WWE Champion The Miz was recently interviewed by SGVTribune.com. Here are some highlights of what the reigning WWE Champion said about:

Winning The WWE Championship: “(There were) so many emotions that went through my head (when winning the belt). When I first won it, when the 1-2-3 happened, I couldn’t control my excitement, it was just exuding,” he said. “Once I got the title, it kind of went to an ‘oh my god’ moment, it takes your breath away,” he continued. “And when I was up on the second rope, I remember raising the belt going, ‘Oh my god, I’m raising the WWE Championship as the WWE Champion.’ And I felt myself choke up, I felt myself getting teary eyed. And I was like, ‘Wait a second. You can’t do that. You’re the WWE Champion.’

“Then I went out of the ring, (Alex Riley) was there and we both celebrated together. Feeling his excitement made me feel even more excited,” he said. “So that’s kind of the first three minutes of my WWE Championship (reign).

“Miz Girl”: “(She) made my championship reign, it was great. That’s how pissed off people were of me (winning),” he said. “Everyone thought I’d be the first person to get the Money in the Bank contract and lose. Everyone thought so, but that didn’t happen.”

Getting a Deal following Tough Enough: “I tried out. Made it. Didn’t win. But impressed the execs enough that they gave me a (development) contract to go to the Deep South (and train),” he said. “I stopped doing reality shows, took a payout, went there and hoped for the best.”

Edge speared Dolph twice in the closing moments of the match – leading WWE’s website and others to speculate whether Edge has rightful  ownership of his title.

Dolph Ziggler is speaking out about the situation, claiming Edge did in fact violate the match stipulation and must forfeit his title. Ziggler wrote on Twitter:

“I may not “possess” the title tonight, but make no mistake about it, I AM THE REAL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! Rules are Rules…. ;)”

  • UFC 129 Sells Out Former WrestleMania Stadium (55,000+ Tickets)

The UFC announced Saturday that all tickets for its April 30 event at Rogers Centre (formerly the Skydome) in Toronto have been sold.

Rogers Centre was originally configured to accommodate 42,000 spectators, but the unprecedented demand for tickets led the company to reconfigure the seating chart to accomidate over 55,000 fans.

“UFC continues to set new milestones,” UFC president Dana White said. “We’ve sold 55,000 tickets in our first stadium event in Toronto and we continue to take the UFC to the next level.”

UFC 129 will be the first mixed martial arts event held in Ontario and is expected to more than double the promotion’s record for largest crowd to witness a live event.

UFC 129 will be headlined by two blockbuster title fights, both featuring Canadians. George St. Pierre looks to defend his welterweight belt against Jake Shields, and fellow Canadian Mark Hominick faces current featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Until UFC 129, the largest crowd the company ever drew event was back in December 2010, when UFC 124 (GSP vs. Koscheck) drw 23,000 at Bell Centre in Montreal.

UFC 129 is also expected to shatter the promotion’s mark for live gate revenue. The current record for a live gate is $5.4 million, set on Dec. 30, 2006, for UFC 66 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

  • Evan Bourne’s Return, WM27 Guest Host Poll, Ziggler-Kent State

    — Dolph Ziggler attended his alma mater Kent State University’s wrestling meet against Ohio this past Friday and was in charge of the pre-meet coin toss. Ziggler also sat on the Kent State bench to watch the meet.

Kent State crushed rivals Ohio 30-6 at the Friday meet, capturing the spot of first place in the Mid-American Conference.

    — Evan Bourne wrote on Twitter (@findevan) this week that he will still 4-6 weeks away from returning to the ring. Bourne also said he’s headed to Brazil soon to do promotional work for WWE and that WWE will be part of WWE’s upcoming tour of South America.

    — The WWE website has a poll up asking fans who they think will be the special guest host at WrestleMania 27. The choices are Aaron Rodgers, Michael Jordan, Shaq, Clay Matthews and Dan Marino.

  • Big Change To The WWE HOF, Tough Enough TV Schedule & More

    – There will be a big change to the WWE Hall of Fame this year, as the annual event will not air on USA Network the night before WrestleMania. This year, the show will be taped on Saturday night from Atlanta and will not air until Monday night, as a lead-in to WWE RAW. Both WWE and USA Network expect the show to draw much higher ratings this year on Monday night.

    – With the Hall of Fame airing on April 4th, the night after WrestleMania 27, that evening will now feature 4 hours of WWE programming on the USA Netowk.

The 2011 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is currently scheduled to air on Monday, April 4th before the post-WrestleMania RAW at 8pm EST.

The post-WrestleMania edition of Monday Night RAW will then air at 9pm in its regularly scheduled spot.

Following RAW will be the season premiere of WWE Tough Enough at 11pm, completing a four-hour block of WWE TV that night.

  • WrestleMania Guest Host To Be Revealed On RAW

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon made his first in-person WWE television appearance in nearly a year at the start of Monday’s RAW. • Big Update On The Undertaker’s Return & WM27 Plans

With The Undertaker scheduled to return to WWE television on the Monday, February 21st episode of WWE RAW (the night after Elimination Chamber), we’ve got an update on his health and what’s being discussed for him for WrestleMania.

The planned Undertaker vs. Wade Barrett WrestleMania main event has been reportedly scrapped. This feud made sense as Wade Barrett was the leader of Nexus when the group destroyed the Undertaker and put him out of action at Survivor Series, but WWE now has a totally different direction for the Dead Man.

According to a very reliable WWE source, the current plan is for The Undertaker to wrestle Triple H, with Shawn Michaels serving as the special guest referee. The match would have a stipulation of Career vs. Streak, with Triple H being forced to retire if he cannot defeat the Dead Man.

The Undertaker has been doing a lot of rehab on his surgically repaired shoulder and WWE is very confident he’ll be on track to compete at WrestleMania. While nobody is expecting a WrestleMania classic as in previous years, he should be able to work a good singles match.

  • WWE Questioning If Edge Is Still World Hwt. Champion

The WWE website is questioning whether Edge is still the World Heavyweight Champion following last night’s episode of SmackDown.

The “Rated R Superstar” retained the belt over Dolph Ziggler after Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews replaced Vickie Guerrero as the bout’s Special Guest Referee and made the three-count.

WWE.com published an article concerning Matthews’ involvement with the match, which teases controversy.

“And although Matthews wouldn’t divulge who gave him the authority to be a WWE Official, the WWE Universe is left to wonder if Edge is still the World Heavyweight Champion and if Matthews’ power as a WWE Official ultimately supersedes that of an angry “acting” SmackDown General Manager in Vickie Guerrero.”

The match featured a stipulation where Ziggler would automatically become the new World Heavyweight Champion if Edge attempted to use the Spear against his opponent. Edge hit the banned Spear on Ziggler two separate times during the closing moments of the match.

  • 12-Man Tag Match On Next Week’s 600th SmackDown

    — Next week’s episode of SmackDown, which is being billed as the 600th, will feature a 12-Man Tag Team Match pitting the competitors of both Elimination Chamber Matches at Elimination Chamber.

World Heavyweight Champion Edge, John Cena, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison and R-Truth will take on Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, King Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Drew McIntyre and Kane.

    — The February 10 episode of WWE Superstars on WGN America scored a 0.65 cable rating, with 605,000 viewers. Viewership was down from last week’s show, which drew a 0.73 rating, with 839,000 viewers.

The midnight replay drew a 0.17, with 154,000 viewers.

    — Triple H appears on the Lemmy Kilmster documentary currently on VHI, Lemmy: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son Of A Bitch.

  • Justin Beiber At WrestleMania & 6 Planned Matches

Following Sunday’s Royal Rumble and Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, the planned card for WrestleMania 27 is starting to take shape. Here’s a look at what the card is looking like:

    * WWE Champion The Miz defending vs. John Cena
    * World Heavyweight champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Edge
    * The Undertaker vs. Wade Barrett
    * Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
    * Nexus vs. The Corre in a 6-man tag match
    * Triple H vs. Sheamus

Jerry Lawler is also scheduled to wrestle at WrestleMania, likely as a culmination of his feud with Michael Cole. Alex Riley has been discussed as a possible opponent for The King.

In the case of Taker vs. Barrett, if Taker can’t work a singles match there is a backup plan of Kane and Taker vs. the four members of The Corre. No word where this would leave Nexus but it might not happen as Taker is telling everyone he will be ready to go.

As far as celebrities for the big show, WWE is still trying to get Justin Beiber involved, which explains Alberto Del Rio’s reference to him on RAW.

  • JR Blog: His WWE Contract Status, Jericho’s New Book & More

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

His WWE Contract Status: “Emailer asked me if I was able to do other talent work outside WWE or would my contract prevent such? I don’t have a talent contract with WWE but am a proud employee. I am able to do free lance projects outside WWE as long as they are not pro wrestling gigs which honestly don’t interest me at this time. Theoretically, I could do MMA , football, etc with no apparent issues. There is nothing on the ‘horizon’ other than my desire to broadcast Oklahoma Sooner football this fall on radio. There’s no new news on that front and, as I have said before, I feel that I’m in the hunt but a long shot.”

His WM27 Weekend Plans: “I’m considering a few fan convention opportunities in the future. I don’t make many of them and never have due to the lack of available time but I’m going to try and do a few more selected appearances during 2011. I will continue to turn down Saturday appearances during college football season as I would rather go watch OU play than to miss the game to earn a payday elsewhere.

I will be appearing at WM27 Axxess Friday night at the HUGE, THQ function….Saturday morning with The King at a WWE Hall of Fame signing, and Sunday around noon for a Q&A. Plus, we will have our products at the main, WWE merchandise stand throughout Axxess.”

Chris Jericho’s New Book “Undisputed”: “Chris mixes WWE experiences with his band Fozzy’s tales of the road and rock ‘n roll to create a unique balance within ‘Undisputed.’ When I get through with a wrestling chapter I can’t wait to read more but then I read a Fozzy chapter and I become intrigued about the music business and life as a ‘rock star.’ One thing that many casual fans don’t know is that Jericho was one of the more physical guys with legit toughness to step into a WWE ring under my watch which was both a blessing and a curse as you will see when you read ‘Undisputed’ of which I HIGHLY recommend.”

  • New Trailer For WWE All Stars: Warrior, Hollywood Hogan

  • Eve Torres On Why She’s Champion, Her Jiu-Jitsu Training

WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres spoke with The Miami Herald at this week’s WrestleMania 28 press conference. Here are some highlights:

Winning the Divas Title again: “It’s kind of like the first time you really don’t know how much it means to you, until you lose it. When it is the first time, you almost don’t know how to make the most out of it and to truly fight for it. I think any time you get the chance to represent the title and to earn the title, you learn how to represent it in the best way.

You learn how to wear it with honor, fight for it with honor and really become the face of WWE for the divas. It’s an amazing opportunity. You have to be ready for those opportunities when they come. Otherwise what is the point of having those opportunities? I have mine and plan on making it last. I plan on getting the most out of it.”

Why she’s Champion: “All of the divas are given opportunities. It’s kind of the way you go after them and what you do with them. I feel like I was able to cease the opportunity I was given, and now I am divas champion. You are representing the entire company. I think it shows the company has faith in you, and we have faith in ourselves.”

Her jiu-jitsu training: “Jiu-jitsu is something I absolutely love. I never planned on going into MMA or anything like that. I literally do it for fun and for my own self defense. I think it’s important for women to learn that. I think it’s very empowering and has helped with my confidence inside and outside the ring. I think that is why it’s so meaningful for me.”

  • NXT Season 5 Details, Mistico-WWE Update, Rock Nominated

    – With the fourth season of WWE NXT coming to a close, WWE officials are already planning Season 5 and have decided on a theme. As of this week, WWE is looking to pair up Rookies with their WWE Legend fathers.

Some of the father and son teams WWE could have access to include Richie & Ricky Steamboat, Brett & Ted DiBiase, Bo & Mike Rotundo, among others.

    – To follow up on the news that Mexican lucha libre star Mistico has signed with WWE, the EMLL promotion was supposed to hold a press conference earlier this week to discuss the situation, but it was canceled due to unknown reasons.

  • JR Blog: Mr. Perfect, Sting-WWE, WM28 Being Outdoors

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

The Late Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig: “Indeed Curt Henning was a special performer who was athletically gifted and naturally charismatic. Perfect or ‘Perfecto’ as Razor Ramon used to call him was a classic practical joker in the locker room and had the ability to make one laugh or want to kill him. Perfect once put a lock and chain on my brief case and attached it to the rafter of the locker room. I had to get the building people to find and then loan me bolt cutters to cut down my brief case where my car keys were being held prisoner.”

WrestleMania 28 Being Outdoors: “I have mixed emotions about Wrestlemania 28 going outdoors with no dome to protect the event from the elements and to retain the crowd noise. I have been to the stadium in Miami for several games and it can get loud there so perhaps the noise issue may be less of an issue than some perceive. Nonetheless no one can control Mother Nature as I can attest by simply looking out my window where I’m sitting.”

Sting and WWE: “Sorry that some take exception when they ask for my opinion and I simply give it. No…I do not think that Sting is going to sign with WWE and wrestle the Undertaker at WM27. For those ‘Oliver Stone’s’ out there that have it all figured out and are threatening to ‘boycott’ WM27 over this self induced fiasco, do whatever it is that makes you happy. I’m fairly certain that if Sting and WWE wanted to do business together that it would get done.

Plus, even though there is obvious renewed interest in the Sting persona, if I were WWE I would not do a Sting DVD until I had access to the man himself so that a proposed Sting DVD would not be a compilation but rather a documentary. I’d be happy to sit off camera and conduct the interview, for the record.

Or, let the ‘Voice of WWE’ do it.”
