The advertised main event was a Steel Cage Match between Orton and Sheamus, while John Cena was scheduled for a Six-Man Tag Team Match against Nexus. An angle was conducted at the beginning of the show where Sheamus attacked Cena and Nexus attacked Chris Jericho, leading Orton and Daniel Bryan to perform a run-in.

Orton sparingly wrestled during the match and did not perform the RKO. He did, however, strike Michael Tarver with a punt to the head in the aftermath of the bout.

  • Layla’s Response Following Slam From “The Beautiful People”

This week’s episode of TNA Wrestling’s new behind the scenes program ReACTION saw the recently reunited pairing of Angelina Love and Velvet Sky slam those who have attempted to imitate The Beautful People stable over the years.

Love charged during the pseudo-shoot program, “We created a group that has been like no other for women in professional wrestling. People have tried to be like this. People wanted to join us. No can do.”

Sky added, “And for all you wannabe Beautiful People girls out there… you know exactly who I’m talking about, get a life. You will never be us.”

Angelina then cryptically noted, “And you’re not cool by the way. You’re not cool.”

Some have interpreted their message as a thinly veiled potshot towards WWE Diva alliance Lay-Cool — Michelle McCool and Women’s Champion Layla. Both have directed similar remarks towards rival performers in the past, with Love recently stating the following on her Facebook account while watching television: “So this is what I get for quickly flipping thru the channels on a friday night……a blonde & a brunette blatantly ripping something off……..BRUTAL!!!”

Apparently in response to the TNA Knockouts’ most recent remarks, Layla said the following on Twitter yesterday:

“Living the dream & so blessed!!
1 thing I know when u r attacked u have 2 decide if it’s worth the time & effort to retaliate
    Not worth the press
Plus don’t deserve the press we get even tho they want it & need it :-)

    Real talk”

It was reported this past June in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Lay-Cool act was concocted due to WWE’s creative department being embarrassed by The Beautiful People making their female performers look second-rate by comparison.

  • ROH Owner Talks About Tyler Black Leaving, Bryan, Homicide

Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin joined The Wheelhouse (Wheelhouseradio.com) on Thursday August 26th to promote the upcoming Glory By Honor IX IPPV live in New York City’s Manhattan Center on September the 11th on GoFightLive.tv.

The card is headlined by ROH World Champion Tyler Black taking on Roderick Strong for the ROH World Championship with Terry Funk as the Special Guest referee, the Kings of Wrestling vs. the debutng Charlie Hass & Shelton Benjamin, Colt Cabana & El Generico vs. Kevin Steen & Steve Corino in a double Chain match and more! For more information visit ROHWrestling.com

The following are some quotes from The Wheelhouse’s interview with Cary Silkin:

Tyler Black leaving ROH for WWE: “I’m angry on losing a talent like Tyler Black and hope that he’s is going to do well. But one good thing Bower (host of The Wheelhouse) is I’m used to this having gone through it with a number of guys. They thought Ring of Honor was finished last September…when Nigel and Bryan simultaneously left, that was a hell of a blow. We can go on and on, CM Punk, Matt Sydal, Samoa Joe, Homicide and so on and so forth. But somehow we always come out on the other side ok…I hate to see Tyler leave but he’s not done yet.”

Homicide possibly returning to ROH: “Sure there’s a possibility. He can’t participate; he has a clause where he can’t compete till sometime until the middle of September…but we would love to have Homicide back in ROH…he has rich history in Ring of Honor and I hope we can do something with him down the road.”

Was Bryan Danielson Contacted to Return to ROH? “Yes there were. I had a feeling there was something going on and no one is going to ever say for sure. But we spoke to Bryan and it just didn’t jive with the offers we made to him and his counter offers and this and that. There were some indications to me that he wasn’t going to be along very long. He’s a guy that deserves the best there is no doubt about it and I’m glad for him…Had he been available were would have certainly spoken to him but he didn’t indicate that and we wish him the best.”

To download the complete interview go to The Wheelhouse’s website over at Wheelhouseradio.com and click “podcasts.”

  • SyFy Filming At WWE Developmental – For NXT Season 3?
