Dalton Castle Offers High Praise To Jay Lethal, Talks Title Defense At ROH Supercard Of Honor

Ring of Honor World Champion Dalton Castle has had a great run over the last few months and is now the top guy of the Baltimore-based promotion.

On December 15 at the Final Battle pay-per-view event, Castle defeated Cody to win the ROH World Championship for the first time. On March 9 at Ring of Honor’s 16th Anniversary show, Castle successfully retained the title against former champion Jay Lethal.

Castle recently spoke with Brian Fritz of Sporting News to talk about various topics. During the interview, he talked about winning the world title and offered high praise to Lethal.

“Jay Lethal, in my opinion, is one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. It’s amazing that we have him on the roster at Ring of Honor. It’s incredible that I get to share the ring with him as often as I do. I have not got to face him as often I would like to. When I walked into Ring of Honor, my second match at Ring of Honor TV, was against him for his Television title. It was a short one, but it was not lost on me, the privilege is was being in the ring with him. Then I worked my ass off and here we are three years later, I now Ring of Honor World Champion and he was challenging me for my title. To be in the ring with a talent like him is great. To do it on such a platform and spotlight of the main event at the 16th anniversary show was beyond what I could have imagined happening four years ago. It was great. And to show the world that I can hang with such a talent like him and come out the victor, it’s just one step closer to showing everybody I am as good as I claim to be.”

Now, Castle is slated to make his next ROH World Title defense against Marty Scurll this Saturday night (April 7th) at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Lakefront Arena.

“I believe we wrestled each other a few months ago in San Antonio, Texas on a Ring of Honor tour show. We had a singles then. When Marty came in to Ring of Honor, I was his first match in the United Kingdom. It was his start moving forward. He had a really good run in his first loop of shows for us and ended up winning the Ring of Honor Television title on the final night of the tour. Then, we crossed paths a couple of times throughout the year. And here we are, me with the world title and him coming after me.”

“It’s going to be great. Marty understands that it’s important to be entertaining. I never want to go out there and not have the best performance of my life. Everytime we’ve been in the ring together, I feel like it’s been a lot of fun but as far an opportunity goes, this is just an opportunity for him to perform on this stage. He’s not bigger than me. He’s not faster than me. He’s not stronger than me. He is not better than me but he definitely is a big star and this is going to be a big match.”

Tenille Dashwood Comments on Difference Between WWE and ROH

Tenille Dashwood (FKA Emma) has only been with ROH’s Women of Honor division for two months but she has already made a big impression. Currently, Dashwood is in the semi-finals of the promotion’s tournament to crown a Women of Honor champion. Dashwood defeated Brandi Rhodes in the quarter-finals.

Tenille Dashwood on Difference Between ROH and WWE

ScreenRant recently caught up with Dashwood and asked about how things have changed for her since she left WWE.

“Of course there are differences [between WWE and ROH],” said Dashwood. “I think WWE is very much entertainment, and obviously Ring of Honor is too, but I think you see a little more wrestling in Ring of Honor.”

Dashwood will wrestle Sumie Sakai in the semi-finals of the tournament. That match will take place on the SuperCard of Honor preshow this weekend. Should Dashwood be successful in that match, she would move on to face the winner of Kelly Kelin versus Mayu Iwatani. The finals of the tournament will take place on the SuperCard of Honor main show later the same night.

“I’m expecting to be in the finals, that means two matches in one night,” says Dashwood. “I’ve done three matches a night in NXT, so maybe I have that over the other competitors, maybe they’re not used to that. So I’ve thought ahead, I’ve taken that into account, and I’ll enjoy the moment, and in the end, I’ll walk out as champion.”

  • Cody Has Two Women in Mind to Join Bullet Club

Cody Has Two Women in Mind to Join Bullet Club

Cody believes he is the leader of Bullet Club and that is why he recently attempted to change the faction’s logo. Some of his stablemates appear to be growing frustrated with the former ROH World Champion.

In a recent Q&A session with ROH fans, Cody revealed he is looking to recruit two women into Bullet Club.

Cody on Recruiting Women into Bullet Club

When asked, here is what Cody had to say on the subject:

“I’m going to recruit women to the Bullet Club and I have two in mind. Two in mind, which is a secret. All this nonsense, ‘Well, New Japan doesn’t have women,’ well, the world has women. Women of Honor. We have the tournament finals at Supercard of Honor, come on! The Bullet Club needs women and not just, ‘Oh, they’re kinda in, but kinda not,’ no, they need to be official members brought into the fold of the Bullet Club.”

Rumored names of female wrestlers for Bullet Club include Tenille Dashwood. She addressed these rumors last week:

“They would have to do some sweet talking and we’d have to work some things out. You never know what’s ahead. I’m not saying yes or no, I’m saying it depends.”

Another rumored name includes Summer Rae, who tweeted this out not long after her WWE release:

    https://twitter.com/MattJackson13/status/932056624931528704

Further possible names include members of the WOH roster such as Kelly Klein or Mandy Leon. Cody may also be referring to Brandi Rhodes, although it is not clear if she is already officially a member of the faction or not.

Amber Gallows was the first ever female member of Bullet Club.

Ring of Honor has booked an 8-man tag-team match to main event their upcoming “Bound for Honor” show in Lakeland Florida. The event takes place April 28th, 2018 from the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

The show will air live for Honor Club subscribers.

    Bullet Club vs ROH Champions

The match will involve 4 Bullet Club members (chosen by the faction) to go up against whatever 4 men hold the company’s main titles. The ROH World Champion, TV Champion, and 2-on-2 tag champions will make up the ROH team.

As of right now, the ROH team would consist of Dalton Castle, Kenny King, and the Briscoes but that could change between now and April 28th, 2018.

  • ROH COO Joe Koff: Supercard of Honor XII Will be a Sellout

ROH COO Joe Koff: Supercard of Honor XII Will be a Sellout

Ring of Honor COO Joe Koff believes Supercard of Honor XII will be a sellout.

Supercard of Honor XII takes place on April 7 live from the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the main event, Kenny Omega will take on Cody in a bout that may give us some clarity on the direction of Bullet Club. Also set for the card, ROH World champion Dalton Castle will defend his title against Marty Scurll.

The card is also stacked with New Japan Pro Wrestling talent such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kota Ibushi, and Tomohiro Ishii. The first Women of Honor champion will also be crowned following semi-finals matches and of course the finals in the Women of Honor tournament.

Speaking to Cageside Seats, Koff said the event will sell out:

“We’re getting prepared. It’s our biggest crowd to date. We’re trying to anticipate the crowd and be ready for them in every way we can. The building is set up for roughly about 6,000. We’re coming up on that number. It’s pretty exciting. It will be a sellout. It’s amazing, too, considering last year when we ran Lakeland, which was a good hour to hour-and-a-half from Orlando for WrestleMania week. The number escapes me, but it was well over 3,000. And I said, Oh my god, that was amazing. One year later, we’ve now almost doubled our crowd. It’s pretty exciting.”

  • Cody Changing Bullet Club Logo, David Arquette is All In?

Cody Changing Bullet Club Logo, David Arquette is All In?

Cody Promises Change To Bullet Club Logo

Cody has quickly become a polarizing heel in wrestling. From turning on Kenny Omega, to tearing the Bullet Club apart, Cody has garnered some serious heat. His recent announcement has created some more buzz and even hatred.

The former Ring of Honor World champion recently took to Twitter to claim he is changing the Bullet Club logo next week. The logo has become iconic even outside of the wrestling world. In it, fans have even been seen wearing the faction’s shirts at WWE events. We’re not talking just one or two people, either.

    Here is Cody’s tweet:

    Is David Arquette “All In?”

The All In event may be getting a former WCW World champion, although it’s not one who many are expecting. Actor David Arquette is still a huge fan of wrestling. In fact, on an episode of Monday Night Raw back in 2010, he teamed with Alex Riley to take on Randy Orton. It didn’t go so well for Arquette, as he was powerbombed through a table.

Arquette recently went on Twitter to show support for Matt Hardy’s new shirt on WWE Shop by saying, “I’m in.” Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks asked Arquette if he was “All In.” Arquette replied with the following:

  • Tenille Dashwood on Joining Bullet Club: ‘You Never Know What’s Ahead’

Tenille Dashwood on Joining Bullet Club: ‘You Never Know What’s Ahead’

Tenille Dashwood has heard the demand for her arrival in Bullet Club.

For over six years, Dashwood performed for the WWE. In August 2012, she used the in-ring name “Emma.” Dashwood was released back in Oct. 2017 following her match against Asuka at the TLC pay-per-view.

Dashwood has quickly found success in the independent circuit and Ring of Honor. She is a heavy favorite to win the Women of Honor tournament. The winner of the tourney will become the first ROH Women of Honor champion. Dashwood will meet Sumie Sakai in a semi-finals match at Supercard of Honor XII. The winner will advance to the finals that same night on April 7.

During a recent ROH live stream, Cody said he wants to add women to the Bullet Club and has two names in mind. He didn’t reveal those names, but Dashwood has been someone who fans have been wanting to see represent the faction.

During an interview with WrestleZone.com, Dashwood talked about potentially joining the Bullet Club:

“It all just depends on the situation. They would have to do some sweet talking and we’d have to work some things out. You never know what’s ahead. I’m not saying yes or no, I’m saying it depends.”

The Young Bucks To Team with Flip Gordon at SuperCard of Honor

Fans of “Being the Elite” will find it somewhat bizarre that Flip Gordon will be teaming with the Young Bucks at Supercard of Honor but that is what is happening. Gordon and the Bucks have been aligned on Ring of Honor television lately despite the Jackson brothers’ history or ribbing Gordon.

Ring of Honor officially announced today that Flip Gordon will team with the Young Bucks to take on SoCal Uncensored for the ROH 6-Man tag-team championships at SuperCard of Honor XII on April 7th, 2018. Adam Page Talks Working With The Young Bucks, Reflects On His Career

Ring of Honor/New Japan Pro Wrestling talent Adam Page spoke with Sporting News for a new interview to talk about the Bullet Club and more. Over the last year or so, Page has elevated his game and been pushed into a more prominent role while being a member of the Bull Club.

Page’s next big match is slated to go down next month when he takes on international mega-star Kota Ibushi at ROH’s Supercard of Honor event on April 7th from New Orleans, Louisiana. In this interview, he talked about having the time of his career.

“This is the most fun I’ve had in my career. The most money I’ve made in my career. This is the best time in my career, and I don’t mean that as if the next year won’t be or the years after that. So far, it’s been a steady incline in everything that I do. I’ve enjoyed this time, and it should be continuing getting bigger.”

He also opened up about working with Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks.

“When we have these kinds of matches — myself, Matt and Nick — we go all out, maybe even more so than we have to or should. I think that’s what people can expect. It should be wild. The six-man titles are on the line so we have a lot to fight for.”

“[I’m] maybe more confident, maybe more willing to do things like moonsaults off of a balcony or whatever it may be. I’m fortunate that I’m in a good place right now. Fans are really responding to me now so I guess now is the time for me to give back and do that kind of stuff with a little less hesitation. … Around Christmas time, I passed by a Hot Topic at the mall. They had the Christmas decorations up in the front of the store with AC/DC and Metallica, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Bullet Club. So, we are certainly a part of pop culture. I think its Bullet Club stuff and what we’re doing now in wrestling is, honestly, such a big part of pop culture that it’s kind of hard to avoid, even if you don’t follow wrestling.”

Kenny Omega Attacks Cody at ROH 16th Anniversary

Kenny Omega made a surprise appearance at the ROH 16th Anniversary show.

At the show, Cody was able to defeat Matt Taven and retrieve his Ring of Honor. Lately, Cody has introduced a bear named Bury to Bullet Club. Unfortunately for him, Omega was dressed as the bear on this night.

Cody went to hug Bury, but was shoved down to the canvas. That’s when he realized something was off. Omega unmasked and blasted Cody with the V-Trigger. While the former IWGP United States Heavyweight champion was posing, Brandi turned him around and kissed him.

Cody has been playing mind games with Kota Ibushi and Omega since they reformed as the Golden Lovers. Cody planted a kiss on Ibushi on night two of Honor Rising. Omega and Cody will do battle at Supercard of Honor XII on April 7. That event will take place inside the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

Omega and Cody have been involved in a feud since January. While the seeds were planted all the way back in June at Dominion, Cody made the turn on night two of The New Beginning in Sapporo. He hit Omega with a Crossroads and went to hit him with a chair. Ibushi ended up making the save.

First off, Austin Aries made his return to ROH after Kenny King successfully defended his TV title against Silas Young. Aries came out wearing the multiple titles he’s earned in recent months. He laid out a challenge for King’s TV title, because he’s never had the gold.

Also on the show, Kenny Omega made a surprise appearance. He disguised himself as the Bullet Club bear. He shoved Cody to the mat and delivered a V-Trigger. In an effort to play mind games, Brandi planted a kiss on Omega.

  • Christopher Daniels Reveals His ROH Mount Rushmore

Christopher Daniels Reveals His ROH Mount Rushmore

Ring Of Honor’s (ROH) Christopher Daniels recently did an interview with WrestleZone to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Daniels first discussed getting a role as a stunt performer in Netflix’s series “Love”:

“Chavo Guerrero is a stunt coordinator, he was the stunt coordinator for GLOW, and when Love needed a wrestling scene they knew that he was someone that has worked with wrestlers and stunt people at the same time. Chavo put myself, Tyrus, Lil’ Cholo from Lucha Underground is in it, and Lisa Marie Varon is in it, but that’s how it all got set up. Chavo knows that there’s a lot of us out here in [Los Angeles], and whenever there’s a wrestling scene he kind of just throws his friends together and gets us in there.”

The former ROH World Champion was then asked if he takes roles based on appeal to his fanbase, or if he is simply trying to build up his resume as a stunt performer:

“For me, someone that is entertaining the idea of branching out into stunt work in the future, it’s just an opportunity to sort of hone my skills and get to know more stunt coordinators and stunt performers in the Hollywood scene. I understand, and I hope wrestling fans understand that these shows may not be on the top lists of fans that watch me in Ring Of Honor, but they understand the difference between Christopher Daniels of Ring Of Honor and Christopher Daniels as a stunt man.

“We’re playing different roles and I’m serving a different show and a different storyteller. It doesn’t bother me to go into stunt work, and if [ROH fans] are watching Love because I’m on it, hopefully they enjoy the show, and it might get them into watching the entire series if they like the episode that we’re on.”

Daniels then discussed facing The Hung Bucks (The Young Bucks and Adam Page) at ROH’s 16th Anniversary show this weekend:

“The feud between myself and Frankie [Kazarian] and the Young Bucks has been going on for a couple of years now. As far as our toughest opponents, I have to throw the Young Bucks up at the top of the list. So, now with them as the Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Adam Page, we recently recruited Scorpio Sky as a fellow So-Cal professional wrestler to be on our side, so over the course of the past few months we’ve had so many interactions with them were Friday is going to be a Vegas Street Fight.

“Basically there’s no rules, and anything goes. The tensions between us and them have escalated to the point where there’s going to be weapons, there’s probably going to be blood, but I feel confident in myself, Frankie and Scorpio where we’re going to come out as the new Six-Man Tag Team Champions.”

When asked about his Mount Rushmore of ROH wrestlers, Daniels offered up names such as Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal, and Bryan Danielson:

“I feel like probably the top four guys for me are, and I’m not going to name myself, that’d be wildly arrogant. I’d have to put Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Jay Briscoe and Jay Lethal. It’s tough to narrow it down to four, because you leave out guys like Nigel McGuinness, who deserves to be in that conversation. You leave out Low Ki, Austin Aries as the first two-time champion, or Adam Cole as the first three-time champion.

“All of those guys deserve to be in that conversation, but certainly looking back at the history of Ring Of Honor, the first two guys, Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson are locks. And what Jay Briscoe and Jay Lethal have meant to Ring Of Honor, especially over the past decade, it certainly says a lot about their hard work and their effort and what they brought to this company as a whole.”

  • Hangman Page Denies Bullet Club Falling Apart, Matt Taven Calls NXT ‘ROH Lite’

Hangman Page Denies Bullet Club Falling Apart, Matt Taven Calls NXT ‘ROH Lite’

Hangman Page Says Bullet Club Is Fine

Bullet Club has seen better days. The stable was once ruling New Japan Pro Wrestling under the leadership of Prince Devitt and soon after that, AJ Styles. Kenny Omega took the leadership role in January 2016.

Things were looking good under Omega’s guidance before “The Elite” took the spotlight. Soon, the original members of Bullet Club became an afterthought and all the attention was on Omega, Cody, The Young Bucks, Marty Scurll, and Hangman Page. To make matters worse, Cody has been fighting with Omega over who should be the leader of Bullet Club.

Speaking to the Augusta Free Press, Page responded to talks of the faction’s demise:

“We’re not coming apart at the seams. We’re fine. Bullet Club is fine. Look, we’re a group of the most entertaining, athletic, all-around best wrestlers on the planet. And, you know, you’re just going to have a little bit of a rift sometimes. But, it’s fine, things are fine. We’ll work it out. This one is really just a little disagreement between Cody and Kenny, and they have a match coming up, and once that’s over, we’re fine. OK? Just got to get it out of our system.”

Matt Taven Calls NXT “ROH Lite”

Ring of Honor star Matt Taven is set to do battle with Cody on the ROH 16th Anniversary show. Taven recently appeared on Interactive Wrestling Radio to hype up the event. When the topic of NXT popped up, Taven had the following to say:

“I couldn’t agree more. Our touring schedule and their touring schedule is starting to cross paths to where maybe they hit a market a week before we hit that market. That is on purpose. Taking talent from Ring of Honor? That is all on purpose. I basically look at NXT as ROH Lite. I wish for every wrestling company to be as successful as possible. There is something that ROH is obviously doing right if the top dog is trying to hurt them. That is something that they’ve (WWE) has tried to do a few times. It just lets us know that we (ROH) are doing something right. And, ROH has been resilient. I first started working here in 2009 doing stuff. I started working more consistently in 2012. But, in my 9 years, wow I feel old saying that, in my 9 years, I’ve seen them come and go. And still, ROH continues to get bigger and continues to grow and grow and reach broader audiences. As much as I love my buds, it shows ROH is doing something right if WWE is trying to bite their style so much.”

Mick Foley Says Bullet Club Members Are ‘Blazing Their Own Trail’

Mick Foley is offering a heap of praise on Bullet Club members.

On episode 95 of “Being The Elite,” Foley appeared. Marty Scurll tried recruiting the hardcore icon to help make the Villain Club more than just a t-shirt. Instead, Foley suggested that Mr. Socko becomes a member and things fell apart.

    Trail Blazers

Just before the video was released, Foley posted a new entry of his Facebook blog praising Scurll, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega. You can read part of it below:

“Sure, on a certain level, I understood The Young Bucks were getting over strong. I understood, to some extent how well the whole Bullet Club thing was working. Not only were the Bucks blazing their own trail in tag-team wrestling; passing on a rumored WWE offer, because they were perfectly content with their New Japan and Ring Of Honor deals, but Kenny Omega had earned the right to call himself a human (match of the year) factory, with near superhuman performances on New Japan’s biggest shows in consecutive years. And to my surprise, the Marty Scurll Villain Club T’s were beating my WANTED T’s like a government mule at OTT shows in Dublin and Belfast. It’s not that the venerable Cactus shirts weren’t selling; they were – just at a pace about 1/4 the pace of Marty’s.”

Cody Sends Warning to Kenny Omega, Jay Lethal Hypes ROH 16th Anniversary

Cody Says Kenny Omega’s Time Is Up

On April 7, Cody will finally meet Kenny Omega. The match is expected to headline Supercard of Honor XII. Last month at NJPW’s The New Beginning in Sapporo, Cody gave Omega a Crossroads and was going to hit him with a chair before Kota Ibushi made the save.

Since then, the Golden Lovers have reunited and Bullet Club is in shambles. Cody believes a victory over Omega would make the world view him as the true leader of Bullet Club. He fired a warning at “The Best Bout Machine” in a new ROH video:

“What a year for the Bullet Club, the most profitable in the faction’s history. Let’s think about it. Think about those records that Marty Scurll and The Young Bucks set. That watershed agreement that everybody seems to be benefiting off of doesn’t happen unless I sign on the dotted line … There was Marty over there, Hangman over there, The Bucks, the streamers but no Kenny. Leadership, it’s not a title. You have to live it! Go ahead and bring Kota Ibushi with you because I want to see the look when he sees you in pain and the rest of the world sees me as the leader of the Bullet Club.”

Jay Lethal Wants ROH Gold Again

Jay Lethal has sent out quite the statement to ROH World champion Dalton Castle. Next Friday night (March 9), Lethal will challenge Castle in the main event of ROH 16th Anniversary. In a new promo, Lethal says Castle’s reign is coming to an end:

“Dalton Castle I have waited, not patiently, but I have waited nonetheless for this exact moment. I stand the number one contender right now for the Ring of Honor World championship. Just saying it makes my hair stand up … One more time I will become the Ring of Honor World champion.”
