Former PROGRESS World Champion Announced for Ring of Honor

Ring of Honor have announced that former PROGRESS Wrestling World Champion Mark Haskins will be teaming with the NWA World Champion Nick Aldis to take on The Young Bucks as part of the upcoming Honor United show in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The following are the dates and locations for ROH’s upcoming Honor United tour:

    • May 24, 2018 — Edinburgh Corn Exchange, Edinburgh, Scotland, 7:30 p.m. local time
    • May 26, 2018 — Crystal Palace Sports Centre, London, England, 6 p.m. local time
    • May 27, 2018 — The Doncaster Dome, Doncaster, England, 6 p.m. local time

Haskins is one of the most well respected pros on the UK scene, he has been performing at the highest level for the past decade plus for the likes of Rev Pro, IPW:UK, OTT and the now defunct 5 Star Wrestling. His inclusion on a show of this magnitude and his rumored links to the WWE United Kingdom are a testament to his abilities.

No further information on Haskins’ involvement with ROH going forward has been announced however a stint alongside the likes of ‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay would certainly not be amiss for one of the UK’s finest technical masters.

  • Cody Says Triple H Congratulated Him On Winning ROH World Title

Cody Says Triple H Congratulated Him On Winning ROH World Title

Cody was recently a guest on the Edge and Christian podcast. The 32-year-old is riding high these days after his planned All-In event on September 1st, 2018, sold out in under 30 minutes.

Several topics were discussed on the podcast but one of the more interesting notes involved a comment Cody made regarding Triple H. During the interview, Cody revealed he received a congratulatory text message from Triple H after winning the ROH World Championship.

“The coolest feeling in the world is to have text messages from people in our industry who don’t have text you. Somebody like Triple H telling me ‘congrats’ for winning the ROH World title,” Cody said to Edge and Christian. “It makes what we do real. My Dad always told me that was the only real thing we do is the World Title.”

    Cody Rhodes and Triple H

While Cody has had less than pleasant words for WWE regarding Starrcade or the company patent-claiming the name “Cody Rhodes”, he’s always had high praise for Triple H.

Cody was upset following WWE’s decision to use the name “Starrcade” this fall. He sent out the following in response:

In something which went mildly under the radar, Michael Hayes offered Cody a spot on the card after.

5 days after the offer, Cody signed an exclusive deal with Ring of Honor.

When NXT announced they were bringing back another Dusty creation, War Games, Cody’s reaction was different.

Cody and Triple H have always spoken highly of each other. This fuels speculation Cody left WWE due to his belief Vince McMahon didn’t seem him as a star. It’s possible Triple H agrees with Cody and not Vince. This is even more likely to be the case now considering what Cody has accomplished since leaving the company.

With Vince McMahon expected to spend more time away from WWE in the coming years, it remains to be seen just how long Cody spends outside the promotion.

Cody has brushed off the question of a WWE return when asked. His responses to the question generally state he is happy where he is and happy with what he accomplished during his time in WWE.

Nick Aldis Confirmed For ROH Honor United: Edinburgh

NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis, will be competing in ROH’s upcoming Honor United tour. It will be his first time in Ring of Honor.

News that Nick Aldis will be wrestling for ROH comes on the heels of Billy Corgan revealing the NWA title will be defended at All-In. Cody is scheduled to challenge whoever the champion is at the time. Now it appears, Aldis wants to get a piece of Cody’s Bullet Club teammates beforehand.

Shortly after the All-In Chicago press conference, Aldis seemed upset with Billy Corgan’s announcement. He sent out the following Tweet in response:

It was not long before Ring of Honor officials confirmed the match:

Cody vs. Nick Aldis At All In? Not So Fast

This past weekend, NWA President Billy Corgan made a surprise appearance at the All In press conference from Chicago at the Pro Wrestling Tees store.

Following Corgan’s announcement that the NWA would be involved with All in and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship would be defended at the show, Cody Rhodes approached the podium and announced he’d be the one challenging for the gold.

On Thursday, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis noted on Twitter that he hasn’t signed on the dotted line to face Cody at All In – and there are certain stipulations that must be met in order for him to do so. Like most, he’s after “money & respect.”

Aldis says he wants a match against The Young Bucks at the upcoming Ring Of Honor: Honor United show from Edinburgh, Scotland next week (5/24). Aldis is so confident in his abilities that he’ll let ROH management choose his partner.

    The Bucks Are [All] In

Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks has since replied to Aldis.

Tenille Dashwood Reveals Advice She Received From Cody Rhodes

Former WWE Superstar and current Ring Of Honor (ROH) star Tenille Dashwood (a.k.a. Emma) recently did an interview with TV Insider‘s Scott Fishman to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Dashwood first opened up on her current run with ROH and how she feels it’s going:

“I feel revived and alive again with wrestling. I started this because I love wrestling. Back when I was younger in Australia, I wanted to be a wrestler and loved what I did with WWE.

“It’s completely different now. It’s not five minutes on TV where I’m asked to do such and such. It’s having competitive singles matches every night. There are different opponents every night. I’m meeting new people and improving my own skills every time by working with different people in the ring. It got me going again.”

She also revealed that she got some advice from fellow former WWE star Cody Rhodes recently:

“We talked about how to go about things and make sure I enjoy it and taking advantage of the opportunities I have now. Just to do the things I haven’t been able to do in years.

With WWE you don’t always get to do things the way you like to do them, so now he said to remember that I’m in control and can do things my way. To be doing things for a reason and to wrestle around the world. And not to do it for job, but to do it because you love and enjoy it and travel and meet people and wrestle. It was to remember all that.”

In regards to what’s going on in WWE, Dashwood offered her thoughts on The IIconics making their main roster debut on SmackDown Live:

“I kind of knew it was coming, but I told them not to tell me if it’s happening because I wanted to be in the moment. I called Peyton out. I called her a liar. I said, ‘You’re not at home right now.’ She was like, ‘Oops you got me.’ I said, ‘No, don’t tell me!’ I have been friends with those girls for years.

“I just talked to the girls yesterday. They are on the European tour right now. We always catch up. We stay in contact. They come over my house, and we go into the hot tub. We’re good friends. I’m so excited for them. Seeing them really warms my heart doing what they love. I know what it feels like to have those big moments and that feeling. So, I’m happy for them.”

  • The Young Bucks Reveal Who From WWE They’d Like On “All In”

The Young Bucks Reveal Who From WWE They’d Like On “All In”

Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling stars The Young Bucks recently appeared on Sean Waltman’s X-Pac 1,2,360 podcast to discuss their upcoming “All In” event. During the show, The Young Bucks discussed not only selling out a wrestling show will “All In,” but also selling out a party.

    All In: Wrestling Show Party

Nick: “We have such passionate fans and we wanted to give back to our fans in a way, to make something special for one night.”

Matt: “It’s been very strategic too, how we were going to roll out the whole plan… We knew that we couldn’t just sell a wrestling event. You have to sell more than a wrestling event, you have to sell a feeling, you have to sell a movement. To make them {Fans} feel something like ‘hey this is for you’.

“Because right now is the best professional wrestling that there has ever been. Everybody can work, some of the best matches you’ll ever see… You’ve got to give the people something more than that you know what I mean? And I feel like they agreed with it, they felt it. They wanted to be apart of it. This movement, this change, you know? We wanted to show them, hey this is something new, fresh, and organic.

“It’s an alternative and it may be only celebrated one-time so let’s party. And that’s what we’re selling we’re selling a party and everyone wants to party with us and we’re glad they’re on board.”

    Paul Heyman Congratulating Them

Advocate for WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, recently Tweeted out and praised Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks for selling out the Sears Centre in Chicago for their self-funded event. Nick and Matt were blown away by the sentiment:

Nick: “Almost everyone I’ve looked up to has reached out in a way. That blows my mind because it’s so cool to see some of the guys I grew up praising, praising us now its’ so weird.”

Matt: “For me, I think the Heyman one was really big because it feels like what he did with ECW was kind of a revolutionary new style of wrestling and he changed the wrestling business forever you know what I mean.

“And for him to say that about us I feel like he’s one of the greatest promoters of all time and that’s what we essentially are now… So just to hear from a guy who always has his finger on the pulse of what’s cool in wrestling to give it up to us like that when he didn’t have to was really really cool of him.”

Which WWE Talent They’d Like To Use At All In

The Young Bucks also listed off some WWE names that they wish could be involved in the event if they weren’t under contract with the professional wrestling juggernaut:

Nick: “Oh man that’s a hard one. I’d have to use at least a few AJ Styles and Kevin [Owens}, the first two as well as a Sami Zayn. I’d like to use a lot of the guys though.”

Matt: “Man, Nick kinda stole my answers but I feel like giving a team who hasn’t really got called up, haven’t really had a fair shake, I’d love to have The Revival on the show and do The Young Bucks vs The Revival. That’d be my match probably.”

  • Injured Star Confirmed for ROH Honor United UK Tour

Injured Star Confirmed for ROH Honor United UK Tour

Ring of Honor have confirmed that injured former World Champion Jay Lethal will be making his way to the United Kingdom for the upcoming Honor United UK tour taking place on the following dates:

    • May 24, 2018 — Edinburgh Corn Exchange, Edinburgh, Scotland, 7:30 p.m. local time
    • May 26, 2018 — Crystal Palace Sports Centre, London, England, 6 p.m. local time
    • May 27, 2018 — The Doncaster Dome, Doncaster, England, 6 p.m. local time

As we posted recently, Lethal suffered an injury while working a six-man tag match where EVIL, SANADA & Hiromu Takahashi defeated Kenny King, Colt Cabana & Lethal at May 12th’s War of the Worlds: Toronto in the main event of the show. It was reported that Lethal sustained the injury whilst hitting a sunset flip powerbomb to the floor and that he suffered from “memory issues” after the match. There were fears surrounding the performer’s condition with regards to a possible concussion and he was therefore removed from a planned fatal four way match against King, Matt Taven, and Marty Scurll in Royal Oak, Michigan as a precaution.

Ring of Honor posted the video below to Twitter where Lethal confirms his status for upcoming ROH events and the aforementioned Honor United UK tour.

  • Jay Lethal Suffers Injury At ROH War Of The Worlds: Toronto

Jay Lethal Suffers Injury At ROH War Of The Worlds: Toronto

Former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal has suffered an injury.

The Baltimore-based promotion announced on Saturday, May 12, 2018 that Lethal suffered an injury while working a six-man tag match where EVIL, SANADA & Hiromu Takahashi defeated Kenny King, Colt Cabana & Lethal at Friday’s War of the Worlds: Toronto main event.

Dave Meltzer reported on F4Wonline that the injury occurred when Lethal performed a sunset flip powerbomb spot to the floor and had memory issues after the match.

It was noted that he is doing better but the promotion wanted to keep him off Saturday’s show over the fear that he may have suffered a mild concussion.

Lethal was originally slated to compete in a  four-way match against King, Matt Taven, and Marty Scurll in Royal Oak, Michigan on Saturday night.

The promotion has since announced that SANADA will be replacing him at the show.

ROH wraps up this most recent tour with a set of television tapings in Chicago on Sunday.

  • Cody Tells Vince Russo To Stay Away From All-In

Cody Tells Vince Russo To Stay Away From All-In

Controversial wrestling personality, Vince Russo, has expressed his desire to appear at Bullet Club’s All-In event on September 1st, 2018. For his part, Cody has expressed his strong desire Vince Russo not appear at the event. Cody also recently announced he has booked his dog, Pharoah, for the event.

This dynamic recently led to a series of Twitter messages we have curated for you below. Enjoy!

Cody responded to Russo’s text not long after.

Vince Russo then sent out a series of additional Tweets:

The above Tweet could be construed as Russo saying the style of wrestling at All-In would be too dangerous.

The above Tweet seems to insinuate Russo feels he is being ostracized for having a perspective which deviates from the norm.

Velveteen Dream has been cutting some anti-independent wrestling fan promos as of late.

Russo gives the old “Sorry Not Sorry” line.

It’s not completely clear what Russo’s opposing viewpoints are although he seems to indicate modern wrestling is a little too dangerous.

Cody Books His Dog at Starrcast, Not Vince Russo

Shortly before the exchange with Vince Russo, Cody announced that his Huskie “Pharoah” has been booked for Starrcast. Since Pharoah does not benefit from human currency, proceeds from his appearance will go towards the PAWS Chicago organization. Current speculation states Pharoah is a Good Boy.

  • ROH War of the Worlds Toronto Live Report

ROH War of the Worlds Toronto Live Report

Ring of Honor’s 2nd stop on their War of the Worlds 2018 tour was in Toronto’s Ted Reeve Arena. The show was a legit sellout with tickets on the secondary market going for several times above face value.

The venue holds 1,500 and the live crowd was lively and fun all night. ROH could easily run a bigger venue in the city for these shows.

ROH War of the Worlds Toronto Live Report

    1. IWPG United States Championship Match
Jay White (c) defeated Punishment Martinez

    • This was White’s 3rd straight title defense. He’s one defense away from tying Omega’s record of 4.
    • White got a big pop and streamers during his introduction.
    • Martinez attempted to use a chair against Martinez but Hangman Page ran in to break it up.
    • White hit the Switchblade off the distraction for the win.

    2. Cheeseburger defeated Bully Ray via DQ

    • Before the match, Bully cut a promo on how streamers were stupid. This led to the fans throwing streamers at him and cheering when anything hit him in the head.
    • Fans chanted for streamers and also for D-Von. There were also a few jeers of “Give us hell, Quimby!” from a Simpsons-loving fan behind me.
    • Bully cut a promo calling the fans marks and snowflake millennials.
    • Cheeseburger came out and told Bully he wasn’t afraid of him.
    • Bully beat him up considerably and then got DQ for hitting him with a chair.
    • After the match, Bully made it look as though he was going to powerbomb his opponent on the outside but then simply placed Cheeseburger on the ground and left.

    3. Tetsuya Naito defeated the Beer City Bruiser

    • Surprisingly, the Bruiser got the bulk of the offense in this match.
    • Bruiser got heat from the Canadian crowd by attempting to get a USA chant going.
    • Naito won with two Destinos in a row. The first Destino didn’t land quite as he likely wanted it to, so he went for and hit a second for the win.

    4. the Young Bucks defeated the Super Smash Bros.

    • For those unaware, the Super Smash Bros are stars of Toronto’s independent wrestling scene, specifically for Smash Wrestling. They’ve had a rivalry with the Bucks doing back to 2009 when they met several times in Chikara and Pro Wrestling Guerilla.
    • This was the first time they’ve met in almost 4 years.
    • Fans were into the match from start to finish, with both teams getting chants.
    • Bucks won with a Meltzer Driver and both teams celebrated in the ring after as fans cheered the match.
    • After the match, the Briscoes hit the ring and took out both teams.
    • The Briscoes cut a promo stating they were the ones who run ROH and insulted any fan wearing a Young Bucks or Bullet Club t-shirt.

    5. Women of Honor
Jenny Rose & Tenille Dashwood defeated Xandra Bale and Alexia Nicole

    • Bale and Nicole are two local wrestlers from just outside of Toronto (Thornhill and Woodbridge to be exact). Like the Super Smash Brothers, both Nicole and Bale wrestle consistently for Smash Wrestling in Toronto and surrounding areas.
    • Bale and Nicole were both making their Ring of Honor debuts.
    • Rose was eliminated in the 1st round of the WOH tournament but has since scored a win over Brandi Rhodes on ROH TV.
    • Dashwood was the big star but Rose was the most dominant in the match.
    • Rose hit a backbreaker/Rock bottom combo on Bale for the win.
    • Watching the show back on Honor Club, commentary mentioned Jenny Rose is the next in line for a title shot against Sumie Sakai.

    6. SoCal Uncensored defeated Roppongi 3K

    • In Lowell on Thursday night, the Kingdom defeated SCU for the 6-Man Tag-Team Championships.
    • SCU got back on the winning track in Toronto, defeating Roppongi 3K.
    • Kazarian pinned Rocky Romero after Celebrity Rehab and a spinning kick to the face by Scorpio Sky.
    • On commentary, it was suggested that SCU is now right back in the running for a shot at 6-Man Tag Team Championships.

    7. Ring of Honor TV Championship
Silas Young (c) defeated Hangman Page

    • Before the match, Punishment Martinez attacked Page from behind out of retaliation for Page’s earlier thwarting of Martinez’s attempt to use a chair against Jay White.
    • It looked as though Page would not be able to compete but Young insisted the referee start the match and begin to count him out.
    • Page made it back into the ring but the injuries he suffered before the match gave Young the advantage here.
    • Page hit a moonsault to the outside, springboard Buckshot lariat, but then Silas countered the Right of Passage into Misery for the win.

    8. Cody defeated Jushin Liger

    • While there was some booing of Cody, for the most part, this was a pro-Cody crowd. He got streamers and a big pop.
    • Liger also got a big pop, chants, and streamers. Dueling chants for both wrestlers happened a couple of times.
    • Cody had to cheat to win. He grabbed Liger’s horns and twisted his mask to the side before hitting the Cross Rhodes for the win.

    9. Los InGobernables (Sanada, Evil, and Hiromu Takahashi) w/Bushi defeated Kenny King, Jay Lethal, and Colt Cabana

    • Dalton Castle’s injury resulted in Colt Cabana replacing him in this match.
    • While Cabana and Takahashi were in the ring, Cabana proclaimed he wanted to face Darryl, the stuffed cat. Takahashi then got Darryl, placed him in the ring and then left the ring himself to cheer Darryl on.
    • Cabana danced around the toy cat for a few moments pretending to wrestle him. When the cat fell over and lost his little hat, everyone decided it was time for him to go back to the timekeepers’ table. A “This is Wrestling” chant broke out during this as well.
    • Following Cabana being sprayed in the eyes with poison mist by Bushi, Evil hit the STO on him and got the pin.
    • After the match, Evil grabbed the microphone and welcomed everyone to the Darkness World. He reminded us that everything is evil.
    • Naito then did his normal closing promo, introducing the members of LIJ to close the show.

ROH War of the Worlds Lowell Results: Dalton Castle Serves Brunch!

Ring of Honor kicked off their 4-show War of the Worlds tour last night. The first stop for the promotion was in Lowell, MA. The show aired live for Honor Club subscribers.

ROH War of the Worlds Lowell

    1. the Briscoes defeated Jushin Liger & Flip Gordon

    • Flip was just booked to participate in the Best of the Super Juniors later this month in Japan.
    • Jay Briscoe took Liger out of the match with a low blow. Moments later the Briscoes hit a double-team neck-breaker from the top on Flip for the win.

    2. Tenille Dashwood and Sumie Sakai defeated Deonna Purrazzo & Skylar

    • Brandi Rhodes was originally scheduled for this match but was removed due to injury.
    • Dashwood pinned Skylar with a Shining Wizard.
    • Colt Cabana played up on commentary how it was Dashwood and not WOH Champion, Sumie Sakai, who got the pin for their team. The commentary team speculated Dashwood could be the next in line for a title shot.
    • After the match, Kelly Klein attacked Purrazzo and the two had to be broken up by security.

    Dalton Castle Announcement/Brunch

    • Castle came out to announce he would not be facing Matt Taven for the ROH World Championship as he has been dealing with a back injury.
    • He read out his exact medical diagnosis: “My back is garbage”.
    • Castle made it clear that even though he couldn’t compete that night, he was not relinquishing the title.
    • To appease the fans, Castle said he would serve them all brunch. His music cued up and the Boys came out with buckets full of croissants and tossed them to the live crowd.

    3. Coast 2 Coast defeated the Kingdom w/ Matt Taven

    • Matt Taven was on commentary and he complained about losing out on his ROH World title shot due to Castle’s injury.
    • C2C was coming into this one off of wins over War Machine and the Motor City Machine Guns.
    • While the match was going on, members of SoCal Uncensored came to ringside and stole back their 6-Man tag-team championships which the Kingdom had taken from them (SCU were the legit holders). This allowed Coast 2 Coast to pick up a roll-up victory off the distraction.
    • Taven complained that this was all part of the conspiracy against the Kingdom. He then challenged the members of SoCal Uncensored to face the Kingdom in 6-man action with the belts on the line later that night.

    4. Cheeseburger defeated Bully Ray via Count-Out

    • Bully beat him up with multiple powerbombs while Colt Cabana complained the match should have never been booked.
    • Bully then hit Cheeseburger with a low-blow, walked out of the ring, and got himself counted out. He then returned to the ring, raised Cheeseburger’s hand, then gave him another powerbomb. After power-bombing Cheeseburger one more time on the outside, Bully finally left the ring area.

    5. Marty Scurll, Adam Page, and Cody defeated Roppongi 3K

    • Page appears to be going by just Adam Page now so possibly the Hangman gimmick has been dropped.
    • More dissension between Marty and Cody was teased during this match. This has been building for a little while now.
    • Scurll accidentally super-kicked Burnard the Business Bear. This upset Cody and he and Marty Scurll got into a shoving match before it was broken up by Page.
    • They would put their disagreements aside, however, and Cody pinned Rocky Romero after a Cross Rhodes for the win.
    • After the match, Cody went to check on the bear. Marty seemed to throw streamers on the bear in a sarcastic manner and then walked out on Cody and Page.
    • Scurll continued to jar at Cody from the ramp while Cody was still in the ring.

    6. Evil, Sanada, and Tetsuya Naito defeated Brian Milonas, the Beer City Bruiser, and Silas Young

    • The members of Los InGobernables de Japon picked up the win in this match after Evil pinned Milonas following an STO.
    • After the match, the two teams jarred at each other while LIJ celebrated in the ring.

    7. Chuckie T defeated Jay White and Jay Lethal

    • This match was as a result of the card shuffle due to Castle’s injury/brunch.
    • Lethal gave the Lethal Injection to Jay White but immediately after Taylor rolled up Lethal and got the pin.

    8. ROH 6-Man Tag Team Championships
the Kingdom defeated SoCal Uncensored (c)

    • In a match made earlier in the evening, the Kingdom won back the 6-Man tag-team championships
    • Taven is from the area. He hit the frog splash on Daniels for the win.

    9. the Young Bucks defeated Hiromu Takahashi and Bushi

    • In a high-paced exciting match, the Young Bucks picked up the win in the main event.
    • Near the end of the match, Bushi hit Matt Jackson in the face with the poison mist. The result was that he super-kicked everyone (including his brother) and put a sharpshooter on the referee. Nick finally splashed water in his eyes.
    • The Bucks picked up the win after a Meltzer Driver on Bushi.

Bully Ray Returning To In-Ring Action At Upcoming ROH Event

Ring of Honor has officially announced the in-ring return of Bully Ray.

Since September of last year, the WWE Hall of Famer has taken a step back from being an in-ring competitor as he has only worked two matches since that time.

He worked a New York Tag Team Street Fight in December at the Final Battle PPV event that saw him, and Tommy Dreamer lose to The Briscoes.

The second and most recent match that he worked took place last month at the Supercard Of Honor XII event where he and Cheeseburger went to a no contest with The Dawgs (Rhett Titus & Will Ferrara).

Ring of Honor will kick off their 2018 War of the Worlds tour tomorrow (May 9, 2018) in Lowell, MA at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

The promotion has announced that Ray would take on Cheeseburger in a singles match at the show. The event will stream live for Honorclub subscribers and will feature:

*ROH champion Dalton Castle vs. Matt Taven.

*Cody & Adam Page & Marty Scurll vs. Roppongi 3.0 & Rocky Romero.

  • Cody Announces Plans To Run For Texas State Senate in 2020

Cody Announces Plans To Run For Texas State Senate in 2020

Former Ring of Honor World Champion, Cody, has announced plans to run for the Texas State in 2020. The announcement was made on the season premiere of “Being the Elite” released last night.

Cody recited a speech from a Harry Potter movie into a mirror as if it was a political address and then handed Page a tablet with a “Cody for Texas State Senate 2020” logo.

    Being the Elite Season Premiere

The Young Bucks had previously teased they were finished with Being the Elite following SuperCard of Honor. After a couple weeks hiatus, however, two mini-episodes were released. On last night’s show, Flip Gordon was able to convince the Bucks to bring the show back by pointing out their dwindling merchandise sales.

The first episode of the new season titled “Premier” featured updates on several other characters as well.

Hangman Page ran into Lanny Poffo backstage at an ROH show. Poffo was there to participate in an in-ring segment with Jay Lethal. Page confirmed with Poffo that a long-held rumor about him is indeed true but not the one he was thinking about. On his way out of Poffo’s locker room, Page accidentally hit Jay Lethal in the head while opening the door, knocking him out. When Lethal came to and saw Poffo, he reverted to his old Black Machismo character from TNA.

Last season on the show, Scurll signed a recording contract and announced he was leaving the Elite. A clip was shown in yesterday’s episode showing Scurll getting fired from the record company for just re-hashing old Backstreet Boys songs.

As for Kenny Omega, he was shown receiving a package marked “urgent” from the Young Bucks. The show would end before he opened it, however.

Tickets for All-In go on sale May 13th, 2018. The show takes place September 1st, 2018 from the Sears Center Arena in Chicago.

  • Jay Lethal Gifted Macho Man’s Sunglasses By Lanny Poffo

Jay Lethal Gifted Macho Man’s Sunglasses By Lanny Poffo

Today is Jay Lethal’s 33rd birthday and he couldn’t have celebrated it any better over the weekend. On the 2nd night of Ring of Honor’s 2-night tour of Florida, Lethal brought out a special guest before his match with Shane Taylor.

Lethal introduced the brother of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “The Genius” Lanny Poffo. To the delight of the live fans, the smooth voice of Poffo delivered the same poem he delivered during Savage’s coronation as the Macho King. Poffo also gave Lethal a pair of Macho Man’s famous sunglasses. After putting them on, Lethal transformed into the Black Machismo character once more.

Lethal has always been a huge fan of “Macho Man” Randy Savage. This was most apparent in TNA Wrestling where Lethal famously portrayed his alter-ego of “Black Machismo”. The character, which was an homage to Savage, was widely praised even by the original Macho Man himself.

Jay Lethal Chasing Ring of Honor World Championship

Jay Lethal is a perennial contender for the Ring of Honor World Championship. His only run with the belt thus far lasted for 427 days between June 19th, 2015 and August 19th, 2016.

In his most recent title match, Lethal was unsuccessful in de-throning Dalton Castle at the ROH 16th Anniversary show on March 3rd, 2018 from the Hammerstein Ballroom. Lethal also lost a World Title match to Cody back in December. That match took place on a Revolution Pro show from London.

Last weekend in Columbus, Lethal defeated “the Octopus” Jonathan Gresham at ROH’s Masters of the Craft 2018. Lethal then went 2-0 this weekend on the promotion’s weekend tour of Florida. He defeated Scorpio Sky in West Palm Beach on Friday and then defeated Shane Taylor on Saturday from Lakeland Florida.

The event in Lakeland was the last for ROH until they begin the War of the Worlds tour in Lowell on May 9th.

  • Jay White To Defend IWGP US Title Against Punishment Martinez

Jay White To Defend IWGP US Title Against Punishment Martinez

After successfully defending his IWGP United States Championship against David Finlay on Tuesday, Jay White already knows who will challenge for his belt next. Ring of Honor announced today that Punishment Martinez has been granted a title shot at the May 11th War of the Worlds show from Toronto.

White and Martinez previously engaged in a feud on ROH programming last year. They wrestled each other 3x during White’s 2017 summer excursion to ROH. Martinez won 2 of the 3 matches including the Las Vegas Street Fight at Death Before Dishonor XV.

    IWGP United States Championship
“Switchblade” Jay White vs. Punishment Martinez

White is just the 2nd ever holder of the IWGP United States Championship. The title was introduced last year at NJPW’s Long Beach shows.

Kenny Omega defeated Tomohiro Ishii in the finals of the 2-day tournament to crown an inaugural champion. He then defended the title 4x successfully with wins over Juice Robinson, Yoshi-Hashi, Beretta, and Chris Jericho. Omega then dropped the title to White at the New Beginning in Sapporo on January 28th, 2018.

After winning the title from Omega, White successfully defended it against Hangman Page at Strong Style Evolved in Long Beach. His win over Finlay on Tuesday main event’ed the Road to Wrestling Dontaku show from Korakuen Hall.

As for Punishment Martinez, the 36-year-old is someone ROH has kept strong ever since his arrival in 2015. He won the Survival of the Fittest tournament in 2017 but dropped his World Title match to Dalton Castle. Martinez lost a #1 contenders match to Marty Scurll at the ROH 16th Anniversary show on March 9th this year. He later defeated Tomohiro Ishii at Supercard of Honor XII.

The IWGP United States Championship is defended on both ROH and NJPW shows, though this will be just the 2nd time the title will be up for grabs on an ROH show. Kenny Omega defended the title against Yoshi-Hashi at War of the Worlds: Chicago last year.

  • ROH Backstage Fight: New Details Emerge

ROH Backstage Fight: New Details Emerge

Last weekend, several wrestlers from ROH Tweeted that a backstage fight had taken place. The company was in Pittsburgh for “Steel City Excellence” on Saturday, which was also a set of TV Tapings for ROH TV.

Saturday afternoon, several Tweets from ROH wrestlers started to come out which indicated a backstage altercation had taken place. Some of those Tweets have since been deleted, however. All that was known at the time was that a scuffle had occurred and Cody’s chipotle got trampled in the process.

New Details on Backstage ROH Fight

A recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some new light on what happened.

During the company’s show in Pittsburgh on Saturday, an extra (local talent) was sitting in a chair reserved for Christopher Daniels. According to the Observer, the wrestler was asked to move but did not respond kindly. A fight ended up breaking out and Flip Gordon apparently saved the day by subduing the wrestler quickly. Other than Flip, no ROH regulars were involved and no one was hurt.

Cody would later Tweet that he is now considering booking Flip for All-In but it has since been deleted. Brandi Rhodes and Flip Gordon have been getting pretty tight lately, by the way.

    ROH This Weekend

The ROH shows this weekend were reportedly not well attended. The Observer reported the shows only drew around 700 fans each. The company is coming off their most well-attended show of all time, however, and all of their recent promotion had been geared towards that show.

Next up for ROH is two shows from Florida on the 28th and 29th. The “Bound for Honor” 2-day tour in Florida begins in West Palm Beach on the 27th and continues to Lakeland on the 28th.

On the 27th, the Young Bucks and Hangman Page take on the Kingdom and Punishment Martinez takes on Cody.

The show in Lakeland will be headlined by an 8-man tag-team match featuring the champions of ROH (Dalton Castle, Silas Young, the Briscoes) versus 4 members of Bullet Club.

  • The Young Bucks Ending “Being the Elite”?

The Young Bucks Ending “Being the Elite”?

Last week, Bullet Club’s “the Elite” released the 100th episode of their YouTube series, “Being the Elite”. Although they had previously been releasing episodes on Monday nights, no episode was released this week. As the last episode was named “Finale”, there is speculation the popular series is done.

Matt and Nick Jackson recently spoke with the Sporting News about the future of the series. They recorded the interview backstage at ROH’s TV tapings in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

“I think it’s poetic if we did end it at 100 episodes,” Nick Jackson told the Sporting News, “but everyone else says we shouldn’t.”

“We’re like, man, 100 episodes, we can end it when it’s the hottest,” Matt Jackson added. “It almost feels like we should end it.”

“On the other hand, it’s kind of undecided, but I feel like we’d be crazy not to bring it back at some point. It’s become such a popular tool for us now.”

    Being the Elite: 100 Episodes

The series has been widely successful and provides a platform for members of the faction to tell stories. Much of what has been built up in terms of the Bullet Club 2018 Civil War has taken place on “Being the Elite”.

“We had a guy at the airport on our way here stop me, and he puts his hand out and says, ‘I love your YouTube videos,’” Matt Jackson added. “He didn’t mention anything about pro wrestling.”

Originally, the series was just meant to follow the Young Bucks around as they travelled to shows.

“We did that for like six months,” Nick Jackson said. “Then Matt had the idea of adding stories to the mix. … People started to love it and it grew a lot faster. I think we found our calling.

“It started with me getting sick in real life. We knew Adam [Cole] was leaving the Bullet Club, so Matt said, ‘Why don’t we say Adam poisoned you?’ I said, ‘That’s a brilliant idea. Let’s try it.’ The fans loved it. From there we just went nuts.”

The last episode of Being the Elite ended with Cody finding himself alone in the Elite locker room. While he had defeated Kenny Omega, Cody was left to ponder all that he had lost along the way.

  • ROH Apologizes for Supercard of Honor Streaming Issues, Offers Merch Discounts

ROH Apologizes for Supercard of Honor Streaming Issues, Offers Merch Discounts

Many Ring of Honor fans attempted to log in to their Honor Club accounts to watch Supercard of Honor XII this weekend. Unfortunately, the demand was so great that some fans were unable to login to their accounts during the live show.

ROH has sent out an apology to fans who experienced these issues and are offering discounts at their pro shop as a result.

    Ring of Honor Streaming Issues

The company’s streaming service only launched earlier this year. While there were some launch day problems, the service has been generally well-reviewed. Not only are ROH PPVs available on Honor Club but all of the company’s non-televised shows as well.

“It is with regret that we continued to face issues with our stream at Supercard of Honor,” the company wrote on their website.

ROH also went into great detail regarding the cause of their streaming problems:

“The current belief is that a bug in the app caused certain IPs to infinitely and rapidly ping the servers with requests, leading to failure even as resources were added. This doesn’t change that it is ultimately our responsibility to deliver what you deserve and we will not stop improving until you get that and more.”

  • Cody Rhodes Hypes ROH Supercard of Honor Match with Kenny Omega

Cody Rhodes Hypes ROH Supercard of Honor Match with Kenny Omega

Cody Rhodes has made his final comments before arguably Ring of Honor’s biggest event of the year. Supercard of Honor takes place tonight from the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans and is a co-branded event with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Cody, who has declared himself the ‘Leader’ of the Bullet Club faction will be taking on Kenny Omega, the man who many have felt has been positioned at the top of the NJPW stable since AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson left the company for WWE.

Cody stated on Twitter that his bout tonight will be “the match of the weekend.” With the hype surrounding this NJPW/ROH crossover feud and the in fighting/politics of the Bullet Club stable over the past few months it is difficult to argue that many matches outside of the WWE bubble have as much intrigue as this. This will also be the very first time that the two stars have faced one on one anywhere in the world.

You can order Supercard of Honor via the FITE TV App for $24.99. Full details can be found on FITE’s official website.

  • Jay Lethal Offers Praise To Dalton Castle, Talks Teaming With Hiroshi Tanahashi

Jay Lethal Offers Praise To Dalton Castle, Talks Teaming With Hiroshi Tanahashi

Former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal has made his name known while in the Baltimore-based promotion as he a record-setting two-time and longest reigning ROH World Television Champion.

Lethal spoke with Brian Fritz on Sporting News to talk about various topics. During the interview, he was asked about meeting Dalton Castle at a 2013 Ring of Honor tryout camp.

If you recall, On March 9, 2018, at Ring of Honor’s 16th Anniversary show, Castle successfully retained the title against Lethal.

“All he was looking for, in my opinion, was his character because I saw when he came to the Ring of Honor tryout, the ability was there,” Lethal recalled. “He was looking for something to capture the audience and he’s found that very quickly.

“He is the world champion for a reason. It’s not like someone said ‘look, Dalton’s doing really good, he’s stepped his game up’. No, I don’t think that was ever said. I think from day one Dalton has been amazing and someone maybe said ‘this guy is amazing, we’re going to recognize that.’ I don’t think it was a thing where we saw his growth. I think Dalton has always been amazing which is why he’s the world champion.”

Ring of Honor will hold their Supercard of Honor XIII event on Saturday night in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Lakefront Arena.

The event will air on traditional PPV outlets and the FITE TV app. He’s slated to team up with Hiroshi Tanahashi at the event.

“It’s an honor to team with Tanahashi but I would really love a singles match with Tanahashi,” he said. “The New Japan wrestling fan in me would really love a singles match with me and Tanahashi. Deep down inside, I want to wrestle anybody.”
