Cody Rhodes made a big statement during his entrance at AEW’s first event Double Or Nothing. He broke a throne using a sledge hammer, firing some very significant shots at Triple H and WWE as a whole.
During a recent interview with WrestlingInc, Cody’s on-screen protege and one of the fastest rising stars in the world of pro-wrestling, MJF discussed this move from his mentor.
MJF was signed by AEW in January and he made his debut for the company at the pre-show battle royale at Double or Nothing. He was also part of a segment involving Bret Hart and Adam Page during the main show.
In his interview with WrestlingInc’s WINCLY podcast, the AEW Star discussed Cody’s entrance and said that the statement Rhodes was making was for himself:
“I think the statement Cody was making was for himself, and if you listen to the post-fight interview, he wasn’t digging anyone. He wasn’t trying to stir the pot. That was for himself and was a cathartic thing for him.”
Continuing on the topic, MJF claimed that Cody barred his soul at the Double or Nothing event, and that is the reason why fans were standing at the end bawling their eyes out.
Apart from this, he also talked about not being drawn to ‘flippy dudes’ and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.
