Cody and Brandi Rhodes were recently interviewed at Starrcast IV and commented on Randy Orton using AEW for leverage in his recent contract negotiations with WWE. Orton recently signed a new 5-year deal with the promotion.
“One of the most exciting things about AEW is we’ve been able to raise the pay floor for the entire industry,” Cody said. “So, if Randy wants to take a dumb photo on an elevator and tag people he doesn’t even know in it and if they’re dumb enough to buy it and they pay him a certain amount, good for Randy Orton, you know what I’m saying?”
Cody would continue to talk about Orton in a positive light.
“He’s a good guy, he’s got like 20 kids now, I love it,” Cody said. “I love Randy, I never got to beat him, dammit.”
The discussion with Cody and Brandi Rhodes was recently posted to the Inside the Ropes YouTube page:
Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes Head-to-Head Stats
Cody actually had 25 attempts to beat Randy Orton in a single’s match and he lost all of them. 13 of Orton’s victories over Cody came on house shows and the other 12 were televised. They only wrestled once on PPV at Vengeance 2011 and the rest of their matches were on either RAW or Smackdown.
