Chris Jericho is currently under contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, “Y2J” certainly had great interest from other promotions as well. One of those being IMPACT Wrestling. Speaking to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Jericho revealed that IMPACT offered him a four-match mid-seven-figure deal to sign with them:
“In my mind, from a pure business standpoint, I’m worth as much as Brock Lesnar to WWE as far as what I bring to the table. That’s the watermark that I had. For me to go back to Vince, I want that kind of a deal.
“When I was starting to talk with Tony (Khan) and New Japan and Impact as well– Impact offered me a hell of a deal for a four match series. We’re talking mid-seven figures. They have some cash as well. When they believe in something, they have money for it.”
Of course, Jericho has now signed on with AEW and will take on Kenny Omega in his first match for the promotion. That match will go down at their Double Or Nothing pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 25, 2019. Jericho will be part of a promotion that’s expected to really shake up the professional wrestling world.
Many believe AEW has a chance at eventually competing with WWE and pushing the professional wrestling juggernaut to be better. Only time will tell if that ultimately proves to be the case. Check out the current line-up for Double Or Nothing below:
- Triple Threat Match: Dr. Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rosee vs. Kylie Rae
- “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Pac
- SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky, and Christopher Daniels) vs. Cima, TBA, and TBA
- Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho
What do you think about IMPACT offering Jericho a four-match mid-seven-figure deal?
