UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was forced to pull out of his November 14th title defense against Shane Carwin because of illness. After some initial speculation that Lesnar had been suffering from the H1N1 virus (commonly known as swine flu), there’s an update to the story.
MMA site BloodyElbow.com is reporting that UFC champion Brock Lesnar is actually suffering from mononucleosis, a viral disease that causes fatigue. It had been rumored that Lesnar would fight Carwin in January, but those plans are now off.
Shane Carwin has commented on the situation on his website:
Guys, my manager Jason Genet just told me that UFC 108 is not happening. Brock has Mono and what the UFC has told me is that I have earned the title shot but I have to wait for the title holder.â€
