Mauro Ranallo Deletes Twitter Account After Corey Graves Jab

Following this past Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames event, passionate NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo deleted his Twitter account. This came in the wake of comments made by SmackDown announcer Corey Graves.

Graves shared some critical observations over Ranallo’s commentary during the broadcast of TakeOver: WarGames. Taking to Twitter, Graves suggested that Ranallo wasn’t giving his fellow commentators, Beth Phoenix and Nigel McGuinness, an opportunity to provide their thoughts on the action.

He wrote, “Just for the record guys, I know you wouldn’t know it, but there’s actually a WWE Hall of Famer AND a former Ring of Honor Champion on commentary. I’d imagine they have a lot to offer.”

    https://twitter.com/WWEGraves/status/1198414519556562944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1198414519556562944&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wrestlinginc.com%2Fnews%2F2019%2F11%2Fnxt-lead-announcer-mauro-ranallo-deletes-twitter-account-662652%2F

Replying to a fan’s question over how many Chicago rap references Ranallo had made, Graves stated: “Far, far too many.”

At the time of writing, Ranallo’s account is still deleted. His close friend and manager, Frank Shamrock, actually responded to Graves’ comment. He uploaded a picture that read “Social media has made too many of you comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the mouth for it.”

    Lost Voice

During last night’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, Ranallo was noticeably missing during the show. He was replaced during the NXT matchups by Michael Cole.

In case you missed it: during the NXT Championship matchup between Adam Cole and Pete Dunne, Cole explained to the WWE Universe why Ranallo wasn’t present.

Acording to Cole, Ranallo was so passionate during the previous night’s TakeOver event that he blew his voice out and was therefore unable to provide the kind of commentary NXT has become known for. It was noted that Ranallo would be back on commentary duties for this week’s episode of NXT.

Ranallo is an open, active mental health advocate. He has previously documented his own personal battles in his well-received documentary, Bi-Polar Rock ‘N’ Roller.

  • Triple H Praises Adam Cole Vs. Pete Dunne, Name’s Cole “NXT’s Iron Man”

Triple H Praises Adam Cole Vs. Pete Dunne, Name’s Cole “NXT’s Iron Man”

Triple H, has shared some high praise for both “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne and the current NXT Champion, Adam Cole.

Taking to Twitter following their clash at last night’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, Triple H called their matchup “AMAZING.” He also highlighted Cole’s performance, labelling the Undisputed Era leader as NXT’s Iron Man.

    “.@PeteDunneYxB. @AdamColePro. AMAZING. Adam Cole = #WWENXT’s iron man. #WeAreNXT #SurvivorSeries”

Given the hectic, physically demanding nature of Cole’s week leading up to Survivor Series, Triple H’s comment is more than justified. During Wednesday night’s episode of NXT, Cole faced off against Dominik Dijakovic in a ladder match. The winner of this match would determine which team received the advantage for their WarGames matchup on Saturday. Cole was able to emerge victorious, granting Undisputed Era that much needed edge.

Saturday saw the stable compete in the WarGames matchup. They clashed against the team of Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic and a returning Kevin Owens. Cole took a serious bump from the top of the cage through a couple of tables, courtesy of Ciampa’s Air Raid Crash. This move saw Team Ciampa able to secure the win.

Cole’s weekend was then capped off with an NXT Championship matchup against Dunne. “The Bruiserwight” had won the right at the belt during his triple threat match against Killian Dain and Damian Priest on TakeOver: WarGames. Cole successfully defended his precious NXT Championship.

This match was excellent and capped off yet another incredible TakeOver. There were only four matches on the card and each of them delivered. Both the men’s and the women’s WarGames matches had amazing moments. This normally would be where I’d say that the main roster has a tough act to follow. However, NXT is now a part of Survivor Series and I’m hoping that leads to an a great PPV tomorrow night.

The Revival Reflect On Their NXT Homecoming

The Revival returned to WWE’s black-and-gold brand this week to take on Undisputed Era members Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. After the match, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder caught up with WWE to reflect on their NXT homecoming.

“It felt great. Win, lose or draw, we went out there and we showed the world that we can still do exactly what we say we do, and that’s be the best tag team on the planet,” Wilder said.

“Maybe we didn’t win tonight, maybe we didn’t draw tonight, maybe we straight up lost tonight, but we got to come back here, where we started as a tag team five and a half years ago, and we got to show the world that this is what we love. This is what gives me goosebumps every night. It means a lot to us.”

    “We Didn’t Lose Tonight”

Dawson then interjected, adding “We didn’t lose tonight. I don’t think we lost tonight. I think it was a victory. I think with my wife and my baby girl watching at home, I think they think it’s a victory. I might not have got the 1, 2, 3, but we came back to the house that we built brick by brick, and I don’t care who was on top when we were here, we were the ones that built this house. We were the foundation. I’m very proud to say that.”

He continued, “Undisputed Era, hey man, you got lucky. You’re a damn good tag team. But if there’s ever a time that you decide that, maybe, there needs to be a three-time NXT Tag Team Champions that go by the name of The Top Guys, FTR, The Revival…hey, give us that shot. Give us that opportunity, and we’ll prove it again. Because you are good, but you ain’t Revival good.”

  • Damien Priest Discusses His Character, Power Of Positive Thinking

Damien Priest Discusses His Character, Power Of Positive Thinking

NXT Superstar Damien Priest is on the rise within WWE’s black-and-gold brand. Joining Sean “X-Pac” Waltman on his podcast, X-Pac 12360, Priest discussed the similarities between himself in real life and his on-screen character.

“This is the closest to me that I’ve ever been in this business,” Priest admitted. “The idea to live forever is to accomplish as much as I can in this business so that my name gets remembered.”

He continued,” When you think about iconic rock stars, like Morrison, and bands like Priest and Motley Crue, they’ll never get forgotten. So the idea is to have that image, because that’s the way I want to live, or at least how Damian Priest wants to live, because that’s the way somebody who’s never going to be forgotten lives. And to a certain degree, that is me. I try to live kind of like a rock star-ish life, where I like going out, I like going to concerts, I head-bang. This is all real stuff.”

“I Didn’t Know The Inside Of A Gym”

Priest recalled having a WWE tryout back in 2010. Although he was upset at the time, he now understands that he simply wasn’t ready. He confessed that he wasn’t even close to where he is now, noting that he wasn’t even in good shape.

“I was in a shape, it was round, but I didn’t know the inside of a gym at all. I looked horrible, I was sloppy in the ring. But to me, I thought I was ready. Looking back now, I can be honest with myself and know that, although it took me a very long time to get here, I’m the most prepared I could be.”

    Power Of Positivity

Like the New Day, Priest believes in the power of positivity. He stressed how this mindset helped him achieve his goals within pro wrestling, adding that his belief in “being positive” isn’t a work.

“[…] when you really start making an effort to do it, it’s incredible the amount of positive that can happen in return. Just because you’re not so focused on the negative, and you just keep moving forward and moving forward and moving forward.”

“So even when I did my [first] PC tryout and I was turned down, while I was upset, it didn’t stop me. I still kept on working hard, and I still got more opportunities. I got an actual job in wrestling and I got to travel different parts of the world wrestling, which I’d never done in all the years I’d been in the business. And then, when I wrote this place off, all of a sudden, I’m getting a phone call, and I’m like, ‘This is unexpected, but wow.”

Damien Priest competes this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. He will take on both Pete Dunne and Killian Dain a triple threat match. The winner of the match will receive an NXT Championship opportunity at this Sunday’s Survivor Series against Adam Cole.

Adam Cole Set To Defend NXT Championship At Survivor Series

It’s going to be a busy week for NXT Champion Adam Cole. The Undisputed Era leader is not only set to compete tonight on NXT in a ladder match, he will also be featured in a WarGames matchup this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. In addition to these physically demanding matches, it’s now been announced that Cole will be defending his NXT Championship the day after this hellacious encounter at Survivor Series. All of this while the Superstar continues to deal with an injury.

WWE made the announcement that a new number one contender will be determined on tonight’s episode of NXT. A Triple Threat match between Pete Dunne, Killian Dain and Damien Priest will face off for the opportunity on Sunday.

Dunne has been feuding with both Dain and Priest in recent weeks. Last week, he and Dain were meant to compete in the ring. Their match would never start, however, as Dain was attacked by Priest during his entrance. It didn’t take long for things to devolve into an all-out brawl between the three of them.

Cole joins his Undisputed Era stablemates Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish this Saturday. They take on the tea of Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic and a yet to be announced partner in a WarGames match.

  • Tommaso Ciampa Opens Up About His Road To Recovery

Tommaso Ciampa Opens Up About His Road To Recovery

Since returning from neck surgery, NXT Superstar Tommaso Ciampa has quickly re-established himself on WWE’s black-and-gold brand, NXT. Speaking with Yahoo!, Ciampa addressed his road to recovery post-neck surgery as well as his vision for NXT’s future.

“When you have the surgery, the biggest question mark is how quickly are you going to get strength and feeling back in your arms and hands,” Ciampa explained.

“For me, the second I woke up, it was like snapping your fingers. I could open and close my hand again, strength wasn’t at 100 percent, but movement, mobility, control, all of that was there. Feeling and sensation came back immediately, which was a very good sign. [Any uncertainty I had] was more hesitation going into the procedure, me hoping that it worked as well as we thought it would since we caught it early. As soon as I woke up and all of those boxes were checked, there wasn’t much doubt about me returning.”

    “NXT Is Legit”

Looking to his home brand, NXT, Ciampa shared that he isn’t surprised at how well they are doing against RAW and SmackDown.

“We are equal, NXT is legit,” he stated. “I think some people knew that but now we’re reaching a bigger audience. I joked about it when we got the USA deal, that I couldn’t wait until 5 or 10 years down the road when it’s WrestleMania weekend and NXT is drawing the bigger house. I stand by that. You give us 5 to 10 years on TV, every week on USA, I think NXT is going to become in everyone’s eyes the No. 1 brand in professional wrestling.

Ciampa goes to war this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. He is joined by Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic and an announced partner against the team of the Undisputed Era in a WarGames matchup.

  • Tommaso Ciampa Recalls Being Involved In Undertaker Segment Early In His Career

Tommaso Ciampa Recalls Being Involved In Undertaker Segment Early In His Career

Tommaso Ciampa is primed to take part in this weekend’s WarGames matchup at NXT TakeOver. Since becoming an NXT Superstar, Ciampa has risen through the ranks and become synonymous with the black-and-gold brand. Prior to this Superstardom, however, Ciampa made sporadic appearances for WWE early in his career. One such moment occurred in 2005, where he portrayed a lawyer on-screen during a segment featuring The Undertaker. Speaking with the State of Combat podcast, Ciampa recalled his first-ever on-screen WWE role.

He explained how he used to train at Killer Kowalski’s training school, which acted as a “feeding ground” for WWE. Ciampa noted that anytime the company was in the northeast area, they would contact Kowalski’s school to source extra talent. At the time, a 20-year-old Ciampa happened to be one selected.

    “It Was Wild”

“Luckily for me, I have always felt comfortable around the microphone, so in that part I wasn’t nervous, particularly because I had a script that I was reading off of because I was acting like a lawyer that day so I didn’t even have to memorize the lines,” said Ciampa. “But the day itself was crazy, because once I got picked, it was probably 4 pm at the time. It was an important angle for WWE because maybe a week or two prior, Mohammad Hassan and Davari had done something to upset the executives or whatever it was at the time, or maybe it was UPN, or whatever it was. It was around the time of the terrorists so it just didn’t sit well with people.”

He continued, “This lawyer thing had to be an apology that came off sincere, and also in the wrestling world, it had to make sense and also for The Undertaker to come out. I rehearsed that script in front of everybody. I did a solo in front of Vince McMahon in his office. I did an in-ring with The Undertaker, Vince McMahon and Triple H. Looking back now, it’s like I see how big of a deal it was and how crazy it was to have that one-on-one time with everybody as a 20-year-old kid on the independents. It was wild. Everyone treated me incredibly well. I remember that they didn’t like the suit that I had on so they went and bought me a suit and let me keep it.”

Ciampa shared that being in the ring with The Undertaker is one of the notable highlights of his career. He added that his time spent backstage with Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Vince McMahon as well as how he was treated had a more significant impact than anything else that took place that day.

Mia Yim Talks Being A Domestic Abuse Survivor

Mia Yim dropped a ladder match to Io Shirai on NXT this Wednesday night. The match was to determine which team would gain the advantage in the upcoming War Games match in Chicago on Saturday. The 30-year-old sat down with Lillian Garcia recently for the “Chasing Glory” podcast and spoke about being a domestic abuse survivor, being bullied during her childhood, and more.

Near the end of the interview, Garcia asked Yim about her experience as a domestic abuse survivor and how she got through the experience.

“I moved down here (Florida) in 2013 and the first couple of months was great but they always are,” Yim said on the show. “There were flags there.”

She mentioned that she moved to Florida both for her partner at the time and also to chase her dream of being in WWE.

“So, (my family) could see the flags,” she continued. “The stuff that he was saying, the stuff that he was promising, they could see the flags and they were like ‘you’re an adult, you can make your own decisions, but this is not healthy and we just want to let you know that this is not right.’”

Yim would then say she continued in the relationship feeling like it would be alright.

“It always starts out small and gets bigger and bigger,” Yim continued. “It was the arguments that turned into just being called different names. The competition between our careers, I was doing more traveling, I had the WWE tryout. I was just about to get into TNA. In my opinion, he probably felt like he was in competition. He would bring me down mentally at first verbally.”

At this point, Garcia confirmed with Yim that the partner being spoken about is also a wrestler.

“The first time, I was drinking a protein shake,” Yim recalled. “He slapped the protein shake out of my hand and then put me in a headlock, like a real headlock. And after that happened, I’m looking around and I’ve never been in that kind of position before so I didn’t know what happened but the first thing that I did was clean up the protein shake. I immediately just started cleaning and as I’m cleaning it’s like ‘what just happened?’”

“I know this is wrong but he loves me and apologizes happened,” Yim spoke regarding what she was thinking at the time.

“Then it just came more consistent and more extreme,” Yim continued. “There was a point when I got locked in a closet. There was a point where I’d hurt my knee at a show, so it was kind of tender, and he – I got pushed against a wall and he kneed the inside of my knee.”

Yim would continue to say she was in the situation for approximately 2 years. The conversation would get so honest that Yim even admitted that she and Shelton Benjamin don’t really hate each other as is often presented on social media as being the case. Benjamin played a role in helping Yim escape the situation she was living in.

“He is my big brother, I love him so much,” Yim said on the show. “He pretty much offered up his home for me. The minute he found out, immediately he said ‘I’ll get you a plane ticket, you get out of there, I got you’ and at this point, I wasn’t ready yet.”

After more episodes of abuse, Mia said she found the courage to escape.

“You’re not going to be the reason why the police is going to call my parents telling them that their daughter has passed away,” Yim said through tears. “So, I finally left.”

Garcia then mentioned that there are numerous people listening to her story who are going through the same thing. She asked Mia what advice she has for them.

“I’ve tried my best to be an advocate and to say that silence is the abuser’s weapon,” Yim said.

  • Finn Balor Admits He Wasn’t Happy On Main Roster, Talks About Bullet Club In WWE

Finn Balor Admits He Wasn’t Happy On Main Roster, Talks About Bullet Club In WWE

Finn Balor recently returned to WWE’s black-and-gold brand, NXT. He immediately made an impact, expressing his interest in the NXT Championship by confronting current champion Adam Cole.

Speaking with Corey Grave’s on WWE’s podcast, After The Bell, Balor opened up about his unhappiness on WWE’s main roster. He also addressed his NXT return and even spoke about the Bullet Club.

“[The idea to return to NXT] came to be a couple of months ago. Things weren’t going kind of as smoothly – well, I don’t want to say ‘as smoothly’. I just wasn’t happy where I was at on RAW and SmackDown,” Balor admitted. “I had a conversation with Hunter, we pinged some ideas back and forth, I took a little time off and came back in NXT. It’s all been awesome since.”

He was quick to note that he wouldn’t change anything about his main roster experience—one that saw him become the promotion’s first-ever Universal Champion.

“[…] everyone’s been through those times in their career, and everybody’s been through s–tty times in their lives. And I don’t want to say it was a s–tty time but it was a time that looking back now, I learned more than anything on those three years on RAW and SmackDown.”

He continued, “So, I wouldn’t necessarily change anything but I learned a lot from it and I can take that forward. I’ve still got another, I believe, like eight years left in me. Not a lot of people have been fortunate enough to have done what I’ve done so fast.”

    Bullet Club

Balor helped form the original iteration of Bullet Club during his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. With WWE openly referencing his time in the Club, as well as The O.C.’s involvement with the group, Balor admitted they are all “still boys.” But even he isn’t sure if WWE will commit to a Bullet Club reunion on their show.

“[…] whether it happens on screen or not? I don’t know,” Finn admitted. “It’s one of those things where it almost, nearly happens and then doesn’t. Is that cooler? Or will it be the case where if we give it to them, its, ‘Uh, that was it? I was hoping it was going to be cooler than that.’”

Balor continued, “And we keep talking about this five years I’ve been in WWE – that Bullet Club stuff, for me, is six or seven years ago. So, trying to go back in time that far for me is – I’d rather come up with something new, create something new, create something fresh that people can talk about that can leave another legacy and another chapter of my career. Hopefully, that’s what we can do at NXT.”

Finn Balor is set to compete against Matt Riddle at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. The two clash on November 23rd.

  • Adam Cole Says He Got Ready For Smackdown On 1.5 Hours Notice

Adam Cole Says He Got Ready For Smackdown On 1.5 Hours Notice

Adam Cole defeated Daniel Bryan on Smackdown this week. It was the first time the two have ever faced each other and according to Cole, Bryan is as good as everyone says he is. Cole appeared on “WWE After the Bell” with Corey Graves recently and talked about his experience having to rush to the show.

“I got a text message about 2:15 saying ‘hey, there’s a chance you might be needed for Smackdown’ and then 2-minutes after that it was ‘you’re needed for Smackdown and a plane leaves in an hour and a half.”

“Fortunately, I was home. So, I quickly get all my stuff together, get all rushed, we get there and we’re waiting for the plane to show up because the plane’s late. Then the plane gets there, we end up landing, and we’re kind of figuring out the idea of what we’re going to be doing while we’re in the air. When we do land we land at about 7:30 but again this is in Buffalo so there is a decent little trip yet to get there.”

“We walk into the arena at around 8:15/8:20, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman were just finishing in the ring and that is kind of how the whole process started. It was definitely one of the wackiest days of my career because I think at that point, me and Bryan ended up walking out to the ring around 9:30 so I had about an hour to get ready and get focussed and get in the zone and all that jazz. Totally wild day.”

The conversation between Graves and Cole can be listened to in the player below:

  • NXT Superstar Joaquin Wilde Cleared To Return To In-Ring Action

NXT Superstar Joaquin Wilde Cleared To Return To In-Ring Action

NXT Superstar Joaquin Wilde has been cleared to return to in-ring action. He revealed the news himself via social media in an Instagram story. In the story, he holds up a note that reads “Patient has been cleared for wrestling. Full contact is okay.”

Wilde underwent surgery last month due to a broken eye socket. The Superstar now has a steel plate in his face, thanks to the injury which occurred earlier this year in July. The incident took place during training. Doctors initially delayed signing off on surgery to see if the injury would heal on its own accord.

He originally connected with fans via Twitter, informing them of his successful surgery back in October:

“My eye is swollen shut but i just wanted to let yall know that surgery was a success and im officially on the road to recovery. I have a steel plate in my face now. Surgeon said 4 weeks til i can start doing stuff again. So ill be back at it real soon!”

Wilde, who has wrestled all around the world prior to signing with WWE, made his NXT debut during their NXT Breakout Tournament. He would be eliminated in the first round by Angel Garza. Formerly known in Impact Wrestling as DJZ, Wilde has held several titles including the Impact World Tag Team Championship and the X-Division Championship.

  • Adam Cole Is “Adamant” To Remain On NXT

Adam Cole Is “Adamant” To Remain On NXT

NXT Champion Adam Cole has revealed that, although there may eventually be an opportunity for Undisputed Era to move to either RAW or SmackDown, he’d prefer to remain a part of NXT.

Speaking with Metro, Cole shared how “Eventually there’s the thought process of maybe the Undisputed Era would like to take our body of work and go to RAW or SmackDown. I don’t wanna speak for them, but personally I’ve never been more adamant about wanting to stay part of NXT than I am right now.”

He explained how there’s something special about being a part of the black-and-gold brand as it continues to grow, adding that “[…] I hope so badly that me and the rest of the guys are here for a long time.”

“We generally get the vibe that they [WWE officials] love that we’re so passionate about this place. One of the coolest things about this place is everyone who works here is so pumped to be part of NXT. I think WWE really appreciates that.”

In the run-up to WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, it was reported that Cole has been competing despite suffering from an injury.

This is the first time that NXT will be featured on the Survivor Series event, competing against RAW and SmackDown Superstars. It is not known at this time whether Cole will take time away from the ring to heal before the show on November 24th.

  • Io Shirai Opens Up About Her Heel Turn, Finding New Confidence

Io Shirai Opens Up About Her Heel Turn, Finding New Confidence

WWE NXT Superstar Io Shirai recently spoke with The Hindunstan Times. During the interview, Shirai opened up about her heel turn on the black-and-gold brand. She also shared who her current dream opponents would be.

“To the fans, my character changed suddenly. But I took a long time to think about it and it was a gradual process for me. When I came to WWE, I wanted to try out something different. They already had Asuka and Kairi [Sane]. So, I wanted to show something new,” Shirai explained. “I wanted to show a new side of Japanese woman wrestlers. I have mainly been a babyface in my career but I wanted to make a big change.”

This change has allowed her a new sense of confidence, one she credits directly to her heel turn.

“This has given me more confidence. The heel turn has added a lot of new things to my character and that has certainly boosted my confidence. I came with a different role but this change has been a boost for me.”

When it comes to potential dream opponents on WWE’s main roster shows RAW and SmackDown, Shirai was quick to list a few top names. For her, she would love the opportunity to compete against “The Boss” Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair and Asuka.
