More details have emerged regarding CM Punk’s surprise appearance and return to wrestling.
As we reported earlier, Friday’s run-in on an MKE event was not the first time that Punk has made an unadvertised pro wrestling appearance.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that Punk appeared under a hood at a Freelance Wrestling event titled Raw Power in December 2015.
Punk served as Kikutaro’s manager, as Kikutaro faced off against Dick Justice and Darin Corbin.
Punk wore a cloak and a robe, and threw ceremonial salt before the match began.
Once the bell rang, Punk did not become involved in the match.
According to the report, Punk was backstage for the 2015 show. At Friday’s MKE event, Punk reportedly waited in his car before the show, then left right after his run-in.
Fightful confirms the Barstool’s Robbie Fox’s report on the idea behind the 2015 appearance.
The Freelance Wrestling show, and Punk’s appearance, were set to be a key part of Colt Cabana’s Wrestling Road Diaries 3 documentary.
After Cabana and Punk had a personal falling out, the appearance was cut from the documentary.
Raw Power also featured appearances from Cabana, and Joey Ryan. The entire event is available for purchase here.
