been that nervous. So I got to the ring, talked to myself, and said, ‘Yup, I’m in the G1.’ That helped. Then Shingo hit me really hard with the first forearm, and I knew I was ready.”

The NJPW Strong Champion would win four matches to earn eight points in the G1 Climax 33. Kingston was eliminated from the tournament after losing to David Finlay.

Despite not winning, Kingston enjoyed traveling to Japan and competing in famous venues like the Sumo Hall.

“Walking through the curtain at Sumo Hall, and I’ve seen so many great matches there, like the first G1 Finals between Keiji Mutoh and Masahiro Chono, I couldn’t believe I was there,” said Kingston. He added, “There’s a picture of me with my mouth open, looking around in astonishment, at Sumo Hall.”

Eddie Kingston On NJPW Locker Room Environment

In the interview, Kingston also spoke highly of the NJPW locker room. The NJPW Strong Champion expressed that he had a great time being around roster members and went as far as to say that it was the best locker room he’d been a part of.

“I had a lot of good guys around me in Japan. The New Japan locker room is the best locker room I’ve ever been part of,” said Kingston. He continued, “They showed me around, and I tried everything. I don’t like fish, but I did in Japan. I loved it there.”

It’s unclear when Kingston will return to Japan for NJPW. He’s competing in AEW’s Continental Classic, putting the NJPW Strong and Ring Of Honor World Championship on the line for the tournament winner. Kingston is currently scheduled to face Bryan Danielson in the Blue League finals at Wednesday’s Dynamite.

If he can make it through as NJPW Strong Champion, he could have a match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4, 2024. An opportunity to potentially return to Japan and compete in the Tokyo Dome would be another career highlight for the “Mad King.”

  • Thunder Rosa Makes Triumphant In-Ring Return On AEW Collision

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa returned to in-ring action on the latest edition of AEW Collision.

Rosa had been on the sidelines since August last year after sustaining a back injury that prevented her from defending the AEW Women’s World Championship. Toni Storm went on to become interim AEW Women’s World Champion as Rosa relinquished the title in November. Storm was later declared the AEW Women’s World Champion.

‘La Mera Mera’ surprised the fans when she returned last week after being sidelined for over 16 months. Rosa had interfered in the brawl between Julia Hart and Abadon and later her first match following her return was officially announced.

Thunder Rosa wins on her return

On last night’s AEW Collision, Rosa joined forces with Abadon to face the TBS Women’s Champion, Julia Hart, and her new ally, Skye Blue. The exciting tag team match saw some great spots and fans went wild when Rosa got tagged in.

It was the former Women’s World Champion who eventually scored the pinfall to give her side the victory. This marked her first win after her last match back in August 2022.

In the past, Rosa’s injury sparked some controversy when she faced accusations of exaggeration. There were reports of backstage tensions with her female colleagues as well. However, Rosa has been clarified several times that her injury was legitimate.

Fans had been eagerly waiting for the return of La Mera Mera to the ring. Now that she has returned she would certainly try to go up the ladders and reclaim the AEW Women’s World Championship, the title she never lost in the first place.

  • Latest On the Departure of AEW’s VP Rafael Morffi: New Job, When He Told AEW of Exit

Latest On the Departure of AEW’s VP Rafael Morffi: New Job, When He Told AEW of Exit

More has come to light about the impending departure of Rafael Morffi, who is stepping down as AEW’s VP of Live Events/Touring.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Morffi will be leaving AEW after next week’s Worlds End pay-per-view. Morffi isn’t the only notable name set to leave, as AEW’s Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer Dana Massie is set to finish up with the company very soon.

    The Exit of Rafael Morffi

Morffi held the position of Vice President of Live Events/Touring since the formation of AEW and had many duties to his name. He was responsible for setting up the live event tours, booking buildings, local marketing and other logistical responsibilities and other roles.

Morffi informed AEW during their recent Montreal events that he would be finishing up with the company, PW Insider reports. Morffi has already accepted a senior executive position with the Barclays Center in New York City (where Morfi resides with his family) and will be splitting his duties between booking sports and entertainment events at the arena as well as working for the Brooklyn Nets’ owners. Being closer to his family and not being on the road constantly was one of the big reasons for Morffi’s decision to leave. The gist of things is that the Barclays Center gave him such a great offer he simply couldn’t say no.

Morffi is said to be well-liked within AEW and will be missed by those in the company. Morffi was the individual who brought the idea of hosting ‘Grand Slam’ events in Arthur Ashe Stadium to AEW.

    Rafael Morffi in Wrestling

Before joining AEW, Morffi worked with TNA Wrestling and House of Hardcore via his own ‘Signature Move Productions’ company. He also spent years working for WWE in regards to the promotion’s live events.

  • Watch: What Happened With Bryan Danielson After AEW Collision Went Off Air

Eddie Kingston will be facing Bryan Danielson in the finals of the Blue League of the AEW Continental Classic, and the build-up for the match is already off to an intense start.

The main event of Collision this week featured The Mad King taking on Andrade El Idolo in the final league stage match of the tournament. Kingston won this match after hitting Andrade with Northern Lights Drive.

After the match, Bryan Danielson came out to confront the winner and the show ended with both the AEW stars staring at each other.

This wasn’t the end of the night, however, and AEW later posted an extended video of the confrontation between the two. In the video as seen below, Eddie Kingston cuts a passionate promo, declaring himself as the King of The Underground.

    AEW’s First Continental Classic Champion

Bryan Danielson faced Claudio Castagnoli in his last league match in the opening of tonight’s show. Bryan ended the league stage on the top with ten points after this bout ended in a draw.

The American Dragon will now face Kingston in the finals of the Blue League at the December 27 episode of AEW Dynamite. That show will also feature the finals of the Gold League between Swerve Strickland, Jay White and Jon Moxley.

The survivors of both these matches will face each other at the upcoming World’s End PPV on December 30. The winner will then be declared the first-ever AEW Continental Classic champion.

  • Katsuyori Shibata is All-Elite: Japanese Star Signs with “Wonderful” AEW

Fans can expect to see plenty more of Katsuyori Shibata in All Elite Wrestling now that the Japanese wrestler is officially All-Elite.

On Twitter, AEW President Tony Khan broke the news of Shibata’s signing and described Shibata as one of the greatest fighters and champions ever in wrestling. Khan also shared a letter from Shibata himself in which the new signing spoke about joining the “wonderful” AEW.

    Dear Tony Khan,

Today, I have signed the contract with AEW under a permission from New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

In the past year, I worked for AEW/ROH and I learned how wonderful the AEW is.

This is the best environment where wrestlers can focus only on fighting in the ring.

And the love for professional wrestling is overflowing from Tony and all the people who work for him.

I want to make AEW’s ring the last end point of The Wrestler’s career. I dedicate my wrestler life to Tony Khan, and AEW

    Thank you

    Katsuyori Shibata

    Katsuyori Shibata in AEW

Shibata first appeared for AEW at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door in June 2022, saving Orange Cassidy from a beatdown by the United Empire. Shibata would save Cassidy again later that year. In November, Shibata challenged Cassidy for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship but was unsuccessful

In March of this year, Shibata made his ROH debut and defeated Wheeler Yuta at Supercard of Honor to win the ROH Pure Championship. Shibata retained the title on the June 2, 2023, edition of Rampage against Lee Moriarty. He dropped the title back to Yuta last month on AEW Rampage.

  • Chris Jericho Will Find New Partner For AEW Worlds End In Kenny Omega’s Absence

Chris Jericho Will Find New Partner For AEW Worlds End In Kenny Omega’s Absence

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega were all set to challenge Big Bill and Ricky Starks for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Worlds End on December 30th, then Kenny Omega’s health took a turn for the worse. Despite losing his Golden Jets partner, Chris Jericho will continue without The Cleaner.

AEW Tag Team Title Match At Worlds End

Chris Jericho is determined to win the AEW Tag Team Titles at AEW Worlds End, even in the absence of Kenny Omega due to diverticulitis. He made that very clear on AEW Collision this week.

During the December 23rd episode of AEW Collision, Ricky Starks and Big Bill announced their intention to take the night off and celebrate. They suggested that the scheduled tag team match at Worlds End was canceled since Kenny Omega is not able to compete.

However, Chris Jericho stepped in, and he revealed something very important. He still possesses a contract entitling him to an AEW Tag Team Title match. Le Champion is not fazed by Kenny Omega’s absence, because the show must go on.

Chris Jericho then declared his intention to find a partner and challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the titles at AEW Worlds End. He didn’t reveal who his partner will be at the pay-per-view.

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega secured their opportunity for the AEW Tag Team Titles by defeating The Young Bucks at AEW Full Gear. The Young Bucks used that loss to turn heel as well.

    AEW Worlds End 2023 Card:

MJF vs Samoa Joe – AEW World Title

Big Bill & Ricky Starks vs TBD & Chris Jericho – AEW World Tag Team Titles

  • Matt Jackson’s Wife, Dana Massie, Leaving Position In AEW

Matt Jackson’s Wife, Dana Massie, Leaving Position In AEW

AEW is gearing up for 2024, along with the rest of us. Everything changes, but it seems that Tony Khan’s company is seeing a few big departures to close out the year.

    AEW’s Recent Departures

Rafael Morffi, AEW’s Vice President of Live Events/Touring, is believed to be wrapping things up with the company. Reports broke today that he will be leaving after Worlds End for a job with the Barclays Center. Now, we have another departure to report.

Sean Ross Sapp took to X, where he broke some more AEW news. Matt Jackson’s wife, Dana Massie, who has been with the company since they opened their doors, will be leaving her position over the company’s advertising division.

Fightful Select and @TheRajGiri have learned that as things stand, Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer Dana Massie is set to finish up with AEW.

She’s been there since the start of AEW. She’s the wife of Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks.

    Breaking Down These AEW Departures

This is a bit of a surprise, because Dana Massie had a big hand in many AEW promotional and merchandise efforts. She was given that spot in AEW after spearheading The Young Bucks’ merchandise empire, one that saw them arrive in Hot Topic as indie stars.

QT Marshall also left the company, which will be official in 2024, but he is no longer attending AEW events. Marshall, on top of being an in-ring competitor, was AEW President Tony Khan’s right-hand man for a time.

AEW is making some changes internally, with Kevin Sullivan’s sudden release, and now QT Marshall, Dana Massie and Rafael Morffi leaving the company. There may be a lot more to unpack when the dust settles on this story.

  • Interesting Name Spotted Backstage At 12/23 AEW Collision

Interesting Name Spotted Backstage At 12/23 AEW Collision

AEW is gearing up for a loaded episode of Collision this week. Their Holiday Bash in San Antonio also brought a familiar face to the show, who is under contract with another company.

Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net noted that Chase Owens is backstage at AEW Collision in San Antonio. He is not expected to appear on the show for AEW or ROH, but he is backstage.

Chase Owens currently lives in San Antonio, and is said to be visiting friends who work for AEW. Owens is not expected to participate on screen in any capacity on tonight’s Collision, or the ROH tapings.

Chase Owens is home for the holidays right now, but he won’t stay in Texas for long. The Crown Jewel of the Bullet Club is set to appear at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 18 and New Year’s Dash.

It’s good to know Chase Owens was able to get backstage and visit. Tonight’s episode of AEW Collision will be special in San Antonio, because it will see the return of Thunder Rosa to in-ring action, and her home city is bound to give her a rousing ovation.

You can check out the card for the December 23rd episode of AEW Collision below. Even if Chase Owens doesn’t show up during the broadcast, it will still be a packed two-hour broadcast.

  • WWE Tryout Gave Mariah May Something Better Than A Contract

WWE Tryout Gave Mariah May Something Better Than A Contract

During her WWE tryout in 2019 at a WWE Performance Center in Enfield, England, AEW wrestler Mariah May received valuable advice from a former WWE trainer.

Appearing on the Talk Is Jericho podcast (via Wrestling Inc.), May revealed that she had three matches and was called for a tryout, initially assuming it was for WWE but realizing it was for NXT UK. “Whereas WWE, I would have signed to that early on because there’s a PC and you’re going to train and stuff,” May said.

During the tryout, Sarah Stock advised her to travel more for experience. Despite WWE’s prior knowledge of her, NXT UK didn’t have a full-time training center, prompting them to recommend gaining more experience through travel due to less frequent training sessions.

“They wanted me to get more experience because with NXT UK, they didn’t have a full-time PC,” she explained. “It was like once every two months or something.”

Following the tryout, Mariah May went on a journey through the independent circuit in both the United States and the United Kingdom. She made appearances in promotions like Revolution Pro Wrestling, Ultimate Pro Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling, and several others.

However, her big breakthrough came when she debuted in Japan at World Wonder Ring Stardom in 2022. In this stint, she appeared alongside renowned figures like Mina Shirakawa and Unagi Sayaka. She also played a pivotal role in establishing the Club Venus stable, joining forces with Shirakawa and Xia Brookside. During her tenure, she won the Goddess of Stardom titles alongside Shirakawa. Her association with Stardom ended in September 2023.

Following her Stardom stint, May transitioned to the United States and joined AEW. Her signing was officially revealed on the November 8, 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite. In a segment backstage with RJ City, she was introduced as a passionate fan of Toni Storm, expressing her eagerness to meet her idol. She cited this as her primary motivation for joining AEW.

  • Dean Malenko update following recent brain surgery for Parkinson’s

Dean Malenko update following recent brain surgery for Parkinson’s

It was reported earlier that Dean Malenko underwent brain surgery for an issue related to Parkinson’s disease.

During his podcast, Grilling JR, Jim Ross revealed this past week that Malenko underwent the surgery and was present at AEW TV tapings.

“I saw Dean Malenko. Malenko’s had some health issues. I saw him there. And he had brain surgery and it stops his shakes form the Parkinson’s and it has, he’s had the surgery. He’s such a sweetheart of a guy,” Ross said.

There was uncertainty regarding the timeline of Malenko’s return after the surgery, leading to various assumptions. However, Mike Johnson of PWInsider clarified that Malenko had undergone surgery towards the end of September.

Given that the surgery took place several months ago, it is reasonable to assume that Malenko has likely recovered by now. He resumed working for AEW at the start of November and wasn’t in the process of recuperating from the surgery since it had taken place months earlier.

Dean Malenko, a wrestling veteran with an extensive career, was highlighted by Ross for his contributions to AEW. Malenko holds a significant behind-the-scenes role wherein he coaches and mentors young performers on the AEW roster, ensuring they deliver strong performances inside the ring.

Ross said that Malenko is an unsung hero, describing him as a valuable asset due to his guidance and coaching within the company. According to Ross, Malenko encourages talents to share their ideas and then assists and coaches them. He praised Malenko’s adeptness in teaching and coaching wrestlers within AEW.

We extend our best wishes to Dean Malenko, hoping for his continued recovery in his battle with Parkinson’s disease.

  • CM Punk & The Elite Have Lifetime NDAs Prohibiting Them From Speaking About Brawl Out

CM Punk & The Elite Have Lifetime NDAs Prohibiting Them From Speaking About Brawl Out

CM Punk and The Elite had it out backstage at AEW All Out last year, but nobody’s allowed to talk about it. The lengths of that non-disclosure agreement stretch pretty far, ensuring that nobody involved in that altercation can divulge anything.

    What Happened During Brawl Out

CM Punk went off during the press conference after All Out 2022. He was bloody, hungry, cursing, injured, AEW World Champion and irritated. All of those things culminated in a rant against Colt Cabana and the Young Bucks. When Punk was finished at the media scrum, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks went to visit Punk’s locker room with AEW’s legal rep to discuss this situation.

CM Punk allegedly threw the first punch, but details are sketchy from that point on. We know that Matt Jackson had a chair thrown at him, and CM Punk’s dog, Larry, may have lost a tooth. In the end, it was incredibly violent, messy, and blew up in no time.

Ace Steel was also involved in the Brawl Out ordeal, and he was fired from AEW due to his involvement. He was accused of biting Kenny Omega during the brawl. Despite being rehired and working remotely after CM Punk’s return, he was let go again shortly after Punk’s firing from AEW.

CM Punk & Ace Steel Lawyer Up

The legal representation for both CM Punk and Ace Steel during that situation was provided by Stephen P. New, who has notable pro wrestling connections via Jim Cornette. It appears that they had a good working relationship, despite the tricky situation.

During an appearance on Wrestling With Rip Rogers, Stephen P. New discussed Brawl Out and the associated NDAs. In response to a question about the lifetime nature of NDAs, the attorney straightforwardly affirmed that they indeed last for life.

Stephen P New simply stated, “yes” when asked if there are lifetime NDAs in place, meaning that nobody can ever speak about that night.

CM Punk did make a crack about how it’s 2023, so you can’t just go around hitting people backstage. That was likely a reference to how he punched Jungle Boy, and not The Elite. That was Brawl In, not Brawl Out.

Legally, The Second City Savior must stay away from any talk about his brawl with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega in Chicago. Hopefully, they can keep it that way to avoid another legal situation.

  • Ric Flair Leaping Into Cryptocurrency With ‘WoooooCoin’ Endorsement

The information superhighway took a sharp detour into Web3 for many people. Web3 investments made millionaires out of some, but broke degens out of others. Now, Ric Flair is throwing his hat into the game with a new altcoin.

    Ric Flair’s New Cryptocurrency

Ric Flair is now plugging a new altcoin called WoooooCoin. He made sure to specify that there are 5 Os in the Wooooo. The Nature Boy did so while dropping a highly energetic video to plug this coin’s drop.

While rocking a sun tan and a bandage on his nose for some reason, Ric Flair cut a promo about his new altcoin. He made is clear that the whitelist is now open for what he is calling “the hottest” cryptocurrency of 2023.

Wooooo! Coin… There Is Only One True Wooooo! Get In On The Hottest Crypto Project Of The Year! Whitelist Is Now Open!

It’s important to remember which altcoin this is, if you decide to throw any money at this coin, because there is already a WoooooCoin on the market with Ric Flair’s likeness. This new coin is apparently a different coin, as altcoins are known to rip off popular memes without any endorsement or affiliation.

    What Are Web3 Altcoins?

Web3 altcoins, sometimes called “sh*tcoins,” are digital assets built on a decentralized blockchain technology. In the realm of Web3, altcoins serve as a tradable commodity outside traditional cryptocurrencies like BitCoin and Ethereum.

Unlike traditional cryptocurrencies, altcoins are specifically designed to align with the principles of a decentralized web, removing intermediaries, and creating transparency within communities. As the Web3 space evolves, these altcoins have obviously attracted a plethora of celebrity and influencer endorsements along the way, all with varying degrees of failure attached.

Some altcoins go beyond the initial pump and dump, because they are backed by strong communities, like $Doge, $Pepe, $Dork, and others, but the jury is still out regarding how much of a liquidity pool WoooooCoin will be able to pull in.

Ric Flair is also plugging his Wooooo Energy drink, which is a big part of his AEW contract. He will also likely continue appearing for Tony Khan, when ever they can find a way to use him.

  • AEW Staying Away From Giulia Amid WWE Interest

AEW Staying Away From Giulia Amid WWE Interest

AEW already has a diverse roster, featuring talented wrestlers from around the globe, including Japan. As much as Tony Khan might like to add even more depth to his roster, it appears that they are staying away from Giulia.

Notable names like Hikaru Shida and Riho contribute to the international flair on the AEW roster. Despite this fact, AEW has not actively pursued Giulia, as rumors of WWE’s interest intensifies.

    AEW Not Going After Giulia

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW has not engaged in serious discussions or attempts to sign Giulia. At this point, she has two options between staying in Japan or joining WWE.

”Nothing new on Giulia past that AEW has never made a serious play for her, and she’s had no conversations with AEW and is not considering them. It’s WWE or staying in Japan”

Giulia was rumored to have visited the WWE Performance Center recently, but there is some doubt about whether that actually happened. WWE is interested in Giulia, as she would be a good addition to their roster of impressive international talent.

Who Is Giulia & Why Is WWE Interested?

Giulia was born in London, England, to an Italian father and a Japanese mother, who was studying in the city. A year after Giulia’s birth, the family returned to Japan, and she grew up in Chiba Prefecture. Prior to pursuing her career as a professional wrestler with Ice Ribbon in 2017, she actually worked as a manager in an Italian restaurant. Pro wrestling has fit her much better in life.

Giulia started gaining attention in 2017 when she entered the Ice Ribbon promotion, and she later joined STARDOM in 2019, where she still is. Her contract with STARDOM is a big question right now, and WWE could have a very attractive offer for her.

Giulia has achieved numerous accolades and championships in her career. In Ice Ribbon, she secured the International Ribbon Tag Team Championship once, teaming up with Tequila Saya. Giulia’s exceptional performance earned her the Rookie Award in 2018, which she shared with Tequila Saya, as recognized by the Ice Ribbon Year-End Awards.

Transitioning to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Giulia clinched the Strong Women’s Championship, adding another accomplishment to her list. Her journey with World Wonder Ring Stardom has been equally impressive, where she has triumphed in various championships. Giulia has held the Artist of Stardom Championship twice, partnering with Maika and Syuri in one reign and Mai Sakurai and Thekla in the other. She also secured the Goddess of Stardom Championship alongside Syuri and claimed solo titles, including the Wonder of Stardom Championship and the esteemed World of Stardom Championship.

We will keep a close eye on Giulia, because she has an amazing upside for her. At 29-years-old, Giulia is set to make one of the most important decisions of her career.
