  • MVP Calls NXT ‘Awful’, London Pulls Video Demeaning Hardy

    — MVP had some choice words for NXT when asked what he thought of announcer Michael Cole quitting the program.

    “NXT is awful,” MVP wrote on Twitter. “I’ll be glad when it ALL over!”

    Later, a fan suggested that one of the Rookie Diva contestants could be ‘the next Lita’.

    “What an incredible INSULT to Lita!” MVP sniped. “Lita is an ALL TIME great! These chicks? Lita? Not in this lifetime!”

    — Paul London has since deleted the video he posted earlier this week on YouTube demeaning Matt Hardy. He also called his former colleague ‘a mess’ during an interview Monday night.

    According to PWInsider.com, there’s been underlying heat between the two since a love triangle with Ashley Massaro when all three were working for WWE years ago.

    The video in question can be viewed here.

  • Aloisia Disputes Escort Rumors, WWE Superstars Preview, More

    — Ousted NXT Rookie Diva Aloisia, who announced the news of her release from WWE last night during an interview with Diva-Dirt.com, also disputed online rumors that she previously worked as an escort.

    “Look, I’ve never in my life worked for an escort service, but it’s pointless to go on and on and on addressing all these ridiculous charges,” she said. “Every time I single talk about it, the story seems to get bigger and bigger and then people criticize me for trying to attract attention. So I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t.”

    She also discussed the current NXT season, the Rookie Diva who replaced her, and whether she’d be interested in returning to WWE.

    — The following matches were taped for tonight’s edition of WWE Superstars on WGN America:

    * MVP vs. Luke Gallows
    * Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov vs. Jey and Jimmy Uso
    * The Great Khali vs. Primo

    “I kinda feel sorry for the guy, he’s a mess.”

    “He’s not important or significant enough to me to even dignify his absurd, delusional comments.”

    Hardy also said he has an autobiography in the works and that he plans on posting videos on YouTube more frequently.

    — The official WWE website has added Bushwhackers Luke and Butch to its Alumni section.

  • JR Blog: Matt Hardy’s Issues, Jericho, Miz-Bryan & More

    WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

    Matt Hardy’s Issues: “I have no idea of what is actually going on regarding Matt Hardy and his relationship with WWE. What I read on line does concern me and, obviously, I hope the best for all involved at the end of the day. Interesting days could lie a head.”

    Jericho As WWE’s MVP: “Chris Jericho had a helluva night on Raw and is one of the WWE’s true MVP’s.  His promo and interaction with the ‘GM’ was money. Jericho takes a back seat to no one in WWE as it relates to all around skills. We often forget he’s a 20 year vet. Not many of them around that are still as productive as the Fozzy front man.”

    Miz vs. Daniel Bryan On Sunday: “Miz vs. Daniel Bryan for the United States Title Sunday in Chicago on PPV might steal the show. I hope that they have time to tell a compelling story. Think of how significant an opportunity this is for Bryan….a one on one bout for a title at a major PPV. I’m looking forward to the US Title bout as much as any match at Night of Champions.”

    WWE’s Young Roster: “WWE is building a viable, young talent roster and some might even say that WWE is in somewhat of a transition period. The best days for most of their young guys lies ahead and the next 18-24 months should be most interesting. I’m already thinking who might headline the top bouts at WM28.”

    – Richie Steamboat, son of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat, will challenge Florida Championship Wrestling champion Mason Ryan for the title tonight. The match will take place at the FCW show in Orlando and will be a lumberjack match.

    – We’ve gotten several emails about John Morrison’s warm-up exercise segment from RAW. For those who missed it, Morrison was shown running around backstage jumping on, over and under various objects in a controlled, fluid way. This style of workout is commonly known as “parkour” or “freerunning.” According to WWE sources, Morrison does in fact practice this activity in his regular training routine.

    For those who missed it, you can check it out here:

    “Here’s a quick hello to all my people & a reassurance to everyone that I’m fine, healthy, & in good spirits. Thx for all of your support.

    “When the time is right, I’ll put everything out there as far as what “really” went down. I know I have to protect me & my brand, & I will.

    “I appreciate my fans so much that I’ll always be honest with them, & the whole story certainly isn’t out there now.

    “I appreciate all of the things the WWE has done 4 me in the past, they have been gracious to me-but now, it’s decision time for me. Thx all.”

  • WWE RAW Rating, Chris Jericho’s WWE Future, The Miz, NXT

    Monday’s edition of WWE RAW drew a 3.0 cable rating off hours of 2.98 and 3.03. The show, which was dubbed the “season  premiere” and featured a “roulette theme, averaged 4,350,000 viewers. This is the same number as last week’s Labor Day holiday episode and is not a great sign of momentum heading into Sunday’s Night of Champions PPV. Bycomparison, the NFL Monday Night Football doubleheader did a 10.9 broadcast rating with the first game doing a 10.87 and the second game doing a 8.82.

    – The latest on Chris Jericho is that a lot of people within WWE are still unsure what he’s going to do when his contract expires this month. Apparently Jericho isn’t talking to anyone about his plans, that goes from wrestlers to people in the office. (Source: f4wonline.com)

  • WWE Being Investigated For “Independent Contractor” Policy

    The Connecticut Post is reporting WWE is being audited by officials from the state of Connecticut for classifying its wrestlers and other staff production talent as independent contractors.

    WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman blamed the increased scrutiny on Linda McMahon’s run for United States Senate in an email to the publication, stating:

    “Up until this election, WWE has not been fined nor investigated in the past for independent contractor classification. However, curiously the state of Connecticut is currently conducting an audit of WWE’s classification of independent contractors. WWE constantly reviews its internal practices and procedures to comply with ever-changing employee laws.”

    Several years ago, former WWE wrestlers Mike Sanders, Raven and the now deceased Kanyon filed a lawsuit against WWE arguing their independent contractor classification from their WWE contracts. The lawsuit was dismissed.

    Wrestlers being classified as independent contractors instead of employees has been a hot button topic within the industry for years, with WWE saving truckloads of money every year by not having to pay for the various benefits that comes from being an employee.

  • Matt Hardy Not Backstage At SD, Reportedly “On Very Thin Ice”

    Matt Hardy is not backstage at today’s SmackDown television taping in Detroit, Michigan. He was sent home by World Wrestling Entertainment officials after an incident backstage during Saturday’s SmackDown live event in Minehead, England.

    Regarding the possibility of WWE cutting ties with Hardy altogether, our WWE source says Hardy is on” very thin ice.”

    It is said that Hardy’s saving grace from termination was WWE’s fear of a Hardy Boys revival in rival promotion TNA Wrestling, but after Saturday’s backstage incident weekend and subsequent video blog, the feeling is that they don’t care much about keeping him under their auspices anymore.

    Despite Hardy’s claim that he wasn’t taken off the road, a company spokesman confirmed the story to Newsday today.

  • WWE Confirms Matt Hardy Pulled From Live Events

    To follow up on the “Was he or wasn’t he” reports that Matt Hardy was “sent home” from WWE’s latest European tour, WWE has confirmed to Newsday.com that Hardy WAS in fact sent home from two recent live events.

    After news broke that Hardy’s behavior and mental state were alarming WWE officials to the point where he was not allowed to perform on scheduled shows, Hardy posted yet another cooky video online saying he was fine. Hardy argued that he was recording the video from his hotel room in Great Britain – so how could he have been ‘sent home’ from the tour?

    In any event, WWE has now confirmed that Hardy was sent home, without elaborating as to why.

    Here’s the video Matt Hardy posted over the weekend:

  • Natalya Recalls The Night Bret & Shawn Made Peace

    Still Surreal .. HBK & Bret Make Peace After 12 Long Years

    WWE’s Hart Dynasty – David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, and Natalya – appeared on Monday’s Right After Wrestling radio show. Among the  topics discussed was Bret Hart’s return to WWE on January 4th and his in-ring reconciliation with longtime rival Shawn Michaels.

    “You could feel the weight being lifted off of them after that night,” Natalya said. “To have that kind of history, over a decade of holding onto that, it was a great release for both off them.

    “Before Bret had come to WWE, Shawn Michaels had helped mentor a lot of the younger talent, Triple H as well, so we saw a completely different side of these guys than Bret had remembered during the time of the Montreal Screwjob.”

    Other topics included more on Bret’s return to WWE, the pride Natalya takes in Trish Stratus naming her the current Diva she’d most like to work with, backstage ribs and thoughts on the WWE tag division.

  • Linda McMahon’s Latest Senate Race Poll Numbers Looking Good

    Quinnipiac University, a leader in election polling, released the following press release on Tuesday regarding Linda McMahon’s senate race. With 7 weeks until Election Day, Linda McMahon is now within 6 points of her Democratic challenger, with 3% undecided and 11% saying they could switch their vote.

    Blumenthal Up Just 6 Points In Connecticut Senate Race, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Much McMahon Support Is Anti-Blumenthal

    (September 14, 2010) Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the Democrat, leads Republican former wrestling executive Linda McMahon 51 – 45 percent among likely voters in the U.S. Senate race, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

    Another 3 percent are undecided and 11 percent of those who do name a candidate say they could change their mind by Election Day. This is the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe- ack) University’s first general election likely voter survey in Connecticut in this election cycle and can not be compared to earlier surveys of registered voters.

    In today’s survey, conducted by telephone with live interviewers, Blumenthal leads 87 – 10 percent among Democrats and gets 47 percent of independent voters to McMahon’s 46 percent. McMahon leads 91 – 9 percent among Republicans. Women back Blumenthal 56 – 41 percent, while men split 47 – 48 percent.

    Among those backing McMahon, 42 percent say their vote is mainly against Blumenthal, while 53 percent say they mainly are pro-McMahon. Blumenthal backers are 22 percent anti- McMahon and 73 percent pro-Blumenthal.

    “This is now a 6 point race among likely voters. With seven weeks to go and lots of money to be spent, anything can happen,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD.

    “For Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, an elected official with a 70 percent approval rating, this race is surprisingly close. It is not that voters are wild about McMahon; her favorability rating is tepid. And many of her supporters are more anti-Blumenthal.”

    “The question is whether Linda McMahon can ride the anti-establishment, anti-Democratic wave to victory in blue Connecticut, a state that hasn’t voted for a Republican for Senator since Lowell Weicker in 1982,” Dr. Schwartz added.

    “President Barack Obama appears to be a drag on Blumenthal, even in Connecticut, where the President’s job approval rating is a negative 45 – 52 percent.

    “McMahon would be Connecticut’s first female Senator. But it is Blumenthal’s advantage among women that is making the difference in the race. While men have a mixed opinion of both candidates, women are divided on McMahon but love Blumenthal by a more than 2-1 margin. It may be because women are less likely than men to be turned off by Blumenthal’s Vietnam misstatements, and more likely to be turned off by McMahon’s wrestling background.”

    Only 45 percent of Connecticut likely voters say Blumenthal can bring needed change to Washington, with 48 percent saying he can’t bring change. But McMahon gets exactly the same numbers. Blumenthal leads McMahon on most other measures in the survey, as voters say:

    * 72 – 25 percent that Blumenthal has the right experience to be a U.S Senator;
    * 56 – 39 percent that McMahon does not have the right experience;
    * 57 – 36 percent that he is honest and trustworthy;
    * 58 – 29 percent that she is honest and trustworthy;
    * 55 – 38 percent that Blumenthal shares their values;
    * 49 – 42 percent that McMahon shares their values.

    Connecticut voters say 37 – 1 percent that Blumenthal’s statements about his Vietnam War service make them less likely to vote for him, as 60 percent say they don’t make a difference.

    McMahon’s experience as CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment leaves voters 33 – 20 percent less likely to vote for her, while 47 percent say it doesn’t make a difference.

    By a 55 – 39 percent margin, voters have a favorable opinion of Blumenthal, compared to a 45 – 41 percent favorability for McMahon.

    The economy and jobs are the main issues in deciding how they will vote, 55 percent of voters say, followed by 11 percent who list health care, 10 percent who cite the federal deficit and 6 percent who say education. Only 4 percent list illegal immigration and 2 percent say Afghanistan.

    From September 8 – 12, Quinnipiac University surveyed 875 Connecticut likely voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.3 percentage points.

    The Quinnipiac University Poll conducts public opinion surveys in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio and the nation as a public service and for research. For more data or RSS feed- http://www.quinnipiac.edu/polling.xml, call (203) 582-5201, or follow us on Twitter.

    Picking WWE over TNA and ROH: “To be honest, and no disrespect meant, but it wasn’t a hard decision to make. You have to want to test yourself against the best and WWE is the pinnacle of our industry. They were actually the last to make me an offer. I was renegotiating with ROH and TNA had made an offer, but when WWE came in it was no contest.”

    What’s Next for Him: “I understand that I may have to sacrifice a little artistic integrity — and I don’t know if I’ll have to change my name — but I’m so excited about the challenge that lies ahead. If I knew exactly what I was doing I’d probably try to keep it from you, but the truth is I don’t know. All I know is I will report to Tampa (WWE developmental territory FCW) and go from there. I wouldn’t be averse to starting on NXT. I think it’s a really great concept. It’s a chance to get your character to stand out.”
