Malakai Black, leader of AEW’s House of Black faction, appears to be on his way out of the company.
Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view from Chicago was another huge night for Tony Khan’s promotion, but could also mark the end of the line for Black. At least, for the foreseeable future. The House of Black competed in the penultimate match on the card. In six-man tag-team action, the House of Black lost to Sting, Darby Allin and Miro.
After the match concluded, the House of Black embraced one another at ringside.
The group exited the ringside area. As they arrived on the stage, Black blew a kiss to the audience and bowed. Here’s footage of the scene, courtesy of Twitter user KayyDott:
Leaving AEW?
In the run-up to AEW All Out 2022, it had been reported that Black had requested his release from the promotion.
Wrestling reporter Raj Giri recently stated that that Black “has repeatedly shown concerns about his mental health due to personal life and demoralization due to the booking and handling of his character.”
A follow-up report from PW Insider indicated Black is dealing with “a personal situation” that’s been weighing heavily on him. “He’s privately talked about taking a long, perhaps permanent, break from professional wrestling.”
AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the situation during the post-show media scrum, but had no comment about Malakai Black’s symbolic bow.
