Major League Wrestling is preparing for its next big event on December 5th, 2019. The promotion will present the return of the Opera Cup tournament inside New York City’s Melrose Ballroom.

MLW has just announced that CIMA, El Lindaman, and Shigehiro Irie will make their debut for the promotion at the event. The trio has been booked to take on Contra Unit’s Jacob Fatu, Ikuro Kwon & Simon Gotch.

MLW Opera Cup 2019

An 8-person single-elimination tournament will be used to crown a new winner of the Opera Cup trophy. The last time the trophy was won it was awarded to Stu Hart in 1948. Teddy Hart inherited the trophy after his grandfather’s death in 2003. Hart was recently injured by a fireball from Contra Unit’s Josef Samael, however, so it is not clear if he will be medically cleared in time for the tournament.

The following opening-round matches have been booked for the show:

  • TJP vs Brian Pillman Jr.
  • MJF vs Alex Hammerstone
  • Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs Shinjiro Otani

MLW also recently signed heavyweight champion Jacob Fatu to a long-term deal. Former MLW champion Tom Lawlor is finishing up with the company shortly and the promotion also recently added Alicia Atout to their broadcast team.
