  • Chris Jericho Responds to Fan’s Suggestion of Taking a Break

AEW star Chris Jericho recently responded to a fan who suggested him to take time off in order to give the fans a chance to miss him.

Jericho’s tag-team partner Kenny Omega is currently out of action for an indefinite period as he was diagnosed with diverticulitis following his match with Ethan Page. ‘The Cleaner’ was admitted to hospital immediately after the match and shared an update on his health condition.

It’s worth noting that Omega and Chris Jericho were set to compete in a tag team match at the AEW’s final pay-per-view of the year, AEW Worlds End. However, that match has been called off at the moment.

As Omega is sidelined, a fan took to Twitter and opined that ‘The Demo God’ should take some time off and give the fans an opportunity to miss him.

    Chris Jericho responds

The inaugural AEW World Champion had none of it and fired back at the fan. In a sarcastic response, Jericho made it clear that he will be present at AEW Dynamite this Wednesday.

“Great idea! See ya on Wednesday….”

Chris Jericho is not only having a great time in AEW but he also has some outside projects. Most recently, it came to light that he will be reprising his role in the upcoming Terrifier 3. He had a cameo in Terrifier 2, and it has now been confirmed that he will make a comeback in the sequel of the movie.

Jericho was briefly featured in Terrifier 2 credits scene, which set up the next installment in the series. Terrifier 3 will hit the theaters on October 25, 2024.

  • Sting Retirement Match Driving Strong Ticket Sales For AEW Revolution

Sting Retirement Match Driving Strong Ticket Sales For AEW Revolution

All Elite Wrestling fans are looking forward to witnessing Sting’s last match of his legendary career. On November 29, it was announced that Sting’s retirement match would occur at AEW Revolution on March 3, 2024, at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, NC. Although tickets went on sale to the general public on December 15, the event is doing very well.

WrestleTix reported on December 17 that AEW Revolution has sold over 11,807 tickets and that the venue is set up for an attendance of 12,717. It’s reported that a little over 900 tickets are left, and on Ticketmaster, the lowest ticket price is currently $35.

Although WrestleTix may have an estimated setup for the event, it is possible to open more seating. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex can hold over an attendance of 22,000.

The report shares that AEW has blocked off behind and the side of where the entrance will be set up. If more tickets are sold for the event, AEW could decide to make changes to accommodate more seating. It’s important to note that AEW hasn’t announced any matches for the show, except that Sting will have his final match. Despite not having an opponent yet, fans are very interested in being in attendance to see Sting compete in the legendary venue.

The Importance Of Sting Finishing His Last Match At The Greensboro Coliseum

“The Icon” ending his career in the Greensboro Coliseum is fitting, as it was where he had his legendary match against Ric Flair. Sting faced “Nature Boy” to a time-limit draw at the NWA Clash Of The Champions on March 27, 1988. Although he lost, it was one of the highlight matches of Sting’s career.

Over 35 years later, Sting may have Flair in his corner to face an unknown opponent. AEW hasn’t shared who “The Icon” will challenge but is making a point to share that Sting has not been beaten since joining the company.

Regardless of the opponent, AEW fans are showing their support for Sting and are looking forward to seeing him put the face paint on for the last time.

Watch MJF Get Inducted Into The National Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame

AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman is a Hall of Famer at just 27 years old.  On Monday, Dec. 18, the wrestling champion best known as MJF was inducted into The National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, in Commack, New York at the Suffolk Y JCC

MJF’s Induction Speech for the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

When accepting his induction, MJF spoke about his pride in his religion and the significance of being honored by the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. He encouraged children to chase after their dreams no matter what and to never listen to people who doubt them.

“I’m so proud to be a Jew. Growing up, there was not a lot of people to look up to, as far as it went to the professional wrestling landscape,” said MJF.

He added that he did look up to the likes of Paul Heyman and Goldberg, who are also Jewish. However, he joked that Heyman wasn’t an athlete and the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion never discussed being Jewish on TV and just made “Growling noises.”

He added, “…So it’s really important to me that there’s going to be a crop of kids that are going to have somebody that they get to look up to.”

Friedman joins his family member in the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, NFL player Benny Friedman.

    MJF Year In Wrestling

It has been a memorable year for MJF, as he has held the AEW World Championship throughout 2023. He won the title by defeating Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear on November 19, 2022. While fans weren’t sure what to expect from him as a champion, MJF has had one of the best reigns in the company’s history.

He’s successfully defended the title in high-profile matches against Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and Kenny Omega. The AEW World Champion also had the honor of main eventing the company’s biggest event, AEW All In, on August 27 in a sold-out crowd in Wembley Stadium in London, England.

MJF defends the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at AEW World’s End on December 30 from Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum.

The latest achievement of getting inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame is another great highlight for MJF this year.

  • CM Punk Had Very Interesting Manager Idea For Lio Rush In AEW

CM Punk Had Very Interesting Manager Idea For Lio Rush In AEW

CM Punk is full of ideas, but not all of those inspirations will see the light of day. It seems that the Second City Savior had a very interesting idea for Lio Rush while he was in AEW, one that would have seen a familiar face manage the former Cruiserweight Champion.

CM Punk’s Big Idea For Lio Rush In AEW

In an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Lio Rush shared a CM Punk-related pitch that would have delighted many fans of Danielle Fishel and pro wrestling.

This idea would have seen the Boy Meets World star managing Lio Rush. Sadly, that idea never came to fruition.

“I’ve got a story with CM Punk; I definitely have a story with CM Punk. I remember me and CM Punk doing like the beginning of the show when we first all came in the building. And I remember seeing him sitting in the bleachers, and I just walked over and introduced myself to him. Told him how much I looked up to him as, you know, as a kid. I didn’t want to make him feel old, but I told him that I looked up to him. That I appreciate his work and his time in WWE.”

“A couple of months later, probably about a month or two later, he ended up coming to me with an idea. I don’t even know if I should say this, but I’m just gonna say it anyway. I remember he came up with an idea where he wanted Danielle Fishel to come into AEW to be my manager because we had that mutual friend in Danielle. So, yeah, that was an idea that came up that he wanted to talk to me about that never really came to fruition. But yeah, that’s my CM Punk story. I’ve got a couple of more, but maybe I’ll save it for a book one day.”

Topanga did not make her AEW managerial debut alongside Lio Rush, but it was a good idea at the time. CM Punk and Lio Rush are both no longer with AEW, as they departed for their own controversial reasons.

Danielle Fishel is known for her pro wrestling fandom. She’s been spotted at plenty of pro wrestling events, and has also recently hung out with Trish Stratus and Mick Foley at a public appearance. Even though Tony Khan didn’t give Fishel her manager license that time around, we have to wonder if she’d be up to take on the challenge down the line.

  • CJ Perry Forced To Undergo Surgery Over Bad Infection

CJ Perry Forced To Undergo Surgery Over Bad Infection

CJ Perry took her time getting to AEW after her WWE release. Some fans wondered if her debut for Tony Khan’s company would even happen at one point. Now that she is All Elite, it appears she is forced to take a break from action.

    CJ Perry’s Infection Problem

Over the weekend, CJ Perry posted pictures on social media, revealing an unexpected health challenge. The photos documented a finger infection, leading to an unplanned visit to the emergency room.

CJ Perry openly discussed how the health issue affected her professional commitments, causing her to miss the AEW Collision episode on December 16th and the CMLL show on Friday, where Andrade El Idolo was scheduled to perform. The included caption explained the situation, highlighting the severity of the finger infection.

Things Got Worse For CJ Perry

Now, it appears that CJ Perry’s situation got worse. The former Lana updated fans to let them know that she will require surgery to fix her problem.

I have been in the ER and hospital for over 50 hours. The infection has gotten worse, and I’m going into surgery tonight. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I love you all

We’re sending our best to CJ Perry, from everyone here at SE Scoops. This is a trying situation, but hopefully, she is in good hands with medical professionals.

Apart from her duties with AEW, CJ Perry also operates a premium content Brand Army account. You can check out the link to that paywall site here.

  • Nyla Rose & Serpentico ‘Accidentally’ Win Tag Titles Despite Hating Each Other

Nyla Rose & Serpentico ‘Accidentally’ Win Tag Titles Despite Hating Each Other

Nyla Rose & Serpentico may not be champions in AEW, but the pair ‘accidentally’ captured gold at a recent independent event.

Taking to Twitter, Rose shared that she had been ‘forced’ to team with Serpentico at last weekend’s Pandemonium: Pro Wrestling’s Holiday in LA event. Not only was she forced to team with the masked wrestler, but Rose and Serpentico ‘accidentally’ won the promotion’s Tag Team Championships.

Serpentico shared a photo of himself and his unlikely tag team partner, questioning if they can coexist as a duo.

Septentico was hardly thrilled with teaming up with Rose. In a separate tweet, he questioned why Rose was more interested with tweeting on her phone during their match rather than helping him out.

    Nyla Rose & Serpentico

Rose and Serpentico have had a long-running feud that dates back to a segment in which Rose threw some burgers while Serpentico was hungry. Serpentico has even accused Rose of being part of a ‘conspiracy theory’ to keep him off of TV, claiming the former AEW Women’s World Champion is in the ear of Tony Khan. The pair often take shots at each other on Twitter, as seen in the posts below.

Nyla Rose joined AEW in 2019. She is a former AEW Women’s World Champion and the first openly transgender World Champion of a major wrestling promotion. Serpentico debuted for AEW in March 2020. He won his first match for AEW in July of that year and made his AEW Dynamite debut that December in the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royal.

  • Bandido Updates Fans & Thanks AEW Following His Latest Surgery

Bandido has had a challenging year, as his career is put on hold in All Elite Wrestling. He is currently dealing with a wrist injury. However, he has shared that he recently underwent another surgery.

The AEW talent started dealing with visa issues this year, making him inactive for the company until the Spring. Bandido returned to the company on the April 26 episode of AEW Dynamite to take on Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship.

    Bandido Makes Entrance For AEW

The return made fans hope he would be a featured talent on the roster. Unfortunately, he broke his wrist on June 16 in a match against Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Rampage. He shared the news of his injury on Facebook and that he would need surgery.

The former Ring of Honor World Champion would have surgery on July 6 and was speculated to make his return to AEW in September. However, the wrist didn’t heal properly, and Bandido was forced to have his second surgery.

On December 16, Bandido shared on social media that the surgery was a success and thanked his supporters, notably AEW President Tony Khan. He didn’t share his timetable for a return to action, but he expressed gratitude for what Khan did for him.

    “… A very special mention
@TonyKhan for all the attentions that he’ve had to me and my family THANK YOU VERY MUCH,” wrote Bandido.

How Soon Can Bandido Make A Return To AEW?

It’s unclear when Bandido will start rehab, but he’s likely to want to ensure he can fully recover before wrestling again.

The expectancy to recover from a broken wrist is estimated to be between 6-8 weeks after surgery, according to Angela M. Bell, MD, who shared her medical advice for Medical News Today. Bandido could start the rehab process soon and look to regain strength in his hand for the next two months. After dealing with two surgeries on his wrist, he may take his time coming back and possibly return by April.

Regardless, Bandido is on the road to recovery and will likely want to be at 100 percent ready to make an impact in AEW next year.

  • MJF To Be Inducted Into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

MJF To Be Inducted Into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

All Elite Wrestling superstar MJF is having the best year of his career. He started the year as the AEW World Champion and may potentially hold the title heading into 2024. MJF has also received acclaim for his matches against Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and Kenny Omega.

While MJF has achieved accolades in wrestling, he will soon be honored by the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

The AEW World Champion shared on social media a poster announcing that he will be inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame on December 18. MJF is open about his religion and has also been referenced in AEW, notably the MJF Re-Bar Mitzvah segment.

In the post on Twitter, MJF said that getting inducted was “An incredible honor.” The induction ceremony will occur at Suffolk YJCC in Commack, New York. It’s unclear if the event will be recorded or streamed live. However, the poster shared that fans can attend the ceremony.

The event is interesting as MJF prepares for his upcoming title defense against Samoa Joe in a rematch at AEW Worlds Collide on December 30.

When Will MJF’s Next Appearance Be On AEW TV?

MJF is currently dealing with several injuries heading into his match with Joe at AEW Worlds Collide. The champion hurt his hip during his title match against Jay White at AEW Full Gear on November 18. He also shared and deleted a post on Twitter on November 27 that he had a torn labrum in his left shoulder

His last appearance for the company was on the December 6 episode of AEW Dynamite. The company did an angle where he was taken out backstage by “The Devil.” Since his attack, he hasn’t been seen on TV.

He is still slated to defend his title against Joe at the upcoming pay-per-view, but it’s unclear if he will appear ahead of the event. He’s currently not advertised for the December 20 episode of AEW Dynamite, but it’s possible that could change.

Although it’s unclear when he’ll appear for AEW, fans can see MJF get inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame next week.

  • Kenny Omega Thought He Had Hernia Before Diverticulitis Diagnosis

Kenny Omega Thought He Had Hernia Before Diverticulitis Diagnosis

AEW is missing several stars already, and they did not plan to have Kenny Omega out of action at all. The Cleaner’s sudden medical emergency will cost AEW another top star, during a time when they need that star power more than ever.

Kenny Omega received a diverticulitis diagnosis, affecting AEW’s plan for the World End 2023 pay-per-view scheduled on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York. At this time, we do not know how Tony Khan will book around Omega’s medical situation.

The Truth Behind Kenny Omega’s Recent Health Scare

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Kenny Omega’s situation. Apparently, Omega thought that his diverticulitis was a hernia acting up again on him. Thankfully, he sought out medical assistance, because they discovered the root of his issues.

“I did not hear if he had surgery yet on it. But he was rushed to the hospital on Friday. He had been in a lot of pain, and he thought what happened was, as you probably all remember, that he had the hernia [in 2022] that was really, really bad, which caused him that long period off. And he had been hurting really, really bad. And he had presumed it was a hernia. He had had bloating, which he presumed was [another hernia], and he thought he may have messed up his diet somehow and was eating something wrong. He kept training on it, working on it. Did the match with Ethan Page [on last week’s Collision]. He was hurting really bad on Wednesday when he did the promo with Jericho [on Dynamite].”

“By that point, it was really bad. So he went to the hospital and found out he had diverticulitis. It was in a really bad situation. I mean, in the sense of, if he had not gone in another day or so, it could have been horrendous. He’s I guess he’s fine. I heard from him, and just kind of said that, like, he was in pain, had had trouble sleeping, but he just thought it was the hernia acting up again.”

“And once he found out it was and he said, [it] could have been really, really bad complications. I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, and I don’t think anyone does. It was a very, very serious situation by the time he got to the hospital,” Meltzer stated.

What’s Next For Kenny Omega in AEW?

The AEW World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Starks & Big Bill, were initially set to defend their titles against The Golden Jets at Worlds End. Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega’s team was just heating up, but now they are forced to take a break.

There is no return timetable for Kenny Omega right now. We’re sending out our best, so hopefully he can heal up fast and get back to the ring without any more complications.

SE Scoops will have continued coverage of Kenny Omega’s medical situation as more information is made available.

  • Watch: What Happened With Bryan Danielson After AEW Collision Went Off Air?

Watch: What Happened With Bryan Danielson After AEW Collision Went Off Air?

Bryan Danielson may no longer be a WWE Superstar, but that didn’t stop him from using an old WWE catchphrase of his after this week’s AEW Collision.

This week’s Collision saw the roster of AEW continue on the road to Worlds End, which will take place in Uniondale, New York on December 30. In the AEW Continental Classic, Claudio Castagnoli defeated Andrade El Idolo to earn three points. Eddie Kingston defeated Daniel Garcia to earn three points. Garcia is still competing but has already been statistically eliminated as he has yet to score a single point.

    Bryan Danielson After AEW Collision

In the main event of this week’s AEW Collision, Bryan Danielson defeated Brody King to earn three points in the Blue League. After the show, Danielson received a loud YES! chant from the crowd, and Bryan admitted he’s not allowed to do that anymore. Thinking better of it, Danielson decided to join in with the YES! chant and thanked the fans for coming out to the show.

This victory gives Danielson a total of nine points, putting him in joint first place in the Blue League, alongside Andrade El Idolo. In the Gold League, Jon Moxley is in first place with 12 points, while Swerve Strickland and Jay White currently have nine points.

    What’s Next?

Next week will see the final points-based matches in the AEW Continental Classic. On December 27, AEW will host its Dynamite: New Year’s Smash event, in which the first and second place of each league will face off. The winners of those matches will face off at AEW World End to determine the first AEW Triple Crown Champion.

  • Tony Khan Will Never Stop Fighting WWE “No Matter What Happens”

Tony Khan has been at odds with WWE for years, but the AEW/ROH President believes standing against the Stamford promotion is worth the fight.

It was in 2019 that Khan launched AEW, which has proven to be the most significant competition to WWE since the demise of WCW in 2001. In March of last year, Khan added Ring of Honor to his collection. It was reported at the time that WWE had its sights set on acquiring ROH as well, though reportedly only wanted the promotion for its media library.

Tony Khan is Ready to Fight

Khan has been competing with WWE for some time now but is hardly the first figure to stand against Vince McMahon’s empire. Speaking on the post-ROH Final Battle media scrum, Khan addressed competing for the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

“It’s worth the fight, and I love the fight. I’m never gonna stop fighting. No matter what happens, no matter how things change. It’s the fight Jim Crockett fought, Verne Gagne, Ted Turner and so many other people that tried.”

Khan was happy to look at those who’ve competed against WWE in the past, while also noting how AEW is different. During the media scrum, Khan compared the success of AEW to that of WCW.

”The numbers we’re doing for our tickets are not only comparable to what WCW was doing in the mid 90s, but in many cases better. So our numbers are better per show than in WCW 94 and right on 96 and 95.”

Khan’s next big show will come later this month with the first AEW Worlds End event. The show will take place on December 30 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

  • Tony Khan Says Relationship With Warner Bros Discovery Is ‘Very Strong’

Tony Khan Says Relationship With Warner Bros Discovery Is ‘Very Strong’

Tony Khan’s pro wrestling companies are nearing a contract renewal period for both AEW and ROH. Naturally, there are a lot of rumors about the subject, especially since WWE is reportedly walking to Warner Brothers Discovery as well.

CM Punk reportedly helped to facilitate discussions between WWE and Warner Bros Discovery for a potential deal involving Monday Night RAW. Speculation arose about the possibility of WWE RAW moving to TNT or TBS, while AEW might find a place on the Discovery Channel, or another platform entirely.

During a post-ROH Final Battle Media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was questioned about the relationship between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery. Khan emphasized that AEW and Warner Bros Discovery maintain a strong and positive association.

”Ring of Honor, we haven’t had recently as many, but we’ve had really good conversations about AEW, even in recent days, I’ve had really good talks with Warner Brothers Discovery. We’ve been with them for several years, it’s a really exciting time for AEW.

We’re performing incredibly well for Warners Brothers Discovery and we’re a very strong relationship. With media rights and all the things coming up, everyone has to do their due diligence. It’s just part of the TV business. Where we stand, we stand in a position for AEW to have a huge growth year in 2024. There are a lot of really exciting things happening that I know Warner Brothers is excited about, that we’ve talked about.

It’s a great relationship and it’s going very very well for us and part of the TV business, for both sides, is doing their due diligence and that’s just a part of sports and television, really. Being part of the NFL and Premier League, I’ve seen that process play out with certainly different TV networks looking at different sports and the sports looking at different TV networks. I’ve been part of this multiple times in the NFL.”

What’s In The Future For Tony Khan’s Television Shows?

We will have to see what the future holds for Tony Khan’s companies. Nick Hausman previously reported that Tony Khan turned down talks for ROH to end up on The CW, because he wants to bring both AEW and ROH to the table as a package deal when the time comes to talk about new television contracts.

This is certainly an interesting situation, especially if WWE is in play right now. Tony Khan is not going to sell things, even if there are issues. At this time, it appears that things are going very well between WBD and Tony Khan, according to him.

2024 will be a very interesting year, especially with so much at stake when big television deals are on the table. Keep checking back with SE Scoops for more updates.

  • Kenny Omega Reveals He Is Out Of Action

Kenny Omega Reveals He Is Out Of Action

Kenny Omega and the rest of The Elite inked new deals with AEW just a few months ago. It appeared that Omega would be someone that Tony Khan could rely on, and he was getting consistent spotlights. Now, The Cleaner has pulled the plug on his own AEW run.

    Kenny Omega’s Injury Announcement

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega revealed on X that he is now out of action indefinitely. He revealed a photo of himself in a hospital bed as well, so it appears that he is being tended to.

Although Kenny Omega did not reveal the nature of his injury, it seems serious enough to pull him from action now. In his message, which he didn’t sugar coat in the slightest, Omega encouraged fans to watch wrestling until he returns.

I can’t really sugar coat this. I’m out indefinitely. I tried to keep pushing past the pain for as long as I could until it became too much. Luckily doctors caught me when they did. I’ll be here so in the mean time, please enjoy wrestling!

Kenny Omega’s absence from AEW will be a huge blow for them to take. At this point, The Cleaner was involved in a tag team program with Chris Jericho. Now, the Golden Jets will have to wait.

What’s Next For AEW Without Kenny Omega

This announcement comes days after AEW added Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho vs Ricky Starks and Big Bill to the Worlds End card, where the AEW World Tag Team Titles will be on the line. This match will need to be changed now.

AEW has suffered many injuries, and big blows, to their roster over the last year. It appears that Tony Khan will have to figure out an alternate booking situation for one of the two matches he’s booked for Worlds End on December 30th so far.

UPDATE: Reason For Kenny Omega’s AEW Absence

Sean Ross Sapp reported on X to say that Kenny Omega was suffering from an illness last week. It was not disclosed what he was dealing with, but he still pressed on and wrestled against Ethan Page. He was later diagnosed with diverticulitis.

We’re told Kenny had been ill throughout the last week, even ahead of his match with Ethan Page. He still did the match and the promos, and sought medical attention after, where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with diverticulitis.

Keep checking back with SE Scoops for more updates on Kenny Omega’s situation.

Watch MJF Make Surprise Appearance At Create-A-Pro Frostbite 2 Event

MJF may be the top name in All Elite Wrestling, but the resident Scumbag of wrestling hasn’t forgotten where he came from.

The reigning AEW World Champion began training to be a wrestler in 2014 as part of the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy run by Brian Myers and Pat Buck. This week, Create a Pro’s Wrestling promotion held its Frostbite 2 event. MJF decided to make a surprise appearance at the show and earned a thunderous response from the fans. MJF even got a cheer after simply saying “hello” to the crowd as seen in the clip below.

After his time training with Create a Pro, MJF would compete for CZW and later make his name in MLW. He signed with AEW in 2019 and captured the AEW World Championship at Full Gear 2022.

    What’s Next for MJF?

MJF will defend the AEW World Championship later this month at the first AEW Worlds End event. MJF will defend against Samoa Joe at the event, but will not be entering the match at 100%. Whether MJF retains the title at Worlds End or not, his tenure as an ROH World Tag Team Champion could come to an end soon. Tony Khan recently shared that he’s considered stripping MJF & Adam Cole of the titles. Due to Cole’s injury, Better Than You Bay Bay has only defended once as a team since winning the gold at AEW All In.

Could MJF one day be known as a WWE Superstar? Cody Rhodes thinks it is certainly possible. Click here to find out more.

  • Eric Bischoff Believes A Deal Between WWE & WBD Is Imminent, Hopes The Best For AEW

Eric Bischoff Believes A Deal Between WWE & WBD Is Imminent, Hopes The Best For AEW

Eric Bischoff has experience dealing with TV deals, both in wrestling and outside of it, and based on what he’s hearing, he feels WWE is on the verge of cinching a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery for the rights to Raw.

Speaking on “Strictly Business” with co-host Jon Alba, Bischoff addressed the reported meeting that went down between WWE and WBD and he feels that a deal between the two parties is basically done, especially due to the fact that Triple H was one of those names to be apart of the conversation. That report indicated to him that the process is pretty far along and could mean some big news to come to pro wrestling.

“The difference me and everybody else is I’ve been there and I’ve done it and I see a picture a little differently than others, but I don’t know either. I just have feelings that are different from most people based on what I’ve experienced.”

Bischoff has remained unabashed in his thoughts when it comes to Tony Khan’s handling of AEW and although the former WCW President has been critical of Khan’s practices, he does hope for a good outcome in regards to All Elite Wrestling.

“In many respects I hope I’m wrong. I don’t want to see AEW end up in a drain. I really don’t. Again, there’s people there that I really respect and like and some of them I’m friends with, some of them I just admire. Do I want to see MJF continue to grow? Absolutely. Are there people there that I’m friends with and friendly with? Absolutely, but if it happens, I don’t think anybody should be surprised, not anybody listening to this show.”

  • RVD Questions AEW Talent’s Respect Level For Veterans

RVD Questions AEW Talent’s Respect Level For Veterans

AEW promised a new era of professional wrestling when they opened their doors. Their rebellious branding may have also filtered into their backstage environment as well, because the company has a reputation of having younger talent who aren’t interested in taking veteran advice.

CM Punk and Jack Perry’s backstage scuffle at All In London was caused by Perry’s defiant nature. Punk advised against Perry using real glass several weeks prior, but he didn’t have a say in his match at Wembley Stadium. After Perry dropped Hook on the windshield of a car, he made a point to tell the camera that it was real glass so, “cry me a river.”

    The Backstage Rumor About AEW

It appears that RVD can back up that attitude that is currently in the AEW locker room. The Whole F’n Show has made a few AEW appearances so far, but never inked an official contract.

During an interview with Party with Marty, RVD stated that he’s head the same thing from Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson. AEW has those veteran minds around, but nobody is sitting under their learning tree.

“I heard Tully Blanchard say it, and I’m told Arn Anderson said it too, although that is hearsay, that the young guys don’t want their input ever. [They] never ask them ever for any help or anything on their matches and stuff … I mean, that’s important to me. It makes me think, do they think they know it all? Do they not respect them enough? But also, it’s awkward for them because they’re not taught like us to go around and shake everyone’s hand and stuff.“

    AEW May Have A Problem

CM Punk had a great time at the WWE Performance Center. He reported while he was there as well. It appears that he found himself in a setting where younger talent were more than happy to listen. Life Goes On For CM Punk

CM Punk had a great time at the WWE Performance Center. He reported “held court” while he was there as well. It appears that he found himself in a setting where younger talent were more than happy to listen.

CM Punk and Jack Perry’s backstage altercation wasn’t the only one in AEW history. Other skirmishes and backstage drama have also dotted the company’s history, such as Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo’s public tiff, one that involved a backstage altercation.

AEW has a lot of veteran talent around, and we haven’t heard from all of them on this subject. Jake “The Snake” Roberts is backstage, and he has also spoken in the past that he is willing to do anything Tony Khan asks of him. We have to wonder if Tony Khan is supporting the practice of listening to the veterans he has on his payroll.

It seems that the rumor and innuendo would say that AEW talent aren’t too interested in hearing what the former generation has to say about what they’re doing for Tony Khan’s company.

  • WWE’s Current Mindset About Possibility Of Signing MJF (Exclusive)

WWE’s Current Mindset About Possibility Of Signing MJF (Exclusive)

Cody Rhodes transitioning from AEW to WWE in 2022 sparked speculation among fans that anyone, including a company co-founder, could depart AEW for WWE. It seems that nobody is off the table, either.

Jade Cargill also made a similar move in 2023, and fans are still waiting for her official in-ring debut. Considering MJF’s willingness to discuss WWE, and the great Bidding War of 2024, fans have pondered whether he might eventually follow his friend and mentor Cody Rhodes to WWE as well.

Cody Rhodes Thinks MJF Will End Up In WWE

Cody Rhodes said to Peter Rosenberg on the Michael Kay Show that he believes that MJF will end up in WWE. He is also proud of what Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been able to do in AEW so far as well.

“I think one day you will see MJF in WWE. I’m really proud of him. For those that don’t know, MJF was one of my recruits and probably the one I’m most excited about because of potential and personality and overall professionalism. One thing I’m proud of him for doing is, if you notice, he’s put on a lot of muscle and he’s put it on safely over the last year and a half. When he does make that jump, I don’t know when that is, if he makes the jump. If he comes to WWE, you have to stand across from guys like Drew McIntyre, like Omos, Brock Lesnar. I’m not shaming anyone who is not hitting the gym and clanging and banging with the weights, like The Rock would say, but it is part of what we do now. You have to be able to swing a bat with the big boys. Watching him grow physically, it seems like maybe he knows where his future lies. Really, your guess is as good as mine. I never bother him about it because I want to remain the friends we’ve become today.”

Recent speculation has stated that MJF may have already inked a new deal with AEW. He hasn’t brought up the Bidding War of 2024 in a while, and that caused some to wonder what his next move is.

Exclusive Insight on WWE and MJF’s Current Standing

I have asked around on several occasions about WWE’s interest in MJF, and whether there is any talk about bringing him in. There have never been any talks within the creative team about MJF, because a deal hasn’t been signed.

As I have previously stated, WWE creative team members are usually only approached once someone is actually signed. On a very rare occasion, they will be asked if they have any ideas for someone that the company is considering, but it doesn’t seem that there are any discussions with MJF.

I was also told that the general thought within WWE is that MJF already inked a new deal with Tony Khan. AEW just hasn’t publicly announced that yet for some reason.

MJF may stay with AEW for another contract cycle, and that could work out just fine for him. At 27-years-old, MJF still has plenty of time with WWE if he waited another three or four years.

It’s anyone’s guess how different the pro wrestling world would be today if WWE scooped up MJF after his Tough Enough audition tape. On that note, you may check out that amazing piece of pro wrestling history below.

  • Adam Copeland Reveals How Wrestling Helped His Role in Percy Jackson Series

AEW star Adam Copeland (formerly Edge in WWE) has credited pro wrestling in shaping up his role as Ares in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

After he was forced to hang up his boots in 2011, Adam Copeland explored different avenues in life and tried his luck pursuing an acting career. The current AEW star has bagged roles in a handful of television shows and films over the years. He played a major part in the popular series Haven. In the new Percy Jackson series, Adam Copeland will portray Ares, the God of War.

The show is based on the the first story, ‘The Lightning Thief’, in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series by Rick Riordan.

The story revolves around the titular demigod, who is trying to recover Zeus’s stolen master bolt. The quest puts Percy Jackson amid the powerful beings, including a couple of Greek gods, Hades and Ares, who have a strong dislike towards him.

Adam Copeland reflects on his role

Ahead of the show’s release, Adam Copeland was at the red carpet. Speaking with The Koalition Entertainment, Adam Copeland outlined how wrestling helped him in portraying the role of Ares in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He drew similarities between the character of Ares and pro wrestling. Here is what the veteran star said:

“Aries is a little bit of wrestling and that helped, you know, because you’re playing with God. So you have to be larger than life. You have to be big. And that’s exactly what wrestling is. You have to amplify things to possibly 80,000 people away. So it has to be big. Everything has to be big. And Aries is big. So it came in handy to kind of dip into my wrestling playbook for it.”

At the red carpet, The Rated R Superstar looked stunning as he donned a red suit as well as a red fedora with a feather.

The first episode of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians will also be streaming on Hulu from December 20 till January 31st.

  • Possibility of AEW & Warner Bros. Discovery Parting Ways in 2024 (Report)

Possibility of AEW & Warner Bros. Discovery Parting Ways in 2024 (Report)

What would it mean for AEW if their relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery was to end next year?

Since launching, AEW has been allied with Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of TNT and TBS. Tony Khan has shown immense loyalty to WBD and when looking for a TV deal for Ring of Honor, only approached WBD-owned broadcasters.

    AEW & Warner Bros. Discovery

WWE is currently on the hunt for a new broadcast partner for Monday Night Raw, with the red brand’s deal with the USA Network set to expire next year. With the USA Network set to become the home of SmackDown, it is believed that the network will not renew its deal with Raw. Speaking on his Rumor & Innuendo podcast, Nick Hausman addressed what could be next for AEW’s relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery if talks with WWE prove fruitful

“From what I gathered, Tony was getting quite a big part of the ad revenue for Dynamite early on, which when the new people came in [after WBD merger], they were like, ‘Whoa, how did you get this deal? We don’t really want to continue on with this, If this is going to be the ad rev share that we’re going to be doing’ So you’ve got that. You’ve got the NBA stuff.

“I also have been told by a couple people for months, that there is the belief that Warner has some kind of investment in AEW. Tony has 100% control of the company, but at a certain point, Warner made some kind of investment I’m speculating, guessing maybe to recoup a little bit of what they were losing with the ad share.

“So while I don’t, well again….it was told to me that this meeting that appears to be what Dave is referencing [between WWE and WBD], and got everybody all worked up about did not happen. There are other indicators to me that things are not going maybe as Tony is projecting publicly, and I would not be surprised to see AEW and Warner may be part ways next year.”

  • A Top Suspect in the AEW Devil Investigation May Have Just Been Ruled Out

A Top Suspect in the AEW Devil Investigation May Have Just Been Ruled Out

We’re yet to know who is causing havoc in AEW while wearing the mask of the Devil, but it appears that one suspect is in the clear.

On last week’s Dynamite, MJF accused Page of being the ‘Hangman’ Adam Page of being the Devil, and Page claimed that MJF was behind the mask. In the closing moments of this week’s show, Page was attacked by the Devil’s henchmen and the Devil himself was present in the parking lot

    Who is the Devil?

The attack on Page ended with the former AEW World Champion being slammed onto a car windshield, which led some to believe the Devil is Jack Perry. Perry has long been suspected of being behind the mask with his suspension from AEW reportedly ending over a month ago. It was Perry’s use of real glass at All In that would ultimately end CM Punk’s tenure with the company as well.

While certain signs point to Perry, it appears that the former FTW Champion isn’t behind these attacks. A high-level source who spoke to Fightful Select after the attack on Page clarified that they don’t believe Jack Perry is involved in the angle. Of course, plans could change but it has previously been reported that the Devil’s henchmen are being played on screen by the talent who will ultimately be unmasked.

    Update on ‘Hangman’ Page

It was added that ‘Hangman’ Page will be off TV for the time being to sell the impact of this attack. There is currently no time window as to when fans can expect the Cowboy back on TV.

  • CJ Perry To Make CMLL Appearance For The First Time Alongside Andrade

CJ Perry To Make CMLL Appearance For The First Time Alongside Andrade

AEW star Andrade El Idolo is making his comeback to CMLL for the first time in many years but he’s not coming alone as his manager CJ Perry is also set to make her debut.

The former Lana made her debut for AEW at September’s All Out pay-per-view. She came out to a thunderous reception from the fans following her husband Miro’s match against Powerhouse Hobbs. This marked her first appearance at a pro wrestling event since she was let go by WWE in late 2021.

On a recent CMLL show at Arena Mexico, a vignette saw Andrade El Idolo in which he announced that he would return home to CMLL. It was only a couple of weeks back that CMLL teased a star would be returning soon and this led to tons of speculation that Idolo might be making a return. Well, he’s not only coming back home but also bringing CJ Perry alongside him.

CJ Perry to make CMLL debut

On CMLL Twitter account, Andrade El Idolo announced that CJ Perry will be making her debut at Arena Mexico on Friday, December 15. Check out the video clip below:

Back in the day, Andrade performed under the name La Sombra and this will mark the Mexican superstar’s first appearance for the promotion in eight years.

Before joining WWE, he lost in a Mask vs. Mask match against Atlantis at CMLL’s 82nd Anniversary show. Notably, he is a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion which he captured during his run with the company as part of an agreement between CMLL and NJPW.

Andrade is also participating in the Continental Classic tournament, where he has acquired 9 points. ‘El Idolo’ is set to face Claudio Castagnoli on AEW Collision this Saturday.

Meanwhile, CJ Perry, who previously performed as Lana in WWE, will be gearing up for her debut in Mexico. You can read why CJ Perry decided to take a break after leaving WWE below:

  • ‘Hangman’ Page Put Through Windshield by Devil’s Henchman in AEW Dynamite Cliffhanger

Adam ‘Hangman’ Page has become the latest victim of The Devil and his henchman in an explosive cliffhanger to end this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

During the September 27, episode of AEW Dynamite, a group of masked individuals attacked Jay White. The gang was led by someone wearing MJF’s ‘devil’ mask, immediately pointing the finger of suspicion at the AEW World Champion. MJF has denied that he is the one behind these attacks and his allies in The Acclaimed have also been attacked. Last week, MJF was seen on the ground, seemingly after being attacked, though suspiciously, the attack was never shown.

    ‘Hangman’ Page Attacked

Moments before being ‘attacked’ last week, MJF accused ‘Hangman’ Page of being the one under the Devil mask. On this week’s show, Samoa Joe also pointed the finger of suspicion at the Cowboy before Roderick Stong argued that MJF was the Devil.

At the end of the show, the Devil’s henchmen attacked Page in the parking lot while the Devil was sat in a car. The masked person then nodded to his assistants, who proceeded to slam Page onto the glass windshield of the car.

    Is the Windshield a Clue?

The use of the windshield may be a nod to the Devil being revealed as Jack Perry. The former Jungle Boy caused a stir at AEW All In during his match with Hook in which he made clear the windshield of his vehicle was real glass. Perry was suspended following his backstage altercation with CM Punk though his suspension reportedly ended over a month ago.

The Devil may be an anarchistic force, but he has his own AEW merch which has caught the attention of a WWE NXT Superstar. Click here to find out more.

  • Chris Jericho Says ‘The Iron Claw’ Will Be “Really Interesting”

Chris Jericho Says ‘The Iron Claw’ Will Be “Really Interesting”

AEW star Chris Jericho hasn’t watched ‘The Iron Claw’ yet but that doesn’t keep him away from shedding praise on the movie.

‘The Iron Claw’ captures the lives and tragedies of the famous Von Erich wrestling family. The wrestling lineage began with Fritz Von Erich (real name Jack Adkisson,) and his sons would taste success in the squared circle. The Von Erichs are still active in wrestling at present with Marshall & Ross Von Erich competing to this day.

Chris Jericho, who has yet to watch the movie had nothing but praise for the movie as well as the wrestling family.

    Chris Jericho comments

While speaking to Dallas News, he said that from what he’s heard, the movie has done a good job and reckoned that it will interesting to watch the Von Erich movie. Here is what he said:

“I haven’t seen the movie yet. I think it’s going to be really interesting. I think a lot of times Hollywood does a terrible job of making wrestling movies. They one exception, of course, is The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke. I think this one, from what I’ve heard, it’s done a good job of that as well.

He further spoke about never meeting a member of Von Erich and he’s quite excited that the family will be attending AEW Dynamite. He added:

“I’ve never met a Von Erich. I know the story as much as anybody else does, just from reading about it. So, I’m excited to kind of see that interpretation. … And I’m actually excited because the Von Erichs are going to be at Dynamite, and that’ll be the first time I’ve ever met a Von Erich ever, in any way, shape or form. So, you know, that’s pro wrestling royalty and such an uplifting story in a lot of ways, such a tragedy in other ways. So it’ll be cool to kind of get a chance to say hi to Kevin and pay respect.”

Meanwhile, Chris Jericho’s former rival and current AEW World Champion MJF had a role in The Iron Claw but his role was originally much bigger than what made the final cut. ‘The Salt of The Earth’ also made his presence felt at ‘The Iron Claw’ Premiere in Los Angeles.

  • Athena Says NXT Was Like Going To ‘Pro Wrestling University’

Athena Says NXT Was Like Going To ‘Pro Wrestling University’

Prior to joining All Elite Wrestling in 2022, Ring of Honor Women’s World champion Athena spent six years with WWE. As Ember Moon, she held the NXT Women title as well as the brand’s tag titles, alongside Shotzi Blackheart.

Despite her WWE run coming to an end in late-2021, Athena maintains an overall positive outlook on her experience there, particularly with the atmosphere in NXT.

Athena spoke with Phil Strum for Under The Ring and explained how working for WWE helped her develop as a performer.

Athena Says NXT was like going to Pro Wrestling University

Athena individually thanked several of the coaches she worked with in NXT, including Sara Amato, Robbie Brookside, Norman Smiiley, Matt Bloom, Fitt Finaly, Shawn Michaels, as well as Triple H.

“I learned a lot about myself,” she began. “I learned a lot about what I wanted, and where I wanted to be in my career. I think the most awesome part about being an NXT was working with [Triple H] or with working with all the amazing coaches like Sara Amato, Robbie Brookside, who I love to death. I cannot say enough great things about Robbie Brookside. [He] brought out that aggression within the Ember Moon character. Norman Smiley, Matt Bloom, Fit Finlay — there were just so much knowledge in one place in. Shawn Michaels too, Scotty 2 Hotty was there.

“There was just so much knowledge wrapped up in one place, that it was like a college for wrestling. I don’t know if that’s an accurate term, it was like Pro Wrestling University. It was really cool to jus be able to go there and just learn so much.”

Athena says she still speaks to many of her NXT coaches to this day. She asks them if they watch her matches in ROH and tries to pick up any pointers that she can.

“It’s just really cool to have that support still, even though I’m not there. I just learned a lot about myself and what I wanted out of my career there. I learned how to work for television, how to work for myself. It made me more motivated ever than before, just to be good at what I do. And I think that’s the beauty of that place.”
