Ricochet made his way up the ladder but Adam Cole got into the ring and tipped it over and Ricochet fell out of the ring. Adam Cole then scaled the ladder and grabbed the title to become the first-ever NXT North American Champion.

Opinion: NXT TakeOver: New Orleans got off to an incredible start with this match. There is nothing to complain about here at all, the match was awesome and exceeded expectations. Ricochet made one hell of an NXT debut tonight and showed off his stunning athleticism. It is going to be difficult to top this one tonight. Cole will once again have to compete later in the NXT Tag Team Championship match because Bobby Fish is out with an injury. Give that man a raise.

Shayna Baszler Is The New NXT Women’s Champion

Ember Moon defended her NXT Women’s Championship tonight against Shayna Baszler. There was a live performance of Ember’s entrance music as the NXT Women’s Champion made her way down to the ring. Shayna and Ember got back into the ring at the last second to beat the 10-count. Baszler immediately locked in the Kirifuda Clutch in the ring, but Moon attacked Shayna’s injured arm to break the hold. Shayna locked in a Triangle submission but Moon showed off her strength and Powerbombed Baszler for a two count.

Moon went for another Eclipse but Shayna executed an incredible counter and locked in the Kirifuda Clutch in the middle of the ring. Shayna grabbed on to her own hair for leverage because she couldn’t fully apply the hold due to her injured arm. Moon started to fade as she reached for the ropes. Shayna rolled her back into the middle of the ring while still having the Kirifuda Clutch locked in. The camera zoomed in on Ember’s face as she started to fade. Moon tried once again to break free but Shayna wouldn’t let go. Moon then passed out and Shayna Baszler won the NXT Women’s Championship. After the match, Baszler celebrated with Rousey and Duke in the front row.

Opinion: Shayna Baszler deserved to win this match. She has been great on NXT and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Ember Moon on the main roster in the near future. Moon and Baszler had a tough task trying to follow the Ladder Match, but they wound up putting on a very good bout. I’m looking forward to seeing who can step up in the NXT women’s division to try and take the belt from Baszler.

    Roderick Strong Joined Undisputed Era

Adam Cole was shown backstage being attended to by the medical staff. Kyle O’Reilly showed up and Cole said that he doesn’t know if he can defend the tag titles with him. Mauro Ranallo announced that NXT GM William Regal is not here tonight due to an illness, but it has been determined that Cole must compete in the tag match. Cole & O’Reilly then defended the NXT Tag Team Championships against The Authors of Pain and Roderick Struck & Pete Dunne. The match would also determine the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Kyle O’Reilly came down to the entrance ramp as Cole limped behind with his ribs wrapped up. Dustin Rhodes and Jeff Jarrett were shown in the crowd before the match.

Akam and Rezar attacked Undisputed Era to start off the match. Cole was booted out of the ring and then O’Reilly was booted in the face. AOP launched Dunne out of the ring and then teamed up on O’Reilly to plant him with a Neckbreaker. AOP went for the cover but Cole broke it up. Akam tagged in and kneed Strong in the midsection. O’Reilly got back into the ring and was greeted with a boot to the face. Strong tagged in Dunne and the crowd erupted.

Pete Dunne connected with an Enziguri to Akam and then booted O’Reilly in the side of the head. Dunne connected with a DDT on Rezar for a two count. Strong & Dunne teamed up on Rezar and went for the cover but Akam broke it up.

Strong knocked Akam out of the ring and then threw him into the steel steps. Dunne booted O’Reilly in the head and then hit O’Reilly with a Bitter End. Dunne went for the cover but Roderick Strong betrayed his tag team partner and booted him in the head. Strong then planted Dunne with the End of Heartache and dragged O’Reilly on top of him for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Cole crawled back in the ring with a smile on his face as Strong walked over Dunne. Roderick took off an Undisputed Era arm band on Cole and put his on his arm. Strong lifted Cole and O’Reilly up and the crowd chanted “yes!”. Strong gave them the NXT Tag Team Championships and raised their hands in the ring. Undisputed Era retained their titles and won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Bobby Fish came out to the entrance ramp on crutches and celebrated with Strong, Cole and O’Reilly.

Opinion: The match itself was solid, but the finish was great. The entire crowd chanted “yes!” when Strong turned heel and joined Undisputed Era. Strong is a great replacement for Bobby Fish while he recovers and it just makes sense for him to be a part of Undisputed Era. NXT TakeOver: New Orleans turned out to be a great night for the Undisputed Era. As for AOP, they are a team that is absolutely ready to join the main roster and make an immediate impact.

Aleister Black Won The NXT Championship

Andrade “Cien” Almas defended his NXT Championship against Aleister Black tonight at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Black came down to the ring as the crowd sang along to his entrance music. NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas came down to the ring with Zelina Vega by his side.

Black started out the match in control and connected with a flurry of strikes. Aleister booted Almas out of the ring and then connected with a Moonsault off the second rope outside the ring. Aleister followed him and punched him in the face a couple of times. Black connected with a kick and threw Almas into the ring. Vega hopped up on the ring apron and connected with a Hurricanrana to Black that sent him flying into the ring steps. Andrade and Aleister hit kicks to the face at the same time and both Superstars fell to the canvas. Almas connected with an Arm Drag that sent Black crashing to the turnbuckle. Almas then shoved Black out of the ring and followed it up with an awesome Corkscrew Splash. Almas brought Black back into the ring and attempted a cover but Black kicked out at two.

Almas went for the Hammerlock DDT but Black countered into a roll-up for two. Almas connected with the Double Knees to the face for another two count.

Opinion: What an awesome match this was. The crowd was worn out when the match started, but their energy picked up towards the end and it added to the match. The Aleister Black era in NXT has begun and I cannot wait to see what he does as NXT Champion. Black not only overcame Almas tonight, he was able to withstand the constant interference of Zelina Vega. I’ve said this a few times, but I absolutely love the pairing of Almas and Vega. They work so well together and Vega added a lot to this match.

Johnny Gargano Won His Job Back

Johnny Gargano faced his former tag partner, Tommaso Ciampa, tonight in an Unsanctioned Match inthe main event of NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. If Ciampa won the match, Gargano’s NXT career is over. If Gargano won, he would rejoin NXT’s roster.  Tommaso came down to the ring without entrance music and to a chorus of boos from the crowd. The crowd then chanted “a**hole!” before transitioning into a very loud “you suck!” chant. They then shouted “fu** you Ciampa!” as Tommaso posed on the turnbuckle. Ciampa shouted “this is my moment!” as the chants continued.

Gargano’s Rebel Heart music hit and the NXT crowd erupted. Johnny marched to the ring as Tommaso eagerly waited for him. Gargano got into the ring as the crowd chanted “Johnny Wrestling!”. The bell rang and the two Superstars had a stare down in the ring. Gargano started off the match in control and beatdown Ciampa in the corner. Ciampa then locked in the Cloverleaf submission in the middle of the ring. Gargano reached the ropes but the referee couldn’t break the hold due to it being an Unsanctioned Match. Ciampa broke the hold and started stomping on the back of Gargano’s head. Ciampa then applauded himself and patted himself on the back.

Ciampa shouted that this was his moment and Gargano slapped him in the face. Ciampa hit a slap of his own but then turned around into a Superkick from Gargano. Johnny lifted Ciampa up onto his shoulders and threw him like a dart face-first into the exposed turnbuckle. Gargano hit a Superkick, did a DIY pose and delivered another Superkick to the face for another two count. Gargano and Ciampa battled on the turnbuckle. Tommaso connected with a headbutt and then Powerbombed Gargano onto his knees again off the second rope for another two count.

Ciampa took off his knee brace to expose his knee and got back to his feet. Tommaso charged at Gargano but Johnny grabbed the brace and struck Ciampa on his exposed knee. Gargano snapped a crutch in half and went to bash Ciampa in the head but stopped before hitting him. Both Superstars looked at each other and then Gargano dropped the crutch. Johnny sat next to Ciampa and Tommaso grabbed the brace and swung for his head. Gargano then locked in the Gargano Escape, transitioned into an STF and used the knee brace on Ciampa’s face for the submission victory. After the match, Candice LeRae ran down to the ring and celebrated with Johnny in the ring. With the victory, Johnny Gargano is once again back on the NXT roster.

Opinion: NXT TakeOver: New Orleans was an awesome event tonight. The emotion involved in the match between Gargano and Ciampa was on another level. I don’t know how anyone that is a wrestling fan could not find that match captivating. The use of the knee brace of this match and the story told was also very well done. The show went off the air with a fitting image, it was Gargano holding up the broken crutch and the knee brace. Ciampa is legitimately hated by the crowd and the reaction he got tonight was amazing. Gargano has a connection with the NXT crowd that only few Superstars will ever attain. WrestleMania 34 has a tough act to follow tomorrow night.

    Paul Heyman Praises Tommaso Ciampa

Paul Heyman only throws his name behind talent he sees something in and it’s evident he sees something in Tommaso Ciampa.

The 32-year-old Ciampa has been involved in a buzz-worthy rivalry with his former tag-team partner, Johnny Gargano, on NXT recently. Gargano was expelled from the brand due to his loss in a career vs title match with Andrade “Cien” Almas. Despite this, he has come back to haunt his rival, Ciampa on several occasions.

Gargano has stocked Ciampa in the NXT parking lot, at his home, and anywhere he can get his hands on him. In response, Ciampa requested an unsanctioned match with Gargano which will take place tonight at Takeover: New Orleans.

5 Predictions For NXT TakeOver: New Orleans

NXT TakeOver: New Orleans will air this Saturday night at 8 PM ET on the WWE Network. There will also be a one hour Kickoff Show before the event. Join us on SEScoops for live coverage of NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on this Saturday.

Johnny Gargano will look to get his revenge on Tommaso Ciampa in an Unsanctioned match. Andrade “Cien” Almas will defend the NXT Championship against Aleister Black. EC3, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Velveteen Dream, Adam Cole and Ricochet will battle in a Ladder match to crown the first NXT North American Champion.

Undisputed Era will defend their NXT Tag Team Championships in a Triple Threat match against The Authors of Pain and Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong. Ember Moon will once again defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler.

Here are 5 predictions for NXT TakeOver: New Orleans:

Undisputed Era Will Retain The NXT Tag Titles

Bobby Fish has not been medically cleared to compete at NXT TakeOver: Orleans. Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly tried to weasel their way out of defending the titles on Saturday night by interfering in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Cole and O’Reilly attacked Dunne, Strong and The Authors of Pain and the match ended in a double disqualification. NXT GM William Regal came down to the entrance ramp and announced that Undisputed Era will now defend their titles against both teams in a Triple Threat match.

The Authors of Pain have been ready to join the main roster for some time now. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them show up on SmackDown or RAW during WWE’s Superstar Shake-Up following WrestleMania 34. Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong are a new team that have been impressive so far. Dunne is currently the United Kingdom Champion and I don’t see him staying in a team with Roderick Strong much longer. It just makes sense for Undisputed Era to retain and for them to enter a new feud after NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Shayna Baszler Will Become The New NXT Women’s Champion

Ember Moon successfully defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia on January 27th. Baszler controlled the majority of the match and focused her attack on Moon’s injured left arm. Moon was able to counter an Arm Bar with a roll-up to escape with the victory.

Baszler was granted her rematch on the February 14th episode of NXT. Shayna picked up the win via DQ after Kairi Sane interfered. Shayna had Moon in an Arm Bar in the metal barricade outside the ring and wouldn’t let go. Sane had seen enough and came down for the save.

Shayna Baszler is ready for the belt and I also think Ember Moon is ready to join the main roster. Their first NXT TakeOver match was very entertaining and I’m expecting an even better match between these two Superstars on Saturday night.

Velveteen Dream Will Capture The NXT North American Championship

On the March 28th episode of NXT, GM William Regal announced the North American Championship. EC3 made his debut during the same segment and just assumed that Regal was gifting him the title. Regal stated that everything is earned in NXT and gave EC3 an opportunity to earn the title at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Cole, Dain, Sullivan, Dream and Ricochet were also added to the Ladder match throughout the night.

A case could be made for any of these 6 Superstars to become the first NXT North American Champion. It would be a hell of start in NXT for either EC3 or Ricochet to win the titles. Undisputed Era would become even more powerful if Adam Cole was able to walk out of New Orleans with the belt. Both Dain and Sullivan have been impressive in NXT and absolutely deserve to have the gold around their waist. However, I think Velveteen Dream would make the most interesting champion right now. His character is incredibly unique and he has become very popular amongst NXT fans. Velveteen Dream is already full of himself, I’d love to see how he acts after he becomes NXT North American Champion.

Tommaso Ciampa Will End Johnny Gargano’s NXT Career

Tommaso Ciampa betrayed Johnny Gargano following DIY’s loss last May at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Ciampa then missed a substantial amount of time and Gargano became a star as a singes competitor. Gargano put on an absolute classic with Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. Gargano came up just short and lost his opportunity at the NXT Championship.

After the match, Gargano was comforted by his wife, Candice LaRae on the entrance ramp. The crowd cheered him on as Gargano was clearly heartbroken after the defeat. Ciampa returned and struck Gargano in the back with his crutch. Ciampa would then cost Gargano his spot on the NXT roster and his title rematch on the February 21st episode of NXT.

Ciampa has spent the past few weeks on NXT coming down to the ring and getting frustrated that the crowd was booing him. Gargano blended in with the crowd and attacked Ciampa on the March 21st episode of NXT. Ciampa would then confront NXT GM William Regal about the situation. Regal stated that Ciampa will face Gargano at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in an Unsanctioned match. If Tommaso wins, Johnny Gargano is gone from NXT for good.

I’m expecting this match to be full of emotion and ultimately turn into a war between Ciampa and Gargano. This in an Unsanctioned match, so absolutely anything goes. I want to see tables, chairs, kendo sticks and whatever else these two can grab from under the ring. It should be an incredibly fun match to watch. Ciampa is already hated by NXT fans for what he has done to Gargano. If he ends Gargano’s NXT career, he would instantly become the biggest heel on the show.

Aleister Black Will Become The New NXT Champion

Andrade “Cien” Almas will defend the NXT Championship against Aleister Black this Saturday night at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.  Zelina Vega signed the contract to make the match official on the March 14th episode of NXT. Almas didn’t show up and Black took at is an opportunity to poke fun at him. Almas then attacked Aleister Black in the parking lot on the March 28th episode of NXT.

I have very high expectations for this match. Aleister Black is an absolute rock star in NXT and Almas has raised his game to a whole new level. Zelina Vega has been the perfect manager for Almas and she will most likely attack Aleister Black during this match. I just think it is Aleister Black’s time to become NXT Champion right now. Almas has had a great run with the title since taking it from Drew McIntyre last year at NXT WarGames.

The outcome of this match really doesn’t matter to me. Almas could retain due to outside interference and I’d be fine with it. I cannot envision a scenario where Aleister Black isn’t the NXT Champion in the near future if he loses on Saturday night. The real prediction for this match is that it is going to be absolutely amazing. Every match on the  card for NXT TakeOver: New Orleans has the potential to be special.

Bobby Fish of Undisputed Era has not been medically cleared to compete at NXT TakeOver. Kyle O’Reilly will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships on Saturday night, with his partner most likely being Adam Cole of Undisputed Era. Adam Cole is also a part of the Ladder match for the new North American Championship at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. This issue was brought up during tonight’s episode.

Undisputed Era Will Defend The NXT Tag Team Championships In A Triple Threat Match At NXT TakeOver: New Orleans

The finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic kicked off this week’s episode of NXT. Paul Ellering accompanied The Authors of Pain down to the ring. The new team of Roderick Strong and U.K. Champion Pete Dunne came down to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Dunne stopped at the top of the ramp to admire the Dusty Rhodes Cup that awaited the victors of the match.

Roderick Strong and Akam started off the match. Akam slammed Strong to the mat and quickly tagged in Rezar. Strong connected with a chop and retreated to the corner. Dunne didn’t back down from the challenge and tagged himself in. Dunne and Rezar locked up as NXT went to a commercial break.

When NXT returned, Akam tagged back in and beatdown Pete Dunne. Pete battled back with a couple of chops, but Akam shrugged them off and blasted Dunne with a few fists to the face. Akam applied a side Headlock but Dunne reached the ropes to break the hold. Akam kneed Dunne in the ribs a few times in the corner and tagged Rezar back into the match.

Rezar clubbed Dunne across the back and taunted Strong on the ring apron. Rezar kneed Dunne in the face and tagged in Akam. Akam went for the cover but Dunne kicked out at two. Rezar tagged in and stomped on Dunne’s face for another two count. Rezar bashed away at Dunne’s head for another two count.

Akam tagged in and lost focus for a moment and Dunne capitalized. Dunne snapped back one of his fingers and dove across the ring to tag in Strong. Roderick entered the ring fired up as Rezar tagged in at the same time. Strong knocked Akam out of the ring and sent Rezar to the turnbuckle.

Strong connected with a series of forearms to the face and then Dropkicked Rezar to the canvas. Strong hit a Dropkick through the ropes to Akam and followed it up with an Olympic Slam to Rezar for a two count. Strong kneed Rezar in the face and tagged in Dunne. Pete connected with an Enziguri and then climbed to the top rope. Dunne connected with a stomp to Rezar’s back for another two count.

Pete Dune went for the Triangle but Rezar lifted him up and Akam tagged in. AOP teamed up for a Neckbreaker on Dunne and went for the cover but Strong broke it up. Strong Clotheslined Rezar out of the ring and tagged back in the match. Dunne hit another Enziguri to Akam and followed it up with a Bitter End. Strong went for the cover but Rezar dove into the ring and broke it up at the last second.

Strong and Dunne knocked Rezar to the mat and then both booted Akam in the face. They then both ran into boots to the face by Akam and Rezar and all four Superstars crashed to the canvas as the crowd chanted “NXT!”.

Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly rushed the ring and attacked both teams. The referee called for the bell as Undisputed Era beatdown Strong & Dunne as AOP rolled out of the ring. It was then announced that the referee ruled this as a double disqualification as Undisputed Era retreated up the entrance ramp.

NXT GM William Regal came down to the entrance ramp and stated that Cole and O’Reilly were not smart enough. Regal then announced that Undisputed Era will now defend their NXT Tag Team Championships against Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong and The Authors of Pain in a Triple Threat match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Regal added that the winner of the match at TakeOver will win the Dusty Cup and the NXT Tag Team Championships.

Later on NXT, Cole and O’Reilly caught up with Regal outside Full Sail. Cole complained about being in a 6-man Ladder match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans and thought it was ridiculous that Regal expected him to compete in both matches. Regal said that they had 3 options:

    • Cole can compete in both matches
    • Cole can back out of the Ladder match for the North American Championship
    • Kyle O’Reilly can defend the NXT Tag Team Championships by himself

    Kairi Sane Defeated Vanessa Borne

Kairi Sane faced Vanessa Borne on this week’s episode of NXT. Borne slammed Sane to the mat to start off the match. Vanessa shouted that Kairi wasn’t special and the two Superstars locked up.

Borne stomped on Sane’s foot and applied a Wrist Lock. Sane countered and threw Borne across the ring with an Arm Drag. Sane went for a roll-up for a one count. Borne responded with a Flap Jack and then elbowed Sane in the back of the head a few times for a two count.

Vanessa slammed Kairi’s head into the turnbuckle a couple of times and then bashed her head into the bottom turnbuckle for a two count. Sane ducked under a Clothesline and decked Borne with a Clothesline. Sane got fired up and connected with a sliding Clothesline in the corner. Sane climbed to the top rope and connected with a flying elbow for a two count. Sane quickly climbed back to the top but Borne tripped her up.

Borne went for a Superplex but Sane pushed her and Vanessa got caught up in the ropes. Sane delivered a Double Stomp and followed it up with the Insane Elbow Drop for the pinfall victory.

Lacey Evans Trashed The NXT Women’s Division

Lacey Evans made a statement and said that NXT GM William Regal needs to stop allowing “societal trash” in NXT. Evans brought up Nikki Cross and complained that she kept getting opportunities in NXT. Evans stated that NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon has never made a difference in NXT and hasn’t shown the strength of a woman, other than jumping off the top rope.

A reporter brought up Dakota Kai and Evans dismissed her as if she was nothing. Lacey called Kairi Sane a “pathetic pirate princess” and said that she planned on taking Sane’s opportunity away from her.

It was later announced that Lacey Evans will face Kairi Sane next week on NXT.

Killain Dain & Lars Sullivan Were Interrupted By Dream, EC3, Cole And Ricochet

Lars Sullivan battled Killian Dain in the main event of this week’s episode of NXT. The two giant Superstars had a brief stare down before locking up in the ring. Dain connected with a right hand and Sullivan seemed to enjoy it. Sullivan clubbed Dain across the chest a coupe of forearms and Dain responded by booting Lars out of the ring. Sullivan slammed Dain into the ring apron as NXT went to a commercial break.

    https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/981695464193056768

When NXT returned, the action had returned to the ring and Sullivan was still in control. Lars clubbed Dain with a flurry of forearms and then started bending Dain’s neck in the middle of the ring. Killian powered to his feet but Sullivan stopped his momentum with a knee to the midsection. Dain lifted Sullivan up in a Fireman’s Carry and dropped him to the mat.

Dain connected with a running Senton and went for a Vader Bomb, but Sullivan was able to get his knees up. Lars leveled Dain with a Clothesline and then made his way up to the top rope. Dain got up and punched Sullivan in the face. Killian joined Sullivan on the top rope and the two started trading punches. Dain and Sullivan connected with a headbutt at the same time and both Superstars crashed to the floor.

Velveteen Dream came down to the ring and climbed to the top rope. Adam Cole joined the party and got into the ring. Dream hopped down as Cole posed and shouted “Adam Cole baybay!”. EC3 came down to the ring and started barking at Dream and Cole. Sullivan and Dain got back into the ring as Ricochet’s music hit.

Ricochet sprinted down to the ring and flipped off the ropes and posed in the middle of the ring. The crowd chanted “Ricochet!” as NXT went off the air with the 6 Superstars staring at each other in the ring. Ricochet, EC3, Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain will compete in a Ladder match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans this Saturday night to crown the first NXT North American Champion.

NXT Preview: Finals of the Dusty Rhodes Classic

The show was taped from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

    NXT Preview

    1. Dusty Rhodes Classic Finals
Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong vs the Authors of Pain

      • The AOP will be looking to win their second straight Dusty Rhodes Classic.
      • As for Dunne and Strong, Dunne successfully defended the UK Championship against Strong earlier this year and there could be some tension between the two despite their victory in the semi-finals.
      • With Bobby Fish’s injury now expected to keep him out of Takeover: New Orleans, we should find out more about the next tag-team title opportunity on tonight’s show.
    2. Killian Dain versus Lars Sullivan
      • 2 of the 6 competitors vying for the new Noth American Championship on Saturday will face off in 1-on-1 action tonight.
      • Sullivan is just returning from injury while Dain has been steadily moving up the ranks as a single’s competitor in recent months.
    3. Kairi Sane vs Vanessa Borne
      • Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler may have their eyes on this match-up. A win for Sane could move her into title contention.
      • Sane recently lost to Shayna Baszler on an episode of NXT filmed from Center Stage in Atlanta. She is now 1-1 versus the Queen of Spades in 1-on-1 action, having defeated her in the finals of the Mae Young Classic. If Sane defeats Borne here, and Baszler defeats Moon at Takeover, we could see the rubber match between Baszler and Sane next. Bazler defeating Moon at Takeover is a big “if”, however.
      • As for Borne, she’s 1-2 in NXT single’s matches and went 1-1 in the Mae Young Classic (she won her qualifying match and lost in the first round). Her last match on NXT television was a loss to Nikki Cross in February.

  • WWE Reporting Bobby Fish Injured at NXT Live Event

WWE Reporting Bobby Fish Injured at NXT Live Event

WWE is reporting Bobby Fish may have torn his left ACL at an NXT live event this weekend. They sent out the following release this morning:

“NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish suffered an injury to his left knee at an NXT Live Event over the weekend.”

    Bobby Fish Torn ACL

While WWE is reporting the injury took place over the weekend, it’s likely they are referring to an injury which took place nearly a month ago. The last time Fish wrestled was on a March 4th NXT house show in Indianapolis. It is believed he suffered a knee injury and needed to be helped to the back on that show.

WWE choosing to say the injury occured this weekend as opposed to 4 weeks ago is a bit of a mystery. This could be something done for storyline purposes on NXT, however.

While there is no timetable for his return, a torn ACL is an injury he would need months to recover from.

Triple H Praises Desire of NXT Talent

Last year was a wild ride for the WWE and NXT was certainly no exception. In 2017, Bobby Roode, Drew Mcintyre, and Cien Almas emerged as the cream of the crop on the brand. We also saw Asuka continue her dominance until leaving for Monday Night Raw. A new women’s champion then emerged and her name is Ember Moon.

San Antonio, Orlando, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Houston were all the destinations for NXT’s TakeOver events last year. The WWE Network is taking a look back with its “Best of NXT 2017” special. Here’s a first look with Triple H praising NXT talent:

“The superstars of NXT scratch and claw everyday to be the best. They give it their all to be the best. But the truth is, we cannot do any of it without you. We say it all the time, “We Are NXT.” And we truly mean that. Without the NXT universe, without all of you, we are nothing. You rise us up, you make us bigger, stronger, and better. And that’s what we do. We go to the ring every night, our NXT superstars, and they leave it all out there for all of you.”

Jim Cornette Thrilled With Mark Henry’s WWE HOF Induction

Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette is happy to hear that Mark Henry is on his way to the WWE Hall of Fame. Henry will join the class of 2018 which includes stars such as Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett, The Dudley Boyz, and more. It’s a long time coming for Henry, who has been with the WWE since 1996.

During a recent episode of “The Jim Cornette Experience,” Cornette talked about Henry’s road to this moment:

“The Hall of Fame has gotten one right, and I don’t mean they’ve never gotten one right before but I’m saying this time the good guy wins. To a nicer guy, it couldn’t happen. Mark Henry is going in the WWE Hall of Fame and I am wholeheartedly behind that because I’ve known Mark since he showed up there for 22 years or whatever.”

    Johnny Gargano Surprised Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa slowly made his way down to the ring to start off this week’s episode of NXT. The crowd greeted him with “you suck!” chants as they held up their Johnny Gargano emoji signs. Ciampa paused on the steel steps and looked at the crowd with disgust. Ciampa marched into the ring and demanded a microphone.

The crowd chanted “we want Johnny!” as Ciampa stood silent in the ring. Ciampa brought the microphone to his mouth and the crowd booed. Ciampa dropped the microphone down as a few stray “Ciampa” chants broke out. They were quickly drowned out by “Johnny Wrestling!” chants as Ciampa paced around the ring.

Ciampa finally shouted “He’s gone! Newsflash, he is not walking down that damn isle! He’s gone!”. This only angered the crowd some more and they reigned down “you suck!” chants upon Ciampa. The chant transitioned to “Ciampa sucks!” and Tommaso posed in the ring and soked it all in. Ciampa dropped the microphone and exited the ring. Tommaso slapped the ring apron and took a seat for a moment. Ciampa walked around the outside of the ring and stared at the fans as they mocked him. Ciampa grabbed one of the signs and wiped his arse with it before launching it back at the fan.

Ciampa grabbed a big Gargano sign and ripped it up in front of a young girl. Ciampa started barking at an older woman and she gave him a thumbs down right in his face.

Ciampa grabbed another sign, but he didn’t realize that it was Gargano holding the sign. Johnny jumped the barricade and beat the hell out of Ciampa for a moment. Security rushed the ring and dragged Gargano backstage as Ciampa was shocked in the ring.

Aliyah trapped Moon in the corner and dragged her to the mat by her hair. Aliyah went for the cover as Shayna Baszler made her way to the commentary table. Baszler put her feet on the desk and casually announced that she was running the NXT women’s division.

Ember went for a roll-up but Aliyah kicked out. Moon slammed Aliyah face-first to the mat as Baszler continued to say that nobody can stop her. Ember planted Aliyah with a Samoan Drop and said “this is for you Shayna” before delivering the move. Moon followed it up with an Eclipse for the pinfall victory. (Spoilers) Full Card For NXT Takeover: New Orleans

The card for NXT Takeover: New Orleans during WrestleMania weekend has been finalized. Takeover is shaping up to be a “show of the weekend” contender, especially with the accidental confirmation of one of the top matches on the card.

Over the weekend, WWE inadvertently posted the full match listing on Facebook. One of the contests, perhaps the one fans are most looking forward to, has yet to be announced by the company. The Facebook post was deleted, but it didn’t take long for fans to notice an “unsanctioned” match between Johnny Gargano vs. Tomasso Ciampa on the list.

Gargano and Ciampa have been feuding since Ciampa turned on his former parter last May back at NXT Takeover: Chicago. Ciampa had been working through an injury that ultimately required surgery to repair an ACL tear. Ciampa has been taunting Gargano ever since and even made a few surprise appearances since to deliver beatdowns on his former partner.

With that match set, here’s the final card for NXT Takeover: New Orleans on Saturday night, April 7th.

    NXT Championship Match
Andrade Cien Almas (c) vs Aleister Black

    Unsanctioned match
    Johnny Gargano vs. Tomasso Ciampa

    NXT Women’s Championship Match

  • Report: Two NXT Stars Being Prepped For 205 Live

Report: Two NXT Stars Being Prepped For 205 Live

Two popular NXT stars may be going to 205 Live once their NXT runs are over.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that WWE officials are looking to prep Ricochet and Lio Rush for 205 Live. Ricochet recently signed with WWE and is set for a major match at Takeover: New Orleans (more on that here). Rush hasn’t been booked to be a world beater, but the report says that higher ups are still high on the former indie standout.

205 Live has undergone a bit of a resurgence since reports surfaced claiming that Triple H has taken over the direction of the show. For months, 205 Live was seen as a lite version of Raw and SmackDown Live. The cruiserweights were involved in storylines that fans weren’t invested in. An example of this is Noam Darr’s relationship with Alicia Fox.

In recent episodes, the focus of the show has been catered more towards wrestling. WWE signed Rockstar Spud and repackaged him as Drake Maverick. He is portrayed as the 205 Live general manager. Maverick has been involved in segments where he tells the talent to get serious. Currently, the brand is in the midst of a tournament to determine a new cruiserweight champion.

  • Spoiler: NXT To Introduce New Championship

Spoiler: NXT To Introduce New Championship

It’s official: NXT will be introducing a new championship title at the upcoming Takeover: New Orleans show during WrestleMania weekend.

At Wednesday night’s NXT TV tapings, NXT General Manager William Regal announced the creation of the NXT North American Championship.

The inaugural champion will be decided at Takeover: New Orleans in Six-Man Ladder Match. The participants for that ladder match include Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan and NXT newcomers Ricochet and EC3.

The North American title will be the NXT brand’s 4th championship. Current titles include the NXT Championship, the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championships. In recent years, NXT has evolved from simply a developmental feeder system into a full-fledged touring promotion. The brand features some of the top talent in the world, but there’s only so many performers who can be featured in the NXT Championship hunt. This new ‘secondary’ title gives the rest of NXT’s large roster something else to fight for as they climb the ranks to the main events

NXT TakeOver: New Orleans takes place Saturday night, April 7th and streams live on the WWE Network.

WWE’s Top 10 Moments From SmackDown Live

As seen above, WWE has released their top 10 moments from this week’s episode of SmackDown Live. A lot went down this week including a fatal five way main event with a surprising twist. Sami Zayn has assured Kevin Owens that he will lay down for his best friend and eat the pin should the two emerge as the final men in WWE Fastlane’s main event.

Zayn turned a lot of heads in the SmackDown Live main event last night. With just himself and Owens in the ring, Zayn blasted his friend with a Helluva Kick to score the win. That and more are featured in the video.

Tommaso Ciampa Angered By NXT Fans

Earlier tonight, another episode of NXT aired on the WWE Network. Fresh off of Johnny Gargano’s NXT exit following a last chance defeat to Cien Almas, Ciampa planned to cut a promo to mock his former tag team partner.

Instead, NXT fans didn’t allow him to speak. They constantly booed Ciampa and chanted “We Want Johnny” and “Johnny Wrestling.” Ciampa stormed out of the ring without saying a word. The fans proceeded to keep chanting “leave.” Ciampa then ripped a Gargano sign.

He came across a fan with a Gargano sign and grabbed it from him. Ciampa ripped the sign in half and then brought the pieces into the ring.
