After pleading guilty to money laundering in connection with mortgage fraud, UFC fighter Chael Sonnen’s contract has been “frozen,” according to UFC president Dana White. White spoke exclusively to TMZ.com and had this to say about Sonnen’s situation
“Chael Sonnen has gone through a lot in the last few months and we think it’s important for him to focus on getting his personal life together before focusing on his career in the UFC.”
White added, “I spoke with Chael earlier today and he agrees that setting priorities in his life is the best thing for him right now. I sincerely hope Chael is able to straighten out his personal life.”
Sonnen was facing upto 20 years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine, but reportedly struck a plea deal and will probably only get two years probation and a $10k fine.
