Marty Scurll Teases Interest In Having Luke Harper Join Villain Enterprises

Villain Enterprises leader Marty Scurll has teased interest in recruiting the recently released Luke Harper into his stable. Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension were all recently given their releases from WWE. Following the news that Harper had finally been granted his long-sought release, Scurll uploaded a photo to his Instagram account with a teasing question.

In the post, he shared a photo of himself posing with Harper. He accompanied the picture with a caption, reading: “Villain Enterprises ?! #villain ??”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B51E3Nrglre/?utm_source=ig_embed

Despite his interest in bringing in Harper, there is still a question regarding Scurll’s future in Ring of Honor. His current contract with ROH allegedly expired at the end of November, with the expectation currently being that he will join All Elite Wrestling. Regardless, Scurll has agreed to perform at ROH’s next pay-per-view, Final Battle, which takes place this Friday. He will be teaming up with Villain Enterprise’s stablemate “The Mercenary” Flip Gordon in a matchup against Bandido and Flamita.

WWE is said to be interested in “The Villain,” and if they make him a compelling enough offer, it may not be impossible that Scurll ends up on WWE’s roster. He has also previously expressed his interest in returning to New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

ROH’s next pay-per-view, Final Battle, takes place on Friday 13th December in Baltimore, Maryland.

  • PCO Talks About ROH Morale, Wanting To Compete With WWE And AEW

PCO Talks About ROH Morale, Wanting To Compete With WWE And AEW

Ring of Honor (ROH) wrestler PCO has opened up about the current morale within ROH during an interview with Main Event Radio. During the interview, the number one contender to RUSH’s ROH World Championship also spoke about wanting ROH to be more competitive with WWE and AEW.

“We got a great team spirit in Ring of Honor,” PCO said. “Overall, you don’t see jealousy much. We don’t always travel everyone together, but when we all get together we all get along. The atmosphere in the locker room right now is excellent and we are all there to steal the show and do the best that we can do. We had a big meeting in Baltimore two weeks ago with the office talking about the future. The big Sinclair Broadcasting office, it’s like Titan Tower. They own 217 TV stations across the US. The current state of Ring of Honor is very good.”

He noted that, even though ROH attendance has been down recently, the company is still doing well and is “healthy.” PCO added that they have plenty of people subscribing to HonorClub and are making a lot of merchandise sales. He then stressed how ROH takes cares of its wrestlers, sharing how they have previously covered all medical costs for him and Villain Enterprises leader Marty Scurll. As far as he is concerned, not even WWE treated him as well as ROH.

“We all stay in first-class hotels, they ask you which airline you prefer to fly with. They are so professional, it’s unbelievable. [ROH COO] Joe Koff comes up to you and shakes your hand and asks you how everything is going. They have a lot of heart, and I could only see this company growing and getting better. We have been hurt by losing a lot of talents in a short span of time. We are rebuilding and some new things are coming up for 2020.”

PCO explained how they actively want to compete with promotions like WWE and AEW. He claimed there is a plan in place to allow them to achieve this going forward.

ROH’s next pay-per-view, Final Battle, takes place on Friday 13th December in Baltimore, Maryland.

  • Flip Gordon Reveals Why He Became “The Mercenary”

Flip Gordon Reveals Why He Became “The Mercenary”

Ring of Honor’s Flip Gordon has finally revealed why he joined Marty Scurll’s Villain Enterprises. Gordon turned heel in siding with Scurll, embracing a new attitude as “The Mercenary.”

In an interview with Ring of Honor, Gordon discussed what Scurll did to convince him to join his stable of resident villains. He also revealed why he decided to decline LifeBlood’s offer, doublecrossing them in the process.

“It simply came down to Villain Enterprises having the better offer, and Marty knew I had multiple offers on the table,” Gordon explained. “However, I had to prove myself to Marty that I could be a villain, and what better way than by putting Lifeblood on life support?”

    https://twitter.com/MartyScurll/status/1153350376512528385?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1153350376512528385&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rohwrestling.com%2Fnews%2Fflip-gordon-reveals-why-he-became-mercenary

Gordon then shared how Scurll showed him a merch check from Pro Wrestling Tees. He accompanied it with the promise that he could be making that kind of money, as long as he was willing to become Villain Enterprises’ mercenary.

“He showed me a merch check from Pro Wrestling Tees and said this could be you,” he said. “[Scurll is] a very smart businessman and one of the best wrestlers in the world. So he offered me a position as his understudy.”

Reflecting on what happened in his past that helped him embody “The Mercenary,” Gordon pointed to his time in the Army. He confessed they helped make him who he is today, noting that most of ROH’s roster wouldn’t make it through the Army’s basic training.

  • ROH COO Joe Koff Addresses Kelly Klein Concussion Controversy

ROH COO Joe Koff Addresses Kelly Klein Concussion Controversy

Ring of Honor has been the center of controversy as of late after Kelly Klein, Joey Mercury, and BJ Whitmer all spoke out about issues they have faced with company management. In response, ROH COO Joe Koff recently took part in an interview with SI.com.

Klein’s criticisms of ROH center around the company’s protocol regarding concussions. The 3x WOH Champion suffered a concussion recently and said that no medical personnel was at the event to diagnose her condition and ROH talent is not aware of any existing protocol regarding concussions.

“The issue is that no one received training or protocol to recognize what to do when something is wrong,” Klein said. “The problem is that no one has the protocol, no one has seen the protocol, and no one is in charge of making sure the protocol is followed.”

“No medical personnel were ringside,” said Klein regarding the night she suffered the concussion. “No medical personnel were in the immediate backstage area.”

ROH COO Joe Koff Responds To Kelly Klein’s Criticisms

Speaking with SI.com, Koff said that in contrast to Klein’s statements, a medic was backstage at the show.

“It is not posted, we don’t share documents like that publicly,” said Koff regarding the concussion protocol. “When [Klein suffered her concussion] on October 26, there was a medic there, hired by Ring of Honor, and she got immediate attention once it was known she was feeling anything.”

“The protocol is just this—we recognize the dangers that are inherent in professional wrestling,” Koff continued. “More specifically, the possibility exists of a wrestler suffering a concussion during a match, and we take all injuries very, very seriously. When we are alerted or when we feel there is an injury, we immediately defer to the medical professional on staff.”

Ring of Honor has blocked 3x Women of Honor champion Kelly Klein on Twitter. The promotion’s social media activity is the latest in the ongoing saga between Klein, Joey Mercury, BJ Whitmer and ROH.

Klein noted she had been blocked by ROH on Twitter:

Kelly Klein, BJ Whitmer, and Joey Mercury Voice Concerns With Ring of Honor

Former ROH employee, Joey Mercury, began speaking out about issues he faced in ROH a month ago. BJ Whitmer, who works backstage for AEW after leaving ROH earlier this year and is married to Klein, also took to Twitter to voice his support for Mercury’s statements.

  • Enzo & Big Cass Say ROH “Ghosted” Them

Enzo & Big Cass Say ROH “Ghosted” Them

Enzo and Big Cass invaded the ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden this spring. ROH never brought the duo back, however, and never capitalized on the segment. Enzo and Cass were on an episode of Talk is Jericho that was released recently and spoke about their dealings with Ring of Honor.

Jericho asked Enzo and Cass why the invasion was never followed up on.

“The ball is still on the playing court, I don’t know who’s got it but they dropped it,” Enzo said.

“We got f***ing ghosted,” Cass added. “I cut a promo on the Briscoes on Twitter a few weeks after cause I was shoot hot. Because the person that we were in contact with, we didn’t get a text that said ‘good job, thank you,’ nothing. They didn’t answer our texts, completely f***ing ghosted. I just wanted a ‘thank you.’”

They would continue to talk about how many of the wrestlers didn’t know what was going on and the invasion potentially could have been a dangerous situation for them.

“We trended #1 worldwide over the WWE Hall of Fame, over Bret Hart getting attacked, over the G1 Supercard itself and the NCAA Final Four,” Cass continued.

“I don’t understand how a few fans complaining on Twitter could cause someone to be like ‘Nah, let’s not use them,’ it’s mind-blowing,” he continued.

Cass would continue to say that he and Enzo were supposed to be at the next ROH event in Chicago but they never heard back from ROH management after MSG.

“Got ghosted, then I saw pictures from that event and I don’t know, attendance didn’t seem like it was very good for that show,” Cass said.

This part of the conversation begins around the 47-minute mark:

  • Silas Young Says ROH Takes Care Of Injured Wrestlers

Silas Young Says ROH Takes Care Of Injured Wrestlers

In recent days, Kelly Klein, Joey Mercury, and BJ Whitmer have been publicly critical of how Ring of Honor handles injuries and other personnel matters. ROH wrestler Silas Young spoke to PW Torch and refuted much of what has been reported in recent days.

Young was asked if ROH has medical personnel on-hand for their events.

“I’ve worked for Ring of Honor for almost 7 years now so obviously I can’t remember every show but thinking back I can’t think of a show there hasn’t been medical people there,” Young said.

Young was also asked if the company has a protocol for dealing with concussions.

“I’ve been lucky to not experience any concussions in quite a long time. However, I do know that one of the guys that was talked about in the Newsweek piece was T.K. (T.K. O’Ryan). When he let the office know what was going on he was told to take whatever time was necessary and that he had to get doctors clearance before returning,” Young said.

“He was never pressured to come back early. As a matter a fact, he asked about coming to shows just to hangout and be around what we love doing and the company paid for all the expenses for every loop of shows he wanted to come to. I know this because T.K. and I are good buddies and he was happy that the company would do that for him since it was really an unneeded extra expense.”

Young would continue to say he feels the situation involving Joey Mercury and Kelly Klein has been overblown.

“I know this is a little long-winded, but I feel like the perception of how things are, is so off based and far from what reality is. The craziest part of all this is that Joey and I got along really good and have known each other for over a decade. We have a lot of similar views on wrestling and how it should be. He’s super passionate about the business. In my opinion, I think his passion got a hold of him and may have cost him his job, which honestly sucks because his knowledge and what he brings to the table is immeasurable. I hope this answers any questions you may have had.”

  • ROH Fires Kelly Klein, Injured Women Of Honor Champion

ROH Fires Kelly Klein, Injured Women Of Honor Champion

ROH appears to have fired their current Women Of Honor Champion Kelly Klein.

The news was first confirmed by Klein’s husband BJ Whitmer who took on his Twitter and accused ROH COO Joe Koff of firing the female star via an email:

    https://twitter.com/BJ_Whitmer/status/1197656657637126150

The women’s champion herself has not commented on the matter directly but she has been sharing tweets from her supporters since the report came out.

Though after the news went viral, a representative from the company reached out to media outlets. They issued the following statement, claiming that they haven’t fired Klein and instead just informed her that she won’t be re-signed :

“We normally don’t discuss these matters but since it seems to have been made public — We did not fire Kelly but we did notify her that we would not be re-signing her when her current agreement expires. She is still under contract through the end of the year.”

Klein’s issues with ROH seem to have initiated when the women’s champion spoke out in support of Joey Mercury. Joey himself left the company in October this year and he has been pointing out issues with the promotion on social media recently.

One issue in particular that seems to have upset ROH officials is an email from GM Greg Gilleland, which Mercury published on social media with permission from Kelly. The email revealed that she was making less than $24,000 a year with the company.

It’s unknown how ROH is planning to move forward with the Women’s Title after the release of Kelly but we’ll keep you posted on any update on the situation.

Flamita’s birth name is not a matter of public record and is currently not known.

Former Ring of Honor (ROH) World Champion Matt Taven held the promotion’s top title for 174 days. He initially won the championship back in April during the ROH/New Japan Pro-Wrestling co-production G1 Supercard.

In an interview with Wrestlezone, Taven spoke about dealing with people who have been critical of his championship reign and ROH accomplishments.

“For so long I was scratching to get some sort of sniff at the World Title, and I was doing anything possible, and really letting anyone know that was stepping in my way, you know, ‘Screw you, Melvin, I’m Matt Taven, I’m meant to be in this position.’”

He continued, “[…] then once that happens, instead of hearing the negativity, you start to hear the people that support you a lot louder than you have in the past. And there’s been a big appreciation for the work that I’ve done.”

Reflecting on the support he’s received, Taven highlighted his own loyalty to those who have had his back over the years:

“In reality, I’ve always been loyal to the people that support me and the people that have backed me,” Taven said. “And now that that support has been growing – and I think the appreciation has grown with the loss of the Ring Of Honor World Title, it might seem that I have had a change of attitude, but I’ve always been with the people that support me and I will continue to be that way.”

When it comes to those who are critical of him, his character or his performance, Taven explained that, for him, it’s no longer about proving people wrong. Instead, he wants to have a better appreciation for those who have supported him throughout his career.

Joey Mercury is gone from Ring of Honor and there are those in the company not happy about that fact. WOH World Champion Kelly Klein has issued a statement on Twitter in regard to Mercury’s departure as has her husband and former ROH employee (now with AEW) B.J Whitmer.

A Twitter account believed to be recently created by Joey Mercury is also posting messages online regarding the matter.

Klein is speaking up despite being afraid it could lead to repercussions for her.

Joey Mercury Reportedly Done With Ring Of Honor

Joey Mercury is reportedly done with Ring of Honor (ROH) according to PWInsider. He has been working backstage for the promotion in a creative and producer role since May 2018. He also oversaw ROH’s training dojo.

Mercury has allegedly been removed from both roles following the company’s recent tour in the United Kingdom, Honor United. His departure is described as being a “mutually agreed upon decision” by both parties.

He is still technically contracted to ROH due to the non-compete clause coming into effect. At the time of writing, there is no further information as to when this non-compete clause expires or whether Mercury has aspirations to return to in-ring action or continue his creative/backstage work.

Prior to his time with ROH, Mercury had been a part of WWE both as a Superstar and backstage producer. He was released in 2017, working as a trainer on the independent scene until his hiring by ROH in 2018.

As a WWE Superstar, he was a part of CM Punk’s Straight Edge Society stable. During Seth Rollins’ heel run, Mercury was one half of J&J security alongside Jamie Noble, aligning with The Authority. He is also a three-time WWE Tag Team Champion, having won the belts with his partner, Johnny Nitro.

ROH Moves November Texas Shows To June 2020

Ring of Honor wrestling has announced that they are postponing all shows scheduled for Dallas and San Antonio as part of their Texas tour. The events have been moved to June 2020.

The meet and greet events that were set to take place during the tour will take place as scheduled however, only now they will be free for fans who purchased the tickets for the live even shows.

The tour featured two live events that were scheduled to take place in Dallas on November 9, and in San Antonio on November 10. The dates have now been moved to June 5 and 6, respectively.

The company’s officials cite “operational conflict” as the main reason behind the postponement of the event. The company says they will provide full refunds to everyone who purchased a ticket for the show.

“We are in debt to the fans of Dallas and San Antonio,” ROH General Manager Greg Gilleland said. “We take pride in the passion and commitment of our fans and in return always strive to deliver them the best experience in every way that we can. We are currently working on some big plans for 2020 that involve a tremendous effort by everyone in the company and we vow to return to Texas in a big way.”

  • Jay Lethal Injured During ROH Honor United Tour

Jay Lethal Injured During ROH Honor United Tour

It appears as though former Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal has suffered a broken arm during the promotion’s current Honor United tour in the United Kingdom.

According to PWInsider, the unfortunate incident took place during their show in Bolton, England on October 27th. This event was the third and final night of ROH’s U.K. tour.

The injury supposedly occurred towards the end of his match against Villain Enterprises member PCO. Apparently, Lethal shifted as PCO was landing on him, resulting in his arm being broken. The match ended with PCO defeating Jay Lethal via disqualification after Jonathan Gresham interfered.

    Final Battle

His match against PCO was initially meant to be a tag team matchup. It would have featured Villain Enterprises’ PCO and Brody King teaming up against Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham. King, however, had suffered an injury himself, forcing the change.

Despite breaking his arm, Lethal was still able to participate in the fallout of the match. Gresham claimed that he and Lethal would continue to attack people on every show until ROH officials gave them a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championships. This brought out the current champs, Jay and Mark Briscoe, who brawled with them.

After being pulled apart, Jay Briscoe accepted the challenge. He claimed they would defend their belts against Lethal and Gresham at ROH’s December pay-per-view, Final Battle.

At the time of writing, there is no timeframe as to how long Lethal may be out of action for or whether he will be ready for this matchup in December.

  • Joe Hendry Opens Up About Signing With ROH

Joe Hendry Opens Up About Signing With ROH

Joe Hendry recently became the newest member of the Ring of Honor (ROH) roster. In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Hendry explained why he signed with ROH and his feelings on ROH’s talent pool.

He admitted that he felt that ROH was where he needed to be, crediting his decision to a gut feeling.

“My gut was telling me, ‘This is where I need to be.’ What a lot of people don’t know is, earlier in 2016, I actually flew myself over to a Ring of Honor tryout, so when I’m doing my podcast and I’m talking to my trainees, anyone wanting to get into wrestling, I’m trying to educate them that things don’t always happen right away. You need to work away at things for years,” Hendry said.

He continued, “You look at the roster, the roster is absolutely incredible and it’s with matches that are pushing me technically every single time that I wrestle for Ring of Honor, so it makes me really feel that this is the place that gives you the best of both worlds to really push myself creatively and athletically as well.”

Hendry believes that ROH is “going to go from strength to strength” over the next few years. He’s excited to be a part of that journey, adding that the talent undeniably exists within the promotion.

“[…] the roster is absolutely unbelievable and you shouldn’t pay attention to the Internet as well because I will tell you now, the crowds are growing, they are getting bigger and, every time I go over there, I’m seeing more passion, more intensity from the fans and I think that there’s a momentum here. Ring of Honor’s going to go from strength to strength for the next few years. There’s a reason I chose to be in this company.”

PCO Expected To Re-Sign With Ring of Honor

PCO’s contract with Ring of Honor is expected to expire at the beginning of December. He is expected to remain with the company, however. PCO’s pending free agency was addressed recently in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“PCO’s contract expires on 12/1, but he is expected to stay and ROH has been working hard to keep him and he was very happy how he was treated in the last year,” wrote Dave Meltzer.

PCO is scheduled to face Rush for the ROH World Championship at Final Battle in December. He won a single-elimination tournament to determine a new #1 contender for the title recently won by Rush.

PCO Discusses His Pending Free Agency

The ROH title contender recently discussed his pending free agency on the Wrestling Epicenter podcast.

“Yeah, my contract is coming up soon. But, I just think they’re going to do everything… You know, they’ve got great wrestlers here. Sinclair Broadcasting is huge. They’ve got all kinds of resources and talent in legal and marketing. I think there is a bright, bright future ahead for Ring of Honor,” said PCO. “It is going to be very interesting going into 2020. There has been a lot of big moves that have been made lately. I can’t really say too much. I can’t predict the future that much. But, I can tell you that they are going to be amazing in 2020!”

PCO debuted for Ring of Honor (ROH) last December as a member of Marty Scurll’s Villain Enterprises. Since then he has captured the ROH tag team championships with Brody King, as well as the ROH Six-Man championships with King and Scurll.

During an interview with Wrestling Epicenter, PCO looked back on his time with ROH. He also addressed the fact his contract will soon be expiring.

“It’s been an awesome journey! It has been almost a year now… Wow, what a year, huh?” PCO said. “ROH World Tag Team Champions, ROH World Six-Man Champions, NWA World Tag Team Champions, NWA Crockett Cup, challenging Matt Taven for the Ring of Honor World Championship. Now, I’m a part of the Ring of Honor tournament coming up this weekend in New Orleans—just incredible buzzing. I’ve got to write it up on my calendar as one of the best years of my life and of my entire career.”

He confessed that his contract was set to expire before teasing that ROH has a bright future, promising that the promotion will have an amazing 2020.

    Rebuild

PCO added that he knows what it’s like to have to rebuild, referring to ROH losing members of its roster to other promotions. He shared how, at one point, no one believed in him and what he could do, forcing him to rebuild himself from scratch.

“I think I did pretty good. […] It would be a dream come true if ROH could pop off with PCO all together and the amazing talent and team that we’ve got. I know they’re working on some things. It is going to be very, very interesting. Keep Ring of Honor on your radar.”

PCO recently defeated Marty Scurll in the finals of the number one contender tournament at Glory by Honor. This victory earned him the opportunity to face current ROH World Champion, RUSH, for the title at Final Battle in December.

  • Matt Taven Signs New Deal With ROH

Matt Taven Signs New Deal With ROH

It appears as though former Ring of Honor (ROH) World Champion Matt Taven isn’t going anywhere.

Amidst rumors of interest from WWE, Taven announced that he had no intention of leaving ROH during Saturday night’s TV tapings in Las Vegas. He cut the promo alongside his Kingdom teammates, Vinny Marseglia and TK O’Ryan. Taven lost the ROH World Championship the night prior to RUSH. His contract was reportedly set to expire at the end of the month.

It was noted by Dave Meltzer via Wrestling Observer Radio that Taven’s new deal starts out as double the money a top NXT Superstar would receive. It can then escalate to triple that amount by the end of it. Meltzer added that, despite WWE’s interest, the difference between the two offers was “ridiculous.”

Taven had high praise for ROH during his announcement on Saturday and explained that his story as one of their top talents is far from over. With this new contract in place, it probably won’t take long for Taven to pursue a rematch against the new champion, RUSH.

Matt Taven won the ROH World Championship back in April during the ROH/New Japan Pro-Wrestling co-promoted show, G1 Supercard. He defeated then-champion Jay Lethal and Marty Scurll in a triple-threat ladder match at Madison Square Garden.

    PPV Notes:

Kenny King and Amy Rose attempted to electrocute PCO in their match but this seemed to only strengthen the French-Canadian Frankenstein, who won the match with a choke slam.

Following her WOH World Championship victory, Angelina Love was attacked by Maria Manic, who put several people in a torture rack after the match.

Jonathan Gresham and Jay Lethal seemed to settle their differences after their match. Gresham picked up the win with an octopus stretch and the two seemed to settle their ongoing dispute after but not in any conclusive type of way.

Josh Woods seemed disappointed with his mentor Silas Young’s repeated attempts to cheat during his match against Lifeblood. Vincent even tossed darts into the back of Milonas at one point. Beer City Bruiser would pick up the win for his team by DDT’ing Vincent onto a chair.

Shane Taylor is seemingly no longer contracted to ROH. He now runs Shane Taylor promotions and retained the title here. It sounds as though ROH will now have to negotiate with Shane Taylor promotions for him to defend the title once again.

After the TV title match, Bully Ray came out and bullied everyone, in particular Mark Haskins. He puts Haskins through a table in front of his wife, who was ringside.

Dragon Lee and several of Rush’s other family members were ringside for his world title match and celebrated in the ring with him after he won.
