It didn’t take AEW President Tony Khan long to respond to CM Punk and it got people talking on social media as a result.
On Monday afternoon, Punk sent out a tweet on his official Twitter account hyping his scheduled appearance on WWE Backstage this Tuesday night on FOX Sports 1. In doing so, he tagged Khan.
CM Punk Vows To Pull No Punches On WWE Backstage
Khan saw the tweet and responded by writing the following as well as taking a jab at WWE’s recent travel issues in Saudi Arabia:
“No one is safe? Sounds like a plane full of wrestlers in Saudi Arabia!”
It was just reported last week that Punk was offered a lot of money by AEW when he had an in-person meeting with Khan. Instead of signing with the rival promotion, Punk signed with FOX Sports to be a special correspondent on WWE Backstage. The former WWE Champion isn’t under contract with WWE.
Regarding the Saudi Arabia travel issues that Khan was referring to, earlier this month, the majority of the WWE crew had their flights delayed in Saudi Arabia for the Crown Jewel event.
There were reports that some stars felt unsafe while waiting to leave the country for over 24 hours because they didn’t know what was going on.
While WWE officials have publicly stated that the reason for the delays was due to mechanical issues, there are some stars who felt that there was more to the delays than just those issues.
